Brucey B

• Angry Fist-Shake: Briefly does this in the story, vowing to get revenge on Spectre. He also does this in the Cheat! game when he wrongly accuses someone or gets caught cheating.
• The Cameo: In the Desert Diplomacy storyline.
• Cool Shades: Is commonly seen with them in the story.
• Detrimental Determination: Chose to take part in Spectre’s invitational Cheat! game, and he left with nothing. The text on Day 4, Page 1, sums it up:
  "Brucey was heartbroken… he had lost his money, and his coin… and it was all his fault!"
• Games of the Elderly: When he's not playing Cheat!, Brucey B spends a lot of time as a bingo caller.
• Good Luck Charm: The Lucky Coin was the key for Brucey B to win the Cheat! Championship.
• Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Wears a cool shirt and shades. Though in some moments in the story, he is also seen wearing aqua pants and blue/orange shoes.
• MacGuffin: Brucey B’s gold medallion drives the plot of the story.
• Off-Model: In the revised Tug 'O' War game, Brucey becomes a Blue Bruce with a lime green shirt.
• Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Regains the coin in the epilogue.
• Player Character: In Tug 'O' War and Desert Race.
• Quicksand Sucks: Gets stuck in one at the Haunted Woods, but manages to survive with the help of the branches in the morning.
• Series Mascot: Was this for the story and appears in games such as Brucey B Slots, Cheat!, Tug 'O' War and Desert Race.
• Terrible Artist: Drew a crude picture of Spectre wielding the gold medallion to see if passerbys know where the Jetsam is.
• Took a Level in Badass: Brucey B was responsible for recruiting locals to help defend Sakhmet, while also destroying Dr. Sloth's magic staff.
• Underdogs Never Lose: Won the Cheat! Championship despite never winning before and being up against Capara and 00 Hog.

Capara

• All for Nothing: In the Epilogue, Capara laments about being turned into a Wadjet for nothing, until Brucey reveals that he found the coin after all.
• Angry Fist-Shake: Does this in the Cheat! Championship, and in the Cheat! game when she wrongly accuses someone or gets caught cheating.
• Crying Critters: Has done this at least three times in the story; the first when the trio have to go through the haunted woods during the night, the second when she was surrounded by Wadjets, and the third when she was cornered by Dr. Sloth.
• Dude, Not Funny!: After being turned into a Wadjet by Dr. Sloth, Brucey B jokes about selling the one and only red haired Wadjet to Peopatra, which Wadjet!Capara responds by biting Brucey on the nose.
• Fire-Breathing Diner: Bites into a mummified pepper and when she spits the pieces out, her tongue looks like its on fire.
• Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal: While the Cheat! game has her with just fur and makeup, the story has her wearing a white shirt, a black jacket, red trousers and black shoes, while a different picture features her in a green dress.
• "Hell, Yes!" Moment: When Capara realizes she is free from Dr. Sloth’s curse, she celebrates by dancing.
• I Want My Mummy!: Capara cries out for her mother twice; once in the Haunted Woods and the other when Dr. Sloth corners her.
• Ignored Expert: Capara insisted for Brucey B to put his winnings in the National Neopian bank, instead of heading to the invitational Cheat! game. Brucey, thinking he was still on a hot streak, naturally chose the latter.
• Informed Attribute: Has been training for the upcoming Cheat! Championship and uses her feminine wiles and amazing intelligence to cheat her way to the top, but she fails to make it past the second round in the game. Her card even lampshades it with the description mentioning that "she is a hopeless cheater and always loses".
• Nobody Touches the Hair: Her quote in her bio is "Do NOT, I repeat, do not touch the hair…"
• Not Cheating Unless You Get Caught: Cheat by Capara’s description states "Everyone knows she cheats and lies her way through every game, yet nobody can prove anything".
• Sore Loser: Capara is seen shaking her fist at Brucey B, though she does sincerely congratulate him sometime after the tournament over the phone.
• Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Has a noted fear of Wadjets. She ends up becoming one later in the story because of Dr. Sloth's staff, though she does return to normal at the finale.
• Write What You Know: In-Universe, she has a book called Cheat by Capara, about her time in the Cheat! Championship.

Princess Fernypoo

• Beauty Is Never Tarnished: She gets turned into a Mutant being from Dr. Sloth’s staff, though she does revert to normal at the finale.
• Four Legs Good, Two Legs Better: Is bipedal in the story.
• Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal: In the story, she wears a pink dress with white gloves.
• Hair-Trigger Temper: Her bio states that through word of mouth, she has a volcanic temper that has made tournament organisers wary of sending her an invitation.
• "Hell, Yes!" Moment: When Fernypoo realizes she is free from Dr. Sloth’s curse, she flails her arms wildly about with an open smile after regaining her beauty.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite her selfish nature, in the story she helped Brucey B on his quest to retrieve his lucky coin.
• Passive-Aggressive Kombat: Doesn't think highly of Graceful Losers in this quote:
  "Show me a gracious loser and I'll show you someone who gets beat a lot".
• Precious Puppy: Has a pet Puppyblew named 'Muffy'. When Muffy has an Imagine Spot, he's wholesomely hugging a tree.
• Red Eyes, Take Warning: In the Cheat! game, when Fernypoo wrongly accuses someone or gets caught cheating, her eyes turn red and she lets out a mean look.
• Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: Despite being a princess, Fernypoo didn’t bring any Neopoints on her journey with Brucey B and Capara.
• When Trees Attack: Fernypoo gets lifted off the ground by a tree in the Haunted Woods, though she gets released in the morning.

Spectre

• Angry Fist-Shake: Does this in the Cheat! game when he wrongly accuses someone or gets caught cheating.
• Art Evolution: Starting with the Cheat! game, Spectre would have red skin and an anchor tattoo in place of the scar.
• Brand X: While he appears on a card in the Neopets Trading Card game, he is called "Jetsam Shark".
• Caps Lock: After getting Brucey B’s coin in the invitational Cheat! game, he says this:
  GET HIM OUT OF HERE!!!
• The Dragon: To Dr. Sloth during the Lucky Coin plot.
• Dreamworks Face: Ends up pulling one while waving at Brucey B in the story.
• Early Installment Character-Design Difference: In Brucey B and the Lucky Coin, Spectre had purple skin and a scar in place of the tattoo on his face. He was also presumably known as "R.S." during the story.
• Even Evil Has Standards: As Dr. Sloth and the Grundo minions load the ship with gold and gems from the treasure room, Spectre asks Dr. Sloth about a fair share of the treasure to share with his group. Dr. Sloth responds by giving him just four gold coins to share with.
• Everything's Sparkly With Jewellery: When Spectre enters the treasure room inside the pyramid, he’s wearing a gold tiara on his head; his fins, arms and tails are covered in gold bracelets and rings; and he’s wearing gold earrings, even though a Jetsam doesn’t have ears to attach them with.
• Final Boss:
  • He serves as the final opponent in the game Cheat!.
  • He's the last opponent in the game Tug 'O' War, as ???.
• Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal:
  • Wears a black shirt in the story.
  • One photo shows him wearing a vest over his top.
  • Wears a black shirt in the original Tug 'O' War, but the revised version strangely averts this.
• Hypocrite: Spectre asks Dr. Sloth about a fair share of the treasure, even though he collected a series of gold items just two pages earlier.
• Self-Deprecation: Has a book called What, Me Cheat?, which is 'a hilarious jaunt into the life of the criminal mastermind himself'.
• Shoutout: To the James Bond franchise; he is named after the villain group SPECTRE.
• Tattooed Crook: Has an Anchor tattooed on the right side of his face.
• Visual Pun: He's a Jetsam, and the champion of the Cheat! card game. He's a card shark.
• What Happened to the Mouse?: Spectre disappears from the plot after Page 13.
• Write What You Know: In-Universe; Life After Cheat was written by Spectre, after many people asked him what he’s been doing lately.

Rock Beast

• Becoming the Costume: With the Rock Beast Head, Body, Hands and Feet, a Nimmo can dress up as the Rock Beast.
• Final Boss: From Brucey B and the Lucky Coin.
• Monumental Damage: Is seen destroying Sakhmet in a Neo Deck card.
• No Biological Sex: Doesn't have a defined gender.
• Off with His Head!: Only the Beast’s head and a portion of its body remain in the finale.
• Rock Monster: Yeah.
• Unperson: Downplayed, as the Beast was removed from the Gallery of Evil, yet still appears on the site.

Horak

• Absent Animal Companion: Has a pet named Boojah, who only shows up once when Sakhmet is under attack.
• Art Evolution: The revised game of Tug 'O' War has her design changed to look more modern.
• Beauty Is Never Tarnished: She gets turned into a Mutant Aisha (notably the original unused version) after being zapped by one of the mutant Grundo's blaster, though she is seen back in her original form near the end of the story.
• Crying Critters: Does this after being struck down and transformed by the mutant Grundo's blaster.
• Four Legs Good, Two Legs Better:
  • For some reason in Day 14 of the story, Horak was standing on two legs and actually running on those legs while trying to escape.
  • Stands on two feet in the game Tug 'O' War.
• Happy Dance: Jumps in celebration after winning the final battle.
• Informed Equipment: In Tug 'O' War, she is apparently known for 'tying weights to her feet, using magnets against her opponents and greasing their end of the rope', although she isn't seen doing any of this in the game.
• Oh, Crap!: She ends up screaming at the Rock Beast before running away from it.
• Player Character: In Tug 'O' War.
• Unexplained Recovery: Despite being turned into a Mutant the chapter before, she is later back to her Desert form by the time the Rock Beast shows up.

Thiebos

• Cool Helmet: Wears an Anubis helmet over his face, which you can see when he’s hopping.
• Good Luck Charm: In Tug 'O' War, he carries a stale pyramibread which he balances on his head during competitions for luck.
• Happy Dance: After winning the battle, Thiebos hops happily.
• Oh, Crap!: Points in shock when Dr. Sloth summons the Rock Beast.
• Player Character: In Tug 'O' War.

Khadir

• The Big Guy: Used for part of a blockade to prevent Dr. Sloth through the gate. The Grundos broke down the wall instead.
• Dumb Muscle: Implied in Tug 'O' War, as he trusts brute force, but isn't the most intellectual type.
• Oh, Crap!: Is shocked when he sees the Rock Beast.
• Player Character: In Tug 'O' War.

Ramset

• Art Evolution: In the updated version of Tug 'O' War, Ramset has a more revised appearance and attire.
• Desecrating the Dead: Stands on top of the fallen Rock Beast’s head in the finale, and later dances on it after Dr. Sloth escapes.
• Happy Dance: She’s smiling while dancing on top of the Rock Beast’s head.
• Oh, Crap!: Is scared when she sees the Rock Beast.
• Player Character: In Tug 'O' War.
• The Strategist: She's well known throughout the desert as a good strategist.

Tuborr and Jo Jo the Lip

• Art Evolution: One picture has Jo Jo the Lip as a green Techo with yellow eyes.
• Early Installment Character-Design Difference: In the story, Jo Jo the Lip was a blue Techo with a red right eye and a blue left eye.
• Mutagenic Food: Tuborr ended up being mutated after eating a Blueberry Chia Pop.
• Those Two Guys: In the invitational Cheat! game.
• Unperson: In-Universe for Tuborr; when the Guildmaster’s Dinner got cancelled, all mention of Tuborr has been removed from the Neopets site.
• Villainous Glutton: Tuborr.

Agent 00 Hog

• Advertised Extra: Only appears at the beginning of the story in the Cheat! Championship.
• Despair Event Horizon: After losing in the finals of the Championship, his left eye twitches for a few seconds before he collapses.
• Sharp-Dressed Man: Wears a suit.
• Shoutout: To James Bond.
