Playable Characters

    Reisalin "Ryza" Stout
Voiced by: Yuri Noguchi
The main protagonist. Following the events of Ever Darkness, she became a teacher to the island's children, while also continuing her research to the point that she's reached her limits. However, that all changes during a trip to the capital to visit her friends, as an egg she was entrusted with hatches a strange creature...
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Ryza's new outfit has her wearing a thigh-high stocking and knee-high boot on her right leg only. Her left leg just gets an ankle-height boot.
  • Hotter and Sexier: She somehow manages this compared to the original game thanks to more revealing clothing. Her bikini in this game also ditches the already flimsy towel she had in the first to make her more bare legged.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Already quite attractive in her original game, she's grown into a absolute bombshell who wears much more revealing outfits, in addition to her white top becoming slightly translucent in the rain. One of the official artwork pieces shows her in the middle of changing her clothes, showing how low-cut her bra is.
  • Shipper on Deck: She quickly picks up that Patty is interested in Tao, and certainly approves.

    Fi
Voiced by: Misaki Watada

A strange creature that hatches from a stone egg. Trying to understand its origins is the cause of Ryza's new adventure.
  • Carbuncle Creature: Fi is a strange creature with a red gem on his forehead, big fluffy ears like a rabbit, cat-like hind paws, and wings.
  • Head Pet: Fi likes to perch on Bos' head whenever Ryza comes to talk to him. Ryza theorizes that it might have something to do with how his egg was a treasure of the Brunnen family.
  • Verbal Tic Name: How Fi gets his name, as "Fi!" is the only sound he makes.

    Tao Mongarten
Voiced by: Junta Terashima
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tao_ryza2.png
One of Ryza's old friends. In the years following Ever Darkness, Tao has become a great scholar on the mainland. He has also grown up, both in physical height, and when it comes to his courage.
  • Dual Wielding: His current weapon of choice is a pair of short swords.
  • He Is All Grown Up: In the previous game, Tao was the shortest party member. Three years later, he's grown into a good-looking young man who's so much taller that Ryza and Klaudia can barely recognize him the first time they see him.
  • The Not-Love Interest: Discussed in an event where Patty notes that Ryza and Tao are very close to each other (the fact that he and Bos are the only two of Ryza's friends present in the beginning of the game doesn't help). They then talk about how their relationship is purely platonic, with Ryza worrying about giving the wrong impression to those who see her.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Compared to Ever Darkness, he's noticeably more mature-looking, and gotten braver to the point of swapping out his magic hammer (which is used for ranged attacks) for Dual Wielding short swords in melee combat.

    Klaudia Valentz
Voiced by: Hitomi Ohwada
Another of Ryza's old friends, who has been working hard in the Royal Capital since their last adventure. She's swapped over to magic-powered bows as weapons from her flutes.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: This is still one of her defining character traits. Many of her character events show her seemingly feeling jealous about Ryza's friendship with Patty, and she eventually explains that this is because she knows that while Ryza can easily make new friends, it's much harder for her, so she wants to treasure her bond with Ryza as much as possible.

    Lent Marslink
Voiced by: Takuma Terashima
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lent2_ryza2.png
Yet another of Ryza's old friends, who went on a journey to better himself and protect others, which seems to have taken a toll on his emotions.
  • Heroic Build: He was already pretty much there in Ever Darkness, now his muscles have muscles.
  • It's All About Me: Lent developed a bit of an ego after being thanked and praised by grateful people whom he helped out. However, once he started encountering ungrateful villages who also became afraid of him, he lost sight of his original goal and hit a Heroic BSoD.

    Serri Glaus
Voiced by: Yukiyo Fujii
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/serri_ryza2.jpg
A member of Lila and Kilo's people, who is trying to collect a seed to purify her homeworld.
  • Demihuman: Serri is an Oren, though has much shorter "ears" than Lila, and fluff only on her legs.
  • Green Thumb: Her weapon is a magical armband which lets her control plants to attack.

    Patricia "Patty" Abelheim
Voiced by: Naomi Ozora
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/patty_ryza2.jpg
The daughter of a knight-turned-aristocrat in the capital city, who has been personally tutored by Tao.
  • Bodyguard Crush: Ryza quickly notices that Patty has feelings for Tao, her tutor and unofficial bodyguard.
  • Sheltered Aristocrat: She seeks to learn more about the world beyond her privileged lifestyle. The thought of experiencing the world outside of the city and exploring the nearby ruins triggers her curiosity, prompting her to follow Ryza and Tao into the adventure.

    Clifford Diswell
Voiced by: Eiji Takemoto
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/clifford_ryza2.jpg
A self-proclaimed treasure hunter trying to make it rich, even when looting ruins is both unprofitable and dangerous.
  • Battle Boomerang: Uses a boomerang as a weapon.
  • Cool Mask: Clifford hides his mouth with a black mask with three white claw marks on it, contributing to his cool, mysterious look. He takes it off once you've completed all of his character events.
  • Guest-Star Party Member: Joins your party for the first fight of the game, then parts ways with you. You don't see him again for a while afterwards, and he only rejoins your party several dungeons later.
  • Mr. Fanservice: His wildly impractical outfit seems tailor-made just to show off his toned physique
  • Loner-Turned-Friend: Clifford considers himself an outcast and is used to solo work, but he becomes a valued member of Ryza's party. In his final event, he says that although the treasure he was seeking was too dangerous to keep, making friends he can trust is worth more than any treasure.

Returning Supporting Cast

    Bos Brunnen
Both a friend and former bully to Ryza in the past, he's currently studying in the capital alongside Tao.
  • The Perfectionist: Bordering on Broken Ace. He's smart, strong, rich, and handsome, but feels unworthy to join Ryza on his adventures because he isn't as smart as Tao, as strong as Lent, etc. He refuses to allow himself any leisure time, focusing entirely on training and studying so he can feel as perfect as he thinks he needs to be.

    Empel Vollmer
Ryza's mentor in alchemy, who's currently investigating an impending danger.
  • Demoted to Extra: He was a playable character in Ever Darkness, but was reduced to a supporting role for this installment.

    Lila Decyrus
Empel's travelling partner, and another old ally of Ryza's.
  • Demoted to Extra: Like Empel, she went from a playable character in Ever Darkness to a supporting role.

    Romy Voler
Formerly a travelling merchant, Romy has now set up a permanent shop in the capital.

    Moritz Brunnen
Bos' father, and one of the prominent figures in Ryza's hometown.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: At the start of the game, he gives Ryza Fi's egg before she heads to the capital to visit Tao, requesting that she investigate its origins.

    Pamila Ibis
Now with brown hair instead of violet, she has returned to the capital to spread the word of Kurken Island's specialty pudding. She is later recruited into the Dolaria Bandits.
  • Legacy Character: Her last name is revealed to be "Ibis" in this installment, confirming that she is indeed the latest "Pamela" to appear in an Atelier title.

Other Characters

    Volker Abelheim
Patty's strict father, as well as the man Ryza rents a room from while in the capital. Formerly a knight, he has worked his way up to a title of nobility.

    Zephine Bodwan
A waitress that manages a local board of requests.

    Dennis Holland
The local blacksmith, who is usually friendly, but has a habit of focusing entirely on his job. He requests Ryza's help when entering a goldsmithing competition.

    Cassandra Capelli
A farmer from the territory near the capital. Though she doesn't enjoy the farm life, she feels like she's stuck in it as she barely makes enough to feed her sisters.
