That's pretty good, sounds just like what the fourth volume would be about, though my version of a modern League would include.

  • Mina Murray
  • Orlando
  • Emma Peel
  • The Gally-Wag, his location is unknown in the Third Volume, if he's still alive he might join the League...he strikes me as being fairly loyal to Mina and that voice of his makes him a living weapon of mass destruction
  • Jack Nemo
Now those are the people I believe have the highest chance of appearing, here are two people who stand a reasonably good chance at getting in.
  • Pete Munch, father or John Munch. He witnessed the army of Lunar Amazons as they marched out against the Selenites. He and the men he was with atthe time might have left their own moonbase to try and find it, but given the desire the Amazons have to not get found they'd probably have to fight for their lives, he might hear of the League's existence through this however and upon his return to Earth begins to try and find them. Finally succeeding decades later. If he were in it he could hold a similar position to Fox Mulder...and be like the new Quatermain of the group (elderly adventurer.)
  • Christian, it was made clear in the Black Dossier that he (at least at first) didn't like Prospero. Prospero planning to invade the Earth could be enough to drive Christian to stop him, though the reason he leaves the Blazing World could just be that he wants to find Orlando on the grounds that he might not be able to succeed otherwise.

If a Gondor Calls for Aid moment occurs with the League, we could see Toyland, Fanny Hill, and the Lunar Amazons aiding them. One other change I'd add is showing that HAL is assisted by a female AI he took on as his partner and lover.

By 2016, the second American Civil war was over, but World War IV was just beginning, at the same time though a miner from another world named Simon came back to Earth after a visit in the fifties, found out about Makarov's deception and decided to form a League out of several metahumans he'd found through files he gained from a friendly time traveler. The base used by this group was an island Noah discovered.

  • Jason Fox, a sixteen year old genius who had profited off of the confusion caused by the Civil War. He was taken in by Simon once he realizes that he'd get drafted into the US army if he didn't go with Simon. His main role in providing them with the gear they use and preforming research for them.
  • Leatherface, an elderly but tough serial killer from Texas. Unlike the rest of his family and most serial killers though, he really only killed out of fear, Simon recognized this and took the poor soul into his care. Gaining the loyalty of him proved effective as Leatherface became a source of brute muscle that the group used to great effect.
  • Agent 47, a professional assassin who works for a secret organization based around assassinating people. Simon convinced him to work for his League after providing a rather large retainer.
  • Tiny Tina, a 15 year old mad bomber from the future who fell backwards in time after fiddling with a blue phone booth she found. She landed in 2015 and built herself a stash of ammunition and bombs. Simon managed to get her to join on the grounds that she'd have a challenge worthy of her talents. Despite her irrational and crazy attitude, her skill with explosives is an invaluable asset to the team. Though Jason was annoyed by her yandere affections for him that lead her to almost try and murder his friend Eileen.
  • Noah Steven Mendez, a cousin of metahuman Isaac Mendez and contestant of Total Drama Island. In 2012 he was on a cruise and was washed overboard by accident, he survived by washing up onto an island with bizarre creatures and building a base there. Over time his brain grew greater and his body grew much stronger. When Simon came to the island he was able to recruit Noah by promising to give him advanced technology that could improve his live on the island.
  • John Munch, a policeman from New York with a fondness for conspiracy theories...which he was surprisingly right on often. Simon recruited him for the job of detective work and the fact he correctly figured out Makarov's deception by himself...he joined partially because he was fed up with nobody believing his theories.
  • Eva Crusoe, a descendent of Robinson Crusoe who was considered for service in the Canadian secret service. Instead she turned to a life of crime after she left Total Drama Island. She learned the tricks of the trade from a relative of hers named Shaundi, by the time of the League's forming she was doing gunrunning for the Russians but got caught. Joining Simon was the only real way she avoided the death sentence, by the end of her time there though she got romantically involved with Noah.

This group fought Makarov in addition to Dogbert and his second League, the reincarnated spirit of a criminal mastermind, the remains of Ravenwood, an otherworldly horror known as the Slender Man, and a conspiracy by the Death Eaters to bring a race of creatures called the Nightmares to Earth.

Continuing on from the "same-voice" Leagues, here's one for Nobuyuki Hiyama.

Formed and commanded by Tachibana, these extraordinary gentlemen serve as the guardians of Earth and justice!

  • Might Senpuji: the multibillionaire president of a train company, Might has dedicated his life to fighting crime. With support from his wife Sally, and his AI-controlled train Gaine, Might leads the League against forces that put the entire world at risk.
  • Viral: a Beastman who once commanded the Human Extermination Task Force, he joined with the League in order to protect his own race, eventually growing into a proper Heel–Face Turn. Serves as the team's Lancer.
  • Link: a time-displaced swordsman who, despite physically being baseline humanoid, has the skill and equipment to take on those far more powerful than him and come out alive, if not victorious.
  • The Flash: The Fastest Man Alive, former forensics specialist. While none of the XLG-ers are morons, the Flash stands out among them as The Smart Guy, despite being more laid-back even than Might.
  • Guy Shishioh: 11th-Hour Ranger from another universe who pulls a Big Damn Heroes to help out against the Final Boss. With the rest of 3-G, he Ascended to a Higher Plane of Existence with the collapse of the repli-Trinary Solar System, and manifests a physical form to fight alongside true heroes in their time of need. Is saved exclusively for the Grand Finale.

Villains include Hiei, a demonic thief; BlackWarGreymon, a nigh-invincible engine of destruction; and Nightmare, an Omnicidal Maniac of a swordsman known to slaughter entire cities at a time.

There're probably a few more roles worthy of mention, but those are the ones I'm most accustomed to.

And now, spinning out of my Simon League comes the second villain League of Dogbert. In 2017, World War IV was starting to die down and Dogbert knew his war profiteering scheme was bound to final soon. Intending to prolong the war so he could profit more, he formed a League of criminals to preform terrorist acts to spur the war on. Unlike his previous one he decided to form it out of criminals who weren't masterminds so he'd have an easier time in controlling them. The members were...

  • Axel Palmer, an insane serial killer from Canada. Dogbert found him in 1999 while exploring a mine he was planning to buy, at the time Axel was half dead from an open wound. Seeing the possibilities of having a slasher at his beck and call he saved Axel's life and gave him a cybernetic replacement for his missing appendage. Then put him in cold storage until he needed him, fortunatly he forgot about him...until he made this second League.
  • Sander Cohen, a former member of the US League until it disbanded in 2009. Cohen was living as a superpowered serial killer until Dogbert discovered him and persuaded him to join his gang of terrorists.
  • The Minotaur, another former member of the then disbanded US League. When the Second American Civil war broke out, The Minotaur gained a reputation for attacking the soldiers on either side. Dogbert got him to join through the promise of a massive bodycount.
  • Celeste, a courier turned violent mercenary. When the Second American Civil war destroyed the totalitarian city she lived in she fell in with Dogbert. She turned out to be very competent on the missions he gave her, her ability as a scout and sniper were especially notable. So few in his organization were surprised when he took her for it.
  • Shego, a supervillainess who took on the job due to the fact she was short on money at the time. While she wasn't in charge, over time it became apparent that she was not only more competent than the other members, but smarter as well. This got to the point where Dogbert almost had her killed because she could possibly overthrow him...but stopped him was the fact that Simon's League bought her off before the would-be murder happened.
  • Alejandro Quixote, descendent of Don Quixote and former contestant of Total Drama Island. Dogbert had an interest in him ever since Alejandro went on Total Drama Island, the reason was because Dogbert was fully aware that Alejandro was in fact a mutant with the power to create explosions with his mind. After he suffered severe wounds due to lava exposure, Dogbert took him in and put him through a bacta based healing trance. By the time Dogbert needed this League formed, Alejandro was healed and eager to pay back the dog for his help.
  • Wesley Gibson, a mass murdering criminal from another universe, Wesley had fled to Earth in 2014 after The Fraternity was exposed by The Authority and beaten by a massive superhero army. One of the 29 villains who successfully escaped getting arrested or killed, Dogbert chose to hire him for his powers of unerring aim...his involvement alone was enough reason for pretty much all superheroes to join in the fight.

In addition to his henchmen, Dogbert used blueprints found on Dr.Totenkoff's island to create an army of robots that he was going to sell to the highest bidding nation, but turned them on the army of heroes that came to get his League once Simon's League discovered it. Needless to say, Dogbert's League ended up getting beat by the combined forces of Simon's League, Flip's League, the VFD League, and a large number of superheroes. And while the League ended up in prison, Dogbert himself barely managed to escape getting caught.

Seki Toshihiko squad, go!

This one, just by nature of who's in it, is more like the Defenders, Marvel heroes gathered by Dr Strange on occasions where he wants a little insurance.

Gathered by the nice crossdresser who owns the little shop that wasn't there yesterday, they are:

  • Duo Maxwell, a demolitions expert and all around stand-up guy. Pilots a stealth mecha, if you can believe such a ridiculously badass thing was ever written. Bit of a ladies' man, despite being short and sixteen. Joined up because Sanzo convinced him he could still do good with Deathscythe even if his own world is peaceful now. Naturally his personal grand finale to the series will be a version of Endless Waltz that has to be seen to be believed.
  • Fred Luo, scion of one of the wealthiest Triads in human history. Bankroller of the entire exercise.
  • Genjo Sanzo, the coolest gunslinging priest who ever lived. Carries a scroll that can drop an astral nuke on evil, given enough warm-up time.
  • Mousse, a blind-as-a-bat martial artist who occasionally turns into a duck. Is accidentally drafted one day when Shampoo buys a very special love potion from D and gives Mousse as payment in duck-form. Mousse's personal epilogue involves Ahiru in some way; I'm not sure what.
  • Watari-sensei, the mad scientist ghost with a sex-change fixation! Technically he's an engineer, but he basically invents whatever he's in the mood to play with next. Can also bring his incredibly crappy drawings to life.
  • Normally I would include Benitora the Shadow-Man, but sadly the Samurai Deeper Kyo anime does not exist.

Villains include Scarecrow, Legato Bluesummers, and Yurimaru.

And now something very interestng but very different...descriptions of a few adventures of a a single person in the League World (as opposed to a League.) The person in question is a Internet Lord (advanced being made from the internet itself) named Trope-Tan, having grown up on a site known as TV Tropes she chose to (like many of her kind) leave her home in the internet to have adventures. Armed with several devices that included a Big Fucking Quill and a Russian revolver she braved the world with her pet dog. During her travels, some of her many adventures included breaking up a cat based crime syndicate, stopping a little white dog from taking over a nation of people with a bizarre language and shorter lifespans, hunting down Alex the Great as he terrorized the Bermuda Triangle, having an encounter with Tony Stark that turned out rather steamy, getting in a barfight with Grant Morrison, teaming up with Adam West to fight the resurrected Mr. Rictus, accidentally team traveling to and barely escaping form a bleak future, getting in an eating contest with The King, getting in a fight with Anonymous (another Internet Lord), meeting the Angry VideoGame Nerd and helping him kill Micheal Myers, clearing the names of some mercenaries, and kicking the shit out of time traveling Nazis.

Next up after this is my 30s League.

And folks, a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen that operated in the 1930s. Founded in 1934 when China and Japan began to invade America, the events of this disturbed Doc Savage who intelligence to assemble a second group of people to help drive back the invasion. The members were...

  • The Spider, a costumed adventurer with ultra violent tendencies that even spooked Salvador. His skill in hypnotism and the disguise arts made him a valuable asst, albeit one that was hard to control.
  • Salvador, a gunslinger from the future who got displaced in time after getting hit by a flying delorian. He wound up in the group on the terms he could go back to his time (which he did in 1941 after meeting a man with a time traveling phone booth
  • Rufus T. Firefly, a wisecracking and insane aristocrat from Freedonia. His country was in another economic crisis at the time and Budd offered to bail it out if he joined. Despite his insane attitude he was surprisingly competent in fighting, often enraging his enemies with his abusive ad libs. In the darkest days of the war he exceeded everyone's expectations when he borrowed an experimental Gummi Ship and went to an alternate Britannia to steal around twenty vehicles known as the "Knightmares". Then using them to to almost singlehandedly defeat the Chinese army besieging the East coast, though after the war Budd had the Knightmares hidden from the Government so they couldn't get used for the wrong purposes.
  • Jimmy Christopher, an agent of the US government who was recruited by Budd so he'd have a liason with the US Government. He was the only member who died.
  • Hugo Danner, a metahuman with superhuman strength and durability. He'd seemingly died from a lightning bolt that struck him in 1927 and wound up buried alive, in 1930 he dug his way out of his own grave and Walked the Earth. He was found by Budd and recruited into the League because Danner had decided that God spared him because he needed to do something good with his power.
  • The Domino Lady, a female costumed adventurer with a lot of sex appeal. She was brought in because of her ability to seduce men...not to mention the fact she was pretty damn tough when she wanted to be. Later on in the war she discovered she could channel an energy that would later be known as Spiral Power.
  • Nemo Bauer, a paranormal detective with mystical powers he gained from an alternate dimension he tended to visit as a child. While being a rather odd person he was more competent that others would normally think. He's also the ancestor of the spy Jack Bauer.

The main enemy fought by this group were the Chinese and Japanese forces led by a Japanese princess known as "She".

I've been thinking of something kind of a parody, The League of Extraordinary Morons, in which the government assembled it to give the morons a job and to make them not interfere with the real League, its members:

  • Wheatley, a core that once belonged to an advanced AI. It survived the reentry at the atmosphere and now he is the Mission Control of the LXM. note
  • Cirno, a fairy with the power to control ice, who, after being tossed to another world thanks to the Troll of Gensokyo, in which his power is diminished, tries to return in exchange for her services. note
  • Ed Edd And Eddy, a group of three boys who were recruited to serve as the builders, resource captation and testing of the gadgets to be used by the league. note
  • Shinchiro Tamaki, self-proclaimed military genius tactician and Zero's best buddy. note
  • Inspector Gadget, the team's detective.
  • Deadpool, the team's ninja, (theoretically) infiltration and sabotage. note
  • Ezekiel (older), born in the Yukon, he is the survivalist-rapper specialist of the team.

This is more like a stub, and Cirno ended being The Chick, but I'm still wondering what missions they could be assigned.

Hi everybody, please forgive my bad english. i think i get the "rules" to make a league that make at least some sense together as a group. The members of the league must be:

1. Fictional (Villains can be fictional version of real people)

2. British (At least as british as posible: i think nemo is "technically" british; Orlando has been british the last part of his life; for Prospero's and Gulliver's leagues with an italian, a spanish, a pilgrim, an american and a french couple , the explanation will be the next rule). Of course, i see some list that are all american or one from every superpower , as an U.N. League or something, that makes sense too.

3. From the same time (Again, as far as posible: Dupin was probably over 100 for the Vol.1)This is why i feel something a little out of place when people put superheroes on their lists, the only way i see to get supers in to the League's world is something like Planetary did with the Fantastic Four , the X-men First Class movie or Batman/Superman: Generations. They act just like every other charcather in this world, their adventures begins when they are first published. Something else i had issues with, are the videogames, mostly beacuse is hard to make them age , but also because most of them aren't really that interesting.(Better explained in rule 4). An example of the way the superheroes could be done is Batman , he does most of his public life in the years in the 1940's (i think it could be done something about Mccarthy, but not really sure how). By 1960's he has become a well intentioned but ineffective fat middle-aged man, almost a joke of himself, so he retires. He "returns" to the public life in 1986, but as a mentor of the new batman Terry Mc Gynnis.

Again Orlando could be a problem, because he is inmortal, so why not make a bunch of people inmortal too? Well, the real league has Orlando, Mina and Allan. 3 isnt to much trouble, even better, Allan is dead now, but it could be replaced by Emma Peel as an inmortal member? Now,Prospero is inmortal in the Blazing World, Haddo was kind of inmortal too, and it seem that every generation will have a Nemo. At least four kinds of inmortality, but all four explained how they work, not just mixing characthers from the early 20th century with charachter of the 80's and 90's and even the future.

4.Interesting (almoust too obvious, isn't?). The key here is , the character must be interesting, not their world. That's why Moore uses the War of the Worlds and 1984 as a setting, but almost none of its characthers. And that is why Mina's First League had 2 villains and 1 anti-villain, those characters are more interesting. Also, the members of the league must me equally interesting and equally famous ( a problem with 1910, i didn't really cared about A.J and Tom, and even if you did you had to admit that they weren't as cool as Nemo, Hyde or Griffin)

5.Human: A cartoon league isn't going to work in the same world, even if all the fiction is true. It will become something like Roger Rabbit meets Harvey Birdman.

Anyway, those rules of course are just a guide, and i think i could make at least one good league as a subvertion of every single rule.

The All -fictional rule: In the year 1937 United States starts a war with an unnamed eldrich abomination, a team under the command of H.P.Lovecraft , in a Howard Hughes Spaceship piloted by Amelia Earthart is send to destroy it using Tesla's solar weapons. Amelia and H.P. died in the battle, Tesla and Hughes become insane.

The All-British rule. Mid to Late 1990's :Young FBI agent Clarice Starling has to form a group to stop the foreign devil peril of Tony Montana. She reclutes the racist and a little senile retired Cowboy Cop :Harry Callahan; former nazi and current weapon dealer :Doctor E. Von Braun; the Hacker and son of a famous Anti-industrialist terrorist :John Connor a.k.a Neo (in this version The Matrix is a drug induced nightmare that Skynet did on Connor) and Calvin Cameron-Frye a.k.a Tyler Durden , an ex-member of a neonazi cell and currently serving for life for blowing up some buildings in Delaware and releasing Biological warfare in Baltimore. Sadly, this league was just manipulated by Keyser Söze to eliminate a rival mob boss. The second adventure of this team happens in the alien attacks of July 4,2001 when with the "aid" of Dr. Hammond and Ian Malcolm they give to the aliens a virus that transform them in weaker fly-like creatures who were easily defeated and locked in south africa. I bet someone better than me could make a japanese league; a russian league would be fun to read i guess, but will be a little biased.

The Same Epoch Rule. This isn't my idea,i just read it in some forum about the same (making a modern league) but it was one of the most interesting and powerful leagues posibles : By the end of WWII, an ultra secret team was sent to kill hitler. The members were a late 80's Sherlock Holmes, an early 20's James Bond, an american ally Dr. Jones and of course King Arthur and Merlin revived in the time of greatest peril for england.

My original idea isn't even a league, but a title like M , but is something that would make more sense written by Neil Gaiman. The Days: There is a Monsieur Dimanche, in Don Juan but he isnt really that famous; and Domingo Montoya (Iñigo's dad) from The Princess Bride, either one could be sunday, the first day , during the 16th century or maybe before. I have no Saturday. Friday from Robinson Crusoe in the 18th century. Gabriel Syme, The man who was Thursday in the early 1900's. Wednesday Addams in the 1930's (the original strip) to 60's (the tv series). I haven't Tuesday neither. Guy Montag in the near future (or maybe in the 1948 of the league). The problem with this idea is that i still dont have a climax, the days come backwards from Sunday to Monday for like 500 years. But when monday comes, i dont know how to end it.

Well, of course i couldnt make a good league with un-interesting characters, but since sci-fi and fantasy make better setting; and thrillers, spy and detective drama make better character "in general" the subvertion here would be a full sci-fi league i guess ( Moore did it with his 1964 league anyway): The doctor (could be the fouth, since is the most famous) and his companions Arthur Dent,Penelope Creighton-Ward and the time traveller hollogram of Arnold Rimmer fight against the Spider from Mars.

The non-cartoon league, again not an original idea, but the Venture Bros's boy adventurers are great, i also had this idea of make a lot of 80's cartoons Defense project during the most paranoid year of the reagan administration : Highly trained elite forces, Weather control, Giant Robots, Cat People, Bear People, Pony people... Also, Johnny Quest and Scooby Doo could easily fit in any group without look too unrealistic; and the history of europe could be full of disney princess.

THE LEAGUE (2012) Agent J: When a mysterious time-space anomaly appears in Central Park, the Men in Black send J to go check it out. (K is nowhere to be found, we're assuming only the first movie is canon.) He's the team's de facto leader and heavy weapons user, bringing along a supply of MIB weapons.

Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man: He's swinging around New York, doing what he does best, when his Spider Sense warns him of something odd in Central Park. He goes to check it out. He's the agile scrapper of the group, and offers his scientific expertise. Spidey offers sort of a comic relief sensibility to lighten the mood.

Hermione Granger: Hermione is on a trip to New York, where she's meeting with America's Wizarding government on behalf of the Ministry of Magic. She detects something odd, and investigates. Hermione serves as the voice of caution and the voice of reason. She's the first to warn about creating any kind of temporal paradoxes, and is sometimes frustrated by the nonchalant attitudes of J and Spidey.

Mitzi McNinja: The famous doctor's mother is on a mission in NYC when her target flees into Central Park and she follows, only to stumble headfirst onto the anomaly. She's the demolitions expert, ninja swordswoman, spinach puff supplier, and Team Mom, in a messed up, homicidal sort of way.

Neku Sakuraba: After the events of TWEWY, he's working for CAT's company and apprenticed to Hanekoma so that he can someday take on the role of Producer. As such, he's got special priveleges like the ability to use psychs in the RG. While on a business trip in New York on behalf of CAT, he discovers the anomaly. He's the team's telepath and scrapper, using melee techniques and psychokinetic powers in battle. Also, Neku acts as sort of a moral center for the group, tuned in to the needs of others through scanning their minds, and reminding the group that they're fighting for more than their own survival.

L: Turns out, after L died, he ended up in the Reaper's Game, and won. He took a job as a support reaper, but spent all of his spare time trying to deduce the identity of the Composer. Narrowing down his list of suspects to include Neku, he followed him to New York, where they were attacked by monsters that emerged from the anomaly. He hurriedly made a pact with Neku, and the two of them fended off the monsters just in time for the rest of the characters to show up. L is the team's detective, deducing the villains' motives and reading enemies' weaknesses in battle. He fights with foot-based martial arts, amplified by melee psychs and Noise that he picked up in the game.

When the group is all gathered and the monsters are all defeated, who should step out of the gate but... Lucca: The one who opened the anomaly, which turns out to be just a gate, in order to find allies. She's the most knowledgeable of the team about time travel, and fights with a ray gun and fire magic. She tries to remain upbeat as she guides the team, but hides a terrible secret: she is the only survivor of a failed attempt by the Chrono Trigger gang to stop the threat to all time and space.

THE VILLAINS

Lagas: In his dying moments, Giygas sent his essence across time and space to merge with Lavos. This abomination has one goal: to destroy all. He reached across time, to long-dead facsimiles of feudal Japan all the way to galaxies far far away and long in the past, to recruit his army.

Orochimaru: The Starscream. He wants to use arcane ninjutsu to absorb Lagas when the time is right. His powers are as they were before the Third Hokage nerfed him. Using Edo Tensei, he can revive new minions as the need arises. He serves as the field leader when the group fights together.

Cyrus: Cyrus wholeheartedly supports the annihilation of all, and is willing to use his team of powerful Pokemon to make it happen.

Boba Fett: Hired by Cyrus, Fett doesn't ask questions about his employer's goals. He's got a job to do, and he's getting paid to do it. The team's long-range fighter.

Azula: Lagas snags her from her time when her sanity is at its thinnest... and her bending is at its most dangerous.

Lust: Orochimaru brings her back with a mixture of alchemy and Edo Tensei. She's the deadly close-range fighter of the group.

The heroes hop into an experimental MIB De Lorean time machine based on the designs of Dr. Emmett Brown, and head through time and space trying to find something that could defeat Lagas' tremendous power... and hilarity ensues.

The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]

After quite a long time I decided to return to this forum with a new League (disrecard the previous ones) currently I'm trying out several different designs to see which one would fit the modern age and possibly a couple others for the past. So far my efforts have came up with this League similar to design to the first Murray League.

This League would be formed by the US Government, more details later. Including links to the pages.

Why am I doing this? Nobody's going to read it.

Who knows? Who cares? grin It's fun. And maybe someone will read it.

Exceptional Individual Association

Nick Fury: An immortal superspy and the director of SHIELD. Personally headed the Avengers Initiative, an effort to produce a team of "superheros" capable of responding to any world crisis. When Michael Verres, a British biochemist, discredited the scientific theory of superheroism, attributing common superhero anecdotes to "exceptional individuals", Fury renamed the Avenegers Initiative the Exceptional Individual Association, and limited membership to Americans, partly to react to the criticism, but mostly to spite Verres.

Ben Gates: The latest in a long line of treasure hunters. While he is skilled at finding hidden treasure - his discovery of the ten billion dollars worth of treasure hidden under Trinity Church comes to mind - he is even more skilled at stealing things from other treasure hunters. He appears much younger than he actually is, thanks to his recent "acquisition" of the Holy Grail from the (not-)aging Mr. and Mrs. Jones. This was actually not his intent when he killed them - he was actually trying to save the world by determing what had happened to the eggs of IT. Failing that, though, he was happy to take the Grail.

Russel Nagai: The youngest member of the EIA, Russel has just barely reached legal majority, but he has already proven himself to be a highly exceptional individual. Aside from his excellent wilderness survival skills, Russel is the sole inheritor of the late Carl Fredricksen's enormous, heavily armed blimp, billions of dollars in treasure, a giant force of trained attack dogs, and a smaller, but equally formidable force of rare, deadly South American terror birds. He has some emotional problems due to a distant relationship with his parents, which only became worse when his Parental Substitute figure, Mr. Fredricksen, died not long after they met. He does not get along well with Ben Gates, who is always trying to take his things.

Jason Bourne: An artificial identity created by an experimental CIA program. Jason Bourne was once a man named David Webb, but he volunteered for a behavior modification program called Operation Treadstone, which converted him into a different person. Civilians were involved in experiments to perfect the process, with often-disastrous results. While keeping tabs on the British intelligence program via a Kill and Replace mission wherein he impersonated MI 6 agent James Bond, a microchip implant in his brain designed to induce amnesia accidentally went off, convincing him that he actually was James Bond. During an important mission, he was hit with a strain of nostalgia for a home he never actually lived in, leading him to make a tactically retarded decision which ended with the head of British intelligence dead, and David/Jason/James's body floating through the Atlantic Ocean. This set off the amnesia chip yet again, and the lack of contextual clues meant that he honestly had no idea who he was. He slowly pieced information together, kicking ass and taking names in the process, attracting Fury's attention.

John McClane: A NYCPD detective who became the classic Action Survivor when an office building he was visiting (to reconcile with his estranged wife) was involved in a "terrorist plot" (which ultimately proved to be an elaborate robbery scheme). Improbably, he was also involved in the foiling of multiple other (generally) unrelated similarly high-profile criminal plots soon thereafter, thanks to sheer contrived coincidences. Thus, his Action Survivor-ness became his defining characteristic, and in his middle age, he underwent a severe midlife crisis, which he apparently attempted to solve by staging an incident in Russia, so that he could act the hero again. He was caught, and publicly humiliated, but he was brought into the EIA regardless - ostensibly to occupy him, but, in reality, Fury thought that his experience would be a useful addition to the project. Unrelated to the legendary Harry Stamper, The Man Who Stared The Asteroid Down, who he has an uncanny resemblance to.

Lex Murphy: Granddaughter of John Hammond and one of the few survivors of the Isla Nublar incident. She wasn't even a teenager at the time of the incident, but is presently in her early thirties. She still has deep connections in the genetic engineering industry, but is primarily an asset to the EIA thanks to her skills with computers. On the rare occasion that the EIA must venture to Isla Sorna, her experience with dinosaurs also comes in handy, though.

And now for the villain... grin

Jigsaw: Born Kevin McAllister, but now goes by Jigsaw. He initially seemed to be a relatively normal kid, but he first showed signs of what was to come at age eight, when he successfully defended his home from a burglary utilizing a variety of highly original, highly sadistic improvised "traps". He quickly came to adopt a twisted, nihilistic worldview that allowed him to, on mere whims, kidnap people and subject them to horrifying, gruesome tortures that could only rarely be escaped, and then with great, permanently disfiguring difficulty. As a young teen, he subjected his cousins and siblings to this, though no-one ever found out about it. On one occasion, he contrived an elaborate situation wherein his mother received hints of his true nature, and was then forced to save either him or his cousin, who he had used to deliver the hints. She could not believe that he was evil, and dropped his cousin. Kevin eventually came up with the name Jigsaw, which he used as his alias in a series of murders. That series of murders continued and continued and continued, and he slowly picked up a group of like-minded people to assist him, forming a cult of sorts. His ideology meshed well with the ideology of another cult, the Cthulhu Cult, which Jigsaw quickly merged and rose to the top of. Only some of his torture now conforms to his original goal - now his torture is aimed on summoning Cthulhu, who is also known as the Turtle. His most important goal in life is to find and destroy the eggs of the Spider, also known as IT, which are the greatest enemy of the Turtle - likewise, the EIA's primary goal is to find and hatch those eggs - they're not exactly good for the human race either, but it's an Enemy Mine situation, and at least they just want to eat children instead of destroying the Earth. Various egg locations include the house of an elderly Mr. and Mrs. Majors, Isla Sorna, and the Black Mesa Research Facility.

2009- ish American League: Buffy (Mina substitute); Someone from GI Joe, or maybe Indiana Jones, (Allan substitute); Tom Jackman for Hyde and Jekyll (duh); Khan Noonien Singh (Nemo); and for Griffin, I could only think of the psycho invisible girl from Buffy episode "Out of Sight", but recently Freddy Krueger got suggested as an interesting possibility (Posted this one on the WMG page)

Got an idea for a team based on cyberpunk/postcyberpunk works. Got no name idea yet. For now, they're called "The Team". tongue

For work samples of cyber/postcyberpunk, check here and here. That is all.

Do note and I must warn you that some of the origin details for some of the characters may be altered to make this team work.

Origin

- Created by a San Francisco-based Japanese national named Tatsumi Daiba, the computer science prodigy who created the supercomputer SPARC and the search engine MENTOR, which made him the billionaire he is today. He made the decision to make this team over the huge amount of criminality and terrorism he saw in the world after the events of World War III and IV.

Most of the team are based in MENTOR Inc. branches from around the world when they are not needed. Otherwise, they would meet in the San Francisco Headquarters if needed for a major op.

Team members

Motoko Kusanagi

A cyborg and an ex-operative of the elite anti-terrorist/crime unit Public Security Section 9. She is called "Major" by most of the people around her except for close friends. Prior to joining the unit, she was in the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Forces as a soldier and eventually, officer, with the 501st Infantry Regiment with combat experience in mostly United Nations-led peacekeeping missions in the Korean Peninsula and in most of Central/South America.

The Major eventually left Section 9 at the end of the Dejima crisis, she became a mercenary who worked over a few criminal cases on her own before she became involved with the Puppeteer case, which ended in a raid to secure Hitoshi Munei and rescuing abducted children after initially being involved in a case on a supposed terror plot to unleash a Seok Republic-made micromachine virus. Afterwards, Motoko was contacted by Tatsumi, who offered her to be in the team without the restrictions she had when she was in Public Security. The woman agreed after having initial reservations.

She serves the team as the primary hacker, as well as the squad leader while being proficient in firearms, computers, CQC and vehicles (except for aerial vehicles). In addition, Motoko can also control a certain amount of prosthetic bodies for either recon or other needed tasks. Motoko is also familiar with electronics as well, given her time with Section 9.

Motoko is based near MENTOR Inc.'s downtown Niihama branch since she continues to do individual mercenary work in anti-crime activities. By coincidence, her personal safe house (which is a skyscraper) is also located near the unmarked building of Public Security Section 9. Her cover is a bodyguard for Tatsumi, depending on the circumstances.

John Reese

An ex-CIA Special Activities Division and US Army Green Beret operator who had served in both World War III and IV. He's called "Reese" by most of the people who know him. A native of Washington state, Reese had previously been in New York, wandering off as a homeless person before a man named Harold Finch to be a vigilante in protecting certain persons dubbed as "Numbers" by a supercomputer called "The Machine". He worked alongside Finch with a Belgian Manilois named Bear, an ex-forensic accountant named Leon Tao and a fixer named Zoe Morgan.

The team was working well until a raid by a covert special forces unit named the Intelligence Support Activity secured the location of the abandoned library which Finch used as a hideout. While Reese was able to fend off ISA forces, Finch was mortally wounded in the attack before he died of his wounds. Reese took his body and had it buried at an unknown grave at at the man's request. Afterwards, Reese had Finch's computers and other equipment destroyed with assistance from Leon and Zoe before they separated in order to avoid being caught. Eventually, Reese was contacted by Tatsumi and offered him a place to stay while he agreed to help Reese find the people responsible for Finch's death. He brought Bear along with him during his travels.

Reese serves the team as the primary combat expert from unarmed combat to handling small arms from pistols to rocket launchers alongside Motoko. He also serves as a language expert, speaking English, Spanish and Dutch while being able to understand Russian and a bit of Mandarin Chinese and Polish. Reese is also proficient in handling most vehicles.

Currently, Reese and Bear are based near MENTOR Inc.'s San Francisco Headquarters with his own personal safe house like Motoko in the downtown core. For his official cover, he is the main bodyguard of Tatsumi whenever he makes a public appearance. Bear serves as a sniffing dog.

Eames

A known forger in the underworld, Eames joined up with Don Cobb in a mission to secretly manipulate the mind of Robert Michael Fischer Junior in order to prevent most of the world's energy from being monopolized. Although he has no problems doing his forgery job, he is best in doing it in the dream world. His mission was a success and he parted ways with Cobb once he arrived in Los Angeles.

Tatsumi contacted him and asked if he can offer his forging services to the team, which he agreed to since he thought that it would be a challenge in saving people's lives than doing corporate espionage for once. The British man agreed to be billionaire's proposition with a smirk on his face. As of now, he hasn't been contacted for a forging job since he joined up with Tatsumi's team.

Eames works alongside SPARC and MENTOR in creating realistic fake identification/documents/etc. for the team. He uses fake job references to get his colleagues close to the target without being compromised. In Dream world missions, Eames uses his forging skills in acquiring weapons and equipment for the team. Aside from this, he is also a master of disguise.

Eames is currently based in MENTOR Inc.'s Dublin branch with his own safe house somewhere in the downtown core, moving there from London due to his forger background. In addition, he also moved there to have a different environment to work in.

Faridah Malik

Formerly an aircraft pilot for Sarif Industries of Arab American heritage, she had previously worked together with Adam Jensen in the conspiracy to learn why Sarif Industries was attacked in a raid by heavily armed mercenaries. She decided to leave the company on good terms considering the events that Faridah went through, including nearly being executed by Belltower forces.

Tatsumi hired her after she left Sarif Industriesaircrew company's aircraft pilot. But when he brought the question of being the team's personal aircraft pilot, Faridah hesitated before he assured her that she won't go through the events in Human Revolution. She decided to agree with him, knowing that she might go through with the events again. When pressed on why Faridah agreed, she told Tatsumi that she needed to move on and not be stuck in the past.

Faridah serves as a transport pilot in VTOL/other aircraft in the team's various covert operations. She is also a good shot with small arms, although Faridah would admit that she prefers not to be involved and instead, wait on the sideline until the team could complete their mission.

Faridah is currently based at MENTOR Inc.'s San Francisco Headquarters after moving from Detroit from Sarif Industries, serving as Tatsumi's personal aircraft pilot since he's also based there. She is also based there alongside Reese.

Henry Dorsett Case

A low-level hacker living in post-World War IV Chiba, Japan of Canadian origin*

, he is known to people as "Case". Case was injected with Russian-made mycotoxin after being caught for stealing from his employers. He eventually accepted a job from a man named Armitage, which resulted in the removal of the mycotoxin from his body.

After the events of Neuromancer, Tatsumi contacts him to help him get a cyborg body. This offer made Case accept it without any reservation. He needed a better body that the hacker thought a cyborg-type would perhaps render any future poisoning attempts impossible. Case got the new cyborg body before he moved to San Francisco. Motoko oversaw Case's new body transfer.

Case serves the team as a secondary hacker aside from Motoko. Thanks to his new cyborg body, he's also adept in unarmed combat since his fists are stronger than an average person's and handles a gun, although Case prefers to do hacking instead.

Case is based at MENTOR Inc.'s San Francisco Headquarters, deciding to have a fresh start as a security specialist for his new job in anti-hacking activities. This provides him a good cover for him to conduct hacking activities for the team.

Armory

Jim Tate was a brilliant weapons designer with degrees in electronics and engineering and ex-special forces operative who served in the later years of World War IV, he was hired by Wayne-Powers until he was fired to downsize the Light Weapons Division. Because of this (alongside the fact that he wanted to provide for his family with the best life they can have) alongside running out of alternate options to get a job, Tate became the criminal known as "Armory" and stole the prototype he worked on. However, his family later found out about his criminal activities and was forced to confess. But while he was a rogue of the new Batman (aka Terry McGinnis), Jim was able to save his life by taking on Istivan Hegedesh, a weapons designer from ForceTech, after being handed with the sonic wave weapon.

After serving a light sentence, Jim noted that he received a divorce from his wife due to his actions as "Armory". When Tatsumi found out about his actions, he offered him a job as a non-lethal weapons designers in one of his weapon firms. Jim gladly accepted it, hoping to use his knowledge as a means of atoning for his actions, as well as to provide support for his teenaged stepson until he graduates from high school. After being asked if he would join the team to help protect the innocent from wrongdoings, Jim did not hesitate since he thought about how his stepson was angry at him for conducting criminal activities and as such, wanted to show him that he's a changed person.

Armory serves as the team's heavy weapons/explosive expert, as well as the non-lethal weapon specialist. He also maintains an array of vehicles to transport the team, including his van, that can change colors and license plates.

Due to the divorce, Jim made the decision to move to San Francisco and be based near MENTOR Inc.'s Headquarters after moving from being a non-lethal weapons designer to a security consultant. He also has his own safe house in the downtown core.

Rico

Rico served as a cyborg girl of the Italian government in a covert operations team under the Social Welfare Agency, which is a legitimate agency in rehabilitation of persons after they are injured. Like all cyborg girls, Rico was assigned to Special Ops. She was known to have been involved in anti-terror ops, especially when she was involved in taking out Padanian terrorist/mercenary Giacomo Dante. After the disbanding of all SWA anti-terror/intelligence division that Rico was allowed to live out her own life, even though she would die within a few years or so. Rico agreed to this decision, heading to North America to make her dream come true as a violinist.

Tatsumi established contact with the woman, giving her assistance to settle in America. Thanks to information acquired by SPARC, he came to learn about Rico's past as a SWA assassin. Even though she was confronted with this without any problem, Rico didn't want to be in a vigilante team, given that she wanted to be a violinist and her handler was nearly killed at her own hands. Tatsumi assured her that the Italian would not need to be involved a lot. Especially with her given condition. Rico agreed to join the team, but only on her own terms in a vigilante team to help protect innocent civilians. What these terms are remain unknown.

Rico serves the team as the sniper, armed with a Dragunov SVD as her main weapon although she can handle any type of sniper rifle. She also doesn't have a problem in her bare fists in interrogating criminals and terrorists.

Rico is based near MENTOR Inc.'s San Francisco Headquarters with her own apartment since she is trying to make it big as a violinist. On occasions, she is invited by Tatsumi to conduct violin performances for guests or for VIPs, depending on circumstances.

Kazuya

An American-based college student, Kazuya*

was just doing his work as a student studying political science when he was contacted that demons were already at the real world and that it was possible to make contact with them. Kazuya was given a Demon Summoning Program in his university e-mail by a programmer named STEVEN in order to combat their presence. Kazuya was good with the DSP that he was known in the underworld to be a remarkable demon summoner. Rumors began to persist that he was the descendant of a demon summoner back in Japan during the early 20th century, but there was no way to confirm it. During his vigilante days in combating the demons, Tatsumi contacted him and offered assistance in helping him fight the demons before he was introduced to the team.

Kazuya serves the team as a recon specialist, using his demons to conduct reconnaissance for him prior to a fight or to gain information. Aside from this, he also uses his demons in normal fights too. He is normally armed with dual pistols and a wakizashi, but Kazuya lets the demons do the fighting.

Kazuya is based near MENTOR Inc.'s San Francisco Headquarters in a dorm room located at the University of San Francisco. Due to his college student status, Kazuya is only usually called in by Tatsumi if a mission needs him as a slight boost of manpower or if the situation is critical that his absence in a mission is not acceptable.

(In the next post or so, I'll post for Base of Operations, Allies and Rogue's Gallery when I get the time)

When the parody League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1988 came out as an April Fool's Day feature from Comics Alliance* - featuring disgraced scientist Emmett Brown , transportation specialist Jack Burton, ex-commando B.A. Baracus, tech wizard Angus MacGyver, and the mysteriously powerful Lisa - I put together my own pitch for a League of Awesome Dudes adventure:

From his prison cell, Gordon Gekko** orchestrates his most audacious financial scheme yet: Hiring the former CIA operative-turned-cat burglar known only as Otto to kidnap the mathematical savant Raymond Babbitt and force him to aid Jonathan "The Duke" Mardukas's embezzlement from the Las Vegas mob to provide him with working capital, he secretly manipulates the merger/acquisition of Trask Industries and Metro Radio Network with the unknowing assistance of an ordinary secretary.

It's up to the League of Awesome Dudes to investigate this plot and uncover Gekko's grand plan to create a rightwing-populist news media empire, which he's kicking off with a carefully orchestrated scoop by a Dallas shock jock to disclose the existence of a mysterious alien creature while actually serving as product placement for various corporations.

The big reveal would be that Gekko is also an extraterrestrial, the mastermind of a secret Alien Invasion (Type II). This conspiracy has begun to infiltrate the highest levels of government and industry and is planning to brainwash the ordinary population through Subliminal Advertising transmitted via Gekko's media network. The Deus ex Machina would be a pair of Ray-Bans that reveal the aliens' true form, provided by a burly nameless drifter.

* Blogger Mighty God King came up with a 1993 version that's pretty cool, too.

** Yes, Wall Street came out in December of 1987, but since it was still in the theaters in 1988, I'm counting it among all the other films of that year that I used in this hodgepodge pitch. I concede, though, that the pitch must occur after the film, so he has to appear in prison.

[up] Jack Burton is a member of the League, while Otto is on Gekko's side, so they ought to cancel each other out. In fact, that sounds like the excuse to have them engage in a punch-up fight to the finish - that would be pretty entertaining even if it probably wouldn't advance the plot an inch.
