TOPO'S LIFE STORY

Opening Credits: Cruel Dilemme II — Shiro Sagisu (Wow, this is setting up one depressing tale, I can tell)

Waking Up: Hold On — Limp Bizkit (...Okay then. That's grandiose even for me)

First Day Of School: Isolated System — Muse (FUCKING A)

Falling In Love: Real Tears For Sale — Marillion (Now THIS is disturbingly fitting. Such a pretty girl, the anger didn't hide it)

Fight Song: Dance of the Ranyart / Olias — Jon Anderson (Serene fight songs are always the most powerful.)

Breaking Up: Big Time — Peter Gabriel (So... We broke up because one of us is a Gordon Gecko expy?)

Prom: The Light Before We Land — The Delgados (Best prom everrrrr. Deliciously dystopian)

Life's OK: Abacab — Genesis (Huh. Funky.)

Mental Breakdown: The Battle of Evermore — Led Zeppelin (It has a vague unsettling air to it, so I can dig it)

Driving: These Living Arms — The Tea Party (Hmmm. It has a nice beat, but not so much for driving I would imagine)

Flashback: Babe I'm Gonna Leave You — Led Zeppelin (Wow... So this actually ties in with Big Time if I was the dick and broke up with her. Cool)

Getting Back Together: Absolutely Curtains — Pink Floyd (Most unsettling make-up I've ever known)

Wedding: He Knows You Know — Marillion (A song about drugs. I'm sure this means something, but I don't know what. I'll just sing psychedelic praises to the depths of the china bowl)

Birth Of Child: Somewhere In Between — Kate Bush (The most serene of all children XD)

Final Battle: Criminal World — Simple Minds (Again: FUCKING A)

Death Scene: Have A Cigar — Pink Floyd (I don't know what to make of this except: I'M GONNA' RIDE THE GRAVY TRAIN... TO HELL)

* Opening Credits: Two Steps Behind - Def Leppard (Not a good way to start)

* Fight Song: Taxman - The Beatles (I guess I'm fighting the taxman)
* Breaking Up: Feeling Good - Muse (Maybe as Soundtrack Dissonance)
* Prom: Black Hearted Woman - The Allman Brothers Band (Not gonna be a good prom)
* Life's OK: And Your Bird Can Sing - The Beatles (cheery tune, so this works)
* Mental Breakdown: Riot Act - Skid Row (Actually appropriate!)
* Driving: Hot On for Nowhere - Led Zeppelin (?)
* Flashback: The Long and Winding Road - The Beatles (Very good choice!)
* Getting Back Together: In the Flesh? - Pink Floyd (This relationship continues to be doomed)
* Wedding: Tom Sawyer - Rush (?)
* Birth Of Child: Losing It - Rush (?)
* Final Battle: Green River - CCR (I guess the battles happening at Green River)
* Death Scene: Blackbird - Alter Bridge (Amazingly appropriate!)
* Funeral Song: Love Me Do - The Beatles (Not so appropriate)
* End Credits: Cry Baby Cry - The Beatles (?)\\

Well, hear we go, Airman's life on shuffle (please iPod please don't fuck me over):

  • Opening Credits: Metal Gear Saga - Metal Gear Solid 4 OST

  • Waking Up: I Wanna Be - STANCE PUNKS (I may or may not be in Soul Eater.)

  • First Day Of School: Father and Son - Tron Legacy OST / Daft Punk (Father and son at school, in Soul Eater; am I Death the Kid?)

  • Falling In Love: Don't Stop Believin' - Journey (Works fairly well, would have made a nice ending credits song. Thanks for not fucking me over, iPod!)

  • Fight Song: What's Left of the Flag - Flogging Molly (I am rage-filled and fighting to carry on the dreams of a fallen friend/brother/loved one.)

  • Breaking Up: Building the Barricade - Les Miserables (What the hell?! This aint gonna be pretty.)

  • Prom: Dancing With Tears In My Eyes - Ke$ha (I have a massive sense of self-loathing. Thanks a fucking lot, iPod.)

  • Life's OK: Something to Die for - Carolina Liar (Friend offers to stay with me through hell an- wait a sec... Metal Gear? Father and Son? Self-loathing? Could the friend be Otacon? AM I SOLID SNAKE?!)

  • Mental Breakdown: Hell's Bells - ACDC (Nope, not Snake. I'm Big Boss! Fuck!)

  • Driving: The Last Dance - Within Temptation (The Boss is watching over me while I drive. And sleep. Not at the same time.)

  • Flashback: The Barricade - Les Miserables (Recalling catching a spy while preparing for battle.)

  • Getting Back Together: All the Things She Said - t.A.T.u (Getting back with EVA.)

  • Wedding: Cloud Nine - Evanescence (Wedding? Hah! I'm Big Boss, I've been dreaming in a coma ever since the mental breakdown.)

  • Birth Of Child: Hero's Come Back - nobodyknows+ (Japanese tunes for the clonebabies! Well, Liquid and David are half-Japanese, and David is a hero who brings back the true interpretation of The Boss' will.)

  • Final Battle: The Final Battle - Les Miserables (Time for the final showdown with David at Zanzibarland!)

  • Death Scene: Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd (This is good... Isn't it?)

  • Funeral Song: Succession - Crisis Core OST (A beautiful and pensive song to reflect my life.)

  • End Credits: Here's to You - Metal Gear Solid 4 OST (I Am Not Making This Up Disclaimer)

1. My iPod thinks that I am a war junkie.
2. Next time, I am skipping any and all soundtracks.
3. Some words of advice: save often. I had this almost all typed up, went to edit a typo in a comment, and my laptop went back a page with no forward option, thus deleting everything I had typed.

Opening Credits: Girls Just Want To Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper (So I guess my life is an 80s movie.)

Waking Up: In My Life - The Beatles (Well, that's a nice way to wake up.)

First Day Of School: Fire - Ohio Players (Funky. So far, this has been a nice, light-hearted story.)

Falling In Love: Tubular Bells (from The Exorcist) - Mike Oldfield (Ah, a classic tale: boy meets girl, girl turns out to be possessed by a demon.)

Fight Song: I Think I'm Paranoid [Crystal Method Remix] - Garbage (Not sure what to make of this.)

Breaking Up: What's This? (from The Nightmare Before Christmas) - Danny Elfman (I guess I was too distracted by this crazy "Christmas" thing to commit to the relationship.)

Prom: Party In The CIA - "Weird Al" Yankovic (I was hoping to get some action at the prom, but I didn't mean secret agents trying to kill terrorists.)

Life's OK: Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles (So I started taking acid to help me cope with the trauma of an incredibly violent prom? I don't know.)

Mental Breakdown: Respect The Wind (from Twister) - Van Halen (Nothing cures a mental patient like endless guitar solos.)

Driving: Christmas/Sarajevo 12/24 - Trans-Siberian Orchestra (Apparently, I couldn't leave Christmas well enough alone.)

Flashback: In Your Room - The Bangles (Hey, remember The '80s? Now you do.)

Getting Back Together: Falling Away With You - Muse (Maybe the music supervisor was trying to be ironic for this scene?)

Wedding: Senorita - Justin Timberlake (Seems appropriate enough.)

Birth Of Child: From The Inside - Linkin Park (Yes, from the womb, to be precise.)

Final Battle: God Put A Smile Upon Your Face - Coldplay (Evidently, my prom was more exciting than this supposedly climactic battle.)

Death Scene: A Storm Is Coming (from TheLordOfTheRings: The Return Of The King) - Howard Shore (Wow, no subtlety at all.)

Funeral Song: I Lost On Jeopardy! - "Weird Al" Yankovic (This is what I get for losing on a game show? Disproportionate Retribution, anyone?)

End Credits: Welcome To My Party - Rusted Root (This must have been an indie movie.)

First Day of School: "Master Plan"-Split Enz (Great, now I'm being schooled to be an evil genius)

Falling In Love: "Heaven That I'm Making"-Crowded House (So I fall in love to a song vaguely about death.)

Prom: "Leather Pants"-Marik Ishtar feat. Florence Bakura (Definitely appropriate.)

Getting Back Together: "Heroes"-David Bowie (Wait...does this mean I get together with my hero, Jenna Coleman? YES!)

Wedding: "Into Temptation (Live)"-Neil Finn and Paul Kelly (Hang on, this is a wedding, and the song is about infidelity. Make your own conclusions)

Birth of Child: "Slippery People"-Talking Heads (My life's music keeps getting less context appropriate)

Final Battle: "The Night Before Larry Got Stretched"-Elvis Costello (Great, I die by getting hanged.)

Death Scene: "From Little Things, Big Things Grow"-Paul Kelly (What does the struggle for indigenous land rights have to do with my death?)

Funeral Song: "Down On the Corner"-Johnny Marr (Great, a break-up song for my funeral.)

End Credits: "In The Flesh?"-Pink Floyd (Here we go again...)

#162: Feb 21st 2014 at 2:41:45 AM

  • Opening Credits: “Without Any Further Ado” by Pepper’s Ghost (ah, great song, but sadly can’t be found anywhere…here’s another song by the band from the same album, should give you a general idea what it sounds like!)

  • Waking Up: “Are You Lonesome Tonight” by Al Jolson (seems like this should be later in the movie…)

  • First Day Of School: “Spiderwebs” by No Doubt (this is why you don’t use your phone in class)

  • Falling In Love: “Show Me Love” by Robin S. (title’s not as appropriate as you might expect—it’s an early ‘90s club song)

  • Fight Song: “Please Mr. Lostman” by the pillows (See, the pillows have some songs that work for a scene like this—after all, they did form the basis of the FLCL soundtrack—but this is one of their far more mellow songs…)

  • Breaking Up: “Cygnet Committee” by David Bowie (I clearly took this breakup very hard.)

  • Prom: “Big Thunder” by the Surf Coasters (it’s a retro-themed prom)

  • Life's OK: “Teknopathetic” by Hideki Naganuma (“Life’s OK” is now a spy-esque action scene)

  • Mental Breakdown: “Dancing in the Moonlight” by King Harvest (y’know what, I like the dissonance of having such a smooth, calming song here)

  • Driving: “Do You Know What You Want” by M2M (I always listen to Swedish girly pop groups while driving)

  • Flashback: “Heart of Stone” by The Rolling Stones (eh, it works)

  • Getting Back Together: “Use Somebody” by Kings Of Leon (bahahaha, this is actually an amazing matchup)

  • Wedding: “Money Changes Everything” by The Brains (the marriage is not destined to last, I see)

  • Birth Of Child: “She's Just Like Me / Taking Time” by The Apples In Stereo (awwww, this baby’s gonna grow up with an inferiority complex and daddy issues)

  • Final Battle: “Easter Oratorio (Kommt, eilet und laufet, ihr flüchtigen Füße), BWV 249: iii. Duet (Tenor, Bass) and Chorus: Kommt, eilet und laufe” performed by Kurt Equiluz, Walter Berry, Akademie Choir, Vienna Chamber Orchestra & Felix Prohaska (and at the end, the villain goes, “I’LL BE BACH”)

  • Death Scene: “Some Girls are Bigger Than Others” by The Smiths (*spits drink out onto screen*)

  • Funeral Song: “The Gambler” by fun. (This actually kinda sounds like it could be a funeral song, aside from the lyrics about still being alive and the love story in there and the “when I grow up” stuff and you know what, maybe this doesn’t quite work as well as I thought)

  • End Credits: “La Bamba” by Los Lobos (just another credits song from East L.A.)

  • The Stinger: “Hush” by Deep Purple (na-nananah)

Fight Song: Pearl Jam - Brain of J. (Nice and punky)

Breaking Up: Franz Ferdinand - What You Meant (This is kinda-sorta a break up song, so alright)

Mental Breakdown: Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication (I hoped for something crazier, but it's atmospheric enough)

Getting Back Together: The Black Keys - Weigth Of Love (If my relationship is half as good as that solo...)

Wedding: The Gaslight Anthem - Halloween (It's quite beautiful, so it'll work)

Birth Of Child: Metronomy - The Bay (A nice blend of levity and melancholy)

probably won't know most of these songs since my culled playlist of stuff I've already listened to and know and like listening to screwed up. Thanks Amazon, you really know how to not screw up your apps when they were already working fine.

  • Opening Credits: “The Village Green Preservation Society" by The Kinks (actually kinda works for this purpose; God save Donald Duck)

  • Waking Up: "Shroobs' Castle" by Yoko Shimomura from Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (what a terrifying morning)

  • First Day Of School: “Catch Me Daddy [Live]" by Big Brother & the Holding Company (to be fair, going back to school can give you the blues)

  • Falling In Love: “All I Want for Christmas is You" by Vince Vance And The Valiants (I never quite realized how alliterative this band's name is; also I guess the song's music kinda works for this—very '50s diner-y)

  • Fight Song: “How We Do It" by LIGHTS (oh look inhopelessguy decided to soundtrack this scene)

  • Breaking Up: “Top Man Stage (PS Version)" from Mega Man 3 (uh so do I like need to fight my evil exes now or)

  • Prom: a live version of "Live and Let Die" by Paul McCartney (this is off his Good Evening New York City live album and I'm realizing now, it sounds like there's a lot of trickery on the vocals here...that's disappointing sad)

  • Life's OK: “Woman" by Peter And Gordon (not sure a love song after what's apparently happened in this movie is the most appropriate, but hey, I like the song anyway even if it's not exactly one of Lennon/McCartney's best compositions)

  • Mental Breakdown: “These Days (Live @ University Of London Union, Feb 8, 1980)" by Joy Division (never listened to this version before; geez, for an official release, this is sub-bootleg quality recording; anyway, I can see a Joy Division song in general working for a mental breakdown scene)

  • Driving: “ Southbound 280" by Mike Park (pfff, it works even better since it's about driving somewhere, or at least the first verse is)

  • Flashback: “Dirty Work" by Steely Dan (apparently a flashback to being cheated on or being used by someone who's cheating on someone)

  • Getting Back Together: “ Heart and Soul" by the Cleftones (sure, generic doo-wop love song for getting back together, why not)

  • Wedding: “Rael 2" by The Who (sort of works with the intro, but what a foreboding wedding scene this would be)

  • Birth Of Child: “A Singer Must Die" by Leonard Cohen (what a depressing baby, we should return it to the baby store)

  • Final Battle: “Dream a Little Dream of Me" by Nat King Cole (I feel like whoever curated this soundtrack just threw songs into the scenes at random. ...oh, wait)

  • Death Scene: “A-G-L-E-T" from Phineas and Ferb (HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA)

  • Funeral Song: “ Evidence" by Jimmy Eat World (I guess this works if we're going with the whole cheating angle, sure as hell ain't a somber funeral though)

  • End Credits: “ Amoeba Boys" from the Powderpuff Girls album The City of Soundsville (if there was any way to discourage your audience from staying through the credits...seriously, though, this album is a huge disappointment)

  • The Stinger: “School Spirit" by Kanye West, seemingly an edited version which I didn't think I had (even as a college graduate, this song still speaks to me)
