Fly away my little Akuma!
A masked man who seeks to steal the Miraculous in order to combine them and gain ultimate power. He uses the Butterfly Miraculous to create akumas that corrupt civilians and transform them into superpowered beings under his control.

Unbeknownst to the heroes, his true identity is Gabriel Agreste, Adrien's absent father. He is a famous fashion designer but is always too busy with his job or his supervillainy to spend any time with his son.

  • 10-Minute Retirement: After Style Queen is defeated, he nearly renounces his Miraculous, but his interest resurfaced when Anatis fused the Snake and Ladybug Miraculous together to become Red Mamba. After learning there was a possibility he could do the same from Nooroo, he quickly dives right back into villainy when he gets the opportunity to akumatize a transformed Miraculous wielder (Chloé), which is just too tempting for him to pass up.
  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: His Sword Cane can slice clean through anything.
  • Abusive Parents: Zigzagged. While not physically abusive to Adrien, Gabriel can be emotionally abusive, such as micromanaging Adrien's entire life in trying to protect him from an unknown danger. As Hawk Moth, he claims that everything he's doing is to make Adrien happy, presumably by bringing his mother back. However, this could just as easily be his excuse to bring Emilie back for himself. While he toes the line at actually allowing Adrien to come to harm, he has no compunctions about akumatizing his close associates and risking him potentially getting caught in the crossfire.
  • Antagonist Abilities: His akumas can't be backtracked or traced, and he almost never takes part in fights himself. He also has no time limit when using his abilities and his akuma continue to function even if he's not transformed. Therefore, he can continue to attack Anatis and Lady Noire on an almost daily basis, secure in the knowledge that they have no way to ever bring the fight to him.
  • Archnemesis Dad: He often targets the students in Marinette's class, meaning that he's knowingly victimizing the friends of his son Adrien. It's unknown currently whether he ever suspected Adrien of being Aspik.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: His brand's logo is a butterfly, and there are subtle butterfly logos all over his mansion. Given that he only acquired the Butterfly Brooch after he established his company, these must have been in place well before he became Hawk Moth.
  • Bad Boss:
    • Downplayed, but he dumps the responsibility of taking care of his son on Nathalie, and tends to be harsh toward the Gorilla, even attempting to akumatize him twice (the second time succeeding).
    • Enslaved the butterfly kwami Nooroo despite Nooroo's warnings about the danger risked by using a kwami's powers for evil.
    • If people don't follow his orders, he's bound to threaten or try and take control of them unless they do their job.
  • Big Bad: He's the evil mastermind behind all of Paris's supernatural problems.
  • Bond Villain Stupidity: Gets a case of this every single time Anatis or Lady Noire falls prey to an akumatized victim's attack and becomes Brainwashed and Crazy. It never once occurs to him to take the Miraculous while he can. The most likely justification is that when the akumas can take thralls of their own, either of the heroes is generally the most powerful of said thralls, and the only one who could stand a chance against the other.
  • Broken Pedestal: Zigzagged. Marinette looks up to him since he's a famous fashion designer and all, but she and many other people that know him personally are aware that he's an Ice king Control Freak.
  • But Not Too Foreign: Implied. The last name "Agreste" indicates he is of Italian descent.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Deliberately creates supervillains, refers to his transformations as "evilizing" people, and freely admits his plots are evil. Subtle this one ain't.
  • Catchphrase:
    • "Fly away, my little Akuma, and evilize him/her!"
    • And when the Akuma finds its mark: "[Villain's name]. I am Hawk Moth..."
  • Classy Cane: His weapon is a cane with a purple gem encrusted on its handle, symbolizing how he commands all the other villains.
  • Clone by Conversion: If his akuma are released but not captured, they will clone themselves and infect anyone they can, turning their victims into mindless copies of the villain they originally created. If the original victim can be turned again, all the clones are enslaved to their will.
  • The Consigliere: What Nathalie is to him. He has a soft spot for her, so she's the only person whose advice he listens to.
  • Control Freak: Gabriel micromanages all aspects of Adrien's life, directly and by proxy.
  • Cool Mask: He wears a rather tight silver mask that conceals most of his face, save his eyes and mouth. When he's trying to communicate with his henchmen, a purple butterfly-shaped hologram appears in front of his eyes that matches the lines in his mask.
  • The Corrupter: Whenever he senses someone has powerful negative emotions, he sends out one of his akumas. The akuma amplifies those emotions and transforms the victim into an evil creature driven by that desire, who he then convinces to help him steal the Miraculous. It turns out he can do this to himself if he needs to.
  • Crazy-Prepared:
    • He owns the Miraculous spellbook, and has it hidden in a safe that no one should be able to access without the right code. However, in the event that does happen, he has scans of all the pages just in case.
    • In the event someone starts to suspect his civilian identity of being Hawk Moth, he can akumatize himself to throw off suspicion. This doesn't throw suspicion off of him completely, as Luka theorizes that he would do something similar if he were Hawk Moth.
    • His lair is kitted out with a defense system in the event that someone should break in.
  • Dark Is Evil: He taints his butterflies with black and purple energy before sending them off to corrupt someone.
  • Didn't Think This Through: His plan in "Style Queen" was to deliberately provoke Audrey Bourgeois as Gabriel so that she would be susceptible to akumatization. He didn't count on her going for Revenge by Proxy against Adrien when she couldn't get to him.
  • Disappeared Dad: Downplayed. Gabriel is physically present in Adrien's life and even micromanages his son's life to make sure Adrien is safe, but he's too busy with his job to actually spend time with his son.
  • Disneyland Dad: He has Adrien's entire life planned out in a calculated desire to protect him from the world, even going so far as to try and keep him home-schooled in spite of how lonely it makes him. Due to his job as a fashion mogul and his excursions as Hawk Moth, Gabriel could not actually be there for him and instead compensates using his vast fortune to keep his son happy and complacent with any material thing he wants.
  • The Empath: A villainous example. He can sense negative emotions anywhere in the city, with at least enough clarity to know exactly what the incident was that inspired them.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Despite being the Big Bad, Gabriel has his loved ones. His prime motivation for creating the akuma villains is to save his wife, Emilie, who has fallen into a coma and as time goes by is only falling deeper. In addition, Gabriel does legitimately love Adrien and claims that bringing Emilie back is for him. However, Gabriel has allowed his obsession with bringing Emilie back to interfere with his relationship with Adrien making him controlling and cold. Not including his family, Gabriel cares for his assistant Nathalie.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Between brainwashing innocent people and not being the least bit choosy about victims, there aren't a lot of lines Hawk Moth hasn’t crossed already. However, when it comes down to the wire, there is one thing he will never do: let Adrien get hurt.
    • In "Sandboy", he forbids Nooroo from communicating, striking the kwami mute. He quickly revokes this order, saying that he was joking and that even he's not that cruel.
    • In "Queen Wasp", he's shown to be torn between his love for his wife and his son. Keep up with the akumas and the villains and risk Adrien getting hurt to save/revive Emilie or give it up for his safety but never get his wife back or save his son's mother.
  • Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor: When Nooroo tries to go out for his birthday, he temporarily removes the poor kwami's mouth before playing it off as a "joke".
  • Evil Is Bigger: An official height chart gives Gabriel's height as 7'2"/220cm.
  • Evil Is Hammy: In costume, he embraces being a theatrical supervillain, a far cry from his civilian identity of the aloof, businesslike Gabriel Agreste.
  • Evil Is Not a Toy: A few of his own Akumatized creations have defied him, but most of them he can manipulate into doing what he wants.
  • Evil Only Has to Win Once: Loses nothing but time when his akumas are defeated, and so can afford to keep trying again and again.
  • Evil Virtues:
    • Creativity. While he tends to recycle the same Evil Plan — akumatize someone, let them cause havoc to attract the heroes, have the villain take their miraculous — he has proven to have a very firm understanding of his miraculous and has applied Loophole Abuse in order to maximize its effectiveness in a variety of clever ways, including akumatizing himself to throw off suspicion of his secret in "Collector".
    • Determination. His villainous champions have lost countless times and it only takes a major loss for him to lose his vigor, and even then it has been proven that it does not take much for him to reclaim his nerve.
    • Love. His end-goal is to procure the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous to wish his ailing wife back to full health, and one of his redeeming qualities is how he cares for his son. The only reason why he is such a Control Freak over Adrien is because he is afraid for his wellbeing and only wishes to ensure a promising future, and even then he is willing to bend his rules if Adrien asks nicely enough.
    • Loyalty. He is deeply offended by any suggestion that he's cheating on Emilie... whether the speaker meant to imply that or not.
    • Resourcefulness. He will sometimes use his civilian identity — aware that everyone sees him as a Control Freak and a tight-ass — to create akumas out of other people's hatred of him or use his power and influence to sow enough discontent among as many people as he can, as was the case with Style Queen.
  • False Flag Operation: He corrupts himself into the Collector to throw suspicion off of his civilian identity when he believed the heroes were getting too close to finding out who he was.
  • False Friend: To any villain he creates. Since he actually has no control over their actions, he has to pretend he is giving them their powers so they can accomplish their goals. In actuality, he is just using them to get his hands on Anatis and Lady Noire's Miraculous.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He may act like he's a friend to the villains he creates, but only as long as he's getting what he wants; the minute something goes wrong, out come the threats to remove their powers.
  • Foregone Conclusion: He is fighting the kwamis - literal laws of nature given physical form.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: With his cold, unfriendly personality, it's obvious. Even more as the true identity of Hawk Moth.
  • Godhood Seeker: He wants Anatis and Lady Noire's Miraculous because together they grant ultimate power.
  • Good Powers, Bad People: When used with its intended purpose, Nooroo's power should be turning people into The Champion or, as shown in "Queen Wasp", grant other Miraculous Users a Super Mode. Hawk Moth, however, uses it to corrupt people to suit his own ends.
  • Happily Married: Implied. While not much is known about Gabriel's relationship with his missing wife, there are moments that show they had a loving marriage — he keeps many pictures of her in their home, Adrien has said that ever since his mom disappeared, his dad had "changed".
  • The Heavy: All the other villains? He creates and directs them in the first place.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Played with. His unfriendly and callous behavior is responsible for at least three akumatizations; his status as Hawk Moth heavily implies he acted in such a manner not out of malice, but to goad potential victims into being upset enough to be akumatized.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: Gabriel's light blue eyes fit his cold, unfriendly bearing perfectly, and they can do one hell of a pitiless stare.
  • Ignored Epiphany: After Style Queen's defeat, he's fully prepared to give up trying to steal the Miraculous and move on with his life. However, seeing Anatis merge Miraculous together and Chloé outing herself as the holder of the Bee Miraculous and becoming vulnerable to being akumatized, Gabriel just can't resist taking another shot at winning.
  • Ironic Name: Same as Adrien; a posh fashion designer and millionaire whose surname comes from a Latin word meaning, "rustic".
  • Irony: The way his akuma minions look design-wise, you'd think that a fashion designer would have better taste (unless he's Not So Above It All or he does it deliberately so people don't realize they're the same person).
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: While he does tend to be a giant jerk, even to Adrien, to the point he doesn't allow him to do things most normal kids should be allowed to do, he still loves his son. Also, he is quite reasonable and fair most of the time. Through underneath that, he's actually...Hawk Moth.
  • Knight Templar Parent: Despite regular negligence of his son, Gabriel is actually this. Adrien claims that, until recently, his father refused to let him attend public school because Adrien leaving the house worried him. It appears that, by keeping his son as busy and isolated as possible, Mr. Agreste hopes to prevent Adrien getting into an unspecific danger.
  • Kubrick Stare: Pulls one of these in his transformation sequence, complete with Slasher Smile.
  • Light Is Not Good: Stands in a room filled with white butterflies, right in the beam of a large, handsomely wrought window. To some degree justified, at least with the white butterflies: he's perverting his Nooroo's benevolent powers for evil. His true identity, Gabriel Agreste, also wears a white suit, with bright red pants and highlights.
  • Logical Weakness: His miraculous has the power to give other people superpowers. This means that most of his plans involve him having to put his faith in other people to do all of the dirty work, but this has a few inherent limitations that he is forced to put up with.
    • First, while his minions aren't necessarily in their right mind, they still possess a free will of their own. They are capable of either ignoring him or misinterpreting his orders, often snatching defeat from the jaws of victory due to good old human fallibility. While threatening his villains with rescinding their powers or inflicting mild pain on them should they defy him works most of the time, there are times when this isn't enough. Gigantitan was incapable of listening or focusing on the task at hand due to being a toddler.
    • Second, the corrupting influence he has on his villains — often amplifying their darker impulses and silencing their civil conscience — tends to make them very easily distracted and prone to irrational behavior. Anatis and Lady Noire have used this against them numerous times, often using whatever led to Hawk Moth akumatize them as a distraction right before defeating them.
    • Third, barring exceptional circumstances, he can only akumatize one person at a time. While they are strong enough to require both Anatis and Lady Noire working as a team, the longer they fight to more Anatis and Lady Noire's teamwork begins to overwhelm them. When that doesn't work, they both still have every other miraculous to use against them in the event that they are not enough.
  • Loophole Abuse: Nooroo's power can't be used on the owner of the Miraculous, so when Gabriel has to get around people discovering his identity, he temporarily gives up being the holder of Nooroo to allow himself to be akumatized by an akuma he had previously created.
  • Love Makes You Evil: All of his supervillainy is to attempt to revive his comatose wife using Anatis and Lady Noire's Miraculous.
  • Make a Wish: This is why he wants both heroes' Miraculous. Whoever succeeds in merging the two will be granted a wish powerful enough to change reality or rewrite the past.
  • Manipulative Bastard: While he doesn't show it very often outside of taking advantage of his victims' Moment of Weakness, his civilian identity will occasionally tweak a situation to make people vulnerable to his akuma.
  • Man of Wealth and Taste: Just look at that pimpin' purple suit and that Classy Cane. Why would you expect anything less from a fashion designer?
  • Meaningful Name:
    • In French, a species of butterfly known as the grayling is called "agreste". He is Hawk Moth, who is butterfly/moth-themed yet prefers minimalist/neutral colors.
    • Zig-Zagged with his first name. In The Bible, Gabriel is one of God's messenger angels, who is most famously known for delivering the news to Mary that she was to be the mother of Jesus Christ. This corresponds nicely with what he should be as the bearer of the Butterfly Brooch, which is used to make ordinary people into extraordinary heroes. But as Hawk Moth, he inverts his name's meaning by using Nooroo to create villains instead of heroes.
    • As with most names ending in -el, "Gabriel" is a theophoric name (names specifically invoking and displaying the protection of a deity). The name "Gabriel" derives from Hebrew "Gavri'el", literally meaning "God is my strength". He's invoking the protection and strength of a Miraculous, specifically.
  • Morality Pet: He only cares for three people; Adrien, his wife, and Nathalie. Everyone else is either collateral or a tool for his Monster of the Week.
  • More than Mind Control: Hawk Moth's akuma amplify the negative emotions of his victims, then Hawk Moth plays on their desires to make them do what he wants.
  • My Beloved Smother: Gender Inverted and deconstructed. Gabriel is incredibly protective over Adrien, but it goes into Knight Templar Parent territory — Before allowing his son to attend public school, Gabriel kept Adrien homeschooled all of his life. Gabriel plans out every single detail of his son's life; makes unfair decisions in regards to his son, the main example being unwilling to allow Adrien a birthday party or deciding that he and Nino couldn't be friends anymore. All of these over-the-top, even emotionally abusive actions, are done in the hope of keeping his son away from some unspecified danger. It is a combination of this suffocating-like over-protectiveness as well as Gabriel's emotional abuse, neglect, and busy work schedule, that strains his relationship with his only child.
  • Mysterious Parent: While the true extent has yet to be revealed, the fact that Gabriel is aware of what the Miraculous are, secretly kept a book about them, and has the Peacock Brooch Miraculous implies that he is more connected to the supernatural happenings in Paris than he lets on. Adrien offhandedly mentions that even as Gabriel's own son, he doesn't know anything about him either. It's implied he was aware of the Miraculous and had the book and the Butterfly and Peacock Miraculous well before he actively started using them as Hawk Moth and it's even implied they had something to do with Emilie's current condition.
  • The Nicknamer: He gives the villain names to the citizens that are akumatized, and refers to them solely by these titles from the moment his akumas possess them.
  • Necromantic: He wants to use the wish granted by combining the Ladybug and Cat Miraculous to revive his comatose wife.
  • No Ontological Inertia: Averted. His akuma continue to function when Hawk Moth isn't actively transformed. Even when he deliberately renounces Nooroo's power and seals him in the butterfly brooch, they persist. The only way to stop them is to purify the akuma.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Hawk Moth's power is to give powers to others, whom he then controls, rather than gaining any powers of his own. As such, he waits in his dark room, sending out akuma to transform others so they'll do his work for him. He can defend himself with a Sword Cane in a pinch, but his performance suggests he lacks the stamina for a protracted battle.
  • No Self-Buffs: In theory, but he's found some clever loopholes.
    • He can empower others, but Nooroo's power doesn't work on whoever holds the Miraculous. When he needs to akumatize himself to throw off suspicion, he temporarily renounces his power so he'll be vulnerable to an akuma he created beforehand, fooling even Master Fū, who was aware of the immunity, but not the loophole. Though Luka des theorize it.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: He claims to care about his family and seek the Miraculous to make a better life for them, but he has way too much fun with his actions and manipulations for this to be entirely true. Plus, it's highly doubtful that his wife would want to be awoken from her coma at the cost he's willing to pay.
  • Opportunistic Bastard: Hawk Moth does not have any obvious day to day Evil Plan. While his overall goal is to acquire Anatis and Lady Noire's Miraculous, even he doesn’t know how he will go about it each day. He akumatizes whatever civilian he chances upon and from there mostly lets them decide how they will go about things.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Spends most of the series standing in the dark room he is in, and sends his butterflies when he detects a suitable victim. Justified, as his primary super power is the ability to bestow powers onto others.
  • Parental Neglect: While Gabriel's success ensures that Adrien is provided for financially, Gabriel himself is never around at home and only seems to contact his son through an iPad. Although judging from what Adrien means by Gabriel 'not being the same' since his mother disappeared, this might not have always been the case.
  • Personality Powers: As the series progresses, we see Gabriel as a Well-Intentioned Extremist who exhibits a distant personality with an authoritarian grip on every aspect of his life (from business to domestic life) who tends to take the good and wholesome things in his life — like his wife and son — and turn them into an obsession that he is perfectly willing to decimate all of Paris for — casualties be damned — if it means clinging to it. As Hawk Moth, he is able to empower, corrupt and manipulate anyone from the safety of his home, turning a tool that was meant to be used for good (the Butterfly Miraculous) into a weapon to fulfill his own selfish goals.
  • Powerful and Helpless: While Hawk Moth's powers are dangerous and versatile, he is only able to bestow such powers onto others and thus has to rely on others to do the work for him. Half the time he cannot even get his minions to cooperate, either carrying out his orders incompetently, completely ignoring him, or outright attacking him before he can incapacitate them. It does not help that his corrupting influence makes them easily distracted and irrational. While he is capable of defending himself against things when he absolutely has to, he typically prefers to hang back and let his akumas do the dirty work.
  • Psychotic Smirk: He gives these often as Hawk Moth, which is a huge contrast to how calm he is as Gabriel Agreste. His transformation sequence also ends with him giving a wink and subtle smirk.
  • Purple Is the New Black: His suit is predominantly purple with black highlights, and his akuma are imbued with (evil) purple energy.
  • Rags to Riches: It's insinuated his career came like this by Audrey Bourgeois, who claims Gabriel was a nobody before she discovered him. Of course, given Audrey's inflated sense of self, the story is dubious.
  • Satanic Archetype: He corrupts people with his akumas in a way very similar to Demonic Possession. He tempts those he corrupts and grants them power based on emotions so they can get him the Miraculous.
  • Sigil Spam: His butterfly symbol courtesy of the akumas and the glowing masks that appear on the faces of his supervillains. It almost proves to be his undoing, but some diabolical skulduggery on his part causes the heroes to wave off the fact that his motif is very similar to the logo of one of the biggest fashion designer brands in Paris.
  • Slasher Smile: During his transformation sequence, he sports an impressive one as soon as his mask is on.
  • Smug Snake: He's very confident in himself but repeatedly fails in his attempts to steal the heroes' artifacts, never bothers to change strategy, and always ends up crying in frustration and his moments of cleverness are few and far between.
  • The Sociopath: Oh, let's see: Ruthlessly manipulates people for his own ends? Check. Willing to cause ruination to Paris just to achieve his goals? Check. A grandiose sense of self-worth and a complete Lack of Empathy? Check. In fact, he could be classified as a downright monster if it weren't for the fact that he dearly loves his wife and son (and even then, he consistently shows that said son's physical and emotional well-being is expendable if it gets him closer to bringing back his wife).
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: While Gabriel is a stoic and aloof man, he does beam with pride when he talks about Adrien to Ladybug. He can also be fairly reasonable.
  • Super-Empowering: His Miraculous grants the power to empower others. He infuses a butterfly with his power, creating an akuma which then infects someone experiencing a strong negative emotion. The victim is granted Personality Powers, centered on an object involved in the incident. Though Hawk Moth uses this power for evil, its original intent is to create heroic champions. It's not clear how this works in comparison to his use of it.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: His minions often get distracted by their own interests, forget about getting the Miraculous, and at worst even ignore his warnings when Anatis or Lady Noire are conning them.
  • Survivor's Guilt: Whatever it was that motivated Emilie to die using a broken Miraculous, Gabriel survived. He's thought of nothing else since.
  • Tantrum Throwing: Wrecks his own study in apparent rage over Adrien misplacing his antique book.
  • Tareme Eyes: Inverted. His eyes as Gabriel are dropping, but in contrast with his son, it's more akin to Dull Eyes of Unhappiness. As Hawk Moth, he has pointy Tsurime Eyes that makes him more intimidating.
  • Telepathy: How he communicates with his victims.
  • Terrorists Without a Cause: His actual motive for trying to steal the Miraculous isn't explained for some time. It's eventually indicated he wants to use their combined power to rewrite reality, allowing him to heal his wife or prevent whatever happened to her in the first place.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Has a picture of Adrien's mother in a locket.
  • Tragic Villain: He is never truly happy. At best, he is smugly triumphant before the heroes manage to defeat him...again.
  • Transformation Trinket: His brooch is the Butterfly Miraculous.
  • Villain Ball: He barely ever takes steps to make sure that the people working under him are focused on taking the Miraculous. But subverted big-time during "The Collector"... He Akumatizes himself for once, proving to be a relentless No-Nonsense Nemesis against Anatis and Lady Noire — and has it double as a Xanatos Gambit to free himself/Gabriel Agreste of suspicion.
  • Villain Override: Though he usually favors the carrot in getting those he transforms to do his bidding, he's threatened to remove their powers if they don't play along, and can cause them pain if they resist his demands.
  • When He Smiles: Gabriel always frowns as a civilian, and regularly sports a smug and sinister smile when he is Hawk Moth. However, he does show a genuinely warm smile in the series, like in his previous family portrait, when he expresses concern over Nathalie and Adrien or when he appreciates someone like Marinette's talent in fashion designing.
  • When You Coming Home, Dad?: One of the biggest problems with his relationship with his son is that Gabriel is always busy with work (or supervillainy). This is on top of keeping Adrien locked into a busy schedule of modeling work and lessons.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Hawk Moth doesn't hesitate to akumatize women or girls.
  • Would Hurt a Child: A significant number of his akuma victims are small children, and while the infant August's first akumatization was an accident, he goes along with it without the slightest hint of remorse.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Akumatizing himself in "The Collector." The Collector gets Anatis's and Lady Noire's Miraculous? Obviously good. He fails? Because they're the same person, he still makes the good guys stop suspecting Gabriel as Hawk Moth.

    Mayura

Nathalie Sancoeur/Mayura/Holder of the Peacock Miraculous

I will go to any length to end the reign of Anatis and Lady Noire.
Gabriel Agreste's assistant. Completely stoic, with only an occasional display of emotion, she follows his instructions completely, and is typically in charge of Adrien's schedule. She's fully aware of his double-life as Hawk Moth, and helps him out however she can.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Unlike the other Miraculous wielders, who retain their normal skin tones, the bearer of the Peacock Miraculous gains blue skin when transformed.
  • Antagonist Abilities: She can create minions for the Akumatized villains. The first one she created manages to blow away all of the heroes by flapping its wings. Furthermore, like Hawk Moth, Mayura is able to operate from a great distance away, meaning that the heroes can't trace her civilian identity. Also like Hawk Moth, she can hold her transformation after using her power.
  • Anti-Villain: She executes her duty to the Agreste family in all things.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: Considering she’s themed after a peacock, this is to be expected. Between the long flowing dress, cocktail hat, and, of course, the hand-fan, she almost fits this trope to a T. We say almost because ironically the only part missing is actually being an aristocrat.
  • Badass Normal: While she lost, she could hold her own against three Akumatized villains simultaneously as a vanilla human in "Félix".
  • Being Personal Isn't Professional: Often, she treats the Agrestes as her masters while she's their servant and nothing more. But she does show some hidden affection for them, such as suggesting Gabriel to spend Christmas with Adrien and hugging Gabriel when he feels hopeless about his cause along with the implication that she's loyal to him out of unrequited love.
  • Beleaguered Assistant: As one might expect from the assistant to one of Paris's busiest fashion designers; she's not only tasked with his appointments but also with handling his son.
  • Bilingual Bonus: Her codename means "Peacock" in Sanskrit. Curiously, "mayura" is the term for male peacocks, while "mayuri" is the term for females.
  • Blue Is Heroic: Inverted. It would be played straight, but like with Hawk Moth, the Peacock Miraculous is in the hands of a villain.
  • Childhood Friend: Gabriel met her when he and Emilie were teenagers.
  • Clipped-Wing Angel: Nathalie takes up the Peacock Miraculous to save Gabriel, even though she knows it's damaged and has been specifically been told by Gabriel not to use it due to the potential for backlash, which does happen.
  • Combat Hand Fan: Her Miraculous tool takes the form of this.
  • Conflicting Loyalties: Her loyalty to Gabriel takes priority over everything else...usually. Sometimes her heart demands that she take a less pragmatic approach to The Plan than he would like.
  • Dark Action Girl: Like Hawk Moth, she's no slouch when it comes to getting her own hands dirty. She manages to hold her own against Princess Fragrance, the Bubbler, and Lady Wifi without transforming in "Félix".
  • Dark Is Evil: Nathalie wears a black business suit.
  • The Dragon: She knows Gabriel is Hawk Moth, and outright allows him to Akumatize her as the third step in his master plan in "Catalyst".
  • Empowered Badass Normal: As seen in "Félix", Nathalie can briefly hold her own against three Akumatized villains without transforming.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Nathalie became The Dragon to Gabriel partially due to her one-sided love for him, and she genuinely seems to care about Adrien.
  • Evil Virtues:
    • Love. It is implied that she possesses lingering feelings towards her boss and supports him because of this. Even when it becomes clear that Gabriel is too loyal to Emilie to even humor the idea of being with her, Natalie still sticks by his side and comforts him when he hits the Despair Event Horizon.
    • Loyalty. Natalie is considered almost like an honorary member of the Agreste Family, having a soft-spot for Adrien and mourning Emilie's condition alongside him and Gabriel.
  • Feathered Fiend: The end of Mayura's dress fans out into a train reminiscent of a peacock's tail.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Zigzagged. She's aloof and cold, but she has her nice moments.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: She is good at everything, including tutoring, standing in for her boss while he's busy, and combat.
  • Ironic Name: "Sans cœur" means heartless or "without a heart" in French, yet she's almost entirely motivated by her one-sided crush on Gabriel.
  • Irony:
    • The peacock is associated with regality and purity. Nathalie is a servant to the Agrestes, and her love for Gabriel goes as far as helping him in his villainous schemes, making her love unhealthy or impure.
    • The peacock is also associated with the Greek goddess Hera, queen of the gods. Because of her husband Zeus's constant unfaithfulness, Hera has very little patience for it. Nathalie is loyal to Gabriel because she is in love with him, in spite of his love and marriage to Emilie. Nathalie's love goes as far as joining Gabriel as a main villain by taking the Peacock Miraculous.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Despite having feelings for Gabriel, she assists him in his attempts to revive Emilie.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: Her being The Dragon to Hawk Moth is the big twist at the end of "The Collector", and most of her appearances afterward hinge on knowing this fact.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • "Sans cœur" means heartless or "without a heart" in French, in reference to her aloof and distant personality.
    • Interestingly, her first name comes from the Latin name, Natalia, which meant "Christmas Day" from Latin natale domini. On Christmas Day, she shows her caring side towards Adrien. "Natal" also has to do with babies, which also fits as Nathalie is the closest thing that Adrien has to a mother for the moment.
  • Mook Maker: By infusing the feathers from her hand fan with energy, transforming them into Amoks, she can create Sentimonsters, allies for the Akuma villains.
  • Morality Pet: Just like her boss, Nathalie only cares about the Agreste family.
  • Must Have Caffeine: A "whole different person" before her morning coffee.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: However she feels about caging a child, she does it anyway.
  • Mysterious Past: We know nothing about her except how she relates to the Agrestes, and we don't know how she got so mixed up in their shenanigans either.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Given that her surname translates to "without a heart", you'd be forgiven for not exactly trusting her. Sure enough, she's not only willingly working for Hawk Moth, but also takes up the Peacock Miraculous and becomes the villainess Mayura.
  • Nonchalant Dodge: Uses this against the Punisher Trio.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: She's the first Miraculous user to not wear a Domino Mask or any other type of headgear that would obscure her facial features.
    • This may be because of another aspect of this trope- Mayura's blue skin and her unusual eyes (which are the same as Duusu's) make a mask so pointless that the heroes can see her up close and still not know who she is without a mask.
  • No-Sell: She's the only one completely unfazed by Audrey's behavior in "Style Queen".
  • Old Retainer: In spirit, if not age. She oversees the Agreste family as well as its business, protecting the former's secrets with imperturbable yet unquestionable devotion. In some ways, she has more authority than the family's actual heir.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: In "Queen Wasp", in a rather affectionate move for her, she hugs Gabriel after he expresses uncertainty and hopelessness when the latest akuma villain attack fails. Afterward, she appears conflicted about what she just did, implying Unrequited Love.
  • Parental Substitute: A rather cold and distant one, granted, but she's currently the closest Adrien has to a mother.
  • Peacock Girl: A given in that she wields the Peacock Miraculous.
  • Power Makes Your Hair Grow: Inverted; her bun disappears when she transforms into Mayura, leaving her with short hair.
  • Pretty in Mink: Mayura's coat is lined with blue fur.
  • Prim and Proper Bun: She wears her hair in a neat bun, fitting her organized and no-nonsense personality.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Technically, they're dark pink irises with blue sclera, but they remain eerie and sinister enough to fit this trope.
  • Satellite Character: So far, to Adrien and Gabriel. Not much else is provided.
  • Secret-Keeper: She knows what's behind Gabriel's secret wall and knows Hawk Moth's true identity.
  • Stealth Pun: Now that she has the Peacock Miraculous, she is a secretary bird.
  • Strawman Emotional: Regardless of the image Nathalie projects to the outside world, every decision she makes is impulsive, irrational, and emotion-based. Not for nothing is her hair dyed red.
  • Subordinate Excuse: "Style Queen" implies that she has feelings for Gabriel, even though she knows he wants to bring his wife back. In fact, his devotion to his wife and his commitment to bringing her back by any means necessary is the whole reason she fell for him in the first place.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: She's aloof and cold, but there are moments when it's obvious she feels bad about Adrien constantly having to deal with a busy schedule and not having his father around.
  • Took a Level in Badass: A villainous example. In "Mayura", Nathalie takes up the Peacock Miraculous and becomes the supervillain Mayura.
    • She takes another one in "Felix." She single-handedly fends off the Bubbler, Princess Fragrance, and Lady Wi-Fi, and the three had to gang up on her to finally bring Nathalie down.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Initially, she was just Gabriel's stoic assistant, only concerned with doing her job and occasionally throwing Adrien a bone. In "Catalyst" she openly and eagerly works with Hawk Moth to throw Paris into panic by enhancing her powers, smiling nastily before she gets Akumatized.
  • Two Girls and a Guy: She accompanied Gabriel and Emilie on their quest through Nepal.

    Lila Rossi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/04f2887d6d54b418a602ef7c344e7ab469195bb6_00.jpg
A New Transfer Student who easily wins everyone over with her (completely untrue) anecdotes of her very exciting life. After Anatis calls out her lies, she develops a severe grudge against the hero.
  • Abhorrent Admirer: Lila is very clearly infatuated with Adrien, but even when Adrien's willing to befriend her, he's put off by her compulsive lying.
  • Aesop Amnesia: Despite getting turned into an akumatized villain over her anger at Anatis, she refuses his apology when given the chance. This notably makes her the only victim who didn't at least try to get over what made them turn in the first place.
  • Alpha Bitch: Lila has taken over Chloé's old position, though unlike Chloé, Lila hides her unpleasant nature behind a kind façade, making her come off as more of a Lovable Alpha Bitch to her schoolmates.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Marinette and Anatis (Luka has only interacted with her briefly as a civilian). Holding a very personal grudge against both, and wishing to take both of them down at all costs. The feeling is mutual on Marinette's side, with Lila being the only character other than Hawk Moth or Chloé capable of making Marinette angry.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Appearance: For someone who falsely claimed to be related to a vixen superheroine, Lila still greatly resembles a past Fox Pendant wielder shown in the Miraculous tome. Doubly so for having green eyes and red hair, as Japanese folk tales often ascribe this appearance to foxes disguised as humans.
  • Attention Whore: Lila wows her peers with tales of travels and friendships with celebrities, including the heroes, the last of which is clearly false. She later expands on that lie to impress Adrien, going so far as to steal his book, buy a replica 'Miraculous', and claim to be a superheroine.
  • Black-and-White Insanity: To Lila, you're either a doting sycophant who swoons over her every lie or (if you call her out on her lies, no matter how nicely or gently) you're an enemy she needs to take down at any cost.
  • Berserk Button: Being called a liar, and anything to do with Anatis.
    • In "Volpina" when Lila confronts Anatis as said villain her Motive Rant was simply, "So you won't be able to call me a liar anymore cause everyone will think you're the liar!" It backfires terribly on her.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Sure, she looks nice at first, but deep down, she's a lying Jerkass who doesn't care who her lies hurt.
  • Blatant Lies: In an interview with Alya, she says that Lady Noire saved her and the two of them became good friends and that she helped Anatis come up with his hero name after he asked her on a date. Given this, her other amazing stories—traveling a lot, having Jagged Stone write a song about her, going on a plane with Prince Ali—should be taken with a grain of salt.
  • Celebrity Lie: Most of her lies involve being friends with various celebrities such as Jagged Stone, Prince Ali, and even Anatis.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: Not only does she have No Sense of Personal Space for Adrien, but she can't seem to stand other girls that get close to him. A lot of her nastier acts are towards girls who are close to Adrien, such as Marinette, Kagami, and Chloé.
  • Consummate Liar: Tikki admits she has never seen someone lie so well.
  • Cunning Linguist: Surprisingly fluent in French, and likely English.
  • Didn't See That Coming: When confronting Anatis as "Volpina" his aloof attitude towards her catches her off guard and is shocked to see how quickly he sees through her illusions.
    • She's also shocked when she learns that Adrien has a girlfriend (Kagami) and only saw her as a friend. He even admitted that if he knew that meeting her was a date he wouldn't have come.
  • Didn't Think This Through: For all of Lila’s cunning intelligence and charisma, she lacks foresight in several different scenarios. First, her lies tend to have serious faults that could lead to extreme exposure without all her luck or they backfire on her in personal ways, proving her pride can make her tactless and ignorant of how serious the consequences are. Second, she continuously ignores and harasses those who try to genuinely help, like Luka, Marinette, and Adrien, leaving them disgusted with her egomania and just barely tolerating her existence. If karma ever does catch up to her, it’s going to hit her hard, and she won’t have anything to fall back on, nor anyone willing to support her if she does.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Swears eternal revenge on Anatis for calling out her lies and humiliating her in front of Adrien.
  • Engineered Heroics: As Volpina, Lila uses an illusion of herself stopping a meteor to pretend to be a hero. This would have worked if Anatis hadn't noticed her name was the same as her ancestor she claimed to be related to.
  • Entitled to Have You: Lila firmly believes that Adrien is rightfully hers and will fight anyone else for him.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Subverted in regards to Adrien. Lila may have a crush on Adrien, even believing these feelings to be genuine, but her crush is based on an idealized version of Adrien in her mind (namely as the perfect boyfriend who dotes on her and is adored as his "perfect" girlfriend by everyone). Lila doesn't have as much genuine affection for Adrien as she believes and doesn't think twice about how her actions would affect him and his loved ones.
  • Evil Counterpart:
    • Lila is this to Juleka in the sense that Lila was akumatized into a villain based on the Fox Miraculous holder with the power of Illusion and Juleka was temporarily given custody of the real Fox Miraculous to become Culpeo.
    • She's also one to Chloé, who is already rather unpleasant. Aside from their shared Jerkass Hate Sink status, both have expressed an attraction towards Adrien, are daughters of important political figures (Chloé's father is the mayor of Paris while Lila's parents are diplomats), and have antagonistic relationships with Marinette. Additionally, both girls have trouble accepting responsibility for their actions. However, unlike Lila, Chloé starts becoming a nicer person. While Chloé is one of Anatis and Lady Noire's biggest fans, Lila loathes the heroes (especially Anatis) and desires revenge against them. And finally, Chloé is capable of overcoming her Never My Fault mentality, while Lila would sooner aid a dangerous supervillain in his conflict with Anatis than acknowledge her misdeeds.
  • Evil Is Petty: Ultimately, Lila hates Anatis because he gave her an extremely harsh and humiliating "Reason You Suck" Speech in front of Adrien after she had stolen Adrien's book from him beforehand. Even though Anatis later apologized, this act was enough to cement Lila's hatred.
  • Evil Knockoff: Volpina is an example, even though the Fox Miraculous hasn't been used yet when she's akumatized.
  • Face–Heel Turn: While she was never a saint to begin with, she becomes far more evil as the story progresses.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: Lila repeatedly tries to convince people that she's the strongest and most popular hero there is. She goes as far as to buy a fake Miraculous to 'prove' it.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Part of what makes make Lila scary is how normal and kind she acts in front of people, but behind closed doors it's made glaringly obvious she is far, far from normal or kind.
  • Foreign Exchange Student: She's from Italy.
  • Foreshadowing: Unlike all the other akumatized victims, Anatis is not able to win her over and she remains hostile, paving the way for Lila's Start of Darkness.
  • Friendship Trinket: For some reason, she always wears a friendship bracelet.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Lila pretends this is the reason why Anatis dislikes her and tried to sabotage her "date" with Adrien.
  • Hate Sink: Lila is a selfish, dishonest, manipulative, inculpable, and spiteful person.
  • Heroic Lineage: Invoked and subverted. Knowing that Adrien is a fan of the heroes, she not only tells everyone that she's friends with them but that she's actually descended from a fox-themed heroine she sees in Adrien's Miraculous book, which is obviously false.
  • Hime Cut: She embodies the Rich Bitch type of Ojou. Everyone is captivated by her tales and connections, but she's a skilled liar and thief, and unlike other akumatized victims (including Chloé to some extent), she doesn't learn from her mistakes and rejects Anatis's apology.
  • Hoistby His Own Petard: While she suffers no repercussions directly, Lila's attempted relationship with Adrien keeps going backward because he can't stand her manipulations' increasing viciousness.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Even without Anatis stepping in, Lila's attempts to get Adrien to like her by lying would've proven futile given he's already in a relationship with Kagami.
  • Hostage for MacGuffin: She tries this twice, first by threatening the citizens of Paris and second by threatening Marinette. The first try fails as Anatis sees she's bluffing and calls her out on it. The second time she almost succeeds if not for Lady Noire calling her bluff next.
  • Identity Impersonator: In Miraculer, Lila makes the inference that she's Culpeo, even wearing her fake Miraculous necklace to 'prove it'. Juleka is not amused.
  • Insult Backfire: When Lila attempts to insult Anatis when she's akumatized, his aloof and apathetic response throws her off, not expecting him to see through her illusions so quickly. It doesn't help that (without her knowledge) he knew she was an akuma from the beginning due to claiming Volpina was her ancestor, and akuma form is also Volpina.
  • It's All About Me: Lila lies to be the center of attention and enjoys the praise and adoration that comes from people that she manipulated. Not to mention her love for Adrien is more invested in her belief he'll be her perfect boyfriend who'll shower her with affection, not caring at all that he might have his own wants and needs.
  • Jerkass: A sneaky and lying girl who refuses to take responsibility for her actions. There is also the fact that she's one of the even fewer people who were akumatized as a result of someone doing the right thing. While Luka turning into Anatis to call her out on her lies was excessive and done partially for selfish reasons, he was still ultimately in the right, as he showed Adrien that Lila was lying through her teeth to get close to him.
  • Jerkass at Your Discretion: She only shows her true colors when she's alone with those who know how she really is, such as Marinette.
  • Liar Revealed: The reason she gets akumatized is that Anatis humiliates her in front of Adrien by calling her out on her lies. Anatis later gives a semi-public announcement about her lies in front of a lot of her class and Jagged Stone.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: She's rich enough to casually buy a jewel with nothing but her allowance, and her mother is almost never home while her father is completely missing.
  • Loving a Shadow: As much as she's infatuated with Adrien and believes her love for him is genuine, there are hints that this is what Lila's crush on Adrien amounts to— shallow and superficial. Adrien's good-looking, rich and popular— in other words, he's the perfect boyfriend to Lila's eyes.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She can effortlessly manipulate almost anyone to her advantage.
  • Master Actor: She is an incredibly charismatic, intelligent, adaptive, and convincing actress who manages to win over almost everybody and keep up her lies for a very long time.
  • Master of Illusion: Her akuma's powers are illusion-based.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • Her name is pronounced "Lie-la".
    • Her given name could mean "beauty", and Rossi is a common Italian last name meaning "red". She's a (brownish) red-headed beauty.
  • Military Brat: Specifically, a foreign service brat, as her parents are diplomats.
  • The Münchausen: According to Lila she has been pretty much everywhere in the world and is friends with countless celebrities, politicians, and important people. Since she is very good with words and also does her research about the stories she tells, everybody believes her.
  • Mysterious Past: She talks a lot of her past, but her tendency to lie casts everything into doubt. All we know for sure is that she's the daughter of a diplomat, has indeed traveled around the world, and for some reason, she saw fit to learn martial arts.
  • Near-Villain Victory: If not for Lady Noire, Anatis would have surrendered his earrings to save illusion!Marinette. She's one of the few akumas to actually do this.
  • Never My Fault:
    • Blames Anatis for humiliating her, even though it would likely have not happened had she not lied about knowing him.
    • She can not fathom being blamed or called out for her lies, ignoring when she hurts people.
  • New Transfer Student: She is the newest student.
  • No-Nonsense Nemesis: If she's coming after you, she will destroy you in the swiftest, fastest, and most complete way she can.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Lila has none where Adrien is concerned, even though he's very uncomfortable.
  • Not Even Bothering with the Accent: Unlike Gina, Lila speaks fluent French/English.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: While her manipulations already make her quite dangerous, she's implied to be into mixed martial arts and quite skilled at it, meaning that even getting into a physical fight would end badly.
  • Phenotype Stereotype: Lila is Italian, and has inconsistently tanned skin and reddish-brown hair.
  • Seamless Spontaneous Lie: Lila is incredibly talented at creating them and they work every time (much to Marinette's frustration who always fails to expose her).
  • Smug Smiler: Lila's most common expression is a sly, devious, and confident smirk.
  • The Sociopath: Implied. Lila ticks most of the qualities off from the list. She appears as a kind and friendly classmate to her peers while she hides her disdain for them, has no issue lying to get what she wants, manipulates any situation to her benefit, never feels remorse for what she does, and to top it all off, she truly thinks she's better than everyone. Whenever someone calls her out on her lies, she's incapable of acknowledging her own personal responsibility, blaming others instead, and will threaten those who stand in her way.
  • Start of Darkness: Lila starts off as a Consummate Liar but whose lies are primarily to elevate people's perception of her and to seem interesting and popular. After being humiliated by Anatis and akumatized for the first time she develops an intense hatred of superheroes, particularly Anatis.
  • Uncanny Valley Girl: Pretty and friendly, alas it's just a front.
  • Underestimating Badassery: For all of Lila's disdain of her classmates, she is as ignorant as they are of Marinette's other-self. And even if she did know, she couldn't understand why Marinette would keep something that she isn't ashamed of a secret.
  • Villain with Good Publicity: Unlike Chloé, who the other students hate, Lila is so good at lying that everyone in her school thinks she is as impressive and selfless as she says she is, no matter how obvious her lies get. It certainly helps that she is very charismatic and always treats everybody perfectly nicely (at least in public). The only people who can see right past her are Marinette, who tries and fails to expose her at every turn, and Adrien who, while acknowledging that she is a Consummate Liar, believes that she deserves a chance and will wait for when she becomes honest with everyone. Adrien finally wises up in "Volpina" when Anatis calls her out in front of her and realizes that she stole from him and willingly framed Marinette. He understands just how dangerous and harmful lies can be.
  • Villainous Crush: Lila clearly has a thing for Adrien, and at the very least, believes that her feelings for him are genuine.
  • With Us or Against Us: You either support every little thing she says and does (even if you know she's lying), or you're an enemy she needs to destroy.
  • You're Just Jealous: She claims Anatis is jealous of her for being stronger.

School Characters

Marinette's Class

    Alya Césaire
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_25_at_104957_pm.png
Alya is Marinette's best friend - and the heroes' biggest fan - but doesn't realize she's one of them. Alya is confident, cool, and a little bit sassy, never afraid to speak her mind, and always keeping an eye on Parisian trends and news. She dreams of being a professional news reporter, but until that day, she's practicing by running the Ladyblog, tracking Anatis and Lady Noire's every accomplishment.
  • Ascended Fangirl: Narrowly subverted in "Style Queen"; Luka was intending to loan her the Bee Miraculous since she was close by, but Alya gets petrified before he can go through with it.
  • Ambiguously Brown: She has dark skin, and the Egyptian Pharaoh says she resembles his dead wife. Her family is from Martinique.
  • Aren't You Going to Ravish Me?: She's a little offended when the Pharaoh swaps her out with Anatis as a sacrifice.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: A sweet bespectacled girl with a strong sense of justice.
  • Best Friend: To Marinette. She's more confident and outspoken than Marinette is, but they're as close as sisters.
  • Birds of a Feather: She and Nino become a couple after finding out they have a lot in common.
  • Camera Fiend: Loves taking photos, both of her daily life and of Anatis's superheroics.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: About to be sacrificed by a supervillain in exchange for his love? No problem, she knows Anatis and Lady Noire will rescue her.
  • Cool Big Sis: She has several little siblings, so she is good at handling children.
  • Damsel in Distress: She's often captured by the villains and needs to be saved.
  • Dramatically Missing the Point: In Reverser Anatis orders Alya to buy Marc a new notebook as an apology for originally destroying the old one, even though she points out his cure fixed everything. His glare leaves no room for argument.
  • Facepalm: Marinette's made her do this more than once.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Never once realizes that Marinette is missing when Lady Noire is running about. To be fair, that's probably not the first conclusion most people would come to.
  • Family Theme Naming: The names of her and her family are related to jazz singers.
  • Fangirl: Of Anatis and Lady Noire. She runs a fanblog about their adventures, and never misses any events related to them. She was a fangirl of superheroes in general even before the first appearance of Aspik and Ryūko.
  • Fiery Redhead: Downplayed. Alya has brown hair with some bright vermilion color, and while she is determined and spunky, she's usually level-headed.
  • Genre Savvy: Familiar with a lot of superhero tropes because of all the comics she reads; however she never realizes that Lady Noire's secret identity could be her own best friend.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: She and Marinette are as close as sisters, and tell each other practically everything.
  • Intrepid Reporter: There's a villain tearing up Paris? Gotta get footage of Anatis and Lady Noire kicking butt for her blog! It even leads to her becoming the akuma Lady Wifi for an episode, where she attempts to uncover Anatis's identity.
  • Just Eat Gilligan: Actually considers handing Chloé to Zombizou in the titular episode.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Her desire for a hot scoop sometimes trumps common sense. The most erogenous example being "Reverser" when she's trying to obtain 'Anatis's Diary'. Another is posting Lila's claims of being a superheroine.
  • Meaningful Name: In Slavonic, "Alya" means "beautiful" or "scarlet," references to her good looks and red-brown hair, respectively.
  • New Transfer Student: She transferred in at the start of the school year, around the same time Adrien started going to public school.
  • Nice Girl: She is extremely loyal, supportive, and helpful.
  • Recurring Boss: She's been akumatized into Lady Wi-fi twice so far.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Presumably enters into a relationship with Nino in "Animan" after being locked in a cage together. She initially thought of him as a brother, but they found out they had a lot in common.
  • Second Love: To Nino, who originally had a huge crush on Marinette.
  • Secret Chaser: There have been two episodes ("The Pharaoh" and "Lady Wifi") where she tries to figure out the heroes identities. Anatis bluntly expresses how he doesn't appreciate this in "Reverser".
  • Shipper on Deck:
    • At first for solely Marinette/Adrien, but as she sees Marinette interact with Luka, she pushes her to talk to him more.
    • "Prime Queen" shows she ships Anatis and Lady Noire, as her statement about the two is that they're not officially dating...yet.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: In "Reverser" she's extremely persistent and goes as far as to try and steal Marc's Diary of Anatis so she can publish it on her blog. But when she discovered that it's not real, she angrily accuses Marc of being a liar when he never said that the diary was real.
  • The World Is Just Awesome: She is ecstatic when Culpeo shows up in "Sapotis", overjoyed to meet more heroes.
  • Unwitting Muggle Friend: She has no idea that Marinette and her admired Lady Noire are the same person.
  • Verbal Tic: She often says "girl" when speaking with Marinette.

    Mylène Haprèle
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_25_at_105147_pm_3.png
some caption text
A kind girl who is easily scared. She is in a relationship with Ivan.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: She's a chubby young girl who is also quite adorable and friendly. Ivan likes her enough that they're now in a relationship.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Downplayed. She's a blonde with golden-brown eyes.
  • Daddy's Girl: She's very close with her father, Fred, and is very proud of his acting.
  • Face Your Fears: Her arc is about becoming less of a coward and learning to stand up for herself.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Downplayed. She's a natural blond with some of her braids being colored pink, blue, and green. She's still a sweetheart.
  • Hidden Depths: Mylène has an interest in politics and wants to make Paris a better place for the people.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Mylène is practically half Ivan's height. She's also this with her dad, who's tall and lanky.
  • Lovable Coward: Deconstructed. Mylène has shown to be scared by anything she perceives as scary. And while her plight is sympathetic, Chloé makes a valid point that Mylène getting scared too easily is only hampering their class from finishing their project, putting all their grades at risk.
  • Nice Girl: She has a cordial personality.
  • Only Sane Man: In "Gigantitan", she asks why Marinette needs an unnecessarily complicated plan to talk to Adrien and Luka when she could just ask them out. The rest of the girls just laugh. Shockingly, the plan fails.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: Mylène has romantic affections for the sweet and sensitive Ivan.

    Nathaniel Kurtzburg
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_25_at_112628_pm.png
A shy artist who harbors a crush on Marinette. However, he becomes close friends with Marc Anciel at the end of "Reverser".
  • Adaptational Jerkass: Inverted. Here he doesn't react poorly to learning who the author of Anatis's Diary is. Instead, he figures it out himself and agrees to meet Marc to collaborate on a comic book.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Although he has a crush on Marinette (and later on Lady Noire), by the end of "Reverser", he becomes friends with Marc Anciel... who's easily flustered in his presence, and whom he seems to reciprocate the feelings.
  • Ambiguously Jewish: Going by his surname and his noticeable absence from the Christmas special.
  • Anti-Villain: Unlike most akumas, as Evillustrator, Nathaniel's goal was to go on a date with Marinette. He only uses lethal force when she betrays him to Anatis.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: He dreams of becoming a superhero who can save Marinette from the many villains plaguing Paris. His akuma form's appearance and powers are identical to the superhero persona he made for himself. Has been hinted this may very well become a reality.
  • Berserk Button: Being mocked over his crush or getting his romantic hopes up (Chloé mocking his crush on Marinette got him akumatized in the first place, Marinette pretending to go on a date with him in "Evillustrator.") tends to turn the normally nice, shy, quiet Nathaniel real mean real quick.
  • Birds of a Feather: He and Marc are both nice, shy, quiet, introverted artists.
  • A Birthday, Not a Break: Like Alix, he gets akumatized on his birthday.
  • Even the Guys Want Him: Fellow art classmate Marc has feelings for him.
  • Fan Art: Makes this of himself and Marinette.
  • Fiery Redhead: Inverted. His hair is a deep red, but he's one of the quietest and shyest characters.
  • Her Code Name Was "Mary Sue": His comics have shades of this, given that they center on the exploits of Anatis and Lady Noire (who he is implied to have a crush on) and his Self-Insert superhero Mightillustrator.
  • Hiding Behind Your Bangs: His hair covers his right eye and is of the "shy and demure" variety.
  • Hopeless Suitor: He's in love with Marinette. Needless to say, she doesn't reciprocate. The ending of "Evillustrator" and "Reverser" imply that his affections have moved to Lady Noire, who is...still Marinette and still unlikely to return his feelings.
  • In-Universe Nickname: "Nath", as shown in "Reverser".
  • Jerkass Ball: He is usually a nice boy, even other times when people mocked him, he simply left rather than lash out at the other person. Though he does have a track record of reacting badly when he thinks someone is mocking his crush (Chloé) or getting his romantic hopes up (Marinette), as seen in "Evillustrator."
  • Meaningful Name: The "Kurtz-" part of his last name is a Jewish surname meaning "short in height" — which is fitting since he's tinier than most of his classmates.
  • Mr. Imagination: He's rather dreamy, and fantasizes about being a superhero and saving a swooning Marinette from villains.
  • Opposites Attract: A platonic version. Since they both love art, Alix is one of his closest friends. But she prefers street art while comics are more his taste.
  • Pretty Boy: Not as dashing as Adrien, but he still has rather fine facial features.
  • The Quiet One: Shares this role with Juleka. Nathaniel doesn't speak much, preferring to express himself through art.
  • Those Two Guys: With Marc.
  • Shrinking Violet: And like most male examples is treated as a bit of a Butt-Monkey, which is what leads him into getting akumatized.
  • Tiny School Boy: He's noticeably tinier than the majority of his classmates, to the point that Miss Mendeleiev is able to lift him with one hand.
  • Twofer Token Minority: Jewish + Ambiguously Bi.

    Lê Chiến Kim
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_101649_pm.png
A confident, hotheaded jock who can be rude, but does have a softer side. He is good friends with Max.
  • Asian Rudeness: Downplayed. Kim is Vietnamese, and is the only other person in the class besides Marinette who's confirmed to be of Asian descent. He's also a somewhat petty, overconfident jock who is prone to rudeness or taunting others and has a crush on the local Alpha Bitch. However, he's a Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Kim shows an astonishing lack of common sense at times. To wit, his reaction to Paris suddenly being flooded is to jump in the water and offer to teach Markov to swim, and after being kidnapped by Syren, he's more concerned about missing the movie he wanted to see.
  • Competition Freak: He considers himself the king of competitions. His competitive spirit isn't limited to sports, he also takes part in the school's fashion contest and the video game tournament. He even wants to challenge the zoo's new panther.
  • Distressed Dude: Takes on this role in "Animan" after the zookeeper whose panther he taunted falls victim to an akuma and comes after him. It happens again in "Syren", but, since the villain is in love with him, he wasn't that distressed.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Has a crush on Chloé. Three guesses how it turns out for him.
  • In the Hood: He wears a red hoodie.
  • Jerk Jock: Dips into this trope sometimes, mocking Alix when the pair are planning to race, taunting a protective zookeeper about his panther, and bullying Ivan about his crush on Mylène.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While hot-headed and rude sometimes, Kim is generally kind. He appreciates Marinette's encouragement to confess his love to his crush in "Dark Cupid" and is a good friend to Ondine in "Syren". He also doesn't hesitate to put Chloé on the zip line ahead of him in "Zombizou" resulting in him being infected.
  • Lovable Jock: On his good days. He's had his moments of being a Jerk Jock, but he's otherwise alright.
  • Oblivious to Love: In the episode "Syren", he's completely unaware of Ondine's feelings for him. He only starts suspecting she might like him after she turns into a mermaid and drags him to her underwater kingdom to be her husband.
  • Odd Friendship: He's close friends with Max, who is pretty much his polar opposite.
  • What Does He See in Her?: Given how he has seen Chloé's countless cruel and petty actions, with him occasionally being a victim of said actions, it's puzzling to understand why Kim has a crush on her. Marinette even lampshades this on Valentine's Day.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: He's a burly jock, but is hilariously terrified of spiders, a fact Chloé uses against him so he doesn't run against her as class president.

    Sabrina Raincomprix
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_102717_pm.png
A soft-spoken classmate of Adrien and Marinette, and Chloé's "best friend". Sometimes she's Chloé's aider and abetter in wicked schemes, other times she's the first and worst victim of Chloé's meanness. Ever since Chloé began therapy though, their friendship has become much less toxic and more genuine
  • Ambiguously Bi: She has a toxic yet very close relationship with Chloé, yet shows interest in an American boy during the New York special.
  • Beta Bitch: To Chloé's Alpha Bitch. Whenever Chloé comes up with one of her mean deeds, Sabrina is usually the one who does the dirty work while Chloé paints her nails or fixes her hairdo.
  • Daddy's Girl: Sabrina has a close relationship with her father.
  • The Dog Bites Back:
    • In "Evillustrator", after some encouragement from Marinette, Sabrina finally confronts Chloé about how badly she treats her. Sadly, old habits are hard to break, and Sabrina ends up forgiving Chloé.
    • In "Lady Copycat", Chloé spurns Sabrina when she accidentally embarrasses her in front of Jagged Stone, pretending Sabrina is invisible. This allows Hawk Moth to corrupt Sabrina and turn her into the Vanisher, whereupon Sabrina uses her new power to torment Chloé.
  • Dramatic Irony: Part of the reason Sabrina is so loyal to Chloé and lets her treat her as a slave is that without Chloé she would not have any other friends. But it's clear it's the other way around, and if their friendship ends Chloé would be the one without friends and Sabrina would probably be able to befriend her classmates.
  • Extreme Doormat: She has been doing Chloé's homework for her, and generally obeying her every order since they were in Elementary School.
  • The Farmer and the Viper: Downplayed as Sabrina isn't evil so much as an Extreme Doormat. Still, Marinette tries to help Sabrina stand up to Chloé, only for Sabrina to act super clingy and subservient toward her, then turn on her and go back to Chloé the second Marinette needs to postpone helping her with their project.
  • Foil: To Adrien — Both are the only two individuals who consider Chloé a friend among their peers, but act quite passively in regards to her mean behavior, fearing the loss of the only friendship they've ever had. Adrien is practically doted on by Chloé because of her crush on him, thus acting as her Morality Pet, and he begins to call her out on her behavior. Sabrina is more like Chloé's servant than friend, as the latter hardly ever shows her loyal "friend" any kindness outside of the rare occasion, and while Sabrina has hurt Chloé in retaliation for her cruelty, she goes right back to being Chloé's doormat "friend".
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Downplayed. She wears glasses and is not a villain and she is actually a Nice Girl, but there are times when she can show a mean streak in her similar to her "best friend's".
  • Friendship Trinket: A brooch Chloé gave her means the world to her, and when Chloé tells her their friendship is over, it's what the akuma possesses to turn her into Vanisher.
  • Genki Girl: Sabrina is this when Chloé is not bossing her around.
  • Glomp: Sabrina does this when Marinette agrees to be friends with her.
  • Innocent Beta Bitch: At least at first. She was a Nice Girl who gets disrespected and bossed around by Chloe.
  • Never Bareheaded: Always a white hairband in her hair.
  • Only Friend: Is this for Chloé.
  • Punny Name: The name Sabrina Raincomprix is pronounced similarly to the French "Sabri n'a rien compris", or "Sabri didn't understand anything", alluding to how Chloé manipulates her.
  • Shipper on Deck: Sabrina supports Chloé's affections towards Adrien.
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: Sabrina wears glasses, and between her and Chloé, she's the academically smarter.
  • Undying Loyalty: Deconstructed. Out of all their classmates, Sabrina is staunchly loyal to Chloé. However, their relationship is proven to be nothing but unhealthy, as Sabrina is shown to be an Extreme Doormat because of this and going along with whatever selfish scheme or cruel action Chloé does...which means that if Chloé ever does end their friendship, Sabrina won't have any other friends because of her loyalty to Chloé. This likely won't be the case now that Chloé is taking steps to improve her behavior.
  • Yes-Man: Sabrina basically agrees with everything Chloé says.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Marinette tells Sabrina this when Chloé wants them to do all the work for a project.

Luka's Class

    Aurore Beauréal
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_105355_pm.png
One of the finalists for KIDZ+'s Miss Weather Forecaster contest. She is one of Luka's classmates.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She's a girly teenager, so these are present in her design.
  • Hidden Depths: She's revealed to be class representative in Miss Mendeleiev's class.
  • Hopeless Suitor: She has a crush and/or attraction to Adrien, but given he's in a relationship with Kagami, her feelings likely won't be reciprocated.
  • Parasol of Prettiness: She carries a parasol to the contest, to complement her image as a weather girl.
  • Pride: Aurore is quite prideful and because of her arrogance, she becomes upset when Mireille wins against her.
  • Punny Name: "Aurore Beauréal" is a pun on the aurora borealis, an electromagnetic phenomenon that causes waves of colorful light to appear in the sky.
  • Sore Loser: Downplayed. Aurore is visibly upset over losing the contest, but she just runs off the set and rants to herself rather than get violent or snippy to Mireille.

    Mireille Caquet
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_105942_pm.png
One of the finalists for and winner of the KIDZ+'s Miss Weather Forecaster contest. She is a student in Ms. Mendeleiev's class with Luka.
  • Ambiguously Brown: She appears to be of Asian descent.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Like Aurore, she has a crush and/or attraction on Adrien, but it obviously won't be reciprocated.

    Félix Graham de Vanily
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/flix_graham_de_vanily_square.png

Adrien's cousin, whom he hasn't seen in a year. Is now attending Collège Françoise Dupont.

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Disguised as Adrien, he flirts with Lady Noire and tries to kiss her at one point, something that sets her off and leads her to know that he is not the real Adrien.
  • Ambiguously Human: Félix displays physical characteristics well beyond anything any regular human characters have displayed. The strength and agility he possesses has only been seen in Miraculous holders, Akumatized villains or Sentimonsters. And yet Félix seems to be perfectly human.
  • Arrogant Kung-Fu Guy: He is arrogant enough to start a fight with three supervillains, and he actually holds his own and even manages to steal the akumatized object.
  • Badass Normal: Like his cousin, he's fairly skilled in karate, and manages to briefly hold his own against three Akumatized villains.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Acts nice and affable to his cousin. It's all a front.
  • Bullying a Dragon: While disguised as Adrien, he gets forceful with Lady Noire and tries to make her kiss him. He gets clocked in the face for this.
  • Character Development: After Anatis threatens to hand him over to the police for siding with Hawk Moth, Félix begs to be let go. Anatis agrees only on the condition that he agrees to change his ways. At the end of the chapter we see that Félix has moved in with his uncle, also named Felix, and his aunt, Bridgette, and attending Collège Françoise Dupont. Whether his presence will play a larger role in the plot is yet to be seen.
  • Evil Is Petty: Sending all of Adrien's friends an insulting video message did not remotely have anything to do with his and his mother's mission. Later, he tries to throw his lot in with Hawk Moth for assistance in stealing Gabriel and Emilie's wedding rings.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Takes advantage of Adrien's kindness to get a window to insult his classmates.
  • Nom de Mom: Graham de Vanily is the maiden name of his mother and aunt. His father's surname is never revealed.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Félix apparently used to be this, having played with Adrien more happily when they were younger. After Anatis's lecture, he may revert back to this.

    Jean Duparc
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_110141_pm.png
A student in Luka's class.
  • Noodle Incident: At some point, he was akumatized and wanted to make the Eiffel Tower disappear.

Other Students

    Marc Anciel
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_110328_pm.png
An aspiring and shy writer who joins the school's Art Class. He seemingly has feelings for fellow art classmate Nathaniel, which he seems to reciprocate after the events of "Reverser".
  • Birds of a Feather: He and Nath are both kind, shy, quiet and introverted artists.
  • Break the Cutie: After Alya accused him of lying to her and ripping his notebook, he couldn't do anything but kneel and crying over its remains as Marinette scolded her friend. The look on his face is just heartwrenching.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: He greatly admires Nathaniel's art (and probably Nath himself), but is too nervous to tell him so.
  • Foreshadowing: When meeting Luka, the guitarist comments on his heart song sounding like "the fluttering of a butterfly's wings".
  • Idiot Hair: The hair at the back of his head sticks up in all directions. While he is not stupid, he can be a bit clumsy.
  • In the Hood: He wears a red hoodie.
  • Nice Guy: He is generally polite and friendly, even if he is very timid.
  • Punny Name: "Marc Anciel" sounds like "arc-en-ciel", which is French for "rainbow". Fittingly, he wears a rainbow-colored t-shirt.
  • Queer Colors: He has a rainbow-colored shirt and blushes around Nathaniel.
  • Rainbow Motif: He's LGBTQ+, wears a rainbow t-shirt and his name is a pun on "arc-en-ciel", which is French for "rainbow". This is especially appropriate in-contrast to his akumatized form Reverser, who is entirely black and white.
  • Shrinking Violet: He is painfully shy and insecure about his writing skills.
  • Straight Gay: Wears a rainbow-colored T-shirt, his shy demeanor towards Nathaniel has romantic undertones. Yet, aside from his androgynous appearance, he doesn't display any camp mannerisms.
  • Those Two Guys: With Nathaniel.

Teachers

    Caline Bustier
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_111246_pm.png
A teacher at Marinette and Luka's school; she teaches literature and is Marinette's homeroom adviser.
  • Badass Teacher: The only person so far to resist akumatization, at least at first. Even when it does infect her, she manages to briefly resist being evilized. While she does fall, it's still more successful than any other akuma victim has ever had.
  • Babies Ever After: She is revealed to be expecting a child in the New York special.
  • A Birthday, Not a Break: She gets akumatized on her birthday.
  • Broken Pedestal: Before Lila came to the school, Marinette thought Bustier was the best teacher in the world. She blatantly expresses this in "Zombizou".
  • Cool Teacher: All her students adore her, and have nothing but good things to say about her. Even Chloé feels the same, even if she doesn't show it in public.
  • Disappointed in You: Goes hand-in-hand with Anatis's "Reason You Suck" Speech. See Luka's tab for more info.
  • Gotta Get Your Head Together: Assumes this stance when fighting off Hawk Moth's influence.
  • Grew a Spine: When Lila returns in Chameleon Miss Bustier agrees with Marinette about Lila's lack of a doctor's note, and the fact that Marinette did not agree to sit in the back. She even raises her voice at Alya when the latter tries to protest and chastises her for lying.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In protecting Marinette from an akuma, she herself becomes infected.
  • Heroic Willpower: Caline initially manages to fight off the akuma infecting her. While she does eventually succumb to its influence, no one has ever even partially resisted an akuma before, a testament to just how nice a person she is.
  • Hot Teacher: It's downplayed, but she is considerably physically attractive with a kind, but firm personality.
  • Mama Bear: A pacifistic example. If a villain or another threat appears, Caline gets nervous and will suggest to her students that they hide or leave if it becomes potentially dangerous. It gets played completely straight in "Zombizou", when she tries to physically fight off an akuma to keep it away from Marinette.
  • Meaningful Name: Her first name Caline means "cuddly" in French, and her last name is the name of a piece of lingerie. Rather fitting for a Friend to All Living Things Hot Teacher.
  • Misplaced Kindergarten Teacher: Miss Bustier has allowed Chloé to get away with her bullying for years, expecting her better-behaved students to 'set a good example' by turning the other cheek. It isn't until Anatis literally spells it out to her face that she realizes that her methods are doing more harm than good in this situation.
  • My God, What Have I Done?:
    • Once she turns back, she's distressed that she hurt people and calls herself "terrible".
    • Expresses it further when Anatis states that her methods of 'setting a good example' without punishing the guilty party are ultimately helping Hawk Moth obtain more victims rather than deterring him.
  • Nice Girl: Caline is pleasant and instructive. She is kind to her students, but stern with them if they misbehave, and she will send them to Mr. Damocles' office if she thinks it's necessary. Caline also encourages her students to be nice to one another in part because it's the moral thing to do but also to protect them from being victim to akumas.
  • Properly Paranoid: She tries to teach her students to be kind and positive to protect them from akumas. Doing so kept Marinette from falling victim to one...unfortunately, this same drive to protect her students and fear of them becoming akumatized left her open.
  • Psychologist Teacher: Two of her class-time routines include leading her class in yoga and breathing exercises (which Mylène admits helps her with her anxiety) and encourages each student to say at least one nice thing to each other at the start of the day to build better relations.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: She is kind to the kids, and encourages them to run against Chloé for class president. She also encourages them to try to make friends with Chloé to make her a better person.
  • Redhead In Green: Downplayed. She wears a mint-green shirt that stands out against her white suit. It matches her green eyes and contrasts with her red hair.
  • Skewed Priorities: While it's true that you can't force people to change, Caline's refusal to punish Chloé for her actions has only encouraged her behavior rather than help her. See Luka's tab for the "Reason You Suck" Speech.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Ms. Bustier is so cheerful and pure of heart that Hawk Moth is forced to take this track when akumatizing her: rather than convince her to indulge in her dark impulses or lash out at the world, Hawk Moth convinces her to use her powers to bring love to those around her. It manifests as Zombizou, who deliriously goes around changing people into lovestruck zombies, convinced she's making the world a better place.

    Ms. Mendeliev
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_111305_pm.png
A science, mathematics, and physics teacher at Marinette and Adrien's school and Luka's homeroom adviser.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: She has deep blue eyes and is one of the most frosty teachers of the school.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: She is right that Rose messing around with flammable perfume in a science lab is a massive danger to Rose and the rest of the class.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Despite her grouchy, sharp-tongued, easily irritated, and demanding nature, she doesn't hesitate to attempt to protect other students from akumas.
  • Labcoat of Science and Medicine: She's the science teacher, so of course she wears one.
  • Lean and Mean: Mendeleiev's angular features and lean physique suit her less than friendly demeanor.
  • Meaningful Name: Dmitri Mendeleev was the founder and compiler of the modern periodic table of elements.
  • Stern Teacher: In contrast to Miss Bustier, she seems to have a harsher and sterner personality.

    Mr. Armand D'Argencourt
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_111326_pm.png
The P.E. coach and fencing instructor.
  • Blue Blood: Claims to descend from a noble family that used to rule over Paris; thus, Paris is his birthright.
  • Born in the Wrong Century: He espouses the idea of medieval knights and chivalry.
  • Butt-Monkey: In "Riposte", where he spends a noticeable chunk of his screen time receiving Amusing Injuries.
  • Master Swordsman: His fencing academy is the most prestigious one in all of Paris.
  • Signature Move: The "dark blade", created and named by his ancestor. It involves deliberately leaving yourself open for an attack, only to quickly shift back into position and strike when your opponent decides to attack.

    Mr. Damocles
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_111421_pm.png
The principal at Collège Françoise Dupont. He tries his hand at vigilantism after the heroes first make an appearance, becoming The Owl.
  • Animal Motifs: He resembles an owl, befitting his principal status. He also has pictures of owls in his office. Fittingly, when he tries to become a superhero himself, he models himself after Knight Owl.
  • Badass Normal: Subverted. The Owl has no powers...and is regarded as a loser due to his ill-thought-out decisions and general physical ineptitude.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: He has large, bushy black eyebrows, reminiscent of the feather tufts on horned owls.
  • Captain Ersatz: The comic book hero Damocles imitates as "The Owl" is this to Batman.
  • Catchphrase: "Hoo-hoo!" as the Owl.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Subverted. His grappling hook is clearly a toy, with a ludicrously short range. He does manage to replace the string with a longer one, although he's not good at using it.
  • Hero Does Public Service: After he's de-evilized, Damocles still runs around as The Owl, but he dials back his heroism to community service projects which are received much more favorably than his previous attempts.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: "Dark Owl" reveals that he's wanted to be a superhero ever since he was a young boy.
  • Meaningful Name: His first priority is to be fair with his students, but he is unfortunately cowed by Chloé's threats, much like the Sword of Damocles.
  • The Millstone: During his antics as "The Owl", he usually ends up in as much danger as the people he tries to "save", causing Aspik and Ryūko, and later Anatis and Lady Noire to come in and save him. Not only does it cut in on what little free time that they have in their civilian lives, but it is also obvious that should he involve himself with an akuma attack, it would lead to himself, the heroes, and other civilians getting harmed in his efforts to help. After he is de-evilized, he dials it back a bit.
  • Mission Control: Albert, a computer program that isn't as helpful as intended because of its poor voice recognition software.
  • Non-Powered Costumed Hero: He tries to become one in the episode "The Dark Owl", but he doesn't really have the skills to pull it off. In the end, he decides to channel his heroic spirit into community service activities, like helping the homeless or rescuing stray animals.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Mr. Damocles is serious, courteous, and authoritative, and generally tries to be this, but he struggles under pressure, especially when the Bourgeoises are the ones putting him under pressure. Slightly subverted when he nearly suspends Marinette under circumstantial evidence and it take Anatis giving him a small "Reason You Suck" Speech to get him to improve.
  • Super Zeroes: The Owl's incompetence and recklessness are quickly noted by the citizens of Paris.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: The Owl responds to Lady Noire's insistence that he should wear a helmet by pointing out that she and Anatis don't wear helmets. The fact that they get their powers from magical gems, while he is a wannabe Badass Normal, seems to slip his mind.

    Mr. Fred Haprèle
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_111347_pm.png
Fred is an assistant educator at the school, a pantomime performer, and Mylène's father.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Fred has brown hair and eyes.
  • Good Luck Charm: He keeps a picture of his daughter in his coat pocket for good luck.
  • Good Parents: Fred loves his daughter very much and even keeps a picture of her in his breast pocket as a good luck charm.
  • Nice Guy: He is quite friendly and genial.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: As an assistant educator, Fred is serious when it comes to keeping people without permission and who might hurt others out of the school.
  • Ridiculous Procrastinator: Downplayed. Fred is fairly responsible but has a habit of being tardy due to his procrastination.

    Mr Beauregard
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_26_at_111404_pm.png
The teacher in charge of the school's art club.
  • Cool Teacher: Discourages conflict and encourages artistic endeavors.

Other Civilians

Luka's Family

    Anarka Couffaine
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/43fbb83b13ff89d196c6bcc7cd49083f0731c54cr1_1920_1080v2_00.jpg
Luka and Juleka's mother who lives in a houseboat with her children. She loves speaking like a pirate, freedom, and blasting loud music.
  • Cool Old Lady: A bombastic middle-aged woman who takes joy in blasting loud rock music.
  • Family Theme Naming: Like her two children, her name ends in "-ka".
  • Karma Houdini: Never turns her speakers down all the way, in addition to all the other permits she lacked for her houseboat (though Luka told the officer they did have them), but Officer Roger gives her a pass, possibly as a sign of good faith post-akuma.
  • Large Ham: Anarka has very little volume control.
  • Like Father, Unlike Son: Both her children seem to be far more mellow than she is.
  • Moral Myopia: As part of her pirate thing, she doesn't respect law enforcement...or regulations. It turns out her houseboat breaks several regulations, which was only discovered because she refused Roger's request that she turn her speakers down from the dangerous noise levels they were at. Her rage at getting ticketed is what makes her become Captain Hardrock, but she was the one in the wrong.
  • My Secret Pregnancy: When still in his band, Anarka had been in a relationship with Jagged Stone. After a heated argument with him that caused her to leave the band, she found out a couple of weeks later that she was pregnant. When she tried to contact Jagged to tell him, Bob Roth refused to let her talk to him. He told her that Jagged had ordered him to, but in reality, Jagged had no idea she had even tried to contact him. Why he lied we don't know, but it's clear that Jagged still isn't aware of Luka's connection to him.
  • Parental Obliviousness: She is unaware of her son's (and later daughter's) superpowers.
  • The Pig-Pen: While she's not obviously dirty herself, she does chastise Marinette for cleaning up the boat since she apparently likes things messy, and throws all the trash Marinette picked up back on the floor.
  • Punny Name: Anarka, as in "anarchy". Doubles as a Meaningful Name, given her love of personal freedom and contempt for law enforcement.
    • In addition, her last name sounds like "acouphene", which is French for "tinnitus". Given how loud Anarka likes her music, hearing loss is probably in her future.
  • Talk Like a Pirate: She insists on speaking in this manner for no apparent reason other than to have fun with the fact she lives on a houseboat.
  • Wacky Parent, Serious Child: Extremely bombastic and eccentric, especially by comparison to the more mellow Luka and shy Juleka.

    Luka's Father (SPOILERS!!)

Jagged Stone

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/9d431a2e0df74d6045b145e37df70c07.jpg
A popular rock star of whom both Marinette and Luka are fans. It's revealed in "Sandboy" that he's Luka's biological father.

  • Accent Adaptation: He has a British accent.
  • Be Yourself: He adamantly refuses his producer's insistence to copy a trendy DJ, because he prefers Doing It for the Art and encourages Marinette to do the same with her designs.
  • Doing It for the Art: This is the kind of musician he is. He couldn't care less if he's not at the top of the sales charts, as long as he gets to do his own thing. Of course, #2 is still nothing to sneeze at, which he points out to his producer.
  • Eccentric Millionaire: He leans towards this; he picks fights with his producer, has a very unique and distinct style, gives his pet crocodile baths in hotel bathtubs, and so on.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: Suggested to be genuinely fond of Marinette.
  • Keet: He's wild and loves to be entertained.
  • Large Ham: Extremely extroverted and bombastic, Jagged tends to dominate any scene he's in.
  • Nice Guy: Aside from his hamminess, Jagged is very humble and friendly for a famous rocker. When Marinette brings him an album cover concept that isn't very artistic but similar to what his manager—who's more interested in money than artistic integrity—would like, he realizes that his manager told Marinette that he wanted something like that and politely asks her to make another one by following her own instincts.
  • Parental Obliviousness: He is currently unaware that he even has a child. Luka.
  • The Rock Star: Has the typical look and popularity, but the show refrains from portraying more adult aspects of the trope (eg. Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll).
  • Your Son All Along: At first, Jagged Stone isn't aware that Luka is his biological son. However, he had interacted with him a handful of times already. Anarka finally told him the truth in Chapter 37, and he's expressed a desire to get to know his son better.

Marinette's Family

    Tom Dupain
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_27_at_25323_pm.png
Marinette's father. He and his wife, Sabine, own a bakery.
  • But Not Too Foreign: His mother is Italian.
  • Foil: To Gabriel Agreste. Their approaches in parenting are polar opposites. Tom is Happily Married with Sabine and knows what's best for Marinette, while Gabriel is cold and distant with the rest of the household and has been neglecting Adrien for most of his life. Tom genuinely cares about Marinette while occasionally scolding her for her flawed moments, and while Gabriel does care about Adrien, he's been raising him to be passive and is not only unresponsive to Adrien's flaws but is the main cause of his flaws in the first place. And since Gabriel is Hawk Moth, he often hides the truth from Adrien and is willing to brainwash people and inflict destruction on Paris to achieve his goal, even if it involves putting people's lives (especially Adrien's) at risk.
  • Good Parents: With Sabine. They clearly love their daughter, but they are also ready to scold her when they catch her being selfish or mean.
  • Happily Married: With Sabine.
  • Hidden Depths: Tom is a skilled gamer. Pretty impressive, considering how huge his hands are.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: With Sabine. The height difference is not very extreme, but Tom's forearm is about as wide as Sabine's waist. He's also this with his daughter, who's a full head shorter and far slimmer.
  • Meaningful Name: "Dupain" means "bread" in French. He's a baker.
  • Nice Guy: Tom is a caring and kind person.
  • Papa Wolf: He goes against Principal Damocles authority when the latter tries to have Marinette suspended in "Despair Bear".
  • Parental Obliviousness: He (and Sabine) are unaware of their daughter's superpowers.
  • Supreme Chef: He's good enough in the kitchen to be selected to star in the reality show Fill My Shoes with Jagged Stone. Both Luka and Tikki consider him the best baker in the city.
  • Sweet Baker: Like his wife, Tom is a skilled baker and they co-own their bakery. And like Marinette, he is a Nice Guy.
  • Wacky Marriage Proposal: Apparently proposed to Sabine by hiding the ring in one of André's ice cream cones. She nearly swallowed it as a result.

    Sabine Cheng

Marinette's mother. She and her husband, Tom, own a bakery.
  • All Asians Know Martial Arts: Sabine is at least half-Chinese and can wield a baking paddle like a spear.
  • Character Tics: Usually seen drinking tea, especially when giving out pearls of wisdom.
  • Culture Equals Costume: Sabine wears a cheongsam to reflect her Chinese heritage.
  • Good Parents: With Tom. They clearly love their daughter, but they are also ready to scold her when they catch her being selfish or mean.
  • Hidden Depths: In "Troublemaker", she uses a peel as a makeshift Kung Fu spear.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: With Tom. The height difference is not very extreme, but Tom's forearm is about as wide as Sabine's waist.
  • The Maiden Name Debate: Even though she is married, Sabine kept her maiden name.
  • Mama Bear: Sabine uses a peel as a staff weapon in "Troublemaker" when Jagged Stone's cameraman barge into Marinette's room revealing her privacy without permission.
  • Nice Girl: She is gentle, kind, and loving.
  • Parental Obliviousness: She (and Tom) are unaware of their daughter's superpowers.
  • Sweet Baker: Like her husband, Sabine is a skilled baker and they co-own their bakery. And like Marinette, she is a Nice Girl.

    Gina Dupain
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_27_at_25308_pm.png
Marinette's grandmother on her father's side. A cool, motorcycle driving old Italian lady who loves Marinette, but is unfortunately out-of-touch with what Marinette likes.
  • Cool Old Lady: She travels across the world, rides a motorcycle, and is very stylishly dressed.
  • Cool Shades: She wears red glasses with tan rims.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: Downplayed. Her outfit is nearly identical except for the watch and assorted wristbands she has on her left and right wrists, respectively.
  • Foil: To Lila — Both are Italian characters who were akumatized shortly after coming to Paris. But where Gina was upset because her granddaughter, torn between her and the surprise party her friends had set up (without actually managing to hide it), had lied to try and spare her feelings and they eventually reconciled, Lila was upset because Luka as Anatis called her out on her own lies, and Lila actively refused his offer of friendship. Also, Gina isn't very fluent in French (even if she understand it, she's prone to pepper her speech in French with Italian words and has a heavy accent anyway) even if it's not the first time she comes to Paris, while Lila speaks flawless French when she's apparently new to the country.
  • Gratuitous Italian: Between the Italian words she drops and her heavy accent, it's made quite clear that Italian is her native language.
  • Nice Girl: Gina is a kind, loving, and understanding person.
  • Older Than They Look: To be the grandmother of a teenaged girl, she doesn't look older than her son Tom.
  • Shipper on Deck: Implied. When Luka gives Marinette his birthday gift to her, Gina can be seen smiling at the two along with her son and daughter-in-law.
  • Silver Vixen: A rather attractive and good-looking grandmother with white hair.
  • Unwanted Gift Plot: Ends up gifting Marinette with a shirt that's several sizes too small. Marinette salvages it by sewing the shirt design over her purse.

Authority Figures

    Mayor Bourgeois
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_30_at_24012_pm.png
Chloé's father and the mayor of Paris

  • Doting Parent: Deconstructed. André pays for Chloé's every whim and uses his status to ensure she never has to face the consequences of her actions, effectively turning Chloé into the spoiled brat she is today. Though at the end of "Kung Food" he apparently put his foot down for once, kicking Chloé off the jury of his hotel's cooking competition because she sabotaged a contestant.
  • Foil:
    • To Gabriel Agreste — In matters of parenting styles, Mayor Bourgeois is the opposite. While Gabriel is aloof and has placed restriction after restriction on his son's life, André is usually personable but gives his daughter more freedom than is safe or healthy. Also, while Gabriel is openly rude to everyone he does have a softer side, André is more friendly in comparison but can be quite obnoxious, especially when it comes to his daughter.
    • To Tom and Sabine — Both are loving parents to their respective daughters, but while Tom and Sabine know when to discipline Marinette for her behavior, André constantly excuses Chloé's brattiness.
  • Henpecked Husband: His wife has absolutely no respect for him and she has him completely under her thumb.
  • Papa Wolf: Deconstructed. If he feels that his daughter has been wronged, he will go to any lengths to help her... even if it means jumping to conclusions and using his position to threaten others.
  • Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: He's not above abusing his power to get his way, and it's usually similar to his daughter's hissy fits.
  • Sleazy Politician: Mayor Bourgeois is implied to be one. While he doesn't seem to be a bad man, he has made some very questionable decisions.

    Audrey Bourgeois
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_30_at_24839_pm.png
Chloé's henpecking mother, known for being one of the harshest fashion critics.
  • Abusive Parents: When Audrey isn't neglecting Chloé, she's putting her down every minute or misremembering her name. Even if she's nice to her daughter, it's while encouraging her to be spiteful and selfish.
    • In Malediktator Audrey even tries to take Chloé to New York with her by force, even though Chloé wants to stay so she can keep seeing her therapist.
  • Accidental Misnaming: Audrey has as much of a head for names as Chloé. It comes off as Malicious Misnaming at times, since she is too self-centered to be concerned with the names of her husband or daughter.
  • Alpha Bitch: She makes Chloé look nice by comparison, constantly firing (or trying to) anyone around her for the most minor of slights.
  • Bad Boss: She tends to fire people at the drop of a hat, even people that don't even work for her. This is so prominent that "you're fired" becomes the catchphrase of her akumatized form.
  • Catchphrase: "You're fired." She also uses Chloe's "Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!" (or rather the other way around) and variants on it.
  • Caustic Critic: Audrey is a high profile fashion critic, and legendary for being impossible to please.
  • Do Not Taunt Cthulhu: When Audrey continues to demean Chloé after her akumatization into Queen Wasp, Anatis snaps at her, calling her out on her abusive parenting. He's able to talk her into silence.
  • Domestic Abuse: Her treatment of André is frankly emotional abuse, demeaning and insulting him for the slightest thing and making him terrified of disobeying her. He seems to have wised up to this as he wants her as far away from him as possible, so she's moved on to threatening to take Chloé away.
  • The Dreaded: Audrey is so bad that Hawk Moth (who knows her personally) is confident that she would make a villain so vile that he would finally succeed, and after she is defeated he actually almost retires from being Hawk Moth since he feels there's no point in trying anymore if not even a villain made from someone that evil could win (of course, said retirement ends up being of the ten-minute variety).
  • Foil: To Emilie Agreste — both are the Missing Mom of wealthy families, but Mrs. Agreste disappeared relatively recently (less than a year before Aspik and Ryūko first appeared) under mysterious circumstances, while Mrs. Bourgeois intentionally abandoned her family years before. When she is seen in person, even more contrasts to Emilie can be seen. Audrey is a selfish jerk to everyone and prioritizes herself over her own family, while Emilie was a good parent to Adrien and had a genuine relationship with Gabriel, so much so that he became Hawk Moth in order to get her back.
  • Generation Xerox: It's very clear where Chloé got her Alpha Bitch behavior from.
  • It's All About Me: After getting to know Audrey, it's clear where Chloé gets her narcissism and inflated ego from. Audrey thinks that everything is supposed to her way, and even believes she has the authority to fire people who don't even work for her. She even tells her own daughter that the only thing that's exceptional about her is her own mother.
  • Jerkass: She is even worse than Chloé - a narcissistic, egotistical prima donna who thinks she is above everyone else and even treats her daughter very poorly.
  • Like Mother, Like Daughter: If her behavior in "Style Queen" is anything to go by, Chloe gets most of her Alpha Bitch tendencies from her. She is narcissistic, conceited, believes everyone and everything should cater to her, and believes she has the authority to fire anybody (including people who don't even work for her). It is not until the end of "Queen Wasp" does she realize this and promise to be nicer (to Chloe, anyway).
  • Missing Mom: She left Chloé to pursue a career in America when she was only a toddler. She returns in "Style Queen".
  • Parental Abandonment: "Despair Bear" suggests that she left her husband and daughter years ago. It is revealed in "Style Queen" that she lives in New York where she does most of her work.
  • Parental Neglect: In "Zombizou", Sabrina mentions that Audrey never bothered to remember birthdays, likely including her own daughter's.
  • "Reason You Suck" Speech: Anatis delivers a huge one to her at the end of "Queen Wasp". See Luka's tab for more details.
  • Rich Bitch: Audrey is dumbfounded that she would be made to walk on a fabric carpet when she ordered a marble one.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Connections!: Turns out Chloé got this trait from her, as she's happy to use her husband's position to demand ridiculous things.
  • Shadow Archetype: Audrey, who puts her daughter's selfishness and arrogance to shame, is clearly what Chloé will become if she doesn't clean up her act and learn humility.
  • Shared Family Quirks: She and Chloé share a lot of mannerisms. At least some of this is Chloé consciously copying her.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Much like her daughter, Audrey does not know when to draw the line when it comes to pushing other people's buttons. She does not seem the least bit alarmed by Chloé's transformation into Queen Bee, nor does she sm to care that the hero of Paris, Anatis, is chastising her, only continuing to back talk and even attempts to fire him.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: André is an overweight man, and seemingly older than the statuesque Audrey.
  • You Are the New Trend: She has a lot of sway in the fashion world, having turned Gabriel from "drawing his unworldly designs in his dismal, cramped studio" into one of the richest fashion-moguls in France, something she almost did with Marinette.

    Lieutenant Roger Raincomprix
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_30_at_24000_pm.png
Sabrina's father, a policeman.
  • Alliterative Name: Roger Raincomprix.
  • Butt-Monkey: Many of his scenes involve him being thrown about by various supervillains.
  • By-the-Book Cop: He follows the law to a T, no matter how wealthy or influential the people involved in a case are.
    • He also tries to be fair to people only violating things like noise ordinances, giving Anarka a warning that she'll need to turn down the volume on her speakers. But when she gets belligerent about his reasonable request, he promptly charges her with all the other regulations her houseboat was breaking. Post-akuma, he takes her turning the speakers almost all of the way down as a sign of good faith and doesn't charge her for anything for the rest of the day.
  • Determinator: In "Captain Hardrock", he will not stop trying to arrest the titular akuma, even if he is ludicrously outmatched.
  • Jerkass Ball: Whenever his actions are required to akumatize someone, he'll ticket them for petty reasons like ruining his mood or just because he felt like it.
  • Lawful Stupid: He occasionally prioritizes enforcing the law over his own self-preservation when he confronts people who are clearly akumatized and capable of crushing him like a grape.
  • Police Are Useless: Being a normal cop, Roger is rarely any help against supervillains, although he does try his best. Especially against Captain Hardrock, whom he never gives up the pursuit of leading to him distracting her at an important time for the heroes.
  • Punny Name: "Raincomprix" is very phonetically close to "rien compris" ("understood nothing").

    Adrien's chauffeur/Gorilla
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/screen_shot_2020_11_30_at_34654_pm.png

Adrien's bodyguard and driver for the Agreste family.

  • Animal Motifs: He's sometimes called "The Gorilla" (which is French slang for a bodyguard). He's also akumatized into a villain, which resembles a giant gorilla.
  • Badass Bystander: Downplayed since it never amounts to anything, but there are several instances where he challenges an akuma to protect Adrien.
  • Bait-and-Switch Boss: He gets akumatized after he gets caught up in Marinette's Zany Scheme to get dates with Adrien and Luka, but he calms down at the last second and the role goes to a nearby infant.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: Despite his extremely intimidating appearance, he is fond of Adrien and often goes behind his boss's back to make him happy.
  • Closet Geek: He reads superhuman comic books and has an extensive collection of superhuman action figures.
  • The Driver: His main role is to drive Adrien around in the Agreste's family car, although he sometimes also acts as his bodyguard.
  • Hidden Badass: His large size makes him someone you don't want to end up fighting.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He may be a serious, grim, and stoic man, but his reaction to seeing that Adrien is safe in "Gigantitan" shows that he really does care for his young charge. He also often disobeys his boss on many occasions.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: No indication has been given that he knows that Gabriel is Hawk Moth.
  • No Name Given: So far we don't know his real name.
  • Primal Fear: The New York special reveals he's deeply afraid of flying. He has to listen to relaxing music throughout the plane ride and even when he lands.
  • Serious Business:
    • According to Hawk Moth in "Gigantitan", the Gorilla takes his job as a chauffeur very seriously, to the point that a few parking tickets made him susceptible to being akumatized before he calmed down at the last second.
    • He is an avid collector of action hero figures. So much that he is willing to go behind Gabriel's back by letting Adrien's friends throw a party in the house for a few rare ones.
  • Token Good Teammate: Between himself, Gabriel, and Nathalie, he's the only one who's not actively crusading for Hawk Moth's goals (at least when not akumatized).
  • To Be Lawful or Good: Despite being under Gabriel's payroll, he frequently disobeys him in order to let Adrien do what he wants to do, firmly setting him as the Good part of this trope.
  • The Voiceless: He never bothers to speak; he just grunts menacingly a couple of times.
