Pokémon: The Pirate Who Summons Trouble

Pokémon: The Pirate Who Summons Trouble is a Pokémon: The Series/My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! Crossover written by Joshua Mullins. When a band of pirates led by Silva Bastide appear and start raiding various ships on the high seas, it's up to Ash, Pikachu, Goh, Chloe and many of their friends and Pokémon to save the day! But is there more to this than meets the eye?

Tropes

  • Action Girl: Many of the female characters such as Chloe, Iris, Glacia and Bea take part in the adventure and smashing Silva's ship and his pirate crew.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Chloe being more proactive and willing to get her hands dirty makes her similar to her Blossomverse counterpart (though she keeps her regular personality unlike the vastly different Blossomverse version).
  • Adaptational Sexuality: Katarina has married Maria.
  • Ambiguous Situation: When the fic takes place in relation to Pokémon Journeys: The Series though the second Omake is set after the series ended.
  • Artistic License: Ash's Muk is able to use Corrosive Gas despite Muk not being in Pokémon Sword and Shield and Corrosive Gas currently only able to be called by Metronome in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This is due to Muk being exactly the kind of Pokémon that can learn Corrosive Gas.
  • Berserk Button: Kiawe is so angry at being attacked out of nowhere by Silva's gunners, that he's able to have his Turtonator, Alolan Marowak and Charizard use Inferno Overdrive together when normally only one Pokémon can use a Z-Move per battle.
  • Beyond the Impossible: The above mentioned three Z-moves at once.
  • Blade Lock: Oshawott uses his Razor Shell to get into one with Silva. Oshawott then sticks his Razor Shell under Silva's sword and flings Silva's sword upwards and allowing Unfezant to grab it. Silva is surprised by Oshawott being able to do this.
  • Big Bad: Silva Bastide, the one who's conducting the raid on the ships in the Pokémon world.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Silva doesn't last too long when Ash and his friends finally confront him
  • Big "WHAT?!": Katarina, Maria and Anne do one of these when Drew reveals that he and the others already caught Silva.
  • The Bus Came Back: Several characters such as Ephram, Casey and Morrison take part in the quest to stop Silva. Likewise, Iris has her Gible as part of her team after he didn't show up in Journeys outside of a flashback in ''Thrash of the Titans!"
  • The Cameo:
    • Rhonda appears at the start to report on the pirate attacks (in an earlier version, she was a generic reporter).
    • Officer Jenny appears near the end of Chapter 1, taking Silva and his goons to jail.
    • Geordo, Keith, Alan, Nicol, Mary and Sophia appear in the final chapter as Katarina, Maria and Anne told them about their little adventure, so they rigged up a portal to visit whenever they liked.
  • Canon Foreigner: Ash has an Alomomola, a Cubone, Drednaw, Hatterene, Marshtomp and Eiscue while Chloe has a Galarian Ponyta and Galarian Rapidash.
  • Combination Attack: Several examples such as Kiawe's Pokémon's three Inferno Overdrives and the combined Hyper Beam.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Ash mentally brings up Captain Crook and the Phantom as examples of Pirates and how Silva is acting like a traditional one as Captain Crook was a Pokémon Poacher and the Phantom wanted to become King of the Sea.
    • Oshawott's final move that he uses on Silva (Tackle) is the final move he successfully used on Cameron's Hydreigon in Cameron's Secret Weapon!.
  • Crossover: Between Pokémon: The Series and My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Silva certainly is, having his ships divided amongst scouts to find ships to raid and report back, gunners to stop the ships, his own gigantic ship to confront the crews and a ship to store the various treasures. He also carries several tools to help him cheat in fights and break him and his crew out if they get captured.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The battles against Silva's pirate crew and Silva himself go this way.
  • Death Glare: Ash and his friends give a collective one to Silva after Ash saves him from falling overboard, prompting him to finally surrender.
  • Didn't Think This Through:
    • Silva evidently didn't think about what happen if a crew fought back and also if someone got suspicious if he challenged them to a duel.
    • When Ash sets off after seeing the ship sail off by itself in Chapter 2, May tells him he still has to rest from helping destroy Silva's ship. Ash is rather disappointed.
  • Foreshadowing: Lenora posits the pirates may have come from another dimension. Chapter 2 reveals that's exactly the case with Lenora even saying "I knew it!".
  • Frickin' Laser Beams: Most of Ash and his friend's Pokémon use a combined multi-colored Hyper Beam (with May's Skitty and Munchlax using Mimic and Metronome for the attack as well) which utterly disintegrates Silva's ship!
  • Genki Girl: Katarina is very hyper and runs around at Professor Oak's Corral, forcing Ash and his Pokémon to pursue her and make sure she doesn't get hurt.
  • Generic Doomsday Villain: Silva and his pirates have no real goal beyond "Rob and loot every ship on the high seas". Justified as they're from the My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! universe. Silva didn't really have much motivation in the Pirates of the Disturbance game either.
  • Hair Flip: Mallow's Tsareena pulls one of these after Mallow congratulates the latter on beating the second gunner pirate.
  • Hidden Depths: The first Omake shows Chloe to be quite a skilled flute player.
  • Jumped at the Call: Oshawott is very eager to take on Silva during the confrontation.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Silva surrenders after getting beaten up by Ash and his friends.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": The gang's reaction to Silva's gunner ships shooting cannonballs at them and again when seeing Silva's utterly gargantuan ship.
  • Megaton Punch: Ash and his friend's Pokémon hit Silva with a combined Rock Smash, sending him flying through the railing of his ship. Ash grabs him by the wrists before he hits the water.
  • Nice Guy: Katarina, Maria and Anne are all perfectly nice to Ash and his friends.
  • Oh, Crap!: A lot such as Bonnie when Goh's Exeggutor shakes out Silva's stuff that he was planning on using to cheat and then break out his crew and Silva after Muk destroys his gear with Corrosive Gas.
  • Omake: Two of them: The first one is Chloe explaining the fic started life as Dora the Explorer: The Pirate Who Summons Trouble and then playing "We're Sailing To Treasure Island" and "Pirates Love to Sing" on a flute and then getting embarrassed when she sees Katarina, Maria and Anne sitting in the audience and clapping, not having expected anyone to have been watching. The second one takes place after the anime and has Katarina, Maria and Anne telling Ash, Pikachu, Goh and Chloe about My Next Life as a Villainess: The Pirate Known as Trouble being translated as My Next Life as a Villainess: Pirates of the Disturbance, much to the quartet's disbelief.
  • Pint Sized Power House: Oshawott deals the most damage to Silva during the battle against him.
  • Ramming Always Works:
    • Lana's Primarina uses Aqua Jet to knock out the first gunner pirate.
    • Oshawott's Tackle is strong enough to send Silva all the way to the railing of his ship.
  • Revenge: Brandon brings this up after Silva's scouts are captured. The flying cannonballs shortly after that prove him right.
  • Shout-Out: Katarina racing around at Professor Oak's Corral and Ash and his Pokémon chasing her is based off of The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers from The Tigger Movie complete with an instrumental of the song playing and sequences including Palpitoad bouncing on his head across a log and Dragonite using her tail to catapult herself off a tree along with Pikachu hopping across a lake.
  • Status Effects: Silva is poisoned by Palpitoad's Sludge Wave and is cured after Ash gives him a Pecha Berry.
  • Take That!: In the second Omake, Ash, Pikachu, Goh and Chloe are in complete disbelief that My Next Life as a Villainess: The Pirate Known as Trouble was translated as My Next Life as a Villainess: Pirates of the Disturbance
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Just like in her final appearance in the anime, Rhonda is able to deliver a news report without Jack accidentally dropping the boom mike on her head. Justified as it was just a regular reporter when the fic was first written and was later changed to Rhonda.
  • Victor Gains Loser's Powers: A variation, after each ship, except Silva's is beaten, Ash pushes a button on the quarterdeck of the gang's ship which shoots out a beam that assimilates the ship onto the gang's own.
  • Wham Shot: In Chapter 2, the doors on the ship opening to reveal Katarina, Maria and Anne, revealing the fanfic's status as a crossover.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Rebellion Sequel

A Transformers, Pokémon: The Series, Ben 10 and Puella Magi Madoka Magica fanfic written by First Aid Rules. When Wheeljack receives blueprints for part of a curved entryway, he, Optimus Prime, First Aid and Rhinox set off to figure out what's going on. Arriving at a junkyard, they meet up with Ash Ketchum, Pikachu, Hawlucha, Talonflame, Noivern, Clemont, Bonnie, Dedenne, Bunnelby, Luxray, Chespin, Serena, Braxien, Pancham, Sylveon, Ben Tennyson, Julie Yamamoto and Ship. They successfully build and complete the portal, but what will they find on the other side?

Tropes

  • Action Girl: Bonnie, Serena and Julie.
  • Alternate Continuity: Ben and Julie are still together and never broke up.
  • Big Bad: Homura due to Love Makes You Crazy.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Homura winds up stomped into the ground when Optimus and his team confront her.
  • Beware the Nice Ones/The Chessmaster: Madoka set up the whole thing. She used her omniscience to find out about the events of Rebellion so she created the blueprints and divided them up and sent them off to the heroes. Madoka then went through the events of the barrier, timing it so Homura stealing her powers coincided with Optimus and his group turning the portal on. As she was in the orb, she knew about the gang battling Homura and Bonnie's Breaking Speech to Homura and that is why Madoka was able to break open the orb, get everyone out and take back her powers from Homura. Ash lampshades this when he says "Well, they do say to always watch out for the nice ones!" In addition, Optimus and his team don't hold back in their battle against Homura and then there's Bonnie's Breaking Speech.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Optimus and his group beat Homura and open her eyes to what she did was wrong and she's in a new orb where she can battle monsters and when she's taken to heaven, will no longer be able to steal Madoka's powers, free everyone in the orb and get rid of Kyubey permanently. However, Madoka must return to her role of the Laws of Cycles, possessing a robot body to talk to the heroes but tells the group that they won't remember her but she'll be everywhere and everywhen, watching over all of them. The final lines indicate that the heroes are already forgetting Madoka.
  • Blow You Away: Talonflame, Hawlucha and Noivern are part Flying-types and wield Flying-type moves against Homura.
  • Breaking Speech: After Homura tries to get back the orb, saying her friends are in there, Bonnie after saying, "Your friends?" to which Homura nods, responds with “Well, I bet that after you stole Madoka’s powers, you transported your friends into the reality in this orb because you and you alone thought what was right for your friends and didn’t bother to ask permission from your friends, right?” Homura responds by pulling out a bazooka and shooting fire bombs at the gang which First Aid dispels via Energon Field Generator to render the group temporarily invincible. Clemont lampshades this when he says the speech ensures Homura won't focus on the fight.
  • Canon Foreigner: Omni-Enhanced Water Hazard who has rocky rings around his hand ports that he can grow or shrink and affect the water shot out and two rocky shoulder turrets he can grow into bigger ones and combine into a massive turret. He can infuse his water with electricity, ice or liquid nitrogen or all three at once.
  • Combination Attack: Everyone adds their attacks to Optimus's Matrix of Leadership beam to stop Homura once and for all.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Optimus's group beats Homura soundly.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Bonnie sees Madoka grabbing Homura's hands and reclaiming her powers before the gang is returned to their world.
  • Fix Fic: One of the biggest complaints about Rebellion was why Madoka didn't see Homura's betrayal coming. According to this fic, she did as she used her omniscience to find out about the events of the film and set the whole thing up so Kyubey would be permanently beaten and Homura would be shown the error of her ways.
  • Forgot About His Powers: Homura just tries to blast the group with missiles and fire bombs and unveils a dark beam at the climax of the fight. Justified as the author had this fic in the back of his mind for years.
  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Optimus and his team don't see Kyubey trying to stop entropy as excusing what they've done to Madoka and her friends.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Kyubey, though they're taken care of pretty easily.
  • Info Dump: Kyubey explaining his and his kind's plight. Optimus's team isn't very sympathetic.
  • Making a Splash: Ben uses Omni-Enhanced Water Hazard to battle Homura.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Rhinox traps Kyubey and his fellows in a translucent forcefield, with turret guns programmed to blast them constantly and for the forcefield to warp away if it detects a planet with any life on it. Considering what Kyubey pulled during Puella Magi Madoka Magica, it's very hard to feel sorry for Kyubey.
  • Mood Whiplash: After Bonnie realizes her orb is gone, the heroes become sad because they'll never find out what happened to the girls into the orb with the music being Sad Girl. Cue someone asking the heroes why they're sad and the group turns around to see...Madoka possessing a robot body as the music switches to An Adventure in Atlantica!
  • Nice Guy: All the heroes are very nice to each other and Madoka is nothing but polite to the heroes when they finally meet.
  • Oh, Crap!: A lot such as First Aid when he sees Optimus is getting overwhelmed when using the Matrix of Leadership and Bonnie when she realizes her orb is missing.
  • Sad Battle Music: "That Which Has Life" from the Japanese version of Pokémon: The First Movie and all versions of Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution plays during Optimus's group's battle with Homura, symbolizing how this is a fight that no one wants, but the team has to do this to save Madoka and the others from within the orb.
  • Tempting Fate: After the battle with Homura and the gang's return to their own dimension, Serena points out they still have the orb and can extract everyone in there. Cue Bonnie wiggling her fingers and realizing her orb's gone!
  • Theme Music Power-Up: The Touch plays while Optimus and his team deliver the Combination Attack to beat Homura.
  • Wham Shot:
    • After the gang returns to their dimension, Serena says they still have the orb and can extract everyone in there. Bonnie then wiggles her fingers and realizes that the orb's gone.
    • After Bonnie says she saw someone grabbing Homura's hands, the gang gets sad as they realize that they have no way of happening to everyone in the orb. They then hear a voice asking "Why are you sad?" and they look over to see Madoka possessing a robot body.

Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects Redux
Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects Redux is a Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects fanfic that crosses over with Persona 4, Pokémon Masters, Dragalia Lost, Stella Glow and Fate/Grand Order. Niles van Roekel modifies a woman named Maya into Paragon to serve as his perfect weapon to reclaim his home world. However, she develops self-awareness and one day, tears off her Turlin Neural Override and escapes. Roekel sends his minions into New York City where they contend with Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
  • Action Girl: The female characters including Invisible Woman, Nessa and Hildegarde.
  • Adaptational Alternate Ending: Paragon takes the Imperfects back to their world to free it as the heroes repair New York.
  • Adaptational Badass: The Marvel Heroes are able to beat the Imperfects in all fights here.
  • Adaptational Wimp: The Imperfects are incredibly weak, being bested by the heroes in both fights against them and in the latter, after Rokel powered them up.
  • Big Bad: Niles van Roekel
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Storm and Daredevil have the Turlin Neural Override forcibly attached to the backs of their necks which makes them incredibly violent. Nessa, Cyclops and Elektra are able to get the respective devices off.
  • Brick Joke: After Mary Jane shoots Solara with a Super Soaker, the former thinks "Cliche lines, huh? Peter would be unimpressed" in response to Solara yelling "Arrgh! You dare strike me!?" In the climax, when the heroes confront Roekel, he says "You pesky heroes have crossed me for the last time!" prompting Spider-Man to react with “Cliche dialogue? You aren’t really that impressive!"
  • The Cameo: Akira appears in Chapter 2, delivering special portal technology to Sue.
  • Cliché Storm: The villains speak in these lines which are mocked by the heroes such as Solara saying “Arrgh! You dare strike me!?” after Mary Jane Watson shoots her with a Super Soaker. Mary Jane just thinks “Cliche lines, huh? Peter would be unimpressed.”
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The aliens including the Imperfects are no match for the heroes.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Van Roekel's fate at Maya's claws, just like the game.
  • Info Dump: Mr. Fantastic tells the heroes about how the Turlin Neural Overrides work.
  • Lethal Joke Item: Mary Jane takes down Solara in both fights with a Super Soaker thanks to its ability to fire jets of water.
  • Megaton Punch: Hulk and Thing use this alongside Colossus's Spin Attack to take down an upgraded Fault Zone during the rematch.
  • Mythology Gag: The Marvel Heroes' moves come from Marvel Ultimate Alliance and Marvel Heroes. Roekel's dialogue after Elektra frees Daredevil ("Daredevil. You're such a disappointment. Let's send in the reinforcements.") is the only line from the game.
  • Poisonous Person: Hazmat as in the game. He's cured of his poison by Hildegarde, Lisette and Nessa.
  • Seen It All: The Thing's response to the alien invasion is to contact the other heroes and say “Ben Grimm here, there’s a massive alien invasion and I’d just thought you’d like to know.”
  • Shout-Out: The Thing uses a Super Ground Smash from Disney Infinity against the first wave of aliens.
  • Smug Snake: Roekel firmly believes his newly upgraded Imperfects can beat the heroes, even as they're taken down one by one.
  • Tempting Fate: Roekel thinks that his upgrades have made the Imperfects stronger during their second fights with the heroes. The heroes proceed to prove him wrong.
  • That Man Is Dead: Paragon makes it clear in the climax that her name is Paragon, not Maya.

     Trivia

Pokémon: The Pirate Who Summons Trouble

  • Acting for Two: Many examples such as Sarah Natochenny as Ash, Delia, Rhonda, Staraptor and Roserade and Lisa Ortiz as Ash’s Oshawott, Ash’s Alomomola, Ash’s Totodile, Flannery, Korrina, Sabrina, Valerie’s Spritzee, Blaine’s Ninetales, Erika’s Gloom and Tracey’s Venonat.
  • Crossdressing Voices: Several examples such as Sarah Natochenny as Ash, Ikue Otani as Pikachu, Erica Schroeder as Leavanny and Lisa Ortiz as Oshawott.
  • The Original Darrin: Sarah Natochenny reprises Rhonda from her first appearance in the dub.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Ash's Eiscue and Hatterene are Jeannie Tirado and Melissa Fahn instead of Billy Kametz and Jenny Yokobori due to the dub of Pokémon Journeys: The Series only releasing in 10 episode batches every three months and as such, the author did not know who would voice the two Pokémon for a quite a while.
    • Jeannie Tirado is Ash’s Buizel, Gible and Marshtomp and Iris’s Emolga.
    • Melissa Fahn is Gary Oak’s Nidoqueen, Whitney, Whitney’s Miltank, Chloe’s Galar Ponyta and Galar Rapidash.
    • Griffin Burns does Tracey in place of Ted Lewis and Craig Blair due to the author not knowing if Ted Lewis was going to reprise the role if Tracey ever spoke again and in the dub of The Rainbow and the Pokémon Master!, Ted Lewis does reprise Tracey.
  • Role Reprise: Many examples such as Jeannie Tirado, Melissa Fahn and Cherami Leigh as Katarina, Maria and Anne.
  • What Could Have Been: The first Omake explains the fic was supposed to be based around Dora the Explorer but the author couldn't figure out how to make it work either as a regular episode or a video game, so he decided to do a Pokémon fic instead.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie Rebellion Sequel

  • Acting for Two:
    • Christine Marie Cabanos does First Aid, Water Hazard and Madoka.
    • Erica Schroeder is Pancham and Sylveon.
    • Alyson Leigh Rosenfield is Bunnelby and Bonnie.
    • Cassandra Lee Morris is Grey Matter and Kyubey

  • Cross-Dressing Voices: Christine Marie Cabanos does First Aid and Water Hazard and Cassandra Lee Morris is Grey Matter along with Sarah Natochenny as Ash and Ikue Otani as Pikachu.
  • Role Reprise: Most of the cast such as Richard Newman as Rhinox. Optimus is an interesting example as he is reprised by Hiro Diaz, his voice actor from Recruits, Parts One and Two from Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy, due to the author being disappointed that Hiro Diaz only did Optimus in those two episodes and was replaced with Jake Tillman starting with Rescue Promo due to Diaz giving Optimus a more unique voice and not just a Peter Cullen impression.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Christine Marie Cabanos takes over from Michael Bell and Dee Bradley Baker as First Aid and Water Hazard.
    • Cassandra Lee Morris does Grey Matter in place of Richard Steven Horvitz (OS), Carlos Alazraqui (RAT), Eric Bauza (OM) and Todd Haberkorn (Reboot).
    • Cristina Valuzena is Dedenne, taking over from Megumi Sato (whose clips were retained in the XY dub) and Alyson Leigh Rosenfield (who did the role in Journeys).
