Before and After
Keitarou Itsuki is a high-school student unhappy about the menacing appearance of his eyes. Keitarou tries to confess to the girl he likes, Aoi Tokujira, but she rejects him flat out. Thinking that his eyes were the reason why she rejected him, he confides in his older sister about it at her salon, who helps by giving him a complete makeover...as a pretty girl! Forced to head home like this, he runs into Aoi in town, but she doesn't recognize him and thinks he's a somewhat manly girl. Before he can leave, Aoi asks him to help her overcome a problem she's had for many years: an intense fear of men.

Ookami Shounen wa Kyou mo Uso wo Kasaneru ("The Boy who Cried Wolf Tells a Lie Today Too") is a manga by namo (who illustrated the manga adaptation of Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts), which was serialized in Famitsu Comic Clear from 2014 to 2017. It's kinda a Otokonoko, but also a Slice of Life Romantic Comedy. Keitarou's crossdressing self will be referred to as Itsuki as in the manga.

  • And the Adventure Continues: While the last chapter brings some closure to the main trio's relationship, the story tells us that their tale doesn't end there, merely that this story will.
  • Book Dumb: Botan is a subversion. Keitarou, despite liking to read, doesn't do very well at school. Mostly due to insecurities.
  • Bookworm: All 3 main characters. Aoi takes the cake by reading to get away from others, so she read dictionaries in kindergarten.
  • Bromantic Foil: Keitarou's friend Terayama has shades of this, but he doesn't appear nearly enough to fully justify calling him one.

  • Liar Revealed: Ibuki, Keitarou's sister, essentially warns him that this scenario would eventually come when he asks for her help continuing to crossdress in order to spend more time with Aoi. And it does happen, though sooner and in a different way than most would expect from this genre in manga. Keitarou, unable to handle his feelings of guilt, decides to fess up about his double identity when Botan confesses to him (as Itsuki) about her recently realized romantic feelings for him (as himself), removing his wig and exposing himself to both Botan and Aoi, who happened to be walking toward them right as he does so.
