Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

On ThatOneBoss.Pokemon, Ardos's entry needs to be reworked a bit. A lot of words are not properly capitalized, it refers to a previous entry that has been cut from the page, and generally needs some grammar to be touched up a bit.

Here's the original:

  • The other right-hand man, Ardos, is far more nasty in other ways. Half of his team consists of very dangerous shadow pokemon, and the other half, consists of very dangerous non-shadow pokemon, unlike the aforementioned Ninjask and Flygon. His signature Pokemon, Alakazam, which utterly one-shotted a previous entry, has all elemental punches and has a very powerful STAB attack, all coming off from one of the highest special attack stats in the series, and he can easily target many shadow pokemon's, and even regular pokemon's weaknesses. Heracross and Kingdra are no slouches either, the former has a powerful STAB megahorn attack which will leave a mark, the latter has a weakness to a type that you most likely won't have, and can cover that weakness easily. Two of his shadow pokemon are extremely fast, and have a nasty move called "Shadow Half" which works like an unholy combination of pain split and super fang, which halves the HP of every pokemon on the field, with a recharge turn. The third shadow pokemon is a Snorlax, which introduces the powerful Shadow End move, which will destroy non-shadows very easily, and works really well together with its equally dangerous teammates. In addition, the first two shadow pokemon have four different shadow moves, including Shadow Break, Shadow Storm, Shadow Sky, and Shadow Mist. Oh and the Snorlax has leftovers, which actually makes this one of the most annoying shadow Pokemon to catch, as every turn, the catch rate decreases.

And here's my rewrite:

Requesting another addition to Fire Emblem Warriors:

  • Most Annoying Sound: When two characters can no longer earn any Support points for a battle, due to either reaching a Rank Up or hitting the limit for that battle, the sound that accompanies the heart becomes more like a "Whiff!" of taking a swing and missing.
  • Most Wonderful Sound:
    • The sound that accompanies any boost in Support points between characters and fits perfectly for hearts appearing in mid-air.
    • Hearing the classic Fire Emblem "Level Up!" fanfare in the middle of a battle, especially if it happens to the player-controlled character after defeating a tough foe.
    • Hearing Caeda, Cordelia, and Hinoka shout "Triangle Attack!" whenever the three of them execute it after all three max out their Supports with each other and unleash Caeda's Awakening finisher.

The reason the YMMV page for Fire Emblem Warriors was locked was because of bad edits being made before the game was released. With it being released now, I don't see a reason for it to be locked anymore.

[up]We had someone who was using WMG to make stealth complaints against the game. That incident is an indication that there are some people who are still salty about the games, and I think the page should still be locked to avoid bad Broken Base entries, since that particular audience reaction is often used as a way for salty fans to whine.

Other Fire Emblem YMMV pages have seen a lot of misuse due to people using the audience reaction entries as a way to complain about the games. I honestly don't believe the fandom can be trusted to play nice.

Requesting quite a few updates to the 4chan page.

"* /co/ (Western Animation and Comic Books)" should be changed to "* /co/ (cartoons and comics)"

Please insert before /fa/:

  • /f/ (Flash) is a board for sharing .swf files, ostensibly only anime-related ones, though that rule is rarely enforced.

before /int/:

  • /i/ (oekaki) is the drawing board. It's one of the slower boards, and is also known for having some of the oldest active threads on the site.
  • /ic/ (artwork & critique) is board for art, more focused on criticism, draughtsmanship and skill (and also more active) than its sister board /i/.

/int/ and /jp/ bulletpoints should be switched for alphabetical order.

before /o/:

  • /news/ (current events): Distinct from the news board that previously existed and turned into what is now /pol/, this is a board intended more for news than for the political discussion typical of /pol/.

before /tv/:

  • /trv/ (travel) is a board for discussing and sharing experiences of travel.

before /vp/:

  • /vip/ (very important posts), a no-topic board in which only 4chan Pass subscribers can post.

(since this would be between /n/ and /o/, "1% people lost on the way to..." should be changed to "1% people lost on the way to /o/."

before /x/:

  • /wsr/ (worksafe requests) is a worksafe variant of /r/, though less used for photoshops and more often used for media recommendations.

before /d/:

  • /bant/ (international/random) is a board originally created as a home for the off-topic threads of /pol/. Like /int/, it uses flags to indicate country.

In the /d/ bullet, "different" could be changed to "different".

/r/ bulletpoint could be changed to:

  • /r/ (requests) is where any non-worksafe request should go. Often used to request image sources and photoshops.

before /s4s/:

  • /s/ (sexy beautiful women) is for real-life pictures of women, whether safe or nude.

(Also, "/s4s/" in the two places it appears should maybe be changed to "[s4s]")

before /u/:

  • /t/ (torrents) is the board for torrents.

As a sub-bullet under Anthropomorphic Personification:

  • In addition, certain boards have threads about personifications of things related to the board, such as Console-tan Tuesdays on /v/.

As a sub-bullet under Censor Box

  • Another often-used censor box is one that says, "WHOOPS! Can't show that in a Christian manga!"

  • Went with a commented out note for the Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon issue.
  • ~DEIDATVM I've done your edits but you ought to read over Example Indentation (we don't use subbullets as a standalone) and How to Write an Example (an example should not refer to text elsewhere on the page).
  • Fire Emblem Warriors is now unlocked, it was locked because bad edits pre-release are locked out, not necessarily including post-release edits (~Gunarm Dyne).
  • The Great Character Alignment Debate is edited, although I could just as well unlock it; it's pretty old.
  • Cannibalism was done by someone else.
  • Double Standard Rape: Female on Male already has the space.
  • ~ACW: These entries need to have their work name linked, we do that even if they don't have pages yet. Unless they violate the 5P policy, that is:
    • Seisen Cerberus: Nanbuko in the anime is an Arms Dealer who helps to keep things worse for the countries by both starting and supplying the wars with his weapons. Obsessed with the dragon Dagan Zod, Nanbuko sabotaged an attempt to defeat the dragon for good years ago, killing all of his comrades there, intending on allowing Dagan Zod to kill countless people to create enough chaos for him to profit off of. Nanbuko then attempts to kill all his followers by reducing them to raw magic, betraying even his loyal right-hand woman before gleefully trying to take Dagan Zod's power for himself to spread the "beauty of destruction" personally.
    • Broken Moon, by Steve Niles & Nat Jones: Nosferatu, the lord of the vampires that have dominated most of the Earth after the apocalypse resulted in monsters overrunning the world, sets up a cruel, dystopian city where humans have been forced into slavery by his kind, either into forced breeding to produce food for the vampires or into hellish factories with giant death tolls that do nothing but blot out the sun. Unsatisfied with oppressing humanity, and executing even his own vampire minions if they question him, Nosferatu opts to have a pipe built into the ocean so he can poison it and subsequently destroy the atmosphere, turning the entire planet into a polluted hellscape to wipe out every other species from the planet.
  • I am a bit uncertain what should be done on Fan Works (apart from complaining about the odd sorting method)
  • Dark Corners Of The Earth is also unlocked.

DTH otherwise.

~Septimus Heap: I've done that for Seisen and Broken Moon.

For Fan Works, the Lit section should look like this:

A Song of Ice and Fire

  • The Open Way: Euron Greyjoy manages to be far more villainous than in the books. During the Ironborn's attempt to become independent, Euron is first introduced torturing a captured lord, using the skulls of his two eldest sons to taunt him and threatening to have his remaining children—who are being Forced to Watch—raped by his men unless he begs for death. Capturing Casterly Rock before having the Lannister forces killed and sending their heads to Queen Cersei Lannister and King Rhaegar Targaryen, Euron reveals he sent Balon's sons and his brother Aeron into battles they cannot hope to win as simple distractions. Later seizing two dragon eggs and having Robb Stark tossed into the sea after capturing his lover Asha Greyjoy, Euron attempts to sacrifice Asha and several children so as to hatch the eggs. Ordering massive sections of King's Landing torched by wildfire in the meantime, Euron's last offer to a captured Robb is to either burn with Asha or watch her die. A power-hungry Psychopathic Manchild who thirsts for godhood, Euron wasn't afraid to kill anyone who stood in his way, including his own family.
  • Reunions: Melisandre of Asshai lacks the good intentions of her book and TV series counterparts, masterminding a wildfire attack in the prologue that destroys most of Harrenhal. On Dragonstone, Melisandre continues with her Burn the Witch! rituals. Her eventual plan is to sacrifice Shireen to the Lord of Light; she has been slipping sedatives into Shireen's food so she won't resist, biding her time until Stannis, who is on his deathbed due to more shadow creations, dies. When Stannis dies, Melisandre attempts to collect Shireen, but her plans are foiled by Davos, who escapes to the North with Shireen. Melisandre leaves Dragonstone, leaving her loyalists to die at the hands of Lannister forces. She journeys to Slavers' Bay, where she masterminds the downfall of the Slaver Cities and the imprisonment of Daenerys Targaryen. Melisandre manages to take control of the dragons without Daenerys's knowledge and uses Drogon to rescue Daenerys, while Rhaegal and Viserion destroy the Slaver Cities. With nowhere to turn, Daenerys goes to Asshai with her remaining supporters and Melisandre. Three days after their arrival, Melisandre orchestrates the murders of all of Daenerys's supporters apart from Barristan Selmy and reveals her role in the downfall of the Slaver Cities and her plot to put Daenerys and her dragons in her power and sacrifice them to awaken the Lord of Light.

Others

  • Goosebumps fanfiction Goosebumps United: Sarah Maas, in contrast to her Canon counterpart, is far more evil and ruthless, and proves that, sometimes, Humans Are the Real Monsters. After her mother is killed by Slappy the Dummy, Sarah joins Billy Deep's club to rid the city of monsters, ostensibly to avenge her mother's death. However, she soon rejects that notion and becomes just as evil as the monsters she was fighting against. Forcing Billy to kill a harmless monster, Sarah chastises him for showing empathy and being "weak." After Sarah threatens Billy's sister Sheena, she is sent to scout the new HorrorLand amusement park. Upon being captured by the monsters, Sarah pulls a Face–Heel Turn. Apparently proving her loyalty to the monsters by nearly killing Sheena, an action which shocks even the other monsters, Sarah then engineers a destructive battle between the two groups in HorrorLand, injuring many bystanders, but not before burning down the children's hideout. Sarah then imprisons both the monsters and every child who has ever encountered one, along with their parents, planning to have them all killed. She then convinces a Mad Scientist to try and erase everyone's memories to prevent an escape. After her plans are foiled, which involves an Enemy Mine with Billy's group and the monsters, Sarah snaps and steals a gun and tries to kill Billy, gunning down multiple people and even shooting her father, moments before her death.
  • Sherlock Holmes fanfiction The Ghost Map: Both Sebastian Moran and the Serial Killer he hires count. Moran, just to get Sherlock Holmes's attention, hires Dr. Jacob Land to cause a cholera outbreak in London. This outbreak results in nearly 150 deaths, including that of Holmes's friend Wiggins, just to make it personal. When Holmes confronts the two, the killer delivers a Breaking Lecture, and taunts Holmes about Wiggins's death; Moran stabs Holmes with a syringe and leaves him to die.

Also, if we're doing this, at Film K To O, the first branch of tree should be No Contest (1995).

Finally, at Western Animation, the Time Jam one should go to series, not films.

[up][up]Thanks as I felt on second thoughts that locking an entire page for only a few people when the majority are not adding them was too much. The commented out note is a much beter solution.

Think this would be a good addition for Complete Monster.

The term is really a Berserk Button trope to use no matter how canon or triumphant or In-Universe the trope is. Unless the example is here or under a work's YMMV page they are nuked on sight.
