"I'll give you a warning of my own. Don't you dare get in my way. Engrave it deep in your minds, that Gadam's Vilzone boss is [Me] "
The main protagonist of the webcomic. A hot-headed Top Class Psyker in his late twenties, Cassian witnesses his friend Jeff's death and is killed in the ensuing conflict. He reawakens as Gangu Gwon, an 18 year old bullied high-school student who was killed in the school bathroom but was originally destined to become a Catastrophe class Villain.
  • The Ace: Cassian graduated from the top of his class with a specialty in hand-to-hand combat before becoming a world-renowned S-Rank Psyker. Even when confronted by Jack and Lyra, two other S Rank Psykers, he smashed through their defenses rather easily and likely would have won if not for the third sniper Psyker he couldn't anticipate. Even after becoming Gangu, he's an Instant Expert when it comes to his new powers and can beat down Villains three times stronger than him through his superior fighting technique and battle sense. He is also noted to have once been a Top Class Psyker, a title given only to the Top 30 Psyker combatants, regardless of magic points.
  • Alliterative Name: Gwon Gangu/ Kwon Kang-woo.
  • Almighty Janitor: Cassian's starting power level as Gangu would make him only a D Rank threat at most, but his skills and ability to gain new powers by eating magic stones allow him to punch above his weight class, knocking out Blackhand in one punch and pushing Driver back despite the latter having three times as much power on paper.
  • Alone Among Families: Cassian after meeting Jina is shown to be sad when seeing families at the park, and given how he refers to Jeff as 'hyung', Jeff may have been the only family he had aside from the orphans at HC orphanage.
  • Animal Motifs: Cassian is frequently compared to a mad dog by Psykers as Cassian Lee and Dark Glow thinks he is out of control and needs to be punished with a stick. Cassian is also, in turn fiercely loyal to his friends and allies.
  • And Then What?: When Moros asks him this when he is exercising, Cassian responds with finding happiness after his revenge is over.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: Gangu's abilities would have made him one of the most dangerous Villains in the world had he snapped and gone rogue before dying. Cassian instead uses these powers to protect others and defeat Villains.
  • Badass Boast: When he gives one the story highlights how doomed his opponents are.
Cassian: (To Barracuda) Don't set the standards based on yourself.
Cassian: (shortly afterwards) You and I are different. Magic ranking is meaningless because of our overwhelming difference in skill. The result was set from the beginning. I told you didn't I? The Winner was already decided.
  • Bad "Bad Acting": When Jinah convinces him to let her have the earl grey macarons, he pulls off pretty bad acting to allow her to have them. Jinah repays him anyways, causing Moros to point out that it somehow worked.
  • Battle Aura: His presence as a Villain is shown to terrify ordinary Villains, and Uchan states that in comparison to a very talented Psyker trainee of Sungtae, Cassian makes Uchan's entire body tremble with his normal state.
  • Beta Outfit: Cassian's first iteration of dark Villain clothes when he first transforms. Everyone who isn't trying to smack him around or ask him for help comments that the fashion is lame and too plain. He changes it out after a Costume Evolution to his new one.
  • Beehive Barrier: His shadow "armor" is this. It is a blue dome which easily protects Cassian from damage though it has a long cooldown of 20 hours.
  • Berserk Button: Though he already has a hair trigger temper, harming innocents in any way is this for him.
  • Being Watched: He is able to feel a gaze from Crow watching him when he is traversing the rooftops.
  • BFS: His Shadow Sword is this. It is easily as tall or taller than him.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Cassian has several times saved people at just the right time.
  • Blue Is Calm: Double Subverted and then enforced. Cassian is even more irritable following his death due to his grudge against Lampas for killing him and tarnishing his name on false charges. His confusion and rage results him in activating Gangu's villainous powers, which are colored blue and black instead of bright red like his old "Ignition". Then Moros informs Cassian that he runs the risk of becoming a bloodthirsty lunatic if he doesn't get a handle on his emotions from now on, forcing Cassian to do a better job of keeping his cool.
Cassian: You're right...I'm a Psyker so I should act like one. Rational and Calm. SO I'll KILL YOU!
  • Blue Is Heroic: As a Villain he has a blue color theme but is undoubtedly heroic.
  • Blood Knight: He certainly enjoys fighting against the strong.
  • Boxing Battler: He fights like a kickboxer, taking up a boxing stance when dealing with school bullies while keeping one knee propped up to get ready to lunge or kick at someone. This proves to be a devastating combination with his shadowy powers and a Villain's natural super strength.
  • Bully Hunter: Cassian despises those who look down on others and is quick to pick fights with bullies. In his early days as a Psyker he knocked out someone trying to haze him with one punch, even goading him into fighting without mitts to lull him into a false sense of security. As Gangu, he quickly beats the snot out of all of the boy's old bullies.
Cassian: You need to be taught a lesson. My fists will do the teaching.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Cassian is Korean-born but spent most of his life in the U.S. after being adopted by an American couple. He's still mostly fluent in Korean, though he's rusty enough that he mistakes the Korean words for "sword of annihilation" for "scrap metal sword".
  • Boring, but Practical: Gangu has the unique ability to drain the magic stones from other objects, allowing him to consume them to gain power. Cassian is initially disappointed that this ability doesn't have any combat uses and is really boring, but the ability to take magic stones to strengthen himself proves invaluable and often gives him the powerup he needs for his next big fight. He is even able to drain the magic stone from Unkillable's ancient armor, giving him access to a portion of the abilities Unkillable had at his peak.
  • Casting a Shadow: Gangu's abilities allow him to manipulate shadows for a variety of effects, ranging from shaping them into bladed weapons with his Shadow Slicer, cloaking himself in armor with claws, and even teleporting through shadows. He later develops the ability to entangle others in their own shadows and regains some of his old fire abilities through his newfound Flames of Darkness.
  • Character Catchphrase: When about to burn his opponent. "You guys can't even be recycled. I'll burn you all to ashes."
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: Cassian can't sit still when people are in trouble, disobeying orders in a heartbeat if it means getting a mother and her child to safety and roasting the people responsible. Even after being branded a Villain by the world at large, he continues to rush to help others even while the Heroes and even Villains are trying to kill him.
  • Character Development: He doesn't lose his steadfast attitude towards doing the right thing but it is notable that he, of all people, tells Uchan to be calm and rational in a real-time situation. He also no longer rushes to fight Villains who have not given him a valid reason to get involved.
  • Chef of Iron: Cassian will kick ass when he finds a fight coming to him, and is capable of cooking American dishes when he can. He just isn't yet familiar about Korean cuisine.
  • Costume Evolution: He changes from his original Dark Villain clothes to a more fashionable choice that is closer to his original Psyker attire.
  • Compulsory School Age: Cassian is subjected to this after reincarnating as Gangu since Gangu is 18 internationally and is still in high school.
  • Cowboy Cop: Cassian put little stock in orders and plans even before being betrayed by Lampas, ditching the undercover sting plan when villains lay hands on a mother and child, with the resulting explosive battle sparking a major scandal that led to him being put on probation for excessive force.
  • Crisis Makes Perfect: Cassian believes the best way to learn skills fast is through experiencing it in a live battle. He takes the chance to pick fights if he has something to gain from it.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Cassian is usually on the giving end of this, unless the opposing side is with more numbers, or they're someone who are skilled and strong as him, which is quite rare.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Gangu had the beginnings of becoming an immensely dangerous Villain with Casting a Shadow powers. But Cassian has since been using these powers to protect the innocents and beats the tar out of any Villains he encounters except those who have not crossed a serious line.
  • Defiant to the End: Cassian is sniped in the middle of his battle with Jack and Lyra. Rather than surrendering, Cassian uses the strongest attack he can muster as a smokescreen before trying to get away. He's then shot through the chest and left to fall into the Mediterranean.
  • Determinator: When he sees something wrong, he will fight tooth and nail to make it right.
  • The Dreaded: Even an A Rank Villain like Ralph seems to want nothing to do with him. After being reincarnated as Gangu this is not the case as Villains have no idea how capable or who he is.
  • Dub Personality Change: In the English localization he seems like he wants to give genuine advice to the bullies while in the original it's spelled out clearly he wants them to get lost for annoying him and trying to get at him with their pathetic skills.
  • Dynamic Entry: Cassian has a knack for making big entrances, especially when he can gain the advantage first.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: Does this to Driver. The other Villains refuse to acknowledge this.
    • He later invokes this when facing Mujin and tries use this to goad the other Vilzone boss into fighting him.
  • Destination Defenestration: He does this to a thug and also drags off another one off the bus in the prologue as Cassian cannot stand the hostages being abused.
  • Driven to Suicide: He almost does this after finding that he now has become a Villain and is one with the potential of threatening the world.
  • Eating Lunch Alone: Gangu likely did this as he was a bully victim and Cassian does this at Gadam High School as he doesn't have friends there.
  • Experienced Protagonist: Cassian was one of the most famous and powerful Psykers in the world at the time of his death. His name was known the world over, which only magnified the scandals he created while going off on his own as a Cowboy Cop. His experience works to his advantage while learning to use his new powers as well as take on foes who are stronger than him in raw numbers.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Cassian styles Gangu's hair into his more familiar Spiky Hair compared to Gangu's non-descript combed hair, illustrating how he's taken over Gangu's life. Gangu's sister also comments on the change because of how different it is from the meek Gangu she knew before, as it's almost like he's a completely different person.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Cassian is aware that Daewung is just doing his job when the latter attacked him and is initially hesitant to drain the magic stones from Daewung's sword. Then he remembers how much it hurt to get cut by that sword and takes them anyway.
  • Enhanced Punch: In his Villain form he can do this by gathering dark energy and enhancing his physical strength to stand up to his opponents.
  • Elemental Punch
  • Elemental Barrier: His Shadow Armor.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Episode 0 shows Cassian disregarding orders and plans to instead fight Ralph himself all because the hostages were harmed.
  • Eye Poke: Cassian does this to the school bully Kwak Daegu.
    • Much later on he does this to Bloodrain to counter his hypnosis.
  • Facepalm of Doom: If Cassian has grabbed someone's face, expect him to immediately smash it into the ground brutally.
  • Fatal Flaw: Wrath. Cassian's Hair-Trigger Temper repeatedly comes back to bite him. His rage against Ralph the Clown results in an explosive fight that ends with Ralph getting away and being put on probation, his unwillingness to talk and coax information out of Jack and Lyra before fighting gets him killed, and his violent outbursts threaten to make him a full-on Villain should he ever completely lose himself to his emotions.
  • Fate Worse than Death: Upon discovering that he's inherited Gangu's destiny to become a Villain capable of bringing the end of the world, Cassian considers killing himself then and there until Moros snaps him out of it by explaining how much Jeff wanted Cassian to live.
  • Flaming Blade: When he summons a shadow blade and enhances it with his Dark Flame.
  • Flash Step: He moves so fast that he does this to his some of his opponents. Further enhanced with Shadow Dash.
  • Flipping the Bird: When Dark Glow orders him to come over he outright does this and returns the sentiment with a flat "No,you".
  • Friend to All Children
  • Full-Contact Magic: This was his specialty before his death as a Striker, combining his ability to produce fire with hand-to-hand combat. In fact, his raw firepower had others mistake him for a mage even though he graduated from the top of his class with a specialty in hand-to-hand. His experience carries over well to his new powers, which are much more bruiser-like.
  • Ghost Memory: Cassian inherited Gangu's memories upon taking over the boy's body, which leads to his Survivor Guilt when he realizes that Gangu has a sister who cares about him.
  • Good Is Not Dumb: Cassian's short-tempered personality results in him making mistakes that lead to his death. But he's far from stupid and is in fact an observant and highly experienced fighter in both ranged and hand-to-hand combat. He knows how to remain below the radar despite his activities as a "Villain" as well as other skills that a Psyker ought to know in emergency situations, such as basic first aid.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Despite being the hero of the story, Cassian is not soft, and has on numerous occasians engages in acts of extreme violence.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: In his Villain form he is drawn this way to emphasize extreme wrath in combat.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Cassian is irritable and quick to anger. He's repeatedly reminded to calm down and think rationally before acting, but he tends to rush in guns blazing rather than coming up with a plan. This would have turned him into a Villain for real if not for Moros, who notes that Cassian will go off the deep end if he keeps letting his emotions run wild like this.
  • Healing Factor: As Gangu, Cassian heals wounds faster than what would normally possible if he is in his Villain Form and he has enough mana to heal up. Cuts and scrapes vanish within several minutes to a few hours rather than multiple days when it is active. Cassian is savvy enough to cover any such wounds he gets in public in a band-aids, as he knows it would be suspicious if Gangu got injured and was found in perfect health the following day.
  • Henshin Hero: Inverted. Villains are naturally superhuman, but they can only unlock their full powers when they transform, subsequently donning battle attire and gaining new physical characteristics in a manner pertaining to their powers. Cassian, due to having the powers of a villain, plays this straight.
  • Heroic Build: As Gangu he gains one after a lot of training and physical tempering.
  • Hijacked Destiny: Due to taking over Gangu's body, Cassian has inherited Gangu's destiny to potentially become a Catastrophe class Villain.
  • Honor Before Reason: His pride as an ex-Psyker prevents him from exchanging texts and information with Driver, a known Villain. But he's able to swallow his pride enough to bring the phone Driver gave him with him, which proves essential when Driver texts him Bloodrain's location just in time to save Naeun.
  • Hot-Blooded: Cassian is naturally hot-headed and prone to rushing into the fray to protect others. Despite repeated reminders to calm down and think rationally, his emotions tend to run over easily, resulting in him picking fights that he often shouldn't.
  • Homing Projectile: By Season 2 his shadow blades can home in on his targets if he wills it.
  • Hero Protagonist: Zig-Zagged. He was a Psyker, a public symbol for Lampas and shown to save people, but as Gangu Gwon he is a Villain who must keep himself under the radar and get stronger.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: Played With Cassian's use of "excessive" force and lack of cooperation doesn't help his public image to rational adult. Aspiring Psykers like Uchan idolized him however. It is unknown if this is still the case after Lampas decides to ruin his name by accusing him of bribery and the murder of his best friend Jeff.
  • Instant Expert: It doesn't take Cassian long to master each of his new powers thanks to his vast experience and natural talent as a Psyker. Moros wonders if this potential and talent of Cassian's is why Jeff trusted him so much.
  • Instant Costume Change: Cassian is able to do this as Gangu by shifting to his Villain Form.
  • In-Series Nickname: Driver and Crow think of him as a Black Duck (translated as Dark Duckling in the Webtoons localization) and Redeye is noticeably confused by it.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Cassian is hot-headed, arrogant, and standoffish even on his best days. He was put on probation for using excessive force against a Villain and struggles to make friends because of his volatility. But he's a Psyker devoted to protecting others and cannot stand seeing innocents being hurt on his watch. Jeff also notes that for all of Cassian is more compassionate than anyone despite his bluster. Moros' memory of this conversation motivates him to give Cassian his full support.
  • Jumping on a Grenade: When Blaster straps a bomb to his chest, he jumps away from the hostages to absorb the force of the blast.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: He saves Naeun multiple tmes when she needs help the most.
  • Kingpin in His Gym: He is stated by Aroma to live in the Training room when he is in the Gadam Vilzone, and we see Cassian frequently training to become stronger.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Cassian's new shadowy powers make him lightning fast, incredibly strong, and tough. He's strong enough to easily crush concrete, tough enough to survive having a bomb strapped to his chest go off with few visible wounds, and can slink through shadows to rapidly cross distances. He is able to get away with a slash wound from an enhanced magical sword and heal up in minutes.
  • Last Resort Takeout: Played with. While Cassian is cooking breakfast, it is because he is distracted when talking to Moros that he burns his cooking. Yuri is right when she assumes he is eating convenience store food, but he eats the burnt food to go along with it anyways.
  • Made Out to Be a Jerkass: Cassian is not the most sociable person, and his limited abrasive interactions with Chaeha causes Chaeha to revel in the opportunity to direct Dark Glow towards him by pointing out Cassian's bad points in an exaggerated manner.
  • Meet Cute: He meets Naeun in his human form as their hands touch in the bookshop.
  • Meaningful Echo: He mirrors Jeff's words about what's right to an uneasy Uchan about the lines between Villains and Psykers.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: Gangu was a scrawny, bullied teenager at the time of his death, but Cassian's superior hand-to-hand combat skills let him easily beat up five school bullies while barely getting scratched, though a Villain's naturally superhuman physical attributes after awakening certainly helped. Subverted later on though, as Cassian built a rather impressive physique in Gangu’s body, as seen in Chapter 35.
  • Non-Indicative Name: His Shadow Armor is this, as it is actually a temporary blue domed barrier.
  • No-Sell: He takes on Mujin's ultimate attack with his shadow armor and makes it look effortless.
  • Offhand Backhand: He does this to Double Blade for trying to sneak up on him in a gang fight.
  • One-Man Army: Is able to casually fight off hordes of mooks from the Northern Vilzone without breaking a sweat.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: While most of his body is covered by his generated villainous battle attire, Cassian makes no attempt to hide his face aside from the natural line markings that appear on it and his eyes changing from brown to blue and gold eyes. Despite this, no one is able to discover his new identity as Gangu.
    • Kim Uchan may have noticed but it is unknown if his suspicions were cleared from Cassian's band-aid trick.
    • Might be Played With; as seen with Bloodrain, Villain forms can look drastically different from their civvie selves, so appearances can be deceiving.
  • Personality Powers: In his former life, Cassian was a powerful fire Psyker to match his hot-headed and volatile personality.
  • Playing with Fire: Cassian's original Psyker power was "Ignition", letting him produce destructive streams of fire from his hands. He later regains this ability to an extent after eating the magic stones from Daewung's sword, gaining "Flames of Darkness" able to burn like real fire.
  • Possessing a Dead Body: Gangu Gwon was dead when Moros transplanted Cassian's soul into his body. Cassian is horrified to learn that Gangu was supposed to survive but died as a result of Cassian taking over his destiny.
  • Post-Victory Collapse: Collapses into Driver's arms after the gang fight and he is exhausted from releasing his latent energy during his berserk.
  • Power Level: At his peak, Cassian possessed magic points of more than 1,500. He's dismayed to learn that as Gangu he has an intiial power of a mere 300 points. However, this gradually grows throughout the story, gaining additional powers as he continues to strengthen himself to deal with Villains and Psykers alike. He currently has magic points of 1345.
  • Protagonist Power-Up Privileges: It is clear to everyone who has seen Cassian's fire and darkness attributes that he has a dual attribute. This comes as a shock to everyone, as this is unprecedented or not been recorded before.
    • Driver secretly theorizes that he is a return of an ancient power, as it the only sighting before was from the Mythical Age.
  • Power Fist: While he was barehanded as a Psyker, he wears clawed gauntlets that protect him as a Villain.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: If his opponents are not skilled enough to go against him, he will seriously do this to them.
  • Red Is Heroic: Cassian's Psyker outfit in his old life consisted of a red and black coat and matching jeans.
    • It should be noted his style rubs off on Uchan as Uchan takes him for a role model as his style is very similarly based.
  • Red Baron: Once he defeats the Psyker special team and also Shinhwa with Mujin, he is called the Black Devil and gains infamy in Korea.
  • Real Name as an Alias: He uses Cassian as his Villain name. It makes Yu Chaeha and Driver reel in shock.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: This is what he usually did to protect others. After takiing over Gangu, he tends to just do this without anyone else to stop him as a Villain.
  • Smarter Than You Look: Moros teases Cassian for his short temper, but when Cassian isn't being an arrogant hot-head he's shown to be quite intelligent. On top of being an incredible fist fighter, he mentions reading a lot in his childhood and seeing a copy of the "Bride of Corinth" is enough to jog his memory of a quote from the book, allowing him to identify Bloodrain's Secret Identity.
  • Spiky Hair: Cassian had this in his old life and quickly styles Gangu's hair into a spiky mess the way he used to have it.
  • Save the Jerk: Unintentionally saves Gangu's bully by pointing out he's a dummy. He then throws down the book at the bully's face when down.
  • Stock Shōnen Hero: Cassian is a fiery, headstrong individual with a strong arrogant streak who frequently disregarded orders in pursuit of what he feels is just. Prior to his death, he possessed the power "Ignition", letting him emit streams of fire from his hands to match his Hot-Blooded personality. But as Gwon Gangu, he's far more of a bruiser who overwhelms his opponents through his new ability to manipulate shadows to improve his strength, speed, and endurance.
  • Survivor Guilt: Cassian feels guilty for living when Jeff didn't and for inadvertently causing Gangu to die by taking over his life. This is also why he makes sure to continue living as Gangu and treat his sister well as a means of atonement, as well as using Gangu's villainous powers as a tool for good.
  • Sharing a Body: In Episode 32, Cassian hears Gangu talking down to him for being garbage who can only do that much after stealing his body and that causes Moros's suppression of Cassian's wrath towards Lampas and Villains to explode. It is implied that it is Gangu's Villainous desires taking control of him, however.
Gangu: Is this all you have? Weakling. You took over my body and this is all you amount to?!... Just die.
    Cassian: I...Am...
  • Strong and Skilled: In his former life, Cassian possessed both incredibly high spell power and the skills in hand-to-hand combat to make use of them. Because of this, he was The Dreaded to even A Rank Villains and could even take on two S Rank Psykers at once without being at a disadvantage, only losing to the unexpected gunshot from the sniper. As Gangu, his new powers grant him superhuman strength, speed, and durability even though his spell power is far lower than it once was, but his fighting skills make up the difference against most opponents. It shows especially against Barracuda as while Cassian was B Ranked then he was able to outfight and eventually overpower the S Rank Villain.
  • Skipping School: Cassian calls in sick to track down Bloodrain near Seohwa High School.
  • Secret Public Identity: He uses his first name "Cassian" as his Villain name when he is Gwon Gangu.
  • Skewed Priorities: Cassian takes his midterms more seriously than fighting Barracuda. He isn't called out for it by the other executives, however.
  • Superpower Lottery: As the series goes on it is clear that had Cassian not taken over, Gangu would have won big with this, as his powers are so potent Cassian is able to become strong quite fast, and has unique abilities normal Villains are incapable of doing.
  • Swiss Bank Account: He has one under his Cassian Lee name as Jeff told him to set it up just in case. As Gwon Gangu, he uses it to invest in his strength with Magic Crystals.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Gangu had Tareme Eyes to emphasize his meek, easily-bullied personality. By contrast, Cassian has much sharper eyes that emphasize his confident, aggressive persona.
  • Technicolor Fire: The fire he wields is Dark coloured and Darkness based. The fire also has interesting properties such as being able to devour normal flames and has Soul Power properties of its own that allows it to burn spirits, which Moros realises isn't normal.
  • Throw the Book at Them: He uses a book to smack a Villain dummy and tosses a book at his former bully afterward.
  • The McCoy: Cassian refuses to give up on the hostages even it means going up against every Psyker and Villain around early. This trait proves to Moros he is who Jeff said he was and is doing what's right no matter what.
Cassian: They took hostages! A mother and her child,at that. I know they're in trouble. Turning a blind eye... Is not in my book.
  • Traumatic Superpower Awakening: He awakens as a Villain through his grief and anger towards losing his closest friend Jeff. His powers as Gangu also tend to reach their maximum output in waves of extreme rage.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Once he got mad, he gives off an energy wave of more than 2000 magic points, signifying Catastrophe class energy, and goes on to slice through his restraints while blowing his enemies away.
  • Unblockable Attack: His shadow blades are shown to be absurdly sharp and the larger ones can pierce through most things but are slower and easier to dodge.
  • Use Your Head: He is subject to this by Barracuda in their first fight. Come a month later, he returns the favor in their second fight.
  • Vague Age: While Gangu is stated to be 18, Cassian is vaguely revealed by the author to be in his late twenties at the time of his death.
  • Villain Protagonist: As Gangu Gwon he qualifies as he has Villain based powers and is treated by the general public, other Villains and Psykers as such. But on the inside is Cassian Lee, a brave soul whom Jeff picked as he knows under the rough exterior, is a man with more compassion than anyone else.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Relatively speaking, Cassian's powers as Gwon Gangu are a fraction of what they were at his peak as a Psyker at the start of the story. But his years of experience means that he's an expert at hand-to-hand combat and utilizing the environment to his advantage, letting him take on Villains who have more than three times his raw power. He's able to fight those with more raw power than him with his skills and experience.
  • Wolverine Claws: Gangu's powers create shadowy gauntlets with claw-tipped fingers on each of his arms.
  • Wake Up, Go to School & Save the World: Cassian never had to deal with schoolwork since he was a fully fledged Psyker. After returning as Gangu he must now deal with school while dealing with his vigilante activities in his Villain Form. He even calls in sick to track down Bloodrain.
    • He later puts off the Northern District Vilzone conflict due to him viewing it as less important than his midterms.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: He admonishes Uchan for almost killing a civilian that is controlled by Toy Maker, and tells him to act rationally and calmly, mirroring his former superior Tuppence's words.
  • Young and in Charge: He is technically this to the Gadam Vilzone as Driver, Crow, and Redeye are over 20 years old. However, this only applies to Cassian’s physical age as Gangu since mentally, Cassian would be the same age—if not older—than them.

    Moros

My name is Moros. I'm a mighty soul from ancient times.
CLICK here to see a glimpse of what he hides

"You clueless insolent subject of a ghost. You were merely a Disaster class Villain in life. How dare you... to imitate God and DREAM of eternal life. DISAPPEAR"

The ancient necklace artifact that hosts a self proclaimed "Mighty Soul", Moros was formerly owned by Jeff but handed to Cassian in Jeff's final moments. He resurrects and assists Cassian in his new life as Gwon Gangu but is prone to arguing with him at every turn. Moros is the deuteragonist of the story.

  • And Then What?: He asks Cassian this. When he hears the answer he realises Cassian is far from finding it.
  • Artifact of Power: He is mentioned to be very old, and is implied to have been around since the days of the original mythical war between the child of Day and Night.
  • Author Avatar: He is frequently used as Fupin's avatar in bonus chapter material and their social media.
  • Berserk Button: Daring to imitate god as a human.
  • Black Knight: Is this when punishing Unkillable.
  • Diagnosis from Dr. Badass: Moros is able to figure out a person's medical condition by simply scanning them.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He does this to Cassian frequently but will work with him to do what is right.
  • Deuteragonist
  • Enemy Scan: Does this frequently to help Cassian and show off the moves of their enemies.
  • Faceless Eye
  • Historical Rap Sheet: He has a Mysterious Past and is stated by himself to be an ancient collector of knowledge. He was also watching when Unkillable was burned at the stake.
  • Invisible to Normals: Moros is only visible and audible to the one who owns his necklace. He's completely undetectable to everyone else, as shown when Cassian confronts Gangu's bullies and none of them notice Moros floating next to him.

The duty of a Psyker is pursuit of Justice.
Click here to see him disguised as Villain "Red Mask"
"The only answer for a Villain...is annihilation."
"Manners maketh the man...But you're all here like dogs trying to bite without knocking. Retards. My name is... Gadam's Strongest Villain, Red Mask!"

A student at Gadam High School and is a third year high school schoolmate of Gangu Gwon. He is a Psyker trainee apprenticing under Lee Daewung and rising star of Lampas, with Cassian Lee as his role model. He is the tritagonist of the story.

  • The Ace: He's considered a rising star in the Psyker world, with excellent grades, a powerful fire ability, and looks that would put actors to shame.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: His flame spear is shown to pierce Sungtae's stone pillars and knock him down.
  • Berserk Button: Don't touch on his sister.
  • Best Friend: To Seo Jiho.
  • Big Man on Campus: He has good grades, is popular and strong amongst his classmates and at school.
  • Big Brother Instinct: When Naeun is endangered expect him to lose it and be this. When Cassian as Gangu gets a gift from her, he's taken aback by Uchan's hostile atmosphere for a bit. Naeun's well being at risk by Ice Demon causes him to clear his mind and use Hellfire almost instinctively. When Inbeom harasses Naeun, he outright doesn't hide his malicious intent.
  • Big Damn Heroes: He uses a flame gust that he has perfected even more to save Dirt Dog from Sungtae and his posse of friends.
  • Blatant Lies: When his father is used as an insult to him by Sungtae, he slowly starts to boil in rage while saying he is not mad.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: He is considered to be attractive, and catches the attention of numerous girls around him. When Minyounh gives him a gift, he doesn't consider it to be personal.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: When confronting Cassian he begins to think about a funeral he was attending for his supposed Father. It's later revealed his Father was killed and he aims to be a Top Class Psyker to get his revenge.
  • Elemental Punch: Tends to use his flames as an extension of his melee strikes.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Downplayed. He and Daewung discuss this when they are in the hospital for taking Cassian's credit for Bloodrain's defeat and he feels this way after seeing everyone praise him for Toymaker's defeat though without Cassian's help he may not have won.
  • Fiery Redhead: Plays this straight. He's more prone to losing his temper on Villains than Cassian of all people in a fight.
  • For Great Justice: He starts off ranting about how Villains must be annihilated, but as he goes on is baffled and shocked by Cassian's enigmatic actions. He begins to doubt the "justice" he believes in.
  • Foil: Is this to Cassian and Gangu. He and Cassian are both with flame powers, have a strong sense of Justice, are well known, both with an interest in cooking with them looking for the same book. Their differences are shown throughout the story as while Cassian is a Hero with Bad Publicity, Uchan is mostly a very positively received Psyker, Cassian is now a Villain, Uchan is a Psyker, and while Cassian has been making a conscious effort to learning and keeping his anger in check in fights, Uchan loses his cool and lets his anger take over when battling Villains throughout Season 1.
    • In Gangu's case, they both have sisters and superhuman origins, but while Uchan is the most popular guy in school, Gangu was a bullied kid who never discovered his Villain powers while Uchan has had them from as early an age in meeting Cassian Lee as a Psyker trainee.
  • Full-Name Basis: He is on these terms with Gwon Gangu as they are just acquainted and not close.
  • Gotta Kill Them All: Has a belief in exterminating all Villains throughout Season 1. He gets better over time as his viewpoint towards the world improves.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: He holds his own against Blood moreso than Daewung is able to.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Moros mentions that Uchan looks up to Cassian in particular due to their similar fire-based Striker powers.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: He qualifies due to being a handsome youthful hero.
  • Lovable Jock: He initially decides to defend Gangu from the three bullies but then keeps him from going too far on the delinquents.
  • Mistaken for Gay: When he gifts a pink bag to Cassian in a hallway and yelling he won't ever let him go with girls around, they mistake it for him coming out and it explodes in popularity on Instargram.
  • Out of Focus: He is noticeably not so prominent in Season 2 as opposed to Season 1 as he is not directly related to Winterbell and Season 2 is focused more on conflicts arising amongst the Villain factions, at least until he meets Gangu and is provoked by Sungtae into fighting the Psyker trainees. Even then, his role is ended with the Psyker team revealing themselves.
  • Playing with Fire: He's able to emit fire from his hands the way Cassian used to, and shape them into many distinct forms as skills.
  • Power Level: Undecided.
  • Rooftop Confrontation: He is challenged by Bloodrain to this.
  • Red Is Heroic: Has a red styled uniform and red hair, likely to be based after Cassian Lee.
  • Relative Ridicule: Sungtae insulting him for not honoring his father's legacy causes him to disregard his concern for Sungtae and In-beom's safety.
  • Revenge: What ultimately drives his actions as a Psyker and leads to his brashness during Season 1, due to his father's death. He was on a one-track mindset to destroy any Villain, even at the cost of innocent lives, though luckily Cassian and Daewung are around to pull him from that dark path.
  • Supporting Protagonist: Depending on his actions in future, he can be seen as this.
  • Second Episode Introduction: Is introduced in Episode 3 due to Cassian's troubles after his reincarnation.
  • The Squire: He qualifies due to being partnered with Daewung, a Knight class Psyker.
  • The Stoic: He usually shows no emotions on his face, not even when he was at his father's funeral watching his mother and sister crying while surrounded by men in suits. He shows emotions on his face when he is frustrated or rageful about Villains and touching on his sister's safety.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After he trains hard after suffering near defeats to Bloodrain and Toymaker, he trains a lot harder and is much more flexible as a result of seeing Cassian's strength. He is able to narrowly defeat Ice Demon, and much later on give Sungtae an almost effortless defeat.
  • Tritagonist
  • Tall Poppy Syndrome: He attracts a lot of haters amongst Psyker apprentices who feel he is underserving of such.
  • Threat Backfire: He subtly threatens them to never meet him as Red Mask, for his wrath would not be stopped then, though they disregard it as they have never heard of Red Mask let alone know that Red Mask is actually Uchan himself.
  • Well-Trained, but Inexperienced: He goes straight to trying to burn a gifted wrapped civilian he mistakes for the Villain. Cassian luckily saves him from making the mistake of hurting a civilian.
  • The Worf Effect: He is swiftly defeated by Bloodrain both times they clash and sets up how much stronger Cassian has become.
  • Wake Up, Go to School & Save the World: He is seen attending class in his debut and later must go through his duties as a Psyker.
  • You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry!: He tells Sungtae and In-beom to never meet Red Mask in Gadam, as it implies he is fully willing to camp out as Red Mask and hold nothing back in a beating against them for insulting him with his father's name.

Challenge me if you dare.
CLICK here to see her unmasked face

" (Mujin) I'll put it bluntly. I don't recognise you as a Vilzone boss. Of course... just looking at it, I can tell that Driver who is cunning made that decision for you as a proxy. I don't like watching unqualified garbage squirm around wildly like cockroaches."
" (Jina) I'll say it again, whatever cards I can use to become that Monarch...I'll make it mine by any means."
The [S] Rank Boss of the Southern District Vilzone. The Leader of the Sword Family of Evil in Winterbell. Later revealed by Moros to actually be an Outer. She is in her twenties. She becomes an official Lord after her trip to France.
  • Ancestral Weapon: She wields both the twin Black Dragon Sword and White Tiger Sword after Cassian retrieves the second one.

  • Bridal Carry: Cassian gives her one when he saves her from the Shinhwa trap. She then gives one to Aroma once she gets out of bed to verify her strange feelings towards Cassian.

  • Creepy Monotone: Speaks in a monotone robotic voice even when in the presence of only their number 2. It creeps out the negotiator sent by Money King.
  • Chekhov's Gift: She receives artificial magic stones from Money King. Not needing them as an Outer, she passes it over to Cassian... who himself has no need for them anymore with his maximum resistance. He then decides to just hand it to the idiot trio and Black Ghost.
  • The Chains of Commanding: Is seen being stressed by her position as a leader of Winterbell and the Namkang District Vilzone.
  • Defeat Means Respect: Has no choice but to acknowledge Cassian's strength, skills and confident after clashing with him.
  • Dual Wielding: She wields a long curved sword in his left hand and a short sword in her right hand. After Cassian retrieves her family sword she dual wields both her swords.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: Thinks Cassian is crazy for picking "Cassian" as his Villain name and assumes Cassian has no skills to back up his position as the new boss of the Gadam Vilzone.
  • Extra-ore-dinary: Is capable of strengthening any body part to the limit with their ore attribute.
  • High-Class Gloves
  • Instant Costume Change: Subverted. Moros reveals she cannot do this as she is actually an Outer.
  • Implausible Fencing Powers: Is able to slice through buildings with a single enhanced slash of their blade.
  • Katanas Are Better: Wields one, though it might be a korean jingum with the similarities, as their main weapon.
  • Lady of War

  • Meaningful Name: Their Villain name is korean for limitless and inexhaustible.
  • Not Bad: She can only acknowledge Cassian's skills and confidence as she continues to fight him.
  • Power Level: S Rank.
  • Sarashi: Wears one when dressed as Mujin.
  • Samus Is a Girl: She takes off her mask and removes her voice modulator to reveal her true face and gender.
  • Secret Identity Vocal Shift: She acts this way as Mujin by acting authoritative and insulting in her masked form when her voice changer is active and is noticeably nicer when acting as just Jinah.
  • Ship Tease: Both Cassian and Jina acknowledge each other, and are implied to be capable of more.
  • Sword Beam: She is capable of doing this with magically enhanced slashes of her sword.
  • They Call Him "Sword": Mujin is referred to as the "Sword of Evil" for exceptional swordsmanship.
  • Worthy Opponent: Does not say it to Cassian but expresses that Cassian is this to her in the presence of her vassals, even acknowledging to Guinseo that he is better than her.

A hottie at their finest

An [A+] Rank Psyker who is superior to Lee Daewung and Kim Uchan.

  • Always Someone Better: Cassian Lee was this to her as he achieved the Psyker's goal of Top Class Psyker at a younger age than she was 4 years before the story begins. She met him in America and had to admit there were skys beyond skies she herself was unaware of.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: Is this as she doesn't care for most Villains in Korea, save for Driver and Mujin. She doesn't seem to understand Cassian is much more skilled and powerful than she could imagine, or that other Villains are and can pose a serious threat.
  • Berserk Button: Slacking on the job as a Psyker. She loses it at Daewung's incompetence at times.
  • Da Chief: Section Chief of the Korean Lampas Branch.
  • Hero Antagonist: Trashes the Gadam Vilzone on the news. She wants to help people at heart but is unaware of how dangerous her actions can be, at least until after she reads the Northern Vilzone brawl damage report and realises the media is being manipulated.
  • Power Level: A+ Rank.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She doesn't hold Cassian responsible for the Psyker team's defeat and reasons that arresting Madpin and the former Chief Elder is alright as compensation for the trouble.

He must be worse than me! I swear!
"We can easily steamroll a Vilzone with our power. They're just barbaric Villains and we;re Elites who have finished combat classes. It's like the difference between children and adults."
A Psyker Apprentice who is introduced harassing Naeun. He holds contempt for Uchan and Jiho, and is under Bang Sung Tae.
  • Blatant Lies: He mouths Uchan and Jiho off to Sungtae, who doesn't feel it is worth listening to until Sung-Tae is provoked into believing Uchan thinks nothing of them.
  • The Corrupter: He slowly goads Sungtae into fighting the Gadam Vilzone and wishes to manipulate the Psyker students with their debts.
  • Dirty Coward: He runs his mouth, believing Psyker trainees are capable of taking on an entire Vilzone and doesn't intend on taking responsibility when he loses.
  • Dramatic Irony: Believes Gadam Villains are weak and untrained. If only he wasn't so out of touch with reality...
  • First-Name Basis: He frequently attempts to call Sungtae without his family name to elicit closeness with him.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He constantly pushes the worst of Bang Sungtae, and goes behind his back to beg Kang Siwoo to help them by taking advantage of her Big Sister Instinct.
  • Psychological Projection: He claims he stopped Uchan when he was harassing a girl when it was in fact the reverse, and that he was ganged up on in return, when they did not even bother.
  • Tall Poppy Syndrome: Feels resentment towards Uchan and Jiho for having the experience and popularity from fighting Bloodrain and Toymaker.

  • Deal with the Devil: He must follow Neo Capital's orders to fight the Vilzone or his father's company is bankrupt.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: He is capable of manipulating earth to form a stone shield and move earth up to form stone pillars as a wave.
  • Dramatic Irony: He and In-Beom consider the Gadam Villains helpless as they cannot beat organised trained Psykers. In reality, Cassian, Driver and Crow are way above the standard of regular Villains, Black Ghost is a well experienced and trained fighter, and the idiot trio are getting trained to fight by Cassian and Black Ghost.
  • Elemental Armor: He is able to reinforce his arms and instantly form a Stone Shield.

"That abominable, despicable Darkness you possess...shall be purified by LIGHT!"

An [A] Ranked Villain vassal of Winterbell serving under Mujin. He has an obsession with Light and hates Darkness.

  • Curb-Stomp Battle: He quickly loses to Cassian as he is clearly not a very skilled fighter and Cassian is too far beyond him to fight.
  • Didn't Think This Through: He anticipates Cassian using his shadow and darkness skills and blocks it off using his Light Orbs, but doesn't realise Cassian would just resort to beating him into the ground since he is in melee range anyways and the light is moved away during his ultimate skill enough for Cassian to use his shadows. He also didn't consider that Cassian would beyond him after hearing that he is approved by both Mujin and Driver.
  • Irony: Is a Villain who spouts about purifying with Light when most Villains are implied to be closer to Darkness and attempting to fight Cassian because he doesn't feel Mujin's approval is enough.
  • Ironic Echo: He warns Cassian of the dangers of the Crow's Sealed Room but Cassian doesn't take it seriously. Cassian repeats similar words to Mujin and he rants about how Mujin doesn't need those words only to get shut down quickly as Mujin actually acknowledges it.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Is usually seen with his eyes closed in his normal form.
  • Finishing Move: His Shining Spear attack.
  • Light 'em Up: His main strategy using his attribute.
  • Limit Break: Undoes his limit to fight Cassian. The aftereffects cause him to fuss over minor details and what he sees as dirty.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: In the aftereffects of his Limit, he desires to shine even a simple plate. Cassian soon decides to mock him frequently based on this.
  • Only Sane Man: Played for Laughs, as he feels this way since everyone in the room in the discussion, even La-Finette, isn't worried about facing Peony and he is clearly unnerved.
  • Power Level: [A] Rank when limited, and [S] Rank with his limit off.
  • The Proud Elite: Doesn't seem to be a trained fighter, is arrogant and doesn't want to admit he is inferior to Cassian.
