Mewtwo! Latias! Raikou! Onix! Gyarados! Charizard! POWER RANGERS!

Power Rangers: Pokémon Masters, also known in Japan as Elemental Squadron Pokéranger is a potential entry in the Power Rangers and Super Sentai Series that adapts the Pokémon series by Nintendo from Video Game and Anime forms for the Medium Blending Anime/Toku format. Like with previous incarnations Super Sentai and Pokémon before it; this series varies between tickling your funny bone, scaring the living daylights out of you, impressing you with daring displays of badassery, shoving your heart through a woodchipper, plain confusing you out of your mind, and reaffirming your faith in humanity by reminding us we aren't so different.

The Syndicate under the command of Giovanni seeks to capture all the Pokémon on Earth and use their powers to awaken Gigantamax Grimmsnarl in order to take over the world and bend all who oppose them to their will. Forseeing such a day occurring, Professor Samuel Oak and his longtime friend Delia Ketchum assemble together two teams of Pokémon Power Rangers from all over the Pokémon regions to battle the evil Syndicate, its Agent footsoldiers, and their Human-Pokémon hybrid monsters using the powers of the Legendary Poké Zords to combine into the Pokémon Megazord when things get tough. We follow their triumphs, days of joy and happiness, as well as their defeats, times of heartbreak and despair. But the biggest lesson of the show is that we are all strangers until we get to know each other better.

Pokémon Power Ranger Team A consists of:

Pokémon Power Ranger Team B consists of:

"Morphinomenal! We just got... the Tropes Badge!"

  • All Your Powers Combined
  • Calling Your Attacks
  • Elemental Powers: Naturally for a series known in Japan as Gensou Sentai PokkerenjaaElemental Squadron Pokéranger .
    • All Your Powers Combined: Paul along with his Arceus (Foot Gauntlets, Arm Gauntlets, Jetpack Wings and Shoulder Cannons of Pokémon Ultrazord B) Poké Zord.
    • Blow You Away: May and Bonnie along with their Latias (Right Arm and Hand of Pokémon Megazord A) and Diancie (Head of Pokémon Megazord B) Poké Zords.
    • Casting a Shadow: Gary along with his Mewtwo (Foot Gauntlets, Arm Gauntlets and Shoulder Cannons of Pokémon Ultrazord A) Poké Zord.
    • Dishing Out Dirt: Brock and Serena along with their Onix (Right Leg and Foot of Pokémon Megazord A) and Zygarde (Left Arm and Hand of Pokémon Megazord B) Poké Zords.
    • Green Thumb: Brock and Dawn along with their Onix (Right Leg and Foot of Pokémon Megazord A) and Torterra (Right Leg and Foot of Pokémon Megazord B) Poké Zords - again.
    • Making a Splash: Misty and Clemont along with their Gyarados (Left Leg and Foot of Pokémon Megazord A) and Greninja (Left Leg and Foot of Pokémon Megazord B) Poké Zords.
    • Playing with Fire: Ash and N along with their Charizard (Wings, Torso and Head of Pokémon Megazord A) and Emboar (Torso of Pokémon Megazord B) Poké Zords.
    • Power of the Void / Space Master / Time Master: Paul along with his Dialga, Giratina and Palkia (Legendary Creation Poké Zord Battlewing Chariot of Pokémon Ultrazord B) Poké Zords plus his Arceus (Foot Gauntlets, Arm Gauntlets, Jetpack Wings and Shoulder Cannons of Pokémon Ultrazord B) Poké Zord.
    • Shock and Awe: Tracey and Cilan along with their Raikou (Left Arm and Hand of Pokémon Megazord A) and Reshiram (Right Arm and Hand of Pokémon Megazord B) Poké Zords.
    • Weather Manipulation: Max along with his Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza (Legendary Weather Poké Zord Battlewing Chariot of Pokémon Ultrazord A) Poké Zords.
  • Fanservice: Plenty of episodes for the heroes and villains alike to strut their stuff as much as Japanese and American daytime TV standards will allow. But these are not mere Filler as they give the more underutilized characters a chance to shine as well as for the main characters to learn new skills and techniques to help them in Pokémon battles, contests, or the war against the Syndicate.
    • Beach Episode: The beach vacation to Aopulco seems right out of the original Episode 18 - "Beauty and the Beach", but soon turns into Ohranger 23 - "The Final Swimsuit" as Misty and May must go full-on Rambo against the Syndicate's forces who use a Beach Bum Blaziken monster to turn their friends and the crowd's swimwear and clothes into metallic mind controlling armor.
    • Hot Springs Episode: A trip up to a hot spring hotel in the Sinnoh Region helps Ash and N train their Charizard and Emboar new skills in fire attacks with the help of Misty's Gyarados and Clemont's Greninja to combine fire and water attacks.
  • Finishing Move
    • Energy Ball: All Megazords and Ultrazords come equipped with the ability to use Aura Sphere as a final finishing move.
    • Laser Blade: All Megazords come equipped with an Energy Sword to slice and dice the monsters being thrown their way.
  • Free-Range Children: Just like in the games and anime before, this is a Justified Trope as the Rangers stay together and have their Pokémon to protect them in case they run into trouble. That said, there is a Nurse Joy and an Officer Jenny on hand to help out.
  • Humongous Mecha:
  • Improbable Infant Survival: Averted hard as even Max and Bonnie prove they are willing to jump into the fray of battle and even sacrifice themselves to save their leader during the final battle arc. Don't worry, they come Back from the Dead at the end.
  • In the Name of the Moon
  • Make My Monster Grow: Using a Golden Dark Ball like a grenade, any of Marcus' monsters can detonate it upon death to grow to giant size.
  • Monster of the Week: Unlike monsters of previous Super Sentai series, these monsters are Played for Horror as Marcus conducts fusion experiments on unlucky Agents and any Pokémon they have stolen to combine them together in order to terrorize the Pokémon World.
  • Mooks: The faceless Agents of the Syndicate.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: In protecting Ash and N from Giovanni during the finale, Jessie kills her boss's favorite Pokémon Genesect before dying. Ash sees Giovanni tearing up and heartbroken as Genesect lies dying as the situation reminds him of how he was with Pikachu the episode prior. At his heart is a sad little boy like Ash - all before Giovanni goes berserk with power and orders Gigantamax Grimmsnarl to merge with him to kill Ash and N.
  • Psycho Rangers: The structure of the Syndicate is laid out like an evil inversion of the Rangers.
    • Big Bad: Giovanni.
    • The Brute: Any of the Human-Pokémon Hybrid monsters Marcus creates for the day to sic upon the Rangers.
    • Both Jessie and Cassidy fill this role whilst leading their respective Teams.
    • The Dragon: The Iron-Masked Marauder.
    • Evil Genius: Marcus for the main Syndicate - followed by James and Butch filling this role in their respective Teams.
    • Quirky Miniboss Squad: Comes in flavors of Strike Force A - Jessie, James and Meowth (Team Rocket); and Strike Force B - Butch and Cassidy (Team Portal).
  • Redemption Earns Life: As a follow-up to the trope below, once Grimmsnarl Giovanni is killed along with Ash and N, the latter are presented to the spirits of the Legendary Creation Pokémon - Arceus, Dialga, Giratina and Palkia - in Fluffy Cloud Heaven. Being told that their time has not come yet, Ash and N are resurrected Back from the Dead alongside their teammates, their Pokémon and Zords, and even Teams Rocket and Portal. This is foreshadowed as Jessie had died to protect them.
  • Redemption Equals Death: As a prelude to the trope above, Jessie dies protecting Ash and N from Giovanni and Genesect whilst managing to kill Genesect in the process. Her last words are expressing her regret that she didn't adopt Meowth and get with James before this moment - even as Ash and N beg her to hang on for them.
  • Tonight, Someone Dies: An ongoing story arc up to the International Pokémon League tournaments is Paul's opening up to the Snowpoint City gym leader Candice. He actually ends up getting invited to dinner along with the other Rangers of Teams A and B - and finds a new family in Candice's parents and siblings. Towards the end of the tournament arc, Paul and Candice are about to go serious even though she knows their secret. But after another Ranger battle, a dying agent crawls from the wreckage of battle and fires a laser into Candice's back. The Rangers obliterate the Agent and Paul remains at Candice's side as she dies in his arms. With her heartbroken parents' begging him to not let the Syndicate win, Paul promises so and breaks down crying into Ash and N's arms as the latter two vow to avenge this romance destroyed by Giovanni's forces.
  • Transformation Sequence: The Rangers' morphing sequences during the generation of their uniforms would make Sailor Moon blush!
  • Transformation Trinket: The Rangers' Legendary Poké Balls with a call of "Poké Baller!".
  • Walking the Earth: Part of the premise is the journey through the Pokémon World regions, their towns and cities - and earning badges from gym battles and ribbons from Pokémon Contests in order to make it into the International Pokémon League tournament.
