    Koutarou Satomi

Koutarou Satomi

A high schooler who inhabits Room 106 of Corona House due to its cheap monthly rent of 5,000 yen. Unfortunately for him, his room ends up being a Weirdness Magnet inviting all sorts of "invaders" after it.

  • Accidental Pervert: He finds his head, and then his hands, somewhere very unfortunate when Theiamillis comes through the wall for the first time.
  • Becoming the Mask: Despite just trying to "act" as the Blue Knight in Ancient Forthorthe, he gets more and more into his "role" to the point that he shouted a quote from his "script" without even realizing it.
  • Beetle Maniac: He enjoys hunting beetles, a hobby that he's been doing since childhood. This is also why Ruth hates beetles so much; Koutarou mistakes her for one in his sleep and then makes it sound like he likes beetles more than Ruth.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's quite nice and friendly. Just NEVER hurt those dear to him. He will go hell and back to save them and make you suffer.
  • Big Damn Heroes: As befitting the Knight in Shining Armor, he gets lots of these. When he presents Theia with the scoreboard for the room competition and swears allegiance to her right before she has to go home is probably one of the most romantic scenes in the whole series.
  • Book Dumb: At least in comparison to (most of) the girls.
  • Chaste Hero: While he is actually fairly open about his affection for all the invaders, moving beyond being Just Friends is going to take a lot of work for the girls.
  • Chick Magnet: Every girl trying to take over his apartment loves him, followed by his Club President and about any other female he comes to know personally. And taken way beyond if you consider the female students who are too afraid to confess to him, and his fangirls as the 'Blue Knight' (both Earthling students and the millions of millions of Forthorthians spanning from 2000 years ago to present day).
  • Determinator: One of the things that make him so knight-like in the first place. Even on the brink of death, he will still stand up in order to protect the girls.
    • To the point that he inspired the Goddess of Dawn to create the entire multiverse and helped the Silver Princess defeat the coup forces in ancient Forthorthe to keep his promises to the Invaders.
  • Drill Sergeant Nasty: Of the absolutely implacable but pleasant style, when he's helping Yurika study.
  • Dual Wielding: Does this with Saguratin and Signaltin from time to time.
  • Expy: Loosely based on the monk Daisuke/Chudai from Nansō Satomi Hakkenden, who gathers the Eight Dog Warriors under the Satomi clan after he and his father are indirectly responsible for their birth.
  • The Gadfly: He's both on the giving (to Theia, Clan, and sometimes Harumi) and receiving (from Kiriha, Elfaria, and sometimes Shizuka and Harumi too) end.
  • Good Flaws, Bad Flaws: Due to his Dark and Troubled Past, he always notices those around him and helps them when they need it, but at the same time, tries not to depend on anyone else. This causes trouble for the girls, especially when he accidentally hurts them. It manifests specifically as an absolute determination to keep his promises but with zero expectation that anyone else will keep theirs. Thankfully after Theia and Kiriha calls him out on this, he has been trying to suppress his tendency to avoid getting help and be more careful on what he says.
  • Harem-Powered: Played in a more practical, long-term method than usual. Koutarou finds himself in situations where one of the girls in his Battle Harem teaches him some type of skill (such as swordfighting) or bestows upon him an item (like a sword or armor) that slowly starts to turn him from an Ordinary High-School Student into the spitting image of the legendary Blue Knight. This alludes to the fact that Koutarou is, in fact, said Blue Knight and most of the girls have some sort of connection with him.
  • Harmful to Minors: His mother died in front of him when she saved him from a traffic accident.
  • House Husband: He learned homemaking skills for the sake of his dad after his mom died. He takes care of Clan during their time in ancient Forthorthe and takes over for the house duties when the girls are all busy creating Nana's replacement parts.
    • In one of the later novels, one of Nalfa Laren's more popular web series featuring Koutarou is a cooking show where he demonstrates his memory of ancient Forthorthian cooking - and reminisces about the Silver Princess.
  • Idiot Ball: Thinks the Sun Rangers in episode 10 are holding one after all five of the group show up in the same costume and have the same name, and berates them for it.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Would really rather live as as an Ordinary High-School Student and have a normal life. Admittedly, one with his nine girlfriends.
  • I Know Mortal Kombat: Got trained in swordsmanship as a way to rehearse playing the Blue Knight in a play, then actually had to use those skills when he became the actual Blue Knight.
  • Innocently Insensitive: He tells Sanae they're enemies. While it's true their relationship started that way, by the time he says this, they have begun to become friends and Sanae is very hurt by him not seeming to see that. Thanks to Harumi's advice, he realizes his mistake and makes up with Sanae.
  • Jack of All Trades: Seems to fit this in the group:
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Theia specifically trains him to act and fight like one so he can play the role of the Blue Knight flawlessly. This causes a Stable Time Loop when Koutarou is sent back in time and impersonates the Blue Knight as Theia taught him only to end up becoming the Blue Knight from the legend.
  • Lady and Knight: His invader harem notes he treats Harumi differently from them, acting like a knight who wants to protect his princess. It's foreshadowing to Koutarou eventually traveling back in time to become the legendary Blue Knight who protected the Silver Princess, Harumi's past life.
  • Living Emotional Crutch: He's an emotional support to Maki before she starts to bond with the others.
  • Male Might, Female Finesse: In swordsmanship, he's the athletic Dual Wielding knight compared to Ruth's quick, rapier-like style.
  • Master Swordsman: He's personally trained by Theia and developed a competent level while wearing the Blue Knight (ship)'s armor and also using spiritual energy. But after his experiences in ancient Forthorthe, he's skilled enough to block bullets.
  • Never Be Hurt Again: He's afraid everyone he loves will be taken away from him like before. From his point of view, everyone he cares about will eventually leave him, so he initially doesn't want to get too close with anyone.
  • Nice Guy: Despite being skeptical of all of the girls' claims for his room, he is still willing to help them out when they have problems.
  • One-Handed Zweihänder: He dual-wields a pair. Though that happens after making adjustments to his armor since realistically it wouldn't happen normally.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When he has a serious face, there may be a huge problem. More so if he's livid.
  • Older Than He Looks: Downplayed. After several months of travelling in the past and freezing time for 2000+ years, he doesn't look that different after disappearing.
  • Ordinary High-School Student: He was a high schooler like any other until his new apartment is invaded by ghosts, Magical Girls, underground people and aliens. He also becomes a legendary knight and the literal reason why the universe exists via Time Travel.
  • Powered Armor: Theia's ship Blue Knight comes with a powered suit styled after the hero's medieval armour, which doubles as a motion control device for ship-to-ship combat. Theia initially lends it to Koutarou as his costume for the play, and later he pulls it out whenever he's expecting a serious fight. It comes with Deflector Shields and a Jet Pack, and also incorporates a gauntlet from Kiriha that can turn Koutarou's spiritual energy into fire and lightning.
    • In volume 15 it receives a Mecha Expansion Pack in the form of the "Garb of Lord", a shoulder attachment which provides an additional barrier and point-defence system.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Despite his talent in baseball, he chose to enter the knitting club. For reasons left unexplained, it seems to have something to do with wanting to make his current project himself. He's also a good cook which is helpful in ancient Forthorthe.
  • The Rival: While Vandarion is his arch-enemy, Elexis has a more friendly term with him, even easily putting an Enemy Mine.
  • Selective Obliviousness: Part of the reason Koutarou finds it so hard to believe that Yurika is a magical girl is because he's happy to have another "normal person" in Room 106, and doesn't want to see someone as timid as Yurika forced onto a battlefield.
  • Shut Up, Hannibal!: Punches Tayuma in episode 11 when he details his plans to kill Kiriha and blame the surface world for her death.
  • Stock Light-Novel Hero: Koutarou is an Ordinary High-School Student who gets an Unwanted Harem of cute supernatural girls who are fighting over his apartment. That's pretty standard for light novels. In later stages of the story, Time Travel shenanigans turn him into the legendary Knight in Shining Armor of another planet, he meets some of his harem members in the past and makes them fall in love with him before he ever met them. Oh, and he inspires a goddess to create the universe out of love for him.
  • Super Wrist-Gadget: After his travels with Clan, he receives a Forthortian communicator which he can use to summon his sword and armour.
  • Thanks for the Mammary: Does this to Theiamillis accidentally when she pops into his room through a portal.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Getting Theia's training gave him some steps of this, but going through the events of volume 7.5 and 8.5 definitely did this.
    • In Volume 9, he defeats Elexis's Warlord series powered armor with just Signaltin
    • In Volume 30, he takes on a squad of 40 undercover Forthorthian military armed with terrestrial small arms and submachine gunes, again just with Signaltin (and Harumi's support as Signaltin's contrator). His only concern is his inability to take the fight to them while defending their intended targets (Nalfa Laren, Kenji, and Kotori); they escape with moderate casualties before the remaining Invaders arrive to provide backup.
  • Training from Hell: Subjected to excessive "knight training" from Theiamillis in episode 7 to ensure he performs the role of the Blue Knight in the play she wrote.
  • Tranquil Fury: After Alaia and Charl are kidnapped, he acts calm as to not alarm others, but his gestures shows he's livid. A similar case happens in Volume 13 after the girls are badly injured, where his actions speak for themselves.
  • Tsundere: Very downplayed. He's not that gruff, but as a man, he just can't admit that he greatly cares for the girls upfront.
  • Two First Names: Satomi is a feminine Japanese given name which is also used as a surname like in Koutarou's case.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: This is how Alaia and her companions view his relation with Clan since while the two of them are formal with them, from their perspective they are very open to each other.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Thanks to an artifact awakening near the rokujyouma he rented, he attracts a ghost, two magical girls, a mole person, a landlady with a dragon, and two human aliens.
  • Wise Beyond Their Years: Downplayed, though it says a lot when a high-school student has experience in war, especially as a general among other experiences he gained in ancient Forthorthe.
  • Unwanted Harem: He develops a harem right away after moving into his new apartment. Thing is, none of them are actually interested in him at first, just his living space. However, they do gradually fall in love with him as they spend more time together and he helps them out with their various issues.
  • You Will Be Beethoven: When he is sent to Ancient Forthorthe and saves Alaia, Clan explains that he has gotten in the way of her meeting with the Blue Knight. In order to create a Close-Enough Timeline, he continues to act as the Blue Knight, while Clan travels around to find the real one. It turns out that the Blue Knight was his time-traveling self in the first place.

The Invaders

    In General
  • All Your Powers Combined: In Volume 13, Koutarou and Elixis lampshade that Koutarou is dependent on Sanae and Kiriha's spiritual energy/technology, Harumi, Yurika, and Maki's magic, and Theia, Clan, and Ruth's Forthorthian technology.
    • When two or more of the Invaders combined via merge magic, they form the Goddess of Dawn.
    • All nine Invaders combine a portion of their life energy to reform Saguratin and Signaltin into the Sword of Harmony, Nalfalaren.
  • Balanced Harem: Koutarou treats and cares each girl, though uniquely, equally. He even realizes this when Kenji asked him which one he prefers the most. Also Invoked on him by the girls note  as while Koutarou had become important to their lives, each of them also care for each other enough that they don't treat each other as romantic rivals and would happily help each other advance. Seeing this, Kiriha advised a plan in that rather than facilitating him into choosing one girl, they'll make it impossible for him to choose.
  • Battle Harem: Each of girl in Koutarou's harem has high level combat capabilities and can kick your ass.
    • One example: in Volume 37, the Invaders by themselves cakewalk through 500 Forthorthian soldiers as part of a training exercise.
  • Color-Coded Wizardry: Each of the nine girls is associated with a color that's quite fitting with their personality and abilities (which also aligns with the color-coding of Folsarian magic). This only appears when they fuse and when at least two girls fuse, they instead form the Goddess of Dawn. It's also used as an accent color on their Satomi Knights uniforms.
    • Red - Theia, being the one who focuses most on offense with the Blue Knight.
    • Orange - Clan, due to her skill as an inventor and can cover her appearance using her inventions.
    • Yellow - Ruth, the reinforcement and intelligence group.
    • Green - Kiriha, the most intelligent of the girls and the main strategist.
    • Blue - Yurika, the one who uses healing magic. Summoning acid and poison clouds also falls under this.
    • Indigo - Maki, the previous Dark Navy and mind manipulator.
    • Purple - Sanae, the spiritual energy expert.
    • White - Alaia/Harumi, the Goddess' avatar and the bearer of Signaltin.
    • Black - Shizuka, martial arts expert and host of Dragon King Alunaya.
  • Easily Forgiven: Maki and Clan are rather easily welcomed by the group after their Heel–Face Turn. Though this is justified as most of the group had a rough start with each other and them denying the two would make them a bunch of hypocrites.
  • Fantasy Kitchen Sink: It seems like this at first, what with the ghost, magical girls, mole person, and the Human Aliens, but as noted above in Everyone Is Related, the "Kitchen Sink" breaks down when it turns out that everything is connected to ancient Forthorthe and Koutarou.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With the exception of Shizuka, Harumi, and Ruth, Koutarou and the others' first interactions are rocky until he bonds with them through overcoming a conflict together.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble:
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: All of them lose their memories of the events in volume 29. Though it's by their own accord.
  • Literal Split Personality: The invaders each represent a part of the Goddess of Dawn; from their personalities, abilities, and even insecurities. This isn't limited to the current invaders, as others like Elfaria and Celeishu took the title in other realities.
  • Magic Enhancement: As of book 30, by calling on their bond to the sword Nalfalaren all the invaders can use a small amount of magic in their respective colour (e.g. Theia surrounding her attacks in a red aura which increases their destructive power).
  • Magic Knight: Lampshaded in Volume 30
  • Mindlink Mates: As of Book 30, the invaders can link their minds with Koutarou and each other by activating their crests; this bond can even be used to transfer energy between the group.
  • Next Tier Power-Up: Both Koutarou and his Battle Harem eventually get new tricks and power-ups to keep up with the villains. The exception being Kiriha, who's already smart enough as it is, and downplayed on Yurika, who grows mainly through increased confidence, the cast learning that her magic is actually real (allowing them to incorporate her into their plans), and adding more magic to her repertoire (such as poison and acid, to her dismay).
  • One Degree of Separation: Turns out that each of the characters have some connections to another, and all of them are connected to Forthorthians and Koutarou. And all of this happened because of the Stable Time Loop created by Koutarou and Clan's journey. To list:
    • Sanae was kidnapped by Maya, the former Dark Navy as a kid. Her mother was also Nana's cooperator during her time as a magical girl.
    • Yurika and Maki (and all of Folsaria) are descendants of Grevanas and Ancient Forthorthian magicians.
    • Kiriha and her people have Forthorthian blood in them as they're descendants of Maxfern and Ancient Forthorthian alchemists thus making them Uneven Hybrid of Japanese humans with Forthorthian blood.
    • Harumi is the reincarnation of Alaia, former Forthorthian Empress.
    • Shizuka has Alunaya, an Ancient Forthorthian dragon inside her.
  • Pieces of God: All the invaders turn out to be aspects of Nalfa Laren, Goddess of Dawn and creator of the universe. Though they represent a part rather than be a piece themselves, as described in several alternate realities where other girls take the role.
  • Power Tattoo: In book 30, after the Invaders bond to the the sword Nalfalaren, they all receive a sword-shaped crest like Harumi's which glows when tapping into its powers, allowing them to communicate telepathically.
  • Summon to Hand: After jointly investing their power into the swords Signaltin and Saguratin, all the invaders gain the ability to summon them to their location.
  • Superhero Team Uniform: After forming the Satomi Knights, the girls gradually adopt a team uniform consisting of a navy tunic and black breastplate, with a white skirt, cropped jacket and long gloves, and detailing in each girl's signature colour, with some individual modifications. It's used somewhat inconsistently, since some of the group have reasons not to wear it (e.g. Theia can't be her own knight, while Yurika already wears a Rainbow Heart uniform) and they don't always have time to get changed anyway.
  • True Companions: They eventually become united like a family.

    Sanae Higashihongan

Sanae Higashihongan

Voiced by: Eri Suzuki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sanae_higashihongan_9.png

A ghost who haunts Room 106, waiting for her parents to come back. The first "invader", she initially tries to kick Koutarou out of her home, but ends up calling a truce until the other weirdos trying to steal/destroy the room can be dealt with. This soon grows into the two caring for each other like brother and sister.

  • A-Cup Angst: Downplayed in the anime, but she's just as jealous about Kiriha's chest as Theia is. Her first words to Theia after returning to her body? State her breasts got a little bigger.
  • An Astral Projection, Not a Ghost: She's initially believed to be a ghost, but she's really the result of a failed attempt to steal the life force of a powerful psychic, which inadvertently left behind a clump of energy so concentrated that it took on the original person's appearance and personality, creating an "artificial ghost". Eventually she fuses with her human self, after which she takes the appearance of her ghost form while using Astral Projection.
  • Aura Vision: She's capable of reading peoples' auras to judge their personalities, relationships, and how they're about to move in a fight.
  • Cute Ghost Girl: Volume 1 notes that she looks close to elementary school age. Calls herself adorable, no one objects.
  • Energy Bow: After her power increases, Sanae begins to favour crafting a Sacred Bow and Arrows out of spiritual energy, which she excitedly refers to as "Sanae-chan God Arrow!"
  • Ethereal White Dress: She's a ghost girl who always wears a white dress.
  • Friendly Ghost: Although she initially wants everyone out of Room 106, Sanae is a fairly nice ghost who looks and acts like a normal little girl.
  • Genki Girl: She's probably the most energetic out of all the invaders.
  • Haunted Fetter: Initially bound to Room 106 and unable to travel far away, she soon manages to snap her fetter out of desire to help her friends. By the end of Volume 10, Sanae considers her friendship with Koutarou more important than her desire to reunite with her parents, and her fetter has fully transferred to him. As Sanae is a powerful ghost who must continuously absorb vast amounts of Life Energy from her fetter in order to survive, this is a very bad thing for both parties.
  • I Will Wait for You: She's waiting in Room 106 for her parents to come home again. It's revealed that her family moved into her father's family house near a hospital to try cure her from leaking too much spiritual energy, which was was both the source of her manifestation and slowly killing her physical body (and by extension, her).
  • Inconsistent Coloring: Her purple hair got changed to light orange in later volumes of the light novels.
  • Item Caddy: As the Earth Peoples' weapons are conduits for the wielder's spiritual power, Sanae is capable of wielding them in normally impossible ways, bending the path of their projectiles or altering their energy to become nonlethal.
  • Mind over Matter: She can move objects in the air with telekinesis.
  • No-Sell: Later on, she becomes immune to Koutarou's "Safe Family" Charm since he considers her as family.
  • Non-Uniform Uniform: Her Satomi Knights uniform has an extended tunic rather than a separate skirt.
  • Older Than She Looks: Being a ghost whose appearance hasn't changed since her death, she still looks like an elementary school student. She's actually around the same age as the other protagonists.
  • Power Glow: Discussed as an indication of just how much spiritual energy she has to spare.
  • Psychic Powers: Sanae is established early on to be unusually powerful and stable for a ghost. It's later revealed that her telekinesis, Aura Vision and other powers are actually something she always had, and becoming a ghost simply helped her learn how to use them properly.
  • Signature Headgear: She wears a hair ribbon with her "ghost" symbol attached on it.
  • Super-Empowering: After a while of Sanae possessing Koutarou in order to share his sense of taste, they become compatible enough that Sanae can return the favour by lending him her Aura Vision. Still later she figures out how to set up "spiritual circuitry" in Koutarou's body which can function to some degree even when she's not present - this includes a lesser version of Aura Vision, as well as a form of Super-Reflexes (letting him bypass his nervous system and transmit signals around his body instantly).
  • Superpower Lottery: While she lacks any reality-warping abilities, her spiritual energy after merging with herself is compared to a minor god's. To give indication, she can output so much spiritual energy that she glows in everyone's sight just for fun; mind you, this breaks the laws of physics.
  • Tears of Joy: She cries out of happiness when she realizes Koutarou's "Safe Family" Charm recognizes her as his family.
  • Token Mini-Moe: She's canonically the smallest invader since she's described as looking like she is in elementary school although her physical body is much older.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Koutarou. They bicker like siblings, but that just serves to show how well they get along.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: Due to being a ghost, sacred objects and charms hurt her. She loses this weakness entirely after she is able to merge back with her body.

    Yurika Nijino (Rainbow Yurika)

Yurika Nijino

Voiced by: Nichika Omori

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yurika_nijino_6.png

A powerful "Magical Girl of Love and Courage" who intends to claim Room 106 to defend it from Dark Magical Girls, who would use the vast ancient Mana it contains for evil. However, with her meek, clumsy personality and inability to prove anything she's saying (she swore an oath against using magic for personal reasons), the other inhabitants of Room 106 initially refuse to believe her, taking her for just a dedicated cosplayer.

See Invaders of the Rokujyouma – Folsaria for general tropes related to Rainbow Heart and Folsarians.

  • Apologizes a Lot: She's very apologetic about her clumsiness.
  • The Archmage: It's easy to forget, but in Folsaria, she holds the highly prestigious title of Archmage (being the current "Blue" of Rainbow Heart).
  • Area of Effect: Many of her spells affect wide areas, and she can add explicit modifiers like "Effective Area: Colossal" to make them wider.
  • Ascended Fangirl: She's a big fan of Magical Girl shows and Shoujo manga. And no, she can't properly act as the former.
  • Bad Powers, Good People: While not her only spells, Yurika's most efficient combat options revolve around wide-area poison and decay, backed up with illusions to spread fear and confusion among opponents. She absolutely hates this, considering it completely off-brand for the kind of heroic Magical Girl she's trying to be.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: She adores Harumi because she's the only person to treat her kindly and believe in her Magical Girl powers.
  • Beneath Suspicion: Played for Laughs in book 34. After yet another of Yurika's part-time jobs gets shut down for illegal activities, the police take one look at Yurika, decide that no one would ever trust her with something illegal, and let her go. This actually upsets Yurika more than losing her job does.
  • Book Dumb: Regarding school, the speed with which she improves under Koutarou's Training from Hell suggests she may just be uneducated. Kiriha suggests that it is a result of lack of focus.
  • Butt-Monkey: Poor Yurika never catches a break. She constantly messes up her tasks because of her clumsiness, no one takes her claims of being a Magical Girl seriously and is treated like a nuisance more than any of the other invaders.
  • The Cassandra: Despite her claims and evidence of her being a true Magical Girl, her roommates keep brushing her off as a cosplayer who's way into her role.
  • Cowardly Lion: She's quick to run and hide rather than fight what she's afraid of, but when she gathers courage, she's nearly invincible.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: She's always tripping and crashing into places, such as when she accidentally breaks the window during her intro.
  • Destructive Saviour: She's broke because most of her Magical Girl salary goes to paying back the destruction she causes.
  • Drama-Preserving Handicap: Lampshaded in the afterword of volume 19 - the reason Yurika has low self-confidence and an oath against using magic for personal gain is because her powers would have utterly broken the story at the point she was introduced. By the time she can show her full strength openly, the other characters have received a Next Tier Power-Up which help them keep up and the problems have gotten bigger than she can solve on her own.
  • The Eeyore: Downplayed, but she's the most pessimistic out of all the main characters, especially when it comes to her poverty.
  • Establishing Character Moment: She first appears by smashing through a window with her (flying) broom crying, and crashing, resulting in some Amusing Injuries. She later introduces herself nervously and nobody believes she's a magical girl. All that's missing now is her Big Eater tendencies.
  • Fusion Dance: One of the available spells under Orange magic. Oddly enough, when she fuses with other invaders, they manifest the Goddess of Dawn rather than a person with traits from the fusees.
  • The Gadfly: Tries to be this when she rarely one-ups Koutarou. Keyword: tries.
  • Genius Ditz: She is legitimately very, very, very good at magic (volume 19 suggesting that she reached the rank of archmage faster than anyone in history), just a wreck at everything else.
  • The Gift: Reaching the rank of "Rainbow" would normally take about five years of training, but Yurika is so gifted and driven to follow in Rainbow Nana's footsteps that she went from Muggle to The Archmage in only one year.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She wears her hair in long twin tails, emphasizing how clumsy and inexperienced she is.
  • The Greatest Story Never Told: Yurika suffers from this a great deal. On numerous occasions, her use of magic helps to save the day, such as saving Sanae from the army of ghosts feeding on her, or containing the explosion that was set off when the Subterranean invaders chose to self-destruct rather than face punishment. But circustances always conspire to keep the others in the dark of her contributions, and after a certain point, she just stops trying to convince them that she was involved at all.
  • Grew a Spine: As the story proceeds, she gains more confidence in herself and can make better use of her talents.
  • Her Own Worst Enemy: She has extraordinary magic power, but her clumsiness and lack of self-confidence make her very inept. Nana claims that the only place left for Yurika to grow is her strength of heart, and on the day she achieves that, she'll go down as the greatest wizard in history.
  • Irony: Magical Girl Rainbow Yurika, princess of love and courage, is insecure and apologetic and has developed a specialty in poison gas and acid cloud attacks, much to her dismay.
  • Knockout Gas: One of her most effective combat tactics is summoning clouds of poison gas to disable opponents.
  • Legacy Character: Yurika was a friend and supporter of the original Magical Girl, Rainbow Nana. She had to take up Nana's role after she lost her powers protecting Yurika from an ambush by Darkness Rainbow a month prior to the start of the series, which explains a lot of her apparent unsuitability for the job.
  • Meaningful Name: Nijino means of Rainbow; she literally just translated her Folsarian name into Japanese.
  • Pretty Freeloader: Aside from Koutaro (and Sanae), she's also staying in Room 106 but he's the one taking care of her. That aside, she's adorably klutzy.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The situation is the Folsaria Arc was bad enough that her comic-relief klutziness is not happening. All the main characters take note of it.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl: She complains her magical girl outfit doesn't hide her butt or breasts very well, but her superiors force her to wear said outfit.
  • Shipper on Deck: She supports Harumi x Koutarou, but she wouldn't mind including herself with them.
  • Shrinking Violet: Deeply, deeply insecure, which affects her magic and makes others think she just a cosplayer. Her Character Development is her overcoming this.
  • Stock Shoujo Heroine: She exemplifies the traits of a stereotypical shoujo protagonist; a pigtailed Magical Girl of "Love and Courage" who is super clumsy, whiny, big eating, and Book Dumb.
  • Stripperific: Her Magical Girl outfit isn't that revealing, but after being tossed out of Room 106, she breaks down in tears and sobs that her outfit "doesn't cover [her] chest or butt all the way, but the Magical Land says [she] has to wear it proudly". The Uniform like her Staff belonged to her predecessor and teacher Rainbow Nana who was both shorter and "smaller" than Yurika.
    • Her second outfit is even more revealing.
  • Superhero Origin: Very little is known about her life before Rainbow Nana rescued her from a demon attack. The fact that she was born in Japan is not confirmed until Volume 21; other than a few few background details (e.g. mentions of schooling and an interest in manga prior to her rescue), she is treated as more of Folsarian than terrestrial origin. Unlike the other Invaders, her parents and family background have never been discussed, and she has had no known contact with her pre-Invasion life other than Rainbow Nana and the rest of Rainbow Heart.
  • Taking the Bullet: Does this in episode 8, intercepting a spell cast by her rival Maki that was intended for Harumi. She ends up apparently paralyzed by the spell, and falls straight down after getting hit by the spell.
  • Token Wizard: Among the initial invaders, only Yurika can use magic instead of spiritual energy or advanced alien technology. Ironically, her roommates don't believe in her powers because they think magic is a bit too absurd even for their Fantasy Kitchen Sink.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Noodles
  • Transformation Sequence: In episode 3 of the Animated Adaptation right before trying to heal Harumi.
  • Well-Trained, but Inexperienced: She claims to be "Magical Girl Rainbow Yurika", sent from an otherworldly kingdom to defend Room 106 from evildoers... but she never displays any magic, and is timid, lazy and generally incompetent enough to become the Butt-Monkey. However, when she's not restricted by her land's Prime Directive she proves herself to be a Strong and Skilled Cowardly Lion with a knack for elaborate Wizard Duels.

    Kiriha Kurano

Kiriha Kurano

Voiced by: Masumi Tazawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kiriha_kurano_9.png

Daughter of the Kurano clan, the current leaders of a Jōmon-esque society dwelling Beneath the Earth. Her people are masters of Spiritual Energy technology, and seek to reclaim their old ritual site at Room 106 in order to build powerful weapons with which to conquer the surface. Kiriha is by far the most intelligent member of the main group, but she always seems to fall one step short of actually claiming the room for herself, almost as if she's dragging things out on purpose...

See Invaders of the Rokujyouma – People of the Earth for general tropes related to her people.

  • The Ace: She plays the perfect student to a T when she’s at school.
  • The Chief's Daughter: The daughter of the chief of the Underground Dweller.
  • Emotional Regression: After finding out Koutarou is the man whom she met 10 years ago, she can shift from the 'mature Kiriha' to the 'child Kii'.
  • The Gadfly: She loves teasing people using her intellect, especially Koutarou.
  • Going Native: She mentions to Koutarou about her plan to invade the surface via peaceful methods, such as helping people out with cleaning.
  • Helpless Observer Protagonist: After Maya kidnaps the 6-year-old Kii, the time-travelling Koutarou has to choose between rescuing her and attempting to prevent the accident that killed his mother. They arrive together back at the scene to find the ambulance crew covering his mother's body, and a six-year-old Koutarou numbly holding her knitting bag and half-knitted sweater.
  • Hime Cut: She has parted bangs, chin-length sidelocks, and ankle-length straight hair. This goes along with her Miko attire and Yamato Nadeshiko traits.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: Koutarou soon realises that Kiriha is smart enough that she could have taken over Room 106 long ago, but is deliberately holding back to keep the invasion going and the radical faction from moving.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: She goes into her invasion fully aware that her First Love is most likely with someone else and living his own life happily after ten years. She just wants to make sure of that and bring that chapter of her life to a close.
  • I Will Find You: She wants to meet her first love again. She's primarily holding back the invasion to give herself a chance to find him again and give herself some closure. She later finds out she never needed to look from the start because Koutarou is her first love.
  • Inconsistent Coloring: Her hair color is sometimes inconsistent in colored illustrations. The first volume has her with dark blue hair, but then sometimes it's dark brown, and even sometimes a more purplish tint. The anime goes for black hair with a bluish tint.
  • Miko: She dresses like a Japanese shrine maiden and comes from a clan that's mastered oracles and incantations.
  • Naginatas Are Feminine: While she's one of the weaker members of the cast and mostly relies on her haniwas to fight for her, in bigger fights she'll pull out a spiritually-enhanced naginata and join the fray herself.
  • Precocious Crush: Ten years ago, she fell in love with a boy more than twice her age. In Volume 10, she finds out that the boy in question was a time-travelling Koutaro, meaning the age gap is gone, and she actually has a real chance with him.
  • Secret-Keeper: In book 30, it's revealed that after the events of the previous book, Kiriha received a letter from herself explaining that everyone had recently agreed to erase something from their memories, and appointed Kiriha to ensure they don't look too deeply into any of the inconsistencies that might arise. This included sealed instructions for how to undo the process in case of emergency.
  • Sex for Services: Kiriha attempts using her body to "persuade" Koutarou when he rejects her gold offer to leave the room. She then asks him how long he's able to resist, since her people have been underground for a long time. Fortunately Theiamillis showing up provides a convenient distraction.
  • She Is All Grown Up: Compare the child Kii to the current Kiriha. Even Koutarou couldn't tell "Kii" was her and lampshades this.
    • The accumulated evidence is such that Koutarou is literally in the middle of asking Kii if she is Kiriha when he sees the date and realizes that the accident that will kill his mother is imminent.
  • The Strategist: The smartest member of the group, but also the one with the lowest personal fighting power. As the series becomes more action-oriented Kiriha increasingly finds herself in command, particularly when the heroes work alongside groups of weaker combatants. She's notoriously good at it, to the point of successfully outmaneuvering enemies who can see into the future on more than one occasion by using simple common sense.
  • Take Over the World: She wants to take control of Room 106 so her people can invade and conquer the surface. Ultimately subverted, as she really wants her people to live peacefully with the surface world. Unfortunately there's a faction of underworlders that really does wish for conquest - Kiriha's token invasion was merely a political maneuver intended to reduce their influence.
  • The Tease: She presses her large breasts against Koutarou's arm to see if that'll convince him to let her people invade the surface. Since she really wants him to decline, she's just screwing with him.
  • Third-Person Person: She calls herself 'Kii' as a child. Even as an adult when she acts as Kii.
  • Time-Travel Romance: Her first love's true identity is Koutarou who travels to the past and meets child Kiriha without knowing it's her.
  • Wacky Marriage Proposal: Not really marriage, but she makes Koutarou choose between "(Kiriha) invading his life" (which he lampshades sounds like marriage) or "never seeing (Kiriha) again" in the end of Volume 17. Of course, he picked the former.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: While Kiriha doesn't fit every element of the trope - among other things, being the most voluptuous Invader - she has elegance and style, she's the perfect housewife, and she harbors Silk Hiding Steel while agonizing over the necessity. While some of these are due to her Ojou tendancies as The Chief's Daughter, in others she has been consciously training herself from the age of six to be whatever her First Love needs, if she can find him. See spoiler under Helpless Observer Protagonist to understand why.

    Princess Theiamillis Gre Fortorthe

Theiamillis Gre Mastir Sagurada von Forthorthe

Voiced by: Maria Naganawa

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/theiamillis_gre_fortorthe_0.png

Seventh princess of the Holy Forthorthe Galactic Empire, about two Forthorthian years younger than Koutarou. As the daughter of its current empress, she has a strong claim to the throne, but each candidate is traditionally assigned a simple trial and ranked on how quickly they complete it. For the Mastir family to which Theia belongs, her trial requires her to travel to a randomly-determined area of space and have its inhabitants swear allegiance to her. Normally this is a mere formality, with said territory being an uninhabited region of deep space, but for some reason Theia's coordinates led her right to Room 106. A coincidence so unlikely that it's almost as if the princess was being set up...

See Invaders of the Rokujyouma!? – Forthorthe for general tropes related to Forthorthians.

  • Ace Custom: In book 30 she modifies one of Ruth's Attack Drones for her personal use, giving it a more ornamental appearance evoking a red-and-gold knight.
  • A-Cup Angst: She's a bit touchy about her small breast size. It doesn't help all the other invaders have bigger breasts than her.
  • Ace Pilot: Famous in Forthorte for her crack-shot aim and her outstanding record in simulated dogfights, having already surpassed her own mentor.
  • Alien Princess: She's the princess of a galactic empire, and has access to super advanced alien technology. She also owns a ridiculously wealthy private spaceship.
  • Antiquated Linguistics: Speaks in this manner, using the archaic, feminine "warawa" to refer to herself.
  • Ascended Fangirl: She's a big fangirl of the legendary Blue Knight, to the point that her spaceship and battle armor are named after him. Later on, she finds out Koutarou, who she made her personal knight, is the real Blue Knight in the flesh.
  • Battle Ballgown: In volume 16, she completes the "Combat Dress" - a kind of high-tech harness with a big poofy skirt, which both allows her to fly and provides hardpoints that let her wield multiple summoned weapons at once.
  • Benevolent Boss: She treats Ruth like her close friend instead of a servant. Justified, as they have been friends since childhood.
  • Calling Me a Logarithm: Being an alien, Theia doesn't know what tulips are and misinterprets it as an insult when Koutarou calls her one. Once she sees actual tulips, she comes to like the nickname and sometimes makes Koutarou use it.
  • Catchphrase Insult: She likes to call Koutarou "Neanderthal."
  • Character Development: During her stay on Earth, she goes from a selfish Royal Brat princess who wants to capture the rokujouma and make the others in Room 106 swear loyalty to her (albeit not without reason) to a proper princess capable of being a suitable empress that looks out for her friends. Everyone, even Theia herself, lampshades this.
  • Childhood Friends: She and Ruth have been together since childhood and are like sisters to each other.
  • Compliment Backfire: She doesn't like being called "Tulip" at first because, being an alien, she didn't even know what tulips are and just assumed it was an insult. After she sees tulips, she takes a liking to her nickname.
  • Cute Little Fangs: In the anime, she has a fang sticking out quite frequently, usually when she's about to put the beat down on someone.
  • Deflector Shields: Wears a personal barrier generator which works well against conventional weapons, but offers little defence against spiritual energy attacks like those used by Sanae and Kiriha.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She warms up considerably towards Koutarou after the Blue Knight play.
  • The Dividual: A Syndividual type with Ruth; they come as a pair and their opposite tempers balance each other out. Both of them form the "alien haremette" in Koutarou's harem. The two also embody the same aspect of the goddess.
  • Gamer Chick: Her thesis, back on Forthorthe, was on the ancient history of video games and she is the most likely person to be seen actually playing them.
  • Goofy Print Underwear: She wears teddy bear panties.
  • Gratuitous English: Her Blue Knight, as well as her fan club in episode 3, makes notable use of this trope by using a lot of English in their dialogue, such as "Hail to the Princess!". That said, the language is still new to her without her translation device.
  • Identical Granddaughter: Well, identical descendant of Princess Alaia's little sister Charl. Foreshadowed by Theia playing the role of Charl in the Blue Knight play.
  • In-Series Nickname: She's called "Theia" for short. Also, Koutarou calls her "Tulip" in reference to when Sanae flipped Theia's long skirt to put her in an embarrassing restraint position.
  • Lady and Knight: She privately grants Koutarou the title of her Blue Knight because his bravery and strength are identical to those of the legendary knight who is Theia's idol.
  • Multiform Balance: Her Combat Dress, introduced in volume 16, can have weapons docked to it in a number of preset configurations, five of which have been introduced so far:
  • The Napoleon: She's the shortest of the invaders and the one with the shortest fuse.
  • Noblewoman's Laugh: Theia has a habit of laughing in this manner to belittle others or show off her own greatness.
  • Odd Name, Normal Nickname: Her alien name Theiamillis is shortened to "Theia".
  • Overly Long Name: Her full name is Theiamillis Gre Mastir Sagurada von Forthorthe.
  • Powered Armor: Her "Combat Dress" introduced in volume 16 is a minimalist one focused less on defence (which is already covered by her personal barrier) and more on providing mobility (via a Jet Pack) and firepower (via antigravity hardpoints for her weapons), with the whole thing being compared to a wearable fighter jet.
  • Pretty Princess Powerhouse: She's the princess of a galactic empire capable of beating up the Chearleading Club, wielder of a BFG, and owner of a 1 kilometer long Giant Robot Spaceship. She's also a really good pilot and combat commander, famous for taking the vanguard position.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The bossy and short-tempered Red Oni to Ruth's calm and sensible Blue Oni.
  • Royal Brat: She starts off as a haughty and arrogant princess. She gets better later on.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: She's willing to go on the frontline on a battlefield, and more than capable of backing herself up.
  • Small Girl, Big Gun: At the start of the series her fighting style consists mostly of summoning in a giant gun from her ship. While powerful, most of these weapons are cumbersome enough to reduce her to a living Sentry Gun, and she can't switch between them quickly. Later on she develops the Combat Dress to compensate for this weakness.
  • Super Wrist-Gadget: Wears a computer on her wrist which she uses to communicate with her ship.
  • Tears of Joy: She cries in relief after she finds out that Forthorthians are fertile with Earthlings.
  • Tiny Tyrannical Girl: She's introduced as a small Royal Brat Alien Princess who immediately demands Koutarou to obey her so she can claim control over his apartment room. As the series progresses, she mostly acts this way toward Koutarou as a joke and sign of affection.
  • Token Mini-Moe: She's short and flat-chested. Only Sanae is smaller than her and it turns out Sanae has an older physical body so Theia is officially the smallest invader.
  • Tsundere: Harsh Type. She's very harsh and haughty towards Koutarou when they first meet, but since the Blue Knight play, she's becoming quite open in declaring her attraction to him.
  • Uptown Girl: Theiamillis, as the princess of a galactic empire, angsts about the political implications of making some nobody teenager from a backwater planet with no diplomatic relations to Forthorthe her husband.
    • Then she finds out that Koutarou is Forthorthe's historical savior, the Blue Knight, and worries if she is good enough for him.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: While they're not dating, Theia is more than willing to use her ship's Wave-Motion Gun on Maki for hurting Koutarou while he was fighting the latter with Yurika. Fortunately, Shizuka stops that and punches Maki for messing up her apartment. She also protects him when Tayuma, one of Kiriha's people, attempts to invade the surface on his own.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: As everyone lampshades, Theia and Koutarou's roughhousing is their way of displaying affection to one another.
  • The Von Trope Family: She's an Alien Princess with the royal family name of von Forthorthe.

Ruthkhania Nye Pardomshiha

Voiced by: Saori Hayami

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ruthkhania_nye_pardomshiha_4.png

Theia's assistant and Childhood Friend, a Guardian Knight from the Pardomshiha family. "Ruth" to her friends.

See Invaders of the Rokujyouma!? – Forthorthe for general tropes related to Forthorthians.

  • Attack Drones: In some fights, she backs up her swordplay by micromanaging a group of drones from the Blue Knight. Volume 24 has Clan explain that she is incredibly good at this, to the point where she can manually perform complex maneuvers that would normally require custom programming (including combining their shots to strike targets beyond the weapons' normal maximum range).
  • Battle Butler: She might be serving Theia as a servant, but she's still a knight. When not in battle, she's the maid/servant type.
  • Berserk Button: Because of one incident in which Koutarou made Ruth think he prefers rhinoceros beetles over her, Ruth absolutely hates the insect. She goes mad with rage if she's sees one, even if it's a beetle-themed superhero.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's calm, gentle and understanding. Just keep rhinoceros beetles away from her, she'll enter an Unstoppable Rage if she sees one.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: She's guarding Theia, who can kick ass.
  • Childhood Friends: She has been Theia's closest friend and confidant since childhood.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: She's fine with Koutarou being with Theia, but tends to get easily jealous at the thought that Koutarou may pick someone else. It's Played for Laughs in the case of rhinoceros beetles; Ruth will fly into a rage at the mere sight of one because she thinks Koutarou likes them more than her.
  • The Conscience: She's Theia's voice of reason and often keeps her from taking her bratty behavior too far. Koutarou mentions it would be a lot harder for him to deal with Theia if Ruth wasn't there to regulate the princess.
  • Curtains Match the Window: She has blue hair and matching blue eyes.
  • The Dividual: A Syndividual type with Theia; they come as a pair and their opposite tempers balance each other out. Both of them form the "alien haremette" in Koutarou's harem. The two also embody the same aspect of the goddess.
  • The Dreaded: Her rhinoceros beetle-crazed mode is feared by everyone who see it. Even robots who are supposed to be simple, mindless automatons instinctively step back in fear.
  • Dual Wielding: She can wield her swords as this.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Sometime before the group travels to Forthorthe, she changes her hairstyle to resemble that of her ancestor Flair's.
  • Faux Action Girl: Despite Ruth being Theia's knight, complete with sword and shield, she is only an average combatant who relies more on her equipment than personal skill. In fact, Theia is both more athletic and more skilled with a sword than she is, even if she rarely gets to show it off. However, Ruth takes notice of this and starts sparring with the other invaders, after which her skill improves by leaps and bounds.
  • Fragile Speedster: This is her swordsmanship which she adapted from her ancestor, Flair; quick and swift strikes using her Laser Blade in exchange of great defense.
  • Girl Friday: Introduced as Theia's assistant, she ends up becoming the Satomi Knights' logistics expert for both battlefield and household matters. In book 34 Ralgwin tries to assassinate her for this, believing that while she's not quite the brains of the group, she could well be its nervous system.
  • Hired Help as Family: She's Theia's guard and servant, but the princess considers Ruth as her trusted confidant and Best Friend. It helps they have known each other nearly their entire lives.
  • In-Series Nickname: She's called "Ruth" for short.
  • Item Caddy: Noted for her great sense at "managing" things, which includes multitasking and making the most of complex/versatile equipment. When she returns to Forthorte in volume 24, her father is awed by how far she's managed to take these talents beyond their previous Mundane Utility.
  • Knightly Sword and Shield: Initially uses a sword and shield to fit her image as a knight, packed with advanced technology to the point where they practically do the fighting for her. She discards them in later books, realising that she's more effective with unconventional weapons like Laser Blades and Attack Drones.
  • Laser Blade: Takes to wielding them after she starts training with Koutarou, which proves to fit her fighting style better than the heavy blades she previously used.
    • As a bonus, the laser blades she uses are the pair that Clan loaned to her distant ancestress Flairian for the final battle with the coup d'etat forces in Ancient Forthorthe.
  • Legacy of Service: She hails from a long line of knights that have served the Royal Family of Fortorthe for ages.
  • Male Might, Female Finesse: In swordsmanship, her quick and swift style using her Laser Blade contrasts Koutarou's Dual Wielding.
  • Nice Girl: Possibly the nicest and calmest of Koutarou's invader roommates. That is, unless rhinoceros beetles are involved...
  • Odd Name, Normal Nickname: Similar to Theia, her alien name Ruthkhania is shortened to "Ruth".
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The calm and sensible Blue Oni to Theia's bossy and short-tempered Red Oni.
  • Secret-Keeper: After finding out that Koutarou is the legendary Blue Knight, he convinces her not to tell Theia, as it would definitely affect her judgement.
  • Super Wrist-Gadget: Wears one of the same model as Theia's, though she uses it less often.
  • Support Party Member: She's part of the Intelligence group alongside Kiriha and Clan. Her specialty is in data gathering, which is essential to Kiriha's strategies, and coordination and management of goods, personnel, and information.
  • Tears of Joy: She sheds these after knowing that Koutarou's the Blue Knight.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After continuously sparring with post-Blue Knight Koutarou, her fighting ability improves and when she's beetle-crazed, she might be better than the person who literally fought in a war as a knight.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Whenever she sees a rhinoceros beetle (or just someone dressed like one), she loses all sense of reason and becomes a beetle destroyer who goes into a frenzy until she annihilates the insect. In this state, she demonstrates an amazing fighting power comparable to the martial artist Shizuka. When she regains her senses, Ruth loses her memory of her rampage.
    • An arguable Crowining Moment of Awesome ensues during the final battle between the Invaders and the Earth People Rebel faction. The Rebels make the mistake of employing a squad of 36 supposedly intimidating rhinocerous beetle mecha. Ruth. By herself. Less than 10 seconds each.
  • Weak, but Skilled: Eventually settles into this niche once she trades in her heavy sword for weaker but more versatile Laser Blades.

    Harumi Sakuraba

Harumi Sakuraba

Voiced by: Megumi Takamoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/harumi_sakuraba.png

The well-mannered president of the school knitting club, and the only member other than Koutarou. Starting in book 4 she stars alongside Koutarou as Princess Alaia in Theia's play The Silver Princess and the Blue Knight.

  • Almost Kiss: Gives one to Koutarou while half-awake in Volume 30 (It Makes Sense in Context). She's very embarrassed by it.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Her health gets worse in Volumes 23-26 because of the side effect of being the Living Battery for the legendary sword of the Forthorthe empire, Signaltin.
  • Cherry Blossom Girl: Sakuraba, being a Delicate and Sickly Yamato Nadeshiko, is the girl Koutarou is most obviously attracted to at the beginning and is also connected to the theme of rebirth, being the reincarnation of the legendary romantic heroine of the Holy Forthorthe Empire.
  • Club President: She's the president of the knitting club and its only member until Koutarou joined.
  • Delicate and Sickly: She has fragile health and needs to go to the hospital for regular checkups.
  • Dude Magnet: Several male students confess to her and she gets many fanboys after the Blue Knight play.
  • Friend to All Children: She reads for the children at the hospital during her checkups.
  • The Heart: She's the most caring and empathetic girl in the group. When Koutarou does something that upsets one of the girls, Harumi gives him the tips needed for them to reconcile.
  • Irony: Alaia wished a normal life so she can love Koutarou as an equal and without politics being involved (i.e. Harumi's life), meanwhile Harumi wants to be more like Alaia due to her closeness with Koutarou.
  • Jumped at the Call: Alaia note  warns her that if she chooses to continue with what she is doing to support Koutarou and the Invaders she will never have a normal life again. She's just fine with that.
  • Lady and Knight: Many compare her relationship with Koutarou to a noble princess and her brave knight. It makes sense since Harumi is the Silver Princess reincarnated and Koutarou is the Blue Knight who served the princess after he traveled back in time.
  • Lady of War: Book 34 shows that she has inherited Alaia's training in Ancient Forthortian swordsmanship, allowing her to wield Signaltin in an elegant Magic Knight style. However, she only summons the sword herself when Koutarou doesn't need it, the rarity of which is Lampshaded in the afterword.
  • Magical Incantation: In contrast to Folsarian magic (where casters simply state the name of the spell), her Ancient Forthortian spells require her to first chant pleas for spirits to come to her aid. This makes her much more of a Squishy Wizard, but allows her to create new spells tailored to the situation.
  • Mark of the Supernatural: She has violet eyes, hinting she isn't a normal human because she's the reincarnation of a legendary alien princess and has special powers thanks to it.
  • Mutual Envy: The other invader girls are jealous of Harumi getting the "princess treatment" from Koutarou, while Harumi is jealous of the familiarity that Koutarou shows for the other girls.
  • Nice Girl: She's so nice that there's not a single drop of bad blood in her.
  • Non-Uniform Uniform: Her Satomi Knights uniform has a full-length jacket rather than a cropped one, dark shorts instead of the usual white skirt, and longer boots with no cuffs.
  • Ojou: It's implied that her family is rich, since they own a summer house near the beach.
  • Parasol of Prettiness: At the beach, she carries a frilly parasol to block off the sun.
  • Past-Life Memories: She eventually remembers her past life as Alaia up to when Koutarou and Signatin leave.
  • Power Dyes Your Hair: When she uses the Silver Princess' power, her hair turns to silver.
  • Powered Armor: In volume 15, Clan invents the PAF (Power Assistance Field) to help Harumi conserve her stamina - a belt-mounted device which uses a weak skintight forcefield to assist the wearer's movement. While no match for combat-grade equipment, it makes Harumi significantly stronger and offers protection from harsh environments (even being usable as a spacesuit), and its low power consumption means she can use it all day.
  • Raven Hair, Ivory Skin: She's a pretty girl with long black hair and white skin.
  • Reincarnation: She's the reincarnation of Princess Alaia.
  • Reincarnation Romance: She has loved Koutarou since she met him in her past life as Alaia.
  • Rescue Romance: The more mundane type. She develops feelings when Koutarou saves her from a student who tries to force her to date him and saves the Knitting society by joining it, which could've been disbanded since she was the only member. Being Alaia's reincarnation who was also saved by Koutarou helps.
  • Resurrection Sickness: She has a "reincarnation sickness" variation. It's revealed that she has poor health because half of her past life Alaia's soul is in the sword Signaltin. She later gets the other half and can probably live with a healthy body.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: She doesn't pay attention to all the other boys confessing to her because she only loves Koutarou.
  • Single Woman Seeks Good Man: It's Koutarou's Nice Guy attitude that made her fall for him.
  • Spell Blade: Book 34 shows that while wielding Signaltin, she is capable of discharging spells through its blade for more power, described as the way it was originally meant to be wielded.
  • Squishy Wizard: She uses Ancient Forthorthe magic, but lacks physical prowess. Justified since she has a chronic disease and her body’s not physically strong.
  • Textile Work Is Feminine: She's the most traditionally feminine girl in the group and fittingly, the president of the knitting club.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After accessing Alaia's power, she can use Ancient Forthorthe magic.
  • Unwitting Muggle Friend: Koutarou hides his daily life of weirdness from her until Volume 12.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: She's a kind, well-mannered and docile Japanese girl, but she's no pushover and can share bits of wisdom from time to time. She also has literally undying devotion to the man she loves.

    Shizuka Kasagi

Shizuka Kasagi

Voiced by: Aya Suzaki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shizuka_kasagi.png

The young landlady of Corona House as well as Koutarou's classmate.

  • Badass Normal: Even without using Alunaya's power, she's still a master martial artist that can kick your ass if you ever make her angry.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: She has been training in karate as a way to deal with the loss of her parents.
  • Berserk Button: Any time damage is done to Room 106 or any other part of her building, someone is getting a beatdown. Seriously, don't try to damage it.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: She's a Nice Girl, but don't try to mess with her and her apartment building.
  • Birds of a Feather: She and Koutarou have very similar circumstances. They had both lost family, fought against outsiders to protect their place but are now trying to protect them. They're also given powers by others but outside having a combat talent note , they're still normal everyday Earthlings.
  • The Big Girl: She's physically the strongest of the team. And she gets even stronger with Alunaya's help.
  • Cranky Landlady: Downplayed. She's friendly and gets along with her tenants, but if Koutarou and the invaders damage her apartment building, she'll beat the living daylights out of them.
  • Cute Bruiser: She's a teenage girl who kicks just as much ass as the rest of the supernatural Battle Harem while relying only on her martial arts training.
  • Cute Monster Girl: When using Alunaya's power, Shizuka gains dragon features like a horn, wings, a tail, fangs and claws. Yet, she still looks cute.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: With just her martial arts, she's already a force to be reckoned with. Add a half-dragon transformation and she's basically unstoppable.
  • The Gadfly: Very low key, third biggest tease after Kiriha and Sanae.
  • Horned Humanoid: In her half-dragon form, a large horn grows from her forehead.
  • Improbable Age: She's a landlady despite being only sixteen, the same age as her tenant Koutarou.
  • Jumped at the Call: Alunaya asks her if she wants to be stronger, he can grant her (his) strength, but she'll give up her normal life. She accepts, since Koutarou and the others aren't normal anyway, so she can be strong like them and they'll still accept her.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: At first, she doesn't know Alunaya is inside her. She finds out in volume 14.
  • Partial Transformation: As a result of being the host of a dragon, Shizuka can transform into a human/dragon hybrid.
  • Power Gives You Wings: By invoking Alunaya's power, Shizuka grows dragon wings.
  • Powers via Possession: Alunaya, the dragon inside her, is the source of Shizuka's immense strength. Later on, she becomes able to transform into a half-dragon.
  • Strong and Skilled: She has the strength to take down four invaders with the skill of a martial artist. Then Alunaya hands her control during his full dragon mode.
  • Symbiotic Possession: She's the current host of Alunaya, the dragon that Koutarou saved 2000 years ago. While initially unaware of it, Shizuka gets along with Alunaya once she accepts his powers as her own.
  • Tomboyish Ponytail: Downplayed since she isn't actually a tomboy despite her ponytail hairstyle, but she is a martial artist and physically the strongest out of the protagonists.
  • Weight Woe: The more of Alunaya's power she depletes, the heavier she becomesnote . Even knowing it's not really her weight, it still makes her uncomfortable.
  • Willing Channeler: She accepts the role of Alunaya's host to gain more power and fight alongside her tenants. On occasion, she temporarily lets Alunaya control her body directly so that he can communicate more easily.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/clariossa_daora_forthorthe_9.png

The princess from the Schweiger family, second princess of Forthorthe and Theia's rival.

See Invaders of the Rokujyouma!? – Forthorthe for general tropes related to Forthorthians.

  • Alien Princess: The second one to appear in the series, and the second one with access to technology far beyond that of Earth.
  • Chainsaw-Grip BFG: Her most commonly-used weapon is one of these, in contrast to Theia's (which tend to have conventional grips or float independently).
  • Character Development: After travelling with Alaia, she realizes how immature she was and starts working to try and become an empress similar or better than her.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: There was no mention of a servant of the Blue Knight in their legend. While she's initially miffed that her accomplishments were ignored, after realizing Koutarou is the Blue Knight she puts up with it.
    • This is also partially tied to the fact that her contributions revolved around future Forthorthian technology, most notably her development of a genetic-based cure to the virus used in the "poison water supply" incident, and a need to minimize anachronisms that someone might eventually use to deduce that the Blue Knight could be a time traveler.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: When she attacks a play based on the Blue Knight, she ends up launching Koutarou and herself into ancient Forthorthe. While there, she ends up working with him to keep history on the right track, and eventually, bonds with him.
  • Forgets to Eat: She's prone to losing herself in her research and skipping proper meals.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: In her introduction, she constructs a Wave-Motion Gun out of Earth parts so that it can't implicate her when she attacks Theia. After her Heel–Face Turn she invents a handful of other gadgets, including Harumi's Power Assistance Field.
  • Goofy Print Underwear: She wears kitten-print panties.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She later befriends Koutaro after both of them traveled back to the past. Later on, she befriends the girls of Room 106, without them holding any grudge
  • Hime Cut: She's a princess with blunt bangs, cheek-length sidelocks, and waist-length straight hair.
  • In-Series Nickname: "Clan".
  • It's Personal: In an inversion of the ususal trope, Clan apologies to Kiriha for attempting to kill her before the trip through time after meeting and becoming fond of Kii-chan.
  • Our Weapons Will Be Boxy in the Future: Played with. She wields a blocky-looking BFG more advanced than anything on Earth, but it was intentionally built from only Earth parts, with most Forthortian weapons being far more sleek.
  • Overly Long Name: Her full name is Clariossa Daora Schweiger Meltsfen Foa Forthorthe.
  • Playful Hacker: Thanks to being a Gadgeteer Genius, hacking is a secondary ability to her.
  • Princeling Rivalry: She makes her entrance trying to disrupt Theia's claim to the throne so that she can take it for herself. After Character Development, she decides that she has a long way to go before she's qualified for the position, and that Theia is currently a better candidate than she is. However, for political reasons she ensures that the public still believe her and the Mastir family to be enemies (among other things, this leaves her free to act while their known allies are being watched).
  • The Rival: To Theia. Clan is from the Schwieger family which is philosophically and politically opposed to the Mastir family from which Theia and her mother come. As preference for selecting the next Empress of Forthorthe is based on the order in which the eligible Princesses complete their qualification trials, Clan of course shows up in hopes of disrupting Theia's trial while she waits for the conditions necessary to finish her own. They later have a more friendly term.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When she was still trying to kill Koutarou, she encounters Alaia-possessed Harumi protecting them. And facing an unknown enemy note  that's starting a counterattack, she retreats until she finds another opportunity
  • Smart People Wear Glasses: She's the only invader to wear glasses and is the scientific genius of the group.
  • Some Call Me "Tim": Because her alien full name is too long, she's simply called "Clan".
  • Stealth Expert: Her ship Hazy Moon boasts cutting-edge stealth technology of her own design, allowing it to perform missions which Theia's Blue Knight can't.
  • Super Wrist-Gadget: Wears one similar to Theia's.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: After being sent back in time to the ancient Forthorthe, Clan begins to mature as she starts thinking more about the safety and happiness of the people. She has also become kinder and friendlier in general.
  • Tsundere: Harsh type. She's a prideful and arrogant princess, but grows fond of Koutarou as they become closer. She can still lose her temper easily around him, usually because of Koutarou teasing her or ignoring her feelings.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: This is how Alaia and her companions view her relation with Koutarou since while the two of them are formal with them, from their perspective they are very open to each other. This correct since Clan admits that Koutarou is one of the few who truly understands her and despite teasing her, he cares a lot for her.

    Maki Aika (Dark Navy)

Maki Aika

Voiced by: Akari Kitou

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aika_maki.png

A Dark Magical Girl affiliated with Darkness Rainbow, and an adversary of Yurika's. A specialist in mind-manipulating Indigo magic.

See Invaders of the Rokujyouma – Folsaria for general tropes related to Darkness Rainbow and other Folsarians.

  • All Witches Have Cats: Around book 30 (and more prominently in a What If? drama CD), she picks up an abandoned cat named Snoozy. The group acknowledge how appropriate a pet this is for someone like Maki, affectionately calling him her familiar.
  • Broken Bird: She has severe trust issues due to her troubled childhood.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: The previous Dark Navy bought Maki as a slave when the latter was a child. Before that, she suffered horribly at the hands of her dealer and was betrayed by a friend when she tried to escape.
  • Dark Magical Girl: She's a Magical Girl affiliated with Darkness Rainbow, making her an Evil Counterpart to Yurika, although Maki is emotionally scarred rather than purely evil. Eventually, however, she makes a Heel–Face Turn thanks to The Power of Love.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: She starts as cold, distrustful and callous. Thanks to Koutarou, she becomes more cheerful and friendlier.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Yurika. Maki is also a Magical Girl and has many of Yurika's abilities, but Maki works for Darkness Rainbow and is willing to use her magic to hurt people.
  • Flying Broomstick: Book 36 shows that she can use her staff like this.
  • Good Costume Switch: She uses the Satomi Knights team uniform as a replacement for her Darkness Rainbow one, meaning that she likely wears it more often than anyone else on the team.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She later leaves the Darkness Rainbow, and changes side to Room 106/Satomi Knights. Still later, she joins Yurika as a member of the Blue Tower of Rainbow Heart.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: Not apparent in the anime, but established in the novels that she has absolutely no inhibitions about stripping in front of Koutarou. So far, everyone has successfully stopped her from actually undressing and she's only tried when someone else has said something to make her think it's what she's supposed to do right that moment.
  • Insecure Love Interest: She lacks confidence on herself and doesn't want Koutarou to see the (both figurative and literal) scars of her past. He snaps her out of this.
  • Laser Blade: A magical version; she can make one at the top of her staff.
  • Made a Slave: She was sold into slavery at a young age.
  • Mind Control: Her specialty in magic, along with being a Master of Illusion.
  • The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: When she's considered for recruitment to Rainbow Heart in book 36, it's revealed that she conveniently has no criminal record, since capturing Room 106 was her first real mission as part of Darkness Rainbow.
  • Rescue Romance: She starts developing feelings for Koutarou after he saves her from almost dying from a demon.
  • Smoke Out: She disappears into a cloud of smoke a couple of times to escape from battles she's losing.
  • Stealth Expert: One of the most talented of the group at infiltration, even when not using magic.
  • Two First Names: Her surname Aika is a valid feminine given name in Japan.
  • What Is This Feeling?: When she starts falling for Koutarou. She first though it was the effect of their contract, but even after severing it, she still has it. It’s clear that she fell for him.
  • Will Not Tell a Lie: She won't tell lies because she hates them.

The First and Last Invader (SPOILERS)

Nalfa Laren

Voiced by: Sumi Shimamoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/goddess_of_dawn.png

The creator of the universe. Known on Forthorthe as the Goddess of Dawn, creator of the holy sword Signaltin. Under the name Oohime, she is also enshrined as a creation goddess by the People of the Earth, and as a sun goddess by the priests of Higashihongan Shrine.

See Invaders of the Rokujyouma!? – Forthorthe for tropes related to her mortal guise.

Korama

Karama

A pair of haniwas that serve as Kiriha's primary method of fighting. That said, they are sentient and often join in with the group's antics, or are lent out to other characters.

  • Bash Brothers: They call each other "brother" in Gratuitous English.
  • Deflector Shields: Capable of generating a spiritual energy barrier, which has different properties from the personal distortion fields used by Forthorthians. This barrier can also be expanded to encompass and defend others.
  • Enmity with an Object: Ruth's drones have similar functions to the haniwas, making them eager to prove their superiority. Their first fight with one ended with it in wreck and them heavily injured (but proud proving "the souls win again").
  • Flight: Both usually float at shoulder-height so they can communicate with the other characters. But they can also fly up in the air for reconnaissance.
  • Functional Magic: In one sidestory Aika manages to teach the haniwas basic magic, much to her own surprise, though being so small they don't have the Mana for anything more than parlour tricks.
  • Golem: Each haniwa consists of an artificial soul bound to an apparently-clay body. This gives them the ability to generate spiritual power, and it's later revealed that they've unexpectedly developed the ability to generate Mana as well (albeit not enough to be useful).
  • Invisibility: Both of them can camouflage themselves or as Ruth calls it, "thermo-electromagnetic camouflage".
  • Playing with Fire: Can release fire from their "mouths".
  • Shock and Awe: They can also create lightning with their body.
  • Space Fighter: The Oohime, introduced later in the series, is a flying vehicle designed to be operated by the haniwas.
  • Verbal Tic: Their sentences tend to end with "~ho".

    Sanae-san (SPOILERS)

"Sanae-san"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sanae_san.png

The original, living Sanae Higashihongan. She has a very high spiritual energy thanks to her father's lineage. Because of this, she was kidnapped by the former Dark Navy, Maya. Rainbow Nana saved her, but Sanae lost a large amount of her spiritual energy. She was then admitted to a hospital due to her weak state caused by her leaking spiritual energy. Her parents moved from Corona House Room 106 to the Higashihongan family residence since it's closer to the hospital where she's being treated. The leaked spiritual energy in Corona House Room 106 later turned into an "artificial ghost" with a separate conscious from the original.

  • Death Amnesia: After she merges with her astral self, Sanae forgets her memories of being a ghost in Room 106. She later recovers them.
  • Feminine Women Can Cook: Unlike her astral self, Sanae-san can cook, which shows off her gentler personality.
  • Literal Split Personality: Sanae-chan can project herself out her body, while Sanae-san controls it. In book 36 it's shown that Sanae-chan can choose to remain in the body and project Sanae-san instead, whose weak spiritual signature is useful in some situations.
  • Next Tier Power-Up: Merging with the ghost Sanae in Volume 11 restores her full spiritual power, which is likened to that of a minor god. This makes her spiritual attacks much stronger, as well as allowing her to imbue her power into objects.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Funnily enough, with herself. Sanae-chan is a Genki Girl, while Sanae-san is a Shrinking Violet.
  • Split Personality: Zigzagged. After recovering her memories as a ghost, she can astral project the 'active, cheerful, ghost Sanae-chan' while the 'shy, timid, human Sanae-san' stays in the human body, though their/her soul is still connected.
  • Split-Personality Merge: Kiriha theorizes that the "Sanae-chan" and "Sanae-san" personalities will merge together over time.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She looks identical to her mother's younger self.
