Characters / Invaders of the Rokujyouma!? – Forthorthe

Go To

The Holy Galactic Empire of Forthorthe, a vast civilisation comprised of Human Aliens. 2,000 years ago (while still at Renaissance tech levels) their homeworld was almost conquered in a Military Coup lead by the treacherous Maxfern, only for his forces to be overthrown by the rightful Princess Alaia and her legendary champion the Blue Knight.

Forthorthe has enjoyed many centuries of prosperity, but the current head of the Imperial Army grows ever more ambitious, and frictions with the Empress are at an all-time high. History may be starting to repeat itself...

    open/close all folders
    In General
  • Elective Monarchy: Forthorthe has eight royal families, including Mastir, Schweiger, Sarioon and Glendad, from which each new emperor/empress may be chosen. The council of families are also capable of removing the current leader in case of impeachment, or appointing a temporary regent while they're unavailable.
  • Lord Country: Royals have the surname "Forthorthe".
  • Planet of Hats: While Forthorthe is a complex, varied, and rounded society, there is one inescapable "hat" - two thousand years of hero worship of the Blue Knight.
  • Overly Long Name: Forthorthian royals have five portions to their name, though they usually use only the first, second and last portions outside of very formal situations. E.g. for Theiamillis Gre Forthorthe, full name "Theiamillis Gre Mastir Sagurada Von Forthorthe", her name breaks down as:
    • "Theiamillis" is her personal name, and what her friends call her (when it's not just "Theia").
    • "Gre" indicates when she was born within her generation of royalty. Kua = 1st, Daora = 2nd, Canon = 5th, Gre = 7th. Empresses use the title "Dana" instead.
    • "Mastir" is the name of the royal family to which she was born.
    • "Sagurada Von" is her personal title, connected to the name of her sword Saguratin.
    • "Forthorthe" is, obviously, the name of the empire.

The Silver Princess' (Alaia) Faction / The Reborn Forthorthe Army

    Princess Alaia Kua Forthorthe

Alaia Kua Forthorthe (Alaia Kua Mastir Signaria Tio Forthorthe)

Voiced by: Megumi Takamoto

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokujouma_alaia.png

Forthorthe's legendary Silver Princess; a member of the Mastir family, and Forthorthe's first princess of her generation.

  • The Chains of Commanding: She's a princess who puts her duties first before her own happiness.
  • Damsel in Distress: She gets kidnapped at the climax near the end of the story.
  • Egopolis: One of the inhabited planets in Forthorthe's solar system is currently named "Alaia" in her honour.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Is depicted with them in artwork.
  • In-Series Nickname: "The Silver Princess".
  • Lady and Knight: She's famous for being the princess the legendary Blue Knight protected.
  • Living Battery: She gave half her life energy for the sword, Signaltin, at the cost of making her a Squishy Wizard due to her not wielding it herself.
  • Meaningful Name: "Signaria Tio" is Forthorthian for "silvery white snow".
  • Mystical White Hair: She was well-known for her long white hair, which gave her the name of the Silver Princess.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: In Ancient Forthorthe, more than half of her soul went to empower Signaltin. When she died on Forthorthe, the remainder of her soul followed Signaltin to Earth and was reincarnated as Harumi. After the Nine Invaders created a new contract with Signaltin in the process of investing the Sword of Harmony Nalfalaren, this portion of her soul was freed. She appears to Koutarou to say goodbye before her indentity joins her sister Charl and other contemporaries In The Light, while the balance of her soul joins Harumi, as it would have had it not been in Signaltin.
  • Politically-Active Princess: Downplayed during the legend of the Blue Knight due to her being in exile, but once she returns to the throne she's recorded as a talented politician. Among her actions, she institutes restrictions on magic which eventually lead to it being dismissed as myth. In book 25, Elexis (a character in the present day) is defeated by a clause which Alaia wrote into Forthorthian law for the heroes to take advantage of, which he describes as "a second Signaltin" in terms of the ludicrous power it grants when unsheathed.
  • Princess Classic: Of the Silk Hiding Steel variety. The "delicate and leaves everything to the brave knight" part is Deconstructed - she was originally prepared to go it alone, but once the Blue Knight proves his worth she weakens her own body in order to awaken Signaltin for him to use (and gains powerful magic in the process). By both In-Universe speculation and Word of God, if the Blue Knight had not appeared she would have wielded Signaltin herself and gone down in legend as "Sword Princess Alaia".
  • Rescue Romance: Her true love is the Blue Knight who she met when he saved her from ten soldiers from the Coup Faction.
  • Secret-Keeper: She's the only one in her time period who knows the Blue Knight's true identity and information.
  • Spirit Advisor: She can communicate with her present incarnation, Harumi, to give her advice and help her use her secret powers.
  • Time-Travel Romance: She's in love with a knight who's actually an Earthling high school boy from 2,000 years in the future. After he returns to his own era, Alaia reincarnates into Harumi just to see Koutarou again.
  • True Blue Femininity: Wears white clothing with a blue shawl and accessories, and is renowned for her gentle nature.
  • Unbroken Vigil: She takes care of Koutarou while he's unconcious after battling Alunaya until she passed out.
  • Uptown Girl: The princess of a country that fell for a knight. And even more since he was a commoner.

The Golden Princess, second princess of Forthorthe and Alaia's 10 year old sister. She's Theia's ancestor and synchronicity.
  • Cheerful Child: Clan notes she's similar to Theia when she was younger.
  • Call-Back: In Theia's play based on the Blue Knight, she played the role of her ancestor the Golden Princess. Turns out she's the spitting image of the actual Golden Princess.
  • Identical Grandson: Or descendant in Theia's case.
  • Innocent Blue Eyes: Befitting for a child.
  • In-Universe Nickname: "Charl" and "The Golden Princess".

  • Master Swordsman: Being a knight, she's been trained with the sword.

    Caris Webnant

Caris Webnant

Voiced by: Nichika Omori

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokujouma_caris.png

An orphan girl raised by Maxfern's court magicians, she was ordered to watch over Alaia and her companions but later ended up defecting to their side. She's both Yurika and Maki's synchronicity.

  • Composite Character: She has both the present day magical girls' characteristics. She has Yurika's appearance, appetite, and sometimes silliness (at least when it comes to food) and Maki's (more) lack of silliness and Heel–Face Turn.
  • Flying Broomstick: Capable of using her Magic Staff as one.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After being poisoned with the town and knowing there's no cure, she realizes she's being disposed of and joins Alaia and her companions.

     Orion (Soldier A)

Orion

A soldier assigned to the borders of the Mastir territory, who allowed Alaia's group entry even without the proper documents. While his name has been lost to the ages, he is famous throughout Forthorthe for his loyalty to the royal family. Koutarou was originally cast as Orion (under the name "Soldier A") in the early stages of the Blue Knight play.

  • His Name Really Is "Barkeep": Lampshaded. His real name Orion is spelled with the first letter of the Forthorthian alphabet, meaning he really was "Soldier A".
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Such a minor character that he doesn't actually show up on-page, his meeting with the Blue Knight only being described after the fact. At the same time he leaves an impression on the hero, and eventually receives a modern-day counterpart who achieves Mauve Shirt status.

    Signaltin

Signaltin

Holy sword of the Forthorthe Empire. It is bestowed by the "Silver Princess", Alaia Kua Mastir Signaria Tia Forthorthe, to the legendary Blue Knight.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: In episode 5 of the Animated Adaptation, note  when Koutarou throws a charm empowered by the mysterious white mana, said mana briefly takes the shape of a sword.
  • Anti-Magic: Has the power to cut through magic.
  • Artifact of Attraction: With its incredible power and status as a symbol of kingship, Alaia decides that Signaltin will only spark conflict if it remains in Forthorthe, which is one of the reasons she gives it to Koutarou.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Folsarian mages break down magic into seven schools, each corresponding to one of the colours of the rainbow. Signaltin's mana, however, is white, and has been seen enhancing the power of other spells or creating effects which combine the fields of multiple schools.
  • BFS:
  • Cast from Experience Points: When a member of Forthorthian royalty awakens Signaltin, they must invest part of their soul into the weapon, causing them to become physically frail but gain great magical abilities. Normally the drawbacks are cancelled out by the powers of Signaltin itself, making the wielder a Magic Knight. Alaia, however, designates someone else as the sword's master; as a result, while she still gains powerful magic, it makes her a Squishy Wizard.
  • Excalibur in the Rust: When first encountered the sword is located in a sealed chapel, and it is restored by the magic of the Princess.
  • Famed In-Story: A major part of the Legend of the Blue Knight and Silver Princess is when she gives him this sword.
  • Finders Rulers: Originally a weapon that could only be wielded by the Forthorthian royal family, with Maxfern attempting to seize it to validate his conquests. However, Alaia modified its awakening so that it would serve the Blue Knight instead of herself, and since then its status as the personal weapon of Forthorthe's Messiah figure has mostly overshadowed its original role.
  • Forged by the Gods: Given to the kingdom of Forthorthe by the Goddess of the Dawn, who created the Universe.
  • Fusion Dance: In book 26, all nine invaders infuse their power into the broken fragments of Signaltin and Saguratin, increasing their power. This also has the unusual side effect of causing the weapons to fuse into the "sword of harmony" Nalfalaren whenever the Whirlpool of Chaos appears.
  • Immortality Inducer: Said to grant the wielder immortality, which turns out to be due to its properties as a Soul Jar. While Alaia aged and died normally, bringing the sword to Earth (and specifically the place where its master would be born) caused her to be reincarnated nearby as Harumi.
  • Legendary Weapon: An integral part of the founding myth of the Holy Galactic Empire of Forthorthe, being a sword of kingship and effectively their answer to Excalibur.
  • Loyal Phlebotinum: Being empowered by Alaia's wish to protect the Blue Knight, it shatters if anyone attempts to wield it against him.
  • Mysterious Protector: Over the course of the first arc, a mysterious "white mana" occasionally manifests in order to protect the cast, in later appearances taking the shape of a sword. This is eventually revealed to be the result of Signaltin, unable to physically travel to its master, instead projecting its mana from a distance.
  • Named Weapon: Named for the princess Alaia's sigil.
  • One-Handed Zweihänder: With shield in the period covered by the second play.
  • Reforged Blade: Signaltin is destroyed twice over the course of the story, but is quickly repaired by repeating its investiture ritual. This happens first in book 8.5 with Alaia, and then again in book 26 where it receives power from all nine invaders.
  • Spell Blade: Defied. Signaltin struggles at delivering spiritual damage, meaning that its wielder can be overwhelmed by certain unusual enemies like ghosts. However, the sword's sheer "weight" also prevents spiritual energy from being channelled into it, forcing Koutarou to take up Dual Wielding it with Saguratin in case spiritual attacks are needed.
  • Summon to Hand: After Signaltin and Saguratin are upgraded in book 26, any of the residents of Room 106 can summon them to their side. They can also appear on their own in response to the Whirlpool of Chaos.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Capable of casting spells in response to its wielder's will, including those which would be staggeringly difficult for Folsarian mages. However, this also exhausts the sword's Mana reserves for a time, making it significantly less powerful. If Alaia is nearby, she can take control of this process to make it more efficient.
  • Weirdness Magnet: Signaltin's presence on Earth is responsible for some of the weird happenings early in the series, including Alaia being reincarnated as Harumi.

The Coup d'état / The Forthorthe Army

    Maxfern

Violbarum Maxfern

Voiced by: Fumihiko Tachiki

The leader of the coup d'état

    Grevanas

Grevanas

Maxfern's right-hand man and archmage.
  • The Archmage: One of the seven archmages of Ancient Forthorthe.
  • The Atoner: In a way. While building Folsaria, they created a kingdom with no king as to not repeat what happened in Forthorthe. Too bad there were still political problems later on
  • Came Back Wrong: His lich form in book 36 is noticeably more unhinged than he was in life. He claims that this is because magic depends on the caster's mental image, and the cultists who reconstituted his soul were relying on distorted accounts which conflated him with Maxfern.
  • Court Mage: To Maxfern.
  • He Who Must Not Be Named: In Folsaria, where he is remembered as the Grand Wizard responsible for their peoples' exile, details about him are kept secret and his name is forbidden from being spoken.
  • I Am Not Left-Handed: Supposedly had a mind on par with Kiriha and magical talent on par with Yurika, which he was unable to bring against the Blue Knight due to being preoccupied keeping Alunaya under control. After being brought back as a lich, on the other hand...
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After being sent to what would later become Folsaria, he later regretted his betrayal of the royal family.
  • Our Liches Are Different: Returns as a lich in book 36, with increased magic and lessened sanity.

    Dextro

Copper Knight Dextro

Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita

Commander of the unit sent to poison the village where Alaia and her supporters are staying. As a man of common birth he is still officially a squire, being chosen for the job mainly for his lack of scruples. He serves Maxfern in the hopes of being promoted to established knight and living a life of luxury.
  • Foreshadowing: After his defeat, the Blue Knight criticises him for relying too much on his golem rather than his own strength. Later in the story, recurring antagonist Elexis Borannam (implied to be Dextro's reincarnation) proves to be a Worthy Opponent who pilots a Mini-Mecha into battle despite having Mecha-Mooks which could do it for him.
  • Golem: Carries an orb which lets him command a giant "magic soldier", referred to by Caris as a steel golem.
  • Smug Snake: He's very prideful of his golem, even though he has no extraordinary abilities of his own.

    Alunaya

Fire Dragon Emperor Alunaya

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokujouma_alunaya_true_plush.png
Strongest of the dragons of Ancient Forthorthe, enslaved by Maxfern's wizards to serve as a living weapon.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: He's capable of breathing in space for short periods by using the air stored in his wind barrier.
  • Big Eater: His sidestory in book 27 has him gorging himself on Earth delicacies through Shizuka's senses, furthering her Weight Woes.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: He was being controlled by the coup d'etat.
  • Confusion Fu: With Shizuka (a human karate practitioner) in control of his body, his movements become extremely confusing to other dragons. After all, with their powerful tails, no one expects a dragon to kick.
  • Cool Old Guy: Settles into this role after being freed from Maxfern's control.
  • Deflector Shields: Covered by a sheath of wind magic which he originally developed to improve his maneuverability in the air, but which also helps shield him from attacks.
  • Faster Than They Look: The real deal is noted to be much faster than any of his depictions in movies about the Blue Knight, and faster than dragons tend to be depicted in general.
  • Honorary Uncle: To Shizuka.
  • Jack of All Trades: Described as filling this role among the elder dragons, having a good balance of physical and magical abilities.
  • The Nose Knows: He has an extremely refined sense of smell, boasting of his ability to pick out prey from high in the air.
  • Our Dragons Are Different:According to the author, his abilities are more magical than biological, thus Hand Waving any issues that would realistically not happen. While he can fly and breathe fire, his abilities are far beyond the characters' expectations: his body is sheathed in a barrier of wind magic which reduces friction to grant him incredible speed and maneuverability, and his Breath Weapon is so concentrated that it looks less like a flamethrower and more like a spaceship-class Wave-Motion Gun.
  • Sleep-Mode Size: Some time around book 26, he starts projecting a small avatar that resembles a plush toy version of himself. This is mostly for the convenience of those speaking to him, as his senses are still linked to his host's.
  • Symbiotic Possession: In the present day, he resides inside Shizuka's body, allowing her to transform into a Draconic Humanoid or manifest a projection of his original body for short periods. In the latter case, Alunaya is usually the "pilot", but he can hand control to Shizuka to take advantage of her martial arts skills.
  • Wreathed in Flames: Sometimes enters this state in intense fights. When he's going all out, the flames turn white.

    Darzakah

Mountain Ruler Darzakah

Introduced in book 36. An old friend of Alunaya, an elder dragon with great physical strength and control over earthquakes. He was captured by Grevanas some time before the Blue Knight campaign, and his whereabouts became unknown. In the present day, his corpse is animated to serve as an obstacle to the protagonists.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: Capable of creating earthquakes.
  • Dracolich: A skeletal dragon. Because there weren't many references to use for controlling something of his body type, the cultists who animated him also bound his original soul to the body, allowing him to retain all of his fighting skill and magical abilities.
  • Fighting Fingerprint: Alunaya realises that Darzakah's soul is still bound to his body because no one else would be able to predict his moves so easily.
  • Magically Inept Fighter: Not as talented in magic as Alunaya, but stronger and more skilled at fighting.
  • Mercy Kill: Alunaya disables the thing that was once his friend by gripping him by the horns and snapping his neck, wanting to honour him by using a traditional draconic killing technique.
  • Super-Strength: His corpse remains stronger than Alunaya even as a skeleton.

Present-Day Forthorthe

Elfaria Faction / The Reborn Forthorthe Army

    Empress Elfaria Dana Forthorthe

Elfaria Dana Forthorthe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokujouma_elfaria.png

The current empress of Forthorthe, Theia's mother and head of the Mastir family. "Dana" is a title she received as empress; before her coronation her name was Elfaria Kua Forthorthe, indicating her as the first princess of her generation.

Famous as a historian and archaeologist, she is responsible for instilling Theia with her strong admiration for the Blue Knight, and personally designed her battleship of the same name. She is also famous for her pro-disarmament policies, which have earned her many enemies among the military.

  • Cerebus Retcon: Soon after Elfaria's introduction, it's revealed that Theia showing up on Earth wasn't random, but the result of Elfaria meeting a time-travelling Koutarou twenty years prior. This lead her to raise Theia as someone who admired the legendary Blue Knight, and to hack the location of her test so that she would end up by his side.
  • The Chessmaster: A master manipulator who knows Koutarou's every button, to the point where his response to a years-old recording she left sounds almost like a two-sided conversation.
  • The Gadfly: She likes messing with Koutarou
  • In-Series Nickname: "Elle".
  • Martial Pacifist: Despite being an outspoken pacifist, she personally designed the incredibly powerful battleship "Blue Knight". When Koutarou calls her out on this, she justifies it by pointing out that the ship is only impressive when piloted by Theia, Ruth and Koutarou working together, which is enough to ensure that its power is never misused.
  • Mum Looks Like a Sister: She looks young enough to be mistaken for Theia's older sister. In a sidestory, some of the girls actually manage to de-age her a few years.
  • Not So Extinct: Among her achievements as an archaeologist, she managed to revive the Rubustori tree, favoured in Ancient Forthorthe as a source of tea leaves. It helps that a time-travelling Clan shared some seeds with her.
  • Secret-Keeper: Twenty years before the start of the series, she met Koutarou and Clan while they were taking The Long Path back to the present day. This makes her chronologically the first modern Forthorthian to learn that Koutarou is the Blue Knight.
  • Someone to Remember Him By: Elfaria explains in book 14 that Theia never had a father; her daughter was conceived from her fiancé's preserved sperm after his death.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She looks like an older version of Theia.
  • Visions of Another Self: Volume 29 reveals that, in worlds where she is an alternate to the nine Invaders, she replaces Kiriha.
  • You Already Changed the Past: As Elfaria undoubted intuited, the control suit she developed from the records of Koutarou's exploits in Ancient Forthorthe became the historical Blue Knight's magical armor.

    Lord Pardomshiha

Lord Pardomshiha

Ruth's father and the head of the Pardomshiha family.
  • Shipper on Deck: He wholeheartedly supports a relationship between Ruth and Koutarou. And Ruth's reveal of Koutarou's identity gave him no more reason to object.

    Orion
Introduced in book 22. A soldier still loyal to the royal family, who passes a blind eye to Theia's group when they try to sneak into a town gate he's been assigned to guard.
  • Animal Lover: The group's magical disguises are blown because Orion was so eager to bring the cute animals treats. After an initial moment of shock, however, he simply bows and declares that he prides himself on his love of animals, pretending he didn't see anything.
  • The Consigliere: In his later role as Koutarou's adjutant; while always respectful, he's not afraid to raise objections or crack the occasional dry joke. Koutarou also says that their status as fellow soldiers helps him open up with Orion about things he can't talk about with the girls.
  • Generation Xerox: Fills the same role as his namesake, the unknown soldier who allowed Alaia passage on her own journey to the Pardomshiha lands.
"You've helped us out again, Orion. Thank you."
How did that knight know my name...?'
  • Mauve Shirt: Is ultimately assigned as Koutarou's adjutant, making a number of brief appearances afterwards as part of large-scale battles.
  • Undying Loyalty: To the royal families of Forthorthe.

The Imperial Army

    Vandarion

Lord Marswell Dayora Vandarion

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokujouma_vandarion.png

The power-hungry leader of the Imperial Army, who frames Elfaria for crimes so that those loyal to him can seize control of the government. Implied to be a reincarnation of Maxfern.

    Granado

Director General Granado Valkyris

    Ralgwin

Lord Ralgwin Vester Vandarion

Introduced in book 30. Nephew to the more famous Vandarion, and #4 of his band of knights. After the coup is foiled, his forces attempt to spark war between Forthorthe and Earth.

  • False Flag Operation: Tries to spark conflict by having his forces attack their fellow Forthorthians while wielding Earth weapons.
  • A Father to His Men: His greatest strength, and the cause of his demise. After a diligent effort to get him away from Grevanas, Fasta ended up mortally wounded. He immediately surrendered to Grevanas to have her healed. Grevanas then used his body as a vehicle to resurrect Maxfern - just what Fasta feared.
  • Jack of All Trades: Described as having three-quarters the military prowess of Vandarion, and three-quarters the intellect of Granado.
  • The Remnant: Leads a group of loyalists who remained hidden on Earth, reactivating after the collapse of their main force.
  • Technology Uplift: Attempts to cause chaos by spreading Forthorthian technology to Earth. This includes trading gravity-based comms to the yakuza, and self-destructing one of his ships in order to scatter its components over a wide area.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Many of his plans are designed so that they can still advance some of his goals even if they fail (e.g. launching assassination attempts as a diversion or to gather intel).

    Fasta

Fasta

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokujouma_34_fasta.png

Introduced in book 34. A young woman who serves as Ralgwin's best sniper and reconnaissance agent.

  • Cold Sniper: Makes her introduction by trying to assassinate Ruth with a sniper rifle, and is described as ice-cold. Downplayed in that she's also Ralgwin's Watson, and often shows visible surprise in their interactions.
  • Spy Catsuit: Wears one of these with a breath mask and hooded cape.
  • The Watson: Seems to have been added to the story primarily to give Ralgwin someone to explain his plans to.

    SPOILERS FOR BOOK 35

The Gray Knight

A mysterious man with a similar aura to Koutarou, who appears to have some level of control over the Whirlpool of Chaos. After a few books hinting at his existence, he makes his first proper appearance in book 35.

  • Cast from Hit Points: Ralgwin quickly figures out that the Gray Knight's powers come with some great toll that prevents him from using them too often, which is why he needs Ralgwin's help to achieve his objectives.
  • Diabolus ex Machina: Makes his entrance by teleporting Ralgwin's forces to safety right after their defeat.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Koutarou, having a similar aura and being styled as a darker counterpart to the Blue Knight.
  • In the Hood: Uses a hood to conceal his face, revealing it only to Ralgwin.
  • Mysterious Protector: The Whirlpool of Chaos first ambiguously protects Ralgwin's forces from the protagonists, then unambiguously rescues them in Book 35, at which point the Gray Knight steps out of the shadows to reveal himself to Ralgwin as the one responsible.
  • No Name Given: From Book 36 onwards, he's referred to in narration as "The Gray Knight" in reference to his armour. Ralgwin learns his true identity at the start of the book, but it isn't revealed to the reader.
  • Wrong Context Magic: Whatever his abilities are they don't radiate mana, spiritual energy or even gravity distortions.

Others

    Elexis Borannam

Elexis Borannam

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokujouma_elexis.png

The ambitious young CEO of Forthorthian weapons manufacturer "Dragon Knight Industries". First appears in book 9 as Ruth's fiancé, a man who seeks a political marriage with the Pardomshihas to increase his own status. Later he becomes a recurring antagonist who joins forces with Darkness Rainbow to produce Magitek products, assisting Vandarion while trying to manipulate him to his own ends.

  • Ace Pilot: Duels Koutarou in customised Mini-Mecha from DKI's "Warlord" series, and is also the gunner for the Gelaurudis.
  • Affably Evil: What else can you call a villain who gifts his arch-nemesis with a designer suit?
  • Anti-Villain: While he uses unscrupulous means to seize power, it's noted that he genuinely is interested in reform rather than just power for its own sake. He actually shares a lot of Empress Elfaria's policies (even a smaller military, which would cut into his own profits), but doesn't think the current government structure is conducive to implementing them.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Downplayed. He's not really a villain, and he didn't really win. But Elfaria later addressed his problems regarding the military running amok again.
  • Beat Them at Their Own Game:
    • In the first arc of the series, the Fantasy Kitchen Sink nature of the protagonists gives them a broad range of attacks, defences and sensory abilities, allowing them to overwhelm enemies by switching to one they're not familiar with. Elexis is the first villain who gets his hands on a similar mix of resources; not only can he produce weapons which do the same thing, he can mass-produce them.
    • In volume 25 he's on the receiving end of this. Koutarou, with help from Clan and Kiriha, outsmarts him in business.
  • Call-Forward: In book 14, twenty years before the present day, a time-travelling Koutarou mentions a fondness for "people controlling giant robots to fight monsters" in front of a DKI domestic robot. It expresses disappointment that it "cannot live up to the customer's expectations", explaining that DKI has always been distant from the war industries.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Uses his vast wealth and connections to blatantly violate the law.
  • Defeat Means Friendship: Finally surrenders to Koutarou in book 25, admitting that he's been defeated on every level. In the next book he and Maya make one last appearance, piloting a spaceship loaded with Anti-Magic shells to assist Koutarou in his final battle against Vandarion.
  • Didn't See That Coming: For all his genius, the one thing he couldn't account was the fact that Koutarou is literally the Blue Knight, not just a successor, which would lead to his downfall. To be fair, no one else did and it would be illogical to think so without knowing the context.
  • Enemy Mine:
  • Even Evil Has Standards: While he does some shady stuff, he absolutely refuses to use weapons which could cause collateral damage in a civilian area. Both he and Koutarou note that if he had looser morals in that area, he could have beaten the protagonists long ago.
  • Evil Evolves: Upgrades his technology between each appearance in order to better counteract the protagonists' abilities. He passes some of these upgrades on to Vandarion's Elite Mooks as well, making their job all the harder.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: After Koutarou reveals his identity as the Blue Knight, he drinks several shots off-screen.
  • Not So Above It All: Koutarou revealing his identity as the Blue Knight made him go take a couple of drinks. After all, he's a Forthorthian (and one who pursues a knightly aesthetic at that), so realising that he's been trying to kill the Second Coming of his culture's Messiah figure has to take a toll on him.
  • Not So Similar: While Koutarou first compares him to Dextro, Elexis turns out to have significantly more Evil Virtues. Most notably, while Dextro helped Maxfern to spread a biological weapon, Elexis is so disgusted by Vandarion's use of one that he temporarily allies with the heroes until it can be disarmed.
  • Unholy Matrimony: While their initial Villain Team-Up with Maguz goes sour, Elexis and Maya end up getting along surprisingly well, which soon progresses to a romantic relationship.
  • Villain Team-Up: Joins forces with Maguz and Darkness Rainbow to assist in the former's coup attempt. While the coup is foiled, Elexis escapes with detailed information on the People of the Earth's spiritual technology, and remains Darkness Rainbow's main sponsor up until their defeat.
  • Wine Is Classy: Is often depicted drinking wine, and offers some to Koutarou as a way of introducing his proposal in book 25.
Koutarou: "I'm not old enough to drink alcohol."
Elexis: "There's nothing to worry about. This is Forthorthe."
Koutarou: "Even under Forthorthe's laws, I can't drink yet."
Elexis: "Depending on how you choose to throw your title around, I think you could get away with it."
  • Worthy Opponent: To Koutarou.

    Princess Ceilēshu Kua Forthorthe

Ceilēshu Kua Forthorthe (Ceilēshu Kua Sarioon Falcmuse Forthorthe)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokujouma_ceilshu.png

The first princess of Forthorthe, from the centrist Sarioon family. She is jointly sponsored by Elexis and Koutarou as an uncontroversial regent empress in Elfaria's absence, as part of Elexis's plan to shut down the warmongering Vandarion and allow the two remaining factions to settle their disputes through politics alone.

  • Girl Friday: Becomes this to Elfaria after she is restored to the throne.
  • Hidden Depths: Koutarou's first impression of Ceilēshu is that she has neither the bare iron will of Clan, Elle and especially Theia, nor the Silk Hiding Steel of Alaia, but merely silk with nothing underneath. He's relieved when she shows signs of wanting to defy Elexis.
  • Magical Girl Queenliness Test: Ceilēshu failed the test that really counted (Volume 25).
    • Clan hurried to catch up to Koutarou and the others. Her steps were light and without hesitation.
    • Ceilēshu: "I'm really not capable of being empress... How truly unfortunate..."
    • Clan was running while Ceilēshu was standing still. They were both princesses, but that distinct difference between them made her realize that she wasn't suited to be empress.
  • Meaningful Name: Her personal title "Falcmuse" means "the blossoming season" in Forthorthian.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: Lacks the strength to turn down Elexis's offer to heal her sick father ( using his access to magic and spiritual energy technology), but in the end she cannot betray Forthorthe and Koutarou.
    • "I am a princess of Forthorthe, after all. No matter what it costs me."
  • Puppet King: Chosen by Elexis for seeming easy to manipulate. He is fully open to this about Koutarou, saying that even once Elfaria's name is cleared he'll do everything possible to keep her from returning to the throne.
  • Visions of Another Self: Volume 29 states that, in alternate worlds where she replaces one of the Invaders, she takes the place of Alaia/Harumi in the White light of creation.

    Nalfa Laren

Nalfa Laren

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokujouma_nalfa.png

Introduced in Volume 30. One of the first transfer students from Forthorthe after they open diplomatic relations with Earth. Little sister of Danesford Laren, ace reporter for The Mastir Economist, and has been following in his footsteps by vlogging her experiences of life in another world. She becomes fast friends with Kenji's little sister Kotori, who is entering high school at the same time.

  • Amnesiac God: Actually a mortal guise of the Goddess of Dawn, who (following Koutarou's suggestion from the previous book) has altered the memories of herself and the main cast so that she can experience life as a normal person.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: Often seems unaware of where she's going, to the point where she regularly trips over her own feet. Takehaya comments in the afterword of book 30 that this has some overlap with Yurika, so in future Yurika will move on to "bigger and better" ways of humiliating herself.
  • Fangirl: Starts as a Blue Knight fangirl. Then she gets to personally know Koutarou as well as her princesses Theia and Clan. Then starts vLogging about them...
  • The Fool: Fits this even more than Yurika herself. As while Yurika knows she can sometimes be a trouble magnet and tries to avoid it (sometimes to no avail), Nalfa is always sunny cheerful and is prone to accidents, but doesn't try to actively avoid them like Yurika does. And she can still use her powers as the Goddess of Dawn to help the others (even subconsciously).
  • Honorary True Companion: After she and Kotori move next door to Room 106 they frequently get to join in on group meetings, though as non-combatants they're unable to take a more active role.
  • Instant Web Hit: Her videos of casual interactions between Princess Theia and the Blue Knight make her an overnight sensation on the Forthorthian internet and earn her huge royalties (almost 4 billion yen just through the end of Volume 30), though she admits it has more to do with the content than her own abilities.
  • Real Name as an Alias: "Nalfa Laren" is the Goddess of Dawn's real name. Fortunately, it still fits Forthorthian naming conventions.

    Princess Nefilforan Canon Forthorthe

Nefilforan Canon Forthorthe (Nefilforan Canon Glendad Aldousine Forthorthe)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rokujouma_nefilforan.png

Introduced in book 34. The fifth princess of Forthorthe, a tall young woman around the same age as Koutarou. A member of the militaristic Glendad family, she holds the rank of regimental commander and is famous for her skill in battle.

She is invited to Earth in book 35, officially to provide added security for the next wave of Forthorthian visitors, but secretly also to assist in the raid on Ralgwin's base.

  • The Atoner: The Glendad family remained neutral during Vandarion's coup attempt, so Nefilforan tries to make up for it by working extra-hard to mop up the remants of his faction.
  • Badass Crew: Her unit are noted to be elites who can make battlefield preparations in record speed.
  • Boom Stick: Her greatspear also incorporates a beam cannon in its tip.
  • Colonel Badass: Holds a military rank equivalent to colonel, and is described as "an icon of Forthorthian valor". She’s so strong that she can fight evenly with a fully-equipped Koutarou, even while he has Harumi for backup.
  • Confusion Fu: Her intense training allows her to execute complex attack patterns through muscle memory, making it harder for Aura Vision to anticipate the intent behind her moves. Her spear’s built-in beam weaponry adds to the confusion, as its linear trajectory doesn’t appear much different from a normal thrust.
  • Deflector Shields: As part of her Powered Armor. She’s capable of narrowing the distortion field into a single point in order to empower her punches or parry blows from Signaltin, and is the only character seen to manage this without AI assistance.
  • Enhanced Archaic Weapon: Her weapon is an enormous high-tech greatspear.
  • Foil: Both she and Theia are Forthorthian princesses famed for their skill in combat. However, Theia focuses more on marksmanship, was born naturally gifted, and is in favour of downscaling the military; in contrast Nefilforan favours melee, achieved her abilities through intense training, and comes from a family with strong military ties.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": While she spends a good deal of time carrying herself professionally around Koutarou, even challenging him to a duel so she can learn his fighting ability, she eventually cracks and asks him for his autograph.
  • Lady of War: On top of her use of a traditionally feminine weapon, she has a serious, disciplined demeanour which reminds Koutarou of Flairhan.
  • Magic Enhancement: Her favoured greatspear and Powered Armor have seen her through so many intense battles that they’ve become imbued with her spiritual energy, to the point where Koutarou suspects she could use them to fight ghosts.
  • Meaningful Name: Her title Aldousine means "Piercing Greatspear".
  • Powered Armor: Wears an ornate white set similar to Koutarou's, though the lack of a Mo Cap Mecha control system allows hers to have slightly higher specs.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Koutarou apparently met her briefly during the Forthorthian Civil War arc, though he has to be reminded of it.
  • The Stoic: Noted for being extremely professional and rarely smiling, though she can still show warmth in her eyes.
  • Spell Blade: Capable of generating a high-voltage current in her armour and channeling it through her spear for greater attack power.
  • Sword and Fist: Trained in Glendad hand-to-hand techniques which were designed to compensate for the weaknesses of spears at close range, leaving her with very few blind spots.
