Seven Heavens

The Seven Heavens, also known as Heaven, Paradise and the "perch" (by demons), is one of the countless parallel dimensions that exist in the Cosmos. Found by the archangels on the Third Day of Creation, this cosmic pocket was modified to house the angelic castes and Yahweh's throne, from where they would observe the evolution of the Universe and its inhabitants.

    In General

  • Civil War: Since the birth of the Sacred Child in 1 AD, the Seven Heavens are divided in two main factions: the Loyalists, who supports Michael's genocide campaing againts humanity, and the New Rebels, who stands with Gabriel to protect mankind. There were other internal conflicts in the heavens since the dawn of the Seventh Day, like Lucifer's Rebellion and the Revolt of Sodom and Gomorrah.

  • Heaven: The Seven Heavens are a seven layered dimension home to the angelic race and the throne of Yahweh.

  • Heaven Above: Many characters throughout the franchise refer to the Seven Heavens being located "above" them. The demons of Sheol pejoratively calls heaven their "perch"; angels say they will "ascend" when they return to heaven; Nimrod, in *A Batalha do Apocalipse* believed that by building an immense tower, he could reach heaven and battle God and his angels.

    The Seven Layers

Heaven is divided in seven layers. Six of them were delivered by the archangels to six angelic castes after they finished their tasks in Creation (only the Elohins would continue in the common universe), while the seventh layer, Mount Tsafon, would serve as the throne of Yawheh.

Tartarus, the First Heaven

The First Heaven, also called Tartarus, is the first layer of the Seven Heavens. It serves as home to the Ishins and, during the Civil War, as a base for the New Rebels, led by the archangel Gabriel.

  • Elemental Plane: As the layer of the Ishim, elemental angels, Tartarus is divided in four provinces based in the four classical elements: the Citadel of Fire, the Temple of Thunder, the Castle of Waves and the Palace of Sand.

  • Meaningful Name: Tartarus (in Greek: Τάρταρος, transl.: Tartaros), in Greek mythology, is personified by one of the primordial gods, born from Chaos (although some authors consider him brother of Chaos). Just as Gaia is the personification of Earth and Uranus the personification of Heaven, Tartarus is the personification of the Underworld.

  • Volcano Lair: The Citadel of Fire inside the largest volcano in the First Heaven, Neptunia. Inside the Citadel is the Temple of Harmony, where the archangel Gabriel spent most of his time meditating.

Gehenna, the Second Heaven

The Second Heaven, also called Gehenna by angels and Purgatory by humans, is the second layer of the Seven Heavens. It serves as the home of the Hashmalim and as a place of atonement for human souls.

  • Creepy Cave: Unlike the other layers, Gehenna does not have a firmament. The layer is actually a gigantic cave, with the ceiling so high that it is impossible to see it through the clouds. Its mountains are actually stalagmites that conects with the stalactites on the roof.

  • Prison Dimension: More like a prison layer. Besides the role of keeping the souls of humans in judgment, the Gehenna also houses the Jail of Fear, a fortress made to hold rogue angels and the most dangerous of demons. After Ablon captured Metatron, Lucifer dediced to lock him there so he would not turn into a martyr for his cause.

  • Purgatory and Limbo: After the banishment of Lucifer and the creation of Hell, the Hashamlins of Gehenna remodeled their layer into a place of judgment for deceased human souls. The caste would judge souls to see if they were worthy of the Third Heaven, Paradise, if they needed to spend more time in Gehenna to atone for their sins, or if they were irredeemable and needed to be cast into Hell throughout the Lethe river.

Celestial Eden, the Third Heaven

The Third Heaven, also known as Heavenly Eden, is the third layer of the Seven Heavens. It is reserved for human souls who were judged to be good and righteous in their earthly lives and now deserve a place to rest in peace for eternity.

  • Afterlife Antechamber: the entrance to this layer is called Elysium. Soon after resurrecting, the archangel Raphael sealed off the rest of the layer and created Elysium to allow newly arrived souls to purge any feelings of guilt or remorse before definitively entering the Third Heaven. Apparently, it appears different to each human, as in case of Rachel Arsen, in which the Elysium resembled her old childhood home.

  • Celebrities Hang Out in Heaven: It's said that the Sacred Child (who is this universe version of Jesus Christ) presides over a council of saints in the Third Heaven.

  • Go into the Light: humans souls arrive at the Third Heaven by the Tunnel of Death, a vortex (cosmic connections between the Spiritual World and other dimensions) that appears exactly when the mortal body dies.

  • The Promised Land: this layer is destined to humans that lived rightful lives and in death deserves eternal peace and joy. It is described as a wonderful land, full of fruit trees, hills, mountains, valleys, plains and forests of copious beauty, where complete harmony reigns. There are numerous spiritual colonies - cities where the law of charity prevails - spread throughout this layer, guided by evolved souls, such as the spirits of saints, martyrs and prophets.

Acheron, the Fourth Heaven

The Fourth Heaven, also called Acheron, is the fourth layer of the Seven Heavens. It's the cherubim's headquartes, filled with fortresses and training grounds.

  • All Your Base Are Belong to Us: In 1614 AD, the New Rebels invaded and conquered the Castle of Light, Acheron main fortress, from the Loyalists of Michael.

  • Big Fancy Castle: The Castle of Light is Acheron main fortress, a glorious building, made of gold, marble and light stone. It is practically inaccessible by land and sea, but the angels can access it as they can fly.

Celestia, the Fifth Heaven

The Fifth Heaven, also called Celestia, is the fifth layer of the Seven Heavens. It is the angelic capital, from where the archangels rule the celestial race and the rest of Creation.

  • Apocalypse How: Around 200.000 BC, Celestia was attacked by Enuma, the last of the Monster Gods seeking revenge for his kin's death. While the creature were defeated in the end, it left Yahweh's Valley, its main city, completly destroyed.

  • Didn't Think This Through: During the construction of the sacred cities, the Ishim noticed that beneath the foundations of the Celestial Palace there was a cosmic rift that could lead to any place in the Universe. They tried to advise the archangels to close the rift, but the firstborn refused and decided to keep it open for their personal use. Eventually, around 200,000 BC, the Monster God Enuma invaded the Fifth Heaven through the rift, causing much destruction in his path and almost killing the archangels if it weren't for Metatron interference.

Raqui'a, the Sixth Heaven

Mount Tsafon, the Seventh Heaven

    Yahweh

God, also called the Mighty and the Splendent, is the creator of the entire Universe and everything on it.

  • Above the Gods: In this universe, Yahweh is the true God of all existence, as he was responsible for creating the Cosmos. All other gods of the various religions and mythologies are merely disembodied human spirits who gained powers through the worship of mortals.

  • Eldritch Abomination: Yahweh is from the primordial void before existence called Proto-Universe and so he doesn't have any form or dimension. Even the archangels, his first creations, can't describe his being.

  • Forged by the Gods: In order for the archangels to be able to fight Tehom and her Monster Gods, Yahweh forged five flaming swords and granted them unique abilities, such as Raphael's sword that can revive spiritual beings (something considered impossible) and Uziel's sword that grants its victim a painless death.

  • Have You Seen My God?: After giving part of his essence to humanity, thus creating the souls, Yahweh decided to rest, seeing that His creation was complete. He gave control of the universe to the archangels and ascended to Mount Tsafon, the Seventh Heaven, where He fell asleep. Since the dawn of the Seventh Day (from 200,000 BC to the present day), God remained absent from the main events that occurred on the Cosmo.

  • God: The supreme creator of the Universe, the angels and archangels. His final act before going to rest was to give part of his divine essence to humanity, granting free will to his most beloved creation.

  • God Is Good: The angels and archangels describe Yahweh as being the source of good, compassion and beauty.

  • God of Light: Yahweh is constantly referred to as the God of Light, with one of his names being the "Splendent". In the Proto-Universe, He was associated with light while Tehom, The Anti-God, embodied darkness.

  • I Have Many Names: The angels and the archangels call Him Yahweh, but He is also known as the Mighty, the Splendent, Father, the Creator and the Lord. Among the atlanteans he was called Darsha.

  • Light 'em Up: In the Proto-Universe, Yahweh was the bearer of light, while Tehom, His opposite force, was associated with darkness. After He defeated her in the Primal Battles, Yahweh took control of both.

  • The Ghost: God's active role in the Universe included its creation and shaping, giving life to angels so they could help Him. After humanity naturally evolved on Eden (Earth), He saw that His creation was growing on its own and decided to rest in the dawn of the Seventh Day. His final act was to give mankind souls, so that they could have free will and would live after the physical death of their bodies. Since then, Yahweh has been sleeping in Mont Tsafon, the seventh layer of Heaven, and the archangels are in control of the Universe, including Earth. In the first book, Gabriel says to Ablon that God isn't resting, but He desire omnipresence and became one with the Cosmos, dissipating His holy essence throughout the Universe and living within His creations.

  • The Omnipresent: After bestowing souls upon mankind, Yahweh ascended to the Seventh Heaven, and there He dissipated His divine essence among all of His creations, effectively becoming one with the Universe. All angels and archangels except Gabriel believed that God had fallen asleep in the Seventh Heaven.

  • Time Abyss: Yahweh, along with His antithesis Tehom, the Darkness, existed since before the birth of the Universe, in a state of reality absent from time, space and matter. Because of the properties of this Proto-Universe, where the concept of time and causality do not apply, it can be assumed that Yahweh has always existed and was not "created" or "born".

Archangels

    In General

The Archangels, also called Princes, Firstborns and Giants, were Yahweh's first creations, born even before the creation of the Universe, to help him defeat Tehom in the Primeval Battles. They make up the highest hierarchy in the Seven Heavens, responsible for governing the angels and taking control of the Cosmos after the Almighty falls asleep.

  • Bash Brothers: Together, the five archangels fought Tehom and her spawn even before the Universe was born. Billions of years later, they fought together again against Enuma, the last of the Children of Tehom.

  • Celestial Paragons and Archangels: As the most powerful beings in the Universe, the five archangels rule the Seven Heavens and the entire angelic race. Each of them was named patrons of five of the seven angelic castes: Michael of the seraphim, Gabriel of the ishim, Lucifer of the hashmalim, Raphael of the ophanim, and Uziel of the cherubim. The elohim were organized by an assembly of angels and the Malakins governed themselves in their sacred libraries.

  • Dying Race: Having only five individuals in the entire existence, the archangels could already be considered an endangered species. After the conclusion of the Battle of Armageddon, only Raphael was alive, confined at the entrance to the Third Heaven.

  • Flaming Sword: To fight Tehom and her Monster Gods, Yahweh gave each of the archangels a mystical sword whose blade burns in flames.

  • One-Gender Race: All five archangels are identified as males.

  • Sibling Rivalry: Despite being family, the five archangels have a history of betrayal and rivalry. The most prominent example is Lucifer, who manipulated his other brothers and waged war against them, even going so far as to order Raphael's death.

  • Siblings Share the Throne: Downplayed. The five archangels (four after Lucifer's banishment) rule the Seven Heavens and all the angels, but among them Michael is the most powerful and eldest, so he commands his other brothers and, by extension, the rest of Creation.

  • Time Abyss: All five archangels were created by Yahweh in the Protouniverse, a state of reality before the existence of time and matter, that is, before the creation of the Universe.

Michael, the Prince of the Angels

"I am above honor, renegade. I am greater than any agreement or promise. I am unique, absolute. I am the word, the order. I dictate my own laws and my intention."
'Michael to Ablon
The Prince of Angels and the Firstborn. Michael is the most powerful being in the Universe after God went to sleep, becoming the de facto ruler of the Heavens and beyond. After humanity received a soul, he became jealous and started a series of catastrophes to destroy them.
  • A God Am I: Being the oldest of the archangels and one of the most powerful beings in the Universe, Michael already considered himself something akin to a God. However, as seen by his Godhood Seeker plan, he knew he could not declare himself one until he absorbed the soul of the strongest human in the world.

  • Adaptational Villainy: While the Bible and other sources portrays the archangel Michael as a force of good and the commander of the heavenly host angainst the armies of Lucifer, in the Filhos do Eden tetralogy Michael is a ruthless tyrant that believes humans are unworthy of existence and dedicates his time to exterminate t

  • Anti-Villain: In the beginning of the Universe, Michael, alongside his brothers, helped God with the creation of the Cosmos, and was a fair leader and a loving brother. However, because of Lucifer's manipulations, Michael began to hate humankind, starting his Guilt-Free Extermination War against them.

  • Archangel Michael: Michael, the Prince of Angels, is the firstborn and the most powerful of the archangels. He was born before the universe and helped God to fight against Tehom, the Darkness. After God fell asleep, he took control of the Seven Heavens and is determined to end humanity, as he considers them evil and corrupt.

  • Big Bad: Of the book A Batalha Do Apocalipse. He is the one that banished Ablon to the Haled for conspiring against him in the past and the one that sent Apollyon to kiddnap Shamira and take her to the Fortress of Zion, thus setting the book's plot in motion.

  • Big Bad Duumvirate: As revealed at the end of the book, Michael and Lucifer have been working together since the Dark Archangel's banishment. Each of them is responsible for antagonizing Ablon, the protagonist of the work, in some way.

  • Character Death: Miguel is killed by Ablon when the renegade resurrects thanks to Shamira's magic and stabs him in the back with the Scourge of Fire, Gabriel's mystical sword.

The Dreaded: As the most powerful being in the Universe (after God, who is sleeping), Michael is feared by almost everyone, as they know he could smite anyone who stand in his way. Still, there were beings that defied him - like Ablon, Lucifer and Uziel - but ended up defeated.

  • Dies Wide Open: After being stabbed by Ablon, Miguel falls to the ground and dies with his eyes open staring at the sky above.

  • Flaming Sword: His sword, the Flame of Death, was a gift from Yahweh, a blade so powerful that could kill the primordial monsters made by Tehom.

  • Freudian Excuse Is No Excuse: Invoked. Just before he died, Michael told Ablon that everything he did (the genocides against humanity, the banishment of the Brotherhood of Renegades, the massacre of rebellious angels) was motivated by love for Yahweh, whom he hoped to see again. However, Ablon was not convinced and told him that he was actually motivated by jealousy.

  • Godhood Seeker: His final plan, alongside Lucifer, was to kidnap Shamira (the greatest sorceress in human history), take her to the fortress of Zion and, when humanity was extinguished in the apocalypse, use her soul to ascend to divinity, becoming the new god of the Universe

  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The Prince of Angels died when Ablon stabbed him with the Scourge of Fire, Gabriel's sword.

  • Kill All Humans: Michael thinks that humanity is evil and inherently corrupted and they don't deserve God's love. Since the beginning of the Seventh Day, he started a genocide campaing against the human race that involved Ice Ages, cataclysms and the Great Flood.

  • The Leader: Michael is the direct heir of Yahweh and the ultimate ruler of the Seven Heavens and beyond. During the Civil War, he was the leader of the Loyalists, angels who share a hatred and contempt for humanity and fight to exterminate it.

  • The Older Immortal: All the archangels are immortal beings created by Yahweh in the Proto-Universe, yet one of Michael's title is the Firstborn, implying he was the first creation of God.

  • Scars Are Forever: Quite literally. Michael obtained scars on his face in the Primal Battles, a conflict that took place before the beginning of the Universe.

    Gabriel, the Messenger of God

"I saw my son being flogged, humiliated. I was there when they put a crown of thorns on him, I watched when they nailed him to the cross. And I couldn't do anything, because it was his will. Free will. It is for that we must fight."
'Gabriel to Ablon

The Fire Master, God's Strength and the Messenger of Yahweh. Gabriel is one of the five archangels created by God in an era before time and space. At first, when Michael started killing the humans, he sided with his brother, but after some events on Earth, Gabriel defend mankind, starting the 2000 years long Civil War in the Seven Heavens.

  • Archangel Gabriel: Gabriel, the Fire Master, is one of the five archangels of Heaven. He was created before the universe to help God fight Tehom, the Darkness. After the creation of the cosmos, Gabriel became patron of the Ishins, elemental angels, and helped Michael to wreak havoc on humanity. However, after he spent some time on Earth, he stays in humanity side and starts a Civil War with his loyal angels to protect them.

  • Ascended to a Higher Plane of Existence: Before the start of the Battle of Armageddon, Gabriel explained to Ablon about Yahweh's true status, how God dissipated his divine essence among the Universe and now lives within all of his creations, achieving omnipresence. Inspired by his father's actions, Gabriel flew beyond the clouds and also dispelled his spiritual essence, but not before handing over leadership of the New Rebels to Ablon.

Big Good: Since 1 BC, he is the one protecting humanity from the forces of Michael, whom desires to exterminate mankind for considering it evil and corrupted.

Deliver Us from Evil: Gabriel changes his view about humankind after having a child with a huam woman, loving his son so much that he realizes what Yahweh felt with the whole human race in the first place. After Michael threatens the life and soul of Gabriel's son, the Fire Master started a Civil War against his brother for the fate of humanity.

Elemental Powers: As the patron of the Ishim, elemental angels, Gabriel can control all of the four elements and their variations. He seems to have a major affinity with fire, with one of his many titles being the Fire Master.

  • Flaming Sword: His sword, called Fire Scourge, is a flaming sword given to him by his Father, capable of kill the primordial monsters made by Tehom. Ablon could only kill Michael using it.

  • The Leader: He is the main leader of the New Rebels, a rebel faction of the Civil War. After he dissipated his essence through the cosmos, he passed the title to Ablon.

  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: His picture in the Expanded Universe book shows that he has long, straight and blond hair. He also has a delicate and somewhat feminine face, reflecting his innocence and purity.

  • Mind over Matter: Gabriel's secret technique is telekinesis. He uses against Ablon in their fight in Jerusalem in A Batalha Do Apocalipse and against Metatron in Filhos Do Eden:Paraiso Perdido. He can create invisible walls and paralyze his enemies with his mind.

  • Outliving One's Offspring: As expected, given who his son was, Gabriel lives much longer than his offspring for thousands of years.

  • Would Hurt a Child: Among the people killed in his attack on the village of Metatron were the children of the First Angel.

    Raphael, God's Healing

"Eternity is not something that lasts forever. It exists here and now, when our temporal perception is turned off. These moments are perpetual and survive the vulgarity of time."
'Rapahel to Ablon

God's Healing, The Fifth Archangel and the Angel of Death. Raphael is one of the five archangels created by God in an era before time and space. He is the most kind, innocent and pure of all of the archangels, publicly disagreeing with Miguel about his genocidal policy against humans. Disillusioned with the actions of his brothers, he isolated himself from the Seven Heavens, disappearing completely.

  • All-Loving Hero: Raphael loves everyone, from angel to human. It also includes Lucifer, even after the fact that the Morning Star ordered Apollyon to kill him.

  • Afterlife Welcome: He is the one doing this to human's souls who reach Paradise, or the Third Heaven. There's a reason he's called the Angel of Death.

  • Afterlife Antechamber: After his resurrection, he went to Elysium, a gateway to paradise, where human souls leave their guilt and anguish behind so they can truly enter the Third Heaven.

  • Archangel Raphael: Rapahel, God's Healing, was one of the five archangels that were created before the universe to help God fight Tehom, the Darkness. He was kind and pure, and disappeared after his brothers started killing humans.

  • Back from the Dead: After Apollyon killed him, on Lucifer's orders, Raphael managed to resurrect in the Elysium, the gate to the Third Heaven. This is because of his sword, the Redeemer, given by his father to help his brothers in the fight against Tehom, brought him back to life. The sword is the only object that can resurrect angels, something normally impossible because they have no soul.

  • Energy Beings: An interesting case, as all archangels are spiritual beings, that is, made of spiritual energy. However, among the five archangels, Raphael has the least human form, appearing as a being made of lights and colors, as seen in the book Universe Expanded.

  • Faking the Dead: Even after his resurrection, everybody in the Seven Heavens, including the others archangels, believes he is dead for good.

  • The Heart: He is this between his brothers, long before Gabriel's Heel–Face Turn. After Lucifer killed him, the other archangels, minus Gabriel, descended further into evil.

  • Incorruptible Pure Pureness: While Lucifer managed to corrupt and manipulate the other archangels, Raphael is so pure and good that he didn't feel for his brother's word, knowing that he was up for no good.

  • Reality Warper: He created an entire realm within the Deep Ethereal plane to house the souls of virtous humans and shield them from evil forces - mainly Lucifer - called the Elysium Fields.

  • Resurrective Immortality: Implied. In his conversation with Ablon in Paraíso Perdido, he says that he is the only truly immortal archangel and that while everyone will perish, he will remain eternal.

    Uziel, the Golden Marshal

"I imagine you've already heard about this weapon. It is called the Fatal Mercy, as it provides a painless, accurate and even pleasurable death. I used it to defeat the primal gods. It was with her that I killed Enuma, and since then I have never lost a battle. Consider it a privilege, for your fall will equal that of the great ancients."
'Uziel to Metatron

The Golden Marshal, the Ebony Warrior and the Arm of God. Uziel is one of the five archangels created by God in an era before time and space. As the youngest and the weakest among his brothers, he's subordinate to Michael, blindly following all of his orders.

  • Always a Bigger Fish: While he is a powerful archangel that defeated hundreds of primordial monsters in the past, he was easily defeated by Metatron in Hades, as the First Angel was near his source of power in the core of the planet.

  • Black Dude Dies First: He is the only archangel with black skin and, not only he's the first archangel, but also the first character in the whole tetralogy to die, killed by Michael in the beginning of the first book.

  • Broken Pedestal: He feels that way about Michael when he finds out his brother is lying to them all about God this whole time.

  • The Captain: Uziel is the pantron and supreme commander of the Cherubim caste, personally leading the heavenly armies into battle.

  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: How Michael kills him, with his sword in his brother's back.

  • Uriah Gambit: When Uziel arrived in Hades to fight Metatron on behalf of Michael, the First Angel quickly lampshades this trope, saying that his brother sent him to die down there as the Golden Marshal was no match for the Supreme Angel. As it turn out, Metatron was correct, but he refused to kill Uziel, instead he sent him back to Michael so the Prince of Angels could do it himself.

  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He appears far less than all the archangels in the tetralogy and is quickly killed off at the beginning of the first book.

    Lucifer, the Morning Star

Lucifer, the Morning Star and the Dark Archangel, is one of the five archangels of existence. He ruled the heavens and the angels alongside his brothers until 3.500 BC, when he dragged one third of the celestials against Michael in an attempt to become greater than God. In the end, he was defeated and banished to Sheol, a realm of darkness and death that he turned into his personal hell.

For more information, see Lucifer's entry in the Sheol tab.

Angels

Angels are celestial beings created by Yahweh to help him in the creation of the Cosmo. They are divided in seven castes accordingly with thei function and nature.
