Opening.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt looks like it needs crosswicking and a rewritten description (and possibly an expanded definition to account for variants), plus cleanup of misuse. Maybe also rename it, since I didn't know what this trope was until after I clicked on this thread.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Yeah, that's not a good name. It sounds like an Eldritch Location or Non-Euclidean Alien Geometries.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Rename works. Also, yes, crosswicking was done improperly. I think this one can be salvaged.
I'd like to apologize for all this.I prefer One-Neighbor Neighborhood; it sounds better.

back lolAs a sidenote to all this, the page is currently kinda-sorta at the wrong spelling? But if it's getting moved anyway, there's no point in discussing that part further.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool. It's another way to write the German name Möbius.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germanic_umlaut#German_orthography
It's just more common to see the umlaut dropped entirely in English.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Personally, I was thinking of Only One Neighbor as a new name, but One-Neighbor Neighborhood is acceptable as well.
I'm back!Wait, that's what Moebius Neighbourhood means? I thought it referred to the situation in Pleasantville. Yeah, this trope was clearly named for the maths joke; rename with extreme prejudice.
Laundry Pizza beat me to it; Only One Neighbour would be my preference, but One Neighbour Neighbourhood also works.
Ukrainian Red CrossOne Neighbour Neighbourhood sound more like a setting in suburbia, which would fit with this trope, while Only One Neighbour sounds like a setting in the midle of nowhere.
So I would go with One Neighbour Neighbourhood.
Everything can be found on the Internet... except common sense. The current name is American English, so I'd guess the rename would be as well. One-Neighbor Neighborhood.
I had a dog-themed avatar before it was cool.Eh, there'd be a commonwealth redirect so it doesn't make a difference.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI will start drafting a new description, so I have two requests; a reminder to post my description if it isn't up by Nov 27 and someone to create a rename crowner. We should be able to get that two-step process done by December.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.~crazysamaritan, here's your November 27 bump...almost two weeks late.
We do have consensus to rename otherwise, though, right?
Well, then, let's make a crowner for that [1]. Any missing options?
I'm back! What do you mean by "all but one neighbor are portrayed inconsistently."? Do you mean they change personalities? They are replaced by different actors every time they appear? Also, what do you mean by "one neighbor is far more significant in the narrative than the others."? Something like The Truman Show, where we see his neighbours, but only his friend gets named?
Link to TRS threads in project mode here. How best to express how Tropes Are Flexible would apply to the expansion? Do I need a crowner for that?
I'm back!I'm not understanding the issue. Please read Sandbox.Moebius Neighborhood and tell me what problems you have with the proposed description.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.I'm okay with that. I'll just axe everything on the crowner except rename, because Tropes Are Flexible renders that unnecessary.
I'm back!Considering the trainwreck that happened last time, I'll just make a single-prop. [1].
I'm back!
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
According to the trope description, Moebius Neighborhood is for houses with only one neighbor, even if there are other adjacent houses. However, its actual usage is all over the place; common usages include cases where a house has multiple neighbors, but all but one of them is inconsistent (which can overlap with New Neighbors As The Plot Demands); cases where one neighbor is more important than the rest; and cases where a family doesn't know their neighbors.
Since there are more on-page examples (44 from 34 distinct works) than wicks (29), I'll look at the latter as well. In this wick and OPE check, "variant" means that it invokes an apparent Alien Geometry other than what's in the description.
So out of 29 wicks, including redirects, that's 6 correct, 3 variant, 0 Playing With, 2 mixing the preceding three, 1 misuse, 8 ZCEs, 2 sinkhole, and 7 not applicable. Of the 44 on-page examples, that's 15 correct, 9 variant, 7 Playing With, that 4 mixing the preceding three, 1 justified, 5 misuse, and 3 ZCEs. The large number of variant examples tips me off that the definition is too narrow.
