Heretic Archduke
Voiced by: Takeaki Masuyama (credited as "Sasazaki Kojirou")
"I will change the world... Even if the method by which I do so is a little eccentric."
Arcana: Hermit
The main protagonist of Venus Blood -Gaia-. A scholar of mixed human and demon blood who has become the Archduke of Energeia. When his research into Ether succeeds, he believes to have found the key to saving the world, even though it is considered heretical by the world's nations.
  • Guest Fighter: He appears in Venus Blood -Hollow- as a battle-only unit, in both his regular and awakened forms.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is based on Theophrastus von Hohenheim, also known as the legendary alchemist Paracelsus, and Theofrad's own goal is to use heretical science in order to save his world.
  • Naughty Tentacles: As a side-effect of an experiment to implement an Ether Drive into his own heart, he has the power to manifest tentacles of Ether at a whim.
  • Villain Protagonist: If the Chaos path is taken, he betrays his friends and original goals in favor of gaining the same mastery over Ether that Belios achieved via Deal with the Devil.

Titie

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_titie.png
Maiden of the Sun
Voiced by: Yukina Fujimori (credited as "Sawashiro Rizu")
"I made a cake! Theo, let's eat it together with everyone!"
Arcana: Sun
A young, sickly girl that lives with Theofrad. Her constant cheerfulness helps to motivate others. However, within her body lies an unbelievable secret.
  • Ascended Extra: She stars in her own After Days episode.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: In the Chaos route, Theofrad turns her into an emotionless doll under his control to make a deal with the Demiurge. However, she's kidnapped by Belios and suffers a different kind of mental manipulation before the pact is fulfilled.
  • Faceā€“Monster Turn: In the Chaos route, Belios kidnaps her while she's Brainwashed and Crazy and he's been abandoned by the Demiurge in favor of Theofrad, having a back-up plan to convert her into a monstrous progenitor of new Divine Beasts.
  • Final Boss: Of the Chaos Route, due to her Faceā€“Monster Turn.
  • Guest Fighter: She appears in Venus Blood -Hollow- as a battle-only unit, but only in her base form; her Phoenix and Chaos route Final Boss forms are excluded due to unit size limitations and technically not being the same Titie.
  • Happily Adopted: Early into the game, Theofrad describes his bond with Titie as akin to that of a parent wanting to protect their child, and Titie herself is happy to assist Theofrad however she can.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In the Law route, after the Demiurge is destroyed but its curse will still kill the majority of Parastra's population, she sacrifices herself to spread the Phoenix's blessing of life.
  • The Phoenix: Her "unbelievable secret" is the existence of a Phoenix as a secret sixth Divine Beast, of which she is the human incarnation.
  • Walking Spoiler: Her "unbelievable secret" plays a major role in the final chapters of the game.
  • We Named the Monkey "Jack": In the Chaos Route, after being turned into the progenitor of mutant Divine Beasts that Theofrad names GIGAS, the two that she created turn out to be named Theo and Milia.

Teria

Voiced by: Miya Serizono (credited as "Sakaki Haruno")
"I'll help you out too, okay, Fraddy?"
Arcana: Empress
A young girl who carries fragmented memories of the ancient past. Even though her power is limited, she's capable of performing feats far above those of regular men.
  • Ascended Extra: She stars in her own After Days episode.
  • Being Tortured Makes You Evil: In the Chaos route, after Theofrad betrays the rest of the party and sides with the Demiurge, Teria is knocked out trying to destroy them, only for Energeia's scientists to recover her body and torture her until she is fully devoted to serving Theofrad's new evil ambitions.
  • God in Human Form: As their similar names, appearances, powers, and shared Arcana hint at, she's the embodiment of a fraction of Esteria's power.
  • Guest Fighter: Although her canon form does not appear in any Updated Re-release as a bonus character, a fully-powered version of her designed by a fan appears as a battle-only unit in both Venus Blood -Frontier- and Venus Blood -Hollow-.

Rein Siedeln

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_rein.png
Succubus Secretary
Voiced by: Maki Tomonaga (credited as "Himari")
"Heheh. Embrace your ambition, and let us live a life of desire."
Arcana: Moon
A succubus who works for Theofrad as his secretary. She finds revolutionary concepts appealing, and fully supports Theofrad's decision to save the world with heretical techniques, assisting him both tactically and in combat.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Theofrad, to the point that, in the Chaos route, she accepts his plan to side with the Demiurge and fights alongside him and Lala against every other major character.

Lala

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_lala.png
Embryo Maiden
Voiced by: Yuki Sakata (credited as "Saki Yutaka")
"Ether reserves at critical levels. I require an immediate refill... of... Eth... Zzzzz."
Arcana: Strength
A mechanical girl referred to as an "Embryo", who serves as Theofrad's bodyguard. She has a habit of single-mindedly focusing on any mission assigned to her, often forgetting her own energy levels in the process and needing to recharge in the middle of a task.
  • Robot Girl: She's an artificial woman that's acted as Theofrad's guardian ever since he installed a rechargeable Ether Drive in her as a permanent power source.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Theofrad, to the point that, in the Chaos route, she accepts his plan to side with the Demiurge and fights alongside him and Rein against every other major character.

Lucretia

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_lucretia.png
Frivolous Merchant
Voiced by: Miyuu Kashiwagi (credited as "Toudou Misaki")
"You've gotta dream big! Come then, let's talk business!"
Arcana: Temperance
A merchant that operates the Feather Firm travelling caravan, who willingly does business with Theofrad. Although she's mainly an opportunist that barters information, she's also capable of providing magical support with her music.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Shortly after being recruited for the birthing program, Theo sees Lucretia bemoaning her pregnant belly. Feeling a pang of remorse for strong-arming her in the first place, he tries to make amends — only to find that she doesn't care about that all, she's just upset because it makes it harder for her to lead her merchant firm.
Lucretia: I'm invoicing you for any damages we incur while I can't get to the workplace!
  • Captain Obvious: Played for laughs when she starts dramatically talking about her backstory:
Lucretia: Like most other people, I was born! (no shit, lady)
  • Cute Monster Girl: A very voluptuous and attractive harpy girl.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: At least the way she tells it. She was orphaned at a very young age due to the constant wars, and was picked up by a traveling merchant group. She says they worked her to the bone and suspects they were only grooming her for when she grew up, but she ended up running off before they could and used what she had learned from them to start her own business. Privately, Theo thinks she might be exaggerating for the sake of storytelling.
  • Greed: Her single greatest vice. She has no problems letting Theo experiment with her body, just as long as she gets paid. She even uses her status as a Mother to Ovims to extort even more money from him.
  • Winged Humanoid: As one of the Winged Folk, who look like just normal people with wings.

H-MAN

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_h_man.png
Voiced by: Sasazaki Kojirou
A humanoid automaton known as a Golem that was constructed in Energeia, who's quite popular with children.
  • Identity Amnesia: Haman the soldier was violent and disrespectful, while H-MAN the Golem is kind and caring.
  • Was Once a Man: He's what becomes of Haman, of the Granyeld Empire, after he's sacrificed by Ash and Theofrad tries to restore him but fails to recover his mind or soul.

Lamina

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_nocturne_blade.png
Nocturne Blade
Voiced by: Ume Tsubaki
The Nocturne Elf leader of Energeia's defense force, who is fascinated by the applications of Ether energy.
  • Old Maid: This public, Safe-For-Work Kickstarter update states that one of the scenes added in the International version is Lamina being upset over the possibility of being replaced, as she's unable to bear Arcana Avatar progeny and she's Always Second Best compared to their potential. Theofrad comforts her by stating there will always be a place for her at his side, and offers to make a biological child with her instead.

Alegria

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_nocturne_scholar.png
Nocturne Scholar
Voiced by: Saki Yutaka
A Nocturne Elf who assists Theofrad with his research of Ether energy, and doubles as one of his personal bodyguards.

Irma

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_orcish_rider.png
Orcish Rider
Voiced by: Shibuya Hime
A half-Orc girl that serves as one of Theofrad's bodyguards, riding upon her Ether-powered weapon Ridoria.

Little Whisper

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_little_whisper.png
Voiced by: Sakaki Haruno
A fairy that was banished from the Fay for being seduced by Ether, now serving as one of Theofrad's bodyguards.

Willow

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_ether_wisp.png
Ether Wisp
Voiced by: MAIKO
A will-o-wisp who was mutated into being dependent on Ether energy to survive, who is not only another of Theofrad's bodyguards, but is also the operator of the city of Energeia.
  • Become a Real Boy: This public, Safe-For-Work Kickstarter update states that one of the scenes added in the International version is Theo reminiscing over how she was his very first test subject for Ether manipulation back in his days at the Numerology Institute, in order to give her a physical form instead of one of intangible magic.
  • Old Maid: Like Lamina, her new scene in the International version has Willow lament that her body is unable to produce Arcana Avatar progeny. And also like Lamina, Theofrad reassures her that despite that, she will always have a place by his side.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Her new scene in the International version reveals that Theofrad would never have succeeded at manipulating Ether or creating his Arcane Avatar theory, the consequences of which cause the game's inciting incident, without her assistance.

Horustaur

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_horustaur.png
Voiced by: Misonoo Mei
A member of a minotaur sub-race that's skilled with agriculture, and also acts as Theofrad's last bodyguard.
  • Our Minotaurs Are Different: She's part of a sub-race that looks more like a buff human woman with cow features than a traditional bull-person.

    Holy Dragon Empire of Granyeld

Milia Elifard

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_milia.png
Zealous Holy Dragon Knight
Voiced by: Sakiko Fukata (credited as "Aoi Tokio")
"I do not wish to see those I care for suffer in front of me ever again..."
Arcana: Wheel of Fortune
A knight of Granyeld that has earned a special position due to her affinity to Granyeld's Divine Beast, the responsibility of which weighs her down. She wants to use her power to protect the innocent, but the war against an old friend causes her to reconsider who and what she's fighting for.
  • Childhood Friends: Despite being a representative of the territory most against Theofrad's actions, she hesitates fighting against him due to being his friend back when he was a mere student studying in her territory. As she is a main love interest, this can therefore develop into a Childhood Friend Romance.
  • Defector from Decadence: Milia willingly defects to Theofrad's side early on, after the Empress commands her to launch an attack on Energeia that would also destroy the non-heretical Diaheld Kingdom as collateral.
  • Developers' Desired Date: Although Theofrad can have bonding (and lewd) moments with every girl that joins his side, the main plot has multiple scenes of the two talking about their feelings, and the Chaos Route has a mutated Titie name her creations after Milia and Theofrad.
  • Draconic Humanoid: Upon fully awakening her connection to Bahamut, she's able to manifest draconic features such as a tail.
  • Hero Antagonist: In the Chaos route, she rebels against a Villain Protagonist Theo and forms the Five Miko Alliance to try and stop him before he dooms the world. This applies doubly so in the International edition, as a new scene has an Alternate Self of her from a dimension where she achieved divinity appear as back-up.
  • It's Personal with the Dragon: While Theofrad is just defending himself from Esteria, Milia has a strong personal connection to Ash after defecting to Theofrad's side, with an entire subplot building up to a confrontation between them.
  • Spin-Offspring: One of the new units added to Venus Blood -Frontier- International by a backer, at a tier high enough to receive her own scene, is an alternate-universe daughter of hers called Dragon Maiden Mio.

Esteria Bahamut

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_esteria.png
Lightning Empress
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_bahamut.jpg
The Holy Dragon Bahamut, Esteria's true form
Voiced by: Miya Serizono (credited as "Sakaki Haruno")
"I cannot allow the existence of this abominable energy known as Ether..."
Arcana: Empress
Granyeld's leader, and the human incarnation of its own Divine Beast, the Dragon of Creation and Destruction. Considered the single strongest being in all of Parastra, she commands great respect from everyone, empire citizens especially.
  • Ascended Extra: She stars in her own Dark Chronicles episode, though she looks more like Teria than herself in it due to her body being converted into an Embryo.
  • Dark Secret: The main reason she goes to such great lengths to silence the Ether-using heretics is to preserve her darkest secret: that the Divine Beasts were all originally created from Ether, and are not truly divine in origin.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: Most of -Gaia- builds up to the confrontation with her; although Belios continues meddling in events and Ash takes on a more directly antagonistic role, the latter is following Esteria's orders and it's the Empire's declaration of war against Theofrad that kicks the game off. However, the Empire is fully dealt with in Chapter 6, leaving Belios and his master as the main antagonists for the rest of the game.
  • God in Human Form: She's the human embodiment of the Divine Beast that created Granyeld long ago.

Ash Helos

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_ash.png
Blazing Executor Knight
Voiced by: Ume Tsubaki
"In the name of the Holy Dragon, I will dispose of this apostle of heresy...!"
Arcana: Fool
The commander of Granyeld's military, and a fanatical supporter of Empress Esteria. Unlike her subordinate Milia, she shows no mercy to heretics on the battlefield.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: After her defeat in Chapter 6, Belios steals her unconscious body and brainwashes her to fight on his side.
  • Cavalry Betrayal: After the Empire's attack in Chapter 1 (which would have also taken out Diaheld) fails, she then convinces the elves of Diaheld to launch their attack with a promise of protection that she had no intention of keeping.
  • Create Your Own Hero: Her I Have Your Wife moment was meant to demoralize Milia, especially after killing the hostages in front of her. Instead, it strengthens Milia's resolve, guaranteeing that she'll never return to the Empire, and leads directly to her defeating Ash in battle moments later.
  • The Dragon: While Esteria, an actual dragon, is the one that instigated conflict against Theofrad, Ash is the one that fights on the frontlines and poses a more direct threat.
  • I Have Your Wife: After Theofrad's met with Parastra's other leaders, she confronts Milia and attempts to convince her to rejoin their side by holding Milia's parents hostage. When Milia is unsure how to respond, Ash gets tired of waiting and kills Milia's parents right in front of her, hoping to unnerve Milia before going in for the kill and preventing her from fighting against Esteria. This backfires spectacularly.
  • Lack of Empathy: She doesn't care about anyone other than her Empress, including her own subordinates, as exemplified in her very first appearance when she sacrifices Haman to save herself and cracks a joke while doing so.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: In the original release of Gaia, Ash dies permanently after being brainwashed to fight for Belios. However, according to this public, Safe For Work Kickstarter update, the International version has a new scene where Theofrad recovers her body and subjects her to Brainwashing for the Greater Good.
  • Subordinate Excuse: Her most notable trait is her absolute, unbreakable devotion for Esteria.

Haman

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_haman.png
Voiced by: Sasazaki Kojirou
A violent soldier assigned to the Granyeld Empire's guardian forces.
  • Human Shield: Ash uses him as a "Haman" Shield during the Empire's attack at the end of Chapter 1.
  • Starter Villain: He's the first commander that Granyeld sends to attack Theofrad, with his failure leading to him being reassigned as Milia's subordinate soon after.
  • We Can Rebuild Him: Following Ash using him as a Human Shield, Theofrad attempts to rebuild him but fails to restore his mind or soul, resulting in the Golem known as H-MAN.

    Forest Kingdom Diaheld

Kukul Kanan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_kukul.png
Viridescent Guardian
Voiced by: Sahomi Koyama (credited as "Misonoo Mei")
"I'm not jealous at all... After all, we have our own traditional beliefs that we uphold!"
Arcana: Lovers
An elven lancer that loves the forest kingdom that is her and her brother's home, taking pride in fighting alongside her comrades to protect it. Although she joins in the hostilities against Energeia, she is also curious as to what its research could potentially lead to.
  • Brotherā€“Sister Incest: In the uncensored version of the game, if Theofrad has high enough affection with both Kukul and Elmin, they can end up having a threesome.
  • Defector from Decadence: Similar to Milia, she ends up defecting to Theofrad's side willingly after the Elven elders decide to sacrifice Elmin, followed by Theofrad saving her brother.
  • Sibling Team: She treasures her brother dearly, and they fight together to protect their home.

Elmin Kanan

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_elmin.png
Kind-hearted Archer
Voiced by: Tezuka Ryouko
"Even I am a warrior of Diahelm..."
Arcana: Hierophant
Kukul's younger brother. As he spent most of his life cut off from the outside world, he tends to act rather naively.

Quetzalcoatl

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_quetzalcoatl.jpg
Feathered Serpent
Voiced by: Tezuka Ryouko
Diaheld's Divine Beast, who blesses the forests with prosperity and controls the winds with its wings.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Belios manages to awaken and take control of it with his Ether magic before Elmin can be sacrificed to power it up.

    Enchanted Realm Takamagahara

Seimeiin Tomoe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_tomoe.png
Pure Miko
Voiced by: Oma Ichimura (credited as "Mitou Sana")
"Everyone, let's do our best! I'm right there with you all!"
Arcana: High Priestess
The shaman who had the highest affinity for the land's Divine Beast, who was originally a willing servant of its Imperial Court but became its leader through Tamamo's wisdom and encouragement. She is a kind and merciful individual, but her innocence can be both a boon and a detriment.
  • Defector from Decadence: In what's certainly a trend for major characters, she and Shigure end up defecting to Theofrad's side after the Imperial Court goes behind her back to not only launch a sneak attack during negotiations, but also sell out their territory to the Granyeld Empire behind her back.
  • I Surrender, Suckers: Against her desires, as her first meeting with Theofrad was supposed to be a peaceful negotiation, but the Imperial Court sent ninja assassins behind her back; Tomoe ends up putting the ninjas to sleep herself, but Energeia still goes on the offensive due to the breach of trust.
  • Miko: Although all of the various national leaders are referred to as "Miko" due to their connection with the Divine Beast, Tomoe embodies the spirit of this Trope the most, as she's also a pure-hearted priestess that's dressed in red and white ceremonial robes, and whose connection with the divine is strong enough to manifest it within her mortal body.
  • Soul Jar: According to this safe-for-work Kickstarter update, a new scene added in the International release's Chaos route has Theofrad, now Tomoe's enemy, remove Tomoe's soul from her body and place it in an automaton designated T-MOE, in order to bind the remains of Tamamo's spirit into a compatible vessel and use her as a weapon against the other heroines that now oppose him.
  • Stripperific: The uncensored version of her Miko robes removes a significant portion of her outfit, exposing her bare stomach, stocking-clad legs, and lower undergarment.

Asadori Shigure

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_shigure.png
Loyal Samurai
Voiced by: Harumi Asai (credited as "Momozono Kaoru")
"I dedicate this blade and life to my liege...!"
Arcana: Star
Tomoe's servant and bodyguard, who also has a lesser connection to the Divine Beast. Tomoe completely trusts her, and in return, Shigure is willing to sacrifice her life to protect her master.
  • Dual Wielding: She charges into battle with a greatsword in one hand and a kodachi in the other.
  • Oni: Her race, represented by her horns and her superhuman strength.

Tamamo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_tamamo.png
The Harmonious Wise Golden Fox
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_tamamo_kitsune.jpg
The Golden Fox Tamamo, Tamamo's true form
Voiced by: Yuri Takamura (credited as "Shibuya Hime")
"Stand back, for I am none other than the Nine-tailed fox, Tamamo!"
Arcana: High Priestess
The Divine Beast of Takamagahara who blessed the land with knowledge. Unlike Bahamut of Granyeld, she is unable to take on a human form and must channel herself through Tomoe.
  • Asian Fox Spirit: Her true form is a Nine-Tailed Fox, and when possessing Tomoe, she alters her physical form to have blonde hair, fox ears, and a fox tail.
  • Dark Secret: Like Esteria, she's fully aware of the horrible secret that the Divine Beasts were created from Ether. However, as her domain is knowledge and wisdom, she preferred to guide mortals to the truth rather than outright reveal it.
  • Little Bit Beastly: Upon being Sealed Inside a Person-Shaped Can in the International release's new scene, the body gains even more beastly features than it did through mere possession, such as her hands turning into furred claws.
  • Sealed Inside a Person-Shaped Can: According to this safe-for-work Kickstarter update, a new scene added in the International release's Chaos route has Theofrad place Tomoe's soul into a Soul Jar, and then seals the remains of Tamamo's Essence into the empty shell left behind, intending to use her as a weapon against his new enemies.
  • Symbiotic Possession: She takes over Tomoe's body when the latter channels the power of a Divine Beast, and treats Tomoe like her grandchild.

    HM Fort Loughs

Mary Drake

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_mary_drake.png
Golden Pirate Princess
Voiced by: Yuuki Kondo (credited as "Yuzuki Sachi")
"Let us meet again, somewhere on the vast ocean... Alright?"
Arcana: Chariot
The captain of the Golden Hind pirate galleon, who used her connection to a Divine Beast in order to claim an archipelago in Parastra as her own territory. She is cheerful and free-spirited while also being reliable to her allies.
  • Enemy Mine: She originally attacks Theofrad for the potential spoils, and then sides with him against Belios when the latter is after Cetus' sacred treasure, before making a full commitment to Theofrad's cause at the end of her introductory chapter.
  • Meaningful Name: As the captain of a galleon called the Golden Hind and with the last name Drake, she's directly inspired by the legendary privateer Sir Francis Drake.
  • Moment Killer: In Lucretia's ending of the original version of Gaia, Mary ends up interrupting her time with Theofrad because she has business with Lucretia. However, according to this public, Safe For Work Kickstarter update, a vote between high-tier backers for the International version resulted in a new scene where those two are able to be intimate without Mary interfering.
  • Pirate Girl: She's an attractive young lady swashbuckler that's been able to take command of her own archipelago due to an innate connection with the Divine Beast.
  • Walking Swimsuit Scene: According to this safe-for-work Kickstarter update, a new scene added in the International release has Theofrad decide to "punish" Mary for attacking them earlier by making her wear a one-piece swimsuit laced with Naughty Tentacles.

  • Deity of Human Origin: As stated in this Public, Safe-For-Work Kickstarter update, one of the new scenes added to the International version is Chaos-route Theofrad conducting an experiment that accidentally inverts her dark magic into divine magic and results in Carmilla ascending to become a Goddess, though not one powerful enough that he can't subdue her afterwards.
  • Hermaphrodite: In the uncensored version of the game, she can use dark magic to grant herself both male and female sexual organs to have fun with her Ninja Maid Vanilla.
  • Vampire Monarch: She's the vampiric leader of Alhazred, and has been for centuries.

  • Guest Fighter: She appears in Venus Blood -Hollow- as a battle-only unit, in both her "Day" and "Night" forms.

  • Ninja Maid: She's Carmilla's head maid in addition to acting as one of her top generals in the war against Theofrad.
  • Undeathly Pallor: Although her "Day" form has her appear as a regular person, her true "Night" form has blue skin and red eyes with black sclerae.

Orte

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venusblood_gaia_orte.png
Voiced by: Mitou Sana
A female Garode (werewolf) who's leading a resistance movement against Alhazred.
  • Deal with the Devil: After breaking her pact with Theofrad, Orte attempts to make a pact with Beelzebub herself, and the Divine Beast's "blessing" turns her into an undead, berserk wolf.
  • Faceā€“Heel Turn: She originally presents herself as an ally to Theofrad, hoping that his Ether techniques can defeat Carmilla, as the power of the moon her people rely on has been diluted due to the curse of constant night caused by her family. However, after Carmilla offers to host a peaceful dinner to explain her side of the story, Orte treats Theofrad agreeing to negotiate as a betrayal and breaks their alliance.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: In the original version of Gaia, Orte had to be slain by the protagonists after Beelzebub transformed her into her berserk servant. However, according to this public, Safe For Work Kickstarter update, a vote between high-tier backers for the International version resulted in a new scene where Theofrad implants an Ether-powered heart like his own into Orte's body, saving her life at the cost of making her dependent on Ether to survive.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/venus_blood_belios.png

Arcana: World
A mysterious man who invades Energeia despite also dabbling in Ether, with his own army of mechanical soldiers and warped beasts, because he abhors the entire world and attacks indiscriminately.
  • Arc Villain: While most of the game focuses on the Holy War, he's the main threat of the Diaheld and HM Fort Loughs missions, before taking prominence after the Empire's fall by (kidnapping Titie).
  • Cool Mask: He's always seen with a black eye-covering mask, giving him the title "Masked Avenger".
  • Deal with the Devil: He originally gained his power over Ether by making such a deal with the Demiurge, the ancient being that the Divine Beasts were originally created to stop from destroying the world.
  • Demonic Possession: In the Law route, he is possessed by the Demiurge after being defeated.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Theofrad; although they both dabble in Ether magic, have a loyal Embryo at their side, and even share a voice actor, Belios is a pure villain while Theofrad is only potentially driven to underhanded acts after being declared a heretic.
  • Glass Eye: Under his mask, one of his eyes was replaced with a Philosopher's Stone attuned to the Phoenix Divine Beast, extending his lifespan in addition to letting him take partial control of Titie.
  • Immortality Seeker: Ultimately, this is his main motivation, having only prolonged his life thus far with Ether and hoping to truly achieve immortality by uncovering and experimenting on the Phoenix Divine Beast.
  • Misanthrope Supreme: He loathes absolutely everything and everyone, and indiscriminately wreaks havoc across the land using his own form of Ether manipulation.
  • Villain's Dying Grace: In the Law route, right before the Demiurge takes control over his body, he issues one final command to Lulu, who at this point has been replaced by three superior models: to have Free Will and fight for whatever cause she chooses.

  • Robot Girl: Akin to Lala, she's am Embryo that's powered from an Ether Drive, but hers was installed by Belios.
  • The Rival: After their first encounter, she feels a sense of rivalry towards Lala.

A trio of cutting-edge Embryos created by Belios, to replace Lulu after repeated failures. The oldest, Ena, is calm and collected while sniping on the battlefield. The "middle child", Duo, enjoys the thrill of fighting and values power over all else. The youngest, Turia, has a cute appearance that hides her merciless nature.

The Demiurge

An ancient monstrosity that seeks vengeance upon the Divine Beasts upon being sealed away.
  • Final Boss: It's the final threat of the "Reign" route.
