The Nazorak Empire

The Nazorak are roach-like beings in the world of Klaanon. Their name comes from the word Nazi and the Finish word "torakka" which means cockroach. They are a militarist group and part of the Alliance, and are against the Bio-Clan. They also have many war machines and a huge army. Nazorak society doesn't use names, instead they use numbers as identifiers.

Tropes associated with all Nazoraks

  • A Nazi by Any Other Name: Their name is basically the word Nazi with "-rak" in the end.
  • Artistic License – Biology: Nazoraks have about as much to do with actual cockroaches as Godzilla has to do with dinosaurs. "Roach" simply describes their appearance.
  • Scary Dogmatic Aliens: Besides the Nazi parallels, their society takes a note or two from communism. Religion is forbidden and work is the basis of their entire society.
  • Cyborg: Plenty. Colonel 437 is their best known cyborg in the nazorak society.
  • Insectoid Aliens: They are called "roaches" by the heroes.
  • Low Culture, High Tech: Nazorak have huge variety of high-tech weapons, vehicles and all that, but their culture is degenerate to the point where they don't even have names
  • Superior Species: Nazorak ideology says that the Nazorak are superior species in the universe.
  • You Are Number 6: Nazorak use numbers as their names. Commanding officers and scientists are usually triple digit designations, with the highest being 001., whereas Mooks are all four-digit numbers.

000

  • Hive Queen: 000 is basically a big egg laying machine.

General 001

  • Affably Evil: In a strange way. He is responsible for massacres and genocides, but seems to genuinely respect anyone who has the guts to face him.
  • Ambition Is Evil: He will stop at nothing until the Clan's island is his.
  • Big Bad: The official leader of the Alliance and one of the four or five candidates.
  • Cool Old Guy: The oldest known nazorak, right after 000.
  • Four-Star Badass: He isn't the kind of a general who sits safely in a command room, as he actually enjoys the glory of battle.
  • Pride: Possibly his defining character trait, but it doesn't get in the way of his military tactics.
001: Only a fool underestimates his enemy in the field of battle.
  • The Stoic: He is very good at suppressing his rage, though it sometimes shows through.
  • You Have Failed Me: As Nazorak are very, very expendable, it takes only a minor screwup to be fed to the larvae.
  • Worthy Opponent: He is obsessed with defeating the Clan on the field of battle.

Admiral 002

  • Artificial Limbs: A harpoon for a leg.
  • Captured Super-Entity: While Tronie seems like a fish, under the surface there is a powerful and terrifying telepath. Still, Admiral imprisoned him in a fishbowl and placed him on his desk as a trophy.
  • Cool Boat: SS Ironwing, the Nazorak Fleet's glorious flagship which is basically made of guns. The simultaneous firing of all its guns is possibly the closest equivalent the Matoran Universe has for a WMD.
  • The Dragon: To 001's Big Bad.
  • Four-Star Badass: Stared down some of the Clan's best fighters on the deck of SS Iron Wing in a Mexican Standoff armed with an exploding harpoon.
  • Noodle Incident: How he lost his leg.
  • Rule of Two: The second of the nazorak brothers, Admiral 002 possesses the biggest gun on the nazorak armada, the S.S. Ironwing, while 001 is in command of the ground forces.

Minister 005

Doctor 006

Archagent 007

Minister 008 of Interior Hive Affairs

The Blue Hands

Scientist 273

Colonel 437

Captain 666

  • Hero Killer: Kills Toworu, who is not an important character but a Bio-Klaani member and Toa.

Staff Sergeant 1034

  • Classified Information: Being in charge of a great deal of Nazorak paperwork, Staff Sergeant seems to have some classified knowledge of several secret Nazorak projects.
  • King Incognito: On the outside, he seems like a regular Nazorak, but given the fact that he was negotiable in the Hostage Situation of S.S. Ironwing, it seems obvious that in some way he is extremely valuable for the empire.
  • Perp Sweating: After being taken hostage by the Bio-Clan, he was interrogated by Matoro and Killjoy. And the latter was not gentle about it.

The Puppet Theatre

Avde

Avde is a strange and terrifying creature of shadows walking the Earth using the disguise of a Ta-Matoran. He entered the playing field at the dawn of the Alliance's forming and became an advisor, strategist and "the common benefactor" of the Alliance. He has built a dark network of "friends, friends of friends and enemies" in order to keep informed and to stretch his influence everywhere. He was the one who persuaded a single, still unknown member of the Clan to betray his or her friends and to let the Avhrak Feterra in.Avde's ultimate goal is to gather the shards of Nimda, but not for himself. Avde's faceless and voiceless employer is even bigger a mystery than himself.

  • Affably Evil: He might be creepy and working with some of the biggest monsters in-story, but he is always polite and friendly while doing so.
  • Big Bad: One of the four or five candidates.
  • The Chessmaster: He thinks of everything as a giant game of chess. And we are all his pawns.
    • The Dragon: ... or is he just a pawn of his "employer"?
  • Demonic Possession: The parasites, or his "seeds of fear".
  • Hidden Agenda Villain: He wants Nimda for his employer. That's pretty much all that has been told.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He gets people to do his errands for him simply by talking to them in a friendly manner.
  • Mind Virus: The "parasites" he distributes to people he's in telepathic connection with... or is it that simple, after all?
  • Stepford Smiler: The manipulative kind.
  • Will Not Tell a Lie: Avde claims he never lies, even though this is questioned by Makuta Nui.

The Marionette

The Nihilist

The Ventriloquist

The Immolation

The Scarecrow

The Iron Maiden

The Employer

  • The Ghost: Never seen but exerts a lot of influence.

Makuta Abzumo and his followers

Makuta Abzumo

The Makuta who, in cooperation with Makuta Nui, created the Nazorak species as a perfect army to take control of the Matoran Universe. However soon after the empire's birth, Abzumo left it alone to let it grow on its own. Soon after the Alliance's forming, Abzumo returned to his children, seeking the death of the Clan - and the Nimda itself.Abzumo is a complete and total psychopath with no value for any kind of life, only seeing it as fuel for his scientific experiments.

  • Arch-Enemy: To Makuta Nui. Also to Matoro, after indirectly destroying his life.
  • Big Bad: Another viable candidate.
  • Light Is Not Good: He has a strange obsession with religious iconography and angelic themes as well claiming to actually being a god himself despite being entirely evil.
  • Depraved Bisexual: His disturbingly flirtatious way of speaking with Manu. It's quite likely that he does this mainly to freak people out.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Makuta Nui. The whole character of Abzumo can be seen as a version of Manu if he had chosen a different path.
  • Faux Affably Evil: He hasn't shown any redeemable traits at all in the two years of Klaanon's length, but he is an endless spring of dark humour.
  • For Science!: One of his motivations, although a really weak one.
  • A God Am I: As it turns out, he wholeheartedly believes he is Ath.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: His glee in seeing his enemies suffer borders on childlike excitement.
  • Red Baron: "The Archangel's Architect", or lately, "The Purple Piper".
  • Sssssnake Talk: How he talkssss. Admittedly it tendssssss to disssssappear whenever he getssss sssseriousss.
  • Staying Alive: Apparently falling into the sea inside a damaged airship of horror doesn't kill him.

Grey Matter

  • Punch-Clock Villain: In contrast to his sadistic master, Grey Matter is friendly and harmless.

Dark Engineers

  • Nothing Is Scarier: The Engineers in general act like walking and talking soulless three-dimensional silhouettes.

The Archangel

The Seraph

Cherubim

Skadi Mercenaries

General Gaggulabio

The leader of the Alliance's skakdi mercenaries.

  • Affably Evil: He's portrayed in a more sympathetic light than most Alliance leaders. Also, he has his moments of funny snark at 001.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Matoro the Blacksnow.
  • Badass Normal: He has no specific special abilities or powers, but he's a competent and (in his own way) charming leader of his own group of mercenaries who has managed to get quite capable underlings under his command, and caused great havoc on the island. Though he seems to be able to talk to rocks.
  • Genre Blindness: He thinks he can defeat Matoro the Blacksnow, his nemesis. Well, he can't.
  • Impractically Fancy Outfit: While clothes are not completely outlandish in this world, the suit Gaggulabio uses on board XMS Donovan serves no practical purpose whatsoever.
  • Man of Wealth and Taste: According to himself, at least.

Metorakk

Gaggulabio's number two and one of the most prolonged companions.
  • Ax-Crazy: He ripped Deleva in half.
  • Blood Knight: He always seems to enjoy fighting and killing people.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: He enjoys slaughtering villages full of innocent people just to kill time.
  • Co-Dragons: To Gaggulabio once Amazua hits the scene.
  • Empowered Badass Normal: Later gains a suit of power armour to match 955's.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: He seems to fail to understand Amazua's lack of thirst for violence.
  • Foil: He and Amazua seem to be foil for each other. While both are mercenaries with powerful sets of armors and weapons and utterly share the occupational goal to bring Bio-Clan down, Metorakk spots more brutal and violent (or all out Ax-Crazy) demeanor spending his free time slaughtering innocent villages out of boredom and finds the threat of death the best way to control others, where as Amazua seems to be far more mentally balanced an all out more reasonable and doesn't like spreading pointless death or command troops with aggressive grip simply because he doesn't find it amusing.

Amazua

A mercenary who was recruited to Gaggulabio's group to help the latter to hunt matoran pirate captain Notfun, but skakdi general decided to keep him in his ranks after he proved his skills.
  • Artificial Limbs: Both his arms starting from forearms onwards.
  • Being Personal Isn't Professional: His attitude towards his job as a mercenary.
  • Co-Dragons: With Metorakk for Gaggulabio.
  • Crazy-Prepared: "There are lots of people who want to kill me. But there are even more things that can kill me."
  • Everybody Has Standards: He prefers to himself as a "mercenary" rather than an "assassin". He has also openly expressed his dislike of skakdi's pleasure for needless brutality and bloodshed.
  • Foil: To Metorakk. He is on the same (evil) side, but has no taste for more bloodshed than is needed for the mission.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Avde has said that Amazua's nickname is "a dead word from [his] dead people's dead language."
  • The Nicknamer: He gave each of his matoran subordinate nicknames because he couldn't tell them apart from each other.

The Amates

A group of former pirate matoran who served under Notfun, but were taken by Amazua after the former assaulted their ship. Right now they consist of eight different matoran: De-matoran Argo, Onu-matoran Gatta, Po-matoran Paku, Le-matoran Lyan, Ga-matoran Nany, Bo-matoran Tokka, Fe-matoran Kiro, and Ko-matoran Koli.

  • Characterization Marches On: In their latest chapters they've evolved vastly from how they were portrayed in their first appearance.
  • Improbable Weapon User: Lyan's weapons of choice are yo-yos made out of metal.
  • Informed Attribute: They became subject to this in early chapters they were in, which were rather short, most of their personalities and attributes were told to the readers rather than shown. With the group being made of at least eight matoran, readers often had a hard time telling them apart.
    • Not until Operation: Dang it did they start to get more screentime as individual characters. Also before that, a full drawing of the whole Amates cast was released, which was seen as a good step for readers to finally start memorizing them.
  • Meaningful Name: Koli is named after the highest hill of Pohjois-Karjala in Finland.

NINJA Squad

  • Ascended Meme: They are basically the "SUDDENLY, X" meme personified.

Bruizer Brotherz

A pair of Vatuka, elemental rock creatures hired by Gaggulabio as his bodyguards. Apparently Gaggulabio can (or thinks he can) talk to them.

The Zyglak

Guechex

A Zyglak warrior who, frustrated by the treatment of his kind by the rest of the world, decided to raise an army of to fight both the Alliance and Bio-Clan.
  • Anti-Villain: Genuinely hopes for a better future for the Zyglaks and his family, and would do anything for his people's welfare.
  • Battle Couple: Husband of Alinnel and a father, and they have stayed together through thick and thin.
  • Captain Ersatz: A blatant one to Che Guevera.
  • Icy Blue Eyes: The same eye colour as Alinnel. There's a reason why they were nicknamed "the cold eyes" by others.
  • Rousing Speech: It's almost comedic in many speeches he can give within five minutes.

Alinnel

A Zyglak warrior.

Mei

A young Zyglak girl raised by Guechex and Alinnel.
  • Happily Adopted: As Bionicle characters don't seem to have biological reproduction, this is most likely the case. Not that she seems to mind.

Vasell

Relatively young but serious and professional Zyglak warrior and one of the more notable members in Guechex' rebellion.
  • Samurai: Strives to be one, or at least the closest cultural equivalent, from among the Southern Toa. Due to Zyglaks' hatred of everything to do with Matoran and Toa, this creates a lot of conflicting emotions.
  • The Stoic: At least when not working with Olthal and Welsix.

Olthal and Welsix

Two cheerful elderly Zyglak warriors and the oldest among Guechex' Ragtag Bunch of Misfits, a fact which they will constantly bring up.
  • Affably Evil: They treat shooting various Matoran bystanders as practically just another day at the office, yet still act like two nice if lax and slightly senile old gentlemen who wonder what souvenirs to bring home to their grandchildren.
  • Friendly Sniper: If you are a Zyglak that is.
  • Sour Supporter: Most of their dialogue is practically composed of commenting about either Guechex' naivety or complaining how the stew is no good.
