To-do list:
- Anything That Moves was merged into Extreme Omnisexual, so the following need to be done:
- Move on-page examples that fit Extreme Omnisexual to that trope. Some examples may fit another page on the Anything That Moves disambiguation page instead. On-page examples have been moved to Sandbox.Anything That Moves to keep track of on-page example cleanup.
- Move wicks that fit Extreme Omnisexual to that trope. Some examples may fit another page on the Anything That Moves disambiguation page instead.
- If the description of Extreme Omnisexual needs to be rewritten due to the merge, Sandbox.Extreme Omnisexual was created for that purpose.
Anything That Moves is supposed to be for characters who have very broad sexual standards; they'll sleep with anyone, male or female, but not to the extent of literally "anything that moves". Unsurprisingly, tropers fail to understand that the title is hyperbole, and misuse it for Extreme Omnisexual. Other times it's used as a synonym for Really Gets Around when the character is heterosexual. According to the wick check of 51 examples, 24 (about half) take the title literally, only 7 are correct, and 20 are other misuse. Propose a rename.
Wick check:
51/51- Bernice Summerfield
- Anything That Moves: No. Really. ANYTHING.

- Darkstalkers
- Anything That Moves: She has the same suggestive win quotes against male, female and other characters. Downplayed in later titles, where she notes that machines 'aren't her thing', and expresses a desire specifically for 'men'.
- Deadpool: Wade Wilson
- Anything That Moves: While he’s definitely attracted to women, Wade’s list of love interests is vast and quite unusual - from vampire queens to shapeshifters, to aliens both humanoid and the exact opposite, even up to and including the embodiment of Death itself. According to Word of God, Deadpool’s constantly-changing brain chemistry means his sexual preferences can change on the fly, and by this definition, he’s been confirmed as pan/omnisexual.
- Death Crusades
- Anything That Moves: If a tree had a skirt on Rodbert would flirt with it.
- Earth Twenty Seven Fables
- Anything That Moves: Fittingly she's Omnisexual.
- Earth Twenty Seven Greek Pantheon

- Insectoid Aliens
- In Spacetrawler, the first alien female Dimitri scores with is a green insectoid. Unfortunately, Shuar turns out to be a Clingy Jealous Girl... and a hitwoman for the GOB. She alternates between pursuing him for the former and latter reasons for most of the comic. Meanwhile, her mother convinces Dimitri to license his grandmother's cookie recipe through her, and becomes wealthy when Russian tea cookies become popular throughout the galaxy.
- Bob's Burgers - Tina Belcher
- Extreme Omnisexual: Although she doesn't actually do anything sexual (she's only 13, after all), Tina is attracted to anyone and anything that moves (and a few things that don't), whether they're boys, zombies, geese, anthropomorphic animals from a children's magazine, disembodied voices from a tape recording, a mannequin, or even the words "bumper-to-bumper", and has written sexually-explicit fanfiction on everything from Twilight to The Simpsons to Sesame Street of all things. Worth noting, though, is that even regarding all of the above, she seems exclusively into men.
- Grand Theft Auto V - Friends, Family, and Associates
- Anything That Moves: Franklin notes this with equal amounts of amusement and condemnation. One of Lamar's LifeInvader posts says he fucked a cat. Truth in Television, for the record; unneutered male dogs will hump damn near anything.
- Grand Theft Auto V – Trevor Philips:
- Anything That Moves: Not only does he frequently make sexual passes at people (regardless of gender), but he even carves holes into Floyd's teddy bear so he can have sex with it. Sometimes, should the player jump to Trevor, he can be seen getting out of bed with Floyd, who is curled into a fetal position and crying. The teddy bear might be more of a one-time gag than anything, however
- If he gets a double dance at the Vanilla Unicorn, he'll comment "If only we had another guy join us. That would be a real party."
- The Law of Purple
- Anything That Moves: Morgan. His sexuality, on a profile the artist whipped up, is described as "Does it move, and can it consent?".
- Tsunami Channel
- Anything That Moves: Konstantin. Just... Konstantin. The only kind of being he doesn't touch is cat girls. Guess which is the only being who is attracted to him.
- Defenders of the Earth
- Anything That Moves: In "Flash Times Four", Flash is captured and has facets of his personality transplanted into four clones. The romantic one flirts with everything that moves, including Flash himself.
- All Hail King Julien
- Julien disguises himself as a fossa and is rather thrilled when one falls in love with him and proposes, even when Julien himself isn't really sure what gender the other one is. Seems like a one-time event, but it looks like it fits
Julien: I'm going to be a bride! Or a groom, what- either works! Fossa I do!
- Julien disguises himself as a fossa and is rather thrilled when one falls in love with him and proposes, even when Julien himself isn't really sure what gender the other one is. Seems like a one-time event, but it looks like it fits
- King Star King
- Anything That Moves: Pretty much every single character will gladly have sex with anyone and anything.
- Pepé Le Pew
- Anything That Moves: So long as it's black and white striped (and even when it's not), such is the case in a lot of the modern revival Looney Tunes media, such as the DC Comics and The Looney Tunes Show (in which Pepé goes after human women). Past Perfumance (from 1956) is probably the only Golden Age Pepé cartoon that showed that he will still go after a cat, even after learning that she was never a skunk to start with. And in Scent-imental Over You, for no real reason, he actually is willing to disguise himself as a dog to return a Chihuahua's affections. "I am stupid, no?"
- The Dating Guy
- Anything That Moves: While, for the most part, the group dates and does normal people, sometimes things can get... bizarre. At one point, Mark comments being turned on by a pack of wolves.

- Desperate Housewives - Other Characters

- Everybody Hates Chris S 2 E 1 Everybody Hates Rejection
- Anything That Moves: According to Drew, Yvette has extremely low standards and will date just about anybody. It makes sense, considering her true nature.
- Cheers S 9 E 4
- Anything That Moves: As a side-effect of the heat, Carla's sexual drives get ramped up to insane levels, and she becomes attracted to anything male. Including Cliff. Just says male, but seems to otherwise fit
- Alexander Otsuka
- Anything That Moves: Otoko Sakari performs sexual advances towards any opponent, male or female.
- Peeking Through The Fourth Wall After Dark 3

- Black Mirror: USS Callister
- Really Gets Around: Around the office, he's considered a notorious playboy.
- Coco:
- Dramatically Missing the Point: Ernesto de la Cruz missed the point of Héctor's songs. He sings "Remember Me" as a frivolous romance song rather than a tender lullaby, and understands "The World Is Mi Familia" as an endorsement of career success over settling down and forming a family, rather than the other way around.
- Sit Down, Shut Up
- Anything That Moves: Ennis isn't exactly picky when it comes to women. During the hurricane episode, he says he's going to "go trolling for grandmas".
- Family Guy S 9 E 9 And Im Joyce Kinney
- A deleted scene shows Quagmire angrily calling Lois "trash". Yes, the same Quagmire who has a Stalker Shrine of Lois in his closet, tried to have sex with her when Peter had amnesia, and is a confirmed rapist, calling Lois "trash". He is heterosexual
- The Dudley Boys
- Anything That Moves: The backstory explanation for why the Dudleys look nothing alike is that Big Daddy Dudley was a traveling salesman who really got around and as a result sired alot of children
- Dragon Age – Races:
- Anything That Moves: Many Antivans depicted in the series seem to embrace this philosophy.
- Earth Twenty Seven Non Canon Characters
- Anything That Moves: Apex is driven by survival instincts and the need to mate is particularly strong in him, as it is in his father. If unable to fulfill this drive, Apex can become easily agitated and irrational. Also, every so often (varies due to a number of circumstances) Apex will be driven by a painful urge to procreate. As he is still too young to impregnate or become pregnant himself, it is likely these urges happen several times a year as is the case with most young Czarnians. Once he reaches full maturation this drive will only occur once every decade or two.
- The Simpsons S18E19 "Crook and Ladder"
- Not-So-Innocent Whistle: Bart after he and Milhouse dress the sleepwalking Homer up as a woman and push him into Moe's, only for Moe to emerge with a lustful grin and put up the "Closed" sign.
- Semper Ad Meliora
- Anything That Moves: Victor practically says this word for word in regards to Charles, wondering if his brother is physically capable of resisting bedding beautiful females. Only applies to beautiful women, which is not this trope at all
- Destructive Harmonics
- Lipstick Lesbian: With occasional forays into Anything That Moves, although she prefers women for the most part.
- Fujisaki Kou
- Anything That Moves: More than one character has called him on being sex-obsessed.
- Flipside
- Anything That Moves: She deconstructs this trope; she starts out the series an unabashed hedonist but gets less and less willing to take sexual risks as the consequences of her actions threaten her relationship with Bernadette.
- Harry And The Shipgirls Japan
- Anything That Moves: Just like her daughters Colombe and Jacklyn, had quite an appetite for romantic conquests. This included siring three children on three separate women and Benjamin Franklin, among many others.
- Grand Theft Auto IV - Other Characters
- Parental Issues: Carmen mentions that her dad regularly berates her for her lifestyle.
- King Falls AM
- Chet Sebastian, the smooth-talking and lecherous host of Chet Sebastian's Jazz Corner (which plays on the same station), will occasionally sub in for Ben or Sammy if one of them is out of the studio. He consistently hangs up on phone calls from anyone who doesn't sound young and attractive. Yet, in Episode 27, he uses his lechery to weaponize I Banged Your Mom to imply all sorts of horrible things about Pete Myer's mother so that he'll give up details about Ben's location.
- King of the Hill
- Anything That Moves: Donna is revealed to be this in "Lost in MySpace".
- Titan Maximum
- Anything That Moves: Sasha lives this. So much so that she actually defends Jodi's right to sleep with Gibbs because of it.
- The Iron Sheik
- Anything That Moves: What the Sheik does just after breaking your back and before making you humble.
- Triple H
- Anything That Moves/Depraved Bisexual: Oh boy, if his history with HBK was anything. In the original DX, this was a pretty important part of his character. The biggest example was his immortal response when asked if he spoke Spanish like Chyna:
Jim Ross: Didn't know you were bilingual.
Triple H: I'm bi a lot of things, but lingual isn't one of them. Wait, did I mean to say that?
Jim Ross: Probably not, but we're live.

Paging ~nw09. Anyway, the current name is based on a Stock Phrase (based on part of it and not all of it), so I'm not opposed to a rename.
Edit: Extraordinarily Broad Sexual Standards already exists as a redirect, so there's a starting point in terms of potential new names.
Edit: See my next post.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Maybe Broad Sexual Standards if we want something shorter.
Personally, I am leaning on merging with Extreme Omnisexual under a new name (if needed) and broadening because I think they are similar enough to be merged without issue and I am not sure if a rename is going to fix the confusion.
Edited by MacronNotes on Mar 5th 2023 at 2:41:32 PM
Macron's notesThe name Anything That Moves sounds more like Extreme Omnisexual than Extraordinarily Broad Sexual Standards; so I suggest making the name Anything That Moves to a redirect to Extreme Omnisexual no matter what we do with the current page.

So, I know this thread is about the trope's name, but one thing that has bugged me about this trope for a while now is that it's definition is broad enough that it encompasses "horndogs who are willing to venture outside of their sexual preferences if it means they can get their rocks off" and people who explicitly identify as bi/pansexual (several on page examples are just identifying that a character is bi/pan for example). And I don't think those two things are actually the same in terms of characterization, considering that "character is bi/pan" isn't a trope.
The discussion page shows that this murkiness regarding if we're talking about genuine sexual orientation or just sex-crazed characters has been a confusing aspect of the trope for some time [1].
I feel like it needs more than just a rename to clarify this.

Anything That Moves sounds like it's basically a more restrictive version of Extreme Omnisexual, so I agree with Macron on merging them. The broader scope also avoids this just being seen as a "charater is bi/pan" trope.
Yeah, I don't think bi/pan characters should count. The title implies omnisexuality (being willing to sleep with humans, robots, furries, and more) not just "Bob likes people of all genders".
I honestly think lumping "will sleep with anyone because they're excessively horny" and "character has a sexual orientation" together is offensive and nonsensical anyway. Like, that isn't how bisexuality and pansexuality work, and we already have Depraved Bisexual anyway. I mean, most characters who fit the "will sleep with anyone" trait are probably bi or pan anyway, but simply being bi or pan shouldn't be an automatic qualifier.

Current Project: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMy instinct is to disambiguate between Extreme Omnisexual (characters who'll sleep with anything) and Really Gets Around (characters who get it a lot — don't think it's limited to hetero characters anyway). I know RGA speaks more to the character's attractiveness/sexual prowess than low standards, but that distinction doesn't seem to show up in examples.
Good idea.
I like "Broad Sexual Standards" if this gets renamed.
Honestly, yeah, changing my vote to that. I took another look at the wick check and saw that the examples that were labeled correct are still not in good shape (they seem a bit lacking in detail to me, and they're very brief), so I don't see much to work with if we rename, so disambiguating sounds like a good idea with that in mind.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Disambiguating sounds fine to me.
Macron's notesI'd honestly prefer a merge with Extreme Omnisexual over a disambig since EO is just The Same, but More of Anything That Moves anyways, but I'd be fine with both options.
Could also add Situational Sexuality to a possible disambig, with the situation in this trope being "I am horny"
Edited by amathieu13 on Mar 5th 2023 at 10:48:38 AM
Prefer merge, fine with disambig.
Vehicle-Based Characterization | Grief-Induced Split | Locker MailDisambiguate between Extreme Omnisexual and Really Gets Around (though honestly I'd love for Extreme Omnisexual to be renamed Anything That Moves if people are already confusing it with that trope. Anything That Moves is a name that sticks in the mind better)
Oissu!Disambig with Extreme Omnisexual and Really Gets Around.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupI'm fine with either the merge or Disambig option.
Part of the reason why Anything That Moves sounds like Extreme Omnisexual is because it's called Anything That Moves, not Anyone Who Moves, suggesting sexual lust for nonhumans.
Edited by Snicka on Mar 6th 2023 at 2:13:45 PM
The wording that was used was used because the saying that someone promiscuous will have sex with anything that moves is a preexisting phrase and not something the site came up. I don't know if the "anyone who moves" phrasing is ever used.
Edited by GastonRabbit on Mar 6th 2023 at 8:42:09 AM
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Probably not. I guess the phrase is an exaggeration. I vote for Disambiguation then: Really Gets Around for a sexually promiscuous person, and Extreme Omnisexual for someone who'll have sex with literally anything that moves.
Merge, but I prefer the name Anything That Moves to be kept.
Yeah, I don't see what use having all three of them is. Near as I can tell, we've got Anything That Moves, Anything That Moves of a Single Sex (Really Gets Around), and Anything That Moves but for Speculative Fiction (Extreme Omnisexual).
Really Gets Around is not necessarily limited to a single sex though; there are bisexual / pansexual characters included in that trope too. It just indicates that the character is extremely promiscuous.
Then that further points Anything That Moves being redundant with other tropes.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Note: currently Really Gets Around lists Anything That Moves as a subtrope (indicating Anything That Moves is Really Gets Around to show that the character has low standards / is immoral).
Crown Description:
The previous crowner has decided to merge Extreme Omnisexual and Anything That Moves. What should the new name be? As stated on the aforementioned crowner, both EO and ATM will be crowner options in this Alt titles crowner.
