Everything's Sparkly with Jewelry claims to be about how jewelry makes things more beautiful. In practice, many examples seem to just be "character wears jewelry". There are also concerns that the stated usage is subjective, as beauty isn't something that can be stated objectively.

50 wicks will be checked.

Something Made Prettier to The Audience

    Character Thinks Jewelry Is Pretty
  1. Characters.Helix Waltz: She has a particular fascination with gemstones, and her gems are considered outstanding throughout the continent.
  2. Film.Ludwig: Ludwig likes jewelry. For example, he wears a hat with a shining jewel on it. He also gives many jewels to his male servants-lovers.
  3. Recap.Merlin S 03 E 05 The Crystal Cave: A quintessential example in which Arthur switches a simple dagger for a Gem-Encrusted one in order to better suit Morgana's tastes.
  4. Manga.Crown: The Creepy Crossdresser requires payment in gems, since he wishes to cover himself in things as beautiful as he is.
  5. Series.Too Old To Die Young: While Yaritza is primarily featured as a death machine, she still loves shiny things. She gets her gun tricked out with diamonds and finds herself enamored with the expensive, decadent bottles at Dante's place.

    Character Has Jewelry / Jewels
  1. Unlimited Wardrobe: Throughout the film version of Evita, Madonna had undergone 85 costume changes (including 39 hats, 45 pairs of shoes, and 56 pairs of earrings), which is enough to earn her a spot in the 1996 Guinness Book of World Records!
  2. Anime.Howls Moving Castle: Pimped-Out Dress: Nothing too elaborate, despite the era, but Madame Suliman's dress shows off with the gold trimmings, jewelry, and a fur-trimmed collar.
  3. Characters.Bailey School Kids: She wears a green broach on a choker around her neck, and it's largely implied to be what allows her to walk around in daylight. Notably, when Mrs. Zork touches the jewel and it becomes dull, Mrs. Jeepers begins to panic.
  4. Characters.Jawbreaker: Marcie wear a necklace that say "FOXY".
  5. Characters.Katherine Rii: Katherine dons a necklace held together with golden beads as a cord and a blue gemstone in the middle.
  6. Characters.My Sims Kingdom:
    • Wears gold earrings and a necklace.
    • Has a single earring.
  7. Characters.Rune Scape Varrock: Wears a gold necklace.
  8. Characters. The Outpost: She wears a lot of jewelry.
  9. Characters.Velma: Victoria wears a necklace with a blue gemstone; if supplementary material is to be believed, it costs $2,800.
  10. Characters.Wings Of Fire Sea Wings: Most members of the royal family are shown wearing some piece of jewelry on their bodies, necklaces for most of them and armbands for Moray and Turtle. note
  11. Film.Oscar 1991: Anthony converts his petty cash to jewels, which he keeps in one of the bags that keep switching.
  12. Literature. The Great Gatsby: Daydream Believer: Gatsby really believes that millionaires are Gentleman Adventurers and his Multiple-Choice Past are stories everyone thinks are ridiculous... at first. But given Gatsby is The Charmer, he manages to make others believe, even for a little while, in his story. In chapter 4, he is confessing his past to the skeptical Nick:
"After that I lived like a young rajah in all the capitals of Europe--Paris, Venice, Rome --collecting jewels, chiefly rubies, hunting big game, painting a little, things for myself only, and trying to forget something very sad that had happened to me long ago."
With an effort I managed to restrain my incredulous laughter. The very phrases were worn so threadbare invoked that they evoked no image except that of a turbaned "character" leaking sawdust at every pore as he pursued a tiger through the Bois de Boulogne... My incredulity was submerged in fascination now; it was like skimming hastily through a dozen magazines.
  13. PlayingWith.Ermine Cape Effect: Princess Chiffon always wears an Impractically Fancy Outfit with Giant Poofy Sleeves, a wait ribbon, frills, flounces, pleats, goring, lace, jewelry, and lots of ribbons laced into her curly pink hair, even when she's sleeping, playing sports, or fighting off invading armies.
  14. Webcomic.Collar 6: Laura's personal slave collar has a band of real gold. Ginger's looks similar but is green. Trina's is black.

    Real Person has Jewelry
  1. Creator.Elizabeth Taylor: Famously adorned herself with diamonds—and we're not talking a tasteful solitaire or two. Her many, many multi-million dollar, diamond-encrusted ornaments are now considered museum-quality pieces.
  2. Music.Empire Of The Sun Band: Luke, both in and out of costume, likes his bling.
  3. Music.Pixie Lott: The Fashionista: So much so she has even contributed designs to high-end UK fashion label Lipsy and accessory chain Rock 'N Rose.
  4. Recap. The Muppet Show S 3 E 9: Liberace shows Statler and Waldorf his famous diamond rings.
  5. Wrestling.Sasha Banks: She has quite the selection of bling.

    Jewelry / Jewels Exist
  1. Orichalcum: Harvest Moon: "Orichalc" is used to create jewelry in some of the games.
  2. Valentine's Day Episode: Jewelry, roses, and chocolates. Valentine's Day (technically Saint Valentine's Day) is a big deal, and boy do writers know it!
  3. Characters. The Flash Rogues Gallery: He keeps the flame contained in a blue gem.
  4. Fanfic.Cinderjuice: Dragon's blood opal, to be precise.
  5. Film. The Sucker: The Cadillac contains precious stones in the battery and the biggest diamond in the world, the Youkounkoun in the car horn.
  6. Franchise.Barbie: The dolls have plenty of jewelry, as well as some jewelry themed dolls.
  7. Recap.Skip Beat Volume 25: Of all things to get spruced up with jewelry, it's a bouquet that takes the cake. The amount of flowers that Sho brought for Kyoko was huge, but the bouquet is also stuffed with swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls, and sprays of sparkling beads. One of Kyoko's coworkers notes that it looks like the decorations cost more than the flowers.
  8. VideoGame.Dwarf Fortress: Gem-Encrusted: Just about any physical object that does not rot can be encrusted with cut gems to increase its value. This ranges from ammunition and armor to furniture to decorations all the way to mechanisms and barrels. The example is about gems increasing value, but the pothole seems entirely random and irrelevant
  9. VideoGame.Hex: Instead of lands, gems called 'shards' are your resource. You can also socket many cards with 'gems' to give them extra abilities.

    Other Misuse
  1. ComicBook.Tomorrow Stories: Lapis Lazuli, back when she still called herself Laverne, designed a ray that turned things into sapphire. The ray accidentally hit her and turned her skin diamond hard and blue, and also gave her a form of immortality. Character turns things into / becomes sapphire
  2. Film.Love Guns And Glass: Subverted, when Brother Siu proposes to Yeuk using a wedding ring made of glass (hence the title). Yeuk agrees anyway despite knowing the ring is pretty much worthless, because she truly loves him no matter what. Character uses cheap jewelry
  3. UsefulNotes.Emojis: The Ring emoji on Mozilla Firefox OS 2.5 has sparkles. Literally sparkly jewelry
  4. VideoGame.Trauma Center: Sliding Scale of Shiny Versus Gritty: The surgery graphics started off somewhere in the middle and slid toward shiny in future installments. This culminates with Trauma Team, in which tumors are represented by red gems. The character designs, on the other hand, got a bit more gritty in New Blood. Gemstones used to represent tumors
  5. WesternAnimation.Disney Fairies: Exaggerated at the end of The Pirate Fairy by Tinker Bell, Iridessa, and Silvermist, diffracting moonlight through a diamond solitaire and bouncing it off mirrors and a splash from a water droplet, casting hundreds of points of light across a stadium full of fairies. Seems to take the trope name literally

    ZCE

  2. Characters.Eagle Eye Mysteries: Trope-name only
  3. Fanfic. The Rose And The Crown: Part of the Costume Porn surrounding Cinderella's outfits

  8. Series.Fresno: Trope-name only
  9. Series.Passions: Trope-name only
  10. VideoGame.Dead Rising: Can be used as a weapon, but not effectively at first.
  11. WesternAnimation.COPS 1988: Nightshade's favorite target.

    Unsortable
  1. Power Crystal: A Sub-Trope of Everything's Sparkly with Jewelry (why else would this power be contained in a gem?)
