Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

A couple of rewrites for Anime And Manga K To Z:

  • Kurau Phantom Memory: Satoshi Ichise stands out among all the villains as the most wicked. A Mad Scientist extraordinaire, Ichise torments a little girl to awaken powers within her, even at the risk of dangerous surges of energy within her. Later contracted to create an army of Super Soldiers, Ichise enjoys the feeling of power he gets from his experiments and remains apathetic as his work kills countless among his test subjects.
  • Tales of Zestiria: The X: Lord Mathia Bartlow of the Ladylake City Council pushes for war with the neighboring nation, Rolance, and tries to assassinate his princess, Alisha, when she advocates for peaceful resolution. With Alisha later sent away, Bartlow has his troops stationed to launch a full-scale assault on Rolance. Branding Alisha and her allies traitors when they stop his plot and killing many of her allies, Bartlow later crucifies her mentor in the hopes of luring out Alisha and her companions. When Alisha instead goes to the palace to warn her father of Bartlow's treachery, Bartlow arrives and incidentally mortally wounds the king, planning to frame Alisha.

Bartlow also goes to Tales Series (at the end).

~jessicadicicco610, an edit won't be made because it will date the writing. If anything it should happen once it's actually cancelled. Next time you bring an edit, please provide it as it would be written on the page itself.

~MaLady, we'd like to leave Main.Fast Eddie a red link. Making it a disambig will break it.

~Prime32, that doesn't seem to be correlative to the trope meaning.

Done to here.

Why is Literature/Lolita locked? It's one of my favorite books and there are some edits I want to make to it. (For example, at least one entry mentions something that only happens in the film but doesn't specify that, and I want to fix that. Also, I want to add a Jerkass Woobie entry for Charlotte.) Locked Pages says "Restored after cut" as the reason, and I don't know what that means.

It was cut for people making pedophilia apologia edits. It was restored after some clean-up, but it will remain locked due to that group's persistence.

If you have valid edits you'd like to make, you can offer them here.

At DC Animation, for Young Justice, for Bedlam, there should be "of season 3" after "first three episodes". Thanks.

EDIT: Also, for Bartlow, please change (sorry about this) the last sentence to:

When Alisha instead goes to the palace to warn her father of Bartlow's treachery, Bartlow arrives and mortally wounds the king while trying to kill her, then nonchalantly decides to pin the crime on Alisha.

EDIT 2: At Resident Evil, for Brian Irons, please pothole REmake to Resident Evil 2 (Remake).

So I know Emily Youcis was just edited, but I think we have reached a new consensus here, agreeing that we should at least somehow mention her views in order not to whitewash, as it also bleeds into her work, with nombretomado telling us to make suggestions for how to reasonably make mention of these matters.

I'd say a sentence at the end of the description at the top should do. Maybe:

Note: As of 2016, she became a public advocate for White Supremacy, which has strongly influenced both her public image, as well as the content of her work itself.

Because, as we already discussed in the ATT thread, it isn't just irrelevant creator trivia, it is directly affecting the work, and not mentioning it comes off as whitewashing.

We also mention it for other creators, like HP Lovecraft f.e.

Slight rewrite for Video Games L To Z:

  • Shattered Dimensions: Mysterio—Quentin Beck—is portrayed as far more wicked and dangerous than in the comic. Failing to steal the Tablet of Order and Chaos due to Spider-Man's interference, Mysterio escapes with one of the now-shattered fragments of the Tablet. Realizing the power of his fragment, Mysterio goes on a rampage, destroying anything in his path. After finding Madame Web's location, Mysterio tortures her, then uses her as a hostage to force Spider-Man to retrieve the rest of the Tablet's fragments for him. Restoring the Tablet to its original state, Mysterio gains god-like powers, destroys the Multiverse, and plans to remake it in his image.

Fan Works:

Please add the following to the Video Games Section (Sonic):

  • Sonic: Dr. Robotnik, formerly known as Julian Kintobor, declares war on Mobius under the belief that society should be under his leadership, beginning his path of destruction by committing genocide on almost all of the South Islanders. Taking over Station Square, he has his forces overwhelm the G.U.N. Soldiers trying to stop him, and even attempts to have one of them murdered in cold blood. When Sonic stops this, he then proceeds to brutally torture a captured soldier for information on the Blue Blur, and when the soldier fails to provide him with the info, Robotnik orders the man to be robotized against his will. When an group of soldiers try to fight back, Robotnik orders his forces to ambush and mercilessly kill them. After Sonic saves the soldiers, Robotnik immediately orders his forces to kill Sonic for daring to interfere with his plans for conquest. Claiming that he's a well-intentioned man who's acting in the people's best interests, Dr. Robotnik is in reality a cruel, ruthless Mad Scientist who would kill anyone who would dare to get in his way.

Others

  • The 100 fanfic Lightning Only Strikes Once: Nia, Queen of the Ice Nation, is narcissistic, spiteful, and ambitious. When Lexa originally became Heda of the twelve clans and thus outranked her, Nia has Lexa's lover Costia brutally tortured, decapitated and sends Lexa her severed head. In the present, she is trying to undermine Lexa's rule with a vicious nightblood named Ontari and places a kill order on her own exiled son Roan. When the ARK first returns to earth, Nia breaks the coalition laws by allying with the Mountain Men, sacrificing the people of Skaikru and own followers. When her crimes are later exposed, Nia plans a war against the other clans; allies with Diana Sydney to steal and launch a nuke powerful enough to wipe out a country; allows Diana to use her people as slaves; tortures Gustus and Titus, the latter to an inch of his life; and plans to repeat what she's done to Cosita with Clarke, sending Lexa a lock of Costia's hair. When Clarke escapes, Nia goes on a mad search for her, raiding and burning villages and torturing her people; she ultimately keeps all food rations to herself to fortify her hideout, not caring that she's condemning her kingdom to starvation. When forced into a final confrontation with Clarke and Lexa, Nia attempts to kill them slowly.
  • Jessica Jones (2015) Fan Film Killgrave: The Purple Man: The titular "Purple Man," real name Zebediah Killgrave, is a lunatic with mind-controlling and a love for tormenting others. Having been terrorizing New York City through such means as forcing people to kill themselves and their loved ones, Killgrave is introduced ordering a young woman to jump to her death from a skyscraper. Later, Killgrave corners the two detectives tracking him, and, after having one shoot himself in the head, reveals he has already forced the other to murder his wife and child and enjoy the act, and ultimately orders the man to go kill himself after taunting Killgrave's Arch-Enemy Jessica Jones. Killgrave makes the most of his limited screen time to be a truly deplorable madman committing his crimes solely for his own amusement.

Change this typo on Monster.Literature A To F.

  • Everland: Queen Katherina is the warmongering ruler of Germany obsessed with world domination. Having poisoned her husband, the former king of Germany, Katherina proceeded to wage war against the surrounding nations, slaughtering millions of people, earning her the name the Bloodred Queen. Creating the deadly Horologia virus from a poisoned apple, Katherina unleashed the virus on England's population, wiping out most of its adult population and leaving those eighteen and under to suffer a long, painful demise from its effects. Even her children aren't except from her cruelty, as she gouged out her son Hook's eye on his thirteenth birthday and physically abused her stepson Jack. She also performed ghastly experiments on countless animals, transforming them into half-machine monstrosities that terrorize the kingdom. When she learns that several of her prisoners have escaped, Katherina brutally kills one of them, deeming him useless. Upon her defeat, Katherina fatally wounds her son as a final act of spite.

Change "except" to "exempt".

Not sure where else to ask this, but Example Indentation in Trope Lists has an example using Five-Man Band that is the exact opposite of how all Five-Man Band examples are posted on the wiki as stated in the guidelines for the Five Man Band Cleanup.

This was discussed here, and the response was that the guidelines laid out in that initial post stand due to the Grandfather Clause.

I would like a mod to weigh in on this and provide some sort of official ruling about this exception. If confirmed, the Five-Man Band example on Example Indentation in Trope Lists should be changed to the following:

The only exception to this is for the composite trope Five-Man Band.

Right:

  • Five-Man Band: George, Bob, Dave, Charlie, and Alice work together as a team.
    • The Leader: George leads The Team
    • The Lancer: Bob is George's best friend, but also his rival for Alice's affection.
    • The Smart Guy: Charlie invents all the team's gadgets.
    • The Big Guy: Dave is 7 feet, 300 pounds, and wrestles bears.
    • The Chick: Alice keeps the team together.
