Royal Edward Dano (November 16, 1922 – May 15, 1994) was an American actor who frequently appeared in Westerns and crime films. He started on the New York stage after serving in the U. S. Army during World War II. He is best remembered for The Trouble with Harry, 7 Faces of Dr. Lao, and The Outlaw Josey Wales. In addition, he was the voice of Abraham Lincoln for Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, an animatronic feature which premiered at the 1964 New York World’s Fair and subsequently played at Disneyland.
Dano was married to Peggy Ranck and the couple had two children. Actor Hutch Dano is his grandson.
