And The Fandom Rejoiced / Disney

Go To

Disney Animated Canon

  • The Lion King re-released in 3D!. And it was such a success that Disney decided to do similar re-releases with The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo, and Monsters, Inc..
    • Sadly, The Little Mermaid didn't get a 3D re-release due to most of the preceding movies performing worse than The Lion King, but at least it received a 3D Blu-Ray Disc.
  • Okay, there's The Princess and the Frog, with one group of people complaining that Disney's going to screw up and make it all racist and another group whining how Disney's caving in and making it too politically correct. Out comes the second trailer... Whoops, everyone's busy squealing with excitement now!
    • And Keith David gets a Villain Song?!
      • With Randy Newman doing both the score and the songs, who can't be excited to listen?
    • At least some of the fandom rejoiced much earlier, simply because Disney announced this as their first hand-drawn film since 2004.
    • And there was a lot of rejoicing when it was announced that Anika Noni Rose, who stole quite a lot of scenes in the film version of Dreamgirls, was going to voice the titular princess.
  • While we are talking about Disney, The Great Mouse Detective is also a great example: "Oh...Sherlock Holmes. Mice. How original. Thanks for killing another classi...hey, is that Vincent Price? As the main villain? It must be awesome."
  • Looks like Oliver & Company is being ignored aga— wait, it's getting a BLU-RAY RELEASE? ON ITS 25TH ANNIVERSARY?? HELL YEAH!
  • A Disney film set in Polynesia, with a release date for 2016? That's a cool idea, but I don't see how this could be worth the...wait a minute, JOHN MUSKER AND RON CLEMENTS ARE DIRECTING?!
    • Yeah, that's cool and all, but who's doing the music? I mean, Frozen is going to be a tough act to follow...LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA?!?!? Thank you, gods of Disney and music theatre!
    • Do you smell what The Rock is cookin'?
    • Disney really had it rough last year. The MCU is too hit or miss these days, Star Wars is in shambles, Pixar's movies are flopping at the box office, the parks are getting too greedy, we have too many remakes, and their latest animated film was pretty mediocre. How are they gonna pick up in 2024? Wait a minute...what's this? We're getting a sequel to Moana?! And it's coming out in November?! CHEEEEEEEE-HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
  • Oh, Zootopia is gonna be released on Blu-ray. But Disney's going to screw it up like they did their Blu-rays of Frozen and Big Hero 6 by not releasing it in... wait a second, they're going to do an Ultimate Collector's Edition in 3D? Count me in! And on a related note, the Furry Fandom was overwhelmed with joy when they learned that it won Best Animated Feature for the 2017 Oscars.
    • Alright, so we've already gotten more sequels for Toy Story and Frozen confirmed. What else have you got Disney? Zootopia 2?! After all this time, our hopes have been answered!
  • So Wreck-It Ralph is getting a sequel called Ralph Breaks the Internet, huh? Seems awesome! Let's see what they'll reveal at D23 2017—HOLY CRAP, ARE YOU SERIOUS?! Every single Disney character EVER appearing?! Including from Pixar, Marvel and Lucasfilm?! And every single Disney Princess will be there WITH ALMOST ALL OF THEM REPRISING THEIR ORIGINAL ROLES?! Disney, SHUT. UP. AND. TAKE. MY. MONEY!

Pixar

  • Pixar is making another Monsters, Inc. movie? After all this time? It's gonna be a prequel? YES!
  • Lee Unkrich yanked Toy Story 3 from the hands of Disney's direct-to-video sequel producers? Yee-hah!
    • OK, so it's Toy Story 3; it's going to be good, but nothing's gotten me riled - wait, what's at 0:43 in this Youtube video... HOLY CRAP IT'S MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO.
    • And they're bringing back Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, John Ratzenberger and (most of) the original cast? YAY!
  • After the ambiguous success of Brave, there was some fear that Pixar films with female leads wouldn't be happening anytime soon. But then there was the announcement of Inside Out, which will take place in a girl's mind where three of the five anthropomorphized emotions are women. And then there was the announcement of Turning Red also featuring a female lead.
  • We're FINALLY getting an Incredibles 2.
  • Finding Nemo is such an amazing movie, it should have gotten a sequel. But it's been so long, and if it did, happen, it wouldn't necessarily be good. Wait...they're making one after all?? And it will star our beloved forgetful blue tang, Dory?? Pixar, you've just made my greatest dreams come true!

Others

  • A Frankenweenie remake? Not so sure about—wait, it's being made in stop motion animation? Interesting—TIM BURTON IS DIRECTING. Pinch me, I must be dreaming.
  • The Walt Disney Records Legacy Collection of soundtracks, when it doesn't just repackage old CDs with more bonus features, generates excitement for finally making some long-desired pieces of Disney music available to legally own on CD and digital (together with the songs and score included on previous soundtracks, of course):
