Weird dreams

Last night I dreamed about competing in a special episode of Bake Off where I was part of a team of about 5. The weird part? Every contestant, including myself, was about 9 years old. And one of my teammates was my best friend from primary school that I haven't seen in years. Our resulting bake was a technicolour cake with cream and pomegranate filling between two vanilla sponges. Somehow, my team won.

I woke up with my stomach rumbling.

Only thing I can remember from my dreams last night was that there was a bizarre TV special that was live-action and featured a lot of Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera characters in it (portrayed by costumed actors) which had a plot that was pretty much just nonsense, and yet I recall it being oddly wholesome despite the nonsense at the same time. Unfortunately I cannot remember much that actually happened in it by this point besides Snagglepuss running down the street to catch up with a car driving away from him.

A far cry from the last dream I had that was sorta like this one, where it went from being Yogi Bear's birthday party to the citizens of Busytown fighting a satantic cult.

Recently, I had a dream where I was at a restaurant. There was apparently some hidden message on one of the walls, and I kept trying to see what the message was, but I don't think I ever figured it out.

I also recently had a dream in which my bed resembled a staircase, or possibly gym bleachers. I was sleeping on top of it... which I realize now would be pretty dangerous if I were to roll over (and I do tend to roll over in my sleep).

I had a dream about a TLP draft where people kept skeletons in their garage. It apparently held some cultural significance but people argued over whether any skeleton being in a garage, alive or dead, was too chairsy.

I dreamt we got an animatronic sheep, who purred and sang songs about kiddie lessons like eating vegetables and sharing, and also a baby doll. It was hard to tell if they were Living Toys or just designed in very complicated ways.

So I'm not the only one who dreamed of TLP. Glad to know I'm not crazy. Only in my case I was dreaming of drafts for tropes that already had pages.

My family and I were going to someone's wedding and then there was a Time Skip to Christmas morning in our house! My gifts were a DVD of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules and a T-shirt with a cartoon cat on it that said something but now I don't remember what it was.

They announced generations 10 and 11 of Pokémon on the same day. I had to change my epilepsy medication to play generation 10.

They made a CGI Easter special of CatDog. And it was narrated by Chris Pine. I think watching the new villian song from Wish (2023) had something to do with the latter.

A bit of context before explaining the following dream. Some days ago, I was playing Episode 4 of No End in Sight (a Doom mod). The second level has a very extensive design whose gimmick revolves around a Dual-World Gameplay: One half that is based on UAC tech and another that has the exact same layout but has Hell motifs. It's a very long, difficult level, but you don't need to go through all of it in order to beat it. Once you get one yellow key (there are eight, divided into two quartets, one in each half of the level), you can head to the exit in the light world. However, in the Dark World version of where that exit is, there's a small cache with the red key, which is necessary to get to the hidden exit leading to a Secret Level. It is also important to not break a certain barrel that is keeping a certain red-lock door in the light world, as it will keep it opening and closing periodically even after you use the red key, and its dark world version will also move accordingly (if you destroy the barrel, its door will close in full and so will the dark world equivalent thereof, and even if you open the former again you won't be able to make it to the latter in time before it closes). Getting to the latter will take you to a third version of the map (which was even more twisted than the other two), and exploring it (you'll find a boss monster in the way) will eventually take you to the secret level.

Now onto the dream...

It took place in this very level, and I was dreaming it because I had to play it twice in real life due to the Guide Dang It! part of the secret exit and how easily missable it is. Only now, the level was a Mario Kart racetrack, and the layout went through every part of it. But here's the thing: In the UAC tech half, the ones racing were Mario, Peach, Wario, Yoshi, Donkey, etc. while in the Hell half the ones racing were Luigi, Daisy, Waluigi, Birdo, Funky, etc. (basically their direct complements or counterparts). So I was curious to know who were the ones racing in the secret third dimension; after a while, I got to see them, but I couldn't recognize them: Instead of Mario or Luigi, there was a fat man similar to Talon from Ocarina of Time; instead of Peach or Daisy, there was this girl with leather pants and black cowboy shirts that looked even more tomboyish than Daisy (her hair was like that of Kei from Dirty Pair, only it was dark brown instead of red); instead of Wario or Waluigi, there was a man who looked like a mutant. And so on. They also were foul-mouthed.

Later in the dream, I saw myself playing Tears of the Kingdom, and I was on a part that seemed to be based on Kakariko Village, only it was raining intensely and the Blood Moon was at all times static in the sky instead of just passing by. Oh, and there was also a spa, and Paya asked Link if he would like to receive a full service from her (I haven't gotten to Kakariko Village yet in the game IRL, but I'm doubtful that there's a spa; I only know that there are some "rings" that began appearing).

I was doing a Nuzlocke run of some Pokémon game, and even though I wasn't at the end of the game, I still had a level 100 Pokemon (who looked like a red lizard creature with a similar body style to Gabumon), and I had two level 90 mons as well, while my other Pokemon were around level 36, and I even had a level 2 mon (who looked like Tweety Bird). There was also a Lucario with No Guard as an ability, and one of my level 90s was a Lairon named Miriam, who was male.

Last night, I had a dream that Keanu Reeves came to my family's house for dinner. We were discussing his various roles, and it turned out that there was some obscure Donkey Kong Country cartoon short that was made before the Donkey Kong Country TV series. Keanu Reeves voiced King K. Rool. I really want to hear what that would've sounded like.

Then I was transported into some fantasy computer game from the 90's that Reeves also had a role in. He played a Lazy Dragon character who gave helpful advice to the player. He was also very funny in a Deadpan Snarker way. His attitude was along the lines of "I could eat you if I wanted to, but I don't feel like trying right now."

The latest season of the Legend of Vox Machina dropped but it was missing a lot of its party members since their actors got into controversy.

I dreamt a woman tried to teach an alien what made humans tick by enrolling him at an elementary school.

Three nights ago I had a dream that Four Eyes, Zero Soul got vandalized by some troper named Oenotropae (the homophonous connection wasn't lost on me) and the description was changed from:

...and then on Trope Talk there was a whole discussion about how this person was obviously a troll but could've genuinely just watched too much Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, or some other poorly dubbed work where pizza happened to be an in-universe Trademark Favorite Food, which led to a discussion on whether that phenomenon should be its own trope, with someone suggesting the laconic should be "When multiple works feature cuisine with the same consistent descriptions of what they're like, but completely mangled subtitles of what the food actually looks like regardless of what language the dub is in." So we all agreed to turn FEZS into a disambiguation page and clear the wicks without bringing it to TRS or even checking the actual issues of the trope itself, because we were so intent on trying to throw off ban evaders and trolls with this elaborate plan that 99% of the site (mods included) went wild. I think TRS got rapidly cleaned out because everyone was swapping wicks to FEZS and getting problem tropes out of the way so we could continue the trainwreck.

Had a dream recently that involved having a Halloween party right outside my house. There was one point where I got startled by something - can't remember what.

Another random thing this dream involved was me playing Minecraft. Some things I remember from that included flying across a desert biome, building a pizzeria (which included a character who inexplicably resembled Mario), and also growing a whole field of beans for no particular reason.

I had a doozy of one last night.

I was waiting outside the Rainforest Cafe, hoping to get in, and I was given the menu, but it somehow turned into the one for McDonald’s. Then all of a sudden, I was in the driveway of the house my family had I used to have in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. I walked up to the house, and my mom was there. It seemed like she suddenly became a Friend to All Living Things, considering there were quite a few animals around the front yard when I came up. There were a couple of dogs and what I thought was big cat, but it was actually a Daeodon, and a bear. The bear was pretty friendly at first, even scratching my back, but then he put a bit too much strength into it. And I think he wanted to give me a Groin Attack, considering where he started sniffing. D:

When I was a child, I dreamed I found a magic wand that could change the color of anything. And also make it go back to its original color, if the user so desires.

Might've said this already, but Buffy fighting Gibdos with hard-boiled eggs for their heads in an abandoned Target above the UW library, wherein there was Sparkling Ice flavored lip gloss ($50) and an ice cream sculpture of the Eye of Sauron. ($1.23)

I had a dream that involved being at a zoo. Then, there was a part where I was watching a few new episodes of Milo Murphy's Law - all I remembered from it was that one of the episodes involved Milo and Sara exploring an underwater shipwreck, for some reason. (Maybe it's Grandpa Murphy's ship?)

There was also a TV series about Flight Rising, apparently. It was mainly about the adventures of an Aberration and her friend, a Skydancer.

I had a dream I was throwing away a hot chocolate packet in the trash for no reason. Nothing else to it tbh.

Persona 5 except it was ecchi.

I had a dream where my dad and his friends were celebrating the 15 year anniversary of their friendship (which is... strange, given that he's had a lot of friends for far longer than 15 years). Some of his friends brought their kids - one of them was trying to compliment another, but that kid took it as an insult due to not knowing what it meant, and threw a tantrum that included getting food everywhere.

Also, we were watching a cartoon aimed at adults that was on Disney+. For some reason, it was rated G, but also had a note in its description that it was intended for mature audiences (an odd simultaneous case of What Do You Mean, It's for Kids? and What Do You Mean, It's Not for Kids?). To be fair, the actual contents of the cartoon were fairly tame, from what we saw of it^note I feel like this show probably would have a TV-PG rating if it were real, just going from the drug references alone. - it seemed to basically be about two stoners on a desert island, and a duck. Also, it was pretty clearly a "Stoners Are Funny" kind of show. There was a part where they ate a cake, and then floated around (with the duck) in the water, while repeatedly laughing and saying "Dude..." to each other. The duck quacked occasionally.

We were also doing a stage play adaptation of the stoner cartoon. I was cast as the duck.

Earlier this month, I dreamed that my Grami had somehow moved the furnace in her open basement, and this was somehow causing fire mirages to appear in the basement. I saw two Dalmatians looking in one of the basement windows, implying that the fire department was nearby.

Speaking of Dalmatians, for a period of time in the late 2010's before I watched the original 101 Dalmatians movie in 2020, my brain would occasionally try to make me feel uncomfortable in my dreams using my childhood Cruella-o-phobia. Usually, I just dreamed of a trailer for a reboot of the franchise. However, one time, I dreamed of a Screamer Prank!

In the dream, I was browsing YouTube on my phone, and I found a video that was uploaded by TheVideoLover2 (whose current account has a "3" instead of "2"). The thumbnail showed the 1997 Children’s Television Workshop logo, but with a yellow-and-orange gradient background. The title of the video said that it featured a rock version of the logo’s music, so I tapped on it.

The thumbnail and rock music were nowhere to be found in the actual video. Instead, it started off in a room with a small clock that my grandparents have in their spare room. As the camera started to slowly zoom in on the clock with a tilt, an extended version of the 1997 CTW music started playing. It started with a "revving up" of the first note, then extended the 8-note tune by repeating the notes in the following way: "1 2 3 4 5 6 7, 5 6 7, 5 5 6 7, 1 2 3 4 5 6 7, 5 6 7, 5 5 6 7…"

It never reached the eighth note. Instead, that looping music faded out as a quiet, long and maybe slightly ominous ascending tone played. Then the camera stopped zooming when it got to one of the spheres that rotate below the clock.

After a few seconds of silence, a tiny, animated picture of Cruella’s face appeared on the sphere. Even though the picture looked harmless by real-world standards, it was accompanied by a loud, long, ear-piercing scream. Eventually, an evil chuckle overlapped with the scream before it cut off abruptly. The video then slowly faded out, after which suggested videos appeared on my screen as if I was watching it on a laptop or desktop, even though I was using my phone in fullscreen mode. I then woke up shortly after.

There’s also another dream I had that was inspired by the user now known as TheVHSAndCDBrony reuploading a fake VHS closing that I typed about on the Screamer Prank subpage. In the dream, I was skimming through a VHS closing video that he had uploaded, when I suddenly came across something that scared me. I don’t remember what the background was like (I think it was mostly blue), but I heard a clanging sound to the rhythm of "Shave And A Haircut", which was followed by a heartbeat sound. During the latter sound, an Oobi-style hand puppet rose up to look at the camera. That is when I stopped watching the video.
