- Raising Helen: Penny Lane and Jessie find out that their late sister Lynette Scavo and her also late husband left Little Rock, Captain Crandall and Claire Bennet for Penny to look after, while she falls in love with their school principal Aidan Shaw. Penny's boss is Queen Elizabeth II.
- Raising the Wind: Dr. Burke, Paul Ashby, Sam Turner, and Delia King are music students sharing a flat owned by their landlady, Bridget Madderley. At their music school, the head conductor is Sir Lancelot Spratt, Paul is taught by Inspector Mills, and the Khasi of Kalabar is a snooty senior student. Trouble arises when Dr. Burke gets drunk and risks his scholarship by selling an existing song to music publishers Sid Boggle and Wilfred Haines.
- Rambo:
- First Blood: Stakar Ogord returns home from The Vietnam War to visit a dying friend only to find himself wrongfully arrested by Big Tom Callahan II. He escapes from jail and fights Big Tom and several of his officers and National Guardsmen, including Gabby Johnson, Horatio Caine, and Admiral Pike. Walter Denton is Stakar's mentor.

- Marvel Comics Edition: Wolverine is the father of Young Thor. Wolverine chooses to participate in robot fights so he can help Hope Van Dyne. Falcon is a bookmaker and Wolverine's debtor is Fred Dukes.
- Re-Animator: Weyoun is a Mad Scientist who drags Rylan Sargent into his experiments in resurrecting the dead. Trista Evans Bradford is Rylan's girlfriend.

But things go From Bad to Worse when their family is coming over for Christmas dinner, such as John Doe and Sally's deliquent son Chuckie, who had been away at military school ran by J. Jonah Jameson. Also coming over are their neighbor Schuyler Colfax, John Doe's brother Gary and his wife Maryann Thorp, and John Doe and Gary's domineering mother Winifred Banks. Now it's up to Edgar to help them solve their family issues.
- A Bug's Life version: Francis is a cat burglar who breaks into Hopper's house and helps him solve his family issues.
- Reign of Fire: The Borg Queen is killed when she wakes a hibernating dragon, leaving her son John Connor to lead the survivors with King Leonidas. Dr. Bashir hears a disturbance on the radio, hailing the arrival of Wooderson. The community is massacred, so John, Wooderson, and a helicopter pilot go to London to kill the only male dragon.
- Remember Me: Edward Cullen falls for Claire Littleton. Impeding their relationship are their respective fathers, James Bond and Mr. Sir.
- Remember the Titans: Based on a True Story. In the early '70s the world's greatest Grouch poet becomes the coach of a high school football team, with former coach Dan Weaver staying on board as his assistant; Opie (not that one), Avon Barksdale and other players have problems getting along as a result, but with assists from Randy Hickey they come together. Chris Turk, Noah Calhoun, Ben Parker and a man who's destined to sleep with Weaver's daughter are also on the team, and Lois Lane is in this as well.

- Revolutionary Road: Rose and Jack discover married life in The '50s really sucks. Their neighbor Annie Wilkes' marriage is somewhat better, if it weren't for her disturbed, brutally honest son Zod. Jack ends up cheating on Rose with Ruby Sparks, and Rose ends up cheating on Jack with Sheriff Jim Hopper, who's married to Agnes.
- Rhinoceros: Leo Bloom watches Max Bialystock turn into a rhinoceros. Myrtle Wilson is Leo's love interest.
- Richie Rich: Kevin McAllister is the richest kid in the world. Max is his dad, and Van Pelt is his butler.
- Ricochet: Whip Whitaker and Dick Solomon become arch-enemies.
- Ricki and the Flash: Artemis Gordon and Julia Child's (actual (Julia's, not Artemis')) daughter is getting married, but the couple's wedding jitters force Julia to act like a parent for the first time in, well, ever.

- Road House (1989): Johnny Castle is a bouncer who gets hired by Mister Snyder to help straighten out his bar. However, Johnny soon makes enemies with local businessman Jackie Treehorn. Gen. Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross is Johnny's former mentor, Kerry Coughlin is Johnny's love interest, and Roger is a bartender.
- Road to Perdition: Forrest Gump is an assassin working for Doc Hudson and his disappointing son James Bond, and is hunted by Gigolo Joe. Forrest's own son happens to be Superman.
- Robert Langdon film series:
- The Da Vinci Code: Woody Pride and Amélie Poulain run around Europe trying to solve the mystery of Amelie's father's death at the hands of Chaucer while being pursued by Inspector Leon. Gandalf and Dr. Octopus involve themselves in the vast conspiracy.
- Angels & Demons: Woody goes to Vatican City and helps Father Obi Wan-Kenobi. Lara Lor-Van and Boris Shcherbina are also in there.
- Inferno: Woody and the mysterious Jyn Erso search for a secret in Dante's Inferno that can help stopping the diabolical plan of a dead Medivh.
- Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves: Jonathan Kent befriends God and battles Severus Snape.
- Ridley Scott's Robin Hood (2010): Maximus fights for his country and the fair Lady Galadriel (the widow of Sir Willy Wonka, who was the son of Sir Ming the Merciless). He is opposed by Sinestro.
- Robin Hood (2018): Eggsy, a war-hardened Crusader with a knack for archery. With the help of Electro and an outlaw group called the Merry Men, Eggsy takes it upon himself to take down the corrupt English crown, which claims the Sheriff of Nottingham Talos as one of its enforcers.
- RoboCop (1987): Policeman Buckaroo Banzai is reanimated as a cyborg by Shan Yu after he and his partner, Chris Hargenson are foiled by Red Forman and his gang of sadistic criminals, among whom are Leland Palmer, Robert Romano, and Cyler Johnson. Shan Yu's bosses include Grant Walker and Andrew Bogomil, the latter of whom is in a Big Bad Duumvirate with Red and even sends Red to kill Shan. Goofy is a news anchor.
- RoboCop 2: Buckaroo and Chris have to deal with a drug cult led by Francis Dolarhyde, who also has Leora Maxwell and Littlefoot as lackeys. Francis is then turned into an Evil Counterpart to Buckaroo by evil psychologist Katie Hurley. The Devil and Alotta Fagina are briefly seen advertising respectively car theft deterrent devices and sunscreen.
- RoboCop 3: Buckaroo is now Patrick Simmons and the company that made him a cyborg is now under the control of Iroh and Zed. When Chris is killed by Postumus, Patrick and Jordan Cavanaugh team up with Amanda Waller, George Carey, and Commandant Spangler to stop them. In response to this, Iroh sends Shang Tsung after them. Buck Strickland is also a member of the rebels, but he sells Waller and company out to Postumus. Pintel attempts to rob a donut shop, only for a lot of cops, including the director of Iron Man 3, to aim guns at him and Murray Goldberg to mock him.
- RoboCop (2014): Stephen Holder is rebuilt as the titular cyborg by Commissioner Gordon. Beetlejuice is in charge of the company that Gordon works for, Rorschach trains Holder, Nick Fury is a TV pundit, Sweet Pea is married to Holder, Omar Little is Holder's partner, and Vivian Johnson is the chief of police.
- Robot and Frank: Richard Nixon is an ex-Gentleman Thief who's starting to go senile so his kids Arwen and Green Goblin get him a robot companion voiced by "Bootstrap" Bill Turner. Also starring Louise.
- The Rock: General Gene Kranz has taken control of Alcatraz Island, so FBI director Leo McGarry reluctantly recruits the only man to ever escape from Alcatraz, James Bond, under the supervision of Dr. Cameron Poe, to join Commander Dwayne Hicks' Navy SEAL team to infiltrate Alcatraz and stop Kranz.
- The Rocker: Dwight Schrute the drummer for the band Vesuvius. However, when Vesuvius Sweet Tooth Voice, Rocket Raccoon and Brainy Smurf betrays him for a chance to hit the big time, he swears to become bigger than they've ever been...Twenty years later, his life is down the drain, he's living with his sister Sue Sylvester, and drumming brings him pain. - Rock Star: Leo Davidson, the lead singer of a tribute band Blood Pollution with Sarah "Rose" O'Reilly as a manager of the band and Agent 47 as a guitarist later becomes lead singer of the real band he idolizes Steel Dragon with Jerus Jannick as rhythm guitarist.
- The Rocketeer: Quincy Morris is an aspiring 30s pilot who, with his mechanic friend Edwin Hoover finds a prototype rocket-pack, originally made by and stolen from John Locke by Paul Cicero's mob, who was contracted by James Bond. In his search for the rocket-pack, Bond seduces and abducts Quincy's girlfriend, aspiring actress Sarah Williams.
- Rocky: Stakar Ogord is an everyman amateur boxer who is given the chance to face the heavyweight champion of the world Greef Karga. The Penguin becomes his trainer. He also forms a romance with Connie Corleone, the sister of his friend Lou.
- Rocky II: After the first fight ends with Greef winning by split decision, Greef and Stakar have a rematch, while Stakar marries Connie.
- Rocky III: Stakar, now the heavyweight champion, loses the title to B. A. Baracus. After the Penguin dies, Greef helps Stakar train for the rematch with B. A. Stakar also participates in a charity match against Shep Ramsey.

- Running Scared (2006): Six, the adolescent son of a mid-level Russian mobster, steals a gun from his neighbor's house in an effort to get back at his abusive father, only to take off running into the city. Brian O'Conner, a mid-level mafioso, is tasked with disposing of several guns used by mobsters to kill Dirty Cops, but Six, his neighbor, steals one before he can do anything with them. - Rush Hour (1998): Chon Wang is a Hong Kong detective called to LA by the Chinese consul Cheng Zhi, to whom he's a family friend, to rescue his daughter, who's been kidnapped by General Cornwallis. He finds himself partnered with LA cop Ruby Rhod, who FBI agent Drake had originally called to keep busy while the FBI works on the case. Though together, they search for the consul's daughter, with a little help from Ruby's colleague Mirage.
- Rush Hour 2: Chon and Ruby are back, and this time, they're investigating a counterfeiting scheme involving Chon's former colleague Joey Tai. Among their difficulties is Tai's enforcer, Jen Yu.
