Takafumi Takaoka

Voiced by: Jun Fukuyama (Japanese), Aleks Le (English), Luis Leonardo Suárez (Latin American Spanish)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/takafumi_takaoka.png

Takafumi Takaoka, Kousuke’s nephew.

  • Accidental Pervert: He once walks in on Fujimiya when she's getting dressed after a shower.
  • Attractive Bent-Gender: Uncle uses magic to change Takafumi's body into the cute Alicia.
  • Audience Surrogate: He experiences his uncle's adventures for the viewer.
  • Bully Magnet: When he was a boy, he got picked on a lot. Even Fujimiya, his Only Friend, bullied him.
  • Celibate Hero: Unlike Uncle who is just dense, Takafumi does recognize the romantic and sexual implications of his moments with Fujimiya. His issue is that he thinks it would be bad to start thinking of his childhood friend in that way. He goes as far as to ask Uncle to erase his memory of a half-naked Fujimiya to avoid seeing her sexually.
  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Despite his Oblivious to Love nature, he dislikes seeing Fujimiya around male strangers, even if it's in a photo.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: It is implied that his childhood wasn't good and it seems Uncle is the only positive family tie he has left (and it was implied that he was trying to cut ties with him before he learned Uncle has magic). He even considers being bullied by young Sumika to be one of his few happy memories.
  • Drunk with Power: When Uncle temporarily grants Takafumi access to Nature Spirit magic, he mutters about using it for murder and vengeance.
  • Escapism: He listens to Uncle's stories with great relish, even turning down important household decisions. Fujimiya thinks his desire for escapism runs high because he didn't have a good childhood.
  • Freaky Is Cool: While Fujimiya thinks her younger self looks disgusting for her Gonk traits, Takafumi says Fujimiya was cooler back then, especially because she could scare away his bullies by just showing them her face.
  • He Is All Grown Up: Much to Fujimiya's delight, Takafumi became more masculine over the years.
  • Hypocritical Humor: While he is often frustrated with his uncle's social/romantic obliviousness, he demonstrates that same obliviousness towards Fujimiya.
  • I Don't Want to Ruin Our Friendship: Fujimiya isn't subtle about her crush on Takafumi and he finds her more attractive than he would like to admit. However, he stubbornly refuses to see his only childhood friend as a love interest because he thinks it would endanger one of the few positive relationships he has left.
  • I Got Bigger: He used to be shorter than Fujimiya when they were kids. When they meet again as teenagers, he's taller than her.
  • Ignore the Fanservice: He tries his hardest to not react to Fujimiya's attempts to seduce him because he thinks it would be creepy to look at his friend in a sexual way and refuses to understand she wants him to do that. In the most extreme cases, like walking in on her getting dressed, he asks Uncle to erase his memory of Fujimiya's half-naked body.
  • Mistaken for Gay: When he tells Uncle that he used to have a male roommate, he needs to explain it was platonic cohabitation. Also, Fujimiya sometimes questions if Takafumi is attracted to the opposite sex because he rarely reacts to her advances.
  • Nephewism: After he finds out his uncle has magic powers, Takafumi invites him to share an apartment (as his roomate has just moved out) to make money off his uncle's Youtube videos.
  • Oblivious to Love: Fujimiya has been both subtle and overt about her feelings for Takafumi, but he thinks she's just being a good friend who's finding reasons to excuse his attraction to her away.
  • Opaque Lenses: Like Uncle, his glasses tend to obscure his eyes.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Takafumi resorts to Selective Obliviousness as much as his uncle, in his case going into full-on denial that Fujimiya is genuinely interested in him and not just putting it on to make him feel better about being attracted to her.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: He resembles his uncle with their Opaque Lenses and shared penchant for Stunned Silence, but compared to Uncle, Takafumi looks much more handsome.
  • What You Are in the Dark: When Uncle turns him into Alicia, Takafumi is tempted to feel up his transformed body's breasts. He retracts because his conscience won't let him do anything dirty to Alicia's image.

    Sumika Fujimiya

Sumika Fujimiya

Voiced by: Mikako Komatsu (Japanese), Jenny Yokobori (English), Alicia Barragán, Desireé González [child] (Latin American Spanish)

Takafumi's childhood friend, who reunites with Takafumi after years and learns about his uncle.

  • Audience Surrogate: She experiences Uncle's adventures for the viewer alongside Takafumi.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: Takafumi wants to think she's the standard version, but she's more of a Covert Pervert than he's entirely comfortable with, and she'd prefer Uncle wasn't taking up his time and attention.
  • Bully and Wimp Pairing: Contrary to how she remembers her childhood, she used to be a big bully and pushed Takafumi around.
  • Bully Turned Buddy: Played with. In the usual sense, she was a bully toward Takafumi when they were kids before becoming friends and reforming in their later years. But in Takafumi's mind, Sumika was always his friend, if in a Vitriolic Best Buds way.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: She has an obvious crush on her childhood friend, Takafumi.
  • Covert Pervert: She is more comfortable with sexual situations than Takafumi and Uncle would like. She's also more than up for watching sex scenes, informing the memory spirit not to censor anything on one of the occasions it looks like Uncle and Elf-san are going to get it on.
  • Delusions of Beauty: In Fujimiya's mind, she has always been cute, but the truth is she only became attractive when she hit puberty. Upon reuniting with Takafumi, her initial memory of their childhood together shows her as basically a younger version of how she looks now. When Uncle displays Takafumi's memories of Fujimiya in elementary school, however, all they see is a very ugly tomboy and Takafumi has to remind Fujimiya that's her. Once it sinks in, Fujimiya is terribly embarrassed to learn how she actually looked.
  • The Dreaded: She was quite the terror to other boys in elementary school.
  • Girl Next Door: She's Takafumi's childhood friend who he prefers to treat as One of the Boys, but he admits to finding her cute. While she's more feminine than she was as a kid, she's still a down-to-earth tomboy type.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Back in middle school, she wore her hair in twin braids in an effort to look girly, contrasting her Boyish Short Hair from elementary school.
  • Gonk: When Takafumi's childhood memories are shown, child Sumika looks like a very ugly-looking boy with beady eyes and Tombstone Teeth, and her facial expressions are even more distorted than Uncle's.
  • Higher Education Is for Women: She is currently attending college. Takafumi entered the workforce after high school. Uncle was trapped on Granbahamal.
  • Hypocritical Heartwarming: While she did bully Takafumi in their youth, she would also bully other kids who picked on him. Ironically, both Takafumi and Uncle were impressed by her defending the former this way, much to her embarrassment.
  • I Hate Past Me: She's very freaked out when she sees herself in Takafumi's childhood memories since she finally realizes how embellished her own memory is, especially regarding her younger self not being cute like she remembers.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She was a bully to Takafumi in elementary school, but did defend him when other kids tried to bully him. This is what fully impressed Takafumi and why he sees her as a good friend compared to his usual sour outlook on bullies and deep feelings of retaliation.
  • Just Friends: To her dismay, Takafumi vehemently insists on Fujimiya being his friend and nothing more, regardless of how obviously she wants to be his girlfriend. He does find her attractive, but thinks it's creepy to see a friend that way even though she says she would like it.
  • Masculine Girl, Feminine Boy: She had this dynamic with Takafumi in elementary school. Fujimiya looked and acted like a scary boy who bullied other kids, including Takafumi, who was gentle and very cute, to the point he could have been mistaken for a girl if he wore a skirt.
  • Metaphorically True: Her Self-Serving Memory of herself and Takafumi isn't entirely false from the image of her glomping him, giving the impression of her being tomboyish in contrast to his femininity, and describing their childhood as bittersweet. It's just a bit different from what truly transpired in their childhood.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Though she dresses conservatively, Fujimiya is an attractive woman with ample bosom and long legs. There are moments when she rests her chest on a tabletop or the view angle emphasizes the contours of her body.
  • Patient Childhood Love Interest: She has been friends with Takafumi since they were in elementary school. After reuniting with him in her college years, she very much wants a Relationship Upgrade and makes various attempts to make him see her as a woman, but gets annoyed whenever Takafumi insists on treating her as his tomboyish friend as he did in his childhood.
  • Reformed Bully: In her childhood, she was a lot more violent and picked on other kids, including Takafumi. She's ashamed when the memory spell makes her realize how much of a bully she was.
  • Rescue Romance: Played for Laughs. It's implied that Sumika started to develop feelings for Takafumi when he tried to protect her from three slightly older boys bullying her... despite the fact that she wasn't in any danger and when the leader of the trio tried to push her he hurt himself in the process and quickly became scared of her.
  • Satellite Love Interest: Her main purpose is to be Takafumi's childhood friend with a big crush on him. She spends all her free time hanging out with him and her focus chapters are about her attempts to make Takafumi see her as a woman.
  • Second Episode Introduction: As a result of how the adaptation went down, the manga introduces her in chapter 7, while the anime introduces her in episode 2.
  • Sexy Shirt Switch: After her Shower Scene, Takafumi finds her wearing nothing but one of his shirts.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: She's willing to show off skin in front of Takafumi in order to make him look at her sexually. When Takafumi wants to forget about seeing a half-naked Fujimiya, she begs him to keep the memory and says she'll make him see her naked again.
  • She Is All Grown Up: Fujimiya doesn't remember at first, but she was really ugly back in elementary school. She looks cute now because puberty was very kind to her.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Takafumi has always been the sole target of her romantic affections.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: She has a crush on Takafumi because he has always treated her kindly.
  • Tomboy Angst: Retroactively. Fujimiya doesn't even realize how much of a tomboy she used to be until Uncle shows Takafumi's memories. She's not only embarrassed to see how violent and gross she was, but is horrified to see her childhood self looking like a Gonkish boy instead of the cute girl of her embellished flashback. While Takafumi tries to make her feel better by saying he thinks she was cool as a child, Fujimiya only gets more frustrated as it'll be harder to make Takafumi see her as a love interest when she was basically his dude friend when they were kids.
  • Unlimited Wardrobe: Select episodes indicate the passage of time and show her in different dresses between skits. This noticeably contrasts with Uncle and Takafumi always wearing the same jeans and jacket.
  • Unprovoked Pervert Payback: When she hears that Takafumi briefly transformed into Alicia (though he did nothing lewd), Fujimiya immediately accuses him of groping Alicia's breasts and punishes him with a Finger Poke of Doom.
  • Used to Be a Tomboy: She looked and acted no different from a grubby, chubby boy with a dirty mind when she was young, but her appearance and behavior became more feminine by middle school. Takafumi actually thought she was a boy when they first met. She's not at all comfortable when that part of her life comes up.
  • With Friends Like These...: Takafumi's childhood memories only show Fujimiya punching him and throwing poop at him. Fujimiya didn't remember she was that rough with Takafumi in the past, but he has wholeheartedly thought of her as his friend since always.

Sumika's younger brother.

  • Big Little Brother: While he is younger than Sumika, he looks the same age as her.
  • Face of a Thug: His looks and height make most people that he approaches think he is some creep when he is actually just trying to be friendly.
  • Gonk: He looks like an older version of what his sister looked like in elementary school and she isn't proud of how she looked back then, to put it mildly.
  • Hidden Depths: According to Sumika, he takes lessons in piano and calligraphy.
  • I Was Quite a Looker: Growing up did the exact opposite of what it did to his sister, as he was fairly cute when he was younger and became a Gonk with a Face of a Thug after a few years.
  • Relative Error: Takafumi initially mistakes Chiaki for Sumika's boyfriend, since Chiaki looks so different from the last time he saw him as a kid. Once he gets closer, he recognizes him as Sumika's younger brother.
  • Younger Than They Look: He's a fourth-grader who's a little taller than Sumika, a college student.

Sumika's best friend.

    Tabuchi

Tabuchi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tabuchi_isekai_ojisan.png

Uncle's Year 2 Middle School Homeroom Teacher.

  • The Dreaded: Uncle considers him the most powerful creature he knows and a terrifying monster.
  • Everyone Has Standards: After General Ricardo Markfield explains his reasons for letting Alicia and her party go against a legion of goblins without proper warning, not even Uncle under Tabuchi's mindset could slap him for it.
  • Fat Bastard: Is quite chubby and physically abusive to middle schoolers.
  • Gonk: Similar to Uncle, he is considered another rare species of an orc by the otherworlders.
  • Impersonation-Exclusive Character: The real Tabuchi never actually appears in the story, we only learn about him when Uncle transforms into him to deal with a problem.
  • No Full Name Given: Only his surname is revealed.
  • Sadist Teacher: His way of "debating" features him repeatedly Bitch Slapping the other person and shouting "Huh!" (the anime has him yelling gibberish instead) in order to intimidate them into agreeing with him.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He apparently has no problem "debating" with girls, as seen with Mire Greiler.

Granbahamal

Uncle's Admirers

    Tropes applying to the three
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/uncle_from_another_world_girls.png

  • All Women Are Lustful: All three are obviously interested in pursuing an intimate relationship with Uncle, and show disappointment whenever he ignores their cues for sex.
    • Elf-san is the most aggressive love interest, taking any opportunity to bed Uncle.
    • Alicia is a medium-level flirt: while she enjoys teasing him, she does get flustered at actual seduction attempts.
    • Mabel is the least (as part of being the chillest member) but she did make one attempt: she asked for money for a bath before staying with Uncle note .
  • Battle Harem: The three are outstanding fighters and have feelings for Uncle, often joining him in his adventures.
  • BFS: All three are effective swordswomen.
  • Chromatic Arrangement: Elf-san wears yellow, Mabel wears blue, and Alicia wears pink.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Each one of them is associated with the main color they wear in their clothes; Elf-san wears a golden dress, Mabel wears blue clothing and has blue hair as well as blue eyes, and Alicia wears a purple skirt and has purple eyes.
  • Crush Blush: A Luminescent Blush appears on their faces whenever they make a romantic advance or interpret Uncle's actions as romantic.
  • Cute Little Fangs: From time to time their canine teeth are shown whenever they exhibit embarrassment or excitement around Uncle.
  • Death Glare: Whenever they are seriously angry at Uncle, they have frightening glares.
  • Foregone Conclusion: It's a foregone fact that Uncle didn't have a romantic relationship with anyone because he still isn't aware that Elf-san, Mabel and Alicia were in love with him as he recounts his adventures in the other world in the current story.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble: Uncle is Melancholic (introverted Otaku), Elf is Choleric (cranky Tsundere), Mabel is Phlegmatic (chilly Lazy Bum) and Alicia is Sanguine (amiable Nice Girl).
  • Hopeless Suitor: Uncle has no interest in women and during his years in Granbahamal, he only focused on trying to go back to Japan without ever considering a romance with his three admirers. He does express fondness for them from time to time, but the fact that he returned to Japan while the three stayed in Granbahamal has made a relationship with any of them impossible unless there's a way for the girls to reunite with Uncle.
  • Nice, Mean, and In-Between: The abrasive Tsundere Elf-san is the mean one, the withdrawn Defrosting Ice Queen Mabel is in-between, and the sweet Alicia is the nice one.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: The three are able to look past Uncle's "orc face" and become attracted to his heroic, brave, and determined character.
  • Town Girls: Elf-san is a Tsundere swordswoman (Butch), Mabel is demure yet has an aggressive fighting style (Neither), and the White Magician Girl Alicia is the girliest of the trio (Femme).

    Elf-san

Elf-san / Suzailgiererzegalnelvzegilreagranzelga Elga / Sui

An elf who Uncle rescues from a dragon. She ends up falling for him, but is an awkward love interest and Uncle keeps getting mixed messages from her.

  • Adaptational Hairstyle Change: In the manga, she has a thick low ponytail. The anime splits it into low Girlish Pigtails.
  • Aggressive Submissive: She drops her emotional resistance whenever Uncle becomes assertive towards her and she believes he intends to consummate their relationship.
  • All Amazons Want Hercules: She feels no attraction to anyone but Uncle because he's the only man who surpasses her power.
  • All for Nothing: We all know that she won't succeed in winning Uncle's heart, especially since he's not interested in the opposite sex.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Uncle complains about Elf being an Ungrateful Bitch who never thanked him for saving her from the Elder Venom Dragon. Instead, she angrily scolds him for jumping straight to fight a dragon when he was still a novice at the other world and he didn't even know how lethal the dragon was. Her anger instantly subsides when Uncle honestly tells her he only wanted to save her, no matter the danger it implied.
  • Animal Motifs: Elf-san's green eyes and Cute Little Fangs call to mind cats, in contrast to Mabel's dog motif.
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: When Elf-san and Uncle fight together without holding back, they can defeat the world's most powerful Sealed Evil in a Can.
  • Berserk Button: She really doesn't like being called "Princess."
  • BFS: Her otherwise mundane-looking sword turns into a magic blade by pressing on the pommel. The new blade then becomes wider than herself from shoulder to shoulder, and can be longer than her height when she's midair.
  • Butt-Monkey: She frequently gets into frustrating situations with Uncle as he keeps missing the obvious hints of her crush on him. He tries to get away from her because her Tsundere behavior gives him the wrong idea about her and in other instances, he unintentionally gets her hopes up by making it look like he reciprocates her feelings, only for it to be a misunderstanding. One notable example is the time Elf-san cried for a whole night after a drunk Uncle turned her away from his room when she was expecting sex.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Par the course for a Tsundere, she is completely unable to openly admit her feelings to Uncle whenever an opportunity arises.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She gets furious if she sees any girl make a move on Uncle. She even gets jealous of Uncle talking to other girls unless she feels like she has the advantage somehow.
  • Clingy Sleepers: She develops a habit of sneaking into Uncle's bed to get cuddly with him as he sleeps. Whenever he wakes up and finds her clinging to him, she comes up with flimsy excuses and he doesn't question her.
  • Covert Pervert: Despite her denials, she has very strong carnal desires for Uncle. She is quick to find any excuse to share the same bed with Uncle at inns and has thoughts of Erotic Eating when imagining how she would feed Uncle food.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Of the Tsundere stereotype. Since her love interest isn't familiar with her character type, her insults only result in her looking like a Jerkass in his eyes. In the rare occassion where she tries to be nice to him, like inviting him to dinner, he still views her actions negatively, thinking of her as a bully trying to leech off of him.
  • Determinator: No matter how many setbacks and failed opportunities occur, she refuses to give up on winning Uncle's heart.
  • Devoted to You: Her heart is completely devoted to Uncle while seeing other men as not worth her attention nor her time.
  • Dull Eyes of Unhappiness: She gets crazy-looking lifeless eyes whenever she sees Uncle making advances on another woman (or vice versa).
  • Expressive Ears: The tips of her ears turn red when she blushes.
  • Fantasy Gun Control: Firearms are forgotten technology. One of the Lost Superweapons that Elf-san acquires is a Magitek scabbard that converts her Laser Blade into a sniper rifle that fires shots able to penetrate magic barriers with ease.
  • Fiery Redhead: She's a hot-tempered Tsundere with strawberry blonde hair.
  • Friendly Address Privileges: Eventually, she and Uncle reveal their real names to each other. Since elves would protest against Uncle calling her by name, she asks him to call her by the nickname "Sui" in private and in exchange, she wants to be the only one who calls him by his real name.
  • Girlish Pigtails: In the anime, her hair is tied into low pigtails at the back. It's one of the traits that identify her as a Tsundere.
  • Gotta Catch Them All: She is on a quest to collect as many Lost Superweapons of the Vestigial Empire as she can. This mission is very important to her, as the only moment, she willingly leaves Uncle's side is when she discovers the creditable location of such artifacts.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: A lot of people turn their heads to check her out when she puts on a nice dress for her dinner with Uncle.
  • Her Boyfriend's Jacket: It's actually Uncle's hoodie and one sided on Elf-san's part. It was the hoodie he wore when saving Elf-san from the Elder Venom Dragon. The monster's poison caused Clothing Damage to Elf-san's attire, and he loaned it to avert the Naked First Impression. Uncle has tried to retrieve the hoodie since then, but Elf-san fights back because it has his scent and she wears it as pajamas.
  • Heroic BSoD: After the battle with Nushi, Elf realized the ring Uncle gave her was missing and Elf mentally shutdown as she cried, "where did it go," over and over again.
  • Hey, You!: Even after years of knowing each other, Uncle and Elf don't call each other by their names. At most, she only calls him "Orc Face". This causes a lot of frustration for Elf when she hears Uncle calling her love rivals by their names. Uncle has to point out that they never told each other their names and they proceed to fix that.
  • Hyperspace Arsenal: Like Uncle, she uses storage magic to carry her equipment. Since it's supposed to be a secret technique of her royal family, she wonders why Uncle can use it.
  • Indifferent Beauty: Being an elf, she's stunningly beautiful even by her world's standards. However, she doesn't give a damn about what anyone but Uncle thinks about her.
  • Insult of Endearment: Played With. She calls Uncle an "Orc Face" as part of her Tsundere shtick. However, Uncle doesn't get that it's meant to be endearing and just takes it as a regular insult. To be fair, everyone else who calls him an orc does mean it.
  • Interspecies Romance: She's an elf who fell deeply in love with a human man.
  • It Was a Gift: Uncle gave her his jacket to cover her naked body in their first meeting. She kept it ever since, using it as a pajama, and stubbornly refused to give it back when Uncle demanded it.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite her abrasiveness, she's Uncle's most fiercely loyal and helpful ally. Often, as Uncle recounts one of the times she was mean to him, Takafumi gets frustrated about Uncle not noticing her acts of kindness.
  • Jerkass to One: Typical for a Tsundere, she seems to be the most intentionally abrasive towards Uncle more than anyone else, which only became worse after she unconsciously realized her feelings for him.
  • King Incognito: She passes herself as an unusually powerful adventurer, but she's an elf princess.
  • The Lancer: She played this role to Uncle during his days in Granbahamal. Because of her insistence to stalk him, Elf was Uncle's most constant companion in his adventures and her hotheaded Tsundere character directly contrasted Uncle's nicer and subdued character.
  • Lost Superweapon: She is on a quest to reassemble the scattered components of the Infinity +1 Sword and Armor of Invincibility from a fallen empire.
  • Magitek: Her sword and armor have a more technological theme than usual for the Standard Fantasy Setting. The armor exhibits Shock and Awe properties that powers her equipment, while the sword has a Laser Blade and Wave-Motion Gun function.
  • Master Swordswoman: She's a highly powerful swordswoman.
  • Multi-Melee Master: The more Lost Superweapon components she finds for her sword, the more Swiss-Army Weapon features it gains. Elf-san has proven to be an expert master of all the attack forms it has.
  • Mundane Utility: After acquiring a sniper rifle and long range scope, she uses the devices to watch Uncle bathing in a hotspring.
  • Naked First Impression: When she first met Uncle, she was naked due to the major Clothing Damage she suffered during her fight with a dragon.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Apparently her real first name when broken down into sections translates into "Your tribute. Offer it up. Obey our horrifyingly tenacious nation. Enemies. Their villages get burned. We are decisively those. Who are the most incredibly blessed. In all nature. Born deliberately. Out of lightning." And her surname Elga translates to "The one who rends the enemy into small pieces".
  • Never My Fault: She gets pissed at Uncle for calling Mabel and Alicia by their names when he hasn't done that for her even though she met him first. It doesn't seem to occur to her that she never told Uncle her own name before Uncle points it out to her.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: She frequently makes up ridiculous excuses to invade Uncle's personal space by touching him and smelling him. She even sneaks into his bed whenever they're sleeping at the same place.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: For a long time, she's only referred to as "Elf" or "Tsundere". Her real name is eventually revealed, but it's so long that Uncle nicknames her "Sui".
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: She removes Uncle's ring when possessed by Nushi's spirit.
  • Overly Long Name: Her full name is Suzail Gierer Zegal Nelv Zegil Rea Grang Zelga Elga.
  • Please, Don't Leave Me: When she hears Uncle plans to use the Ancient Flame Dragon to go back to his own world, Elf almost starts crying and tries to destroy the remains of the dragon so Uncle can't ever leave her world.
  • Pointy Ears: She has long and pointy ears, as is stereotypical for elves.
  • Proper Tights with a Skirt: She's a Tsundere who wears leggings beneath her skirt. The material becomes as strong as armor when she conducts lightning magic through them.
  • Psychic Block Defense: Her jewel headpiece blocks mind reading and mental recording magic.
  • Punny Name: Her clan name "Elga", is Anglo-Saxon for "Elf's Spear".
  • Race-Name Basis: She only introduces herself to others as "Elf" due to being the only elf currently living outside the Hidden Elf Village.
  • Redheads Are Ravishing: Her hair color is strawberry blonde, nearly orange, and she's an elf, a fantastic species known for being an Inhumanly Beautiful Race. The first time Takafumi sees her face, he's stunned at how gorgeous she is.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl: She frequently ends up in humiliating Fanservice situations with Uncle undressing her.
  • Rescue Romance: She has a crush on Uncle because he saved her from a dragon.
  • Rhyming Names: Her real name, Suzailgiererzegalnelvzegilreagranzelga Elga.
  • Romantic Spoonfeeding: She absolutely loves being fed by Uncle and was unusually excited at the idea of feeding Uncle.
  • Sarcastic Devotee: Because of her Tsundereness, she can't stop herself from reviling Uncle almost every time they meet. She also follows him around, gets him out of scrapes, and is willing to die to save his life if the need arises.
  • Satellite Love Interest: While there's some hints at her background, her character and role mostly center around being Uncle's Tsundere Stalker with a Crush and Clingy Jealous Girl. She has little interest in matters that don't involve Uncle and rarely does anything but follow him around, unless there's an ancient lost weapon nearby.
  • Self-Proclaimed Love Interest: Even though she won't ever admit her feelings in front of Uncle, Elf is willing to claim they're already in a relationship in order to drive away love rivals. For example, she's overjoyed when Alicia thinks she's dating Uncle and brags about Uncle giving her a ring, omitting the fact that it was a payment ring instead of an engagement one.
  • Shipper with an Agenda:
    • She tries to set up Alicia with either Raiga or Edgar, which would free her of another love rival for Uncle's heart. To Elf's bad luck, Raiga and Edgar don't like Alicia that way.
    • When she sees Sharion and Uncle getting on well together, she tries to talk Otom into a romantic relationship with Sharion. This time it works.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: She's the only character with orangish hair and emerald green eyes. Besides being an elf, she's revealed to be royalty.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Uncle is the only male she is willing to acknowledge exists for more than a few seconds. She looks down on other men as unworthy of her attention.
  • Skewed Priorities: When Mabel reveals she's descended from a Japanese dimensional traveler like Uncle, all Elf-san cares about is confirming whether Mabel is a love rival for Uncle. As Mabel tries to tell the story of her Japanese ancestor, Elf-san keeps interrupting her to ask Mabel how she feels about Uncle.
  • Some Call Me "Tim": Uncle shortens her Overly Long Name to "Sui" ("emerald") for her green eyes.
  • Stalker with a Crush: She obsessively follows Uncle around for years. He thinks she's just harassing him, not getting that she has a crush on him.
  • Stalking Is Funny if It Is Female After Male: Her relentless stalking of Uncle probably wouldn't be Played for Laughs if the genders were reversed. She gets away with it because she's a beautiful woman chasing after an ugly guy.
  • The Strategist: She devised the plans to defeat the Ascended Ancient Flame Dragon and the Invincible Skeleton.
  • Take That!: The whole obliviousness of Uncle to Elf-san's true feelings can be seen as a jab to men in Real Life who buy into an old-timey belief that if women are openly being rude to them means that they're secretly in love with them.
  • Tomboy Princess: She's the least ladylike and most short-tempered of Uncle's suitors, yet it turns out she's an elf princess.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: Despite mainly acting like a rough warrior, her girly side easily comes out in her romantic pursuit for Uncle. She puts on an elegant dress when going to have dinner with him and behaves like a typical Smitten Teenage Girl in anything that involves Uncle, as long as his obliviousness doesn't ruin one of their moments.
  • Tsundere: Harsh type. She verbally abuses Uncle all the time, but her blushing faces and occasional concern for him make it obvious to Takafumi and Fujimiya that she likes him. The problem is her dere-dere flies over his head because he has no experience in dealing with this type of love interest and he takes her abrasiveness as her genuinely loathing him.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Her sharp eye shape is one of the traits that give her away as a Tsundere.
  • Uptown Girl: She's an elf princess with an obsessive crush on a low-class adventurer.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: Even though she isn't Uncle's girlfriend and he definitely doesn't need her protection, her love for him motivates her to take on any enemy, no matter how powerful, for his sake.
  • Well, Excuse Me, Princess!: She's frequently calling Uncle a hideous and stupid "Orc Face" because being a gorgeous elf and princess prevents her from admitting she's in love with someone that her world views as ugly.
  • What Beautiful Eyes!: Uncle compliments her "beautiful, jewel-like" emerald eyes.
  • What Does She See in Him?: It eventually becomes common knowledge that one can find the Civilized Orc by shadowing Elf-san. Such individuals question what sort of hold Uncle has over her.
  • Withholding Their Name: She avoids giving her name when introducing herself to others, asking to be merely called "Elf" instead. Turns out her name is so damn long that no one can remember it entirely, so it makes sense she usually doesn't bother to give it.
  • Worth It: Elf-san suffers more than her fair share from Uncle, but because he does recognize her assistance (whenever he can) and tries to repay her for helping out, it just makes her love him more.
  • Yandere: A rare case doubling as a Tsundere. Elf-san tends to become very violently jealous when Uncle gets too close to her love rivals. For example, she promptly began shooting at Uncle to force him out the hot spring when she glimpsed Alicia trying to show Uncle her nude body.

A member of an illustrious guardian family, the Frost Clan, and guardian of the family heirloom the Frost Sword, who befriends Uncle.

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: One scene has her imitate a dog's begging posture to Elf-san so that she will look after her food and board.
  • Ancestral Weapon: The Divine Frost Blade is a god-slaying sword that her Japanese ancestor received as his New Life in Another World Bonus. Her family kept the sword for generations to pass it down to a hero, but Uncle rejects the sword and lets Mabel keep it for her own use.
  • Animal-Eared Headband: A variant; come her second major appearance, she gets a hooded cape with dog ears on the hood. It has illusion magic that allows Mabel to look like a dog-like creature when she gets on her elbows and knees.
  • Animal Motifs: Dogs, as reflected by her hooded cape having dog ears, the fact that her home village would have made her live in a doghouse if she stayed, and other times where she acts and gets treated like a dog.
  • Animorphism: A variation. Mabel's Beast Robe doesn't actually transform her into an animal, but it does cast a spell that makes others see her as a dog/wolf-like beast.
  • Bait-and-Switch Sentiment: Uncle and Elf-san hear Mabel crying and calling out for her mother in her sleep, but all feelings of sympathy instantly vanish when Mabel starts whining to her mother for lying to her about not needing to work if she had the Frost Sword.
  • Beautiful Singing Voice: Uncle discovers she has a lovely singing voice. He's so moved by hearing it that he's left weeping in her lap. Bonus for both her voice actors being professional singers.
  • Berserk Button: She gets annoyed whenever someone gossips that dragons, the Ancient Flame Dragon in particular, can be defeated without using the Divine Frost Blade.
  • Blue Means Cold: Mabel, who is descended from the Frost Clan, has light blue hair and eyes, and wears blue clothes.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: She is a Magic Knight who doesn't want to work; she claims that even convenient jobs like a toy or flower store are too much for her. In serious battle, she is a powerful fighter in her own right with her natural talent more than making up for her lack of effort and practice.
  • Brutal Honesty: Due to a prestigious, sheltered (and lazy) lifestyle, Mabel has little understanding of how people work and she usually blurts what's on her mind with little care.
  • Bullying the Dragon: After Uncle slayed the Ancient Flame Dragon without using her Divine Frost Blade, the villagers tore down her tree house for use as firewood and told her she'd have to work to earn her living or become their pet, even prepared her a literal doghouse... Unfortunately for them, their boost of self-confidence and authority was short lived thanks to her being the owner of one of the strongest swords in the world.
  • Catchphrase Insult: "Drown in the blade of ice, and fall into slumber!"
  • Clingy Sleepers: After performing Intimate Healing on Uncle with Elf-san's help, both fall asleep on top of him. When Elf-san wakes up, she gets jealous as she watches the sleeping Mabel tightly clinging to Uncle.
  • Creepy Monotone: Her normal speaking voice is devoid of emotion and soft-spoken. When she's around Uncle it quickly fades away as she gets caught in his antics.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass:
    • Despite her extreme laziness and goofy behavior, Mabel is a savage melee combatant who specializes in techniques that keeps an opponent from maneuvering so they can't avoid her assault. She's also able to block Uncle's most powerful attack spell, though doing so still singes her clothes.
    • For a brief time she was employed by the Royal Kingdom as their champion warrior. She obtained the job after a misunderstanding that led her to singlehandedly defeating an entire legion of knights without much effort.
  • Cry into Chest: After Elf-san ruins her attempt at telling the story of her Japanese ancestor, Mabel starts crying and Elf-san pulls her to her chest as she comforts her out of guilt.
  • Curtains Match the Window: She has light blue hair and eyes to match her abilities as a descendant of the ice clan.
  • Deadpan Snarker: She can't help snarking on a few occasions.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Zig-Zagged. Uncle is supposed to "melt her frozen heart", but he doesn't get Dating Sim logic and convinces her that she doesn't need to come out of her shell. This makes her develop feelings for him, but his oblivious nature makes her switch between defrosting and refrosting.
  • Dismotivation: Due to Uncle telling her to never change, Mabel is convinced that she should keep her lifestyle as a social recluse.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Played for Laughs. Upon being forced out of her home by the villagers whom she was formerly the guardian of, Mabel froze their feet in place and dripped icy water on all of their necks before running away.
  • Draw Aggro: Dragons hate wielders of the Divine Frost Blade and members of the Ice Clan. Mabel is both at the same time and they will prioritize her as an immediate first target.
  • The Eeyore: She's described as gloomy and withdrawn by most observers. The villagers she used to live with disliked her for this reason, since her depressiveness often rubs off on them too.
  • Elemental Hair Colors: She's a descendant of the ice clan, and fittingly, her hair is light, icy blue. Also counts for Elemental Eye Colors for her light blue eyes.
  • Elemental Personalities: Her personality is as chilly as her ice powers.
  • Elemental Weapon: The Divine Frost Blade, as the name indicates, is an ice weapon.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She doesn't want to work, but she gets angry when Uncle says he can sell the ring he gave her for money and refuses to give the ring to Elf-san.
  • Exposed to the Elements: She is immune to the cold. The interior of her home was a frozen wasteland, as she slept on a bed of ice wearing a sundress.
  • Expressive Accessory: A variation. The Divine Frost Blade is connected to her emotional state. As long as she's emotionally closed-off, the sword is frozen. When she starts opening up to Uncle, the sword's ice cracks and sometimes melts... and then freezes up again when she gets annoyed at him being Oblivious to Love.
  • Foreshadowing: Everyone in Granbahamal panics at the sight of Uncle on their first encounter, because they mistake him for an orc. Mabel did not have such a reaction because the Frost Clan are descended from a past isekai hero.
  • Forged by the Gods: The Divine Frost Blade was the New Life in Another World Bonus that Mabel's Japanese ancestor received from a god.
  • Friendless Background: She spent most of her life isolated because she locked herself inside a frozen room, having no interest in socializing until Uncle created the circumstances that forced her to go out and become an adventurer.
  • The Gadfly: She quickly realizes that Uncle is Oblivious to Love and uses this to amuse herself by having Uncle do or say something embarrassing to Elf-san or Alicia.
  • Gold Digger: Her ultimate dream would be living a life of lazy luxury off Uncle's adventuring success.
  • The Hermit: After Uncle gets her fired from her job as a knight, Mabel goes to live alone in the woods as she still finds that better than working for a living.
  • Heroic Lineage: She's descended from a samurai who was transported to Granbahamal after dying in a war and slew the Ancient Flame Dragon with the Divine Frost Blade he got from a god.
  • Hikikomori: She's been a shut-in for most of her life, till Uncle's arrival forced her to be more proactive and adventurous.
  • Hime Cut: She has blunt bangs, bra strap-length sidelocks, and waist-length straight hair. This is a hint to her bloodline since she's descended from a Japanese samurai and a shrine maiden.
  • Holding Back the Phlebotinum: The Divine Frost Blade is described as the most powerful sword in the world. Though Mabel is able to utilize the weapon's abilities and augments her own ice magic with it, she is too lazy to practice using it, and terrified of fighting against powerful monsters.
  • An Ice Person: As a descendant of the Frost Clan, she is able to wield the Frost Sword and can conjure ice.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: She has a chilly attitude, ice powers and blue eyes.
  • Infinity +1 Sword: The Divine Frost Blade, in its unfrozen form, can supposedly kill the gods. Though weaker when sheathed in ice, it remains an Infinity -1 Sword. Also prophesied as a Sword of Plot Advancement, but Uncle was able to Take a Third Option and let Mabel keep the weapon.
  • Invisibility Cloak: Her dog-eared cloak, Beast's Robe, is incorporated with illusion magic that causes others to see her as an animal. It helps her hide from monsters in the woods.
  • It Was a Gift: For all her faults, Mabel treasures the gifts Uncle gives her. She refuses to sell the "engagement ring" Uncle gives her and claims she'll wait until its value appreciates. Even when Uncle gives her a second ring to sell, she still opts to keep it.
  • Lazy Bum: Having been living an easy life until she met Uncle, Mabel hates the mere idea of working.
  • MacGuffin Guardian: Deconstructed. Her duty was to guard the Frost Sword for The Chosen One who would wield it to defeat a dragon. Because Uncle defeated the dragon without the sword, it put her out of a job and she had to go and make her own living.
  • Magic Knight: During battle she combines ice magic and swordsmanship in equal amounts. Even Uncle is impressed when she combos them together.
  • Master Swordswoman: Mabel's natural talent with the Divine Frost Blade is extraordinary and her battle skill with the sword can rival top tier adventures such as Uncle and Elf-san.
  • Ms. Exposition: Subverted. Just as she's giving an Infodump about the origin of the Divine Frost Blade that was given to her Japanese ancestor by a god, Elf-san keeps interrupting her and summarizes the exposition for Mabel since Elf-san already knows the story and is much more interested in verifying if Mabel is a love rival for Uncle's affections.
  • NEET: Before she met Uncle, she just stayed at home and lazed around all day, since her occupation as the Frost Sword's keeper forced the villagers to provide for her. Due to Uncle rejecting her sword, the villagers drove her out of her house and she's forced to become an adventurer to earn her own living.
  • The Nicknamer: She refers to Edgar and Raiga by their hair styles: Comb Over for Edgar, Bed Head and Puffy Head for Raiga.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Mabel's high level attacks do Area of Effect damage and she generally refrains from using them. On the first occasion she battled Uncle, she waited until bystanders were not present. When Mabel fought Uncle with her strongest attacks while harming innocent witnesses, he realized she was under mind control.
  • Parental Abandonment: Her mother was not a good parent, abandoning her at the age of 9 for a younger man. Her father hasn't been mentioned, but he's not around.
  • The Power of Love: The Divine Frost Blade reaches its most powerful form when its Frost Clan Guardian falls in love with the wielder.
  • Pretty Freeloader: Ever since she was born, the people of her hometown provided for her because of her family's fame as guardians of a legendary sword. Because Uncle didn't need her sword to defeat the Blaze Dragon, the villagers tried to force her to get a real job and she became an adventurer to make a living.
  • The Quiet One: She doesn't talk a lot, at least not till she meets Uncle and Elf-san.
  • Rei Ayanami Expy: She's a fairly emotionless girl with light blue hair, white skin, a dark past and chill but sweet personality.
  • Reluctant Warrior: She carries the world's most powerful sword, and is also an Ice Witch whose frozen magic at least matches Uncle's use of Winter Spirits. However, she prefers to retreat than fight a stronger opponent and is the first person to suggest retreat in a battle.
  • Reverse Grip: When she's not cradling the Divine Frost Blade in her arms, she will hold the sword in Reverse Grip, even when the weapon is in BFS mode. In melee she will switch to Reverse Grip while changing attack patterns.
  • Rhyming Names: Maybel Rayvel.
  • Second Episode Introduction: While the manga introduces her in chapter 4, due to how things got shuffled around a bit for the adaptation, the anime introduces her in episode 2.
  • Security Cling: She will seek cover behind someone whenever a powerful monster approaches. She will even duck behind Alicia if opportunity allows, despite being a stronger melee combatant than her.
  • Sexy Santa Dress: Uncle changes her clothes into one, in an attempt to explain Santa Clausmas. He even comments she became the cutest Santa he's ever seen.
  • Showgirl Skirt: Her blue dress has the skirt cut much closer at the front to show off her legs and hot pants.
  • Shy Blue-Haired Girl: She has blue hair and when introduced, she's a very introverted and reclusive girl.
  • Signature Headgear: Her most distinctive accessory is an ice flower in her hair.
  • Sinister Scythe: Whenever she is enraged or serious in combat, the Divine Frost Blade takes the form of a frozen scythe.
  • Situational Sword: The Divine Frost Blade is linked to Mabel's emotions. When in love, its true form is revealed. When enraged, it becomes encased in a pillar of ice with multiple Sinister Scythe branches growing from it.
  • The Slacker: She finds ordinary villager occupations so much trouble that she became a wandering adventurer. Even then, she would prefer to sleep all day and avoids putting effort into anything as much as she can.
  • Smitten Teenage Girl: She's so smitten with Uncle that she refuses to sell the ring given to her by him (even when given a second one) and be set for life. Meaning the normally lazy Mabel rather do labor than selling off the rings she got from her big crush.
  • Snarking Thanks: When she attacks Uncle, she "thanks" him for defeating the Ancient Flame Dragon without the Divine Frost Blade as she ended up being driven out of her house and in need of a job because of him. Uncle fails to realize she's being sarcastic.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She's chilly because a hero is supposed to "melt her frozen heart". While Uncle never really succeeds there, she does show a warmer side to him and others over time.
  • Super Mode: Uncle theorizes she has a more powerful "third phase" when she battles. The initial start of this form is seen when Mabel was mind controlled: skeletal wings of ice begin to emerge as she creates a frozen cocoon around herself, but it was interrupted before she could finish.
  • Talking in Your Sleep: She calls out for her mother in her sleep, complaining about her lying about never needing to work as long as she had the Divine Frost Blade and then abandoning her to run off with a man.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: While she's still lazy, she has become livelier and more playful since Uncle convinced her to become an adventurer.
  • Tragic Ice Character: She's the descendant of the ice clan and her heart is frozen because of a very isolated lifestyle and a lousy childhood. Things get more difficult for her after she's kicked out of her house and forced to earn her own living.
  • Underestimating Badassery: The villagers attempt to make her subservient to them once the flame dragon is defeated. Too bad for them it does nothing to the power scale between her and them.
  • When She Smiles: Alicia comments that Mabel has a lovely smile.

A shrine maiden who has been hailed as a hero for valorous deeds that were actually done by Uncle. Despite that, Uncle and Alicia are good friends.

  • Becoming the Boast: She eventually becomes the Hero of Legend Uncle has her pretend to be.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: She is the most curvaceous lady in the main cast, and Elf-san has concerns this aspect of Alicia is a strong advantage to seduce Uncle.
  • Covert Pervert: Despite looking like the most modest of Uncle's suitors, she can be almost as perverted as Elf-san.
    • She tried capitalizing on a moment of Suggestive Collision with Uncle, though became upset it only caused him to offhandedly recall how Elf-san and Mabel used him as a body pillow.
    • Though Elf-san showed Alicia the ring she received from Uncle and strongly implied she was engaged to him, Alicia still tried to court Uncle in the hot spring only a day later.
  • Cuteness Proximity: She goes into Cuteness Overload when Uncle shows her an old memory of Edgar and Raiga as young children.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her first memory is being covered in blood after goblins killed her entire family.
  • Doesn't Know Their Own Birthday: She says her birthday is in August, but that's just her own speculation since she lost her childhood memories.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She and her party appear in the "Winter Passage Thankgiving To The Gods" festival event in Uncle's flashback in Chapter 6 without being properly introduced.
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: When she introduced herself as the Hero of Legend to Uncle, she borrowed Edgar's sword to pose with it for emphasis.
  • Holy Hand Grenade: All of the physical attacks she inherits from Raiga and Edgar using the Rod of Salvation are vastly stronger thanks to Light 'em Up enhancement.
  • Item Crafting: She can make healing talismans, which she uses to heal party members after exhausting her magic reserves, or give to Uncle whenever they cross paths.
  • Leg Focus: She gets a new outfit from the church that shows off her long legs. When Uncle sees her in it for the first time, he has to turn away.
  • Magic Wand: She uses wands to boost her magic power. She eventually acquires the Rod of Salvation, a Lost Superweapon Elf-san was seeking. Since the wand synchronized to Alicia first, Elf-san laments she has to give up possessing it.
  • Manic Pixie Dream Girl: She's a positive-thinking person with an air of naïve innocence. Keeping a childhood promise with her is the reason Raiga and Edgar became adventurers. Both tell Uncle her airhead qualities drag them into strange situations on a regular basis.
  • Mundane Utility: In an extra chapter, she borrows Mabel's Beast Robe to secretly turn into a fox and get head pats and belly rubs from Uncle.
  • Name Amnesia: She forgot her original name as part of her Trauma-Induced Amnesia; we don't know what it was, only that it began with "A". She was given the name Alicia by her adoptive mother, the former prelate of Edelsia.
  • Nice Girl: Despite mistaking Uncle for an orc at first, Alicia has treated him the most respectfully out of all the people he has met in Granbahamal.
  • Non-Nude Bathing: In the Hot Springs Episode, Alicia wears a bathing dress when she takes a bath with Uncle. And then it came off when she got snagged on a tree branch, prompting Uncle to wipe his own memory to preserve his innocent image of her.
  • Older Than They Look: Despite her petite child-like frame, she is actually a few months older than Uncle. To be fair, Alicia herself isn't sure of how old she really is.
  • Parental Abandonment: She was orphaned in her early years, and can't remember too well her childhood beyond meeting Raiga and Edgar.
  • The Peeping Tom: At the hot spring inn, she snuck behind a hidden door to listen to what she thought would be Uncle and Elf-san having sex.
  • Pink Is Feminine: She repaints the Rod of Salvation with an adorable pink color, much to Elf-san's dismay.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: She can handle herself pretty well in combat despite being the smallest member in her group.
  • Power Copying: One of the powers she obtains from the Rod of Salvation. She synchronizes with Edgar and Raiga, gaining their accumulated combat experience and strongest techniques. Neither are amused to discover Alcia is even more powerful at the duplication, since the Rod of Salvation converts her divine magic reserves into a Holy Hand Grenade.
  • Propaganda Hero: When Uncle goes on a quest with her party, he wipes out a horde of goblins and then erases the party's memories of him. Alicia and her friends are given credit for wiping out the horde, without even being aware they've stolen the credit, and she's granted the title of Hero by the Corrupt Church to use as a symbol the commoners will rally behind.
  • Punny Name: Her last name Edelcia is based on the word "Adelisa" (French/German for "noble").
  • Rhyming Names: Alicia Edelcia.
  • Sexy Slit Dress: Her naked legs are occasionally exposed due to side slits in her dress.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: She went into a spring bath, knowing Uncle was there, to spend time with him alone in her bathing attire. After it comes off, she's willing to show Uncle her nude body to restore his memory of seeing her nakedness.
  • She Knows Too Much: A non-fatal version. Uncle erased her memories of him in their first encounters, because she keeps learning something about him that could get him in trouble. He stopped it when he learned of her dark past and Trauma-Induced Amnesia.
  • Sideboob: She is so well endowed, her bathing attire lacks enough cloth to keep her entire body hidden. There is strong evidence she was leveraging it, as she went to the hot spring aware Uncle was already there, and her bath attire was loosely tied the entire time.
  • Stealing the Credit: A rare example where the stolen credit is encouraged by the other party. Uncle wants Alicia to take credit for all his heroic achievements, because maintaining a low profile helps him stay under the radar of an orc-hating world.
  • Support Party Member: Played with. Although Alicia is the group's healer and wasn't specialized for direct fighting, she can still hold her own reasonably well when attacked.
  • Took a Level in Badass: She grows stronger each time Uncle encounters her.
  • Trauma-Induced Amnesia: She doesn't remember anything from before being rescued from goblins, including her original name.
  • Vague Age: She doesn't remember how old she actually is. Her first memory is being rescued from goblins as a child, and back then her only possession was what looked like a birthday card for her tenth birthday, and so she started counting her age from there.
  • White Magician Girl: She's a holy maiden in an adventurer party and specializes in light magic.
  • Womanchild: She has a childish attitude and demeanor that contrasts and complements her dark past and responsibility as team leader. She can wield the Wand of Salvation with great skill... but she also had it repainted to a pretty color.

Alicia's Party

    Tropes applying to both
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Their basic combat strategy is to unleash an endless barrage of attacks until the enemy is defeated or Alicia runs out of heals.
  • Badass on Paper: They aren't weak warriors, but they Leeroy Jenkins every battle they enter. What truly separates them from top tier adventurers like Uncle, Elf-san, and Mabel is they have zero sense for strategy and get easily overwhelmed when Attack! Attack! Attack! fails to win.
  • Childhood Friends: Alicia has been close friends with Raiga and Edgar since childhood.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Neither understands how they survived the battles they are given credit for, because the deeds were done by Uncle himself, and he wiped their memories.
  • Friendly Rivalry: They spar with each other to improve their combat abilities.
  • Like Brother and Sister: Contrary to Uncle's Imaginary Love Triangle misunderstanding, Raiga and Edgar have a sibling-like relationship with Alicia, with the three having been raised together at the same orphanage.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: Though the pair practice combat regularly and are competent warriors, seeing the insane amount of power Uncle and Elf-san possess often leaves them feeling inadequate. This feeling is humorously exaggerated after Alicia obtains the power to duplicate their abilities, and Mabel reveals she is nowhere as weak as she appears.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Raiga is the Red Oni (brash and hot-tempered brawler) and Edgar is the Blue Oni (elegant and even-tempered swordsman). To emphasize this, Raiga is a redhead and Edgar wears a blue jacket. When Uncle confesses his isekai status, Raiga is offended that he kept quiet to them, while Edgar is more understanding.
  • Satellite Character: They basically only ever show up when Alicia has to make an appearance in the plot and don't have any relevance besides being Alicia's friends.
  • Those Two Guys: They're most often seen in the background while Uncle does most of the heavy lifting.
  • True Companions: Raiga and Edgar, alongside Alicia, refuse Breaking the Fellowship and always travel as a trio. Eventually, Uncle trusts them with his reward money and the fact that he is from another world.

The fighter of Alicia's party.

  • The Big Guy: The physically larger of Those Two Guys in Alicia's party, who fights enemies with fists and grapple techniques.
  • Embarrassing Nickname: Gets called the "Mad Berserker" after taking credit for defeating the goblin legion; he doesn't like it at all and Edgar uses it to annoy him at times.
  • Fiery Redhead: As it's expected of a redhead, he's quite boisterous, action-orientated, easily drawn into an argument and not afraid to use his fists to solve problems.
  • Ki Manipulation: His ultimate monk techniques such as Shura Tekkou.
  • Rhyming Names: Raiga Straiga.
  • Rugged Scar: He has a large scar across his nose and is the roughest member of his party.
  • Sleeves Are for Wimps: Being the tough fighter of his party, he wears a sleeveless shirt.

The swordsman of Alicia's party.

  • BFS: Wields a Zweihänder that Alicia can barely hold straight.
  • Forehead of Doom: According to Mabel he comb his hair over a big forehead.
  • I Call It "Vera": He names his favorite sword "Hell Shredder Zwei" and cries whenever Alicia accidentally damages it.
  • Not So Above It All: He tries to be stoic, but will usually join whatever mayhem Raiga gets dragged into.
  • One-Handed Zweihänder: Though he prefers to swing his BFS with both hands, he is capable of striking an opponent one-handed when the situations requires.
  • Only Sane Man: He considers himself the party's lone voice of reason because Raiga is a Fiery Redhead and Alicia tends to be a Manic Pixie Dream Girl. In truth, he's Not So Above It All.
  • Razor Wind: His ultimate sword techniques such as Tempest Caliber and Hawk Soul Rampage.

  • Blackmail: He tries to trap Elf-san into service with a high debt that she can't pay off.
  • Clingy MacGuffin: He gets a ring from Uncle, and it magically sticks to him so he can't remove it.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: He's sneaky and always has ulterior motives, but also obsessed with his public image and proper business dealings. This results in ethics and rules of conduct he follows.
  • Eyes Always Shut: His default expression has his eyes closed.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: In all his encounters with Uncle, he ends up with a well-deserved humiliation.
  • Loan Shark: He lent Elf-san money in-exchange for a contract oath, with terms that she would either pay off the debt within a certain time or failing to do so, will result her being owned by him.
  • Villainous Rescue: He has Uncle rescued from an execution so that he can get the ring off his finger.

A hunter in service to Hargen Regfalgen.

  • Blood Knight: He lives to fight.
  • Broken Pedestal: He actually saved Alicia and her party from the Great Brown Bear King in Maua Forest and came to be admired by the group for his strength, when they meet again he is part of the group that kidnapped Uncle, then goes to attack them once he recognizes who they are.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: He shows incredible respect and friendliness to Uncle after suffering defeat to him.
  • Hidden Depths: He's a surprisingly chill guy when he's off the clock and even "teaches" Uncle how to free himself after being arrested again (i.e: bribing the guards).
  • Made of Iron: Survives being (accidentally and literally) dropped from the sky by Uncle.
  • Muscles Are Meaningful: He is as strong as he appears to be and is capable of giving the Hero Party a tough fight on his own.
  • Red Baron: He's known as "The Giant Hunter".
  • Villain with Good Publicity: He works as the enforcer for a sinister guild leader. He also tried to kill Alicia, Raiga, and Edgar with zero compassion despite the group looking up to him; doing so with an underhanded attack. Despite these traits Raiga and Edgar still look up to him as a role model.
  • Super-Scream: His most powerful attack, Gigantic Buster Horn, is a sonic blast that broke through Elf-san's defenses in a single hit.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He has no compunctions about kicking Alicia when starting a fight with the Hero Party and this is after he drops Elf-san out of the sky with his shout with full intention to kill her.

A prelate in the Capital of Ragligram.

  • Mind Control: His holy powers include mind control, as demonstrated when he took over Mabel's mind when she was called upon to deal with Uncle in the Capital.
  • Motive Misidentification: Uncle misindentifies what the prelate was going to do when he had Mabel under his control as going to do lewd acts on her, when he really just wanted her to kill Uncle.
  • Sinister Minister: A man of the cloth and a corrupt one at that.

A general who set up Alicia's party to be heroes.

  • General Ripper: He's pretty much a warmonger who wants to keep his army dominant. Subverted, in that his military budget isn't enough to help effectively deal with the threats that popped up due to a power vaccum between the monster factions after Uncle slayed the Venom and Blaze dragons (and his accidental destruction of the Luvaldram barrier), so he had to resort to giving inadequate warnings to any adventurers in the area in order to delay the goblin legion that Alicia's party was sent to deal with and evacuate the village. His own men point out that this is something out of character for him to be doing.

  • Blemished Beauty: Despite the scar on her forehead, she's still attractive.
  • Boyish Short Hair: Without her helmet, she looks feminine, but her short hair still makes her look boyish.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Her village was destroyed by goblins and is implied to be the Sole Survivor, but Uncle interrupts before she can explain fully.
  • Samus Is a Girl: Her first appearance is in armor. Her next appearance shows her with it off, revealing her femininity.

  • Missing Mom: Her daughter Mabel hasn't seen her since she was nine years old.
  • Parental Abandonment: She abandoned Mabel to run off with a younger man.
  • Write What You Know: In-Universe example. She wrote a book titled "All About The Ice Clan -A Noble Bloodline And Duty-" that contain all kinds of info on her clan and the God-Freezing Sword. It was mentioned by a soldier who was surprisingly very knowledgable about what the sword could do.

    Otom
A fellow knight and adventurer Uncle and Elf-san meet.
  • Former Teen Rebel: He was a delinquent before he met Sharion. He was quite embarrassed when it is brought up.
  • Interspecies Romance: With Sharion. He's human and she's a dragon shapeshifter.
  • Mistaken for Gay: Sharion actually thought Otom was gay for Uncle until he told her he was in love with her instead.
  • The Paladin: Sort of, he describes himself as a “saint swordsman that uses healing magic”.
  • Relationship Upgrade: With Sharion. By the end of their adventure with Uncle, they announce they are getting married.
  • Twice Shy: With Sharion. Both are too shy about their feelings, at least until he proposes to her.
  • Unresolved Sexual Tension: With Sharion, as they have been traveling together for quite some time and are obviously attracted to each other. It gets resolved when he asks her to marry him.

    Sharion

Otom's partner, a dragon girl who can shapeshift.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Played with, when Uncle played the memory of her first meeting with Otom which showed he was a delinquent in the past, her reaction to the memory was to say Otom was cute, though whether it was referring to him being a delinquent or just his younger self in general is not explained.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Being a dragon, she was long fangs.
  • Cute Monster Girl: She's a cute dragon girl who can grow horns and claws.
  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: Her eyes are hidden by her long bangs, highlighting her shy nature.
  • Horned Humanoid: She has small horns on her head.

    Nushi Magutsu
A long-dead wicked king, who ruled over a dungeon that adventurers now visit.
  • Demonic Possession: One of his titles is the Evil Transferer, due to his ability to change bodies. He ends up possessing Elf-san.
  • The Dreaded: He is known as the Carrion King, and his title is enough to terrify Otom and Sharion.
  • Enemy Mine: He was going to fight Uncle, but when anti-magical beasts appeared the two decided to team up to fight them, well aware of the gamble this was.
  • Sealed Evilina Can: he gets sucked into Uncle's hyperspace container. But he ends up getting freed later on.
  • Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe: Has a distinctive speech pattern that suits his ancient king status.
