Tropes associated with Vanessa Marshall's roles
- Action Girl: She voices a lot of characters that kick butt.
- Cool Big Sis: When she plays teenage/young adult characters, they're often this, being very kind and encouraging while still speaking to them on a personal level. Mary Jane Watson is a standout example.
- Crossdressing Voices:
- While not to the extent of Tara Strong or Grey DeLisle, she's quite adept to doing this. The most notable instance is in The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, where she voiced Billy's friend Irwin.
- On
Rob Paulsen 's podcast, she does a very good take on Dennis The Menace.
- Endearingly Dorky: It's not always the case, but she can voice lovably nerdy and insecure characters with quite a bit of charm. Irwin and Danica best show this.
- Genki Girl: When it comes to young characters that she voices, they're always energetic and spunky.
- Hiccup Hijinks: In The Loud House episode "Back Out There", one of the characters she voices is a young girl who hiccups upon seeing the boys.
- Team Mom: She often voices characters who have a strong, maternal nature to them, such as Hera.
- What Could Have Been: In Justice League, she very nearly got the role of Wonder Woman before Susan Eisenberg got the role. She would eventually get the role in Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, a standalone movie that was originally meant to be in continuity with the series.
