The Ruthless Striker in Strive
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Jouji Nakata
Illustrator: Hidehiko Sakamura, Daisuke Ishiwatari
Theme Song: Give me a break

"You wanna live pal, you better not hold back."

He's a tough guy and a man of few words which says only the minimum necessary words. He is not good at explaining and expressing things, and is often more assertive in his actions and attitudes than in speaking. Although, is generally self-described as centered and violent, but is accepted as a "helpless guy" by some of his peers.

For more information, see Guilty Gear - Sol Badguy

  • Action Dad: He is a badass bounty hunter and his child is also in this game, Dizzy
  • Dash Attack: His hero action, "Ground Viper" has him charge forward and Knock Back any foe in front of him. Can be followed up with another one if the knockback of the first one sends a knockbacked foe into a wall
  • Call-Forward: He has a Strive alt just like Ky. His Dragon Install form is different as well and comes with different camera angles upon use. Looks bizarre seeing Strive Dragon Install as a transformation since in Strive, it was used as a super grab attack
  • Close-Range Combatant: He is known for this in his series but here it is Downplayed, since his card attack speed for Far attacks in this game is fast. However, you can still do this kind of playstyle by only equipping Near and Rapid cards which are also fast with him.
  • Cool Sword: He has the Fireseal which was then upgraded into the Junkyard Dog in XRD and this game. Then it became the Outrage MK.II in Strive and by extension, this game.
  • Death from Above: His Area attack is Riot Stamp.
  • Freddie Mercopy: He is one big Freddie fan. Sol's real name is Frederick Bulsara (Freddie Mercury's given name was Farrokh Bulsara). Mercury similarly used the nickname "Mr. Bad Guy" like how Sol does. Some of his hobbies note that he listens to his favorite band, Queen (with his favorite album of theirs being Sheer Heart Attack), among other similarities. He even holds his weapons in the same manner as Freddie would hold a mic stand on stage. Word of God notes this was completely deliberate.
  • Gathering Steam: His ability, "Overcoming Limitations" has him gain an attack boost every time he kills an opponent. It stacks up until 1.5x and it'll wear off if he dies.
  • Kill Streak: He gets an attack boost every time he scores a kill
  • Limit Break / Super Mode: His Overdrive, "Dragon Install" has him unleash his gear cells and take a demonic, blazing form. It gives him major attack and defense boosts. Lasts for 9 seconds then is left vulnerable for 3.5 seconds.
"Dragon Install!!! Sorry, but it's over!"
  • Megaton Punch: His Far Attack is somewhat his Tyrant Rave
  • Named Weapon: Initially wields the Junkyard Dog which contains the Fireseal. Strive Sol upgrades the Junkyard Dog to become a wieldable version of the Outrage
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: You'd fear a name like Badguy but he is actually the main character. It's also a moniker to prevent authorities from recognizing him.
  • Older Than They Look: When he became a gear, his aging came to a stop. In fact he was born in the 1980s which explains how he became a big Queen fan
  • One-Winged Angel: Again, his Dragon Install form.
  • Parent-Child Team: If he and Dizzy are on the same team
  • Playing with Fire: Sol has flame powers and the base of his weapon is the Fire Seal. His rapid attack is a very fierce version of Gunflame
  • Red Baron: The Guilty Gear and the Flame of Corruption
  • Red Hot Masculinity: Providing the image of that trope, he is a brash and bulky bounty hunter with a deep voice and flame powers. Most of his clothing and his weapon are colored red.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Somehow the blue to Ky's red. Sol is usually stoic and deadpan while Ky is fervent as he dishes out what he believes is justice.
  • Reverse Grip: Wields his Junkyard Dog and Outrage MK.II in the same manner as his favorite lead singer
  • The Rival: To Ky Kiske. It wasn't pretty at first, but it's been mellowed down to Friendly Rivalry by Xrd.
  • Shoryuken: Sol’s Near Attack is Volcanic Viper

    Dizzy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dizzy_4.png
The Child of Light and Darkness
Role: Gunner
Voiced by: Kazue Fujita
Illustrator: Hidehiko Sakamura, Daisuke Ishiwatari
Theme Song: One Dawn
"I will fight too...for my family"

The Princess of the Gears is half-gear and half-human. Dizzy has an honest and pure heart, treats nature and people with the utmost love and respect, and hates conflict to the extreme. She is the wife of Ky Kiske and the mother of her son, Sin. She was freed from her seal during the Cradle Incident

For more information, see Guilty Gear X

  • Actual Pacifist: Other than being pushed into it to defend other people or Necro takes over for her, she has an extreme distaste for violence of any kind. This gets to the point with her playstyle where she understands the concept of Capture the Flag which is not about killing but about taking the most points possible. Her pacifism is shown with a hero ability called "I don't want to fight in this battle" where she captures keys faster than everyone else, a hero action where she expands key areas, and her hero skill is just her inadvertently coercing the opposing team to be stunned by barely managing to stop Necro causing destruction.
  • Apologetic Attacker: A Technical Pacifist and a Wide-Eyed Idealist who is always horrified at the levels of violence her sentient wings can inflict. Shows how she is always apologizing to her victims or begging for her wings to stop. She even asks if her opponent is alright after they get killed.
  • Battle Couple: If she and Ky are on the same team.
  • Colour-Coded for Your Convenience: Undine is the light and polite wing, while Necro is the obstructive and destructive wing
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: Dizzy's "Hero Skill", She is shown to fight away Necro as the lethal strike forms, making him misaim as the blast flies seemingly wild, exploding above the stage...which surprises the entire opposing team so much they are stunned.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Her signature hairstyle, though she is not the only guest with blue pigtails. Keep scrolling or look here
  • Glass Cannon: Has a fair 1.25x attack but there is no way that an average 1.05x defense can cover for that short 0.50x health. However, it makes sense for her to stay away from attacks as far as possible since she hates conflict.
  • Happily Married: To Ky
  • An Ice Person: Undine uses ice powers and Dizzy’s near attack is Ice Spear
  • Jekyll & Hyde: Dizzy herself and Undine are nice, Necro on the other hand...
  • Limit Break: Her Instant Super "Emotional Gamma Ray" has Necro having enough of this foolish battle and prepares a big blast to end it all. Dizzy pushes Necro back, causing him to misaim. Unfortunately, instead of the misfire leading to a big Fantastic Nuke in the background, making the opponent surrender, the misfire stuns every enemy even with guards up. Bypasses Ky's ability.
Necro: "It's over. Don't talk back"
Dizzy: "Hey, what?...(sees Necro charging his blast) Ah! Avoid it!
  • The Paralyzer: The Emo Gamma Ray stuns every enemy even with guards.
  • Parent-Child Team: If her and Sol are on the same team
  • Playing with Fire: Necro has fire powers and he is used for the rest of Dizzy’s card attacks. Far Attack uses his Flame Wheel, Area Attack uses his Fire Pillar, and his Rapid Attack uses Fire Daggers.

    Ky Kiske

The Thunder King in XRD
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/striveky.png
Almighty All-Rounder in Strive
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Takeshi Kusao
Illustrator: Hidehiko Sakamura, Daisuke Ishiwatari
Theme Song: Magnolia Eclair

"Restraint would be unwise."

One of the "consecutive kings" who govern the Illyrian Kingdom. Ky Kiskescherishes his wife Dizzy and his son Sin Kiske. In the past, he was the one who valued justice and order above all else and was also sincere and inflexible. Therefore, there were many scenes where he clashed weapons with Sol Badguy, who lived freely. Ever since he became a king, his enthusiasm has changed into a broad perspective and he has been able to think of more positions.

For more information, see Guilty Gear - Ky Kiske

  • Action Dad: Just like Sol, he is a father who also partakes in battles.
  • And Then John Was a Zombie: A rare positive example. Ky has become part-Gear upon marrying Dizzy. Too bad he can't use Dragon Install in this game with his Strive outfit.
  • Anti-Debuff: His Ability, "Let Me Show You Why There Is Thunder" doesn't allow him to be stunned by card effects. However, he is not immune to stuns from hero actions and skills such as Reiya's plasma charge and Secret Order, Rimuru's black lightning, Misaka's discharge field, Dizzy's Emo Gamma Ray, or even an opposing Ky Kiske's Rising Force. He is also not immune to the self-stun from the "UR [The Beginning of a Legend] Heroic Dasher" card
  • Battle Couple: If he and Dizzy are on the same team
  • Blue Is Heroic: He has blue lightning and blue clothes and he fights for justice.
  • Call-Forward: He has a Strive alt just like Sol. Pretty odd to see Strive Ky use Rising Force since he can't use that move in Strive
  • Dash Attack: His Hero Action, "Stun Dipper" gets him to slide forward and hit anyone in his range. However, it needs to be charged longer than Tadaomi and Sol's Hero Actions. On the bright side, this action can throw off any unguarded foe trying to use offense cards.
  • Death from Above: His Area Attack is Greed Sever
  • Foil:
    • To Ryu, both are starter characters from different fighting games, and the fact all of the card attack speeds for both of them are fast is a reference to how versatile they both are in any situation in a fighting game with a projectile, Anti-Air, and an approaching move. Ryu started the Shotoclone trend while Ky followed it.
    • Also to Mikoto Misaka. Both are electric-using attackers that revolve around stunning. They have similar hero skills that cause stuns (except Ky's has him lunge forward while Mikoto's has her shoot a long-reaching projectile). Though they have contrasting abilities. Ky can't be stunned by card attacks while Mikoto makes the stun from her card attacks last longer.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: In case you were unsure if he is a good guy. His son, Sin carries on this trait being more friendly and energetic than his dad. He also has blonde hair
  • Happily Married: To Dizzy
  • Interspecies Romance: Ky, a human, marries Dizzy, a Gear.
  • Limit Break: His Instant Super, "Rising Force." A powerful rushing stab that stuns anyone in range.
"The Great Mystery, RISING FORCE!!! Can you still stand up?"
  • Master of All: The main appeal of Ky is that he is fast with every type of attack card.
  • Named Weapon: Ky's Thunderseal. It has a different appearance in Strive
  • The Paralyzer: His Hero Skill, "Rising Force" causes stun to any victim unfortunate enough to be in front of him.
  • Promoted to Playable: Ky was once an SR card in the first GG Collaboration. A year later, he finally became playable to rock and duel with Sol and Dizzy. He started a trend of card characters becoming heroes like Son, Ruruka, Ram, Bell Cranell, Blaze Dragon, Amistad, and Sinon
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Somehow the red to Sol's blue. While Ky is fervent as he dishes out what he believes is justice, Sol is usually stoic, deadpan, and lives freely.
  • The Rival: To Sol Badguy
  • Shock and Awe: The powers he has consists of electricity. Makes sense why he is immune to card stuns and his Rising Force causes stuns.
  • Shoryuken: His Near Attack is Vapor Thrust
  • Super Special Move: His Rapid Attack is Sacred Edge which is a stronger version of Stun Edge
  • Sword Beam: His Far Attack is his Stun Edge

"The Live Show has begun!"

A pop and cute virtual singer, the Sound of the Future herself, Hatsune Miku takes the stage! Possibly the most famous Vocaloid. If one ever hears the word Vocaloid, there is a high chance Miku would come to mind. She is an idol that has a deep love for all of her fans. In this game, she is the team healer who can be good for defending and stalling portal key areas with her speed and auto-heal capabilities.

For more information, see Hatsune Miku

  • As Herself: Other than providing some character songs in this game, she voices herself in this game.
  • Combat Medic: Even though she is not usually seen fighting, she can still damage foes with her music notes and dash attacks.
  • Cosplay: Cosplays as Voidoll. They are both twin-tailed sprinters who play supporting roles in matches.
  • Fragile Speedster: Runs like every sprinter but her 0.75x defense isn't much to talk about. Though her Healing Factor makes up for it.
  • Genki Girl: She is always so cheery in her moves and animations
  • Girlish Pigtails: Like Dizzy before her, she also has blue-ish twin tails as her selling point.
  • Healing Factor: Her ability, "Healing Voice" grants automatic healing over time. It also grants auto-heal for any ally near her. Though the auto-healing for her nearby allies is faster than her own. Her hero skill "Let's Begin the Exclusive Live!" upgrades this for herself and her allies with a bonus of curing status conditions.
  • Healing Loop: Use an auto-heal card and you get an ever-regenerating twin-tailed idol that is hard to put down.
  • Heal Thyself: Her HP regenerating abilities.
  • Hotter and Sexier: Her append outfit has been accused of being oversexualized.
  • Iconic Outfit: Over all of the design variations that she's gone through, the one outfit that's held up is her original V2 design.
  • Idol Singer: She is a performer in many concerts, videos, and games. This is no exception. Just take a look at her and the name of her hero skill.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill, "Let's Begin the Exclusive Live" upgrades her Healing Factor capabilities for her team and cures any status conditions for any of her affected allies and herself, even when being frozen by Adam and/or Son and affected by Gustav's hero skill. This lasts for 15 seconds.
"Music Start! So then, let's go!"
  • Master of None: Offense is somehow not her forte. The speed for her near, rapid, and area attacks are normal and the speed for her far attacks is slow.
  • Milestone Celebration: Miku gains her Anniversary outfit as her 16th birthday celebration. Complete with her white Wings of Creation. The wing on her left is the “Wing of Form” and it’s made up of various illustrating objects. The wing on the right the “Wing of Sound” and it’s made up of various instruments
  • Mythology Gag: Some of her alts are outfits from her other voicebanks (v4 and append) and some of her alts are other works like Sakura Miku, her Senbonzakura fit, and her snow Miku alts that come out every year since 2019
  • Support Party Member: She doesn't tend to fight, but she heals allies near her.
  • Virtual Celebrity: Providing the image of that trope, she is the biggest example since she is by far the most popular Vocaloid that holds these kinds of concerts.

    Kagamine Rin

"Let's sing together!"

A 14-year-old virtual singer who has a distinctive big ribbon and blonde bobbed hair. Along with her other twin Len, they're classified as the second character voice (CV 02). They both come in a set of one voicebank package, allowing a producer to choose any or both of them. Whether they are siblings or opposite gender lookalikes is up to you. In this game, Rin is the Vocaloid with the highest amount of power since she is a gunner, specializing in long-range attacks. She plays both offense and support by staying back and powering up her allies' attack and defense.

For more information, see Vocaloid - Crypton Future Media

  • As Herself: Other than providing some character songs in this game, she voices herself in this game.
  • Ambiguously Related: They pretty much look alike and have the same last name, but they have no set relationship, leaving it up to the artist's interpretation. Who knows if they are siblings, a couple, or just two people who look alike for some cosmic reason
  • Brother–Sister Team: If you consider them siblings. When they are both nearby as foes or allies, their abilities "Mirror Twin's Bond" cause their skill meter to fill without a portal key area.
  • Cosplay: Cosplays as Soubiki Noho.
  • Glass Cannon: 1.35x attack is impressive but with 0.85x for both health and defense, don't expect her to win any endurance tests without a guard.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Even if she is tricky and rough, she is still kind.
  • Kiddie Kid: Contrasting Len's pseudo-maturity, Rin is usually portrayed as pretty childish. Her hero skill implies she tricked the other team by buffing up her teammates.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Not improbable for idol standards, Rin uses a mic to weaponize her voice. Her near attack even has her whack the opponent with it and her far attack lets her send out beams.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill, "Get Tricked By Rin" creates an area that sharply buffs attack and defense to allies around her. Doesn't change pierce attacks, Istaqa's eagle, and Chun-Li's Hoyokusen. Oddly her buff has a smaller effect
"Okay, I wonder if I can make this more exciting!"
  • Mythology Gag: Just like Miku, she has an Append and Senbonzakura outfit
  • Musical Assassin: Rin has the most amount of power compared to Len and Miku and she attacks with her voice and musical notes.
  • Status Buff: Raising attacks and defenses is her main gimmick. Her Hero Action powers up attack and defense to teammates in her cone-shaped range. Her Hero Skill takes this further when buffing up any ally near her.
  • Support Party Member: She can play both on the offense and support. She buffs up the attack and defense of her teammates with her hero action and skill.
  • Virtual Celebrity: Like Miku, she is also this since the Kagamines are possibly 2nd and 3rd most popular. They almost always follow Miku in concerts, games, and more.

"I think this live show will be great!"

A 14-year-old virtual singer who has a tied-back ponytail and short, spiky blonde hair. Along with his other twin Rin, they're classified as the second character voice (CV 02). They are 2 vocaloids for the price of one in a package, allowing a producer to choose any or both of them. Whether they are siblings or opposite gender lookalikes is up to you. In this game, Len is the one with the most defensive power since he got the tank role, specializing in defending portal keys. No matter where he is, he can speed up allies with his hero action, possibly to make matches end quicker.

For more information, see Vocaloid - Crypton Future Media

  • As Himself: Other than providing some character songs in this game, he voices himself in this game.
  • Ambiguously Related: They look super similar and share the Kagamine last name, but they have no confirmed relationship, leaving it up to the artist's interpretation. Who knows if they are family-related, in love with each other, or just two people who happen to look the same for reasons unknown?
  • Brother–Sister Team: If you consider them siblings. When they are both nearby as foes or allies, their abilities "Mirror Twin's Bond" cause their skill meter to fill without a portal key area.
  • Butt-Monkey: In various works, it's pretty common for Len to be this whether it be dying, embarrassing crossdressing, or otherwise picked on. Can be invoked if the entire enemy team fixates and targets him.
  • Cosplay: Cosplays as Justice. They are both tanks
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: He may be tough and tries to be mature, but he is still a softie.
  • Launcher Move: "Will you follow my soul beats" will bring any foe near him up in the sky.
  • Limit Break: His Hero Skill "Will you follow my soul beats?" gets him to play some beats so tough he emits shock waves around him for a short amount of time. Any foe that gets near him will get hit and sent upwards
"Now then, let's get way more hyped up!"
  • Master of None: His speed for Far, Area, and Rapid attacks are normal and his speed for Near attacks is slow
  • Mythology Gag: Just like Miku, he has an Append and Senbonzakura outfit
  • Status Buff: Along with Healing Factor, his hero action increases every teammate's speed no matter where he is.
  • Stone Wall: Len has a whopping 1.30x Defense and Health to make up for that below-average 0.90x Attack.
  • Support Party Member: Len is not usually seen fighting but rather defending. He also boosts every ally's speed with his hero action regardless of location.
  • Virtual Celebrity: Like Miku, he is also this since the Kagamines are possibly 2nd and 3rd most popular. They almost always follow Miku in concerts, games, and more.

Street Fighter

    Ryu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ryu_7.png
The Eternal Wanderer
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Hiroki Takahashi
Illustrator: Toshiyuki Kamei
Producer: Hideyuki Fukasawa
Theme Song: Theme of Ryu
"The answer lies...in the heart of battle"

The well-mannered and sincere protagonist of Street Fighter himself is seeking in pursuit to become the "true martial artist" by wandering throughout the world. His fighting style is based on Karate, but he uses other martial arts to create his unique style as he hones his true power. Having overcome the Satsui No Hado, he finds greater heights in the world of Compass.

For more information, see Street Fighter

  • Achilles' Heel: Counters are not his friend
  • Calling Your Attacks: Always in battle
    "Shoryuken! Hadoken! Tatsumaki Senpukyaku!"
  • Challenge Seeker: He is always in the search for worthy opponents.
  • Foil:
    • To Ky Kiske, both are starter characters from different fighting games, and the fact all of the card attack speeds for both of them are fast is a reference to how versatile they both are in any situation in a fighting game with a projectile, Anti-Air, and an approaching move. Ryu started the Shotoclone trend while Ky followed it.
    • Also to Megaman.exe, they both are Capcom characters who are fast at every card. Their difference is their roles. They both can fire off big powerful blasts but Ryu can use it once (but his skill meter fills up fast) and Megaman can use it a few times (but his skill meter fills up slowly)
  • Hurricane Kick: He uses his Tatsumaki Senpukyaku for his Area attack
  • Kamehame Hadoken: He uses the trope naming move for his far attack. Also in his hero skill, "Shinku Hadoken" he fires a big one that massively damages opponents in front of him.
  • Limit Break: His Super Art, "Shinku Hadoken" throws out a big aura wave that badly damages any unguarded foe. Also out speeds Tadaomi's hero skill
    "Shinku HADOOOOKEEEEEN!!!"
  • Master of All: Like Ky Kiske before him, his card attack speed for every kind is fast, fitting for the guy who started the main character Shotoclone trend.
  • Status Buff: His hero action will increase his speed and his next attack card will deal more damage. Plus said increased damage is also stacked with his ability "This Path is My Destiny" which already makes his card attacks deal more damage! So when he uses that hero action, you better be prepared for a world of hurt if you don't have a guard (unless he has a guard breaker). The speed buff disappears when he uses an attack card
  • Shoryuken: He uses the trope naming uppercut for his Near attack.
  • To Be a Master: He seeks to become the "true martial artist"
  • Walking the Earth: He traveled for so long, that he even traveled in different games such as this one.

    Chun-Li

The Blue Jade
Role: Sprinter
Voiced by: Fumiko Orikasa
Illustrator: Toshiyuki Kamei
Producer: Hideyuki Fukasawa
Theme Song: Theme of Chun-Li
"Want to see my Kung-Fu? I'll show you."

An ICPO investigator who fights with splendid foot technique. She became a detective at the age of 18 to investigate the death of her father by the clutches of M. Bison (Vega) and pursue him and the other members of Shadaloo and anything that could be connected to them. By now she has retired from Interpol, currently runs an orphanage, and became a Martial Artist advisor. She starts the trend of female fighters who are lighter, faster, and often favor kicks. She is THE Kick Chick

For more information, see Street Fighter II

  • Action Girl: She's THE example in fighting games, being the first prominent and well-known playable female fighter of history, and is also an Interpol agent who enters fighting tourneys to stomp out evil affiliations and forces.
  • Anime Chinese Girl: Sets the foundation of her iconic look with the Odango Hair, spiky bracelets, blue Qipao, and thunder thighs
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Hoyokusen's damage ignores defense boosts and guards.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She is friendly as long as you're not evil, causing crime, hurting innocents, threatening children, or poking fun at her thighs
  • Blue Is Heroic: She wears blue clothes and her attacks leave blue trails.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Gomen ne!" (Sorry!) and "Yatta!" (I did it)
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: She specializes in damaging enemies in quick (and numerous) succession as her hero ability "Come on now!" increases her Rapid cards' damage while decreasing their cooldown. This doesn't affect Pierce cards.
  • Foil: To Asuna. They are both female sprinters who are protagonists who rely on rapid tactics, damaging foes continuously on fast paces.
  • Hurricane Kick: Her Area Attack is Spinning Bird Kick
  • Kamehame Hadoken: Her Far Attack is Kikouken. Though it has a painfully slow startup
  • Kick Chick: THE Trope Codifier, one of the first female fighters ever, and is the most iconic example. Her legendary legs are her defining trait as they are the more muscular appendages than any other part of her body which suits her kicking-based fighting style.
  • Limit Break: Her Super Art "Feng Wing Fans (Hoyokusen)" has her kick her opponents at blinding speeds like Rapid cards. This also works like a Pierce attack since it goes through defense buffs and guards.
"This is the end! Haaaaaa! I won't miss this!"
  • Super Cop: She fires chi blasts and kicks at blinding velocities. Even the most vicious of criminals would fear of confronting her.
  • Superhero Sobriquets: "First Lady of Fighting Games"

Re:Zero

    Emilia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/emi_6.jpg
Lugnican Elf
Role: Gunner
Voiced by: Rie Takahashi (Emilia), Yumi Uchiyama (Puck)
Illustrator: Shinichirou Otsuka
Producer: MYTH&ROID
Theme Song: STYX HELIX
"Thank you, Subaru...for saving me"

Emilia is the main heroine of the Re:Zero series. She is a candidate to become the 42nd King of Lugnica. Subaru first meets her when Felt steals her insignia as Emilia needs to possess it to be eligible to participate in the election.

For more information, see Re:Zero - Emilia Camp

  • All-Loving Hero: Emilia is kind and helpful to everyone she meets, including those who discriminate against her just because of her resemblance to Satella, and she puts in all her effort to protect people from danger. Reflected in her playstyle being able to fill in the support role by healing her teammates.
  • An Ice Person: She attacks by having Puck fire ice shards at her opponents.
  • Armored But Frail: 1.4x defense that lets her stick around to cover her middling 0.7x health unless hit by Pierce attacks.
  • Good Wears White: Her hair and outfit are primarily white. She is the main heroine with a generous heart and helps any troubled person.
  • Healing Hands: Her hero action heals her teammates in a cone-shaped range.
  • Healing Factor: Her hero skill heals her over time.
  • Kill It with Ice: Emilia's attacking properties are ice.
  • Limit Break: Her Hero Skill "Great Spirit Ruling Over Fire - Puck" gets Puck to summon massive amounts of ice pillars that will attack anyone near Emilia automatically. This can't damage 100% guards or counters. It also cannot aim at Kirara when invisible.
Emilia: "Puck, please don't go too far"
Puck: "I abide by Lia's request, but I can't guarantee it"
  • More Dakka: Her Hero ability "I'll thoroughly defeat you" has her fire ice shards faster when she is in a portal key area from her team. Her Hero Skill also has Puck create a bunch of ice pillars to fire at her opponent.
  • Support Party Member: Her role is usually this considering her bulkiness that lets her stay alive at least to heal her opponents.

    Rem
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rem_3.jpg
The more popular Roswaal maid
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Inori Minase
Illustrator: Shinichirou Otsuka
Producer: MYTH&ROID
Theme Song: Straight Bet

"You're fanatical like a demon."

Rem is a character from the Re:Zero series. She is one of the maids working in Roswaal Mansion for Roswaal L Mathers. She is the younger sister who works on the cooking but it has been stated that she excels her sister, Ram in every area. Under the rule of Roswaal, a rude and venomous tongue. It can be said that her ability is all that the mansion needs to be maintained. At first, she suspects Subaru of being a Witch cultist because of the "Witch's Scent" she smells in him, leading to horribly gruesome ends in a few loops. After Subaru earns her trust by saving her life, she becomes attracted to him and is the second girl closest to his heart.

For more information, see Re:Zero - Emilia Camp

  • Action Girl: Rem is a very formidable adversary. Being a One-Maid Army wielding her Epic Flail. She is even more dangerous when she goes Oni Mode.
  • Advertised Extra: Rem is so popular she is seen in almost every promotional product. Heck, that's why she is even here alongside Emilia and not Ram, who would come a few years later.
  • Comeback Mechanic: Rem at low health will be able to deal heavy damage to everyone in her way.
  • Critical Status Buff: Her Hero ability "Rem is a Hero's supporter!" increases her attack in proportion to the health she lost when she takes damage
  • Epic Flail: Her weapon of choice.
  • Jump Physics: After some charge from her Hero Action "Let Me Clean Here", Rem jumps far and forward and hits the ground, knocking any enemies who were where she landed
  • Knock Back: Anyone who was where Rem lands from her super jump gets knocked down like Heroic Dasher and his landing from a jump.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill "Rem is Fanatical like a Demon" makes her turn to her Oni Form, becoming wild and crazy for a short amount of time! She will automatically run to the closest enemy and attack them, dealing massive damage, and not even guards can save them. Though she can't hurt counters or Kirara if she is invisible. Just like Sol Badguy, she is left vulnerable for 3.5 seconds after exiting her Super Mode.
" Ufufufufu.....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! No escape, no escape, NO ESCAPE!
  • Sibling Team: If Ram is on the same team as her.
  • Super Mode: Her Oni form is extremely fast and so powerful it shatters guards.
  • Tareme Eyes: Rem has soft, round, and blue eyes in contrast to Ram's Tsurime Eyes.

    Ram
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ram.jpg
The lesser known Roswaal maid
Role: Sprinter
Voiced by: Rie Murakawa
Illustrator: Shinichirou Otsuka
Producer: Makoto Miyazaki

Ram is a character from the Re:Zero series. She is one of the maids working in Roswaal Mansion for Roswaal L Mathers. She has an inferior status compared to her younger sister in every area. In the past, she had unparalleled power as a prodigy of the demon tribe, but not only did she lose her horns, she lost her powers too.

For more information, see Re:Zero - Emilia Camp

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: She is attracted to Roswaal even though he is a manipulative bastard who had a hand in the destruction of the village Ram and Rem lived in.
  • Blow You Away: Her attacking properties consist of wind.
  • Cast from Hit Points: When Ram uses a card, she takes recoil damage which is about 10% of her max health. If Rem is near her, her ability "Ram is Rem's older sister" prevents said recoil damage. Thomas can use his ability to reduce the recoil damage if Rem is not there. How helpful! A butler helping a maid.
  • De-power: When her oni horn got cut off, she lost her powers, which can be shown by the abysmal effects of her hero ability and skill.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill, "Ram loves Master Roswaal" has her activate her Oni Form. Her attack and speed will increase drastically though she won't automatically run to the nearest opponent like her sister Rem. Like Rem, she can also break guards but can't hurt counters. Because she lost her horn, there is one BIG problem upon getting back to normal. Her health will be reduced to only 1 HP and will be stunned for a bit so if anyone is around when she is stunned, This Is Gonna Suck.
"It's too late to apologize. Give it up. You'll regret making me serious"
  • Magic Wand: Her weapon of choice to compensate for her lost horn...by a little.
  • Promoted to Playable: On the first Re: Zero collab, she was an SR card. A few years passed and then she became a hero to battle with Rem and Emilia.
  • Sibling Team: If Rem is on the same team as her. She is the 2nd collab character with this trope.
  • Tsurime Eyes: She has sharper, edged, and pink eyes in contrast to Rem's Tareme Eyes

Konosuba

    Aqua
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aqua_3.jpg
Useless Goddess
Role: Sprinter
Voiced by: Sora Amamiya
Illustrator: Kurone Mishima and Koichi Kikuta
Producer: Tomoys Sonoda and Machico
Theme Song: fantastic dreamer

"To tell you the truth, Heaven isn't the dreamy place you all imagine it to be."

Aqua is one of the female protagonists from the KonoSuba series. She used to be a water goddess who guided humans into the afterlife but was inadvertently taken as a cheat item by the main character, Kazuma to the other world with him out of spite for the mockery of his demise. For both of them to return to their original worlds, they have to beat the Demon King. In Kazuma's party, she is in charge of recovery.

For more information see KonoSuba: Aqua

  • Adaptational Badass: Aqua is actually useful in this game, believe it or not. Her God Blow does something, and she can out-damage a handful of other sprinters. She is also a bit intellectually competent in this game (depending on the player) as the bane of shields and her unluckiness is never brought upon unless every enemy targets her.
  • Anti-Armor: Her dash attack "God Blow" and her hero skill "Sacred Break Spell" breaks guards. God Blow deals way more damage on guarded foes
  • Curtains Match the Window: Blue eyes and Blue hair because she is a water goddess. She thinks this is unique
  • Dispel Magic: Her Sacred Break Spell wipes out auto-healing, strength buffs, and breaks shields
  • Enhanced Punch: God Blow is a dash attack where she punches her opponent and breaks guards if her foe has any.
  • Jack of All Stats: All of her stats are an equal and normal 1.10x
  • Loser Deity: Aqua is famously known as the "Useless Goddess" as Kazuma puts it. Her intelligence is lower than a kindergartener, she is very unlucky, and she spends most of her stat powers on party tricks. She is the verbal punching bag for Kazuma.
  • Light 'em Up: Sacred Break Spell is a giant beam of light that is fired from above to knock away opponents.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill, "Sacred Break Spell" has her fire a giant beam of light on an area to knock away any opponents hit by it. Also removes Stat Strengths and breaks guards
"Seek salvation, repent, and expose yourself! Sacred Break Spell!"
  • Status-Buff Dispel: Her hero skill, "Sacred Break Spell" can also remove Healing Factor and any Status Buff on anyone caught in it.
  • Status Effects: Her hero ability "Give Blessings on this Useless Goddess" makes her suffer these 1.5x longer than everyone else. She really can’t catch a break

    Megumin
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/megumin_0.jpg
Crazy Explosion Girl
Role: Tank
Voiced by: Rie Takahashi
Illustrator: Kurone Mishima and Koichi Kikuta
Producer: Yujiro Okano and Machico
Theme Song: Tomorrow
"EXPLOSION!!!"

Megumin is one of the female protagonists from the KonoSuba series. She is an Arch Wizard of the Crimson Demon Clan and is said to be a highly capable magic user. She specializes in explosive magic, the highest class of magic. In Kazuma's party, she's in charge of the magical offense.

For more information, see Konosuba Protagonists

  • Adaptational Badass: In this game, she can actually do some kinds of offense other than just Explosion. Like everyone else, she automatically attacks anyone who is in her range by swinging her wand and she is fast when using Area attacks. She can use other kinds of card attacks but she is either normal or slow at using them.
  • Cast from Hit Points: After using Explosion, she will fall on the floor with 1 HP left. If she wiped out the entire team with the explosion, this would give her a chance to find a safe place to heal and recharge her skill before her foes respawn. If she used it at the wrong time and low health, This Is Gonna Suck .
  • Chuunibyou: Parodingly Deconstructed. While she is a super strong mage, she has a bizarre name and wears eyepatches just for extra style points and bandages, which are stapes for Crimson Demons. However, she is not a true chuunibyou because she is extremely aware of how absurd her people can be and passes it off as normal behavior for Crimson Demons.
  • Fantastic Nuke: If her health is full, the radius turns the explosion into this
  • Healing Factor: Her hero action has her restore health and charge up her skill meter without a key area.
  • HP to 1: What happens when Megumin uses Explosion
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill is her signature magical "EXPLOSION!!!". She casts a massive explosion around the portal key in front of her. Any victim unlucky enough to be in range will be obliterated. Even guards won't be safe from this blast. After this, her health will be reduced to 1. The explosion range depends on the amount of her health.
"Witness my overwhelming power! Cast forth! EXPLOSION!!!"
  • One-Hit Kill: Anyone (even with guards) caught in that explosion will be instantly killed. Duh. It's an explosion.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Her favorite and only move is Explosion.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Her playstyle revolves around charging up her explosion magic and then using it at the right time. Though like all tanks, she can defend too.
  • Your Answer to Everything: Explosions solve her problems by blasting them away.
  • Your Size May Vary: Not Megumin, but her explosion. Her hero ability "I don't want to lose in Explosion Magic" determines the size of her explosive hero skill depending on her remaining health.

Fate/Stay Night

    Saber Alter
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/salter.jpg
The Dark King of Knights
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Ayako Kawasumi
Illustrator: ufotable
Producer: Yuki Kajiura
"...I have come as bidden by the summons. Are you the one who is called my Master?"

The form of Saber after being blackened by the Shadow. She gets in the way of Shirou Emiya and others with huge mana supplied by the Holy Grail

For more information, see Fate/stay night: Saber (WARNING: Huge Fate/Stay Night Heaven's Feel spoilers)

  • Armored But Frail: Like the Knight she is, she is heavily armored which is shown by her bulky 1.35x defense. Though that 0.85x health is gonna hold her back.
  • Battle Aura: She is always seen radiating blackish purple and red aura.
  • Black Swords Are Better: After being corrupted by the shadow, her Excalibur has a black coloration with red patterns. It doesn't change the sword's overall strength.
  • Close-Range Combatant: Sporting this playstyle, she is very fast with Near and Area cards and her hero action has her get up close and personal with any foe in front of her. Even helps with the fact she has an overwhelming 1.45x attack!
  • Cool Mask: At the start of the match, she has one that covers the upper half of her face and fang-shaped chin armor to really put the Dragon in Pendragon. The former gets shattered if she dies and respawns for the first time in a match.
  • The Corruption: Not by Bugdoll who does that in this game. She was swallowed up by the Shadow and blackened by Aŋra Mainiiu before she even got into this game.
  • Charged Attack: Her hero action, "Vortigern: Hammer of the Vile King" gets her to dash forward and slice the opponent. She has additional attacks the longer the charge since it has 3 stages. 2nd stage charge, she does a slash then an upward strike, sending opponents upwards. 3rd stage charge, she does a slash, upward strike, then slams down.
  • Emotionless Girl: She is apathetic, callous, and indifferent about everything except her sheer power. She only prioritizes her victory in the matches of #COMPASS.
  • Foil: To Kirito. Both are well-known sword wielders with a 1.45x attack, dark clothing, and a multi-stage offense charge attack that can have them jump on higher platforms. The difference is that Kirito is more fragile.
  • Gathering Steam: Every time she kills a foe, her skill meter gains some charge
  • Jump Physics: She can use the 2nd stage charged hero action to reach a slightly higher platform.
  • Historical Domain Character: Like her original form, she is based on King Arthur. Though in the Nasuverse, she is a girl. Her full name is Artoria Pendragon and wields the sword, Excalibur.
  • Kill Streak: Killing foes charges her skill meter
  • Knock Back: The second and third stage charged hero action can send opponents upward and then downward respectively.
  • Lawful Evil: Her In-Universe alignment, following Aŋra Mainiiu's corruption. She takes her duties as a king seriously out of obligation to her fallen servants but considers a hero's duty to be abhorred and heeled, slicing down their opponents like paper without mercy and with full power, no holds barred.
  • Limit Break: Her Noble Phantasm "Excalibur Morgan: Sword of Promised Victory" has her shoot a giant Sword Beam that reaches across the stage, instantly killing any victim in front of her in its range. Bypasses guard cards. The hitbox is higher than it looks so Heroic Dasher and Levi can't jump over it.
"Brace for impact. Accept my blow. Excalibur MORGAN!!!"
  • Named Weapon: From Excalibur to Excalibur Morgan
  • Person of Mass Destruction: Unlike the brighter Saber who has a fair and chivalrous fighting style, Saber Alter will mercilessly take down anyone who stands in her way. Reflected on her close-range Attack! Attack! Attack! playstyle. Just like in her origin, she can repeatedly use Vortigern: Hammer of the Vile King if she wants.
  • One-Hit Kill: Any enemy hit by her giant Sword Beam is outright decimated.
  • Sword Beam: Her Noble Phantasm fires a giant one.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: Though more of an Anti-Hero, her clothes, aura, and her sword are all black and red.
  • Regenerating Mana: Her hero ability, "Servant of Makiri's Grail" increases her hero skill meter every time she kills an enemy.
  • Unholy Holy Sword: She wields the corrupted version of Excalibur called the Excalibur Morgan. It got its name from an evil Fae like Morgan.
  • Walking Spoiler: Her very existence is a spoiler and it is a huge surprise she got in instead of regular Saber. It is hard to talk about her in general (besides gameplay-wise) without mentioning what she is like in Heaven's Feel. In her origin, Saber is corrupted halfway through the Heaven's Feel route, making her a spoiler antagonist. However, in the movie trilogy of the same name, she is more of a Late-Arrival Spoiler

    Gilgamesh
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gilgamesh_7.jpg
The King of Heroes as seen in Heaven's Feel
Role: Gunner
Voiced by: Tomokazu Seki
Illustrator: ufotable
Producer: Yuki Kajiura

"Filthy mongrel."

A young man with blonde hair. His true identity is the Servant who participated in the Holy Grail War 10 years before the HGW in Fate/Stay Night. He watches the tide of the battle with Kirei Kotomine.

For more information, see Fate/stay night: Gilgamesh (WARNING: Huge general Fate/Stay Night spoilers)

  • Abnormal Ammo: Usual Archers use bows with arrows or other weapons that shoot projectiles. Gil uses his Gate Of Babylon to shoot out his infinite treasury of Noble Phantasms. They can tear through opponents if fired with enough force.
  • The Ace: Both in life and in battle. He is truly the king of heroes and there is nothing he can't achieve. Extremely rich, powerful, and charismatic enough to lead his countries and to a lesser extent, his team in #COMPASS matches. He is fully capable of winning Holy Grail Wars and maybe matches in this game if his arrogance and 0.85x defense don't get the best of him. He is also intellectually superior to everyone else and has a grasp on psychology with an iron grip.
  • BFS: His hero skill summons the sizable Ea.
  • Big Bad: In Unlimited Blade Works.
  • Born Winner: He is the richest king and the strongest Heroic Spirit, leaving everyone else, humans, servants, robots, bears, demons, dragons, gods, pop stars, walking birds, etc. below him lore-wise.
  • Catchphrase Insult: "Zasshu" (Mongrel) said in a slow and emphasized enunciation
  • Chain Pain: His hero action "Chains of Heaven" summons many restraining chains at an area that debuffs speed and defense for a short time. The longer the charge the farther the distance.
  • Chaotic Good: In-universe alignment. Nasu clarifies that he is the kind of hero who commits immeasurable amounts of good, but also does a lesser amount of evil. The good is only exercised on his terms and most of his good would be viewed as bad to everyone else. As the oldest hero in all of history, he always sees himself as a king first and most things as his property, so in his mind, his actions are all justified. Probably why he tried to rape Saber because he thinks he is above all else.
  • Combat Pragmatist: He only fights fair if he wants to and he pretty much abuses his enemies. However, he irks at anyone who does the same
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation: Lore-wise he is a multiversal-strength servant that can decimate anyone in his way, Here he can be beaten like everyone else.
  • Historical Villain Upgrade: He is based on the Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest surviving epic, and in the Nasuverse, he is more snarky and antagonistic as he started off in said epic.
  • Large Ham: His voice is as big as Ea and his status. He speaks in an "always riding his high horse" kind of way
  • Limit Break: His Noble Phantasm "Enuma Elish: the Star of Creation that Split Heaven and Earth". He summons Ea and creates a space-time dislocation area under an enemy in front of him. This pulls in other enemies, then breaks the ground, making any enemy caught in the area fall to their demise. This ignores Guards but enemies who also use their hero skills can't be killed this way. The pull speed is slower than Maria's hero skill so anyone with a somewhat fast-moving speed can fight off the pull by walking in the opposite direction of it.
"Fuhahah! My time is now! Behold the star that splits the skies and land! ENUMA ELISH!"
  • More Dakka: If the opposing team has more key points than Gil's team, he fires more projectiles depending on the number of points the opposing team has thanks to his ability, "Humanity's Oldest King of Heroes"
  • Recurring Element: Started the antagonistic gunner trend, with Bugdoll, Akutagawa, and Accelerator after him.
  • Walking Spoiler: While his appearance here makes no secret to his true identity, his noble phantasm, powers, and even his character description reveal who he is, making him another Late-Arrival Spoiler like Saber Alter because he is already broadly shown in Heaven's Feel, in the original visual novel, his original identity isn't revealed until way late in the Fate route, and his existence leads to the most of the important revelations in that route.
  • Will Not Tell a Lie: He doesn't lie because he has no need to.
  • The Worf Effect: In Heaven's Feel, he gets eaten by the Shadow. If he dropped his guard, this would've made more sense

The Sword Princess
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Saori Oonishi
Illustrator: J.C Staff, Suzuhito Yasuda
Producer: Watanabe Shou, Sasaki Hiroshi
Theme Song: RE-ILLUSION

"Let me teach you how to fight"

Despite being only 16 years old, she is an adventurer who won fame in the Labyrinth City Orario. She is known as the Sword Princess. She is one of the strongest members of the Loki Familia

For more information, see Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? — Loki Familia

  • Armored But Frail: 1.30x defense to cover that 0.75x health. Pierce cards could give her trouble
  • Battle Couple: If she and Bell are on the same team. Bell benefits from this.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Saved Bell from a loose minotaur
  • Blow You Away: Her attacks and powers consist of wind.
  • Child Prodigy: Achieved Level 2 only at the age of 8!
  • Foe-Tossing Charge: Her hero action "Ariel" has her leap forward with her wind powers and knock down any foe that was in the area where she landed
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: She is as friendly as her hair is blonde.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: She isn't called the Sword Princess for nothing.
  • Lady of War: Medieval swordswoman style
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill "Lil Rafaga" lifts her upward then charges forward akin to Ky's Rising Force. This breaks guards and sends enemies skyward. This also allows her to reach higher platforms in stages like Live Stage and Great Wall for example.
"Tempest! I won't lose! Lil Rafaga!"
  • The Quiet One: She doesn't speak much unless Bell is around.
  • The Stoic: She is usually quiet and shy but whenever Bell is around, she becomes pretty obsessed. This can be pointed out by her friends
  • Status Buff: Her ability "Sword Princess" grants her boosted movement speed for a few seconds when hitting someone with her hero action.

    Bell Cranel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/bell_0.jpg
Rabbit Foot
Role: Sprinter
Illustrator: J.C Staff, Suzuhito Yasuda
Producer: Kitani Tatsuya
Theme Song: Tentou

"I challenge you all! To be stronger!"

A boy who came to Orario dreaming of becoming a hero. He becomes the only member of the goddess Hestia and takes his first steps as a novice adventurer, but has since been growing at an unusual rate.Combined with his appearance he is called the record-holding "World's Fastest Rabbit". After a mortal combat with the heretic Minotaur Asterios (Xenos), he was ranked to Level 4.

For more information see Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? -- Bell Cranel

  • Battle Couple: If he and Ais are on the same team, his ability "Liaris Freese" increases his skill meter automatically (though it also increases if they're near each other even on opposing sides).
  • Foil: To Kirito. They are both stock light novel teenage protags who dual wield a black and teal blade, have similar attack stats, their hero skills consist of them charging forward, and are both voiced by Matsuoka.
  • Fragile Speedster: Runs pretty quickly yet has an average of 1x defense and 0.85x health.
  • Gathering Steam: Every time he hits opponents with Firebolt, his skill meter increases. Also increases gradually if Ais is nearby.
  • Limit Break: His hero skill "Argo Vesta" has him thrust forward with a sword wreathed in flames. This can break guards and the guard given by Heroic Dasher.
"Argo Vesta!!! I will never lose"
  • Playing with Fire: His attack properties consist of fire. Shown in his "Firebolt" dash attack where he throws a short burst of flames and his hero skill where he rushes with a flaming sword.
  • Promoted to Playable: He was once an SR card on the first Danmachi collab and a few years later he is now a hero to fight alongside Ais. He is the 3rd collab hero with this trope
  • Rhyming Names: BELL Cra NEL. It adds to his selling cuteness.
  • Rule of Three: He is the third character to be voiced by Yoshitsugu Matsuoka. NHN loves that guy they reeled him in thrice
  • Stock Light-Novel Hero: Like another collab character Matsuoka also voices, he counts as this. Though in his case, with a pinch of Stock Shōnen Hero. He starts weak and mostly shunned by society but he gets stronger in a short amount of time and unwillingly becomes a Chick Magnet. Unlike other stock light novel heroes, especially Kirito, he has albino hair and he looks out of place compared to other characters thanks to his attire.
  • Super-Speed: In his anime, Agility is his highest stat considering all the Screw This, I'm Outta Here situations he was in. He runs extremely fast and earned the title "Rabbit's Foot". In this game, this is why he is a sprinter.

Bungou Stray Dogs

    Atsushi Nakajima
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/atsushi.jpg
The White Weretiger
Role: Sprinter
Voiced by: Yūto Uemura
Illustrator: From Bungou Stray Dogs
Producer: GRANRODEO
Theme Song: TRASH CANDY

"I'll put up these tiger claws to survive!"

Atsushi possesses the unusual ability to transform into a huge and ferocious tiger. He was saved by Osamu Dazai and joined the "Armed Detective Agency"

For more information, see Bungo Stray Dogs Armed Detective Agency

  • A Beast in Name and Nature: Downplayed with 'Beast Beneath the Moonlight'; Atsushi can't control it without the aid of Fukuzawa. If he is exposed to moonlight, he can go from being a little nervous kid to a big hungry monster in seconds.
  • Animal Motifs: He transforms into a white tiger and his normal design also resembles a white tiger.
  • Animal-Themed Superbeing: He becomes a white tiger
  • Close-Range Combatant: His offense playstyle has him rush up to his enemies for a dash attack and follow up with Near or Rapid card attacks which he is fast at.
  • Cosplay: Cosplays as Tadaomi since they are both skilled at close combat. Though he makes the outfit more white tiger-themed.
  • Enemy Mine: The fact he and Ryunosuke get status buffs when they are on the same team is a reference to how they both work together to take down more villainous and stronger foes.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Aside from being part human, he is also part tiger.
  • Light Is Good: His hair and clothes are all white as he is the protagonist of Bungou Stray Dogs
  • Limit Break: His hero skill is "Beast Beneath the Moonlight: Half-Human Half-Tiger". He transforms into a partial tiger and his attack and speed get buffed up. This also grants him Healing Factor.
"Today is the day I will unload this burden. Extraordinary power, "Beast Beneath the Moonlight: Half Human and Tiger! I can hear you."
  • Mana Burn: His dash attack "Claw Strike That Cuts Superpower" decreases his targeted enemy's skill meter.
  • Only Sane Man: Compared to his quirky co-workers at least.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Appropriately the blue to Ryunosuke's red and it's not just because of their glowing powers. Atsushi is very friendly and gentle while Ryunosuke, on the other hand, is extremely hostile, ill-tempered, and will kill anyone who stands in his way.
  • The Rival: To Ryunosuke Akutagawa. When they are near each other, both of their abilities activate, buffing their stats.
  • Status Buff: His ability "New Strength: Human and Tiger" increases his defense if he and Ryunosuke are close to each other as allies or foes and he screams "AKUTAGAWA!!!" His hero skill also boosts his attack and speed

    Ryunosuke Akutagawa
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/akutagawa.png
Black-Clad Mafia Leader
Role: Gunner
Voiced by: Kensho Ono
Illustrator: From Bungou Stray Dogs
Producer: SCREEN Mode
Theme Song: Reason Living

"It doesn't matter how many times this body breaks!"

A member of the vicious Port Mafia, whose territory is a port. Wearing a black cloak, walking around the city is like a grim reaper

For more information, see Bungo Stray Dogs Port Mafia

  • Armored But Frail: The reason why he has a low 0.65x health is that he coughs up a lot since he lived most of his life in the slums which had bad air and gave him an illness called Pleurisy. He makes up for this drawback with 1.40x defense.
  • Casting a Shadow: Ryunosuke’s powers consist of darkness thanks to his ability to control clothing and how he controls his coat, Rashoumon.
  • Cosplay: Cosplays as Adam since they both wear long, black clothes. Ryunosuke even keeps his right eye shut as Adam does.
  • Enemy Mine: The fact he and Atsushi get status buffs when they are on the same team is a reference to how they both work together to take down more villainous and stronger foes.
  • Evil Wears Black: One of the most dangerous Port Mafia members and also wears a black coat.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: He hates anyone who Dazai likes more than him. In fact, one of the main reasons why he hates Atsushi is because Dazai sees him as a better subordinate than Ryunosuke.
  • Long Range Combatant: To parallel Atsushi's rushing up close playstyle, he attacks from a distance and walks slowly yet menacingly. He is also fast with far-card attacks (which is normal for a gunner) and area attacks.
  • Limit Break: His hero skill "Rashomon: Prison Jaws" makes his coat turn into a monstrous jaw that chomps up all health of anyone unlucky enough to be in front of him.
"And here I am keeping my promises. Rashoumon! Prison Jaws!"
  • Master of Threads: Ryunosuke’s Murakumo (Near Attack), Endless Gate Jaws (Rapid Attack), Sawarabi (Hero Action), Higanzakura (Area Attack), Prison Jaws (Hero Skill) are all done by his power of clothing control called Rashoumon
  • Mighty Glacier: Overwhelming 1.45x attack, 1.40x defense, and range to account for how slow he is.
  • Recurring Element: Another Antagonistic Gunner
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Appropriately the red to Atsushi's blue and it's not just because of their glowing powers. Ryunosuke is bloodthirsty and vile in contrast with Atsushi's meek and soft nature.
  • The Resenter: Always resents Atsushi without a second thought because Ryunosuke has spent a lot of time trying to win Dazai's respect but to no avail while Atsushi got Dazai's respect just upon meeting.
  • The Rival: To Atsushi Nakajima. When they are near each other, both of their abilities activate, buffing their stats.
  • Say My Name: Atsushi yells out his last name if they are close by.
  • Spikes of Doom: His hero action “Rashoumon: Sawarabi” summons a line of spikes that deal repeated small damage and knock enemies away. The longer he charges this, the further the range.
  • Status Buff: His ability "New Strength: Disastrous Dog" increases his attack speed and damage output if he and Atsushi are close to each other as allies or foes. He yells out "WERETIGER!!!!"

Sword Art Online

    Kirito
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kirito.jpg
Role: Attacker
Illustrator: abec
Producer: Yuki Kajiura
Theme Song: swordland

"My life is yours. Let's be together until the last moment, Asuna."

A boy who got caught up in the death game "Sword Art Online". He emerged as a solo player, the alleged "Black Swordsman", and led the game to a clear outcome

For more information, see Sword Art Online - Kazuto Kirigaya

  • Battle Couple: If he and Asuna are on the same team. Their attack stat gets boosted when they are near each other
  • Charged Attack: His hero action, "Charging Combo". When you hold down the screen, Kirito will charge for a rushing attack. The longer the charge, the longer the distance. The first stage charge is a simple rush that pushes opponents. The second and third charges can Knock Back opponents.
  • Close-Range Combatant: His skill kit is built upon this playstyle with fast speeds on near, area, and rapid card attacks. His hero action gets him to rush up on opponents and attack from there while the opponent is knocked back.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: His other outfits are various avatars he had in ALO (both Fairy Dance and Calibur), GGO, and Underworld.
  • Foil:
    • To Bell. They are both stock light novel teenage protags who dual wield a black and teal blade, have similar attack stats, their hero skills consist of them charging forward, and are both voiced by Matsuoka.
    • Also to Saber Alter. Both are well-known sword wielders with a 1.45x attack, dark clothing, and a multi-stage offense charge attack that can have them jump on higher platforms. The difference is that Saber Alter is more bulkier.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: All of his sword skills were from the VR RPG games he played.
  • Limit Break: His hero skill is the "Starburst Stream". He will slash 16 times as he moves forward and the range increases over time.
"I'll attack all at once! Starburst Stream!"
  • Status Buff: If Asuna is nearby as an ally or foe, his ability "Sword Dance of Black and White" boosts his attack.
  • Stock Light-Novel Hero: Part of the trope image and possibly the Trope Codifier since he is the most well-known example. He is an average high school student who cluelessly gets a harem that fights for him and is a Godlike Gamer in virtual RPG games. In SAO he gradually gets stronger, making him the best warrior of the game. Subverted in Alicization where he is underpowered and favors more of Bash Brothers with Eugeo, then a Power Trio with Alice.

    Asuna
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/asuna_6.jpg
Role: Sprinter
Voiced by: Haruka Tomatsu
Illustrator: abec
Producer: Yuki Kajiura
Theme Song: luminous sword

"I will protect you, Kirito-kun...from now on and forever."

A girl who got caught up in the death game "Sword Art Online". She has the nickname "Flash" and was the sub-leader of the guild "Knights of the Blood Oath"

For more information, see Sword Art Online - Asuna Yuuki

  • Battle Couple: If she and Kirito are on the same team. Their attack stat gets boosted when they are near each other
  • Blade Spam: Her dash attack has her stab repeatedly which hits thrice and her Hero Skill has her charge forward while stabbing at blinding speeds
  • Continuity Cavalcade: Just like her boyfriend, her other outfits are based on the various avatars she had in SAO, ALO, GGO, and Underworld.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Asuna’s strategy specializes in this. Running up to her opponents and then stabbing them multiple times
  • Foil: To Chun-Li. They are both female sprinters who are protagonists who rely on rapid tactics, damaging foes continuously at fast paces.
  • Girly Bruiser: She can take down foes Kirito couldn't handle with her speed and strikes.
  • Hair Color Dissonance: Her ALO outfit has light blue hair as opposed to her usual peachy hair
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: Like Kirito, all of her sword skills were learned from the VR Games she played.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill, "Mother's Rosario" has her thrust forward and repeatedly stab enemies 10 times then does a final lunge that One-Hit Kill enemies in front of her. Also pierces through guards.
"I will do this now! TAAAAA! Mother's Rosario!"
  • Red Baron: She is known as Flash for her speed in SAO, which translates to being a sprinter that boasts high attack, especially when Kirito is nearby.
  • Screaming at Squick: In one Menu animation, Kirito comes asking Asuna to cook up a toad leg Kirito found while hunting. Referring to a Callback of a comedic scene from the source material, Asuna screams at it and throws it away immediately leading to Kirito chasing after it. She calls him an idiot after that.
  • Status Buff: If Kirito is nearby as an ally or foe, his ability "Sword Dance of White and Black" boosts her attack.

    Sinon

the Ice Sniper of GGO
Role: Gunner
Voiced by: Miyuki Sawashiro
Illustrator: abec
Producer: Yuki Kajiura

“Thank you for waiting…Kirito, Asuna.”

Gamer girl from the Guns and Steel MMO 《GGO》(Gun Gale Online)A sniper who loves to use the long rifle "Hecate II"

For more information, see Sword Art Online - Shino Asada

  • Cosplay: Sinon cosplays as this game’s Kirara and Game Bazooka Girl.
  • Foil: To this game's Meg Meg. They both wield guns and shoot enemies from afar with their hero actions that involve holding their guns and aiming. However, Meg Meg's hero action deals more damage the closer her enemies are while Sinon's hero action deals more damage the farther her enemies are (thanks to her hero ability)
  • Cold Sniper: She is dubbed the Ice Sniper due to her calm and collected demeanor, though this is a beneficial trait for a sniper in GGO.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: Just like her friends, Kirito and Asuna, she has some outfits from the other games she has played, Alfheim Online and Under World.
  • Friendly Sniper: Outside of battle, she is pretty polite and kind.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: She developed her sniping skills through her games, just like how Kirito and Asuna developed their sword skills.
  • Jack of All Stats: Her stats are pretty balanced, sporting a 0.95x attack, 0.9x defense, and 1x health.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill "The taste of a defeat-announcing bullet" prepares her Hecate II and shoots a thin, long-reaching beaming bullet that One-Hit Kill any foe in its range. It won't wipe out any 100% guarded foes though.
  • Long-Range Fighter: Her battling specialty revolves around this. She is fast with only far attacks (slow with other card attacks), her hero action "Long Range Sniper" snipes enemies from afar, her hero ability "Ice Sniper" makes her attacks deal more damage depending on how far her target is, and her hero skill is a thin yet long Instant Kill shot.
  • Promoted to Playable: She was once a UR card but now she is here to duke it out alongside Kirito and Asuna. She is the 4th collab hero with this trope
  • The Straight and Arrow Path: Downplayed. Other than wielding a sniper rifle, in her ALO and UW outfits, she wields a bow which is the closest thing to a sniper in those games. However, oddly enough she still wields the Hecate II for her hero skill while wearing said outfits.

A Certain Scientific Railgun

    Mikoto Misaka

the Electric Princess
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Rina Sato
Illustrator: Kiyotaka Haimura, J.C. Staff
Producer: fripSide (Yoshino Nanjo)
Theme Song: only my railgun

"It's never a dull moment in this city"

The 3rd place of "Level 5" with only 7 other people in Academy City. She is an Electro Master who freely manipulates electricity.

For more information, see A Certain Magical Index Mikoto Misaka

  • The Ace: of Tokiwadai. Being a super powerful esper, a skilled athlete, and a straight-A student.
  • Alliterative Name: Misaka Mikoto.
  • Cosplay: Cosplays as Meg Meg. She even has her makeup.
  • Cuteness Proximity: to Frogs, especially a mascot frog named "Gekota". She has a frog mask for her festival outfit and she also wears Gekota P Js.
  • Foil: To Ky Kiske. Both are electric-using attackers that revolve around stunning foes. They have similar hero skills that cause stuns (except Ky's has him lunge forward while Mikoto's has her shoot a long-reaching projectile). Though they have contrasting abilities, Ky can't be stunned by card attacks while Mikoto makes the stun from her card attacks last longer.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Has a Hair-Trigger Temper, she is vengeful, and petty. But she means well, kind-hearted on the inside, and loyal to anyone who has her respect and friendship.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill is her signature "Railgun: Super Electromagnetic Gun" which has her shoot out an electrically and magnetically charged coin forward, hitting foes in front of her. If any enemy is hit by the side, they will get stunned, even if guarded, though any enemy being unfortunate enough to be hit by the center will get instant killed
    "Here is my full power!!!
  • Magnetic Weapons: She doesn't use one. She IS one. Just a simple coin flip then flick can destroy basically anything in her way. She uses her controlled electricity to make the invisible rails for her railgun.
  • The McCoy: To Accelerator's The Spock
  • Modesty Shorts: Providing the trope page, Mikoto wears shorts behind her skirt, much to Kuroko's distaste.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Even if you're a local or not in the esper city, you, like any average person would fear someone with the name "Level 5 Railgun".
  • Onee-sama: To Kuroko and many admirers. The former says this romantically a lot.
  • Shock and Awe: Her powers consist of electricity. She can control it in all sorts of ways since she is the Electro-Master
  • The Paralyzer: Like the skilled Lightning ace she is, her skill kit revolves around stunning. Her hero action creates a discharge and it gets bigger when you hold down the screen. The longer the charge the more damage, the longer the discharge radius, and the longer the stun duration caused when you let go. Her hero ability "Electro Master" makes the stun from her card attacks last longer and deal more damage to stunned foes. Her hero skill stuns anyone who gets hit and survives it as well.
  • The Rival: To Accelerator
"I won't let you touch any of my sisters!"
  • Taunt Button: If she uses an Appeal Animation near a vending machine, she will do the "Chaser Kick" for the vending machine to dispense the energy cans.

The One Who Wields the Power of God

Theme Song: sister's noise

"Clean up? I'll have this done in three minutes."

The strongest of the "Level 5" espers with outstanding power. Having the power to manipulate any vector at will with an advanced arithmetic ability

For more information see A Certain Magical Index Accelerator

  • Anti-Armor: When Accelerator slams the ground after jumping, he can shatter shields
  • Anti-Debuff: Zig-Zagged.As long as he has any skill meter charge, his ability "One Way Road" makes him immune to status effects from card attacks and reflects them back at enemies with halved status effect duration but all of this costs some usage of his skill meter. If he has no skill meter, He will get knocked back
  • Armored But Frail: He is this big time. With an overwhelming 1.50x defense but 0.45x health. Any source of big or pierce damage can end him immediately.
  • Attack Reflector: His Redirection powers bounces back any status effects aimed at him to the sender
  • Close-Range Combatant: Odd for a Gunner, he is slow with Far attacks but fast with every other attack.
  • Cosplay: Cosplays as Thomas and Reiya. For his Thomas cosplay, Thomas' rapier is his walking stick with a tiny plush of Last Order. For his Reiya cosplay, he uses Reiya's board as his walking stick.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Everyone calls him Accelerator. He doesn't recall his original name so he rolls along with it. Who knows? Maybe His Name Really Is "Barkeep".
  • Evil Laugh: YES
  • Jump Physics: Accelerator's hero action has him charge up a bit then jump forward. The longer the charge, the longer the distance
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: When Accelerator enters the battle, he says "I will clean this up in 3 minutes" which refers to how long #COMPASS matches usually are
  • Limit Break: His hero skill "Highly Ionized Air (Plasma)" compresses air to create plasma that pulls in enemies and deals major damage to any foe unlucky to be in the center
"Compress...Compress...Kukukikiko KAKAKAKAKA! It's amazing! It's like I'm controlling this space like it's my own body!"
  • Mighty Glacier: Walks slow but has maxed-out 1.50x attack and defense that covers that middling low health stat he has.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: By far the strongest among all of the Level 5 espers and able to split continents.
  • Recurring Element: Yet Another Antagonistic Gunner
  • The Rival: To Mikoto
  • Squishy Wizard: He has automatic Nigh-Invulnerability but if it is somehow negated, he will be physically weak. Reflected upon his 1.50x defense and 0.40x health meaning Pierce card attacks can finish him off.
  • Superpower Lottery: His Redirection powers are one of the biggest examples of this.
  • The Spock: To Mikoto's The McCoy
  • You Will Not Evade Me: His Plasma can pull in his opponents

Chainsaw Man

    Denji
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/denji_6.png
The titular Chainsaw Man
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Kikunosuke Toya
Illustrator: From Chainsaw Man
Producer: MAXIMUM THE HORMONE

“You’re in my way…DIE!”

The Chainsaw Devil, Pochita signed a contract with Denji. He is now the Devil Hunter who becomes Chainsaw Man

For more information, see Chainsaw Man - Denji

  • Absurd Cutting Power: His overall strength as a fighter thanks to his 3 chainsaws.
  • The Berserker: Denji's overall playstyle considering he will always go on full offense when fighting devils with near reckless abandon and he has a maxed-out 1.5x attack stat.
  • Can't Live Without You: Due to his Dark and Troubled Past, Pochita fuses with Denji's heart when the latter is about to kick the bucket, making him the most selfless devil ever. Pochita sustains Denji's life as long as he follows his dreams though it seems like Denji can't live without Pochita now.
  • Chainsaw Good: After Pochita assimilates Denji's heart, he can grow chainsaws out of his hands and head.
  • Foil:
    • To this game's Noho. They both are attackers who use chainsaws and have maxed-out attack stats. The difference is that Denji has more health while Noho has more defense
    • Also to this game's Al Dahab and Lovey, they all have bad defenses and rely on their health-draining abilities.
  • Foe-Tossing Charge: His hero action has him leap and strike down any enemy in his cone-shaped range. However, unlike other heroes with forward-striking attacks, Denji won't move from his spot until an enemy enters his range and is selected for attack, so this can't be used as a means of movement of his own.
  • Idiot Hero: Deconstructed, his idiocy comes from a horrific poverty-filled isolated childhood which has left him with No Social Skills, Book Dumb, and a Hair-Trigger Temper. Despite this, he's shown to be quite clever and insightful when it comes down to it.
  • Life Drain: His ability "It'll V a piece of cake" gets him to steal health from his foes every time he attacks (except for card attacks)
  • Limit Break: Denji's hero skill "GYAHAHHAHAA" gets him to run with his chainsaw arms spread out. Opponents hit by his arms while he is running will keep getting knock-back spammed as long as Denji keeps his direction. After running for a few seconds, he then uses a big Ground Pound, causing Instant Kill to any foe that happens to be where he is slamming.
“I’ll cut you up! I’ll drink your blood and recover! WITH THIS I FEEL COMPLETE!”
  • Milestone Celebration: For COMPASS's 7th-anniversary collab, he and Power are the first-ever collab heroes to come from a Shonen Jump source.
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Two of his outfits are just him shirtless.
  • Wolverine Wannabe: Alongside the Spider-Man Send-Up homage, Denji shares certain traits with a certain adamantium-clawed mutant: Retractable blades, canine motif, fighting in a wild, savage manner, tense partnerships with straight-laced comrades (Aki and later Yoshida) and the attraction to redheads. On a darker note, Denji also shares Logan's extremely bad luck with women, with many a potential love interest dying messily.
  • Work Off the Debt: Denji spent his youthful years indebted to the yakuza who demanded outrageous sums to pay for his father's debt. He hunted devils, sold part of his organs, and even humiliated himself in public to amuse the goons while barely keeping up with the interest. In the end, they sacrificed him to a Devil anyway. Good thing Pochita gave Denji a second wind when that happened...at the cost of the former's life.

    Power
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/power_43.png
Fiendish and Devilish with Blood
Role: Sprinter
Voiced by: Fairouz Ai
Illustrator: From Chainsaw Man
Producer: TOOBOE
Theme Song: Tablet

“Prostrate yourselves, humans! For I am Power!”

A blood demon belonging to the 4th Section of the Public Security Anti-Demon Singularity.

She became Denji's buddy by Makima's order

For more information, see Chainsaw Man - Main Characters

(Also for her self-demonstrating page, see Power)

  • Awesome, but Impractical: Her Blood Hammer dash attack. Sure it can deal big damage to anyone smashed by it but because of this kind of dash attack, unlike other Sprinters, Power won't brake then change directions, and said dash attack is not an Always Accurate Attack when she runs up to an enemy. Every time Power runs and you let go of the screen she will always slam the hammer down. This may leave her vulnerable when irresponsibly used.
  • Blood Knight: She loves fighting and killing other devils. Gets thrilled in battles.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: She is the only hero that actively shows blood, considering she is the blood fiend devil.
  • The Ditz: So dumb she makes Denji look smart...she won't admit it anytime soon.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Hates vegetables and anything bitter.
  • Fake Boobs: Her subtle Jiggle Physics may have you thinking she has sizeable breasts but they're just fake paddings. She traumatized Denji when he found out.
  • Full Health Bonus: Her ability "My name is Power!" starts with a Status Buff to her attack as long as she has more than 75% health left. The buff will be gone once her health goes below the threshold.
  • Know-Nothing Know-It-All: Power claims to be the smartest out of the entire roster by having an IQ of 100...which is just average.
  • Large Ham: By Fairouz Ai tradition, her voice is as big as the hammer she wields.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill "It's a Game! It's a Game! It's a Battle!" has her jumping high in the sky and slamming on a single enemy three times she aims at with her range.
“Don’t move from there, human! Don’t get away! It’s over! I’M THE BEST AFTER ALL!”
  • Milestone Celebration: For COMPASS's 7th-anniversary collab, she and Denji are the first-ever collab heroes to come from a Shonen Jump source.
  • Rule of Three: She slams 3 times with her hero skill and has 3 outfits to choose from.

    Zack and Rachel

Isaac Foster and Rachel Gardner
Role: Sprinter
Voiced by: Nobuhiko Okamoto (Zack), Haruka Chisuga (Rachel)
Illustrator: Negiyan
Producer: Jin, Masaki Endo
Theme Song: Vital

"Zack, do you understand the rules?"

"Yeah, Rachel..."

A young scythe-wielding murderer covered in bandages and with him, a girl who lost her memories. They appear out of nowhere on the night of a full blue moon and don't talk about their pasts. Their real names are Isaac Foster and Rachel Gardner

For more information on both of them, see Angels of Death

  • Abusive Parents: Both of their own respective parents never loved them.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Reflecting on his lack of intellect but extreme strength, his strategy in #COMPASS is this. Attacking up close at every opportunity with a near or dash attack.
  • Ax-Crazy: Or in this case, Scythe-Crazy. Zack resides in the tower purely because he was informed he can kill whatever and whenever he wanted
  • Big Brother Instinct: Despite vowing he will kill Ray one day, he forms a soft spot for her.
  • Brains and Brawn: Rachel and Zack respectively. Zack gets her to tag along to solve puzzles and come up with strategies to go through the Tower floors to escape and Zack can muster up the strength Rachel can't.
  • Close-Range Combatant: He favors Dash Attacks (especially his One-Hit Kill Dash Attack) and Near attacks which require being up close and personal with his target.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Using Zack's hero skill on any foes who set up a 100% guard or Counter is not recommended as the former can just be reduced to 1 damage and the latter can send the damage back at Zack. In both cases, the effect wears off after using his Hero Skill
  • Dumb Muscle: Illiterate but strong
  • Healing Factor: Their ability "Zack, Don't Move" has Rachel healing Zack if he is still. Perfect for recovering damage if stunned.
  • Limit Break: Their hero skill "I Swear I Will Kill You" powers up Zack's next dash attack to become a One-Hit Kill. This wears off after using said boosted dash attack. Kirara can't be targeted if she is invisible.
Zack: "Ray! Hope for me and swear to me."
    Rachel: "Okay. I swear."
  • Sinister Scythe: Zack's weapon
  • The Stoic: Rachel's default personality. Nothing can ever bother her or change her expression, not even Zack's various attempts to intimidate her which is why he refuses to kill her until she is actually scared.
  • Token Good Teammate: Despite having big mental issues, Rachel is the only Tower member who is not a bloodthirsty psycho.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Not really bright or knows any other tactics, but he has a great attack stat and his hero skill powers up his next dash attack to become an Instant Kill.
  • When All You Have Is a Hammer…: Or in this case a scythe. He only relies on Near attacks and Dash attacks especially when his Dash attack becomes an instant kill if he uses his Hero Skill.

    Monokuma
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/monokuma.jpg
Self-Proclaimed HPA Headmaster
Role: Tank
Voiced by: TARAKO
Illustrator: Komatsuzaki Rui
Producer: Masafumi Takada
Theme Song: DANGANRONPA

"It's time for the killing!"

A mysterious bear who claims to be the headmaster of Hope's Peak Academy. He is made with a white half-body with a cute atmosphere and a black half-body with an evil expression. At first glance, he seems to be just a stuffed animal, but he moves around freely in a mysterious way. He locks Makoto Naegi and his friends in the school and tries to induce murders by creating a series of hopeless situations in order to force them to play "the killing game" with the right to escape.

For more information, see Danganronpa — Monokuma

  • Action Bomb: The mini Monokuma can explode, causing major damage and Knock Back.
  • Area of Effect: His hero action creates a checkered circular area, setting up a class trial that debuffs the stats of any enemy that is in the area (complete with class trial railings)
  • Batter Up!: Monokuma's rapid attack has him launch up a thousand baseballs from his bat which is a reference to Leon's punishment (11037)
  • Bears Are Bad News: He is a bear and he is beary bad.
  • Big Bad: Of every Danganronpa game as the host for the mutual killing games.
  • Cool Bike: Monokuma's area attack summons a bike that drifts around him. A reference to Mondo's punishment. He even says "I'll churn you like butter".
  • Construction Vehicle Rampage: Monokuma summons an excavator when using a Near-attack which is a reference to Alter Ego's "punishment"
  • Cosplay: He cosplays as his series' Makoto and Junko. He also cosplays as this game's Marcos'55 and Luciano.
  • Evil Laugh: Does this when he is the best player in the winning team.
    "Upupupupu...Daaaahahahaha!"
  • Hypocrite: Monokuma has an ability that says violence is not allowed, even though he can cause violence.
  • Killer Teddy Bear: A killer small bear that drives people to murder each other causing grizzly situations filled with pandamonium.
  • Limit Break: His hero skill "Ultimate Desperate Journey To Space" gets him to press the punishment button to summon a rocket that will pull in any foe who is closest to him in this attack's range. The punished victim will be launched away in the rocketship that explodes, instantly killing them. It can even reel in guarded and countering enemies. A reference to the "Blast Off" punishment from the beginning of Trigger Happy Havoc.
"I've prepared a special punishment for you! Can't take my eyes off of you"
  • Strapped to a Rocket: His hero skill reels in and traps the nearest victim in a rocket then blasts off.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: The mini-Monokuma and the rocketship. Megumin would get a kick out of this.
  • Taking You with Me: His hero ability "Violence Is Against The School Regulations" is similar to Noho's ability. When he dies, a Mini-Monokuma is spawned follows his killer for a few seconds, then explodes. The explosion also breaks a foe's Bearrier.
  • Your Size May Vary: In the home screen he is small like he usually is. Before the match starts, however, he grows in a compensatable size so he is tall like everyone else.

    Levi Ackerman

Humanity's Strongest Soldier
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Hiroshi Kamiya
Illustrator: Hajime Isayama

Theme Song: Guren no Yumiya

"I want to put an end to this recurring nightmare, right now."

A squad captain inside the Survey Corps. He is known as humanity's strongest soldier, and his comrades call him "captain."

For more information, see Attack on Titan: Levi Ackerman (Warning: Unmarked spoilers!)

  • The Ace: Among the human forces, he is the most skilled warrior.
  • Breakout Character: He is so popular he got a spin-off manga based on him and he became this game's A.o.T guest character instead of the protagonist, Eren.
  • Children Forced to Kill: The inevitable fate for an orphan in an underground city.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Usually talks like this.
  • Face of a Thug: That menacing look in his eyes can make his comrades rumor that he is a former criminal. Turns out that was true
  • Gathering Steam: Every time Levi hits an enemy with any attack, his attack stat increases and stacks until the Status Buff reaches 1.7x. Resets after 6 seconds.
  • In a Single Bound: His hero action uses his Omni-Directional Mobility Gear. He jumps up higher than Heroic Dasher. If there is a foe in his range, he will hook on them to dive at them, knocking them down with his Snap Blade. This can't target Kirara while invisible, however.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Rude, mean, all around unpleasant to be with. But he does care for his comrades.
  • The Leader: Squad Captain and World's Strongest Man. He is one tough leader
  • Limit Break: His hero skill is "I need to be able to cut you cleanly". He will use his signature Spin Attack and roll forward with his blades, instantly killing anyone in his way and then around him. His charging stops when he hits a wall or portal key
"I'll deal with all of you at once!"
  • Neat Freak: Obsessed with cleaning so much he even cleans his sword handles after a battle. He even has the famous cleaning outfit in this game
  • Spectacular Spinning: Levi spin-dashes with his blades straightforwardly at high speed.
  • Speed Blitz: His method of fighting. Even Mikasa can't keep up with him

"I'll blow everyone away in 8 seconds!"

A streamer who has top-level skills in FPS/TPS and loves games. She likes cat powder, games, and sleeping

For more information, check out her channel

  • Ascended Fanboy: Initially she was just a VTuber who was playing #COMPASS as an "Official Player Without Permission", but 3 months later she got invited to the official #COMPASS TEPPEN tournament stream as a guest, and 2 months later after that, she became a hero in the Chokaigi 2019 event.
  • As Herself: She voices herself in this game considering she is a VTuber.
  • Badass Normal: She doesn't have any magical or supernatural abilities but she has weapons that can give foes a world of hurt.
  • Cats Are Lazy: She is a cat girl and her hobbies include eating, gaming, and sleeping. Barely working
  • Cat Girl: What she is. Complete with cat ears and feline mannerisms
  • Frying Pan of Doom: One of her weapons of choice. Uses this for near attacks.
  • Glass Cannon: Maxed out 1.50x attack, yet average 0.95x defense and even worse 0.50x health. She later received much better survivability by increasing both to 1.25x and 0.6x respectively.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill is "Relief Supply Rocket Launcher Drop". She shoots a signal flare that makes Hinata-shaped fireworks and airdrops a care package with a rocket launcher inside. The package drops near the portal key in front of her. When she opens the package and wields the rocket launcher, she shoots normal attacks that Instant Kill though she drops it after a few seconds. Picking it up doesn't grant invincibility, however.
"I'd like the same day delivery, please. I'll use this to blast your face!"
  • Real-Time Weapon Change / Stance System: Her hero ability is "Weapon Chaaaaange!". When she appeals, she can swap from an assault rifle to a shotgun and vice versa. This also changes normal attack damage, range, and moving speed.
  • Shotguns Are Just Better: One of her weapons of choice, changing how she attacks.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The weapons she uses are similar to her weapon loadout from PUBG. A game she normally streams. The pan she uses for her near attacks is...well the Pan, the shotgun seems to be the SPAS-12, her assault rifle might be the M16A4 and her sniper is the M24
    • The text "せやな, わかる, 知らんけど" in her hero skill are snippets of the lyrics from the song "Seyana (Akane-chan will listen to whatever you say)" by GYARI (the song producer for her theme song). Hinata covers this song as well
  • Trick Bomb: Hinata's hero action throws a flash bang that stuns and obscures the sight of enemies for a second. The longer the charge, the further she throws. Guarded enemies won't be stunned but will be blinded anyway
  • VTuber: Nekomiya Hinata is a virtual YouTuber who debuted in 2018.

"El Psy Kongroo"

A 1st-grade University student who describes himself as a crazy Mad Scientist. His "true name" is Hououin Kyouma.

For more information, see Steins;Gate: Rintaro Okabe

  • Adaptational Badass: Not for him, but his gadgets. His Bit Particle Gun is just a toy gun that is used as a TV remote. Here, it can actually shoot small sparks of electricity. His Cyalume Saber is an imitation prop toy blade that can produce fake blood to recreate movie fights. Here, it can actually cut foes, dealing serious damage.
  • Badass Labcoat: At any given chance, he tries to invoke this with his wardrobe choices. Sometimes this actually works.
  • Catchphrase: "This is the choice of Steins;Gate" and "El Psy Kongroo"
  • Celibate Eccentric Genius: Okarin will have you know that he, like the great Sir Isaac Newton, still has his virginity entirely by choice. Not out of social awkwardness or inexperience.
  • Chuunibyou: Views himself as a wicked Mad Scientist fighting against some sort of The Omniscient Council of Vagueness. Anything in this act must have a foreign name or else it would not feel authentic. Mayuri is supposedly his hostage and not his friend. He secretly admits that it's a load of crap but it's A-Ok because he's having fun. He is actually doing this to keep Mayuri's mind off of her grandma's passing and move on. Also, the aforementioned Organization is real and it's known as the 300 Committee calls themselves SERN as a cover-up. Megumin would have a kick out of Rintaro.
  • Close-Range Combatant: Odd for a gunner, his Near and Rapid attacks come out faster than his far and area attacks.
  • Cloud Cuckoolander: A silly, whimsical, over-the-top Mad Scientist who lacks maturity for his own good.
  • Cosplay: Rintaro cosplays as 13 and Gustav
  • Expy: This game's Reiya is this to him.
  • Gathering Steam: His hero ability "Reading Steiner" increases his defense stat in proportion to elapsed remaining time. It activates when the match has less than 2 minutes left. A nod to Rintaro's study and experiments on time.
  • Geek Physique: Thin as a twig and barely athletic. Reflected by his poor health and defenses. Even a short staircase leaves him winded.
  • Goroawase Number: When Rintaro uses his hero skill, the number 0.252525 shows up in the Divergence Meter. It's a pun on Nico Nico Douga, the website that supports this game (2=Ni and 5=Ko though usually Go)
  • Guile Hero: Not a fighter so he relies on wits and inventions to get out of situations and win these matches.
  • Laser Blade: Rintaro uses Mayuri's Cyalume Saber for his near attack.
  • Limit Break: His hero skill is "The Choice of Steins;Gate". Okabe sets up his lab and launches a unique and original "Operation #COMPASS" which shrinks down the Portal Area of the enemy Key right in front of him. This wears off if the affected key is captured by himself or his teammates or if he uses this skill again on a different key.
"Operation #COMPASS, it's time to start the final phase! This odd world is now in my hands! It's the choice of Steins;Gate!"
  • Loon with a Heart of Gold: He is the protagonist and even if he has a Large Ham, is immature, or eccentric, he is all-around a kind man.
  • May the Farce Be with You: His Cyalume Saber is from the In-Universe movie franchise "Spark Wars" which is based on Star Wars.
  • Ray Gun: His weapon of choice is the Bit Particle Gun
  • Slime Girl: Okarin's Gelrin alt, which has him made entirely of gel, dripping out gel droplets when he moves. A reference to the Gel Bananas, Jelly Men, and Gel Mayuri.
  • Spam Attack: His hero action charges his gun. When he releases, he pushes back any surrounding foe with small damage and all of his normal attacks will multi-hit 5 more times. Extra hits have continuous attack compensation so every damage per hit will be lower than the last. This buff goes on for 8 seconds.
  • Trick Bomb: His Area attack is the Moad Snake
  • Vicious Vac: Uses a Vacuum for rapid attacks.

    Satou Shiroubyoue Tadanobu
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tadanobu.jpg
Defender of a Thousand Cherry Blossoms
Role: Tank
Voiced by: Nakamura Shidou
Illustrator: NHN Playart
Producer: Kurousa-P
Theme Song: Senbonzakura

"My name, a thousand years ago, was White Fox, and today, is Satou Shiroubyoue Tadanobu."

The reincarnation of the white fox was born in order to guard the Senbonzakura. He wields a blade to defeat the Azure Dragon who would let the tree wither.

For more information on his origins(?) see his page here (Note: Tadanobu in Cho Kabuki is portrayed a bit differently than his historical counterpart)

  • Asian Fox Spirit: He is a reincarnation of a white fox who was given to protect the Senbonzakura
  • Cherry Blossoms: His motif as a reborn spirit that defends a giant cherry blossom tree
  • Close-Range Combatant: His Near and Rapid attacks come out earlier than his Far and Area attacks.
  • Cosplay: His green and pink outfits are styled like Tadaomi and Ririka respectively.
  • Counter-Attack: Tadanobu's hero action is "Stance of a Strong Will". He raises his sword when you hold down the screen. Lift up your finger and he will attack. The damage of this attack increases every time he gets hit while he holds up his sword. If attacked enough times, he will send out a shockwave that knocks down enemies. He is immune to any form of Knock Back when holding up his sword.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Seems to be curious about the world around him, full of technology, considering he is a Samurai of old times
  • Healing Factor: His ability "Lights of Words" gradually recovers his health when his teammates are around. The healing rate rises in proportion to the number of teammates around him.
  • Kabuki Theatre: This portrayal of Tadanobu is from the "Cho Kabuki" concerts where he performs alongside Hatsune Miku, who is also in this game.
  • Large Ham: As per his theatre performance and samurai mannerisms, his voice is eccentric.
  • Limit Break: His hero skill "Hanabakure Senbonzakura" gets him to fuse glowsticks to form a bright pink sword. He summons the Senbonzakura itself creating an area that speeds up the cooldown of your cards and your teammates' cards.
"The two forces are calling to us, causing the Senbonzakura to bloom blossoms once again. Carry the weight of your voice! Oi! Oi! Oi! Oi!
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Wields a pink sword and his Ririka-style outfit has him all pink.
  • Samurai: Based on his real-life counterpart, he is an honorable samurai, complete with oriental clothing and katana.
  • Shout-Out: His Rapid Attack and Hero Skill are references to Cho Kabuki's gimmick where the audience uses Nico Nico Douga and posts live comments and wave pink glowsticks to make the Senbonzakura bloom again.
  • Tornado Move: For his Rapid attack, he swings his glowsticks to create a tornado

    Noctis Lucis Caelum

Current generation of the Lucis royalty
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Tatsuhisa Suzuki
Illustrator: Tetsuya Nomura
Producer: Yoko Shimomura, Yoshitaka Suzuki
Theme Song: Stand Your Ground

"Don't think I could hold back even if I wanted to."

The heir apparent to the Lucian Throne, Noctis' trials begin when he sets forth from the crown city in order to wed Lunafreya Nox Fleuret. In combat, he wields spectral weapons which he forges from thin air, a power possessed by those of his royal line

For more information, see Final Fantasy XV Noctis Lucis Caelum

  • Ancestral Weapon: His Royal Arms was passed on through many generations of the Lucis royalty and manifests his Armiger ability. floating weapons that can protect Noctis from harm's way.
  • Attention Whore: Takes great pride in his fishing skills and gets pouty when no one notices
  • Cool Sword: In typical Final Fantasy fashion. He wields his engine blade that siphons energy from enemies.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Blunt and filled with sarcasm at times.
  • Double Unlock: An odd case, Noctis is the only character with an absurd obtaining method. To get Noctis, you must get 3 FFXV collab tickets from the FFXV card gacha. The quickest way to get an FFXV collab ticket is to go for the 60-card pull which costs 5,000 BM as opposed to the single pull which costs 100 BM. So to even get Noctis, you would have to spend 15,000 BM. If you want to get one of his alt costumes, hope you don't mind spending another 15,000 BM.
  • Foil:
    • To Joker, they both are well-rounded lightning bruisers, originating from Japan Role Playing Games and have dark color palettes. The difference is their classes.
    • Also to 2B, they are both Attacker-class heroes who are also Square Enix protagonists with black clothes and wielding blades and bigger blades.
  • Heroes Gone Fishing: Literally. He is a highly skilled angler and gets excited when he sees a fishing spot.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Can get into battles quickly with his warp strike, has fair 1x defense with 0.95x health, and makes bruises on enemies with his 1.4x attack.
  • Limit Break: His hero skill is "End of World/Legacy of the Lucii" attacks continuously with a swarm of phantom swords, barraging the opponent with slashes in a circular area in front of him, and then he delivers the final blow, Armiger Unleased instantly killing opponents.
"I'll decide it with this move. HERE IS THE END!"
  • Magic Knight: Extremely proficient in swordplay and magic.
  • Master of the Levitating Blades: When his hero skill meter is full, his ability "Armiger/Phantom Sword" creates two phantom swords that will attack any foe with normal attacks. Added damage is approximately 17%.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: Short dark hair with youthful skin.
  • Teleport Spam: Noctis' hero action is his Warp Strike/Shift Break. He throws his sword to warp to where it is thrown. If a foe is in his warp range, he knocks them down. If charged longer than the required duration, he swaps weapons, increasing damage. This has 3 charge levels. First Charge uses his Engine Blade, Second Charge uses his Star of the Rogue, and Third Charge uses his Sword of the Tall and this knocks enemies down.
  • Throwing Your Sword Always Works: He can throw his weapons around and is fast, which in turn triggers his hero action above.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/joker_61.png
The Masked Rebel
Role: Sprinter
Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama
Illustrator: Shigenori Soejima
Producer: Shoji Meguro
Theme Song: Life Will Change
"Heh...just as planned."

A boy awakened as a "persona" user due to an incident. He is a high school student by day and a Phantom Thief at night

For more information, see Persona 5: Joker

  • Cool Mask: In Phantom Thief fashion, he wears one. Can be taken off when summoning Arsene.
  • Devious Daggers: His weapon of choice
  • Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors : Joker's gimmick revolves around exploiting elemental weaknesses considering the game series he is from. Just like in Persona, when Joker hits an opponent's weakness with an element that's stronger than their element, they get knocked down for Joker to act again. This is called '1 More'. This time he has 1 More as an ability with a dash attack that is applied by his element. This does not affect Nanigashi until Arsene is brought into the equation.
  • Fighting Spirit: Like all Personas, Arsene is this to Joker.
  • Foil:
    • To this game's Nanigashi. They are both black-clad sprinters and their abilities revolve around elements. Joker knocks down any opponent if they have an element that is weak to his element while Nanigashi has no element at all, ignoring Joker's 1 More ability.
    • Also to Noctis, they both are well-rounded lightning bruisers, originating from Japan Role Playing Games, and have dark color palettes. The difference is their classes
  • The Gunslinger: For his rapid special, he wields a gun.
  • I Have Many Names: Ren Amamiya, Akira Kurusu, The Protagonist, whatever you wanna call him.
  • Jack of All Stats: Above average attack and defense with great speed applied with being fast with every attack
  • Lightning Bruiser: A whopping 1.3x attack, 1.25x defense, and great speed as a sprinter covers all the roles needed for any situation! His 0.9x health won't even weigh him down.
  • Limit Break: For his hero skill, Joker summons his persona, Arsene. When he is active, all of his dash attacks will count as super-effective attacks and knock opponents down, regardless of said targeted opponents' attribute alignment. For extra measure, all of Joker's card attacks deal more damage, and Move-type cards increase. This lasts for an entire minute and he regains this upon death.
    Joker: Arsene!
Arsene: I have heeded your resolve. Vow to me. I am thou, thou art I...
  • Meaningful Name:
    • His codename is Joker. In a poker deck, the Joker is the wild card, representing infinite possibility, and is considered the equivalent to the tarot deck's Fool card, Joker's reigning Arcana. He's also a literal Wild Card, able to fill in for multiple roles in COMPASS.
    • His Canon Name is Amamiya Ren 雨宮 蓮: 雨 means rain, 宮 means palace, and 蓮 means lotus. The double meaning here is that not only is he the leader of the Phantom Thieves raining on palaces suddenly, but the lotus in Buddhist teachings is symbolic of purity and cleansing. The aforementioned flowers bloom beautifully even if they grow below the mud, similar to how he manages to make the best out of his situation after becoming a pariah and maintains his strong morals as he takes the role of the Phantom Thief seriously.
    • The surname from the manga, Kurusu 来栖, translates to "coming to roost". This applies to how he finds a Family of Choice in Sojiro and the Phantom Thieves throughout the story.
  • Phantom Thief: What he is and what he is a leader of, carrying the nickname "Phantom".
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Downplayed. His casual outfits are simple but its pretty flattering and chic. His wardrobe choice helps reinforce his image as a clean-cut, unassuming young man.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Joker's treatment in this game, having the same stylized victory accurate to Persona 5 victories, the same alternate costume distributions, and an Arsene comeback gimmick that makes Joker hit harder is similar to how he is treated in Super Smash Bros.. His Near Attack is his up smash and his Area Attack is his down smash
    • Additionally, just like in Smash, his blue outfit resembles the color palette of Persona 3 and his red outfit resembles the color palette of his game.

    Ainz Ooal Gown
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ainz_39.png
The Strongest Magic Caster
Role: Gunner
Voiced by: Satoshi Hino
Illustrator: Hugin Miyama
Producer: Tom-H@ck, Masayoshi Oishi
Theme Song: Clattanoia

"In the name of Ainz Ooal Gown, defeat is impossible!"

The head of the Ainz Ooal Gown Guild, Ruler of the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick

  • Armored But Frail: An above-average 1.1x defense applied with the amount of health you'd expect a skeleton would have note
  • Conspicuous Consumption: Aside from his ability, he has 10 cash item rings. According to himself, any player like himself who values power spends money on cash items.
  • Evil Overlord: A more benevolent one than a truly evil one. He is the leader of the Great Underground Tomb of Nazarick, a magic fortress that appeared on a plain, and as soon as he feels like it's a safe maneuver, seizes large portions of territory from his nearest neighboring kingdoms, takes over the next closest, and is perpetually close to waging a war with a country of paladins and a theocracy. However, life under Nazarick Rules is better than most other kingdoms...if you're a citizen and not a criminal because those are reduced to Human Resources or slaves.
  • Lag Cancel: His hero ability "Cash Item" has him whale on the game, spending his money to give him advantages in the form of skipping startup activations of cards making him cast them instantly. This does not affect card attack speeds
  • Limit Break: His hero skill "The Goal of All Life is Death" gets him to cast one of his powerful spells, creating a clock-shaped area that counts for 12 seconds. Once those 12 seconds are up, the area surrounding Ainz will cause Instant Kill to any foe unlucky enough to be in said area no matter if they are guarded, countering, or even if you are Amairo taking a stance.
"Skill: The Goal of All Life is Death! Cry of the Banshee!"
  • Mighty Glacier: Aside from the below-average 0.7x health, he has an overwhelming 1.45x attack and decent 1.1x defense. Though he is pretty slow, he has to rely on his teleport powers to get around though this takes about a second.
  • Multistage Teleport: Ainz's Hero Action "Greater Teleportation" has him warp to an area up to 50 meters in front of him. This ignores platform height except for the B and D platforms in "Dash! Beautiful Castle". He can teleport over and over to get to farther distances.
  • Noble Demon: A mass-murdering monster who also knows how to surrender and doesn't cause needless unnecessary suffering.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Justified. His subordinates know him as Momonga and rechristens himself as Ainz Ooal Gown in the New World, which is the name citizens know him by. His actual name, Satoru Suzuki, is unknown to almost everyone in the story because he never uses it to identify himself or ever brings it up and it's very likely that his guildmates addressed him by his handle name of Momonga as well.
  • Our Liches Are Different: In his game YGGDRASIL, a lich (literally translated as Elder Lich) is a race class for undead spellcasters, evolving from the average basic Skeleton Mages. Their general appearance is a skeleton or a mostly decayed corpse with no phylactery. However, in the new world, their bodies are usually not the corpses of anyone in particular because undead spawn in places where there has been much deadly slaughter. Ainz's class, an Overlord, is something of a supremely upgraded version of a lich, which is usually divided into the sub-classes Overlord Wiseman (huge magic mastery), Overlord Chronos Master (uses time skills), Overlord General (inherits the power to summon and control undead entities).
  • Playing with Fire: He knows a good amount of fire spells and his Far Attack uses his Hell Flame move.

     2 B

YoRHa No.2 Type B
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Yui Ishikawa (2B), Hiroki Yasumoto (Pod 042)
Illustrator: Akihiko Yoshida
Producer: Keigo Hoashi
Theme Song: Bipolar Nightmare

"Glory to Mankind"

A blade of quiet will. A general-purpose combat model android dispatched as a member of the automatic infantry doll "YoRHa" unit. She has excellent close-range attack capabilities with various weapons, but can also attack at long range using the "pod" support system. Because they wear combat goggles, they rarely show their eyes. YoRHa Unit members do not have names and are all referred to by symbols. Although it is prohibited for them to show emotion, there are individual personalities for each model, and 2B has a relatively calm and collected personality

For more information, see NieR: Automata

  • Action Bomb: Her secret taunt is her "Self-Destruction" and it can be triggered in the Options Menu with "2B Options". This leaves her with 1 HP
  • Armor Is Useless: One of her alts is the Heavy Armor B. Just like the source material, this is just a cosmetic and does not give her any defense boosts.
  • Attack Drone: Pod 042 helps 2B in long-range shooting and area-range hitting.
  • BFS: One of 2B's weapons
  • Blade Spam: Her Rapid attack has her jabbing with the Cruel Arrogance spear.
  • Close-Range Combatant: Her fighting style revolves around fighting those Nier her. With a charging spin attack and being fast with Near and Rapid attacks, also sports a 1.35x attack to back it up.
  • Clothing Damage: Her skirt is destroyed when self-destructing.
  • Combat Stilettos: With advanced balancing programs, she can perform many complex movements better than any human.
  • Cosplay: She cosplays as this game's Violetta because they both have curvy builds and Amairo because they both wield katanas.
  • Foil: To Noictis, they are both Attacker-class heroes who are also Square Enix protagonists with black clothes and wielding blades and bigger blades.
  • Katanas Are Just Better: One of her primary weapons.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill "R050: Spear" has her create energy spears that form in 8 lines that deal small damage and stun any foe hit, even guarded foes and Ky Kiske.
    Pod 042: "Program Download Finished"
2B: "Make the difference in power. This is it''
  • Not So Stoic: Both 2B and especially Pod 042. There are times when she can't suppress her feelings any longer and for a machine with no feelings like Pod 042, his dialogue pauses explain a lot.
  • Rei Ayanami Expy: Stoic and Brooding personality? Check. Short Bobcut? Check. Non-human girl? Check. Male protagonist of her game befriending her over time? Check. Yep she counts as this
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: Like all Yorha androids, she is programmed with human feelings and emotions. She is even able to "bleed" and create tears from her eyes. Though 2B usually suppresses her emotions until 9S gets the best of her.
  • Robot Girl: The second robot girl on the roster next to Voidoll. She is a 2nd line Yorha unit type B.
  • Shout-Out: Her 2P costume originated from Soul Calibur VI.
  • Spin Attack: Her hero action has her charge forward, performing a spin splash that knocks away foes.
  • Stance System: Her hero ability is "Pod Program Change". Unit Pod 042 floats around her. Like Hinata and Cu Sith, her taunt cycles the Pod's weapons.
  • Waif-Fu: Curvy and slim but can kick ass like every other attacker.

    Rimuru Tempest
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rimuru_tempest_3.png
Slime-san
Role: Attacker
Voiced by: Miho Okasaki (Rimuru), Megumi Toyoguchi (System Voice)
Illustrator: Mitz Vah, Eight Bit
Producer: Agematsu Noriyasu, Fujita Junpei, Takuma Terashima
Theme Song: nameless story

"Discuss, ha...It seems impossible."

Satoru Mikami, a businessman, is involved in an incident and reincarnated into another world becoming a slime. Relying on the skills he acquired when he was reincarnated, he becomes friends with various races, despite being a "simple slime"

For more information, see That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime — Rimuru Tempest

  • All Your Powers Combined: They gain Status Buffs for anyone they assimilate, even if they have powered up different forms.
  • Anti-Debuff: Their hero ability "Raphael, the Lord of Wisdom" cancels out any weakening effect only from Cards. This can't negate stat debuffs from Coquelicot's Sleeping Beauty's Slumber & Inferno Shrieker, Monokuma's Trial Setup, Gilgamesh's Chains of Heaven, or debuffs done by trap cards. This also changes the System Voice.
  • Archangel Raphael: The true identity of the System Voice that accompanies Rimuru.
  • Badass Adorable: Both their slime and humanoid forms are so cute but it won't stop them from kicking asses with varieties of spells
  • Black Swords Are Better: Their weapon that was forged by Kurobee is a black sword.
  • Effeminate Voice: Satoru was a man who got reincarnated into a slime blob and their new human form looks like a cute girl (although they're in fact sexless). The anime and this game give them a high-pitched voice provided by a woman, making it even easier to mistake them for a girl. In fact, his voice changes from his old masculine voice to their new feminine voice during the process of him becoming a slime, with their feminine voice becoming official at the same time as his new body.
  • Glass Cannon: Overwhelming 1.45x attack to cover the below average 0.75x defense and 0.95x health.
  • Kill Tally: The System Voice mentions how many enemies Rimuru has killed.
  • Limit Break: Their hero skill "Beelzebuth, Lord of Gluttony" has Rimuru consumes an enemy in front of them, gaining any of the victim's status and speed buffs as well as any active "Normal Attack Health Drain" effect from said victim. They will also gain buffs from Sol's Overcoming Limitations & Dragon Install, Noho's Behind the Glasses, Ririka's hero ability and skill, Liberator Ruruka, Rin's hero skill, 13's buffs when he changes classes, both Rem & Ram's Oni forms, Pierre's hero skill, and any other enemy Rimuru with stat buffs.
"I don't think you're someone I can go easy on. Consume, Gluttony Lord!"
  • Martial Pacifist: Often prefers a peaceful solution but will resort to violence if the situation pushes them for it.
  • The Paralyzer: Anyone who gets hit by Black Lightning is stunned for a short time but if they are hit by upgraded Black Lightning will be stunned for a longer time.
  • Porn Stash: Played for laughs. A one-off joke was that for his last request as a dying human, he wanted his kouhai to destroy his computer.
  • Reincarnated as a Non-Humanoid: After being stabbed to death, he reincarnates in another world as a slime.
  • Shock and Awe: Rimuru's hero action is Black Lightning. When you lift your finger from holding this attack or when this attack reaches its charge limit, it will shock the targeted area with black lightning. The longer the charge, the further the distance. Any foe who gets hit by Black Lighting will take some damage and be stunned. However, if they are buffed with their hero skill, they will create 3 thunders that deal more damage and longer stun duration. Bypasses Ky's ability
  • Seven Deadly Sins: His hero skill uses Beezlebuth, Lord of Gluttony.
  • Slime Girl: Well Rimuru is a slime person but not a girl. As a slime, Rimuru is genderless.
  • Status Buff: Rimuru steals any of these if the victim they absorb has any buffs.

For more information, see Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation

  • Age-Gap Romance: Older than Rudeus by 3 whole decades
  • An Ice Person: Even if she is a Water Master, she learns some ice moves.
  • Area of Effect: Her hero action, Icicle Break. Aside from dealing damage when launching it, she leaves an icy area that slows down foes that step on it.
  • Cosplay: Cosplays as this game’s Alice
  • Damage-Increasing Debuff: Her ability “Water King Class Magician” makes her deal more damage on debuffed opponents.
  • Height Angst: Insecure about her childlike appearance, but Rudeus still cherishes her.
  • Limit Break: Her hero skill “Cumulonimbus” has her create a storm that rains and blows so hard it pushes opponents away in the direction she was facing.
  • Making a Splash: Despite her ice skills, her specialty is Water magic
  • Older Than She Looks: Is 40-60 years old but looks like a preteen.
  • Private Tutor: She has lived with the Greyrat family for a few years while she's teaching their son, Rudeus some magic skills. She lives at the palace of the Shirone Kingdom for a few years while teaching the 7th prince.
  • Robe and Wizard Hat: Big black hat and Big beige robe.

    Mega Man.EXE and Lan Hikari
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/megamanandlan.png
Dream Team of Two Dimensions
Role: Gunner
Voiced by: Akiko Kimura (Mega Man.Exe) and Kumiko Higa (Lan)
Illustrator: from Megaman Battle Network
Producer: Yoshino Aoki
Theme Song: Shooting Enemy

"Let's go Megaman! Battle Operation! Logged In!"

A bright and energetic 6th grader. Lan is not the best at school but his virus-busting skills are amazing. He and his Net Navi, Megaman, are best friends and make a good team in battles.

For more information, see Mega Man Battle Network

  • Alternate Self: One of the many alternate selves of the blue bomber, Mega Man. Instead of being Dr. Light's grandson, he is Dr. Tadashii Hikari's grandson
  • Arm Cannon: Busters is the default weapon for all navis, but Megaman is unique for keeping his Buster.
  • Blow You Away: His rapid attack uses the Tornado.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Well duh, he's Mega Man!
  • Book Dumb: He's not the best student in school. This means Lan was never book-smart and who knows if he's money-smart.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: Lan is heavily hinted to be this
  • Cooldown Manipulation: His hero ability, Battle Chip <<Quick Gauge>> will reduce the cooldown of any and only attack cards he has (Near/Far/Area/Rapid/Move)
  • Dub Name Change: In Japan and this game, they are named Rockman.exe and Netto Hikari. In English, they are named Megaman.exe and Lan Hikari.
  • Elemental Rock-Paper-Scissors: His Variable Sword can deal with any advantageous hits depending on what element you have against your opponent.
  • Foil: To Ryu, they both are Capcom characters who are fast at every card. Their difference is their roles. They both can fire off big powerful blasts but Ryu can use it once (but his skill meter fills up fast) and Megaman can use it a few times (but his skill meter fills up slowly)
  • Fusion Dance: One of Megaman.exe's outfits is the Gregar suit. This was when Megaman combined powers with Gregar Beast in Beast Out state. For balance reasons, this does not change anything in battles. It just gives him fancy animations.
  • Future Spandex: YES
  • Gatling Good: His far attack uses the Vulcan.
  • Green Thumb: His area attack uses the Bamboo Lance.
  • Glass Cannon: Great 1.35x attack but held back by his low 0.65x defense and below-average 0.90x health.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Megaman's near attack uses his arm sword.
  • I Was Just Joking:
    "Use the Dark Chip...just kidding!"
  • Limit Break: Megaman's Program Advance this time is <<Zeta Cannon>>. This gives Megaman the always-green Zeta Cannon card. When he uses it, he will fire off a big blast that can One-Hit Kill any unlucky foe. It has good range but it is painfully telegraphed so use it wisely a few times. This lasts for a few seconds. This will not bust any 100% shielded foes.
    Lan: "Cannon! Triple Slot In!"
    Both: "Program Advance! ZETA CANNON!"
  • Master of All: Megaman is fast with every card attack which points out how customizable Megaman can be. This comes in handy with his ability to cut the cooldown of attack cards. So if Megaman keeps on busting foes, he'll just keep on attacking like there's no tomorrow.
  • Sword Beam: Megaman's Hero Action, Variable Sword has him send out energy slashes. This is affected by his element as well since it changes colors. The longer you hold, the farther the distance and the number of slashes he'll do increases (up to 4 slashes).
  • Virtual Ghost / Was Once a Man: Megaman is actually the digitized mind of Lan's brother, Hub.
