Series 1

    Tom

Tom

  • Age-Gap Romance: He's in his early 20s while Carli is still in school.
  • Nice Guy: Whenever Tom's onscreen, he's always very approachable. Carli claims he's a bit of a dickhead behind closed doors, but she's usually in a bad mood when she says that so it's debatable how much is true.
  • Relationship Revolving Door: Carli and Tom frequently split up only to get back together again, much to Simon's chagrin.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Carli gets back with Tom in the Series 2 finale. He never appears in Series 3.

    "Friend"

"Friend"

  • Nice Guy: From what little is seen of him, he seems like a very upbeat and open kind of guy.
  • No Name Given: Nobody - not even Jay - ever uses his real name.
  • Phrase Catcher: Simon will say "friend" in a high pitched voice when referring to this guy, knowing full well it annoys Jay.

    Becky

Becky

  • Nice Girl: Jay sets Simon up with her because he reckons she wouldn't take him for granted like Carli does.

    Punk Girl

Punk Girl

  • Foil: To Becky, being another teenage girl at caravan club. While Becky is wholesome and sweet, the punk girl is coarse and willing to sleep around.
  • Opposites Attract: She propositions the uptight Will before settling on Neil, who doesn't understand some of the lengthy words she uses.

Series 2

    Wolfie

Wolfie

  • Younger Than They Look: He's 17, but looks much older. Possibly from working in a garage and lack of self care.

    Patrice

Patrice

  • Chick Magnet: Every female character seems to be lusting after him, including Will's Mum.
  • French Jerk: His very first words were "I don't like Arabs" and he bluntly tells Will that he was thinking about his mum as he spunked all over Simon's bathroom.

    Daisy

Daisy

  • Age-Gap Romance: She's a few years older than Will and they very nearly have sex. It naturally doesn't go well for Will.

    Chloe

Chloe

  • Call-Back: Jay's Dad acknowledges her in the movie, by referring to her as a "hound".
  • Morality Pet: Jay is MUCH kinder when he starts dating her.

Series 3

    Sophie

Sophie

  • Does Not Like Men: She's not too happy about Simon dating Tara and the possibility of them having sex. Given how awful her housemates are, it's likely coloured her attitude towards men in general. When Tara runs screaming from the bedroom after Simon's disastrous attempts to achieve an erection, she tells Sophie that she'd been right about Simon all along.
  • Jerkass: She spends her entire screentime being as hostile to the boys as possible. It's implied that having to share a dorm with three hooligans might have something to do with her misandristic attitude.

    Lewis, Joe & Daniel

Lewis, Joe & Daniel

  • Frat Bro: They're very loud and come up with the most bizarre reasons to either chug beer or make someone else chug beer.

Characters Introduced in the First Movie

     Alison

Sit down, specs.
Played by: Laura Haddock
Will's love interest.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Gone without a mention in the sequel. A deleted scene briefly reveals that her relationship with Will didn't go much farther than what we saw in the first movie.
  • False Soulmate: She and Will seem to get together at the end of the first movie, but he's single again by the start of the second.
  • Friends with Benefits: Offers to be this for Will after dumping Nikos. It's implied in the sequel that this was as far as it went.
  • The Gentleman or the Scoundrel: Will being the gentleman and Nikos being the scoundrel.
  • Give Geeks a Chance: While she has trouble admitting it (mostly due to already seeing someone at first), she likes Will enough to give him a fair chance.
  • Hypocritical Humour: There's a bit of Cringe Comedy where she's ok with Will touching her breasts whilst she is with Nikos, but she goes ballistic when Nikos is cheating on her within earshot, granted Nikos is a cunt but still....
  • Love Epiphany: After her breakup with Nikos and a night's sleep, she comes to the conclusion that she is attracted to Will.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Gets naked onscreen, even allowing Will to touch one of her breasts.
  • Offscreen Breakup: She dumped Will between the two movies.
  • Opposites Attract: Sexually confident and easy going, compared to the repressed, socially awkward Will.
  • Pair the Smart Ones: Both her and Will are fairly smart.
  • Second Love: To Will after Charlotte, except he manages some sort of relationship with her.
  • Uptight Loves Wild: Alison has no problem being sexy around Will, who tries to keep things platonic despite his obvious feelings.

     Lucy

Lucy

You went out with a girl called Carli? You should have said.
Played by: Tamla Kari
Simon's love interest.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Played straight regarding Lucy's feelings for Simon. Averted at the film's climax.
  • Betty and Veronica: The Betty to Carli's Veronica.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: The first movie portrays her as a friendly and caring person. But in the sequel, she's quickly revealed to be an obsessive yandere and a bitch who destroys Simon's possessions out of paranoia that he's losing interest in her. And then, at the end of the film, it's revealed that she lost interest in Simon for someone else.
  • Brooding Boy, Gentle Girl: With Simon, who still hasn't moved on from Carli.
  • Devoted to You: Would do anything for Simon, despite only having just met him. She's later revealed to be insanely clingy.
  • Downtime Downgrade: Gradually over the course of the sequel.
  • Evil All Along: The sequel reveals she isn't the sweet and friendly girl we thought she was in the first film.
  • Evil Is Petty: In the second film, she destroys Simon's stuff, including his clothes, shoes, and PlayStation for no real reason.
  • False Soulmate: After the first movie sets her up as Simon's perfect match, the sequel reveals her to be a harpy.
  • Hate Sink: In the second film, she's a complete Jerkass and abusive girlfriend who eventually cheats on Simon, and gets no comeuppance for her toxic behavior, to make her more all the more loathesome.
  • Hollywood Kiss: With Simon... who immediately ruins the moment by saying "I think I've shit myself".
  • Hypocrite: In the second film, she's completely possessive of Simon, paranoid that he's cheating on her and threatening to destroy his personal stuff if he leaves her, only for her to turn around and run off with another man herself in the end.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Gives Simon her boat party ticket so he can take one last chance on Carli.
  • Jerkass: When she isn't being obsessive towards Simon in the second film, she's downright rude, patronising and aggressive.
  • Love Cannot Overcome: Her relationship with Simon fizzles out over the course of the sequel.
  • Second Love: To Simon after Carli and Tara. They're even living together in the second movie, where she has easy access to his possessions.
  • Smitten Teenage Girl: She falls for Simon fairly quickly upon meeting him, even if he's completely fixated on Carli. Too much so by the sequel, as she becomes psychotically obsessed with controlling him.
  • The Sociopath: Has developed shades of this in the second film, as not only is she abusive and clingy towards Simon, but she leaves him for another man in the end, which shows that she saw Simon as a mere possession to be used and discarded of and never really had feelings for him.
  • Yandere: She gets seriously psychotic in the second movie, destroying Simon's possessions and deleting friends from his Facebook account.

     Jane

Jane

You're trouble, aren't you?
Played by: Lydia Rose Bewley
Jay's love interest.
  • Amicable Exes: Unlike Lucy, she and Jay part on quite pleasant terms in the second movie.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: In spite of Jay hoping not to get stuck with her, he is secretly attracted to her and the pair of them eventually get together. She has no angst about her appearance, even coming up with better insults for herself than James manages.
  • False Soulmate: She ends up breaking up with Jay between the first movie and the sequel and, despite his best efforts, does not get back together with him.
  • Lonely Together: Jane and Jay are the only characters who aren't in love triangles.
  • Ms. Fanservice: The movie shows a lot of shots of her thick and curvy body.
  • Nice Girl: Probably one of the most cheerful, friendly people in the entire series.
  • Offscreen Breakup: Dumps Jay between the movies and moves to Australia, which is why Jay goes there in the first place.
  • Playing Hard to Get: After realising that Jay doesn't want to be seen with her.
  • Second Love: To Jay, after Chloe.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: Gives Jay the cold shoulder after getting spurned one too many times.

     Lisa

I've got ethics.
Played by: Jessica Knappett
Neil's love interest.
  • Beta Couple: Her relationship with Neil isn't given nearly as much screen-time as the others.
  • Birds of a Feather: Is basically a clone of Neil.
  • Brainless Beauty: Neil manages to outsmart her.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Doesn't get so much as a mention in the sequel.
  • Distaff Counterpart: Looks and acts like a female version of Neil.
  • Hopeless Suitor: Knows that Neil already has a girlfriend.
  • Offscreen Breakup: Like Alison and Jane, she split with Neil between the movies. Neil isn't too bothered.
  • Pair the Spares: She and Neil pair up after the rest of the lads hook up with the rest of her group. Though, she has to threaten Richard's parents to do so.
  • The Silent Bob: Doesn't get a chance to speak until she confronts Richard's parents at the boat party, thinking that Richard's mother is making a move on Neil.
  • Unrequited Tragic Maiden: It turns out that she's aware of her status as Neil's holiday fling in the place of his girlfriend Nicole, despite falling in love with him.

     James

James

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/frequententirearabianwildcat_max_1mb_6.gif

Played by: Theo James
A holiday rep and Carli's new boyfriend.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Provided they don't have poo on their noses.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He starts off appearing to be a seemingly friendly and laid-back guy, but is later revealed to be a complete scumbag.
  • Faux Affably Evil: On the surface, he's pretty friendly and charismatic around others, but deep down he's a cruel and aggressive bully who gets off on other people's misery.
  • Hate Sink: He somehow manages to make Donovan look likable by comparison, which is really saying something.
  • Jerkass: The main things he does in the movie is running over Simon's leg with a scooter (pretending it was an accident), conning Simon out of his clothes to humiliate him, threatening Jay (who was just trying to make friends with him) to beat him up, insulting Jane for being fat, and forcing Jay to give him a note so that he can sniff cocaine.
  • Jerk Jock: Threatens to beat Jay up for supposedly liking a gay bar.
  • Lame Comeback: When he sees Jay and Neil's "Pussy Patrol" t-shirts, he tells them that the only pussy they could get is a cat, which is met with silence from even his own lackeys. And even moreso when he repeats it.
  • Kick the Dog: Not once, not twice, but three times, no less (see above).
  • Laser-Guided Karma: He ends up having a small piece of poo stuck to his face near the end, only he doesn't realize it.

     Richard

Can I borrow 20 quid?
Played by: Theo Barklem-Biggs
A loner on holiday that tries freeloading off the boys.
  • Alone Among the Couples: He's wandering around the resort on his own and ends up calling his parents when being alone causes him to have a breakdown.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Doesn't seem quite all there. Neil looks savvy next to him.
  • Straw Loser: He's got no friends, has to beg for money and ends up calling his parents to come to Malia and take him home.

    Nikos

Nikos

Alison's boyfriend.
  • Good Adultery, Bad Adultery: Alison flirting with Will and letting him touch her naked breast isn't treated as unfaithful, but Nikos outright screwing a girl and getting caught by Alison is depicted as unforgivable.
  • Jerkass: He cheated on Alison and tried to charm her into forgiving him, all the while his side-dish was within earshot. When that fails he punches Will, who had nothing to do with the affair.
  • Straw Misogynist: Nikos clearly doesn't hold women's intelligence in high esteem, as he honestly believed he could sweet-talk Alison after she caught him being unfaithful. He also doesn't consider the feelings of the girl he was screwing, as she didn't seem to have been aware he was seeing someone else.

Characters Introduced in the Second Movie

     Katie Evans

Katie Evans

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/katie_0.jpg

Played by: Emily Berrington

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: In spite of the fact that Ben is a complete asshole, she can't help but be physically attracted to him.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: A case could be made for this, as she's stringing Will along while carrying on with Ben in an on/off relationship, despite the fact that she despises him.
  • Character Tics: She likes to give Will friendly punches in the shoulder.
  • Genki Girl: She's highly energetic and gets even moreso with alcohol.
  • Hypocrite: She's constantly acting enlightened and in touch with spirituality yet repeatedly hooks up with Ben despite finding him repellant, demonstrating that she's clearly more governed by her baser urges than she wants others to think.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Gets up close to Will a lot and is always jumping on people, touching them, hugging, etc.
  • The Tease: She is constantly kissing Will, even though she has a thing going on with Ben.
  • Remember the New Guy?: She was at school with Will before he transferred to Rudge Park. She doesn't quite count as a New Old Flame, as they were never together, but Will does mention that she was his first love.

     Ben Thorton-Wild

Ben Thorton-Wild

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ben_38.png

Played by: Freddie Stroma

  • Bourgeois Bohemian: Will identifies Ben as a trust fund baby who is probably travelling on his parents' dime but is an utter hypocrite in his views on wealth.
  • Hate Sink: Not as bad as James from the first film but still a pretty terrible person.
  • Hipster: He's got the whole anti-mainstream thing going for him, especially during his Establishing Character Moment when he thinks that having medical supplies on a tough trek is too touristy.
  • Jerkass: He berates Will for simply trying to introduce himself. Katie doesn't even like him, but can't help but be attracted to him. He's not even an in-your-face Jerk Jock lout so much as more of a university snob.
  • Mr. Fanservice: He shows off his ripped physique for much of the film. He even takes off his shirt at one point to taunt Will, since Will falls under Geek Physiques.
  • Pretty Fly for a White Guy: His dreadlocks. Will calls him out on being white and blond, noting that dreadlocks make him look pretentious.
  • Romantic False Lead: Subverted. He has all the makings of this, but Katie chooses him over Will after he calls them out.
  • Villainy-Free Villain: Doesn't do anything bad, but his rivalry with Will coupled with his arrogance makes it impossible to like him.
  • White Man's Burden: Discussed. In his "The Reason You Suck" Speech, Will pegs Ben as the kind of person who treats developing nations and the people in them as a kind of charity-based safari, showing up supposedly to help out with some kind of development or charitable project but actually just there to get plenty of photos of him acting benevolently towards the impoverished locals to prove what a great guy he is before pissing off back to his parents' luxurious home in Surrey. Will also suggests that said locals have actually pegged what a preening, insincere twat he is and detest him immensely.
