Dr. Gokú and Associates

    Dr. Gokú

"Doctor" Gokú

The titular doctor, once Earth's greatest hero he retired from fighting after dying over and over and realizing his true dream as a doctor after 19 years of flunking medical school.
  • Adaptational Dumbass: Canonically, Goku isn't the brightest bulb outside of battle but Dr. Gokú takes it further as he even forgets his own children's names.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Downplayed as he is still a Nice Guy at the end of the day, but Dr. Gokú is negligent of his family and forgets his own children's names.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Because he gave up training and martial arts, Dr. Goku isn't battle-hungry like his canon self and though he can still fire ki blasts and the likes to fight threats, he often prefers to solve issues through talking.
  • Everyone Has Standards: While he is willing to do some unsavory things from time to time, he is understandably bothered when Yamcha and Nappa begin drug-dealing to make money and tries to get them to close down their business before it escalates to worse

    Vegeta

Proctólogo Vegeta

Voiced by: Ral

Dr. Goku's rival, who became a proctologist to keep up with him.
  • Came Back Wrong: He gest revived by the Dragon Balls in episode 52 of Dr. Gokú Super as a zombie that Bulma puts down without hesitation.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Mames, Kakaroto!".
  • Killed Off for Real: Dies both because of getting into a crash due to buying a car with faulty brakes from Krillin and Dr. Goku screwing up the operation meant to save his life at the very end of the series. Even years later and 6 seasons into the continuation Dr. Gokú Super he still hasn't been wished back to life successfully, the one time Bulma tried ending with him being revived as a zombie that she puts down immediately.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Bulma does finally revive him in Dr. Gokú Super... As a zombie that she puts down immediately; she seems to have given up on reviving him afterwards and tried to build a robot to replace him which didn't quite work out either.

    Nappa

Nappa Flores Rodriguez

One of Dr. Goku's closest friends, formerly a Saiyan invader and warrior, he retired to become a writer and later on, a gamer.
  • Adaptational Heroism: Turned over a new leaf and has made a honest life on Earth for himself. He's at most willing to do unsavory things to prove a point, but compared to his murderous canon self he's a saint.
  • Ascended Extra: Nappa in canon has never come back after his death, and even in the GT continuity he appeared solely to get killed by Vegeta without any lines. Here, he's one of the main characters.
  • Character Catchphrase: "A huevito!"
  • Cloudcuckoolander: His way of thinking is... odd, to say the least.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: He and Yamcha both have the propensity to make things worse for everyone with their lethally stupid schemes or the fallout of their poor decision-making.

    Yamcha

Yamcha Cepeda Róbles

One of Dr. Goku's close friends, a Manchild who lives by his short-term jobs.
  • Ascended Extra: Yamcha has not much of a role in the franchise after the end of the Saiyans and Namek arc, with each of his appearances becoming gradually scarce and occasionally getting at most some A Day in the Spotlight episodes in various series. Here, he's one of the main protagonists.
  • Back from the Dead: He wound up gunned down at the end of the second season but was brought back the next one by Bulma's wish.
  • Didn't Think This Through: He's so caught up in doing things in the heat of the moment that he often forgets to think long-term, it bites him in the ass several times.

    Puar

Puar

The cute critter companion of Yamcha, who after being arrested and having to do jailtime has changed a little bit.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: As a result of being put through the wringer by the antics of Dr. Goku and the others, Puar is much more assertive and ruder.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: He's rude to the others but is hardly ever wrong about what he criticizes them for, such as calling out Goku on his horrible parenting.
  • Vocal Evolution: Flashbacks prior to his release from prison showed he had the same kind of high-pitched feminine voice his canon self has; in the present day he developed a much more masculine voice befitting his new look.

Dr. Gokú's Friends

    Piccolo Psicologo
The legendary Namekian who also dedicated himself to a professional career as a psychologist.
  • Drugs Are Bad: Abusing them took a toll on his mental health and reduced him to a crazy depraved hermit.
  • Extreme Omnisexual: Apparently has been seen having sex with a tree following his Sanity Slippage.
  • Irony: The guy working as a psychologist went nuts and became a reclusive hermit living in the woods.
  • Put on a Bus: Left midway through the original series and has yet to come back, he's at least been acknowledged a few times with dialogue indicating Piccolo has wound up losing his marbles due to excessive drug abuse.
  • Sanity Slippage: According to Goku's words he has gone quite crazy after he went on a vacation trip with Dr. Goku's friends and got too addicted to drugs.

    Kaiosama

Kaiosama

One of Dr. Goku's mentors and the one he most often contacts when he needs his help.
  • Butt-Monkey: Nothing goes right for him, all the pre-Buu saga events happened to him, including dying when Cell exploded and it only gets worse from that point forth; from having to tolerate Goku's stupidity and antics getting him into constant trouble, to having his girlfriend, East Kai, break up with him and getting arrested because of Goku sending El Chapo to his place.

    Bulma
One of Goku's oldest friend and Vegeta's wife, she occasionally helps Goku and his allies in their escapades.
  • Easily Forgiven: Despite Dr. Goku being partly responsible for Vegeta's death she doesn't holds it against him and is on speaking terms with him in Dr. Goku Super.

    Trunks
Vegeta's son, who is also gay, to his father's discomfort.
  • Adaptational Sexuality: In canon he has only shown attraction towards girl (namely Mai) and reacted with as much disgust as Goten to Ototsuki's advances, here he's gay and in a relationship with El Mañoso (Ototsuki).

    El Mañoso
Trunk's Manly Gay husband who occasionally shows up.

    Cell

Perfect Cell/El Cucarachon

The "Perfect" Android creation of Dr. Gero (also his surrogate son), he initially lives in poverty before eventually joining Dr. Goku's group as a part-time friend.
  • Adaptational Badass: Downplayed. But in addition to the canonical genes he possessed, this version of Cell also has genes from Boss Rabbit and General Blue which would add the former's Story-Breaker Power of transmutation and Blue's telekinesis to his arsenal, he never shows these powers off, however.
  • Adaptational Heroism: In canon, Cell was pure evil and had no redeeming qualities, even planning to go on a universal rampage to show off his power. Here he gave up his evil ways and even tries to help save the Earth from being destroyed by Bills once he realizes his time-travel shenanigans indirectly caused its destruction.
  • All for Nothing: His time travel trip to save Dr. Gero's life only gave him a much more violent death when robbers broke into his store, in addition to Bills destroying Earth for good measure.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Once he realizes his time travel ended up causing Earth to be destroyed, Cell is mortified and tries to afix his mistake.
  • Straight Gay: There's no indication of him having attraction towards women and was once in a relationship with Freezer; outside of that you wouldn't be able to tell his sexuality at any point.
  • Truly Single Parent: He's had tons of Cell Jrs but they all tend to blow up.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Really wants his father, Dr. Gero, to acknowledge and love him. Unfortunately, he only gets his wish once Gero is on death's doorstep.

    Don Krillin

Don Krillin

A used car salesman who is more than eager to scam people to make a quick buck.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: He's a used car salesman who is perfectly willing to endanger his clients by selling them cars in shoddy condition, including cars without brakes. Likewise, when his actions get Vegeta killed he shows no remorse for it.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: He was partly responsible for getting Vegeta killed but suffered no direct consequences in the original series. Later on, the 2020 Dr. Goku Christmas Special would reveal that he was infected by Bacterian with COVID-19 and died as a result, he was brought back from that but died again when Bills destroyed Earth and then 18 decided to divorce him and tried to make off with the money he made for herself, though he at least kept half of the winnings.
  • Killed Offscreen: Died twice this way, first to COVID-19 he got from Bacterian and then when Bills blew up Earth. Both times he was brought back in the end.

    Roshi

Master Roshi

The old master of Dr. Goku, now retired for real.
  • Flat Character: He has not much of a notable role other than being around scenes for a quick gag.

    Nabiki

Nabiki

Nappa's manager who he constantly gets roped into his wacky schemes.
  • Red Herring: During Season 2 she is seemingly built up as the one who hired Jit to kill Karin due to her addiction to Ermitalina and remarking on the convenience of the latter's death allowing the drug business to keep going but it was Dr. Goku who did so.

    El Chapo

El Chapo Guzman

The "Most Powerful Man on Earth", a drug-dealing crimelord who becomes acquaintanced with Goku following a couple shenanigans involving a prison break.

    Saitama

    Mario Castañeda

Mario Castañeda/"Goku"/Kevin Arnold

Voiced by: Mario Castañeda

A fictional version of the real life voice actor, here he is an insane man who thinks he's the real Goku. He becomes friends with Dr. Goku after being helped to find out what happened to his old dog, "Krillin".
  • Casting Gag: Due to the big role association the real-life Mario has with being Goku's voice the series portrays him as a delusional man who believes he's the real Goku and goes as far as thinking Dr. Goku's an imposter.
  • Character Development: Gets more lucid after being helped to find his dog, Krillin, who had passed away while he was in jail. From that point on he also becomes friendlier to Dr. Goku and his friends.
  • Noodle Incident: Had a second random outburst of violence just after being released and had to go incognito again for a new job.

    Master Karin

Master Karin

One of Dr. Goku's old teachers and holder of the Senzu Beans (Semillas del Ermitaño), when Yamcha and Nappa start up their own drug business with his seeds he aims to stop them but is killed by Jit before he can force them to do so.
  • Killed Off for Real: El Jit kills him to keep the Ermitalina business going and he never comes back.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Isn't happy in the slightest about Dr. Goku, Yamcha and Nappa's complicity in the "Ermitalina" scheme and puts his foot down in an attempt to get them to stop it before it results in disaster.

    Jefe Conejo

Jefe Conejo

A humanoid rabbit that once fought Goku and was later locked up in jail for an unrevealed crime. He becomes an ally during the breakout.
  • Story-Breaker Power: Acknowledged at last as his carrot powers allow him to take out Goku Black before he can kill the heroes. Even Dr. Goku wonders where the hell the rabbit was when he would've been useful in every arc.

    Vegetron 3000

Vegetron 3000

A robotic replacement for Vegeta that Bulma built after one too many failed attempts to wish her husband back to life. Unfortunately, it came out as a misogynist jerkass.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: His AI was meant to help Bulma and satisfy her feminine needs, only for Vegetron 3000 to become a misogynist somehow and much more unpleasant than Vegeta was.
  • Robot Me: A robotic copy of Vegeta made long after the latter's death.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Bulma built him to be one for Vegeta after she failed to bring him the latter back to life in good condition, she regrets it when Vegetron 3000 turns out to be much more of a jerkass than expected.

Dr. Gokú's Family

    Milk

Milk

Goku's wife and mother of Goten and Gohan, who grows weary of her husband's escapades, eventually getting a divorce.
  • Ship Sinking: She divorces from Goku and while Goku tries and mend their relationship, she doesn't looks back and the two remain split from each other for the rest of the series.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Unlike the canon Chi-Chi, who was willing to tolerate Goku's antics and tendency to neglect her, Milk outright gets tired of it all and gets a divorce by the end of the original series.

    Gohan

Gohan/Goku Jr.

Goku's oldest son who he also can't remember the name of.
  • Flat Character: Compared to his younger brother and later half-brother he's not around much.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Tells his father to get down from the band stage in Trunk's wedding party since he's drunk and will inevitably do something stupid.

    Goten

Goten/Gokú Chiquito

Goku's youngest son who grows disillusioned with his father over his immaturity. Also a hardcore drug-addicted man-child.
  • Adaptational Badass: He eventually achieves his own version of Ultra Instinct in the Season 4 finale and handily defeats Jotaro Kujo with it.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Due to growing disillusioned with his father's absence, Goten is not the Nice Guy he's in canon and is much more bitter and snarky as a result.
  • Basement-Dweller: Had no job or education and preferred to stay at his mom's house mooching off her, until she kicks him out and he goes to live in Yamcha's apartment instead.
  • Broken Pedestal: Unlike Goten in canon, his disillusioned view of his father never improved and he fully resents him for his neglect and absence from his life and later on is unimpressed with his attempts at reconnecting. However Goku eventually manages to reconcile with him after the fourth season's climax where he inspires his son to achieve Ultra Instinct to defeat Jotaro.
  • Character Development: In Season 5 he begins to develop past his Manchild tendencies and grows closer to his father after some bonding.

    Caulifla

Caulifla

Goku's second romantic fling, who he ends up getting pregnant, causing her to force the Doctor to care for their child.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: In canon she was a reckless outlaw, here she is just a normal inhabitant of Earth and at worst is justifiably bitter towards Goku for his negligence.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: In the 2020 Christmas Special she gets mentioned with rumors of her and Goku having had a fling offscreen due to her son being similar to Dr. Goku which the Doctor nervously denies. We later find out that these rumors were quite right about the situation.
  • Mama Bear: When she learns that Dr. Goku left their son under Cell's care while he went to New Namek, she is utterly pissed about it. Moreso after she's died in Earth's destruction and isn't any more calmed down by learning her son is alive.
  • Second Love: While she initially only associates with Dr. Goku so he would take care of their child and let her have fun in her off-time, she comes to grow genuine feelings for him later on and wants to start a more legitimate relationship with him.

    Gokú aún mas Chiquito

Gokú aún mas Chiquito

Goku's third and now youngest son who he had with Caulifla out of wedlock.
  • Children Are Innocent: He is just a toddler and thus isn't aware of what's going on in fullest.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: He looks the same as Goku did as a baby only with a moustache.
  • Sole Survivor: The only member of Goku's family to survive the destruction of Earth at Beerus' hands due to being safely away with Cell on a space station.

Antagonists

    Dr House

Doctor House

Dr. Goku's rival at IMSS and a big critic of his work.
  • Karmic Death: After mocking Goku following the latter failing to save Vegeta's life he gets blasted with a ki ball for his troubles.
  • The Rival: To Dr. Goku while at the IMSS, often expecting him to screw up and taking delight when he does so.

    Dr. Gero

Doctor Gero

An old man that once tried to kill Goku with deadly androids, he's since given up on evil and has dedicated himself to being a medical doctor and acts as Dr. Goku's rival.
  • Abusive Parent: He wasn't the best father to Cell, something her recognized later on when he attempted to make up for lost time with Cell and be a good father to him since he was dying of a viral infection.
  • Arc Villain: Of Season 1, his business threatens Dr. Goku's and thanks to Yamcha their feud gets serious enough to put both their clinics on the line.
  • Scatterbrained Senior: In the latter seasons he seemingly falls victim more and more to senility as his actions and behavior get a lot more nonsensical. He at least does retain enough lucidity to recognize he was a bad father to Cell.

    El Jit

El Jit

An assassin from another universe who murders Karin to keep the Ermitalina business going.
  • Arc Villain: Of Season 2 after Teo kills his partner, Winnie, motivating Jit to kill Yamcha in revenge.
  • Assassin Outclassin': The duel between him and Teo Gonzalez ends with Teo gunned down as soon as the fight starts.
  • Badass Moustache: Has a stereotypical "norteño" moustache (that his canon self lacks) to denote him as a fearsome mercenary.
  • Hero Killer: Manages to take out Yamcha in the Season 2 finale, though Yamcha ensures Jit dies too before he himself expires.
  • Killed Off for Real: Yamcha guns him down with his van after he inflicts mortal injuries on him and Teo.
  • Revenge: Becomes his motivation to kill Yamcha after his partner, Winnie is gunned down by Teo who was hired by Yamcha for protection.

    Winnie

Winnie

Jit's partner-in-crime who accompanies him on his reports. He is gunned down by Teo Gonzalez, inciting Jit to go after Yamcha.
  • Adaptational Name Change: Botamo is renamed Winnie here for comedic effect.
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: Canonically Botamo and Hit are at best acquaintances and haven't interacted with each other onscreen outside of the tournaments. Here, Winnie is Jit's partner and his death devastates Jit.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Canonically Botamo can reflect most (if not all) attacks thanks to his powers letting him send attacks hitting him to a parallel dimension. Here a few bullets put him down.
  • Shout-Out: He's renamed Winnie here since the canon Botamo resembles the character.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: Doesn't even lasts an episode before Teo Gonzalez guns him down as a warning to Jit.

    Goku Black and Zamasu

Goku Black and Zamasu

A pair of dangerous crooks who have committed planetary genocide and were sent to jail to await trial since they came from a different dimension.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Zamasu lacks his immortality here, so he's entirely reliant on his partner to keep him safe. Once Black is out of the picture, he gets stomped on and killed instantly by Oozaru!Nappa.
  • Forced Transformation: Black's final fate has him turned into a carrot by Jefe Conejo.
  • Race Lift: Goku Black is a black man here.
  • Squashed Flat: Nappa as an Oozaru crushes Zamasu underfoot during the breakout's climax.

    Teo Gonzalez

Teo Gonzalez

An assassin hired by Yamcha to protect him after Jit kills Karin. Seemingly dying at Jit's hand, he turns up alive later and reopens the Crane School to serve as the rivals to Yamcha's Kame Kai dojo.
  • Adaptational Name Change: Possibly, but thus far he's only been referred to as Teo Gonzalez or Teo for simplicity.
  • Reports of My Death Were Greatly Exaggerated: He seemingly died when Jit gunned him down, but he turned up alive 3 seasons later, he even lampshades it saying he was simply in a coma the whole time.
  • The Worf Effect: Gets gunned down by Jit as soon as their duel starts and doesn't do anything after.

    Androids 17 and 18

Androide 17 and Androide 18

Dr. Gero's adopted children, who after winning the inheritance he left following his death, use it to gentrify New Namek and get rich.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Even outside of their nicer qualities compared to the Future Androids, Present 17 and 18 were both amicable people who weren't overtly mean to even the Z Warriors and once they had redeemed themselves they proved to be nice people even outside of battle. Here, both are greedier than their canon selves and even become the sixth season's villains when they attempt to gentrify New Namek.
  • Adaptational Villainy: 17 in Canon started out as a rebellious punk with standards but turned fully good after the Cell arc, becoming a park ranger that protected the wildlife. Here, his greed got the best of him and turned him to become a greedy magnate. 18 was similarly a good person in canon and though not as overtly bad as 17, still is apathetic enough to the effects of the gentrification on the Namekian natives.
  • Gold Digger: 18 was seemingly only into Krillin for how much money he could make. She eventually left him and even started an OnlyFans account to become as rich as she could and buy all kind of pointless luxuries.
  • Incest Subtext: Subverted. 17 certainly makes some remarks that skew close to this but 18 is just grossed out.
  • Role Reversal: In canon they teamed up with the Z Warriors to fight Cell as even at their worst Cell was Eviler than Thou to the Present selves. Here, Gero's death causes them to show themselves as worse than Cell as the sixth season's arc villains while Cell goes on to become part of the good guys' ensemble.

    Bills and Whis

Bills/Beerus and Whis

The God of Destruction and his Angel assistant, they arrive on Earth seeking the "Strongest Mortal in the World" and fight them or else they destroy the planet but Bills later gets entertained enough by the Ermitalina drug enough to not destroy the planet.
  • Adaptational Badass: Downplayed. While canon Beerus is stronger than all of Earth's warriors by a large margin, his version here is even more imposing since none of the Z Warriors, even Goku, has any superpowers that could let them fight him at any level making him truly untouchable.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Neither have any change of heart or develop fondness for Earth beyond the Ermitalina supply they get, so in a timeline where such drugs didn't exist Whis and Beerus immediately destroy the planet the minute they can.

Others

    Dr. Simi
Dr. Goku's boss at his first job.
  • Put on a Bus: Hasn't shown up after the end of the original series, though his influence lives on in Dr. Goku's clinic.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Despite Dr. Goku's screw-ups he gives him several chances to improve and only fires him once he screws up the operation meant to save Vegeta's life.

Raditz

Goku's older brother who like Nappa gave up his evil ways, becoming a hipster blogger.

  • The Hyena: He spends his screentime laughing in-between sentences

    Oliver Atom

Oliver Atom

A football player and one of Dr. Goku's clients who loses his legs to the doctor's incompetence.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Loses both of his legs thanks to Dr. Goku's incompetence.
  • Career-Ending Injury: Dr. Goku's ineptitude causes him to lose both his legs, meaning he can no longer play football.

    Piano

Piano

A lousy lawyer that Yamcha keeps hiring despite being aware of his ineptitude.
  • Adaptational Heroism: His canonical self was a willing aide in King Piccolo's plan to conquer Earth and regularly slaughter humans for fun. Here he is a lawyer trying to make an honest life, even if he isn't good at his job.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Subverted. His eccentricities only accentuate his ineptitude and he himself wonders why Yamcha keeps relying on him despite knowing he's not good at his job.

    Freezer

Freezer

An old flame of Cell's, now living with his "sugar daddy" at a luxurious apartment.
  • Camp Gay: He's extremely effeminate, was in a relationship with Cell and currently lives with an older man as his lover.
  • Retired Monster: Was once the Emperor of the Universe but now lives at a luxurious mansion instead. He can still boss his old minions around if he needs to, however.

    Fuerzas Ginyu

Fuerzas Ginyu

Formerly an evil task force under Freezer they now work as a Norteño band for hire at events. Ginyu himself shows up a few times on his own.
  • Adaptational Heroism: They went from evil enforcers to simple band members who are willing to help others if they need it.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: When Ginyu switches bodies with Past!Gero so he can let the doctor get his injection to save his life, he ends up teaching Gero's assistant some dance moves and unwittingly causes them to alter the original outcome of the mascot dance battle of Season 1 in Gero's favor, which results in Dr. Goku's clinic closing down, the Ermitalina never being made and Bills destroying the planet since there was nothing to bribe him with.

    Naruto

Naruto

A ninja who settled down for a job as a janitor in the same hospital as Dr. Goku.
  • Call-Back: At the end of the original series Dr. Goku advised Naruto to keep trying to work hard and that he had potential for more than a measly job. When we see him again in Dr. Gokú Super, he's taken that advice to heart and works as a reporter now.

    La Mafia Italiana

La Mafia Italiana/Sidra and the Trio De Dangers

A group of italian mobsters who've been locked in jail as well.

    Cui

  • Adaptational Job Change: A high-ranking soldier in canon who's a news reporter here.
  • No Sympathy: Has no sympathy for either the Namekians or Yamcha in their respective plights, even casually remarking in an interview with Yamcha that the Namekians will lynch him if he fails to defend them successfully at the trail.
