Playable Characters
BK
Class: Burger Lord → Burger King (swords)
- The Comically Serious
- Mighty Glacier: Close to having the worst Speed stat in the game, but his other stats are solid and can take him far.
- Not the Intended Use: Since he can still use his personal weapons when reclassed into The King's class (which is mounted), it's not uncommon to see him being reclassed just for the added mobility.
- The Protagonist
Sephiran
Class: Light Mage → Senator → Dracopope
- Combat Medic: As a Senator, can use light magic as well as staves.
- Deuteragonist
- Light 'em Up
- Straight Man: Plays this role in almost all of his interactions.
- The Strategist: He manages the army's roster and payroll, and advises BK along their journey.
Fiona
Class: Paladin
- Crutch Character: She's the archetypal Jagen of this hack. Starts promoted with a Silver Lance and enough power to demolish most early enemies in one round, but other units will eventually surpass her in combat.
- Horse Archer: The only Paladin who can use Bows, not counting the use of a B-side on a female character.
- Utility Party Member: Even after being statistically surpassed, she's often still used later in the game thanks to her solid selection of skills.
Hugh
Class: Mage → Sage
- Gameplay and Story Integration: Similar to Project Ember, Hugh is one point off from obtaining D-rank Dark magic, yet the lowest ranking traditional tome is Flux, which is also D-rank. This can be alleviated by making him a Dark Mage, but unlike Salem, he won't be able to use Anima or Staves with it. The hidden item Mungus can give him the one point he needs to obtain that dark rank if you decided not to use a B-Side on him.
- Item Caddy: Has a Luck-percent chance of obtaining a Red Gem every kill.
Chungis
Class: Axe Armor → General
- Practical Taunt: Can get Aggravate, which causes enemy AI to be more likely to target him. This is useful if fighting a lot of physical enemies and a squishy ally is nearby.
- Stone Wall
Dalvin
Class: Myrmidon → Hero
- Fragile Speedster: Not particularly bulky, but he’s fast at least.
- Heroes Prefer Swords
Sharlow
Class: Priest → Emperor
- Jerkass: Has a fairly elitist attitude.
- Tag Along Kid: He’s 10.
- White Mage
Matthis
Class: Cavalier → Paladin
- Butt-Monkey
- Practical Taunt: Starts with Aggravate right away.
Soldier
Class: Soldier → Halberdier
- Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": If they have a name other than just "Soldier", nobody else seems to know.
- Magikarp Power: A parody of the trend of giving playable soldiers high growths and low bases. They’ll take a fair bit of babying before they catch up with your army, but they’ll do well if you take the time to raise them.
Rebecca
Class: Archer → Sniper
- Fragile Speedster
- Not the Intended Use: Is often reclassed to Pegasus Knight so the player can have access to an early flier (even if it means your only other archer is Fiona).
Priscilla
Class: Troubadour → Mage Knight
- Magic Knight: Gains Swords upon promotion, along with being able to use Anima and the usual staves.
- White Mage
Sail
Class: Pirate → Berserker
- Glass Cannon: Especially around mages.
- Talk Like a Pirate
- Utility Party Member: Considered one of the best candidates for the Capture skill, letting him take the entire inventory of any unit (as long as his Constitution exceeds theirs).
Perne
Class: Rogue
- Utility Party Member: The only Rogue you get without use of B-sides.
Trude
Class: Myrmidon → Swordmaster
- Mighty Glacier: Despite what his caps may imply, he’s more Strength-oriented than Speed-oriented.
Lynhardt
Class: Dancer
- Existential Horror: Constantly.
- Humanoid Abomination: An amalgamation of Lyn, Reinhardt, and Linhardt, utterly horrified by the mere fact of their own existence.
- Utility Party Member: She’s your obligatory Dancer unit.
Salem
Class: Dark Mage → Sorcerer
- Starving Student: Wants to go to college badly, but tuition is expensive. You can sell his tuition for the value of a White Gem.
- Support Party Member: Uniquely enough, he can use Staves at base without having to promote.
Brown
Class: Martyr
- Beethoven Was an Alien Spy: This is 19th century abolitionist John Brown. He's capable of wielding magic and is good friends with Chungis.
Kaga
Class: Wyvern Rider → Wyvern Lord
- Art Shift: His portrait is a black-and-white photograph of the real man.
- Physical God: Well, he is the creator of Fire Emblem, after all.
- Revenge: Demands revenge against Maeda for something, though it seems he got the wrong guy.
- Vengeance Feels Empty: Once (Ko)Maeda is finally defeated, he feels remarkably hollow, even as he joins your party.
Radd Quetz
Class: Swordmaster
- Blade Spam: Learns Astra by level-up, and can learn Rightful God to improve his chances of proccing it.
- Heroes Prefer Swords
Tomas
Class: Warrior
- Art Shift: His portrait is based on his notoriously smug appearance in BS Fire Emblem: Archanea War Chronicles.
- Even the Guys Want Him: Samto refuses to accept that this could be his old friend Tomas specifically because of how attracted he is to him.
Generic Ilian
Class: Pegasus Knight → Falcoknight
- Fragile Speedster: Being a Pegasus Knight and all.
- Support Party Member: One of a small selection of fliers, and she comes with a great starting skill in White Pool. She can certainly do damage, but considering her low starting level, it might take a fair bit of investment.
ST4F-BOT
Class: Sage
- Mighty Glacier
- Support Party Member: His high Magic and bulk but horrible Speed make him better suited for using staves than fighting—heck, his name is even pronounced "Staff-bot." Thankfully, his skill set supports being supportive above all else.
Bigle
Class: Bigle → Big Bigle
- Adorable Abomination
- Cute Mute
- Summon Magic: Is capable of summoning False Bigles, which are essentially weaker Bigles.
Deke
Class: Hero
- Glass Cannon: High offenses, but his defensive stats outside of his surprisingly high HP will often fail him.
Bors
Class: General
- Jack of All Stats: His stats actually wind up being fairly balanced thanks to his high Defense base and Speed growth.
Marty
Class: Berserker
- Critical Hit Class: Gets Killing Machine and Critical Force to increase his critical hit chance... which is, of course, assuming he can hit to begin with. He's probably a decent candidate for any Secret Books you find if you want to use him.
- Glass Cannon: Has high HP, Strength, Luck... and that's it.
Azel
Class: Mage Knight
- Magic Knight: Just like his promoted class in his original game.
- Taken for Granite: Starts out with the Stone status condition. You're going to want to use Restore on him fairly quickly.
Bernie
Class: Senator
- Glass Cannon: Her HP and Defense (and Strength, but she's primarily a magic user so it doesn't matter much) are among the worst in the game, but everything else is among the best. Her personal weapon, Bad Time, helps to improve her survivability with Miracle.
- Humanoid Abomination: Somehow, she's Bernadetta, Sans, and Bernie Sanders all at once.
- Three Beings, One Body: Each individual gets to talk from time to time, each with a different speech bubble to differentiate them.
Papaya
Class: Ranger
- Affectionate Parody: Of Honeydew.
- Horse Archer
- Living Dream: Was originally a figment of a dream that BK was having. If she survives the chapter, she gets pulled into the real world and is effectively just as alive as everyone else.
The King
Class: Burger King (lances)
- A Father to His Men
- Big Good
- Magikarp Power: The closest thing this game has to a traditional Est-type unit, despite him being prepromoted.
Not Kelik
Class: Assassin
- BFS: He still wields the Arectaris.
- Critical Hit Class: Gets Lethality, Crit Boost, and Bane to make him extremely good at randomly dealing tons of damage.
- Ineffectual Loner: Just as Kelik was in The Last Promise.
- In the Hood
- Suspiciously Specific Denial: Claims to absolutely not be Kelik (possibly because Kelik's portrait isn't free to use).
Samto
Class: Hero
- Casanova Wannabe
- Too Dumb to Live: He's the densest man alive.
Honse
Class: Honse
- Early-Bird Cameo: Makes several appearances in the mid and late game. He'll only join if you keep him alive during all of his appearances.
- Non-Human Sidekick: Is literally just a horse. He can't even talk.
Demijagen
Class: Wyvern Lord
- Cool Old Guy: Clearly very old.
- 11th-Hour Ranger: Joins in the very last chapter to provide BK with some extra muscle against the final boss.
- Humanoid Abomination: Is described as "an abomination made of every good unit ever."
Secret Characters (UNMARKED SPOILERS)
Wario
Class: Axe Cavalier → Great Knight
- Art Shift: His portrait is a 3D render of the character.
- Mighty Glacier: Slow, but strong; though having a mount definitely helps with mobility.
- Suddenly Voiced: The only character in the game with voice clips.
Ricardo
Class: Ricardo
- Anachronism Stew: Wields a handgun.
- Fragile Speedster
- Magikarp Power: Starts off deceptively weak, but give him some Spirit Rings and level-ups and through his handgun's Armor-Piercing Attack qualities and his collection of strong skills, he can pick off enemies fairly easily late-game.
Dorshua
Class: Fighter → Warrior
- Mage Killer: Has a surprisingly high Resistance stat.
- Mighty Glacier: Slow, but strong, and with high Resistance and HP, he can be surprisingly bulky too.
Subject 35
Class: (Bow) Boner → (Bow) Bonerer
- Glass Cannon: Has comically bad defenses, but can pack a punch with bows.
- Summon Magic: Can summon False Boners, much like how Bigle can summon False Bigles.
Joshua
Class: Runeblade
- Luck-Based Mission: Recruiting him can become this if you don't have Dorshua on your team. Using the latter to visit his home can recruit him immediately, but otherwise you would need to roll an extremely low percentage (between 1 and 2 percent).
- Magic Knight: Being able to use both magic and swords effectively.
Butter Dog
Class: Butter Dog
- Fragile Speedster
- Magikarp Power: Starts out on the weaker side, but can catch up fairly easily and prove to be a solid enough fighter.
Riddell
Class: Paladin
- Expy: He fits in with the Lorenz-archetype of the vanilla series, having an extremely obtuse recruitment even by the standards of this game's secret units.
Tailtiu
Class: Mage → Sage
- Back from the Dead: If certain conditions were met, Kaga meets up with Father Claud to resurrect Tailtiu as part of his unused "Third Generation" plot for Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War.
- Squishy Wizard: Her impressive magic growth does little to protect her from physical attacks.
- Was It Really Worth It?: Her unit description asks this question, mostly likely directed at the player.
Kempf
Class: Mage Knight
- Magic Knight
- Promoted to Playable: Can be used after completing the second Trial Map.
- Skippable Boss: You don't have to actually kill him in order to complete Chapter 8, but doing so nets you a Swiftsole.
Adachy
Class: Dark Mage → Sorcerer
- Art Shift: Uses an extremely compressed version of his Persona 4 portrait.
- Crippling Overspecialization: Only his Magic and Luck growths are good. Everything else is terrible.
- Squishy Wizard: Extremely so.
