Sisi Superstar (11th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ssuperstar.png

Age: 31
From: Montréal, Québec

"Don't eat your hearts out ladies... that's my job."

  • Alliterative Name: SiSi Superstar.
  • Character Catchphrase: She at least tries to create one, as evident by her constantly exclaiming "Daddle doo!" during her stint in the "QV-She" commercial challenge. However, it comes off as more annoying than catchy, and she winds up going home the same episode.
  • Hot as Hell: Her Shimmering Showgirls look is a sexy black and red number with big devil horns.
  • Jack of All Trades: According to Sisi, out of drag, she’s also a DJ, songwriter, professional event planner, and community organizer.
  • Perky Goth: She's the token creepy/goth queen of the bunch, calling herself "the queen of the sewers" thanks to her reputation in Montréal's underground scene, and although we don't see much of her she seems fairly upbeat and approachable.
  • Wardrobe Malfunction: As soon as a piece falls off her entrance look mid-entrance, it’s all downhill for Sisi from there.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: As is the case with most first-out queens, we don't get to learn much about her before she goes home.

The Girlfriend Experience (10th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tgexperience.png

Age: 31
From: Vancouver, British Columbia

"Fuck the fantasy. I'm the Experience."

  • Dark and Troubled Past: Not only was she the target of hate comments and death threats on social media after an American politician slammed a video of her performing, but she was also physically attacked and even almost raped not long after receiving gender-affirming surgery.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Poor Girlfriend. Episode 3 borders on Trauma Conga Line for her. She flops the improv mini-challenge, she puts in vocals for the girl group challenge even though she acknowledges up front that her voice gives her dysphoria, and she struggles with the choreo in the live performance and the judges go in on her for it. By the time she's in Werk Room deliberations, she's has lost whatever confidence she had in herself, leading to a messy, uncomfortable lip-sync and early elimination.
  • Dressed Like a Dominatrix: Her "Sunglasses At Night" runway has this in spades, with black latex, red feathers, a strappy corset, and a bedazzled riding crop.
  • Proud Beauty: Frequently touts herself as being "the pretty one" of the cast, joking that her strategy is to flirt with the judges and use her looks to win it all. Case in point, her promo photo has her proudly looking over her shoulder to show off her butt.
  • Stripperific: Has no qualms about showing skin, as her outfits proudly show off a good deal of her body. Lampshaded in the premier when she jokes that her stuff won't take up much room in the accolade she shares with Nearah and Venus.
  • Tears of Joy: Starts crying upon being saved by Kitten's Golden Beaver in episode 2, thanking her for her kindness.
  • Trans Tribulations: In the first episode, she states her belief that the attack and attempted bans on drag (particularly in the US) are largely an attack on trans women, and talks about the things she's had to deal with as a trans woman herself.

Luna DuBois (9th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ldubois.png

Age: 24
From: Toronto, Ontario

"Well this doesn't look like Fashion Week."

  • Bad Impressionists: She goes with Salt Lake City housewife Mary M. Cosby for the Snatch Game, but her impression is deemed flat and incongruous with her sense of humour and she winds up going home.
  • Breaking Old Trends: She's the first queen eliminated during Snatch Game to not be from Montréal.
  • Embarrassing Animal Suit: Her "Gemstones" runway is her in a tiger outfit. Not tiger-inspired or tiger print, a straight-up bedazzled tiger catsuit. It doesn't really give off the topaz look she's going for, and combined with her poor performance in the commercial challenge puts her in the bottom that week.
  • The Fashionista: Brands herself as this from the moment she walks in, and some of her first confessionals after meeting the other queens have her judging what the others are wearing. Unlike the other fashion-savvy queens, however, she only places safe for the design challenge.
  • Lunacy: Her drag persona is based around the moon, as her name might imply.

Aimee Yonce Shennel (7th=)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ayshennel.png

Age: 31
From: Ottawa, Ontario

"The amiga is in the house, bitches!"

  • Bilingual Bonus: She's originally from the Dominican Republic, and tends to pepper Spanish into her sentences. Her verse in "Heartbreak" is about a 50/50 split between English and Spanish lyrics.
  • Covert Pervert: She's not outwardly perverted, but she does pretend to have an Immodest Orgasm during the photoshoot mini challenge and often calls judge Brad Goreski "daddy".
  • Improbable Hairstyle: Her "Me Myself and I" runway has her don a braided updo in the shape of an African drum to honor her Afro-Latina heritage.
  • Jerkass to One: She's fairly amicable with everyone, but gets into a big verbal scrap with Nearah after the design challenge in Untucked. At one point, she gets so fed up that she tells Kiki (who has the Golden Beaver) to save Melinda so that she and Nearah can lip-sync it out to settle the argument. The lip-sync is a double shantay, which catches them both off guard, but does prompt them to make amends after.
"I don't hate anyone, there is no place for hate. But Nearah... is a fucking bitch."
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Having had enough of arguing with Nearah in Untucked after the design challenge, she flat out tells Kiki to save Melinda so that she and Nearah can "put on a show" in the subsequent lip-sync.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: The "Yonce" part of her name comes from Beyoncé.
  • Recursive Crossdressing: She portrays Jesus for the Snatch Game, which Melinda takes full advantage of for her religion fanatic version of Manny Pacquiao by comparing her to Mike Tyson, making Aimee crack up and break character.
Melinda-as-Manny: Please save me from this Jesus, this is not my saviour. This looks like Mike Tyson on drugs. Please.
Aimee-as-Jesus, laughing: You're going to hell!
  • Spicy Latina: Proudly touts her Dominican heritage, saying she's going to bring the heat, the spice, and the "Latin Party" to the competition during her "Meet the Queens" interview.

Kitten Kaboodle (7th= + Miss Congeniality)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kkaboodle.png

Age: 57
From: Toronto, Ontario

"I may be old, but this kitty has a few lives left in her. Meow!"

  • Alliterative Name: Kitten Kaboodle.
  • Camp: A self-described campy 70s showgirl with an appropriately glamorous, old-school style.
  • Cool Old Lady: She's the oldest queen in herstory at 57 years old, and the other queens admire her for her experience and her dedication to sharing Canadian queer history.
  • Crazy Cat Lady: Leans into this as part of her drag persona, being an older queen with a cat gimmick.
  • Dresses the Same: When she found out that both she and Nearah were planning to do Jennifer Coolidge for the Snatch Game, neither one was willing to put their foot down or change their character, so they both decide to portray her while sitting right next to each other.
  • Experienced Protagonist: At 57 years old, she dethrones Charlie Hides as the oldest queen in herstory at the time of her competing, and she also mentions that she started doing drag in 1981. To put that into perspective, only one of her fellow queens (Melinda) would have been alive back then — none of the others would have even been born yet!
  • Nice Girl: This season’s Miss Congeniality, which was announced on the show’s social media pages after the season aired.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: As the first recipient of the Golden Beaver, she uses it to save The Girlfriend Experience from lip-syncing. Come the next week, however, and she finds herself in the bottom with Girlfriend, ultimately being forced to send her home.
  • Pink Is Feminine: She's a old-school campy showgirl queen, and the vast majority of her outfits are pink to some degree.
  • Punny Name: "Kit and caboodle", a phrase originating from the 1870's that means "the whole package".
  • Textile Work Is Feminine: Proudly states that she's made all her outfits this season, and places high for the design challenge in a pink-and-gold ensemble partially made from a puffer jacket.

Kiki Coe (6th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kcoe.png

Age: 35
From: Ottawa, Ontario

"Why are you screaming?"

  • Alliterative Name: Kiki Coe.
  • Birds of a Feather: She becomes close with Melinda Verga during the season, and the two have a number of things in common. They're both Filipino, they both have non-English genitalia-based Punny Names, and they both won one challenge each. Not only did their challenge wins (and their subsequent usage of the Golden Beaver to save each other) occur in consecutive episodes, but so did their eliminations.
  • Cool Old Lady: The premise of her "Always a Bridesmaid" runway is a grandma who has never been married, but doesn't mind it because she has so much fun being a bridesmaid and partying.
  • The Fashionista: She's a talented seamstress and designer with an eye for details, and all of her looks are elaborate and well-constructed.
  • One Degree of Separation: She was a contestant on the first season of Call Me Mother, where she was adopted into Season 9 runner-up Peppermint's drag house.
  • Pet the Dog: After a massive Untucked arguement where Melinda blows up and threatens to quit, Kiki still uses the Golden Beaver to save her, saying she doesn't deserve to be a punching bag. Melinda repays the action the next week and thanks Kiki for her kindness.
  • Punny Name: Her name is a pun on the Tagalog phrase "kiki ko", which roughly means "my vagina".
  • Textile Work Is Feminine: She is an expert seamstress who has made several looks for past queens, most notably Icesis Couture's elaborate "Stepping Down" look from the Season 3 finale. She wins the design challenge in a stunning burgundy evening gown that actually makes Brooke Lynn emotional when she sees it.

Melinda Verga (5th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mverga.png

Age: 44
From: Edmonton, Alberta

"Hello mga tsismosa!"note

  • Because You Were Nice to Me: After Kiki uses the Golden Beaver to save her during the design challenge, Melinda returns the favor the next week after her own challenge win, saying that Kiki not just saved her from elimination, but also from herself.
  • Birds of a Feather: She becomes close with Kiki Coe during the season, and the two have a number of things in common. They're both Filipino, they both have non-English genitalia-based Punny Names, and they both won one challenge each. Not only did their challenge wins (and their subsequent usage of the Golden Beaver to save each other) occur in consecutive episodes, but so did their eliminations.
  • Call-Back: She ends up in the bottom for her design challenge look, a plaid outfit that she claims is "Vivienne Westwood-inspired". When Brooke Lynn wears a plaid outfit on the panel the very next week, Melinda makes sure to comment on it.
  • Curse Is Foiled Again. She's the first queen of Asian descent to win the Canadian Snatch Game, defying the trend of Asian queens bombing the Snatch Game, despite fellow Asian Aurora faring poorly.
  • Hypocrite: She spends one week referring to the judges as "experts" and saying she's not sure what she's there for if not to listen to their feedback, and then the very next week cussing out those same judges behind their backs in the Werk Room after their negative reception of her look in the design challenge.
  • Impossibly Tacky Clothes: Her entrance look is a rainbow catsuit that elicits a snide comment from more than one of the other queens.
  • Punny Name: Her name is a pun on "mi linda verga", a Spanish phrase which means "my pretty dick".
  • Recursive Crossdressing: For the Snatch Game, she portrays Filipino boxer, politician, and known homophobe Manny Pacquiao. She portrays him as a loony religion freak who's heavily devoted to Jesus, made funnier by the fact that Aimee is portraying Jesus while sitting directly next to Melinda.
Melinda-as-Manny: Please save me from this Jesus, this is not my saviour. This looks like Mike Tyson on drugs. Please.
Aimee-as-Jesus, laughing: You're going to hell!
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Almost. She announces that she's given up after disagreeing with her critiques in the design challenge, believing she should have been in the top, and threatens to leave because of her overall dissatisfaction with her track record. At the beginning of the next episode, she says that despite how she's feeling about the whole shebang, she's staying to thank those that helped her.
  • She's Back: Melinda spends the first few weeks landing in the bottom and feeling frustrated with both her placements and her perceived lack of appreciations for her efforts, which culminates in her going on an angry Untucked rant that includes cussing out the judges and threatening to quit, and then blowing up again after Venus decides to call out her attitude some more after she calms down. She manages to turn herself around the next week by apologizing to the others, winning the Snatch Game, and saving Kiki from lip-syncing as a way to thank her for saving her the previous week, while also thanking the other queens for pushing her to do better.

Denim (3rd=)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/denim.png

Age: 24
From: Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island *

"I can't help being a trans icon, it's in my jeans."

  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: Her entrance look is a strapless, 2000s-esque jumpsuit made entirely out of belts and scraps of denim fabric. It looks like she's wearing a giant, patchwork pair of jeans.
Nearah, upon meeting Denim: Are you Denim?
Denim: ...Maybe, I don't know. What gave it away?
  • The Fashionista: While she may not be as much of a seamstress, she still consistently presents imaginative and colorful runway looks every week, and regularly places at least high for look and design-based challenges. It should be no surprise learning Pythia's her drag family.
  • Hairy Girl: Downplayed. A good chunk of her looks show off her hairy chest, but presenting as a woman in drag isn't always a priority for Denim compared to the other queens.
  • Happily Married: Denim proudly talks about her trans male husband, and how great being in a relationship with another trans person has been for her.
  • Momma's Boy: Her mom is her partner for the makeover challenge, and the pair have an emotional talk about what it means to have a supportive parent as a queer person and how it can positively affect someone's life. Denim cites her mom as being the most important person for her during her transition, and wishes that every queer person could have a parent who is just as supportive.
  • Mom Looks Like a Sister: During the makeover challenge, when Denim's mom (dubbed "Velvet") steps out on the runway in drag, Brooke Lynn actually has to ask if that's Denim or her mom up there. Their Strong Family Resemblance earns praise from the judges and earns Denim her sole maxi challenge win.
  • One Degree of Separation: She's the drag sister of Season 2 finalist Pythia.
  • Only One Name: She's just Denim. She at one point went by "Denim Pussy", which is referenced on some of the bracelets from her "Sunglasses at Night" runway.
  • Trans Tribulations: During a chat about terminology and labels, Denim brings up the terms "AFAB" and "AMAB", and how they were originally coined by trans people as a way to describe their experiences and identities, but have since been co-opted by other groups (mainly cis female drag queens) in ways that don't sit right with her. She specifically laments being called an AFAB queen as a trans man, since most people assume that means she's a cis woman when she really isn't.
  • Verbal Tic: Has a very heavy vocal fry, which she leans into as part of her Julia Fox impersonation for the Snatch Game.

Nearah Nuff (3rd=)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nnuff.png

Age: 22
From: Calgary, Alberta

"Filler. It's a girl's best friend."

  • Alliterative Name: Nearah Nuff.
  • Big "WHAT?!": When Brooke Lynn announces that the lip-sync between her and Aimee is a double shantay, she lets out a bewildered "What?" from the back of the stage, which combined with her face clearly says "Did I do all that for nothing?".
  • Cooperation Gambit: Denied. After winning the Lip-Sync Slay-Off, she saves Denim with the Golden Beaver with the hopes that Denim will return the favour... only for Brooke Lynn to announce that the Golden Beaver won't be coming back afterwards, meaning that repayment never gets to happen.
  • Dance Battler: She's a trained dancer and fierce lip-syncer, having lip-synced five times and won them all, including being part of Canada's first double shantay and beating Aurora to win the Lip-Sync Slay-Off. As of this writing, she holds the record for most lip-syncs won in a single non-US season, and in the finale, Brooke dubs her the best lip-syncer not only of her season, but across the entire Drag Race series — an astonishing accomplishment.
  • Dresses the Same: When she found out that both she and Kitten were planning to do Jennifer Coolidge for the Snatch Game, neither one was willing to put their foot down or change their character, so they both decide to portray her while sitting right next to each other.
  • Plastic Bitch: She's open about having work done on her face, and while her drag persona is meant to be a glamorous Spoiled Brat she does have her genuinely shady moments during the show, particularly her big argument with Aimee in Untucked before their lip-sync.
  • Punny Name: "Near enough". Accidentally becomes a Meaningful Name once she gets to the finale before she's eliminated before the final lip-sync.
  • Whole Costume Reference: Her entrance look is a shout-out to Marilyn Monroe as she appears in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

Aurora Matrix (Runner-up)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/amatrix.png

Age: 22
From: Toronto, Ontario

"It's time for the Matrix Dynasty!"

  • Adults Dressed as Children: She portrays Chinese kid emperor Zhao Bing for the Snatch Game, with exaggerated childlike quirks and fake baby hands, but unfortunately for her her impression is deemed too flat and she lands in the bottom two for it.
  • Attractive Zombie: Her "Always A Bridesmaid" runway has her dressed as an undead bridesmaid wearing all black and blue, with a dress covered in faded wedding invitations and a sparkly blue tear trail down her cheek.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: She's not the actual youngest (that'd be Nearah), but she does call herself a baby during her introduction. She portrays an actual child during the Snatch Game, and admits that some of the challenges involve things that she had never done before at that point, such as rapping and sewing.
  • Culture Equals Costume: Multiple of her runways are inspired by her Chinese heritage, such as “Gemstones”, “Me Myself and I”, and “Coronation Eleganza Extravaganza”.
  • Dance Battler: Easily one of the strongest performers of this season, if not the strongest. Both of the challenges she wins are performance based (Girl Groups and the Rusical, making her the only one to win more than one challenge in the process) and wins all but two of her lip-syncs. She may have lost to Nearah in the Lip-Sync Slay-Off and Venus in the finals, but she sure didn't go down without a fight.
  • Dragons Up the Yin Yang: To reference her Chinese heritage, her "Me Myself And I" look features a sparkly blue and green Chinese dragon winding up her body and resting on her shoulder.
  • Eyes Do Not Belong There: Her promo look is reminiscent of a seraphim, complete with a gold winged headpiece covered in eyes.
  • Mythical Motifs: Her "Gemstones" runway (where she chose jade) is inspired by Guanyin, the Chinese goddess of mercy and compassion.
  • Piss-Take Rap: Inverted. Despite claiming to have never rapped before, Aurora delivers a fast-paced and high energy verse in the Girl Groups challenge without screwing up her words. That, combined with her impressive dance skills, lands her her first challenge win.
  • So Proud of You: During the makeover challenge episode, she receives a letter from her parents telling her that they're proud of her and all she's accomplished, and tears up while reading it out loud to the others.

Venus (Winner)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_23.png

Age: 27
From: Vancouver, British Columbia

"They say men are from Mars, women are from Venus. And everyone knows I have a humongous... [tears her skirt off] ...personality!"

  • Always Second Best: She gets her first and only win in the first episode after beating Denim in a top 2 lip-sync, but never manages to place higher than high or lower than safe for the rest of the competition until winning the finale.
  • Badass Native: She's the sole indigenous queen on her season (being Métis), and the first one in four seasons to make it to the finale plus the first one to win a season. She's also the second queen in Canadian herstory to never place below safe.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Venus is normally amicable and cheerful, but after Melinda comes back from her outburst in Untucked, Venus starts arguing with her again after asking Kiki why she chose to save Melinda when she outright said she was giving up. It culminates when Venus tells Melinda that she's not allowed to threaten to leave anymore, causing Melinda to blow up and storm out again while accusing Venus of telling her how to feel.
  • Briefs Boasting: Venus proudly notes that unlike most queens, she never tucks, and sets her stall out from the get-go by letting it all hang out in a binding unitard in the very first episode.
  • Costume Porn: When Venus walks out onto the runway in her finale gown, a stunning lace number inspired by The Golden Age of Hollywood, Brooke Lynn and the rest of the panels' mouths hang open in amazement at the beauty of her gown, makeup, and hair styling.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: When de-dragging for the first time, and throughout the season in the Werk Room, some of the other queens note how cute she is out of drag.
  • History Repeats: Prior to the finale, she has an almost identical track record to Season 1's Scarlett Bobo; one win, five weeks in the top, no weeks in the bottom. The only real differences are that Scarlett's season had an extra episode, meaning she had an extra safe placement as a result, and Venus won her season while Scarlett was a runner-up.
  • One Degree of Separation: She's the drag daughter of Season 2 finalist Kendall Gender.
  • Only One Name: Her full name was "Venus Kunt" at one point, but she just goes by Venus on the show.
  • Renaissance Woman: In the finale, the judging panel note that Venus excels in all aspects of the competition, and while her challenge win-rate as a winner is comparatively low, she joins an illustrious group of queens across the franchise who never place below safe, comprising of Bianca del Rio (US S6), Scarlett Bobo (Canada S1), Envy Peru (Holland S1), Kitty Scott-Claus (UK S3), Ella Vaday (UK S3), Farida Kant (Italy S1), Elecktra Bionic (Italy S1), Sharonne (Spain S2), Danny Beard (UK S4), and Ginger Johnson (UK S5).
  • Stellar Name: While she does bring up both the planet and the Roman goddess of love in relation to her name, the name Venus is actually just her legal first name, but suits a drag performer perfectly due to the aforementioned associations. For the makeover challenge, she puts her mom in drag and gives her the name "Uranus".
  • Stripperific: Not quite to the degree of Girlfriend, but her outfits still show a lot of body. Her entrance look is best described as one part leotard, one part butt floss, and she has two different outfits that are skimpy cheerleader uniforms with her name on them (one of them being the aforementioned entrance look).
