Misused: Grumpy Bear

Go To

To-do list:

  • Since Grumpy Bear is now a disambiguation page, wicks that fit any of the tropes on the disambiguation page should be moved accordingly, and ones that don't should be removed.

Original post:

Grumpy Bear is supposed to be about a cynical character in a Sugar Bowl world but most (like 99%) of the examples are about grumpy characters because of the bad name. The misuse is so bad the only wick I could find that actually matches the description was a Playing With/ page. I think the only way we can fix this is to turn Grumpy Bear into a disambiguation between The Eeyore, Sour Supporter and some other tropes I am forgetting and then yard the original definition if we can't find enough examples to do a transplant. The old TRS thread here suggested Grumpy Character Saccharine Show as an alt title so we can use that if we decide to rename or yard.

Wick Check

Since there are so few correct examples, I think we can yard Grumpy Character Saccharine Show and disambiguate Grumpy Bear.

Also, I'm assuming you're morguing the dupe?

[up]I agree with disambiguating Grumpy Bear and Yarding the original meaning, since, as mentioned, there aren't enough correct examples for this to thrive if we cut misuse.

I think we can leave the name up to TLP if we Yard it instead of running a name crowner, and just focus on disambiguating this page if that's what we end up doing.

I agree that this needs a new name, but if we're sending this back to TLP due to the wick check only finding one correct example out of 50, I think the name should be something for TLP to decide. We can always put a name suggestion on its Salvage Yard listing.

Disambig for now, plus The Cynic and Silly Rabbit, Idealism Is for Kids!. I think the four tropes would cover everything.

Not confident in making a new trope without that many valid examples at hand, so it's something that can be thrown into yard unless someone wants to TLP it.
