To-do list:

    Original post
I'm giving this a go but I'm a bit nervous about how this thread will be received, especially since I know many tropers cling to some Title Tropes no matter what.

Okay, so Excited Show Title suffers from a lack of purpose. The description doesn't have much going for it nor adds any significance to this trope, making it look like nothing but "this type of titles exist," which is clear in the examples. A good example would be like "The [title] has 3 exclamation marks (or wtv number) to grab the audience's attention/because it's being shouted by the protagonist/it implies the absurdity of the situation the plot is about/etc."

This is further proven in the wick check, where:

  • 53/60 or 88% are just ZCEs and potholes to works with this pattern.
  • 3/60 or 5% are examples that provide useful context beyond the work's title.
  • 4/60 or 7% are misuse and other unsorted examples.
The trope is just a big mess of zero context examples according to the site rules which add nothing new and has a big alarming number of examples with no context at all (13 wicks in total), which is expected when you can look at the work page name and know the "context". There are very few examples with the barest amount of useful context that explains the work's title. Strangely, some misuse the trope for names of characters and other things that aren't titles but these make about 7% of the wick sample so it's not a huge deal.
  • Possible solutions:
    • Give it a nice, neat cut. I thought of moving it to Just for Fun, but I don't see a point in noting something like this even for funsies.
    • Or turn it into an index, but it'll be a Search-Generated Index.

There's another future (?) solution I thought of since I'm bringing other non-tropeworthy Title Tropes to TRS, which is to make one supertrope of all common types of titles that don't need their own trope but can be included in the supertrope which will be an index or sth. Thoughts?

Wick check:

Excited Show Title's description doesn't add any tropeworthiness to the trope and it's just not noteworthy. This wick check will check for how many examples have actual useful examples beyond the work's name and how many are just ZCEs.

Wicks checked: 60/60.

  • Quick wick check results:
    • 37/60 or 62% are just ZCEs and potholes to works with this pattern.
    • 12/60 or 20% have some context but it adds nothing/is chairs.
    • 5/60 or 8% are examples that provide useful context beyond the work's title.
    • 4/60 or 7% are misuse and other unsorted examples.

  • Long analysis: The trope is just a big mess of zero context examples that add nothing new and has a big alarming number of examples with no context at all, which is understandable when you can look at the work page name and know the "context". A dozen of the examples sample have the barest amount of useful context that go beyond reiterating the work's title but don't add anything new/noteworthy. Strangely, some misuse the trope for names of characters and other things that aren't titles but these make about 7% of the wick sample so it's not a huge deal.

  • Solutions:
    • There's only one solution... give it a nice, neat cut.
    • I thought of moving it to Just for Fun, but eh.

  20. EarthBound.Tropes A To G: Its full title is Earth Bound: The War Against Giygas!
    • Some enemies also invoke this, like the Shroom! boss or the Arachnid!! — I think this bullet-point is misuse

  3. Anime.Future Card Buddyfight: The episode titles, many of the card names and even their effect text are all really excited!
  4. Anime.Yuri On Ice: Three exclamation points, right after the first word.
  5. ComicBook.Hate: The series has been published both with and without an exclamation mark in the title. a Played With example but it still adds nothing interesting
  6. Creator.EC Comics: Many stories started with a few lines of narration which led to the... TITLE!
  7. Fanfic.Morganite: Most all of the chapter names have exclamation points in them.
  8. Literature.Fortunes Of War: Both novels' titles are shouting at the reader.
  9. Literature.Sorcery: Yes, it's Sorcery! with an exclamation mark, not just plain Sorcery.
  10. Literature.Time To: Both titles end in exclamation points.
  11. Literature.Wagons West: in the original 24-book series, each title ends in an exclamation mark.
  12. Manga.Again: The title has two exclamation marks.

    More useful context than just the work's name/exaggerations/follows a pattern/etc. (5/60)
  1. Animation.Kerem A Kovetkezot: The title is a phrase that is yelled by Ursula when asking for the next patient.
  2. Cuphead.Tropes A To E: "Botanic Panic!", "Junkyard Jive!", "Aviary Action!", "High Seas Hi-Jinx!", and "All Bets Are Off!" — The work uses this pattern repetitively
  3. Fanfic.Forever Fanfic: It's the final word of the story.
  4. Fanfic.Tokimeki Poke Live And Twinbee: In addition to the title of the series itself, the titles for the Main Stories play this straight. Averted with the titles of Side Story arcs however. — The aversion doesn't count because they're not noteworthy
  5. Film.Viva Maria: As you see, the title has an exclamation point. Makes sense since it's a cheer. — A justified example

    Other/unsorted (4/60)
  1. Excited Title! Two-Part Episode Name!: See also Excited Show Title, which is a title without declarative sentences.
  2. Characters.Cultist Simulator: (In Percussigants' folder), The Percussigant! It's basically not pronounced right unless you say it with an exclamation point. — Misuse — a name, not a title
  3. Characters.Heroes Of The Storm Skin Themes: (Nexomania!), The world has an exclamation mark in it! — Misuse — not a title
  4. Literature.Cigarette Girl: Idroes Moeria named his cigarette brand "Independence!". Yes, with the exclamation points. Misuse — not a title

[up][up] Hmm, but exclamation marks aren't symbols, they're punctuation signs, which is partially why Questioning Title? and this trope are their own separate tropes.

I also think there might be tropeworthiness issues with Lucky Charms Title too.

[up][up][up] - If we can't make a exclamation mark into something tropeworthy, then it's just a symbol as well?

Looking at the inbounds, it has 4,543 inbounds. So I think it's safe to cut, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Yup. Finished the Manga/ and Podcast/ namespaces. Still working on the Music/ ones.

What do I do about the sandboxes (Sandbox.Title Tropes, Sandbox.Trope Pantheons Rework, etc.) and Pantheon.Titles?

[up]The Sandbox.Title Tropes wick can just removed. I asked the Pantheon thread for help with the Pantheon wicks, which we usually do if a deprecated trope has a deity dedicated to it.
