Dark Empire Yodonheim

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yodonheim_logojpg.jpg
The Dark Empire Yodonheim is a huge imperial army of masked monsters responsible for the destruction of Crystalia. They now set their sights on Earth to eradicate its radiance from the people thereof and reduce it to a desolate wasteland for themselves.
    General Tropes
  • Brought to You by the Letter "S": The Yodonheim symbol is shaped like a Y, as in Yodonheim.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: They're pretty straightforward in their intentions of wanting to extinguish all light and turn everything they see dark and evil.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist:
    • Both the Druidon Tribe and Yodonheim are expansionist, warlike factions embroiled in an ages-old conflict against the heroes. While the Druidon were largely comedic with some serious moments, the Yodonheim — while not without their comedic moments — are largely played seriously throughout most of the show. In addition, the Druidons (sans Kleon) were eventually revealed to have originated from Earth, while the Yodonheim are wholly extraterrestrial beings. Unlike the Druidon generals — who were divided and had trouble working together or even tolerate each other, with Pricious forcefully taking command by taking the other general's hearts — the Yodonheim generals have no problem working with each other in spite of their differences and can cause major problems together as shown in #32, where they each caused three different kinds of disasters.
    • Like Hades Empire Infershia before them, Yodonheim is an empire of darkness opposing the heroes' kingdom of light (Crystalia/Magitopia). Similarly to the Druidons above, Infershia originated from the center of the Earth, while Yodonheim hails from another planet.
  • Dark Is Evil: They're a race of dark beings out to spread darkness across the universe and eradicate all light.
  • Egopolis: Yodonheim is implied to have been named after Emperor Yodon, a dictator who absolutely despises anything relating to radiance, especially humanity and Crystalia.
  • The Empire: An imperialistic army of dark genies out to conquer and destroy all things beautiful and radiant.
  • Meaningful Name: "Yodonheim" is a Portmanteau of "" (妖, Japanese for "demon"), "yodon" (淀ん, "stagnation") and "Jötunheimr", the realm of the giants in Norse Mythology.
  • Mordor: From what we see of it, their home planet appears to be a dark and desolate wasteland.
  • Motif: Masks. Everyone in Yodonheim wears them.
    • Galza wears a full helmet.
    • Carantula is the mask-maker, wearing a giant headgear with two masks and is adorned with Bechat masks all over his suit.
    • Bechats wear a basic Bechat mask until they are switched out for specific Jamens in a Mook Promotion to Jamenshi. Their accompanying Jamen Beasts also are equipped with Jamens.
    • Numajo and Minjo wear masks, with Numajo's still functioning beyond her death due to it still being intact.
    • Even Yodonna herself is revealed to be a blue mask, a Split Personality Human Disguise of the Big Bad Emperor Yodon himself. He also has a red mask that changes him into another Yodon commander, Shadon.
    • And then it's revealed that Emperor Yodon himself is wearing a mask...which is indestructible.
  • Offscreen Villain Dark Matter: Seemingly subverted as of episode 25, in which Galza notes Emperor Yodon is getting annoyed at the resources Carantula is spending on his evil schemes. Yodon makes his full appearance in episode 37.
  • Sigil Spam: The Yodon crest can be seen depicted on anything belonging or associated with Yodonheim, not just on the Mooks and Monster of the Week. This includes any objects used by the Yodonheim Empire in their schemes per episode and the mark shown on those cursed by Numajo.
  • Thinking Up Portals: The goal of each of the Jamenshi is to gather enough darkness to open an "invasion gate" from the realm of Yodonheim to send a Jamen Beast through. The Jamen Beast then tries to gather enough darkness to make an even bigger portal for the Yodonheim to send their entire army through.
  • Vile Villain, Laughable Lackey: Galza, Yodonna and Shadon, military commanders of Yodonheim, are mostly played seriously and are both formidable opponents to the Kiramagers. Similarly, Emperor Yodon proved himself to be a very sinister individual with his unfathomable power plus his corruption towards Galza to serve him and his empire. The Bechats and Jamenshi on the other hand are much less serious opponents and often a source of comedy. Zig-zagged in regards to Carantula, as while he is one of the commanders alongside Galza and Yodonna and the author of the Evil Plan each episode, he is also often a source of comedic moments himself.

Leadership

    Emperor Yodon

Portrayed by: Kazuhiro Yamaji (voice), Yohei Fujita (suit, episodes 37 and 39), Kazuya Okada (suit, episodes 41-45)

The overlord of the Yodonheim Empire.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/emperor_yodon_profile_6.png
  • Achilles' Heel: His head, which is protected by his Jamen Made of Indestructium. The only time it is vulnerable is when he takes it off to consume his fallen foes.
  • Arch-Enemy: To King Oradin.
  • Assimilation Backfire: Galza tricks him into absorbing him to replace Shadon. Galza then stabs him in the back and destroys Yodon's personality, allowing him to usurp Yodon's power and throne. Subverted as it turns out all to be within his expectations, as he immediately revives after learning of the Kanaema Stones' true nature during the conflict between Juru and Lord Galza.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Is shown to be powerful enough to level an entire city block with a single gesture.
  • The Assimilator: How did he become strong enough to become the ruler of Yodonheim? By eating all those he defeated, gaining their power.
  • Bad Boss: Aside from Yodonna and Shadon, he will actively dispose of any subordinate that he deems to be a threat such as Carantula and Galza. Considering that Yodonna and Shadon were his protection against Earth's radiance, he has to treat them nicely out of self-preservation more than anything - and indeed, when push comes to shove he personally kills Yodonna, his most loyal servant by far, to save his own life.
  • Big Bad: He is The Emperor of the invading Yodonheim Empire, and the Kiramagers' main adversary. He's also the one who corrupted Galza in the past, leading to the downfall of Crystalia.
  • Boom, Headshot!: How he finally bites it, getting shot through with a Destoria-boosted shot from the Kiramai Go-Arrow.
  • Casting a Shadow: Has the ability to control darkness, as shown in #37 when he darkens the sky before revealing himself.
  • Cold Ham: The Emperor's voice rarely changes inflection, yet still conveys gravitas whenever he is speaking.
  • Cool Mask: Sports two masks on either side of his head (itself also a mask for his true face) which he can wear to change forms. The blue one is Yodonna, as indicated by the Maniac Tongue, while the red one is Shadon. The latter shatters upon Shadon's death in #39. In #42, he gains a new black mask when he absorbs Galza.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist:
    • Eras was a Well-Intentioned Extremist who sought to preserve the planet by remaking it. Emperor Yodon, on the other hand, seeks to corrupt Earth to transform it into a paradise for Yodonheim. While both of them didn't appear in their respective series until around the final arc, Eras' very exsistence was unknown until late in the story, while Yodon's presence and influence is established from the very beginning. It should also be noted that both of them have their personal, respective Dragon as a host, but in different ways: with Eras forcibly absorbing Pricious for a physical body, while Yodonna unknowingly exists as a part of Emperor Yodon as one of his personalities.
    • Both N Ma and Emperor Yodon are overlords of their respective factions who seek to destroy light and spread darkness, while also lurking in the shadows and leaving the frontline work to their generals; however, N Ma had to delegate to his minions out of necessity as he was sealed away by the Heavenly Saints, while Yodon does so due to him being unable to withstand Earth's radiant environment for long. Unlike N Ma, who created his new body out of his minion Titan's corpse, Yodon "creates" a body for his separate personality Yodonna by using a Transformation Trinket.
    • Exhaus and Yodon are both self-serving giants willing to sacrfice their underlings and make their presense known to the heroes in the last quarter, serving as the Final Boss. But while Exhaus was the Bowzock's benefactor whose existence was unknown to the Carrangers until around his introduction while Yodon is Yodonheim's leader whom the Kiramagers learned of long before he reveals himself.
  • The Corrupter: He brainwashed Galza to make him a Yodonheim general and to betray King Oradin, which at first was Galza's ruse just to trick Mabushina in #4. As it turns out, Galza truly was brainwashed by Emperor Yodon since he was a child, with the former forgetting all about the incident that led to his Face–Heel Turn, playing this trope straight.
  • Dark Is Evil: A tyrannical dark being who wants beauty and happiness to be exterminated.
  • Death World: His ultimate goal is to turn Earth into this.
  • Disney Death: He revives himself after learning the true purpose of the Kanaema Stones, ejecting and killing off Galza before setting off on the next step of his plans to conquer Earth.
  • The Dreaded: When he makes his first appearance, he levels an entire city block with little effort. Not only are the Kiramagers horrified, but even Galza is visibly disturbed, leading to the general retreating in order to process what just happened.
  • The Emperor: Ruler of the Yodonheim and implied to have conquered many other worlds beyond Crystalia.
  • Evil Knockoff: The "Yodon Changer" that his alter egos Yodonna and Shadon use to communicate with him is basically a recolor of Takamichi's Shiny Kiramai Changer, an exact replica of the one Galza made from the Shiny Kiramai Changer itself.
  • Evil Overlord: He's the ruler of an evil race of genies out to spread darkness across the universe.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: As befitting of the series' Big Bad, his voice is subterranean-levels deep. When he makes his first appearance however, Kazuhiro Yamaji decides to take a Soft-Spoken Sadist route.
  • Eviler than Thou: Pulls it on Galza after the latter's failed attempt to pull this on him, revealing that he had secretly corrupted Galza as a child before finishing him off.
  • Fantastic Racism: He despises humanity because of their radiance.
  • Final Boss Preview: His appearance in Episode 37, where he shows up, destroys an entire city block in a matter of seconds and gives a warning to the Kiramagers before exiting. And while Galza (temporarily) stole his body and power to become the new emperor before he can even be fought by the Kiramagers, Yodon resurfaced after Juru told Galza about the Kanaema Stones to evict the latter out of his body and finish him off as he enters the final stages of his invasion.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: He was originally a snake born out of the sea of darkness. Years of assimilation turned him into the Emperor of Yodonheim.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: His head is mainly gold, with four spikes protruding out that give the impression of him wearing a crown.
  • Imagination-Based Superpower: A downplayed version. He was originally a lesser being in the land of darkness that would eventually become Yodonheim, until a flash of inspiration spurred him to forge his own Jamen, the first in existence, with which allowed him to triumph all his foes and become the strongest being in Yodonheim, whist also creating his split personalities that became add-ons to his Jamen.
    • This also extends to him (as Yodonna), creating a Yodon Changer out of mud just solely based on Takamichi's Shiny Kiramai Changer, and somehow making it coincidentally look and function just like the one Galza made even though it's heavily implied he's never seen the latter's original version of it.
  • It's All About Me: As Yodonna learned the hard way...
Emperor Yodon: "There is only one thing I hold dear. Myself."
  • King Incognito: He technically appears from #25 onwards as Yodonna.
  • Knight of Cerebus: When the Emperor makes his full appearance in Episode 37, it's played dead seriously and leaves the Kiramagers in both utter horror, marking the beginning of the end.
  • Large and in Charge: In Galza's flashback he's shown to be gigantic and based on his silhouette in the opening — and his full appearance in #37 — he is even larger than the Jamen Beasts.
  • Last Words: "Impossible... I... can't lose..."
  • Lightning Lash: Can generate energy tendrils from his left arm.
  • Lonely at the Top: Episode 45 reveals that despite becoming the most powerful being in Yodonheim, as well as its ruler, his subconscious loneliness gave birth to his Yodonna and Shadon personalities in order to provide himself companionship.
  • Love Is a Weakness: Despite having created Yodonna and Shadon out of his subconscious desire for companionship, he ultimately sees it as a weakness, and was more than glad to have them disposed of when the time came.
  • No One Sees the Boss: Though he's mentioned by his underlings several times, and is briefly shown lurking in the background of the Yodonheim base in #2, he hasn't made any full appearances yet. He fully appears in #37.
  • Orcus on His Throne: He seems to be quite powerful, but for now he's just been lurking silently in the back of the Realm of Darkness while Carantula, Galza, and eventually Yodonna handle the invasion of Earth on his behalf. He begins to take action as of #34, fully taking to the field in #37.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: What his seeming Benevolent Boss moments to Yodonna and Shadon are. In #34 he orders Galza to rescue Yodonna before Tametomo and Shiguru could finish her off, and in #39 swears vengeance on the Kiramagers for killing Shadon. Since their forms pretty much serve as his hazmat suits against Earth's environment, it's clear that he's only nice to them out of (literal) self-preservation rather than genuine benevolence.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes are glowing red and are the only thing we see of him, until #37.
  • Shadow Dictator: A quite literal example, being the ruler of a race of dark beings and a figure who mostly isn't seen beyond a sinister shadow residing in the background. He finally reveals himself in #37.
  • Shock and Awe: Can fire blasts of crimson lightning from his eyes.
  • Shoulders of Doom: Sports massive pauldrons.
  • Sinister Silhouettes: In early episodes, the closest we see to what his physical appearance looks like is his formidable figure hulking in the shadows of a shot in the opening.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: Has a giant serpentine tail for a left arm with his armor sporting two coiled snakes around the collar, and is the main villain of the series, as well as the one who corrupted Galza into villainy during the latter's childhood. He was also a snake monster before becoming emperor.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: His voice is softer and higher-pitched when fully shown, never going beyond a subdued growl, serving to make his displays of power even more disturbing than it already is. Even his more-pronounced growls in #43 are still pretty soft.
  • Spikes of Villainy: Has numerous spikes protruding from his body, from his arms to his head.
  • Split Personality: He has two other personalities that are separate beings unto themselves, represented with a pair of red and blue masks he has on his head which he uses to adorn another personality and disguise. The blue mask with a Maniac Tongue represents Yodonna, while the red mask represents Shadon. As shown in #42-#43 with Galza, he is also able to absorb other beings into his consciousness to create new masks and forms, as well as eject them.
  • Transformation Trinket: Through his masks, he is able to change into two different forms to better adapt to Earth's environment. The blue mask with the Maniac Tongue is his Human Disguise Yodonna and the red mask with the spikes is the Yodon hunter Shadon.
  • The Unfought: Galza kills him before he can do more than threaten the Kiramagers and Mashins... or so he thought.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: As a being of pure darkness and corruption, he cannot abide radiant and pristine environments for too long. He gets around it by taking on the forms of his alter egos Yodonna and Shadon.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Had no qualms about forcibly corrupting and brainwashing a young Galza.
  • You Have Failed Me: Episode 41. After witnessing through Yodonna how Carantula took sides with Juru, he steps in personally and kills him... but not quite outright.

Military Commanders

    Treacherous Demon General Galza

Portrayed by: Yūichi Nakamura (voice), Keizo Yabe (suit)
Young Galza Portrayed by: Natsumi Kawaida (voice), Towa Nagashima (suit)

One of the generals of the Yodonheim Empire, he is the younger brother of King Oradin and Mabushina's uncle, and Takamichi's adoptive uncle.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msk_galza.jpg
  • Accidental Truth: In #4, Galza feigned being Brainwashed and Crazy by Yodon just so Mabushina could get close to him and trick her. Eventually 39 episodes later, it is revealed that this is what actually happened to him, though The Corruption took place much earlier than anyone knew.
  • A Pupil of Mine Until He Turned to Evil: #32 reveals that he was once one of Hakobu's students.
  • Arch-Enemy: Towards Juru, due to them having the same Kiramental ability, along with Juru being rather similar to his older brother Oradin. Galza is all too aware of this, which just makes him want to kill Juru more.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: He's one of Yodonheim's top generals and he has the power and will to show it off extensively.
  • The Atoner: Tried to be this after learning that his Face–Heel Turn was all just part of corruption from Emperor Yodon and he never truly wanted to be evil nor hate his brother at all. It didn't last long.
  • Bad Boss: Galza will not hesitate to sacrifice or dispose of his minions in the Yodon Army if convenient for him, or if they just get in his way, as was the case with Paleolith Basra.
  • Baritone of Strength: Well when you're voiced by none other than Yūichi Nakamura, you're bound to be this.
  • Batman Gambit: #21 fully reveals the extent of this. By manipulating Takamichi for years to push him into gathering the Kanaema Stones, Takamichi eventually left Crystalia, thus leaving it vulnerable to Yodonheim's attack.
  • Berserk Button: His older brother, King Oradin, and everything that reminds Galza of him, which includes Juru.
  • Body Backup Drive: He transferred his soul into Mashin Jouki right before his death by Emperor Yodon.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: #43 reveals that Emperor Yodon DID have him corrupted with The Power of Hate from a young age.
  • BFS: Wields a large crescent-like sword as a general of the Yodonheim.
  • Black Knight: A powerful warrior clad in silvery black armor.
  • Broken Pedestal: To Takamichi and Mabushina. #38 further reveals that Takamichi used to greatly admire Galza, accepting a Grajewel out of desire to gain his acceptance. As Illusia's power showed, even after Crystalia's fall Takamichi still held on hope that Galza still had honour, only for that pedestal to be further broken when Galza admits to attempting to murder him during their first Grajewel.
  • The Brute: Cunning though he may be, the main asset Galza provides to the Yodonheim is his tremendous physical strength augmented by his Jamental, and most of the time when he's sent out it's to battle the Kiramagers and buy time for the Jamenshi of the Week to gather enough darkness.
  • Cain and Abel: The Cain to Oradin's Abel, having betrayed the latter out of jealousy and later being responsible for his death.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: He sold out his entire kingdom to Yodonheim in exchange for becoming one of their generals. Later on, as soon as the opportunity presents itself, Galza usurps Emperor Yodon to become the new ruler of Yodonheim.
  • The Chosen One: Oradin reveals that prior to his betrayal, his Kiramental was so strong that it was able to not only create new things, but he was also meant to be a chosen warrior to protect Crystalia from the chaos of evil. This is what directly led to Yodon brainwashing him, believing that the royal brothers' combined Kiramental would ultimately defeat and destroy him.
  • Co-Dragons: He and Carantula are on more or less equal footing and are the two lieutenants entrusted by Emperor Yodon to lead the Earth invasion. Though it's Galza who occupies the more traditional "enforcer" role. By episode 25 they're joined by Yodonna.
  • Cold Ham: Galza isn't as bombastic as Carantula, but in most conversations he's in (even when he's not furious), Galza has no issue asserting dominance. When he gets angry or excited he becomes more traditionally hammy.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist:
    • Both Meemy and Galza are former heroes who turned to evil, subsequently taking on a new appearance.note  Unlike Meemy, who betrayed Magitopia out of ambition, Galza betrayed Crystalia out of jealousy towards his brother, though #43 reveals that it was through Yodon's corruption, not unlike what happened to Wolzard. While Meemy was primarily a magic-user and wielded a fan/staff, and had a flamboyant and theatrical personality, Galza is more akin to Branken — favoring physical combat and wielding a sword, as well as being heartless and more easily vexed.
    • Like Geildon and Jeanne before him, Galza worked alongside his family before turning to evil, wearing black armor thereafter.note  While Geildon and Jeanne were manipulated into joining the Evolians, believing that Asuka betrayed them, Galza joins Yodonheim of his own free will out of jealousy towards Oradin, until #43 reveals that he was in fact forcibly brainwashed as a child. Unlike Jeanne, who never managed to turn Bakuryuu Dimenokodon to her side, Galza has full control over Mashin Jouki.
  • Cool Mask: Dons a crescent-shaped helmet after defecting to Yodonheim. He becomes one for Emperor Yodon in #42.
  • The Corruption: His Jamental is a weaponized version of this. It is able to corrupt many things to his will, anything from the Monstones to King Express (which was supposed to be a tool that controlled Smog Jouki).
  • Creepy Child: By his own admission, Galza had malicious tendencies even as a kid. His favorite part of a popular Crystalian folk tale about a hero with a bomb in his chest was when the Evil Overlord in the story uses the bomb to torture the hero.
  • Dark Is Evil: He is a general of the evil Yodon army, and is clad in black armor. Even before his betrayal, his head is a black crystal, and his robes were a darker shade of silver in contrast to his brother and niece's white. #42 and #43 reveal that his skin was blue as a child, before it gradually turned black due to Emperor Yodon's corruption of him.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Is completely blindsided by Juru twice in one instant: firstly when the latter makes use of Daiyakun to be in two places at once, allowing him to come to Mabushina's aid, and secondly with him having a connection to Oradin, allowing him to expose Galza's lies.
  • Dirty Coward: Tried to attack Takamichi when the latter's back was turned during their first Grajewel.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: His response to not being made king was to murder his brother and sell out his people to be slaughtered by the Yodonheim. Evil Is Petty indeed.
  • Dragon Ascendant: After asking Emperor Yodon to absorb him as his new personality aspect to replace Shadon, and having Carantula paralyze the Emperor with a specially-made bomb, Galza slays the Emperor's consciousness and takes control of his body, becoming the new ruler of Yodonheim.
  • Driven by Envy: Galza believed himself more worthy of being king than Oradin, due to his stronger Imagination-Based Superpower; his jealousy and resentment over being denied the throne led to his betrayal.
  • Dying Moment of Awesome: In his dying moment, Galza performs a rather magnificent good deed my performing a Body Backup Drive to possess Jouki as his old body gets destroyed while saving Juru from a fall. Unfortunately since his spirit didn't last, he Pass The Torch to Juru, giving Mashin Jouki to the boy as well and making peace with Oradin before departing for the afterlife.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: He doesn't understand why the Kiramagers' bond and Kiramental are able to overpower him and Yodonheim every time, not understanding that it's due to their determination, wit, and passion, rather than out of pure power and greed.
  • Evil Costume Switch: Goes from silver robes to jet-black armor after he fully joins the Yodonheim Empire near the end of Episode ZERO.
  • Evil Counterpart: By the end of Episode 8, he gains access to Jamental, a twisted version of Kiramental that even scares the likes of Carantula.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Not usually, but there are certain moments where he can dial the hamminess up significantly, as noted in Smug Snake below.
  • Evil Mentor: Apparently Galza had been playing a very long game - flashbacks revealed that he'd been educating Takamichi and convincing him that he would "shine brighter" on his own, while driving a wedge between him and Mabushina as a bonus. The real purpose is much more specific - Takamichi learning to "shine brighter" with his new friends is the very thing that lets him take Kiramai Stone form, and activate GigantDriller.
  • Evil Prince: He is of the royal family of Crystalia, and sold out his kingdom to Yodonheim.
  • Evil Uncle: To Mabushina and Takamichi, having caused their father's -- his own brother's -- death and betrayed his family.
  • Fallen Hero: Very much so. Despite being a war hero of Crystalia before his betrayal, it was shown that he was already corrupted by Emperor Yodon much earlier from a young age, when he had much aspirations and was originally meant to have been a chosen warrior to protect Crystalia before his corruption and eventual Face–Heel Turn.
  • Genocide from the Inside: He helped to orchestrate the destruction of Crystalia and its people by providing the Yodonheim a secret way in.
  • Genius Bruiser: Galza often acts as the Yodonheim's muscle and when he's sent out it's usually either to hassle the Kiramagers or guard the Jamenshi. He's far from Dumb Muscle though, and can be quite the Manipulative Bastard in addition to his already tremendous strength.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: As Lord Galza, having taken the power of Emperor Yodon for himself, his body is mostly gold.
  • Good Powers, Bad People: He has the same Imagination-Based Superpower Juru and King Oradin have, but instead of using it for good he uses it to create war machines for the Yodonheim.
  • Grand Theft Me: Pulls this off against Emperor Yodon. First he offers himself to the Emperor to replace Shadon as his new personality aspect, thereby gaining access to the Emperor's consciousness. Then, after getting Emperor Yodon to emerge from him, he has Carantula paralyze the Emperor with a special bomb, enabling Galza to seize Emperor Yodon's body from him and become the powerful Lord Galza.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He has quite the nasty temper that can be triggered by practically anything that annoys him, especially when Juru's involved.
  • Hate Plague: Was an unfortunate victim of one from Emperor Yodon since his childhood, which caused him to start hating his older brother Oradin for no reason at all, before it took proper form as jealousy of his status as he grew up.
  • The Heavy: Split with Carantula. While Carantula is the one who creates the Jamenshi and Jamen Beasts, Galza is the one who goes out into battle more often. He's also the one to kickstart the series by allowing the Yodonheim to invade Crystalia, forcing Mabushina to flee to Earth with the Kiramai Stones.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: After learning that Emperor Yodon was the one who corrupted him in the first place, Galza launches an effective suicide attack against the Emperor that leads to him being swiftly defeated and killed before he has a chance to properly patch things up with his brother. He does at least manage to save Juru in his final moments before passing on.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: In his last attack on Emperor Yodon, he transferred his soul into Jouki before he was killed and used it to save Juru. However he dies soon after due to the previous damage to his soul as a result of being ejected from Yodon's body.
  • Hijacking Cthulhu: With help from Carantula, he's able to hijack Emperor Yodon's body and obtain untold amounts of power.
  • Horrifying the Horror:
    • Even he is nervous of Yodonna. It's telling that he's willing to submit to her authority shortly after she made her appearance known.
    • As much of a power-hungry Sadist that he is, he knows that Emperor Yodon is far more powerful and scarier than he could ever be, and even warns Carantula to quit with his antics before the Emperor lashes out at them.
  • I Hate Past Me: Years of Yodon's corruption caused him to view his younger self as naive and weak.
  • I Let You Win: He's visibly irritated whenever Mashin Express hijacked Jouki into King Express, but allows the Kiramagers to have their way for once in Episode 9 for observation purposes.
  • Imagination-Based Superpower: He claims to have a stronger ability than his brother, and is demonstrated with him transforming the Crystalian Royal Train into his own Mashin, Smog Jouki.
  • In Love with Your Carnage: Was impressed by Yodonna's sadism and ruthlessness against the Kiramagers, leading him to ask if they could work together.
  • It's Personal: Towards Juru, for resembling Oradin too much.
  • It's Personal with the Dragon: The Kiramagers have more grudge against Galza than against Emperor Yodon, due to the former's betrayal of Crystalia (And also becuase Emperor Yodon is Orcus on His Throne for a great portion of the series). It's only after Galza's death and the reveal that Emperor Yodon corrupted Galza into villainy that the Kiramager start opposing Emperor Yodon.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Not only does he cruelly gloat to his niece that he had his brother killed after being bested by Juru, but Galza repeatedly tries to kill the young artist every time he does something to vex him, acts rather aggressive to his own side, ranging from choking Carantula after the latter made fun of him to killing at least two Jamenshi, and gave Takamichi fallacious advice of working alone makes him stronger to drive a wedge between him and Mabushina, hoping that he would be able to corrupt his foster nephew to his side. And as if that weren't enough, in #38 he gleefully admits to Takamichi's face that he'd always intended to kill him before he "became a nuisance". In episode 7, at first it seemed that Galza sympathized with Freezer Jamen, relating to him for being a younger brother overshadowed by his older sibling. Once he was done using him as an Unwitting Pawn though, Galza wastes no time in disposing of him, proclaiming that he despises all weaklings, regardless of whether they're younger or older siblings.
  • Kick the Dog:
    • Not only does he have his own brother killed and unceremoniously dragged out by the legs, he also lies to his own niece about her father being alive and — when his lie is eventually exposed — gloats about it to her face.
    • In #7, he pretends to empathize with Freezer Jamen using their mutual resentment against their older brothers, manipulating him into being a guinea pig for a new enhancement drug. When the drug proves to be a failure, he gloats to Freezer Jamen that he was never on his side, and was only using him.
    • In #11, Reset Button Jamen is left broken and beaten after Tametomo deliberately subjects him to his own "Groundhog Day" Loop repeatedly. Galza kills him anyway.
  • The Kingslayer: Mortally wounds Oradin, though it is the Bechats who ultimately finish the job.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Galza is consistently played as a serious threat to the Kiramagers, with no silly or honorable quirks to balance out his villainy. Even a brief appearance in one episode from him can mean bad news.
  • Last of His Kind: Along with Mabushina, as far as we know he's one of the last remaining members of the Crystalian royal bloodline.
  • Last Words:
    • Before sacrificing himself:
"The purpose of my life...I will forge it, here and now!"
    • After saving Juru, as his life fades away:
"When you see my brother, tell him... I hope that next time, we can be brothers on better terms..."
  • Made of Iron: All that fancy armor isn't just for show - in #27 he can tank a direct hit from the Kiraful Go Arrow and still get away.
  • Manipulative Bastard:
    • Feigned being brainwashed and told Mabushina she could see her father again if she gave him the White Kiramai Crystal, even though her father was really dead by Galza's hand.
    • Manipulated Freezer Jamen into taking a strength serum that would basically kill him, because he hates weaklings with an utter passion.
    • Told Takamichi that he'd be stronger working on his own, knowing that the opposite was true.
    • Planted in Takamichi's mind the idea of finding the Kanaema Stones in order to break the curse on Mabushina, which resulted in Takamichi becoming obsessed with treasure hunting and subsequently depriving Crystalia of one of its defenders.
  • Mask of Sanity: Initially appearing to be The Stoic, it soon becomes clear that Galza's seemingly calm persona is just a guise for his inner rage and sadism.
  • Meaningful Name:
    • Galza's name is a play on the Arabic word غلظر/gulzar ("garden") and the Persian word گلزر/golzar ("beautiful"). Becomes an Ironic Name when he joins the Yodonheim Empire, the very antithesis of Crystalia.
    • His name is also derived from Útgarða-Loki (ウートガルザ・ロキ/Utogaruza-roki)note , who in Norse Mythology was the lord of the castle Útgarð in Jötunheimr.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: He realises this after looking back on his childhood reminded him that he loved Oradin and never wanted to kill him.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Pretty sure that "Demonic General of Betrayal" isn't one of the good guys here.
  • Never My Fault: If he ever made any form of mistake, chances are Galza would never admit his own transgressions. Episode 14, for example, has him giving Jouki to SL Jamen due to being amazed at his performace, but with said Jamenshi kicked out of the train and crushed by his associated Jamen Beast, Galza exasperatedly exclaimed that he would never lend Jouki to any Jamenshi ever again even though that part was entirely his idea.
  • Noisy Robots: His Powered Armor tends to produce a lot of mechanical sounds when he moves about, despite not being a robot himself.
  • Not Brainwashed: He claims to have been Brainwashed by Emperor Yodon into becoming a villain. Turns out it was all a ruse in an attempt to get the White Kiramai Stone, and that he betrayed Crystalia out of his own free will. Ultimately Subverted in #43.
  • Not So Above It All: When Carantula is playing his violin, Galza offers to help with his electric guitar. What follows is him shredding metal music that clearly distresses Carantula (and everyone else for that matter), but gives him joy. The kicker here? He keeps on playing long after the Jamenshi is defeated, seemingly out of enjoyment.
  • One-Winged Angel: Becomes the golden Lord Galza after hijacking Emperor Yodon's power.
  • Out-Gambitted: Emperor Yodon was fully aware of Galza's status as The Starscream and simply pretended to be killed off in order wait until Galza was vulnerable again.
  • The Power of Hate: If the Jamental Institute was anything to go by, Galza learned that maintaining and increasing his Jamental involved this as well as anger and jealousy.
  • Put on a Bus: When Oradin transfers his soul into a Mashin in #29, he takes a temporary absence to plan countermeasures. He returns in #32.
  • The Quisling: He revealed Crystalia's secret entrance to Yodonheim, allowing them to easily conquer the planet.
  • Red Baron: Goes as the "Demonic General of Betrayal" when he joins Yodonheim.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes are blood-red, in contrast to his brother and niece's silver-blue. He's also a defector to the Yodonheim. #42-#43 reveal that his eyes were also blue as a child, before they turned red due to Emperor Yodon's corruption.
  • Shadow Archetype: He's basically how Muryou would have turned out, if the latter had a single resentful/envious bone in his body.
  • Short-Lived Leadership: One episode after he becomes the new overlord of Yodonheim, he is killed by Emperor Yodon.
  • Shout-Out:
    • A rather blatant one to Scar, being an Evil Prince who betrayed his family out of jealousy of his older brother being king instead of him, plotted to murder both him and his niece — who is also the sole heir to the throne — while enlisting the aid of an outside faction to do so, manipulated his nephew into leaving the kingdom (which results in its fall not long after), and even having a direct hand in his brother's death.
    • He's also one to Blackfire, both being royalty who — out of resentment for their siblings — sold out their families and home planets to their sworn enemies.
    • He's also one to Garmadon, being the once good brother for his sibling and sharing a similar power to him until he was corrupted by an evil being and betrayed him. In addition to that, they both look similar, having black skin and red eyes, have similar powers (Jamentality and Destruction) and both are associated with the colors Black and Purple.
  • Smug Snake: Shows signs of this, as he tends to blow his own horn when trying to prove his superior imagination.
Galza: (introducing Smog Jouki) Take a gander at these claws! These fangs! And the chainsaw!
  • Split-Personality Takeover: He tricks Yodon into allowing him to become one of the Emperor's personalities to replace Shadon. He then promptly betrays him, killing Yodon's personality and taking Yodon's body and power for his own.
  • The Sociopath: Galza not only sold out his people to Yodonheim out of an extremely petty stance of being denied the throne in favor of Oradin, but has no problem lying to others to either get what he wants or to manipulate them, firmly favors being strong while having a strong hatred for those he considers as weaklings, and exploits whatever rage he has against Juru due to his similarities to Oradin. Again, this was all due to Yodon corrupting him into villainy while he was still a kid.
  • The Starscream: He executes a carefully made plan that allows him to hijack Emperor Yodon's power with Carantula's assistance, transforming him into Lord Galza.
  • That Man Is Dead: Says this word-for-word as he casts aside his identity as the Hero of Crystalia and takes up his role as General of Yodonheim.
  • Took a Level in Badass: While he was already a strong foe, Galza becomes even more dangerous after discovering his Jamental, which he continues to train and hone. Allowing him to break apart the King Express formation, overpower Oradin and eventually even hijack Mashin Express to form King Express Jaaku. He then proceeds to usurp Yodon and become as powerful as him.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: #42 and #43 reveal him to be a sweet kid who deeply admired his older brother and his creations, before Yodon got his claws into him.
  • Vile Villain, Saccharine Show: Galza is a formidable and outright malevolent foe who stands in stark contrast to the show's bright atmosphere. Though not without comedic moments from time to time, whenever he takes to the field against the Kiramagers, he's played dead seriously.
  • Villain Forgot to Level Grind: Averted. Knowing that the Kiramagers are only going to get stronger from here, he goes to the "Valley of Corruption" to hone his Jamental. By the time he comes back, he's able to corrupt Hakobu (who is established to be one of the strongest Mashins) and heads off to Atamald to imprison Oradin.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He had no qualms running over Sayo with his Mashin and, later, viciously throwing her to the ground while she was untransformed, causing her to hit her head and get amnesia.
  • Would Hurt a Child: He's more than happy to kill Mabushina and Juru due to their connection to Oradin. Keep in mind that these two are below the age of adulthood.
  • Xanatos Speed Chess: Yodonna and Shadon's relationship to the Emperor wasn't something he knew beforehand and Carantula's defection wasn't something he likely anticipated, but he seizes on the latter to take advantage of the former to concoct a scheme to steal Emperor Yodon's power and become the new ruler of Yodonheim.

    Dark Masked Magician Carantula

Portrayed by: Yasuhiro Takato (voice), Naoko Kamio (suit)

One of the generals of the Yodonheim Empire, and the one responsible for creating Jamenshi from Bechats via his Jamen masks.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/msk_carantula.jpg
  • Boss in Mook's Clothing: When the Kiramagers first saw him they assumed him to be another Jamenshi before he introduced himself.
  • Butt-Monkey: Sometimes, Carantula ends up on the receiving end of harm or a threat, namely by Galza and Yodonna.
  • Cavalier Consumption: They make good use of Carantula's unique mask design when he's seen munching on marshmallows in episode 15, which even becomes a plot point the next week.
  • Co-Dragons: He and Galza are on more or less equal footing and are the lieutenants entrusted by Emperor Yodon's to lead the Earth invasion. Though Carantula usually stays behind at the base and lets Galza do the dirty work. By episode 25 they're joined by Yodonna.
  • Complexity Addiction: Carantula's taste for using themes from Earth against it sometimes leads to things being needlessly complicated. This is especially the case with Bomb Jamen, where Carantula decided that he needed a bowling motif in addition to a bomb one, and decided to work that in by requiring Bomb Jamen to get a strike in order for his bombs to go off. Galza was not impressed. Though it's Subverted in the next episode where it's revealed that Bomb Jamen can make bombs blow up without the bowling mechanism.
  • Cool Mask: Makes these for the Bechats that undergo Mook Promotion to become Jamenshi.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Episode 37 reveals he had Yodonna split him into five so he could send 1/5 of himself into the field while having the other four as a contingency for if he perished.
  • Creative Sterility: After one of his clones dies, he begins to find it harder to create new Jamenshi and Jamen Beast to satisfy the Yodonheim.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: He's pretty damn hammy and prone to childish moments, but he is one of Yodonheim's top lieutenants for a damn good reason. A prime example of this is #32, where he sends Riddle Jamen to get some easy Dark Energy so that he can send out three Jamen Beasts throughout the city.
  • Death of Personality: Loses 1/5th of himself when it gets destroyed alongside Turntable Gomoryu. It's hinted that 1/5th is what contained Carantula's evilness, as he defects from Yodonheim not long after.
  • Disney Death: Twice.
  • Dragon Ascendant: Played With. Carantula becomes the new emperor of Yodonheim after the Kiramagers defeat Emperor Yodon, but instead of becoming the new Big Bad, he makes peace with Crystalia and Earth.
  • Dreadful Musician: Plays the violin just well enough to create cacophony in episode 24 (in stark contrast to Galza, who's already mastered the electric guitar).
  • Evil Genius: Carantula is this for Yodonheim, as he is the one who creates the Monster of the Week each episode and typically formulates the Evil Plan.
  • Evil Is Hammy: In contrast to Galza, Carantula is much more expressive and hammy, being the one who delivers exposition on the Yodonheim's Evil Plan each episode.
  • The Heavy: Split with Galza. Carantula is usually the one to formulate the Evil Plan by creating the Monster of the Week. He goes out in the battlefield for the first time in #15.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After spending time with Juru, Carantula realises he doesn’t have to devote all his creative talent to Yodonheim and quits. He later returns and becomes the new emperor of Yodonheim, and makes peace with Crystalia and Earth.
  • Hoist by Their Own Petard:
    • He tries to invoke this on the human race, theming his Jamenshi and Jamen Beasts after man-made inventions and human history in the hopes of watching humanity suffer from the effects of their own creations.
    • A minor case invoked in that while sending 1/5th of himself to be sacrificed in his rapping scheme, that 1/5th actually represented his loyalty to Yodonheim. The end result is his remaining incomplete self having a wavering dedication to Yodonheim and actually appreciating Earth's culture before finally pulling a Heel–Face Turn after Yodonna pushed him too far.
  • Horrifying the Horror:
    • Downplayed, but even he was unnerved at Galza destroying Paleolith Basra for getting in the way.
      Carantula: Galza is scary!
    • From there, it's clear that Galza's actions against fellow comrades (such as straight-up killing them) unnerve him a bit, but it's not enough for him to fully turn his back on Galza.
    • He's far more afraid of what Emperor Yodon could do and even drops the silly act when Galza mentions about what the Emperor could do.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: While definitely evil, Carantula is thus far the only major Yodonheim member with a significant amount of comical qualities, namely from his hamminess and childish moments, especially when compared with Galza and Yodonna.
  • Magic Staff: His Gauge Scepter, which also doubles as a meter that measures how much dark energy has been gathered by the Jamenshis.
  • Manchild: Carantula is prone to freaking out and throwing tantrums when things don't go his way. One episode sees him flipping out when he drops his last marshmallow and doesn't have a way to get any more.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is a Portmanteau of "máscara" (Spanish for "mask") and "tarantula".
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: What kicks off his desire to depart from Yodonheim is not only the loss of his 1/5 personality, but also due to Yodonna's constant abuse against him, while finding solace in drawing together with Juru. Carantula did not perform a real Heel–Face Turn, but was more than willing to cooperate with Galza's plan for dethroning Emperor Yodon, simply because he was almost executed earlier.
  • Mook Promotion: His Jamen Masks allows Bechats to become Jamenshis, and native Kaijus into Jamen Beasts.
  • Morality Pet: Juru becomes one to him during the Maneki Neko Jamen incident.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Carantula is one of those rare enemy general designs in modern Super Sentai who just has a helmet that leaves his suit actor's mouth and jaw exposed, while most enemy generals would go either full-face makeup or a fully-sculpted head, sometimes with humanlike features to mimic the effect seen here (though it's mostly females who get this).
  • Not Quite Dead:
    • He seemingly perishes along with Turntable Gomoryu in Episode 36, but the next episode reveals that was a split copy he had Yodonna make of him and the rest of him is alive and well, though no longer fully complete.
    • Happens again in Episode 41. This time it's Emperor Yodon who comes within inches of killing him.
  • Red Baron: Goes by the "Dark Masked Magician".
  • Sole Survivor: Thanks to him ducking out before things hit the fan, Carantula is the only top member of Yodonheim to outlast Emperor Yodon and remain alive at the end of the season.
  • Sweet Tooth: After his first trip to Earth, he became addicted to marshmallows, going so far as to model a Jamenshi off one to bring him more.
  • Wicked Cultured: As he themes his Jamenshi and Jamen Beasts after objects from Earth, Carantula has at least some knowledge of Earth culture and seems to enjoy aspects of it.
  • A Wild Rapper Appears!: #36 shows Carantula is quite hot on the mic, and he easily bests Juru in their rap battle.

    Stagnant Sea Witch Numajo

Portrayed by: Naoko Kouda (voice), Yuki Miyazawa (suit)

One of the generals of the Yodonheim Empire, she was the culprit behind the curse that killed Queen Mabayuine.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/numajo.jpg
  • Breath Weapon: Her corrosive spit is powerful enough to turn a Kiramai Stone to rust.
  • Casting a Shadow: As a witch working for the Yodonheim, her using darkness-themed magic is a given.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: She's on the receiving end of this, but it's not without its consequences...
  • Dark Action Girl: Based on what we see of her she was one of the stronger fighters within Yodonheim. She was capable of holding her own against Oradin for a decent amount of time, and when Juru fought her he struggled to keep up with her attacks and vast magical abilities.
  • Evil Smells Bad: Her Breath Weapon leaves a foul odor.
  • Glasgow Grin: Much like Mileena, her lips are flanked by rows of fangs because that's how wide her mouth really is.
  • Light Is Not Good: Wears white boots and a white shawl as well as having a light-colored head, but she's definitely not one of the good guys.
  • Magic Knight: In addition to her magic, she also wields a kris-like sword.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is a Portmanteau of the Japanese words 沼/numa ("swamp") and 魔女/majo ("witch").
  • No Ontological Inertia: Averted. Her curse on the Crystalian Royal Family still remains after her death.
  • Perpetual Smiler: Her face is affixed with a malicious grin.
  • Posthumous Character: Was killed by Oradin prior to the series, appearing only in flashbacks.
  • Red Baron: Was introduced as the "Witch of the Stagnant Sea". Her actual name isn't revealed until a couple episodes later.
  • Short-Lived Leadership: She's killed not long after her promotion to Yodonheim general.
  • Sibling Team: Formed one with Minjo before she was killed.
  • Small Role, Big Impact:
    • She only appears in a flashback due to Oradin killing her decades before the series began, but the curse she planted on Crystalia's royal bloodline is the reason why Takamichi hunts for the Kanaema Stones, which left him vulnerable to Galza's manipulations and caused him to leave Crystalia, thus leaving it more vulnerable for Yodonheim.
    • In a much smaller scale, her mask returns in #34 to assist in Yodonna's "game" against the Kiramagers by infecting one of them with a enhanced version of her poison.
  • Squishy Wizard: Subverted - her magic abilities are extraordinary, and Minjo is clearly there to back her up, but she holds her own against Juru for a good while. The only one who beat her eventually was Oradin.
  • Villainous Legacy: She's long dead by the time of the series, but her curse has major consequences for our heroes.
  • Wicked Cultured: When Oradin goes to confront her, he finds her sipping tea to celebrate her promotion to one of the Yodonheim's commanders.
  • Wicked Witch: The Yodonheim's "Witch of the Stagnant Sea" and spellcaster.

    Yodonna

Portrayed by: Nashiko Momotsuki

One of the generals of the Yodonheim Empire and the personal assistant to Emperor Yodon himself, she assumes the identity of a shrine maiden to wreck havoc on Earth.
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yodonna.png

  • Alas, Poor Villain: Even if she was pretty nasty as a villain, it's hard not to feel sorry for her with how brutally she's cast aside by Emperor Yodon.
  • Alien Blood: While being disposed of by Emperor Yodon, she is shown to be bleeding black, mud-like blood.
  • Arch-Enemy: Towards Tametomo due to his boast that the friendship between the Kiramagers will stop her plans, which causes her to target him specifically to prove it wrong.
  • Bad Boss: Treats her subordinates with contempt and blasts them with lightning if she gets displeased, even going as far as to try and kill them for all of their trouble. Even that "power-up" she uses to turn the Bechats into a berserk zombie horde is eventually revealed to be a Deadly Upgrade.
  • The Baroness: A mix of the Sexpot and the Rosa Klebb, though she leans more towards the latter. While she's an attractive young woman who manages to attract Tametomo at one point (well, before she was actually revealed to be a villain), more emphasis is put on her cold pragmatism, sadism, and utter loyalty to Yodon - all traits that make her The Dreaded to the Kiramagers and Yodonheim.
  • Breakout Villain: So popular she got her own four-part spinoff, something unheard of for other Sentai villains.
  • Character Catchphrase: "This is where I should laugh, right?"
  • Character Development: Over her three spin-offs, she learns human emotions, and thus realises that her allegiance to Yodonheim is morally wrong.
  • Character Tics: During some of her scenes, there are moments where she tilts her head to either the left or the right, and other moments where she sticks out her tongue to the side or licks her lips all while her eyes are widened.
  • Cold Ham: She's the most stoic general out of the lot, but she can emotionlessly ham it up if she's expressing her sadism.
  • The Comically Serious: She's generally played seriously, but her overly stoic mannerisms are played for comedy whenever she tries to laugh, often asking if it's the right time to do so. This gets more downplayed as the show undergoes Cerebus Syndrome, using her laugh to mock the Kiramagers' defeats.
  • Companion Cube: Hers, along with Shadon's, original purpose was to be this for Emperor Yodon.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist:
    • Being the Number Two of Emperor Yodon, Yodonna serves as a foil to Pricious, The Dragon to Sentai's previous main villain. While both possess Light Is Not Good aesthetics and have proven to be very cunning schemers who can serve as The Comically Serious, Pricious more often than not forced other Druidons into participating in his plans through various means of control; Yodonna, meanwhile, is shown multiple times throughout her series to be more than willing to join and aid her allies in their own plots and plans. But while she is more cooperative with others on her side, Yodonna's nature as The Stoic and a Sadist makes her come across as hostile and almost unapproachable to everyone around her as opposed to Pricious, who was just as composed, but willingly takes up the role of Cool Big Sis/Bro to certain generals of his tribe.
    • Like Vancuria before her, Yodonna is the female member of her faction with a human form. Vancuria — being a vampire — had a bat motif, while Yodonna is themed around crows. Unlike Vancuria, who served as just a spy for Infershia, Yodonna is effectively Yodonheim's second-in-command (and one of Emperor Yodon's personalities). It should also be noted that while Vancuria was an antagonist well-known for her silly personality and antics in the story (especially as Nai and Mea) with very dangerous moments, Yodonna's actions quickly establish her as one of Sentai's biggest and deadliest Knights Of Cerebus, but unintentionally makes herself out as The Comically Serious throughout her series.
    • Both Reje and Yodonna are introduced as the personal assistants of their respective series' main villains. While Reje was just the host body and mouthpiece of Dezumozorlya, Yodonna is revealed to be Emperor Yodon — or at least one of his personalities.
  • Creepy Crows: Her costume has two golden crows on each shoulder along with a cape that resembles crow wings, and she's pretty damn creepy at that.
  • Creepy Monotone: When she's disguised as a shrine maiden, she makes no effort whatsoever to put any emotion in her speech. She drops it after revealing her true identity.
  • Cute and Psycho: She is portrayed by an experienced cosplayer and is enough to make Tametomo fall for her in her Miko disguise, but Yodonna is anything but sane, as she is a Control Freak who proclaims that her orders are on par with Emperor Yodon and takes pleasure from crushing weaklings, even her own enhanced Bechats when they exploded out of overloading.
  • Dance Battler: She possesses Mizuki's body in the spinoff, which is not trained for combat but accustomed to dancing. She and Mizuki combine their skills to defeat Nishinoura.
  • Dark Action Girl: Her mostly relying on the Bechats and Jamenshi she powers up notwithstanding, Yodonna is more than capable on fighting on her own, as shown when she is able to overpower both Sena and Sayo without any trouble, only leaving out of annoyance.
  • Darker and Edgier: With her as the protagonist, as she warns in a message at the beginning of her spin off there is "No sparkling, only glaring." And unlike Kiramager proper Yodonna's story is a Police and Yakuza drama, complete with a human trafficing operation, a Dirty Cop betraying Mizuki's trust lots of suggestive outfits and a very serious story with a high kill count. Unlike Sentai's usual fantastical fights against colorful monsters or enemy mooks with toylike weaponry and only sparks and explosions to register damage and death, episode Yodonna has her fighting suited Yakuza thugs and enforcers with very realistic guns and knives and very real looking violence complete with blood and Yodonna racking up a kill count of at least a dozen via snapping their necks, beating them to death and outright shooting them with real firearms because her whip is taken from her at the beginning. It barely resembles the same show and if not for occasional flashbacks to Kiramager and Yodonna retaining her purple crow themed Sentai villianess outfit one would almost think it was just a regular Yakuza film that several actors from Kiramager also starred in.
  • Death Equals Redemption: Turns good in the Yodonna spinoff after growing to care for Mizuki. However, as she was using Mizuki's life force in order to revive herself, Yodonna chooses to allow herself to die again rather than revive via killing Mizuki.
  • The Dragon: As Emperor Yodon's personal assistant and carrier of his orders.
  • Dying Declaration of Love: Despite being backstabbed by Emperor Yodon, her actual Last Words had her tell Yodon how glad she was that her sacrifice would be of use to him.
Yodonna: Then when I'm gone... It'll... make you unstoppable... won't it, Emperor? Thank goodness...
  • Escaped from Hell: Flees going to Yodon Heaven for another shot at reviving herself.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: She doesn't understand how the Kiramagers win through The Power of Friendship, failing to recognize that their combined teamwork and strong bond allows them to defeat her even when the odds are stacked against them.
  • Evil Costume Switch: As soon as she appears in front of the Kiramagers, she reveals her newly formed Yodon Changer and transforms into her true identity, discarding the shrine maiden clothes.
  • Evil Laugh: Her trying to perfect this has become a Character Tic of sorts, coming across as an attempt to mock the human "culture" of laughing during happy moments. She does this particularly during her Just as Planned moments, often asking "This is where I should laugh, right?"
  • Expy:
    • To Queen Ahames, both white-haired women that are armed with whips and serve as an antagonist group's reinforcement. They even have similar introductions where they pose as normal human girls who play a Super Sentai member like a fiddle.
    • A white-haired person that has trouble understanding human emotions? She's basically an evil version of Naga Ray.
  • Fleeting Demographic Rule: The first human-looking female villain since Escape, which was around 8 years ago.
  • Go Out with a Smile:
    • With the knowledge that her death will rid the emperor of any weaknesses, she fades away with a smile on her face.
    • Happens again in her Spin Off with her happy Mizuki is safe and telling her that she forgives Yodonna for attempting to use her to revive herself, and happy at the emotions she learned about.
  • Hates Being Touched: Menacingly told Tametomo not to get too close to her before knocking him down.
  • Heel–Face Turn: The point of her spin-offs. She ultimately succeeds by the third one.
  • Hotter and Sexier: Her Spin-Off movie features her fighting in a Meido uniform against other Meidos and possessing Mizuki's body by kissing her.
    • Her Super Mode she unlocks against Hanidora also has shades of this.
  • Human Disguise: She is essentially one for Emperor Yodon, allowing him to roam on Earth freely without getting weakened by its radiance.
  • Ironic Echo: After being betrayed and mortally wounded by Emperor Yodon.
Yodonna: (in tears) This is where I should cry, right...?
Emperor Yodon: On the contrary, this is the perfect moment to laugh! For you are dying in service to me!
    Yodonna: I don't think... I... can...
  • It Amused Me: Some of the stuff she does, like poisoning Shiguru with Numajo's venom in episode 34, seems to just be to see how the Kiramagers will react.
  • King Incognito: When we first meet her, she's in a civilian guise as a human Miko.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Before her, the Kiramagers only faced Galza — who while threatening was an outsider to Yodonheim — and the comical Carantula. Yodonna on the other hand is an even bigger threat with the ability to power-up Bechats and Jamenshi, while also being able to create more straightforward and ruthless plans to advance Yodonheim's invasion. The Kiramagers themselves even lampshaded that things got tougher when she got around, especially when considering the fact that they were only able to stop her plans thanks to the additions of the Energia-powered Kiraful Go Arrow and Grateful Phoenix.
  • Lightning Lash: Her staff can turn into a purple energy whip.
  • Light Is Not Good: While most of the Yodonheim abides by Dark Is Evil, Yodonna's costume incorporates brighter colors - blue with silver highlights - than the color schemes of the other Yodonheim generals. She's also one of the most sinister among them.
  • Love Redeems: In her spinoff, after forging a bond with Mizuki and growing to care for her, Yodonna ultimately turns good and allows herself to stay dead rather than revive at the cost of Mizuki's life force.
  • Magic Kiss: In the spinoff, she can fully possess Mizuki's body by kissing her in the Mental World.
  • The Man Behind the Man: Or rather, the Dragon Behind the Dragon. Up until her introduction, Carantula and Galza were assumed to be Emperor Yodon's Co-Dragons, only for her to appear and reveal herself to be of a higher rank than either of them.
  • Maniac Tongue: Tends to fully stick out her tongue or lick her lips during her hammy/sadistic moments.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She manipulates Yujin in #32 to accelerate the growth of the Yodon Ivy in exchange for his and Sayo's safety. She orders his death right after the Yodon Ivy explodes in growth, calling him an idiot afterwards.
  • Master of Disguise: Occasionally dons disguises when she ventures out into the human world, disguising herself as a miko in Episode 25 when she first encounters the Kiramagers and later dressing in street clothes for her rap battle as "MC Yodonna" against Juru in Episode 36.
  • Miko: Disguises herself as one to bypass Takamichi, Tametomo, and Juru.
  • More Deadly Than the Male: Once revealing her true nature to the Kiramagers, Yodonna proved to be a very menacing and intimidating threat to them, somewhat surprising even the likes of Galza.
  • Ms. Fanservice:
    • Averted in the main series, shockingly enough. Unlike most human-faced female villains, she is conservatively dressed from head-to-toe, showing zero skin aside from her face. This is despite the fact that her actress is a well-known gravure and cosplay model, having modeled in Weekly Playboy and other gravure magazines many times before. The only human-looking female villain that comes close is Reversian Succubus Hells, who was a arc villain over 16 years ago. Even her disguises are fairly conservative, with the farthest that she has gotten is her "MC Yodonna" outfit, which shows off her legs, but not much more than that.
    • Played straight in her spinoff where she gets in multiple fight scenes wearing both a schoolgirl outfit and a maid outfit. Technically, Kakihara is wearing them and she's possessing, her body but it's visualized to the audience as Yodonna wearing those outfits when she is in control.
  • Mystical White Hair: Has greyish white hair and is from Yodonheim.
  • Number Two: She describes herself as Emperor Yodon's personal assistant and announces that the Emperor is starting to take the war seriously now, which spells bad news for both the Kiramagers and Yodonheim generals.
  • Odd Name Out: She is one of the only generals that doesn't have an official title. Considering that she's one of Yodon's identities, this may have been deliberate.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: Can power-up the Bechats into zombie-like Bechats, meaning that no matter how many times they're beaten, they'll get back up every time.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: A variant. While her priestess disguise is convincing enough, her disinterested personality and odd mannerisms is a dead giveaway that she's not who she seems to be. Unfortunately, Tametomo and the others don't really seem to care until it's too late. However, what makes her disguise truly work is the fact that no one even knew she existed beforehand besides Carantula.
  • Portmanteau: Her name is one of "Yodon" and onna (Japanese for "woman"). Doubles as Foreshadowing conisdering the fact that she is basically Emperor Yodon in female form.
  • Power at a Price: With her whip, she is able to power-up Bechats or Jamenshi, but at the cost of shortening their lifespan.
  • Proper Tights with a Skirt: Her main outfit has this, as the skirt is a part of her dress.
  • Purple Is Powerful: She has an indigo outfit with purple highlights and her appearance spells bad news to both the Kiramagers and Yodonheim.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Has this in #34 when she curses humans, causing a silhouette of what seems to be Emperor Yodon to come out. It's pretty much foreshadows the truth of what she really is.
  • Redemption Promotion: After being fully revived in Yodonna’s Valentine, she gains a Super Mode on par with a transformed Sentai Hero, managing to handily kill her opponent.
  • Sadist: Explicitly says in her debut that she loves humans when they're "crushed beneath their own terror" as it provides Dark Energy for Yodonheim to use. Then she makes it clear that she absolutely revels in crushing weaklings beneath her own feet, whether it's humans or her own Bechats.
  • Shock and Awe: She can shoot lightning from her eyes when she's displeased, as seen when she is talking with Carantula. Said lightning bolts are somehow able to reach Carantula through the communicator and across dimensions.
  • Shout-Out: To Vinegar Doppio; both are seconds-in-command to their respective superiors (Diavolo/Emperor Yodon) whom they never meet in person, only communicating with and receiving instructions from them through calls. They also turn out to be separate personalities of their superiors.
  • Sir Not-Appearing-in-This-Trailer: What makes her appearance so shocking is that she was not advertised in any way like other generals, and just seemed like just another character of the week the Kiramagers meet and befriend.
  • Split Personality: She is revealed to be one to Emperor Yodon, being of the same body, but she remains unaware of this and the moments Emperor Yodon takes over her (often griping over never getting the chance to personally meet the Emperor herself), until she was told the truth by Galza and Carantula. She finally personally meets the Emperor Yodon personality in episode 42, after Galza enters their subconsciousness and wakes her up.
  • The Stoic: Doesn't express much aside from sadism and contempt. At the end of the second part of her spinoff however Yodonna has gained a regular emotional range and in The Stinger of part two she's notably more expressive than she was before even after being seperated from Kakihara.
  • Sweet Tooth: As of Episode 35, she has an addiction to popsicles.
  • Token Human: She stands out as the only human-looking general out of Yodonheim.
  • Undying Loyalty: She is utterly devoted to Yodon no matter what. She even goes out with a smile on her face knowing that her death will lead the emperor with no weakness, despite the fact that emperor ended up casting her aside for his own purposes during the finale.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Has one in #34 due to Tametomo once again proving that his friendship with the other Kiramagers is what allowed them to foil her plan along with handing her true first defeat in combat.
  • Villainous Crush: Inverted. Tametomo starts out having a crush on her...until she discards her priestess disguise, of course. Though it might come to something in the end after all, as part 2 of her spin off has Yodonna who has developed the ability to feel most human emotions wondering who could possibly teach her about the last one she needs to be completem love. And it promptly cuts to Tametomo who was just teased by Juuru about his brief crush on her.
  • Villain Forgot to Level Grind:
    • Downplayed in the main series. Despite being one of the strongest Yodonheim generals and having the credentials to prove it, she gradually starts to fall behind the Kiramagers and Galza's increasing power levels, eventually getting nearly defeated by Tametomo and Shiguru's tag-team in #34. However, she can most certainly hold her own nonetheless, and often has a lot more up her sleeve than raw strength.
    • In the Yodonna special she has some minor difficulty with some random Yakuza thugs, although she eventually takes them all out. She mentions it's because she's actually using Mizuki's (out of shape according to Yodonna) body.
  • Walking Spoiler: Her appearance in the series completely changes the game for the Kiramagers, especially since her appearance came out of nowhere for both the team and the audience. Not to mention the second bombshell dropped in #37...
  • What Is This Feeling?: In her spin-off, Mizuki helps her identify the various emotions she feels. As it turns out, the Yodon Heaven gatekeeper would have allowed her to come back to life if she could identify the four basic emotions (喜怒哀楽 joy, anger, sadness and pleasure), but as she has offended him by escaping the afterlife on her own...
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: She managed to fulfill the Yodon Heaven's gatekeeper requirements for revival by learning four basic emotions, but as she has escaped from the afterlife without permission, he gives her one additional emotion to master, which is love (愛). It's implied that she will attempt to win Tametomo's heart to achieve this.
  • Whip of Dominance: She is a cold, authoritative, and sadistic villainess who wielded a magical riding crop named Akanben as her weapon of choice. Lashing any Yodonheim member with it would enhance their powers, though it can also overwhelm their bodies to the point of being deathly.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: She has silvery-white hair and is probably one of the most dangerous generals, which is saying a lot.
  • A Wild Rapper Appears!: Shows up as "MC Yodonna" during Carantula and Juru's rap battle to best Juru in round 2, after Carantula beats him in round 1.
  • The Woman Behind the Monsters: While Carantula and Galza are both clearly monstrous, Yodonna resembles a normal woman apart from her attire.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness:
    • She immediately orders her Bechats to dispose of Yujin after he tricked Sayo into inputting a code that accelerated the growth of the Yodon Ivy.
    • She becomes at the receiving end of it when Emperor Yodon kills her to break out of the seal the Kiramagers placed on her (and himself by extension) so as to eliminate both of them at once.

    Shadon

Portrayed by: Takaya Kuroda (voice), Kazuya Okada (suit)

One of the generals of the Yodonheim Empire and their most accomplished hunter, as well as Emperor Yodon's messenger.

Others

    Bechats
The foot soldiers of the Yodonheim Empire.
  • Deadly Upgrade: Yodonna can upgrade Bechats into Hyper Bechats by whipping them. This makes them into faster, stronger and neigh unstoppable zombies, however they don't last long before they crumble into dust.
  • Evil Smells Bad: According to Sena, they emit a very foul odor.
  • Mauve Shirt: Some episodes feature special Bechats that get a bit more characterization.
    • Episode 35 sees Golf Jamen accompanied by a specialized Bechat dressed up like a caddy.
    • Soon after, in episode 36, we get a Bechat dressed up like a DJ who operates Carantula's turntable and sound equipment.
  • Mooks: The Yodonheim Empire's grunt fighting force.
  • Pokémon Speak: Bechat! Becha-becha, bechatto!
  • Punny Name: Their name is a play on the Japanese phrase べちゃべちゃ/bechabecha; "gooey/messy (from mud or ink)".
  • Zerg Rush: Bechats turned into "zombies" by Yodonna discard their weapons in favor of just charging at the opponent. Because they're always in large numbers, this goes hand in hand with making them tricky opponents. Unfortunately the exertion causes them to disintegrate eventually.

    Jamenshi
Commanders of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, created when a Bechat is given a Jamen mask by Carantula, whose goals is the destruction of all beautiful and amazing things on Earth in order to cause negative energy to fill a gauge and open an Invasion Gate. Once opened, a giant Jamen Beast can emerge.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: A minor case, as seen with Golf Jamen, in that they can pass out from drowning, but otherwise would not die from it.
  • Breaking Old Trends: Unusually for Sentai monsters, they are not always defeated in straight combat with a Finishing Move; for example, Rugby Jamen is killed by one of his own bombs, Digital Camera Jamen and SL Jamen are both crushed by their own monsters, Freezer Jamen is betrayed and done in by his allies, and Reset Button Jamen was killed by Galza after going mad from all of his own time loops.
  • Call-Back: To the very first Sentai show. Specifically, they're a homage to the Masked Monsters of Himitsu Sentai Gorenger. They also harken back to a more recent show in Go-Busters, since they herald giant monsters appearing but don't grow themselves.
  • Contrasting Sequel Antagonist: To the Minosaurs from Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger. While the Minosaurs were feral monsters that could, at best, only repeat one or two words spoken by their host, the Jamenshi are all incredibly flamboyant and hammy. They also don't grow giant from collecting misery from people, and gather it from many people at once as opposed to a single host.
  • Demonic Possession: Carantula outright states in episode 24 that Music-type Jamenshi(such as Music and Speaker) have the unique ability to possess a depressed human in order to directly leech off their higher amount of dark energy.
  • Evil Is Hammy: In stark contrast to the completely bestial Jamen Beasts, these guys end up Chewing the Scenery whenever they appear.
  • Logical Weakness: Due to most of them usually having Weaponized Headgear that are mechanical in nature, the Kiramagers would usually stop them temporarily by clogging up their openings/joints with a Kiramai Bullet, or they break down from their own use due to the nature of whatever item they are themed after (such as a projector overheating), allowing the Kiramagers to buy time to strategise a plan to defeat them while they retreat to fix their weapons.
  • Monster of the Week: They are the main enemies the ranger have to deal with.
  • Mook Promotion: They are Bechats who are upgraded by Carantula's Jamen masks.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Some of them, instead of immediately fleeing away, stay still and face their impending doom while stating their last words.

Rugby Jamen

Portrayed by: Miou Tanaka (voice)

Terrorizes in an amusement park through a dangerous game of rugby.
  • Blood Sport: Plays rugby with the risk of everyone blowing themselves up with a bomb.
  • Happy Fun Ball: His balls look like ordinary rugby balls which can explode.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Defeated when Sena slammed his own exploding ruby ball into him.

Vice Jamen

Portrayed by: Yūichi Iguchi (voice)

  • Look Behind You: How he's able to make an opening to hit Kiramai Blue with one of his vices.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: If someone turns the crank on the left side of their head counter-clockwise, it removes all the vices they latched on in the immediate area, although they can deal with this by removing the handle from his vise and using it as a weapon, forcing the Kiramagers to fight him for it.
  • Weaponized Headgear: They're capable of firing energy blasts from the vise from their heads, which lock the victims' heads in vices which constantly inflict pain to them.

Neanderthal Man Jamen

Joystick Jamen

Portrayed by: Kanehira Yamamoto (voice)

  • Evil Puppeteer: He's able to control anyone he looks at by manipulating his joystick.

Digital Camera Jamen

Portrayed by: Shun Horie (voice)

  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Instead of being killed by a finisher, he dies from his Jamen Beast accidentally falling on him.
  • Exorcist Head: Is capable of rotating his head 180 degrees, to catch anyone behind him offguard.

Oven Jamen

Portrayed by: Yuji Ueda (voice)

  • Big Brother Bully: He is rather disrespectful towards his younger brother Freezer Jamen, who in turn hates him.

Freezer Jamen

Portrayed by: Mitsuki Saiga (voice)

  • Birds of a Feather: Subverted. He initially thought he and Galza were this due to their shared dislike of their older brothers, but in the end Galza was just using him.
  • Psycho Serum: He was given one by Galza to strengthen his powers, but at a cost of destroying his body afterwards.
  • Unwitting Pawn: Towards Galza who only used him to test a Psycho Serum and create enough energy to summon a Jamen Beast.

Hyakunin Isshu Jamen

Portrayed by: Yoji Ueda (voice)

  • Card Games: His theme, specifically, it's karuta.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Or in this case, Mundane Made Terrifying. His shtick is basically taking karuta and adding exploding cards on top of it.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Supernatural Powers!: He traps Makino, a Karuta champion, when Galza switches all the cards to a Yodoheim-themed set in the middle of reading his current card.

Music Jamen

Portrayed by: Kenichiro Matsuda (voice)

Reset Button Jamen

Portrayed by: Shinya Hamazoe (voice)

  • Affably Evil: Acts somewhat polite when he greets the Kiramagers. Also, once Tametomo defeated him because of the time loops, he decided to remove the button from his head and passively gave it to him, deciding to quit his invasion and leave, stating to the Kiramager that that's what he wanted from him.
  • Break the Haughty: Oh big time. After experiencing the time loop an indefinite number of times thanks to Tametomo, he just breaks down from pure exhaustion and gives up - to the point of giving up his reset button to Tametomo. He's literally Laughing Mad in his final moments.
  • "Groundhog Day" Loop: His main ability. If he loses, he can just reset time until he defeats the Kiramagers.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Due to his breakdown from the repeated time loops Tametomo caused at him, Reset Button Jamen attempt to quit being in Yodonheim, but Galza decided against it and killed him before he could "defect".
  • Taught by Experience: Every time he hits the reset button, he gradually learns from his experiences fighting the Kiramagers, allowing him to become stronger as a result. The fact that he can remember Sayo's Catchphrase implies he's already done it several times. When Tametomo figures this out, he decides to turn the tide and hit the reset button before the Jamenshi could actually learn anything.

Meteorite Jamen

Portrayed by: Masuo Amada (voice)

  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Subjects the Kiramagers (sans Sayo) to this after he gets his lava head.
    • Takamichi quickly turns the tides on him soon after, defeating him without breaking a sweat.
  • Flaming Meteor: How his meteors are portrayed.
  • Magma Man: After combining with the Monstone, he gained a lava head that can melt things on contact.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He was already pretty damn dangerous considering that he had absolute control over meteors - then he combined with the Monstone and things quickly escalated out of the Kiramagers' hands.
  • The Worf Effect: He hands the Kiramagers their butts on a platter, but unfortunately for him, he's the Monster of the Week in the episode where the Sixth Ranger debuts.

Steam Locomotive Jamen

Portrayed by: Kan Tanaka (voice)

  • Actor Allusion: Coincidentally, his seiyuu also voices Sir Topham Hat in the Japanese dub of Thomas & Friends.
  • Call-Back:
    • His dying words are similar to the very first locomotive-based monster in Sentai history, Locomotive Mask.
    • He often says "all aboard!" note  before making his swift exit.
  • Dropped a Bridge on Him: Suffers the same fate as DigiCamera Jamen, and gets crushed by his own monster.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Gets referred to as only "SL Jamen" for the entirety of the episode.

Marshmallow Jamen

Portrayed by: Masaya Onosaka (voice)

  • Beware the Silly Ones: His wacky motif and appearance belies a natural ability of his that makes him very challenging to defeat unless if an ice-based strategy is involved.
  • Literal Genie: His excuse for turning middle-aged women into marshmallows was that they desired plump and soft marshmallow-like skin.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: He has quite a noticeable gut and trunk compared to the other Jamenshi. His mask is also very simplistic in design (just one marchmallow with two tiny ones stuck in it, like a kid's handicraft).
  • Rubber Man: He's able to absorb and reflect all attacks due to being squishy like a marshmallow, until Tametomo's custom-made ice bullet froze him enough to actually allow him to be damaged.
  • Shout-Out: He is able to turn people into sweets (marshmallows), fat and has a pink elastic body. Majin Buu, anyone?

Whack-a-Mole Jamen

Portrayed by: Hiroyuki Muraoka

  • All That Glitters: He set up shop in an abandoned mansion and attracted victims with piles of fake treasure - amusingly, Takamichi only sees past all that because his real objective (a Kanaema Stone) just happened to be in the mansion as well.
  • Transformation Sequence: A rare moment in any toku when the Monster of the Week gets one, just by donning his Jamen head while in his human disguise.
    "JAMEN ON!"

Relocation Jamen

Portrayed by: Hiroki Shimowada (voice)

  • "Freaky Friday" Flip: His main power. Carantula created him based on the concept of humans moving houses to start a new life, but in this case it's changing bodies.

Glue Jamen

Portrayed by: Shota Hayama (voice)

  • Hoist by His Own Petard: He's beaten after Tametomo and Takamichi find as many things he's covered in glue as they can, then stick them together into a ginormous hammer to smash him. The fact that this was actually Kakihara's idea echoes how Glue Jamen was the reason she got stuck to Juru's glued hand and leading them to their debacle.
  • Jackass Genie: He calls himself a "Cupid of love", who helps humans find their "destined partners" by throwing random objects at them until something sticks.
  • Sticky Situation: His main power.

Fishing Rod Jamen

Portrayed by: Kenta Sasa (voice)

Safe Jamen

Portrayed by: Naoya Uchida (voice)

  • Crazy-Prepared: Turns out the safe gimmick of Safe Jamen's head has several layers of protection in place, forcing our heroes to turn a laser on it.
  • Forced Transformation: Has the ability to turn humans into gold coins, which he then stores in his head.
  • Shock and Awe: Can fire blasts of electricity.

Speaker Jamen

Portrayed by: Tetsuya Kakihara (voice)

Bomb Jamen

Portrayed by: Subaru Kimura (voice)

  • Awesome, but Impractical: The condition required for his bombs to explode. See Cartoon Bomb below.
  • Cartoon Bomb: His whole entire shtick revolves around this as he needs to bowl his bomb-balls and get a full strike on ten victims in one shot to even get them to explode.
  • Epic Fail: He manages to knock all the Kiramagers off their feet in one shot, leaving them vulnerable for his bomb's explosion. What he fails to realize is that there are only six of them, which meant that the bomb couldn't explode.
  • Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: It's not really his own fault, but the condition required for his bombs to go off makes him ineffective at gathering darkness and a weak fighter against the Kiramagers.
  • Me's a Crowd: Yodonna turns him into 5 clones, to simultaneously bomb 5 stress points on a mountain to turn it into a crater.

Superglue Jamen

Portrayed by: Masaaki Yano (voice)

  • Palette Swap: He is stated to be an upgraded repaint of Glue Jamen, and also his younger brother.
  • Stronger Sibling: His glue is much stronger than his brother's.

Mannequin Jamen

Portrayed by: Kosuke Toriumi (voice)

  • Puppet Permutation: At first he could only turn people into stiff unmoving statues, but after Yodonna's power-up can transforms them into actual mannequins.

Nazokake Jamen

Portrayed by: Nezucchi (voice)

  • Pungeon Master: His riddles are based on puns.
  • Riddle Me This: His whole shtick is based upon this, in the form of Pun-based riddles. Civilians get "punished" with the Bechats smacking their butts for being unable to solve them, while opponents (such as the Kiramagers) are stuck with markers that prevent them from landing any attacks onto him unless they can solve his riddle.

Golf Jamen

Portrayed by: Kazuya Ichijō (voice)

  • Fusion Dance: He gains this ability after fusing with a Monstone, allowing him to fuse his victims with wherever they land via generated portals. An accidental use of this causes Takamichi to be fused into Cart Hildon's head.
  • Golf Clubbing: Its main modus operandi was to send victims flying with his golf club and aim to land them into objects with a large enough hole, such as a trash bin.
  • Stealth Pun: The only thing that can slow down a Monstone-charged Golf Jamen - being trapped inside Machine Drijan after it's sinking into a lake and flooding with water. It's a water hazard.

Tooth Decay Jamen

Portrayed by: Tetsuya Yanagihara (voice)

Wire Jamen

Portrayed by: Shuichiro Ohtani (voice)

  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: He's able to disguise himself as anyone by tightly shaping his wires around him, however it is flawed in that he'll always have a tiny bit of excess wire sticking out of his body, which he tries to cover up with bandage.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: After losing the Jamen Beast, Yodonna appears to him before he's destroyed, just to take back the Kanaema Stone first.

Maneki-neko Jamen

Portrayed by: Taiten Kusunoki (voice)

  • Brown Note: After being powered up by Yodonna, his bell's ring causes all cat-humans he's created to go berserk.
  • Cats Hate Water: Takamichi drilling down and unleashing the water of a spring serves as both his and Cat Can Ligany's undoing, as this completely throws him off long enough for him to eat a finisher from the Kiraful Go Arrow.
  • Maneki Neko: Is modelled on one.
  • Power Makes Your Voice Deep: His voice goes down several octaves after receiving a power-up via Yodonna's whip.
  • Stock Animal Behavior: His main power is to make humans act like cats, slacking off and never getting any work done. That being said, he's also prone to slacking off like a cat himself.

    Jamen Beasts
Giant beasts that are created from the Invasion Gate, which Carantula can open after the meter on his Gauge Scepter reaches full capacity. Currently, there are six races known: Hildon, Ligany, Shellga, Basra, Dagames, and Gomoryu.

In General

  • Animal Motifs: The Jamen Beasts are based on specific animals
    • The Hildons are based on a leech. The name is based on hiru.
    • The Liganys are based on a crayfish. The name is based on zarigani.
    • The Shellgas are based on a snail. The name is based on shell.
    • The Basras are based on a black bass. The name is based on bass.
    • The Dagames are based on a type giant water bug called Lethocerus deyrollei, in turn that name being derived from tagame, the Japanese name for the water bug.
    • The Gomoryu is based on a bat. Its name is based on komori.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Their appearances are very Kaiju-like.
  • Elite Mook: The Gomoryu-types for Jamen Beasts as a whole - they're literally twice as large and only brought out for special occasions.
  • Forced Transformation: After obtaining the Kanaema Stone Illusia, Carantula revises his plans to instead use it to turn humans themselves into Jamen Beasts from their despair, dropping his futile original plans of importing the Yodon's own army with a large enough gate. This only lasted for one attempt, however.
  • Kaiju: Like Go-Buster's Megazords and Abaranger's Giganoids, they're giants from the start. They also look a lot more like traditional Kaiju than most Super Sentai monsters; except for the masks, they could have come from Godzilla or Ultraman.
  • Logical Weakness: Like the Jamenshi, their masks and abilities are also prone to the mechanical breakdowns and weaknesses of the item they are themed after.
    • The stronger Jamen Beasts also often consume a lot of energy, requiring them take a forced retreat after burning out to either rest, eat or cool down for a period of time before they can resume wreaking havoc.
  • Monster of the Week: After the Jamenshi, they are also the main enemy the Mashins then have to deal with. Though, there are many instances that they can appear without a Jamenshi before them, such as episode 1, 13, and so forth.
  • Multiple Head Case: The Dagames are two-headed and are thus the only Jamen Beast race able to equip two masks at once, but it is rather ambiguous if both heads are sentient or share the same mind.

Hassha Ligany

A missile launcher themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, released from the invasion gate created from the dark energy gathered by Marshmallow Jamen.
  • Taught by Experience: Why Carantula made this Jamen Beast a rehash of Hassha Button Ligany.
Carantula: The Hassha Button Ligany from last time was done in before it could press its button, but this time it has no button, so fire away!!

Motorboat Basra

A motorboat-themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, released from the invasion gate created from the dark energy gathered by Fishing Rod Jamen.
  • Intangibility: It is able to pass through the ground and buildings without damaging them, which is why neither Mashin Drijan or Express are able to chase it without damaging the city.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Has the speed and strength to take down Kiramazin and GigantDriller hard.

Gold Bar Ligany

A gold bar-themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, released from the invasion gate created from the dark energy gathered by Safe Jamen.

Jukebox Hildon

A jukebox themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, released from the invasion gate created from the dark energy gathered by Speaker Jamen.
  • Deadly Disc: It can eject CDs at the rate of a machine gun.
  • Outdated Outfit: In a sense; Juru, being the youngest, doesn't actually know the item it was themed after.
Takamichi: A jukebox? More music attacks!?
    Juru: ...What's a jukebox?

Superglue Shellga

A superglue themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, released from the invasion gate created from the dark energy gathered by Superglue Jamen.

Projector Gomoryu

A projector-themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim.
  • Blow You Away: Can generate powerful gusts of wind by flapping its wings.
  • Chameleon Camouflage: Can appear invisible by projecting a holographic field around itself, though it is reliant on the tablet Yodonna uses to record background footage.
  • Eye Beams: Can fire energy beams from its single eye.
  • Knight of Cerebus: Stated to have helped destroy Crystalia and manages to take down the Mashins in battle.
  • Shout-Out: Its design is a mishmash of Pestar from Ultraman and King Ghidorah from Godzilla.

Tank Ligany

A tank-themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, released from the invasion gate created from the dark energy gathered by Nazokake Jamen.
  • BFG: Thanks to having a tank turret for a head, he's the firepower of the trio.

Shield Shellga

A Tiki shield-themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, released from the invasion gate created from the dark energy gathered by Nazokake Jamen.

Sengoku Basra

Cart Hildon

A golf cart-themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, released from the invasion gate created from the dark energy gathered by Golf Jamen.
  • Abnormal Ammo: It fires missiles in the shape of golf clubs.
  • Combat Tentacles: Primarily uses its tentacles as melee weapons.
  • Fighting from the Inside: It fights against Takamichi, fused into its head from an accident with Golf Jamen, for control of its own body. It eventually manages to regain control.

Turntable Gomoryu

A turntable-themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, released from the invasion gate created from the dark energy gathered by the victims of Carantula's "dark rap".

Kiba Basra

A bear trap-themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim.

Jishiki Shellga

A brain-themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, created by Wire Jamen through the Kanaema Stone Illusia, from the despair of manga artist Saburo Hatta over having lost a competition and being mocked online for his efforts.
  • Meaningful Name: Its name actually means "self-consciousness", as it was born from Saburo's despair over being ridiculed, while its Jamen is also decorated with representations of Saburo's favourite things.
  • Taking the Bullet: It does this when Kiramaizin attempts to attack the Wire Jamen standing atop its head, due to Saburo being under the illusion that the Jamenshi was his best friend Calorie and that the Kiramagers were trying to harm him.

Cat Can Ligany

A cat food can-themed Jamen Beast of the Dark Empire Yodonheim, released from the invasion gate created from the dark energy gathered by Maneki-neko Jamen.
  • Cats Hate Water: Just like regular cats, it cannot stand water. Takamichi exploits this by spraying water from an underground spring at it. The water also goes on Maneki-neko Jamen, incapacitating the Jamenshi as well.

    Monstones
Living, but mindless stones who possess tremendous power and are able to forcefully merge with other objects and living beings to enhance their power, at the cost of the being's health.
  • Chest Monster: They emit energy similar to Kanaema Stones, which makes Takamichi's treasure hunting more dangerous.
  • Evil Counterpart: To Kiramai Stones in general - while they develop sentience and personality over centuries, Monstones only display chaos and violence.
  • Expy: They have a similar role to the Death Worms of Uchu Sentai Kyuranger since they are enemies who are not truly a part of the evil forces and are more akin to non-sentient monsters who suddenly appear like a natural disaster, but still pose a threat to the sentai they face.
  • Giant Space Flea from Nowhere: Discounting the "space" part, Monstones are a natural occurrence that can take centuries to form, and without warning.
  • Hate Plague: Can dissipate into dust to forcibly enter an organic host, causing them to go berserk. Counts as a Deadly Upgrade since the host may burn out from the exertion.
  • Ironic Death: Monstones latch on to beings to give them more power at the cost of their health, so it is rather ironic that the Monstone who absorbed the Energia Kanaema Stone ended up dying due to being overcharged by the stone's power.
  • Make My Monster Grow: Episode 25 - absorbing the Energia Kanaema Stone causes a Monstone to grow to kaiju size. At least there's only one of those in the known universe...
  • Not in This for Your Revolution: Monstones are not a true part of Yodonheim's forces, but they still support their goals indirectly by parasitizing a Jamenshi or keeping the Kiramagers busy.
  • Super Mode: A shot of Jamentality can mutate one of these guys into a spiky, purple and very dangerous form.
