    The characters in general
  • Funny Animal: Everyone in this universe is one. Notably, R.A.M. is a robotic raccoon, Jake is a red fox, Jeanette a red panda, and Bud is a dog.
  • No Full Name Given: Almost everyone is only referred to by their first names in the comics. The main cast's last names were revealed in a random sketch Raf posted.
  • Tuft of Head Fur: Jake and Jeanette have full hair different from their fur. Bud has a tuft of fur at the top of his head resembling hair.

Main Crew

    R.A.M.

A robotic raccoon Jake purchased. She doesn't understand much about being alive, but she gets along well with everyone. Designation R3-40.
  • Abnormal Allergy: She's revealed in "Status Quo" to be allergic to Ali while organic, despite the latter being an alien creature from another dimension.
  • A.I.-cronym: R.A.M.'s name includes dots, suggesting her name is truly an acronym. Eventually confirmed in "Robots Like Her", as she introduces herself as "Random Access Memory".
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: "Evil R.A.M." reveals that she has a literal good-evil slider in her back compartment. Jake curiously flips it, causing her eyes to turn red and her to begin maniacally plotting to start a Robot War.
  • Ambiguously Bi: When "reverse fossilized" she finds both Jake and Jeannette very attractive. In "Rescue", she also finds TAE-KO hot. The "ambiguous" part comes from insufficient information on whether it was solely due to being temporarily organic.
    • Confirmed on the Pride month page, where her clothes turn into a bi flag, though the description says she's only attracted to other robots in her normal state.
  • An Arm and a Leg: Jeanette accidentally rips her arm off in "Broken Arm". As she's a robot, this doesn't injure her, though she has difficulty reattaching it.
  • Color-Coded Speech: While it's still black, her dialogue is differentiated from everyone else, as it's surrounded by brackets. While in 'evil mode' her dialogue is wrapped in double brackets instead.
  • Extendable Arms: She modifies herself in "Mods Are Fun" to have a "Super Arm". She admits she doesn't know what to do with it besides maybe cleaning the roof.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: In "Ram is a Robot", she incorrectly uses translation software and gets stuck trying in vain to ask a caller in perfect Spanish to consult a manual to help her.
  • Inconsistent Coloring: While its colour is always the same, her tail changes in length and size quite often in comics, never with an explanation.
  • Kaleidoscope Eyes: Her eyes are naturally green, but turn yellow when she gets annoyed or surprised, and red when she's angry or in evil mode.
  • Non-Mammalian Hair: Despite being a robotic Funny Animal, she has prominent faux-purple navy hair.
  • No-Sell: She's completely immune to Ali's biting in "RAM and the Portal", as she's a robot with no sense of pain.
  • Robo Romance: Jake tries to program her and Stacy in "RAM and the Spaceship's AI" to get along. He accidentally overdoes it, and the result is both openly declaring their love for each other.
  • Stomach of Holding: She's revealed to have a stomach compartment that Ali rides around inside of in "Ali the Alien". R.A.M. claims it's warm and more spacious than it seems.
  • Super-Strength: In "Ram is a Robot", she's depicted effortlessly carrying two large cubes that both have "100% Tungsten" and "2 Ton" written on them.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: She puts on Bud's hoodie in "RAM's Clothes" when she's unable to find her normal outfit. Then it's revealed why: Jake's wearing it.

    Jake Red
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jake_ref.png
R.A.M.'s purchaser and Jeanette's boyfriend. He's implied to be the head of his team, and serves as The Engineer for the team.
  • Afraid of Doctors: He's terrified of dentists after having watched Jackie roleplay as a Depraved Dentist when they were young children.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: He seems to be this for the group, as he has invented a variety of machines (including a dimensional portal device, Translator Collar, and whatever patent paid for the ship), helped fix the engine in "R.A.M.'s Facial Recognition System", and was able to review R.A.M.'s code in "Bug".
  • Has a Type: He seems to favour yellow-orange coloured fur. Jeanette is his girlfriend, and it so happens she's one of the only characters to fit that colourscheme and the only one Jake's shown genuine interest in. In "RAM 2.0", he also claims T43-K0 is hot despite her appearance being identical to R.A.M.'s but orange instead of grey.
  • Manchild: He’s the oldest one of the main crewnote  and runs his own interplanetary shipping business. Despite this, he still regularly visits and speaks with his mother, who dotes on and scolds him like a mother would with a young child. He's also shown to visit a dentist meant for children, who doesn't find his visiting odd whatsoever.
  • Not Hyperbole: He claims to have very slow reflexes in "RAM's Joke". In the same comic, he takes 5 years to react to R.A.M.'s Screamer Prank.
  • Not So Above It All: Despite generally being friendly to R.A.M., he occasionally partakes in Bud's pranks, with him also snickering at R.A.M. in a maid dress in "Ram maid" and him being the one who told R.A.M. to jump into the water in "Beach Episode", resulting in her sinking.
  • Only Sane Man: While Bud is The Lancer and Jeanette is often The Ditz, he's typically the one aware of what's happening and how to "solve" the team's problems.
  • Through a Face Full of Fur: He's shown prominently blushing in "RAM's Clothes" when R.A.M. stumbles across him wearing her clothes. He does this again in "RAM 2.0" upon admitting he finds T43-K0 attractive.
  • Wholesome Crossdresser: He puts on R.A.M.'s clothes in "RAM's Clothes", but gets caught by R.A.M., much to his embarrassment. After a moment's surprise, she says he looks great.

    Bud Ross

Debut: "RAM Maid"
Jake's friend and a member of his crew. He often serves as The Prankster of the team and The Lancer to Jake.

    Jeanette Rothenberg

Jake's girlfriend, and sometimes The Ditz on the team.

Recurring Characters

    Stacy
The virtual assistant on board the computer. Her and R.A.M. don't get along well.
  • The Rival: She and R.A.M. don't get along whatsoever. In "Power Outage", Stacy even turns off the power to the entire ship just to annoy R.A.M., who was charging at the time.
  • Robo Romance: Jake tries to program her and R.A.M. in "RAM and the Spaceship's AI" to get along. He accidentally overdoes it, and the result is both openly declaring their love for each other.
  • Sapient Ship: The main computer for the team starship.
  • The Voice: Stacy doesn't have an actual body, and is merely heard as a robotic voice aboard the ship.

    Ali
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ali_ram.PNG
R.A.M.'s pet alien cat from another dimension. It mostly just sleeps.

    Jake's Mother
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jakes_mother_ram.PNG
Debut: "The Bed"
Jake's mother. She's on somewhat good terms with her son and his friends, but she can be a little smothering.

    Jackie Red
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rtr_jackie.PNG
Debut: "Jackie"
Jake's sister, a hardened criminal who spends a lot of time in prison.
  • Affably Evil: She casually admits to leaking, robbery, and scamming, and she regularly breaks out of prison, but she's noticeably well-mannered and even endearing to her brother.
  • Foul Fox: She's a red fox just like Jake, and yet unlike him she devotes her time to crime, casually admitting to robbery, scamming, and leaking.
  • Innocently Insensitive: In "Crime And More Crimes", she tells R.A.M. she's murdered 27 people. Upon noticing the latter's horror, she plays it off as a joke and says she mostly just destroyed robots and not real people, which does nothing to calm R.A.M.'s nerves.
  • List of Transgressions: Her full list of crimes in the footnotes to page 67 includes: bank robbery, extortion, preventing the signing of the law banning pineapple on pizza, arson, damaging the Martian ozone layer, suspected of causing WWI, destroying a space ranger robot, selling Kinder Surprise eggs in the United States, and littering.
  • Remember the New Guy?: She's supposedly always been Jake's endearing sister, but she's only briefly mentioned on page 46, before appearing in person nineteen pages later.
  • Slasher Smile: She gives one to R.A.M. in "Crime And More Crimes" while joking about having murdered 27 people.

    TAE-KO
Debut: "RAM 2.0"
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tae_ko_ram.PNG
R.A.M.'s replacement off the upgrader. Designation T43-K0.
  • Informed Attractiveness: Both Jake and R.A.M. find her hot, despite her design being merely an orange-coloured variant of R.A.M..
  • Nice Gal: All of her mannerisms are merely polite words and obeying what Jake says to do. It's suggested by R.A.M. in "Flirting" that this is because TAE-KO is too recent to have developed a full personality.
  • Palette Swap: Her design is identical to R.A.M.'s save for her orange colouring.
  • Space Clothes: She wears the third variant, with a reflective one-piece accompanied by some shoulder pads.
