Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

Please create the redirect Beasts Of Battle to Beast of Battle. Just in case tropers are referring to more than just one of those. Besides, you can't pluralize it without a redirect since "beast" is within the Wiki Word.

Limpin' with the bizkit.

~JustaUsername, please see the pinned header - edits should be requested as they would be made on the page, i.e.

" [Trope Name]: [Example text]" on This Page.

Slight correction for Triple Threat at Monster.Film S To Z: change "complains about his resources being depleted" to "dismisses them as useless." Keep the "Lack of Empathy" pothole.

Edit request for Final Fantasy VII, adding entries

  • Padding: The Huge Materia subplot. After the escape from Junon, the main plot detours into Shinra wanting to launch Huge Materia from their reactors at Meteor with their old rocket, and the party sets out to stop them for little reason, then is disappointed when it doesn't work. As a result, several hours of gameplay are spent on a subplot that does little to advance the characters or the story.
  • Values Dissonance:
    • The Wall Market subplot centers around Cloud having to dress up as a woman to sneak into Don Corneo's mansion, complete with a make-up, wig, and even appropriate underwear. As part of this Cloud can visit the Honey Bee Inn and have a bath with several muscular men in swimsuits with Porn Staches, and the scene is laden with obvious homoerotic understones. Coupled with Cloud's embarassment over everything to do with this scheme (and Aerith being very amused by his embarassment), it can come off as insensitive and stereotypical towards homosexual and transgender individuals. This has led to questions of how the remake will handle the subplot, if it'll even be retained.
    • Cid's treatment of Shera, where he shouts at her, orders her around, and insults her, and Shera accepts it all because she feels she deserves it, would go over much different these days with society's heightened awareness of domestic abuse and battered women.

On Anime & Manga: G to N and Anime & Manga please change "Barol" to "Varohl"... rewatching the OVA that seems to be the official spelling.

Also on Theatre please take the italics out from the lines in the quote.

Actually, may as well get this done:

Also on the Literature page can we change the link for Tom Thumb to Hop-o'-My-Thumb? Sorry I missed that when I asked for it to go up.

Cheers!

Edit request for Watchmen (2019):

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The "Lube Man" in the fourth episode comes out of nowhere, is never mentioned again and has no impact on the story.

~nombretomado He's a costumed vigilante. He is never properly named, but is nicknamed "Lube Man" because he escapes by pouring some kind of slick liquid all over himself and sliding into a storm drain. No questionable sexual content is involved.

Ah, my mistake.

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The "Lube Man" in the fourth episode. Out of nowhere, Angela spots a man wearing a full body suit and mask out on the street. He runs away and she gives chase. The man takes out two bottles and pours some kind of slick liquid all over himself and escapes by sliding into a storm drain. In the next scene Angela is describing what happened to other police, but after that the "Lube Man" is never mentioned again and this bizarre encounter has no impact on the story.

In Literature: D to G for Joram's entry in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone please wrap a Final Solution pothole around genocidal purges of the Chimaera. Jael is fine as is.

Slight rewrite for Anime & Manga: G to N:

  • Innocents Boys' Crusade: Sir Hugo at first seems an affable member of The Knights Templar, eager to help the Children's Crusade in their goal. It is revealed Hugo is paying townspeople to fake miracles to enhance the Crusade's reputation and earn more money for himself. When the kids cut ties with him, Hugo has bandits attack them for the money, killing multiple children. Hugo then convinces three of the boys to join him, raping them as an "initiation" and having them sway others to his side. When one boy resists Hugo's attempted rape, Hugo beats him and has him thrown out of the castle where the boy commits suicide in shame. Hugo then has his initial three recruits fight to the death for his entertainment in a "rite of courage" before he is ambushed by the young Crusaders Nicolas and Guy, having the audacity to plead for his life by claiming they were nothing before him just before Nicolas beheads him.

Can we add Viking Song as a redirect to Pirate Song, since that trope includes vikings in its scope?

No "Bowser's Fury" questions please. I haven't played it yet.

Another edit request for Watchmen (2019):

Genius Bonus: During the trial of Ozymandias the Game Warden deems a bunch of pigs a fitting "jury of your peers" for Ozymandias. "Doctrine of Swine" is a criticism of utilitarian moral philosophy, which puts forth that if the utilitarian principle is to maximize pleasure and minimize pain, it assigns to humans no higher goals than what pigs have. Ozymandias's rationale that killing millions is justified if it saves billions of lives is very much utilitarian.

Could the following line be added to The Bible, at the end of the He Who Must Not Be Named entry?

...as a euphemism. Most English translations use the word lord (in all caps) where the name of God appears in the Hebrew; this conveniently fits both the first Hebrew euphemism (Adonai means lord) and the third.
