Super Paper Roblox has a variety of characters with a whole bunch of tropes worth pointing out.

Good Guys

    open/close all folders

    Wiscara
The Sorceress of Scissors, who takes control of the magic scissors collected by the player.
  • Action Girl: Although we never see her in action, she was able to hold her own during the final battle in Chapter 8.
  • Anime Hair: Wiscara has noticeable scissor shapes in her hairstyle.
  • Brutal Honesty: She makes no attempt to sugarcoat her words, especially when her brother is involved.
  • Fiery Redhead: She's a redhead, and she tends to be easily-angered.
  • Mr. Vice Guy: Wiscara is prideful, snarky, blunt, and short-tempered, but unlike her brother Aristris, she genuinely cares for her allies and is willing to swallow her pride when the situation calls for it.
  • Mythology Gag: Wiscara appears to have been based off of Miss Cara from Adventure Forward: Star Savior, who also has red hair and a purple dress.
  • Purple Is Powerful: Her dress is purple.

    Scriptliss
A demon who used to be a villain in Paper Roblox 2: Beyond the Fold, before being chained in a shrine. During his imprisonment, he was thinking that he could turn his life around and become a hero, which he finally got the chance to do after being released.

    Otempes
The leader of the Guardians of Balance.
  • Cool Old Guy: He’s the leader of the Guardians of Balance, for starters!

    Dusekkar
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dusek.png
The creator of the Plot Book.
  • God Is Flawed: It turns out he made many mistakes in the past. This is why he and Lanter don’t get along.
  • Pumpkin Person: His head is a blue-and-yellow pumpkin. With antlers.

    Tucker
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tucker_2.png
A very rich man from Seaview Vegas, who had come to Cutout Town for the grand opening of Casino Centavo.
  • Alliterative Name: Tucker Trillion
  • Born Lucky: His most defining trait. He is known for being so lucky, that he wins many casino games, and is rich as a result.
  • Distressed Dude: He gets kidnapped by Rozanda in Chapter 6.
  • Informed Ability: He's supposed to be Born Lucky, yet, until Chapter 9, absolutely nothing goes his way during his screentime.
  • Riches to Rags: In Chapter 8, Rozanda forces him to wear a musty shirt, jacket, and jeans, instead of his dress clothes. The developer commentary quotes this word-by-word.

Bad Guys

    Aristris
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ari_7.png
Wiscara's brother, who owns a mansion. He is known for causing most of Wiscara's frustration.
  • Always Second Best: The Cumulus start to view him as this to Wiscara after she defeats him. He's not happy at this in the slightest.
  • Arc Villain: Aristris serves as the main antagonist of Chapter 2, being the first true villain that Protagonist faces in order to obtain the second of the magic scissors.
  • Back for the Finale: After being a recurring character post-Chapter 2, he joins the fight at Antagon's fortress. Not on Robloxia's side, mind you, but as one of Antagon's minions.
  • Bad Boss: Downplayed. While he never outright murders any of his Cumulus servants, he's just as uncaring towards them as he is to his enemies, and doesn't show one shed of remorse when he abandons them in favor of working for Antagon.
  • Being Good Sucks: It's all but stated that he found being a Classical Anti-Hero (or at least neutral) boring, when the climax reveals that he joined Antagon's conquest to defeat Robloxian instead of defending it, while claiming that he felt underappreciated before joining them.
  • Blow You Away: Aristris is a wind mage, though he's abilities are never shown on-screen.
  • Braggart Boss: He spends Chapter 2 taunting Protagonist and Wiscara over the prospect of them defeating him... which makes it all the more karmic when Aristris reluctantly lets them leave after Wiscara swipes back the scissors. He later tries to stop Wiscara again in Chapter 8, with an even more inflated ego, but his attempt lead to no avail. While he only fights the heroes twice, it's save to say that he'd be attempting to kill Wiscara in every chapter if he wasn't Brilliant, but Lazy.
  • Bright Is Not Good: He has white hair and wears a blue and gold outfit, which greatly contrasts with his haughty attitude. Averted in Chapter 8; Aristris dyed his hair black and wears a darker shade of blue.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: He probably could've been a Big Bad in his own right due to his abilities as a wind mage, but he lacks the ambition of Antagon and his minions. When Wiscara and Protagonist invade his mention in Chapter 2, he doesn't bother to try to kill the duo until they reach the basement, and he makes no attempt to try and stop Wiscara's escape after she swipes back the magic scissors. In Chapter 5, he tried to join the heroes at what initially appeared to have been a costume party, but chooses to leave the group after finding out that they're investigating the three sage doors, not even bothering to sabotage their efforts. It isn't until Chapter 8 that he gets himself involved with Antagon's conquest.
  • Classical Anti-Hero: One of the Cumulus claims that Aristris "isn't actually evil... He's just a very flawed protagonist. Everybody loves an anti-hero." Subverted in that Aristris never does anything heroic, not even in an Nominal Hero sense, and ultimately sides with Antagon, betraying Robloxia out of selfishness.
  • Cutscene Boss: His attempt to slay Protagonist and Wiscara at the end of Chapter 2 is cut short when the latter swipes back the magic scissors, which causes Aristis to give up out of frustration.
  • Disproportionate Retribution:
    • At the end of Chapter 2, he attempted to murder his sister and Protagonist for what amounted to trespassing and demanding that he'd return the magic scissors that he stole.
    • In the climax, he sided with Antagon, betraying all of Robloxia in the process, because he felt underappreciated in comparation to Wiscara. This is despite the fact that he has an entire fanclub to himself.
  • Driven by Envy:
    • Aside from finding it fun, this was his reason for stealing Wiscara's magic scissors.
    • In the climax, he sided with Antagon because he felt underappreciated in comparation to Wiscara.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Claims to have felt underappreciated when Wiscara discovers his Face–Heel Turn in Chapter 8. This is despite the fact that he has an entire fanclub to himself.
  • Easily Forgiven: 'Forgiven' is a strong word for it, but after the events of Chapter 8, he was permitted to return to Robloxia, despite previously attempting to doom it out of self-gain and spite. And, unlike the other antagonists that received a "Get Out of Jail Free" Card (aside from Antagon and Pink I, who were sentenced to 1,000 hours of community service at Banland), he showed not a shred of remorse or empathy in Chapter 9, or in the Playable Epilogue.
  • Establishing Character Moment:
    • His first appearance has his rudely tell Protagonist off while boasting that Peculiar Hill is his territory, should Protagonist speak with him in Chapter 1.
    • If Protagonist skips meeting him, or forgets about their initial encounter, then the player's first impression with Aristris in Chapter 2 has him declare that he doesn't need an introduction, before doing so anyway after snarking that Protagonist might not have read the sign outside.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: If there's one positive thing to say about Aristris, it's that he does his taxes legitimately instead of trying to evade it. However, the fact that he nearly dooms Robloxia by siding with Antagon by the climax of the story renders this small gesture of decency pointless.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: In Chapter 8, he tries to justify his Face–Heel Turn by stating that he was always underappreciated, especially compared to Wiscara. This is ignoring that the other Robloxians would've viewed him in a more positive light if he were as generous as Wiscara or Otempes.
  • Evil Laugh: Lets out one before attempting to kill Wiscara and Protagonist at the end of Chapter 2
  • Expy: In terms of personality, he closely resembles Groose, both being an antagonistic bully with an overblown ego, and both intended to create an Egopolis in one occasion. Though, unlike Groose, Aristris never receives Character Development, nor does he pull a Heel–Face Turn, despite the fact that one of his Cumulus servants implies that he will go through either one at some point.
  • Face–Heel Turn: While he was never a good person to begin with, he at least stayed neutral after his defeat in Chapter 2, even leaving the heroes to their own devices after finding out that they're investigating the three sage doors in Chapter 5. By the events of Chapter 6 however, he started privately considering the possibility of betraying Robloxia and joining Antagon, something that he goes through with by the events of Chapter 8.
  • Faux Affably Evil: As rude and narcissistic as he is, Aristris can act polite and civil when he feels like it; best shown when he congratulates Wiscara and Protagonist before attempting to murder them at the end of Chapter 2.
  • For the Evulz: He stole Wiscara's magic scissors out of spite and envy, and likely had no intent to use them himself.
  • Freudian Excuse: His dialogue in Chapter 8 makes it clear that he resents the fact that no one (aside from his Cumulus servants, a fact that he ignores while making his speech) would take him seriously. While it's unclear if there was ever a point were he was a decent guy, or if it just made him worse than he already was, it goes a long way to explain why he generally has no desire to benefit anyone other than himself.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Despite being an (alleged) Classical Anti-Hero, he acts like your average Narcissist towards Wiscara and Protagonist. By the time he starts considering betraying Robloxia and joining Antagon, the 'good' part is averted entirely.
  • Graceful Loser: He takes his failure in Chapter 8 fairly well, apparently considering his survival a victory within itself.
  • Hated by All: Aside from his Cumulus servants and Antagon's forces (considering that they tolerated him enough to allow him to join them), you'll be hard-pressed to find any civilian that likes Aristris. Considering his actions in Chapter 8, the feeling is mutual.
  • Hero of Another Story: If the dialogue one of the Cumulus is to be believed, Aristris views himself as "a very flawed protagonist." Though, since he never does anything heroic on-screen or off-screen, he comes across as a Villain of Another Story in the perspective of Protagonist.
  • Hero with an F in Good: Despite being an alleged Classical Anti-Hero, he never does anything heroic, not even in an Nominal Hero sense. Ultimately, he sides with Antagon in the climax out of spiteful envy, and tries to stop the other heroes, despite knowing that succeeding to do so will doom all of Robloxia in the process.
  • Holier Than Thou: Despite making no attempt to justify his decision to steal Wiscara's magic scissors, Aristris proves that he has a strong, if highly skewed, sense of morality, since he criticizes Protagonist and Wiscara for acting rude in Chapter 2, and he tries to rationalize his decision to side with Antagon after Wiscara calls him out for it in Chapter 8.
  • Hypocritical Humor:
    • He chastises Protagonist for being "uncouth" when they demand that he should return Wiscara's magic scissors, and later states that they're both the rudest guests that he had. This is coming from someone that spends the entire game insulting and taunting others.
    • He dubs Protagonist as "really weird" for jumping on his furniture. This happens immediately after said Protagonist points out that they installed a carpet made of lava in his mansion.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: In the climax, when Wiscara asks him why he sided with Antagon, he reveals that he felt that he was underappreciated in comparation to Wiscara. While he'll never outright admit it, he views Wiscara as his superior, and hates every thought of it.
  • Jerkass: Aristris is a rude, sleazy, hypocritical, narcissistic, and petty bully with few positive traits. He'd be a textbook Hate Sink if he weren't so entertaining.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: His brief appearance in Chapter 5 makes it seem that he's willing to join the heroes in order to fight a greater threat... but it turns out to be a minor misunderstanding, as he thought everyone was having a costume party. After realizing his mistake and listening for a while, he leaves the heroes to their own devices.
  • Karma Houdini: Despite his role in stealing one of the magic scissors and betraying his homeland by joining Antagon's forces, he survives the final battle, and was allowed to return to Robloxia without so little as being threatened with a restraining order. And while the Cumulus start viewing him as a Broken Pedestal, Aristris is only bothered by this when one of them states that Wiscara is better than him.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: After Wiscara swipes back the magic scissor he stole at the end of Chapter 2, Aristris accempts that she has already won, and reluctantly tells her and Protagonist to go ahead and make their exit.
  • Lone Wolf Boss: While he's aware of Antagon's existence, he doesn't care about his conquest until Chapter 6, and the only reason why he was the boss of Chapter 2 was because Wiscara needed the magic scissors he stole in order to reach Antagon's fortress.
  • More Despicable Minion: It seems like Antagon is a sociopathic tyrant who wants to use the Plot Book to Take Over the World, but in Chapter 8 and 9, Protagonist learns that he's simply a child with an Inferiority Superiority Complex, who has a poor grip on the concepts of right and wrong, and has a Heel Realization after seeing the fallout of his actions. In contrast, Aristris is a selfish megalomaniac and a Soft-Spoken Sadist that sold out his own homeland out of self-gain, never shows any compassion towards his loyal servants (dialogue in Chapter 9 implies that Antagon was a decent enough boss that Pink I was willing to save him from being Grounded Forever), and is the only surviving antagonist not to show any remorse or empathy after Antagon's defeat. And unlike Antagon, he's fully aware of his own actions.
  • Mystical White Hair: Averted. The developer commentary suggests that Aristris dyed his hair white as oppose to being caused by magic.
  • Narcissist: Easily the most arrogant and selfish character in the story, despite his list of crimes being surpassed by the other antagonists. In the Playable Epilogue, he declares his intent to open a theme park called 'Aristrisland'.
  • Never My Fault:
    • Berates Protagonist and Wiscara for being rude to him in Chapter 2, ignoring that they did so in response to him stealing the latter's magic scissors.
    • He calls out Protagonist for jumping on his furniture, even though the only other option was to walk on the carpet he installed, which was made of lava. When Protagonist points this out, he dismisses their comment as nonsensical.
    • In Chapter 8, he tries to justify his Face–Heel Turn by stating that he was always underappreciated, especially compared to Wiscara. This is ignoring that he has an entire fanclub to himself, and that the other Robloxians would've viewed him in a more positive light if he were as generous as Wiscara or Otempes.
  • Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: Subverted. One of the Cumulus insists that Aristris "isn't actually evil... He's just a very flawed protagonist." Even if one ignores the fact that he attempted to murder Wiscara in Protagonist in front of his servants in the previous chapter, the fact that he attempted to doom his own homeland out of self-gain and spite, and showed not one shred of remorse afterwards, should erase any possibility that his villainy is just an act.
  • Pet the Dog: At least in his point of view, he was a good host towards Wiscara and Protagonist in Chapter 2, and could've been more hostile to them if he wanted to. Despite the fact that he, y'know, attempted to murder them.
  • Plot-Irrelevant Villain: While the other antagonists that guard the magic scissors are connected to Antagon in some way, Aristris stole Wiscara's magic scissors to spite her, then simply hangs around in front of his mansion until Chapter 5. In the climax, while he does join Antagon's forces, he does so to get revenge on Wiscara rather than any other reason.
  • Rich Bitch: He lives in a large mansion, wears an expensive outfit, and has a Holier Than Thou attitude. Though, unlike most examples, he doesn't commit tax evasion.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Views himself as Robloxia's greatest mage. Only the Cumulus agrees with him, and even they start changing their minds after Wiscara defeats him.
  • Sixth Ranger:
    • Subverted. He initially tries to join the heroes at the start of Chapter 5 under the assumption that they're having a costume party. However, after realizing his mistake and listening for a while, he ditches the group out of boredom.
    • Played straight in Chapter 8, where he pulls a Face–Heel Turn and joins Antagon's forces.
  • The Sociopath: He is impulsive, narcissistic, unable to understand the feelings of others, and superficially charming. Despite his short list of crimes, he stands out as just as wicked as the warmongers that work for Antagon, and is the only surviving antagonist not to show any remorse or empathy after Chapter 8.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: At the end of Chapter 2, he congratulates Protagonist and Wiscara in a Faux Affably Evil manner... before gloating that no one will be able to hear the latter's screams while he finishes her off before letting loose an Evil Laugh.
  • Sore Loser: He takes his defeat by the hands of Wiscara at the end of Chapter 2 poorly. Chapter 3 and 4 shows that he's still salty about it, as he refuses to talk to Protagonist in the former, and ends up in a Argument of Contradictions with a Cumulus when they state that Wiscara is better in the latter.
  • Starter Villain: After dealing with the brainwashed Boxtra, Aristris is the first true villain that Protagonist faces. Despite being highly arrogant, he lacks the high threat level and resources the other antagonists have.
  • Starter Villain Stays: After being defeated in Chapter 2, Aristris remains a recurring character for the future chapters, before eventually joining Antagon's forces and returning to try and stop the heroes in Chapter 8.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Subverted. He initially tries to join the heroes at the start of Chapter 5 under the assumption that they're having a costume party. However, after realizing his mistake and listening for a while, he ditches the group out of boredom.
  • The Unapologetic: By the events of Chapter 9, he is the only surviving anagonist not to show any remorse (or, at very least, empathy) for being a jerk, let alone attempting to doom his own homeland out of self-gain and spite.
  • Villain of Another Story: While Aristris has had several fights with Wiscara in the past, he's only mandatorily encountered three times prior to Chapter 9, and never truly becomes a threat in Protagonist's quest.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Despite making no attempt to sugarcoat his actions, Aristris is universally praised by the Cumulus, who see him as a badass Classical Anti-Hero. Though his popularity start to decrease after Wiscara defeats him, and especially drops when he betrays Robloxia by aligning with Angagon's forces out of spiteful envy in the climax, as one of the Cumulus points out.
  • Wolfpack Boss: At the end of Chapter 2, he teams up with a pack of Cumulus when he attempts to slay Protagonist and Wiscara.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: His Motive Rant in Chapter 8 attempts to paint himself as this.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: His list of crimes may not be as long as the other antagonists, but he's still a selfish white-haired douche that was fully content with murdering his sister. Inverted in Chapter 8; Aristris dyed his hair black to establish his Face–Heel Turn.

    Rozanda
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/roziee.png
The queen of the pirates, who was released from Banland. She is accompanied by Banland security guards, and is notorious for imprisoning innocent Robloxians.
  • Perky Female Minion: Rozanda is far more energetic then one may expect from a ruthless pirate and one of Antagon's toughest minions.
  • Pirate Girl: She's infamously known as the queen of pirates.
  • Purple Is Powerful: She has purple hair, fitting for someone who's both the queen of pirates and one of Antagon's key minions.
  • Rich Bitch: She has the title of the queen of pirates, has a massive pirate ship with a throne room, and is as haughty as one might expect.

    Tretone
Leader of the Crevon army, recently released from Banland by Antagon to start a war.

Unsorted

    1x1x1x1/Tess Aract
Tess Aract and 1x1x1x1 were originally two separate entities. Then, Tess was fused with 1x1x1x1.

    Lanter
Dusekkar's cousin, a recluse living alone in Cutout Town.

    The Postman
A nameless postman that delivers letters once a chapter except for chapter 8.
  • Badass Normal: His card states that he will go to insane lengths just to deliver a letter to you despite having no powers at all.
Developer’s Comment: The true hero of our story.
  • The Real Heroes: Due to being the one who frequently updates Protagonist about his quests, the developer commentary describes him as "The true hero of our story."
  • Unstoppable Mailman: No matter how dire the situation, he'll always locate Protagonist to update him on his quests.
