    Cameron "Cammie" Morgan 

Cammie Morgan

  • Affectionate Nickname: Her aunt Abby calls her Squirt, which Cammie doesn't like.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Cammie in the fifth book, to the point where she can assemble a gun in no time flat and have no idea how she did it.
  • Broken Ace: In Book 5, after being tortured, she is this.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: It's implied and later confirmed in the fifth book that Cammie when through this when the Circle held her captive.
  • Disappeared Dad: Cammie's father is dead due to a mission gone wrong. The details of what happened exactly are unknown, and is a mystery that plagues Cammie's mind throughout the series.
  • Expository Hairstyle Change: Cammie cuts and dyes her hair bottle-black while on the run. She later has it bleached and returned to normal to deal with the emotional trauma.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Becomes friends with Macey when they start working together to investigate Josh and help Cammie secretly date him.
  • Girl Next Door: She sees herself as this when compared to her friends. Josh
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: Cammie, especially in the first book when her spy status makes it difficult to have a relationship with Josh, a regular civilian.

  • Secret-Keeper: In the first book she helps her mother and Professor Buckingham by keeping from Bex the news that her parents missed their call-in, to prevent Bex from worrying that her parents might have been made.
  • She Cleans Up Nicely: During her movie date with Josh, Josh is amazed at how beautiful Cammie looks.
  • Sleepwalking: Happens many times to Cammie in Out of Sight, Out of Time, to the point where it frightens her. It frequently leads her to places she'd visited during the summer she can't remember.
  • Street Smart: Cammie, since it comes with the pavement artist territory.
  • Wardrobe Malfunction: Cammie's strapless bra falls off during a ball at her school (which was actually a cumulative exam). Unfortunately, hilarity does not ensue. Instead, a Code Black is declared because someone has breached the school's security.

    Rebecca "Bex" Baxter 
Cammie's best friend and roommate.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Sometimes calls Liz 'Lizzie'.
  • Afraid of Needles: Is afraid of needles, much to Cammie's surprise.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Is furious with Cammie for running away from the Academy, because of how scared she was for her.
  • Cute Bruiser: She's the physically strongest of the Gallagher Girls and has no problem attracting boys. As the series progresses, she becomes more of an Amazonian Beauty.
  • Drama Queen: Is known for this.
  • Drives Like Crazy: Bex, as she's used to driving on the opposite side of the road.
  • Fake American: In-Universe. Bex dons an American accent while giving the McHenrys the fake grand tour in the first book.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Becomes friends with Macey when they start working together to investigate Josh and help Cammie secretly date him.
  • In-Series Nickname: All of her friends call her Bex. Her actual full name is Rebecca.
  • Not So Stoic: Bex, after almost being stabbed by a sniper in Out of Sight, Out of Time.

    Elizabeth "Liz" Sutton 
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: Is known to be very clumsy.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Becomes friends with Macey when they start working together to investigate Josh and help Cammie secretly date him.
  • Genius Ditz: While being published in a science journal at a very young age, Liz can't seem to stop herself from accidentally knocking over everything in sight.
  • Minored In Ass Kicking: Liz may want to work behind-the-scenes, but she can take someone down if she wants to.
  • Omniglot: Apparently the students at Gallagher learn fourteen languages.
  • Super-Speed Reading: Liz, to go along with her Photographic Memory.
  • Teen Genius: Cammie identifies herself and the other Gallagher girls as geniuses, but the ultimate example is definitely Liz.

    Macey McHenry 
  • Alliterative Name: Both her first name and surname start with the letter M.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Both she and Bex are furious with Cammie in the fifth book because of how scared they were for her when she ran away from the Academy during the summer to hunt the Circle of Cavan.
  • Bratty Teenage Daughter: Macey is a genuine one in the beginning of the series, but as she finds herself at home in the Gallagher Academy, this behavior ends up just being her cover when with her parents.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Becomes friends with Cammie, Bex and Liz when they start working together to investigate Josh and help Cammie secretly date him.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: Poor Macey; her parents care more about the campaign trail than her.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: Is this once she warms up to Cammie, Bex and Liz.
  • Omniglot: Apparently the students at Gallagher learn fourteen languages.
  • Secret-Keeper: Finds out from Cammie that Bex's parents might've been made in the first book. She keeps the secret from Bex along with Cammie.

  • Smarter Than You Look: Macey turns out to have outstanding test scores and is versed in French.
  • Took a Level in Badass: After Cammie returns from running away, she finds out that Macey has trained to the level of her and her classmates.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Gives this to Cammie after she comes back to the Academy in the fifth book.

    Zach Goode 
A student who attends the Blackthorne Institute for Boys. He has a mysterious past and is very interested in Cammie.
  • Birds of a Feather: He and Cammie are eventually shown to be this, with similar backgrounds and skills. It actually leads to miscommunication, because they can't read each other very well.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Cammie gives him this when she snaps at him for always keeping secrets from her in the fourth book.

    Headmistress Rachel Morgan 
Cammie's mother and the headmistress of the Gallagher Academy. She is also the wife of Agent Matthew Morgan, who went MIA during a mission.

    Professor Patricia Buckingham 
A retired agent who was active during WWII. She was the Covert Operations teacher prior to the series. She has a cat named Onyx.

    Joe Solomon 
The Gallagher Academy's very handsome Covert Operations teacher.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: In the fourth book his status as a Circle of Cavan agent is uncovered and he is forced to go on the run.
  • Hidden Depths: At first it seems like he's just any other secret agent. Turns out he's secretly part of the Circle of Cavan and was Matthew Morgan's best friend. He's also in love with Cammie's mother.
  • It's All My Fault: Blames himself for Matt's disappearance, as it was because he was put on desk duty that Matt had to go to Athens in his place.
  • Manly Tears: Cries after the Circle attempt to abduct Cammie at the end of the third book.
  • Past Experience Nightmare: According to Matthew Morgan's journal, he had nightmares about the assassinations he did while working for the Circle.
  • Professional Killer: Was trained to be this in the Blackthorne Institute for Boys.
