Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

On YMMV.The Last Jedi:

Several media outlets (Vanity Fair, Den of Geeks, Buzzfeed, Yahoo and the Los Angeles Times) have interpreted the conflict between Poe Dameron and Admiral Holdo as a pro-feminist story that condemns male chauvinism and "toxic masculinity". Rian Johnson's Flip-Flop of God regarding the topic adds to this sentiment. However, not everyone agrees and the issue is best discussed elsewhere.

On WebVideo. You Can Play This, can the Reddit link in the paragraph “allegations of sexual misconduct and sexual crimes arose“ be zapped? I don’t see any reason to keep this since we aren’t about cataloging drama.

Also, the paragraph “Tragically, however, on January 23, 2014, Justin committed suicide. He shall be missed by family, friends, and fans alike.“ should be in past tense. It’s almost six years since his death now.

Is the page Brother–Sister Incest still have sense being locked, since all the examples are now in subpages that aren't locked?

Anyway, if you don't unlock it yet, I have created a sandbox with the changes I wanted to do, mostly bringing back the contents that are just too small to warrant a subpage.

So, please replace the content of Brother–Sister Incest with Sandbox.Brother Sister Incest

I'll do the clean-up afterward. Thanks in advance.

Huh, I disagree with that.

Anyway, new quote for Literature at Complete Monster:

"He is a great hunter, and women are his favourite prey. He strips them naked and sets them loose in the woods[...] When Ramsay catches them he rapes them, flays them, feeds their corpses to his dogs, and brings their skins back to the Dreadfort as trophies. If they have given him good sport, he slits their throats before he skins them. Elsewise, t'other way round."
Wyman Manderly on Ramsay Snow/Bolton, A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire)

EDIT: Two more: first to Anime and Manga; second to Visual Novels

"[Susamaru] was fooled into believing she was one of the Twelve Kizuki and forced to fight... and then Kibutsuji's curse killed her. There was no hope for her. After dying, even her bones disappeared without a trace. Is that the price for taking human life? Kibutsuji... he mistreats even those who admire him. He is undeniably... a true demon."
Tanjiro Kamado on Muzan Kibutsuji, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Chapter 19 "Together Forever"

"Sakuma was a monster who gained the power of mind control and enjoyed it to the fullest. He only played at being a good doctor. Sakuma once saw me using packing tapes to treat an injury and laughed. 'Not bad,' he said. I didn't know what he meant. Do you remember the second murder? When Takayanagi, the street musician, was killed? Her stomach was cut open and a speaker was put inside. She was mind-controlled into using packing tape to stop the bleeding. When I saw him make her use her packing tape, I asked him why he was making her do that. And this is what he said. 'She's just like you, right? A doll. Isn't that funny?'... He's not normal. They talk about people who get pleasure from killing, but he's not even that. All he cares about is whether or not he finds something entertaining... and it doesn't have to be murder."

Here’s something I want to add to Square Peg, Round Trope

  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech is when a character tears into another character in-universe about their flaws. However, it has been mis-used to list internet reviewers ranting about a character, work, company or even list drama channels ranting about another person online.

Here’s a pet peeve of mine that happens in this entry on the page:

  • Amazingly enough, the word Trope itself has undergone severe Trope Decay on this site. A trope is something that's objectively a part of the work. Audience Reactions and Trivia are specifically stated on these pages to not be tropes, since they occur either in the work's audience or other external materials, not the work itself. Despite this, it's hard to find a page for an Audience Reaction or Trivia item that DOESN'T refer to itself as a Trope, and the YMMV and Trivia subpages for most works contain examples that say "This trope happens" or something similar. Even this very page, supposedly dedicated to correcting misused terminology, contains examples describing Audience Reactions and Trivia as "tropes"! And Playing with a Trope is something that can only be done to actual Tropes since Audience Reactions are very rarely "played" in the first place, so most examples on a YMMV page that are "Subverted" or "Downplayed" are inherently misuse.

The bolded paragraph really bothers me because pointing out your own hypocrisy doesn't make it okay to just let the problem with the page stay. What I would do is remove every instance of Trivia or YMMV being referred to as a trope on this page, so it isn’t misusing the definition of “trope” like everyone else on this site is using, and being an example to follow, not be the bad influence it disowns.

I want to propose another short paragraph for the TLP Guidelines, since I noticed a discrete number of old proposals for the Administrivia template:

Don't use the TLP to propose new Administrivia pages. If you believe there is the need of another one, ask the mods, or take it to the Wiki Talk.
It could be added right after the paragraph about proposing redirects:

"If you want to create a new redirect, don't use the TLP. In fact, this is a major cause of Trope Launch Pad duplicates of existing tropes. For redirects, follow instead the instructions here. "

Move VideoGame.Cute Knight to VideoGame.Cute Knight 1 to preserve history?

And replace with this?

    Cute Knight Series page
''Cute Knight'' is a game series that's mainly a RaisingSim, with a bit of DatingSim, and WesternRPG by Creator/HanakoGames, where the player roleplays as a girl who just turned 18, and has 3 years to make something of herself, with those choices leading to one of MultipleEndings, with some of them being romance-based endings, which is why it's a bit of a DatingSim.

The WesternRPG sections come in beause there's some CharacterCustomization, like a HelloInsertNameHere with CharacterNameLimits, a {{Cap}} of 8 characters. HitPoints, ManaPoints, combat, and so on.

The entries in the series are:
* ''VideoGame/CuteKnight1'' (2005, UpdatedReRelease, 2009)
* ''VideoGame/CuteKnightKingdom'' (2009)
----
!!Tropes present within the ''Cute Knight'' series in general:

* CharacterNameLimits: The protagonist's name is limited to being 8 characters long.
* ElementalPowers: The foundation of the magic system, all spells being various combinations of the 8 elements of: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Nature, Emotion, Light and Darkness.
* FamilyThemeNaming: Different in each game:
** In the first game: The magic instructor's family has FloralThemeNaming. The instructor herself, is named Orchid, and her daughter's name is Rose.
** In ''Cute Knight Kingdom'', it happens multiple times:
*** The "Prime Minister" ending mentions that Prince Alaric will marry a Princess Michiko, whom WordOfGod has [[http://hanakoforum.nfshost.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=639 revealed]] is the daughter of the [[VideoGame/CuteKnight1 previous game]]'s protagonist who shares her mother's name.
*** The innkeeper John, whose father and grandfather were also named John. If the protagonist marries him, they end up having a daughter whom they name Johanna.
* FlavorText: For both games, Party Dress's is:
--> For dressing up and looking nice; not for fighting.
* ItemCrafting: Differs a bit per game:
** In the first game, items are created from other items at the University after taking one course on Crafting, and can only fail if the combination of items would've resulted in something.
** In ''Cute Knight Kingdom'', items are crafted at the protagonist's home, and will fail, resulting in the loss of items, if the protagonist's Crafting skill is too low, or the combination of items does not have a result.
* MultipleEndings: Each game has them: ** The first game has over 50 endings. ** ''Cute Knight Kingdom'' has about 40 endings. [=* RandomEvent: After jobs, sometimes, certain events will happen, usually the boss talking to the protagonist about something.
* SaveGameLimits: A lot of saves are possible in each game:
** In the first game. there is effectively an infinite number of saves, being only limited by the player's character set and hard disk space. They can be made, anywhere at any time, even partway through dialogue and jobs, except during initial character creation of birth month selection, the opening cutscene, in combat, and at the screen that displays the ending. If you try to save at an ending, the message is:
---> It's a bit late for that now!
** In ''Cute Knight Kingdom'', save names are restricted in-game to 15 characters or less, but if the player renames the files to have longer names, the game still accepts them, although, they will not display properly.

Could you recreate the redirect at Administrivia.Content Policy towards The Content Policy and the 5P Circuit? It says it was cut due to being unused, but I don't see why that would be an issue. Even if it wasn't linked to anywhere in the wiki, it was still useful in the forums, ATT, private messages, etc.

If I want to refer someone to the content policy, it would be a lot easier to have that two-word redirect than to type "Administrivia/{{The Content Policy|andthe5pcircuit}}".

At Criminal Minds, for Wyland, please change "of children" to "of boys"

Some rewrites for that page too (please also remove all spoilers and add !All spoilers are unmarked. You Have Been Warned!):

  • Lucy, from the season finale "Supply and Demand", is the psychologically sadistic head of a Human Trafficking ring. She and her gang target stressed-out college students, with Lucy herself scouting the victims. She and her gang then kidnap the young men and women and pimp them out to various sexual deviants, staging live shows in which the victims are raped, tortured, and even killed, by her men and/or clients. At least once, she pretended to be a victim, gaining the trust of undercover agent Renee Matlin, before revealing herself as the leader of the ring. When Lucy discovers that Matlin is an undercover cop, Lucy proceeds to play a game of Russian Roulette with her, then has her savagely beaten, gloating the whole time. Interrupted by the police, Lucy manipulates Max, one of her associates, into being killed by them, planning to frame him for her crimes. She then pretends to be a victim, and when found out, tries to shoot Rossi, but is fatally shot by Morgan first.
  • Ben "Cy" Bradstone, from "Proof", is a mentally handicapped man who uses Obfuscating Stupidity to lure women out of the public eye and into his shed where he rapes them and then stabs them to death. He first stabbed their eyes out, but later evolved to using sulfuric acid to burn away their senses, choosing the sense depending on how they react to him. He targets women who remind him of his sister-in-law, whom he attempted to molest when they were both teenagers. When his niece puts on the same homecoming dress her mother—said sister-in-law—wore, Cy kidnaps her and burns her hands. After his arrest, his brother Matt, demanding to know why Cy did this, who tells him that he has always hated Matt and was planning to deafen and then kill him one day.
  • Clark Preston, from "A Thin Line", is a greedy, crooked real estate developer and one of the show's most infamous proxy killers. He hired criminals to commit crimes in neighborhoods so people would leave and he could buy up their property at a much lower price, with him not even caring about who gets hurt in the process. During one of these raids, the Mills family had the father and daughter killed and the mother raped and beaten, leaving her in a coma. He later manipulates and recruits the survivor of the family, Trevor, into his mayoral campaign by brainwashing him with racist ideology—which he doesn't even care about but uses it to try to get elected—and using him to help with his mayoral campaign. At Preston's behest, Trevor would launch home invasions and kill entire families of people, including young children and even a baby in one case, and then kill drugged black and Hispanic people with the family's gun and pin it on them in the hopes of supporting his plans.
  • Alex Zorgen runs a Human Trafficking ring that has sold dozens of victims, mostly women, regardless of age, to serial killers and other criminals online, with said criminals killing them. In 1993, prior to creating this ring, he abducted a woman named Donna Mangold, repeatedly raping and torturing her for the next 22 years, with one of those rapes resulting in a son named Kyle. As the season progresses, Alex has Kyle stalk the BAU's newest member, Kate Callahan, by posing as an attractive high school senior online to gain their trust of her niece Meg, and her friend, who are both 14 years old. He sends Kyle and Donna and Kyle to kidnap them in the season finale "The Hunt", but Kyle only catches Meg, which results in Alex killing Kyle without any remorse, before selling Meg. When the BAU later arrests him and ask him where Meg's captor is keeping her, he refuses to cooperate and just taunts Kate about the things her captor is going to do to her.

I'd like to make some edits to Anatomically Impossible Sex, of all things. Aside from adding some other hard facts that stories get wrong, my main issue is that the "a virgin always has their hymen" exaggeration example wasn't elaborated on (I couldn't even tell if it meant it was exaggerated or not), and misconceptions about the hymen are so common in fiction that I feel it needs a clear explanation (that hopefully won't make people want to puke, if that's the reason this wasn't done earlier).

My proposed edits (all under "Exaggerations", all easy to find as they're already right next to each other):

  • Excessive amounts of bodily fluid (a woman constantly gushing out at the bottom, not just people sweating): There's a limit to how much fluid the human body can produce before becoming dehydrated, which typically heralds the end of a love-making session in real life.
  • A virgin always bleeds: A very common and very old myth in real life, and thus it's no surprise that it turns up in many works of fiction as well, so prevalent that faking it is a trope in its own right. The reality is that some women's hymens bleed during sex and some don't, sometimes even if it's not the woman's first time, which is all totally normal.
  • All women are born with hymens, and a virgin will always still have theirs: This is one of the biggest misconceptions in all of erotic fanfiction. The hymen is not a piece of organic cling-wrap blocking the uterus. It is a thin layer of tissue inside the entrance to the vagina that is loosely donut-shaped like the rest of it, just happening to be susceptible to tearing and bleeding (which as stated above is not guaranteed), and being so close to the entrance means it can be torn by means other than love-making. Conventional sex and even pregnancy with an intact hymen is uncommon, but absolutely possible, so the state of the hymen is not a reliable indicator. And yes, it's rare-but-possible for a girl to be born without a hymen.

And here's a couple of things to add to the "Exaggerations" list:

  • The woman feeling hot in her belly after the man ejaculates: This experience is different for everyone. Some women feel it and like it, some hate it or don't feel it at all. Naturally this variance is ignored in fiction.
  • The vagina stretching to fit a huge penis: It's shocking but not dire to see the woman's abdomen visibly stretch a little from the girth (this is the same general area that grows to accommodate a baby, after all), but if the stretching from the dick alone approaches the realm of Balloon Belly, then it poses an immediate danger to the pelvis, leg joints, and internal organs.
  • By the same token, a vagina not visibly stretching to fit a huge penis: Unless the guy's poor manhood is getting painfully crushed, this is simply not physically possible and is equivalent to thinking the dick plunges into a Pocket Dimension.

EDIT: Page edit done by nombretomado. Many thanks!
