  • Baker Street Regular Were Dragon Trixie Doe would sniff the air and mutter "Wimpy humans. I lost my parents and you don't see me crying about it." But after getting a sample of the kid's scent, she'd lurk around trying to pick up the parents' scent trail while keeping a covert eye on the kid and waiting for the kid to stop crying. Meanwhile, she'd run interference distracting/tricking/scaring off any adult who seems to be approaching the lost child with bad intentions. Trixie's exact plan depends on the circumstances. If Heather Smith or Sir Robert is available nearby, Trixie will alert them and let them handle it. If Trixie loses patience waiting for the child to stop crying, she'll engineer a Passive Rescue. If the child stops crying quickly and notices Trixie, she'll befriend the child with silly jumprope chants, then transition to "Let's play a game — let's look for your parents without looking like we're looking for your parents." While they're looking, Trixie will have lots of advice on how to be The Artful Dodger, though she'll clam up once they're within earshot of the parents.
  • Maternally Challenged Vampire Detective Heather Smith will pretend not to notice at first, instead searching the surroundings for any hidden enemies who might be using the child as bait in a trap set for her. She'll discreetly use her cellphone to notify police/security/local authorities/whoever is officially in charge of reuniting lost children with their parents. And yet she won't be able to leave and let them handle it, she'll feel compelled to watch and maybe help them finish the job.
  • Sir Robert, a Fish out of Temporal Water ghost possessing a robot, immediately approaches the child and says what one would expect a Knight in Shining Armor to say: "Fear not, dear child, I am here to save thee!" And then he'd hold the child's hand and go around asking anyone and everyone in the vicinity if they knew where to find the child's parents. He'd gain the child's trust quickly, and nobody would accuse him of ill intentions, as everyone would assume he's just one out of many Three Laws-Compliant robots, one who happens to be running a quirky medieval-themed program.

Arc: Considering his obsessive nature about, well, everything, he'd be legit shook by somebody beating him at something he's over-trained for. After that? Following minutes to hours of "contemplation" he'd double-down on his training — bury himself in research, refine his theory and execution over however long it takes, and of course, sacrifice MORE sleep. All for the sake of a rematch.

Rosie: Takes her loss in stride. While the defeat does sting deep down, she's not too keen on letting it show — and even then, it's buried under the genuine delight she has in seeing someone, even a newbie, shine like a star. To celebrate, she'd cheer on her better and move in for a hug as a reward. Although given that she's a woman of a certain stature, it's less of a gift and more of a death sentence.

Beto: He'd be of two minds about his loss. On one hand, it'd mean he's lost at baseball, AKA the one and only thing he's devoted his life to — meaning his years of practice haven't amounted to much. On the other hand, it's a foregone conclusion because his "superpower" is to lose at every conflict, contest, challenge, or even game of chance. Since this is Beto we're talking about (and thus generally an idiot), he'd do the sensible thing: coolly shrug off his loss, then when he's alone? Sob hysterically into his coach's chest. Then restart baseball practice later like nothing happened.

Your character wakes up alone in a dark, dense patch of a rainforest, and hears...something...drawing closer.

  • Felicia the dragon would assume that the something is Slenderman. She'd either burn down the rainforest with her Breath Weapon in a fit of paranoia or, if Slenderman is within lunging range, she'd grab onto him and set her internal flame to explode in a Suicide Attack, leaving a great big crater behind in the rainforest.
  • Salsa the Screwball Squirrel is Crazy-Prepared enough to already have stashes of prankster kits, if not in the rainforest, then in her personal Hammerspace. She'd quickly hide and set up a variety of snares to catch whatever it is, wanting a good look at it before she decides whether to fight for her life, prank the whatever some more, or hightail out of there. In any case, the next entries on her to-do list, after dealing with whatever is approaching in the rainforest, is finding out who moved her in her sleep; more importantly, how they did that without waking her up; and declaring a prank war for it.
  • Vampire Detective Heather Smith has enough criminals with grudges against her to where she would be very alarmed at being moved in her sleep, even more so if she wasn't already on Earth, as not noticing the journey that would take her off of the moon or Mars (both incompletely terraformed and neither with rainforests) would mean she'd been Asleep for Days and she doesn't make a habit of doing that, making her suspect that she was drugged for the trip. She'd wonder if an enemy moved her. If it was an enemy, why didn't they just kill her in her sleep? She wouldn't think about it for too long, she'd just make a tally of the questions to mull over later, do a very hasty inventory check of her pockets (and immediate surroundings if something is missing from them), add to her tally of questions based on what she finds or doesn't find, and then focus on whatever is coming at her. She's not afraid of the local wildlife, her vampiric powers are enough to handle that situation. But she'll be anxious over what to do if it turns out to not be local wildlife. If it's Sir Robert or Trixie Doe or both, she'll be relieved to see her friends and hold a council about what happened. If it's a random human or a robot, she can simply use her detective skills to interrogate them. If it's a Were Dragon she doesn't recognize, she can try to hide her terror long enough to interrogate it. If it's one or more of the criminals with a grudge against her, she'll prepare for a fight and only start a more aggressive interrogation once she's subdued them. If it's the Were Dragon who enslaved Heather's sister-in-fang Hazel Moorenote , Heather will most likely fail to interrogate him and flee instead.

Your character is being repeatedly poked by a floating disembodied hand.

Asteria goes to the nearest place she can buy some and gives it to him.

Acton is a little weirded out, but if he has some on hand, he might give him some if the guy doesn't raise a bunch of red flags.

Rigel decides to study the tiny man, promising him milk afterwards. It's a 50/50 chance he'll actually get any.

Zade ignores him at best, or, failing that, kicks him aside.

Warren overthinks everything a little too much. He might get away with it for a while, but only if his plans succeed.

Tate would probably feel bad about playing the imposter, and he'd be very apologetic toward whoever he ends up killing off. However, he's also so nice and quiet that he'd probably fly under the radar.

Cleo would just go berserk and kill as many people as she can, likely getting herself booted out but also making a pretty big impact early on.

Silver's not the best actress, so while she'd probably be good at taking people down, she'd give herself away when they're questioning her.

Alpha would possibly encourage his friends (and his sister Eris) to go along with him to investigate it. He'd act as navigator as his perception skills are literally out of this world, but he's also squishy/vulnerable.

Eris would also encourage her allies (and her brother Alpha) to go along, because she's always in for excitement and danger.

Alternova would ask her parents if it's ok for her to go, as they're very protective of her. IF they allow her, she'd have to go along with her allies or a group of guards.

Selene might find this intriguing but would probably go solo or with one other member, as she'd rather not look to conspicuous in a group.

Bonus: [up][up]Among Us.

Alpha: He'd totally suck at this thanks to his overly nice and honest nature. As soon as an emergency meeting is called or a dead body is found, he'd tell everyone in chat that he's the Impostor. Whoops.

Eris: Kills Crewmates as soon as she's capable of doing so and generally tries to piss off people in the chat. Would tend to get ejected out early because of the latter (and also because she'd get caught sooner or later).

Alternova: Possibly leaves the game early because as lawful royalty who believes in justice, she dislikes shady jobs such as being an assassin, which the Impostor clearly is.

Selene: She'd excel at this. Her actual job as a hitwoman/assassin gives her the experience to know how to blend in with the Crewmates and avoid the usual Impostor pitfalls (getting caught venting/killing, getting caught faking tasks, etc) while also being able to push the blame on others in chat.

"Bunny Burnbridge", having been demanded to hand over a set of nuclear codes to the arch nemesis, would politely and silently ask for a pen and paper, write down the launch codes to a dozen of nuclear weapon provided to him remotely inside his head from his "boss/roommate" alongside a set of coordinates, and hand it over to his nemesis through a middle hand. While also leaving out the additional fact that he coordinates are pinpointed precisely at "Bunny Burnbridge's" exact location. Once that is discovered, it's too late, and the timeline/reality implodes on itself upon detonating all at once on top off him, upon he wakes up in the next moment on a park bench in a different reality, checking a discarded newspaper for a short recap of what this world is about and when it is, sighing, and waiting to leave the bench until the worst of the lingering pain from the nuclear bombs wears off from his indestructible body, ready to see how this next world is set to end on his agenda.

Using the main cast from one of my stories:

  • Brenda Gordon: Would believe that this meant she'd get to gain Psychic Powers or talk to the dead if she went north, and eagerly start going north.
  • Brian Jones: Would run some tests to determine if he really did have superpowers or it was just a coincidence. Once he determined that he genuinely had superpowers, he'd be frustrated that it wasn't something more productive.
  • Holly Crawford: Would brag to everyone about how she has powers now.
  • Isaac Mendez: Would try to see the humour in the situation.
  • Yvonne Roberts: Would be angry that she didn't get Flight or Super-Speed.

Most of the main characters in my odd Battle Harem-ish story, Biome Artists, have been trained to be in touch with nature and help out animals (it's a part of the titular profession), so they would all try to help out the cat in some way if it sounds like those meows are a cry for help. Most of them would ignore it though and just assume that the cat is meowing to call companions or something like that, unless the cat keeps going or sounds distressed. Their house is right next to a forest, so to them "common" animal sounds are kind of just background noise to them. Zoap, being the All-Loving Hero among them with borderline Chronic Hero Syndrome, would be the first to float/fly over to it and see if it needs anything. He'd at least look at the cat right away, again for the other members of his team it would take a bit longer or the cat would have to sound distressed. Some of his teammates would lightly tease him over this, especially if the cat didn't actually need anything. If the cat is distressed, Zoap would likely be able to heal it, as he had worked with animals before and knows several healing abilities. For a handful of them, more specific situations may happen:

  • The "forest"/"woods"-living one and Zoap's first companion of the story would try to get people to see her helping out the cat if she can to try to boost her reputation. If people are watching, she'll act very sweet to the cat. If nobody's around, she'll still help the cat, but will be acting a bit more openly annoyed. "Okay, here's your food, now you can stop meowing."
  • The electric-using horror-enthusiast (currently using "Bethany" as a placeholder name) would see this as a spark of inspiration for her stories somehow. Or at least get the idea to have a cat involved in her planned horror novel.
  • The wind-using gigafan of a King of the Hill-esque Show Within a Show (the character's placeholder name "Jasmine") would still help out the cat if needed, but would crack a joke about how dogs are better in some way.

And for the villains, at least five of the main ones:

  • "Kat" would probably get an idea to use the cat as a way to advertise her own cult of the Overgrowth. She may tie a cryptic flyer to the cat's back and just let it loose, or (harmlessly) mark its fur with a symbol.
  • "Scraps" might take the cat on a joy ride on one of his newly-crafted vehicles and see if it likes it.
  • "Pearl" would almost completely ignore the cat unless it did something like try to jump at her (and even then, she's almost constantly shielded by a spherical barrier she made). She'd rather plan out how to take over the gang world.
  • "Enery" (sic) would be easily annoyed by the cat and attempt to shoe it away.
  • Princess Zelpea (placeholder name? I mashed "Zelda" and "Peach" together and am not completely proud of this) on the other hand, the main antagonist of the first several arcsnote , would ignore the cat unless it annoyed her enough and there aren't any witnesses around, then she'd try zapping it with a Plasma Art. She wouldn't care if this ends up killing the cat or not so long as she gets the quiet she wants.

  • Windaz would be unnerved at the sight of the figure, but her curiosity would get the best of her, and she'd follow them into the house. She'd have her weapon on standby in case things get out of hand, though.
  • Lulu would try to head back home, and tell her friend Dark Elf about what happened as a casual conversation topic.
  • Dark Elf herself would also head back home, but she wouldn't let the whole thing bother her that much.
  • Dual Lamia would recklessly follow the figure inside, hoping that either the figure or the house (which she hopes is haunted) will give her another fun adventure to remember. Problem is, she won't think about if this is gonna lead to less - or more - of a haunting experience as she assumes: If the rumors are false, and the figure isn't as eerie as she first thought, she won't know how to explain herself. If they're true, anything that tries to attack her mind and not her body will make her a lot less excited about what's happening.
  • Fermata would carefully follow the figure, but she wouldn't go in the house; she'll open the door and call out to see if anyone's there, but that's it. If she peers in and sees living proof (undead proof, anyway) that the rumors are true, she'll make a break for it. Regardless, it's going to be an experience that sticks with her for a long time.
