The needle of fate.

Masamune's friend, who resents him for leaving him and Toby behind while Toby's condition was worsening. In Metal Masters, he wields Flame Byxis, an extraordinarily tall Balance type with magnetic manipulation powers. In Metal Fury, he switches it out for Spiral Fox, an Attack bey with unique defensive abilities.

  • Achilles' Heel: Due to the shape of the magnetic waves emitted by his bey, his magnetic control and defense cannot affect targets directly above him due to the waves being at their weakest there.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Oh very much so. In the manga, he willingly worked for the side of evil just because he thinks it'll be fun to dominate his opponents. In the anime, he's actually a good guy at heart and was just misguided by Dr. Ziggurat's manipulation, only working for him out of desperation to save his friend Toby.
  • Animal Motifs: Foxes. Besides wielding Spiral Fox, which is based on the Vulpecula ("little fox") constellation, his brown hair with white tips resembles a fox's fur.
  • Attack Deflector: His Spiral Fox can use the three rollers on its spin track to deflect all manner of attacks.
  • For the Evulz: His only reason for joining Team Starbreaker in the manga.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Was very weak before joining Star Breaker.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Disbanded from Star Breaker after Spiral Tower was taken down and became friends with Masamune again.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: His eyes are blue and he is the Token Good Teammate amongst his team.
  • Limit Break: When his arrangement reached 100% capacity, he unleashed Magnetic Needle Storm, a massive surge of magnetic energy which was so destructive that it instantly defeated Striker, essentially blew up the whole arena, broke Masamune's arm, and knocked Zeo out cold.
  • Magnetism Manipulation: His Byxis can manipulate magnetic fields to control enemy Beys, the most common application being to force them out of the stadium using his Destiny Needle attack. Also see Limit Break above.
  • No-Sell: Byxis' incredible height and armored Spin Track makes most direct attacks ineffective against it.
  • Sigil Spam: Any activation of Byxis' abilities is accompanied with the stadium being enveloped in a glowing rune resembling a compass.
  • Token Good Teammate: When compared to the Obviously Evil Ziggurat, Ax-Crazy Damian, Mad Artist Jack and emotionless Faust.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Not as impressive as most characters but a good amount of badass in Fury.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Due to a combination of how Toby's illness is affecting him, him believing Masamune abandoned them for a different team when they needed him the most, and the Arrangement system screwing with his mental state, Zeo becomes much more hostile toward Masamune believing everything was his fault. Not helping that Zeo is also taking his anger out on Gingka as well blaming him for taking Masamune away. Fortunately, he drops this after the incident with Spiral Tower.

Jack

Propelling a fantastic new age of art through beyblade.

A blader who is obsessed with turning his bey battles into works of art. Uses Evil Befall, a Stamina bey blessed with almost endless endurance and serrated cutters that allow for both lethal blows and the manipulation of air.

  • Defeating the Undefeatable: Jack defeated KLAUS AT FULL POWER.
  • Camp Gay: Complains that Gingka, Masamune, and Yu weren't "beautiful enough" and stated that Tsubasa would be a fine work of art.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He talks about making beautiful works of art, and gives his opponents one hell of a fight.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Gives one to Klaus of all people! However, Jack finds himself at the receiving end of one curiosity of Ryuga and later Jigsaw.
  • Dramatic Irony: He defeated Klaus, who beat Chi-Yun, who narrowly defeated Tsubasa. Tsubasa was the one to take him down at the end of Masters.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: It's pretty easy to mistake him for a girl especially how the way he acts.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Loves art so much he has to scream about his masterpieces at the top of his lungs.
  • Facial Markings
  • Feather Flechettes: His Befall the Ripper move, which fires countless vacuum cutters to rip into foes. As a non-physical attack, it can bypass conventional defensive measures like Meteo L-Drago's energy absorption.
  • Glass Cannon: Befall is fairly fast and hits hard with chainsaw-like assaults, but it's also pretty easy to send flying.
    • Nigh-Invulnerable: ...which would be a much more severe problem if his Beyblade of choice didn't have nigh-infinite stamina. While it can be knocked around just fine, actually slowing it down takes a lot more effort.
  • Heel–Face Turn: In Fury his Arrangement has ended and he is just a normal blader participating in the Sphere 360 tournament with no ill intention against the cast.
  • Mad Artist: He considers his battles a work of art and uses his bey to make carvings into the stadium.
  • Mask Power: He wears a mask that covers one of his eyes. When he returns in Fury, he has ditched the mask after his Arrangement has ended.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is "Jack" and his bey's special move is "Befall: The Ripper." It's pretty obvious what his name references.
  • Razor Wind: His Befall can use its Upper Wings to fire vacuum blasts to slice through targets.
  • Redemption Demotion: Due to most of his power coming from the Arrangement, when he returns in Fury he gets demolished by Jigsaw in the first few minutes of his fight. While under the Arrangement, he can stand toe-to-toe with the likes of Klaus and Tsubasa and is powerful enough to literally shred his opponents.
  • Weak, but Skilled: When he returns in Fury, he only makes use of his weakest special move, but unlike in Masters where he uses it several times to carve art into the stadium, he uses it more as a distraction in order to attack his opponent directly with Evil Befall, which gives him the first KO in the Sphere 360 B Block.
  • The Worf Effect: Effortlessly beat Klaus. Then lost to Ryuga, then Tsubasa, and in Fury, he was the second one out in the Sphere 360 B Block being quickly eliminated by Jigsaw to showcase his strength. The last example was actually lampshaded with the cast being surprised that Jigsaw was able to defeat Jack so easily especially since Jack was the one who got the first KO in B Block.

Damian Hart

Voiced By: Romi Park (Japanese), Carter Hayden (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/damian6png.png
Anakin isn't the only Chosen One.

"The fact is that in the face of science, the bey spirit is powerless."

A blader known as The Chosen One who believes that the Arrangement is the only way to become stronger and that getting his hands dirty won't improve skill at all. Uses Hades Kerbecs, a seemingly unstoppable Stamina beyblade with a myriad of offensive and defensive abilities.

  • The Ace: Damian is Team Starbreaker's strongest blader.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: He's not a nice guy in either versions but the manga version at least had Damian pull a Heel–Face Turn and befriend Gingka. The anime version of him is more evil and ruthless and unlike in the manga, he never redeems himself.
  • Ax-Crazy: He seems to enjoy making people suffer a bit too much.
  • The Brute: A guy who loves nothing more than breaking the spirits and beys of people.
  • Berserk Button: He was starting to lose it in his fight with Kyoya when he was dragged into the wild and when Kerbecs started losing balance.
  • Climax Boss: Damian serves as the final opponent that Gingka faces in the tournament and it was after beating him that Gingka and his team are declared #1 in the world. However, the story doesn't end there as Dr. Ziggurat puts his final plans into motion and Faust serves as the True Final Boss.
  • Curbstomp Battle: Delivers one to the entire team of Team Excalibur that causes Julian to mentally break down. Damian also delivers a very brutal one off-screen to Tsubasa and Yu which ended up with both of them in the hospital and their beys almost being completely broken.
  • Demoted to Brute: Courtesy of Faust/Toby.
  • Defeating the Undefeatable: He defeated Julian, Wales, and Sophie at the same time. The same people that gave Gan Gan Galaxy trouble and defeated Wang Hu Zhong. The trio that were said to be unbeatable.
  • Dragged Off to Hell: His finishing move, Hades Gate, essentially drags opponents into the Beyblade equivalent of Hell, where he proceeds to torment and/or have Kerbecs devour them.
  • Evil Laugh: Gives one out after totally destroying Team Excalibur and forcing Julian to admit he's weak, showing just how psychotically evil he truly was.
  • Hellhound: Hades Kerbecs, being based on Cerberus.
  • Hellfire: Uses it to attack. Of particular note is the move Hades Drive.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Damian is one of the most evil and ruthless bladers in the series with zero comedic moments compared to fellow teammate Jack.
  • Lack of Empathy: Definitely. When Gingka asked what does Beyblade means to him, Damian pretty much tells him nothing and is clearly only blading to torment others.
Damian Hart: My sole purpose is to complete my job by winning.
  • Light Is Not Good: White and golden clothes, golden Beyblade and fire powers. Yep.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Kerbecs. It moves insanely fast, can take a ton of punishment due to it's high defense and stamina typing, and can most definitely deliver crushing blows with it's bladed Fusion Wheel.
  • Meaningful Name: The dude's name is "Damian", has a bey named Kerbecs which references the guard of the gates of the underworld, Cerberus, and uses tons of hellfire in his attacks. Not to mention is beyond Ax-Crazy and loves to see his opponents suffer. You can't get any more Satanic Archetype than this guy. He's basically the beyblade antichrist.
  • No-Sell: Damian is one of very few people to take the Arrangement Program without any physical and mental damage at all.
  • Only the Chosen May Wield: Kerbecs is a bey created to match Damian completely, and only he is able to use it. Interestingly enough, Damian's nickname is The Chosen One.
  • Playing with Fire: In addition to having several relations to fire, Hades Drive, his special move, has Kerbecs circle the arena at blinding speeds, using the friction to ignite the place and incinerate his opponent.
  • Psychotic Smirk: His default expression along with the common Slasher Smiles.
  • Slasher Smile: Damian pulls one every time he uses Hades Gate.
  • Stupid Evil: He attacked and hospitalized two members on an opposing team which would have gotten Star Breaker disqualified had it not been for Gingka's Honor Before Reason mentality, despite knowing their participation was vital for completing Ziggurat's research.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Dealt an especially cruel one to Julian Konzern, claiming that after Black Excalibur had been blocked there was nothing else he could do before essentially calling him a sad excuse for an 'Emperor' and referring to him as ordinary. Damian then proceeded to start rubbing Julian's pride, confidence, ideals and sanity into the ground without even using anywhere near his full power. One Wales/Sophie intervention, and one Hades Gate later, the end result was a completely disgraced Excalibur, a mentally shattered Julian and one of the saddest, and scariest, moments in Beyblade history. He also tried to give one to Kyoya, but thanks to his overly fierce spirit it didn't work, despite how badly Kyoya had been dominated up to that point.
  • The Sociopath: Let's see, Lack of Empathy for others and loves inflicting physical and psychological pain toward others. Damian qualifies as a sociopath.
  • Villainous Breakdown: After his fights with Gingka and Kyoya. The one after his defeat by Kyoya also saw the end of Kerbecs as well as Leone's final strike cracked Kerbecs' Fusion Wheel, ensuring its defeat once and for all, despite the fact that Leone had been badly cracked itself. The defeat left Damian totally traumatized and led to total Sanity Slippage for him before collapsing in a dead Fainting spell. Kyoya added one final "The Reason You Suck" Speech to him after he collapsed:
Kyoya: As long as you're on the end of a leash, you won't get it!
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Absent from Fury unlike his other teammates, who made appearances after their Arrangements has ended and returned to normal.

Faust/Toby

Voiced By: Kōki Miyata (Japanese), Benjamin Israel (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/toby_faust.jpg
The end result... the Clockwork Miracle.

"My name is Faust, and I alone am able to control time and space with my bey Tempo. I am the strongest blader in all of history!"

Masamune's other friend who was brainwashed into becoming the most powerful member of Star Breaker in exchange for getting his illness cured. Initially used Twisted Tempo (which was designed to power the Spiral Force), a Defense-type bey whose insane weight grants it invincible durability and the uncanny ability to bend space and time. Once he recovers, he swapped it out for Spiral Lyre, an Attack type capable of sudden and unpredictable movement.

  • Adaptational Villainy: A combination of this and Decomposite Character, in the manga he's the Big Bad and devoid of any redeeming qualities, and his real identity as Toby is never mentioned.
  • Astral Projection: Faust can do this when Spiral Dimension is active. His spirit usually appears behind a galaxy centred on a vaguely defined nigh-black region that resembles the outer gateway into the universe that Tempo has created, or behind one of his black holes which are far larger than the current known laws of physics should allow. As for the size of the astral projection, Faust is much larger than the galaxy and could fit the black holes in his hands.
  • Badass Long Coat
  • Brainwashed and Crazy
  • Confusion Fu: His second bey, Spiral Lyre, is capable of erratic movements due to its Fusion Wheel having a shifted center of gravity.
  • Deflector Shields: Tempo seemingly has one at the beginning of Faust's battle with Gingka and Masamune, only for it to be broken by their combined attacks. Needless to say, Tempo didn't really need it.
  • Determinator: Will stop at nothing to ensure Twisted Tempo never stops spinning. He will purposely avoid battle unless absolutely necessary, and will continue his task even if he knows it could destroy the whole planet.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Tempo was the result of data collected over the entire Beyblade World Championships, in an experiment to create the strongest Bey ever, with power equal to that of Galaxy Pegasus and Meteo L-Drago combined, to power the Spiral Force. Of course, this becomes a major problem when it's said Spiral Force threatens the world and the time comes to stop Tempo, which is now essentially a super-powered Beyblade-shaped nuclear reactor, and Faust, who is bent on making Tempo spin even when it would doom everyone because he thinks he's saving humanity from an energy/environmental crisis.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After Toby was freed from his brainwashing thanks to Zeo and Masamune he returned to his old self, and in Fury, he got a new bey, and his winning streak is far greater than what it was as Faust, even if he is weaker. In Fury, he and Zeo nearly curbstomped Tsubasa and in the Sphere 360, the three of them managed to take down the Garcias.
  • Knight Templar: Faust wholeheartedly believes that it's his duty to save humanity by having Tempo generate limitless green energy. Taken to almost delusional levels when he continues to try and do just that when the very act is the would-be cause of humanity's extinction, after the damage Ryuga/L-Drago cause to the Spiral Core begins a meltdown of Spiral Force. When Zeo tells Faust within Tempo's universe that Ziggurat is using him as a pawn for entirely un-heroic purposes, Faust simply accuses Zeo of lying to him.
Faust: Go spin. Come on, spin. Continue to spin forever, and continue to produce new energy for the future!
  • Meaningful Name
  • Nice Guy: He's shown to be a pretty nice and friendly guy, before he was brainwashed. Thankfully, it gets better.
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: Tempo, full stop! It boasts impossibly high defenses to ensure nothing can even scratch it. It's heavy weight also makes it impossible to smack around like most other Beys. Even the combined attacks of Masamune and Gingka weren't enough to make it budge, and to make it worse, the force of the attack is generally deflected back at them. That's not even getting into Tempo's control of space-time. In order to defeat it, Gingka and Masamune had to attack it at full power while it was weakened by Ryuga's surprise intervention, which it wasn't prepared for.
  • Only Sane Man: Without him in Team Dungeon, Masamune and Zeo would continue to bicker and fight.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: The Beyblade Twisted Tempo. The endless energy it produces is said to be able to melt the entire planet should it go out of control, which it inevitably does and requires Ryuga and Gingka to combine their powers to overcome it, as noted by Madoka.
  • Reality Warper: Twisted Tempo as a beyblade is the ultimate expression of science and was designed based on the Theory of Relativity posed by Albert Einstein. As such, its immense gravity gives it the terrifying and seemingly impossible ability to completely bend space and time to its will. This is used in Faust's special move, Spiral Dimension, which creates an infinitely sized universe to drag its opponents into. Once inside, Tempo can perform a multitude of space-time related actions including travelling in time through Faust's memories and creating a black hole that rules over time and space. Those dragged into the black hole become suspended in an infinite timeless void for all of eternity. Hell can't save you here!
    • A black hole is a region that bends the 3 spatial dimensions and 1 temporal dimension to unfathomable levels. Since Tempo is based on the Theory of Relativity, it's almost certain that the inside of Tempo's black hole is based on a singularity, a 0-dimensional point of potentially infinite density within a black hole where the laws of reality, and with them the fabric of space-time, break down completely.
  • Shock and Awe: Due to Tempo's design as a power source, whenever it's involved in battle or exerting its power expect electricity to arc everywhere.
  • Shout-Out: Faust's design was possibly inspired by the design of Sephiroth.
  • The Dragon
  • Time Master
  • Unrealistic Black Hole: Tempo can create them, and they are far more unsettling than realistic black holes... space-time doesn't exist inside of them.
  • World's Strongest Man: Faust, and to an extent Tempo was created to be so, using data gathered from every Bey in the World Championships to create an ultimate Bey capable of powering the Spiral Force. This, however, does not translate into his battles: while Tempo is undoubtedly overpowered, he has failed to win any fight he participated in. However it should be noted that both of Tempo's battles came in very special circumstances.

Dr. Ziggurat

Voiced By: Mitsuru Miyamoto (Japanese), Richard Waugh (English)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/drziggurat.jpg
A scientist possessing more genius than Albert Einstein, so he claims.

The manager of Star Breaker and CEO/Chairman of Hades Incorporated. His goal is to create the perfect blader, Faust, and the ultimate beyblade, Twisted Tempo, to power an endless energy system and then sell the miracle technology to the highest bidder, in order to make a profit for using beyblades as a weapon to seize power by force, and to gain fame and fortune as the greatest scientist in history.

  • Big Bad: Of Metal Masters.
  • Evil Genius
  • Meaningful Name: A ziggurat is an Aztec altar.
  • The Man Behind the Man: He was this to Doji, but Ziggurat was on the receiving end from Pluto
  • The Unfought: Was never seen in action, despite having one of the strongest beys in the show, aside from a Curb-Stomp Battle courtesy of Zeo.
  • Scary Shiny Glasses
  • Smug Snake: Is absolutely unflappable in his charisma and spends most of his screen time gloating until the Spiral Force threatens to vaporize the planet and Faust refuses to stop Tempo due to Ziggurat's own brainwashing of him. Cue Villainous Breakdown, blaming of Gingka and co., nigh-incoherent mumbling in denial, and an extremely satisfying Curb-Stomp Battle at the hands of Zeo, after which he was left for dead.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Due to Doji, who did not die and was a member of Star Breaker in the manga, being presumed dead in the anime, he was created as a replacement for his role.
  • Villains Never Lie: He promised Zeo that if he won the match between him and Masamune, then he would restore Toby's health. Unlike most anime villains, Ziggurat didn't lie. He may have healed Toby, but unknown to Zeo, Ziggurat also turned Toby into his obedient Dragon and Mind Slave, Faust.

Alternative Title(s): Metal Fight Beyblade Team Star Breaker
