Characters debuting in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition / Season 3

    Falke
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/falke_alt_pic.png
And... let's begin.

Fighting style: Psycho Power & Bojutsu
Appears in: SFV (DLC)
Voiced by: note

A member of Ed's Neo-Shadaloo group. She carries a bo staff and looks very much like a female version of Ed. She is stated to be a clone-body replacement for Bison, and underwent terrible experiments and harsh training at the hands of Shadaloo as they attempted to create her into the perfect soldier. Before spiralling into deep despair, she was rescued by Ed, and the two now share a close bond — their mission being to travel the world to help others like them.

Falke is a zoning-footsies fighter designed around outmaneuvering her foes, poking and prodding their mistakes at every turn. As Ed's right hand, she shares much the same gameplay quirk of not utilizing motion inputs of any kind outside of her Critical Art. What separates her from Ed, however, is how her button charge inputs work. Unlike Ed, who can delay his attacks when certain buttons are held down, Falke has a mechanic akin to a Mega Buster; by holding down any Punch button, Falke is able to "store" Psycho Power within her staff, and releasing the button in conjunction with whatever state of movement she's currently engaged in will cause her to fire specific types of projectiles.

  • Bad Powers, Good People: She uses Psycho Power, which depends on negative emotions, as a result of being a clone created by Shadaloo and/or the experiments that it forced her to be the test subject of. She is not a villain, though.
  • Boom Stick: She carries a bo staff named Harmony. Combined with her ability to channel Psycho Power through objects, she's able to fire energy through it like a gun.
  • Casting a Shadow: Like Ed, she is also able to utilize Bison's Psycho Power. In her case, she has the unique ability to infuse Psycho Power into objects and release it through them, mainly through her staff.
  • Distaff Counterpart: She greatly resembles a female version of Ed, as they share the same hair color, hairstyle, eye color, and wear similar clothing due to both being part of Neo Shadaloo.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She appeared in Ed's Story Mode ending before becoming a playable character.
  • Excessive Evil Eyeshadow: Most of the women in the series aren't depicted wearing any obvious make-up, though Falke is the exception, sporting bright green eye-shadow, nail polish, and (unusually) bright green lipstick, which lends her a sultry, slightly vampish quality, though she's more accurately Not Evil, Just Misunderstood.
  • Feminine Women Can Cook: She's shown cooking and cleaning in her Arcade Mode ending. The CFN website also states her to be skilled at housework.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Her and Ed. Having both endured similar harsh treatment at the hands of Shadaloo, before escaping, the two have a sibling-like bond and are searching for others like them in need.
  • Foolish Sibling, Responsible Sibling: She is the responsible to Ed's foolish, although they are not siblings, just raised together. This is shown in her Arcade Mode ending, where she's cooking and cleaning while Ed fools around and plays with toys.
  • Goggles Do Nothing: Her Battle Outfit includes a pair of goggles that she wears wrapped around her forehead.
  • Gratuitous German: The names of her moves are all in German — "kugel" (sphere/bullet), "kanonen" (cannons), "feder" (feather), "sturm" (storm), "angriff" (attack) and she even speaks a little German — "Guten Tag" note  — though she isn't voiced with a German accent, and her nationality is only listed as "unknown” on the official Japanese site. However, in her introductory blog entry, Capcom Germany does confirm her to be of German descent — "Falke ist deutscher Abstammung".
  • Hell-Bent for Leather: Her Battle Outfit is a Badass Biker-style leather outfit.
  • High Collar of Doom: Both her default outfit and her premium outfit include high collars.
  • I Call It "Vera": Her staff is named "Harmony".
  • I Just Want to Be Free: After being put through painful experiments and Training from Hell by Shadaloo, Falke wanted nothing more than to escape her captors, which she eventually did with help from Ed.
  • Martial Arts Headband: Sports one in her Story costume, which fits since these are evidently her training clothes.
  • Meaningful Name: "Falke", pronounced "Fall-kuh", is a Germanic/Nordic name meaning "Falcon", and she is known as "The Guardian Hawk". The in-game announcer pronounces her name incorrectly — "Falk" in the English version and "Fal-kay" in the Japanese version.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: Just like Ed, Falke's moves are mostly 1 or 2 button inputs and one-direction inputs.
  • Mysterious Past: Falke is stated to be a clone-body replacement for Bison, but she also has a clear, strong connection to the country of Germany. Despite several rather blatant references and hints note , only Capcom Germany has clarified that she is of “German descent”.
  • Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: Falke and Ed want nothing to do with Bison, and want to help others like them who have been tortured by Shadaloo. However, they dress in a sinister style and wield Bison's Psycho Power, which seems to make other characters who have fought Shadaloo antagonistic against them, according to a few win quotes.
Chun-Li: (Vs. Falke) I'm sorry to hear what you've been through, but your connections to Shadaloo can't be overlooked.
Falke: (Vs. Chun-Li) We have nothing to do with that monster. Leave us alone!
Guile: (Vs. Falke) I couldn't let power like yours go unchecked.
Falke: (Vs. Guile) This mark on my hand is symbolic of my terrible past, but I guess to you it makes me nothing but a target...
  • Parts Unknown: Zigzagged. Despite her German name, a movelist all in German, and the fact that the slipstream effect that accompanies her critical art is patterned in the red, black and gold of the Bundesflagge und Handelsflagge (German flag), her bio simply lists her as having an "unknown" nationality on the Capcom Japan site — which, rather excessively, makes her the sixth new character in V to have an ambiguous background. However, Capcom Germany does confirm her to be of German descent, via her introductory blog entry — “Falke ist deutscher Abstammung” note .
  • Past Experience Nightmare: Much like Ed, Falke also suffers from nightmares due to her treatment by Shadaloo. In her Character Story, we get to see one involving a giant, horribly distorted M. Bison head.
  • The Perfectionist: According to her CFN profile, she strives for perfection in all aspects of her life.
  • Putting on the Reich: Bison's design is intentionally meant to invoke fascist comparisons, and thus Shadaloo uniforms like hers have always been reminiscent of Nazis. In addition, she is turquoise-eyed and blonde, has a Germanic name, has a movelist all in German, speaks German and is "of German descent".
  • Rapid Aging: She's a clone who matures at the same rapid rate as Ed. Her Character Story shows her to be a teenager at the same time as Ed was.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's 5'9", tying with C. Viper, Poison, and Laura as the fourth-tallest female character after Marisa (6'8"), Elena (6'0") and Rose (5'10"). Falke is also quite the looker.
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: Not only does she use her bo staff as a blunt weapon, but she can charge it up with Psycho Power and essentially turn it into a gun. If she fires it while standing, the energy explodes out like a shotgun blast, while jumping, she fires diagonally downward, and while crouching, she fires it like a rifle. She can even use it to bat enemies away, pole vault or pogo off of enemies. It seems to do any task that can pops up if one Googles "pole" or "stick".
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Milk tea, apparently.
  • Training from Hell: She was put through painful experiments and forced to train day after day. She wanted nothing more than to escape, which Ed helped her do.
  • Younger Than They Look: Since she suffers from the same Rapid Aging effects as Ed, she's a lot younger than she appears. Unlike Ed, though, she acts a lot more mature and composed. This is exemplified by her Arcade Mode ending, where she's shown doing chores like cooking, cleaning and laundry, while Ed plays with toys. May be a byproduct of her being a clone body rather than a born human child.

    G

I'll fight this battle. Why? Because it is my duty.

Origin: The Earth
Appears in: SFV (DLC)
Voiced by: note
Portrayed by: note

A mysterious man who has ambitions to unite the nations and people of the world as one, and rule as President. Utilizing the power of the Earth itself, he's able to manipulate magma. He tries to spread his message through social media site FooTube, but doesn't gain any traction until his message reaches Rashid, who becomes a follower and helps to spread the word by challenging him to a fight.

Gameplay-wise, G is a mid-to-close brawler-grappler hybrid who can output huge bursts of damage at any given moment. He has a unique system called "Presidentiality Level", which increases whenever he uses his G Charge special move and powers up his special moves up to 3 levels. Also unique to him as of the final season of he game is the ability to cancel any one of his special moves into an EX special move. G is gifted with a projectile that fires in an odd, diagonal arc which can be difficult for some characters to overcome, a series of dashing punches, a moonsaulting kick that sails over projectiles, and a devastating command grab which starts his momentum. Of note is his 1st V-Trigger, which puts him into a special state of Presidentiality that allows him to cancel his specials into other specials without having to waste a bar of EX meter, and also buffs his 1st V-Skill, which is a barrier that nullifies projectiles and becomes one when empowered by his V-Trigger that beats out all others, including Critical Arts. Those who have played past games in the series may find G's fighting style strangely familiar...

  • Action Politician: His political position is entirely self-declared, but he is actively campaigning around the world by giving speeches and showing off how powerful he is through street fighting.
  • All-Loving Hero: At least that's how he presents himself. He greets Rashid and Menat warmly during his fights with them, and his win quotes against other characters, when he's not talking about himself, tend to be complimentary or sympathetic. He doesn't even treat evil characters like Bison or Urien much different than he would anyone else, and instead sees them as potential allies to his cause.
  • All Your Powers Combined: His Fighting Style in a nutshell, being described as a Mixed Martial Art that combines every style in the world.
  • Ambiguously Evil: His main goal is to basically take over the world and rule as President, which sounds evil, but he seems to want to be a good ruler. On the other hand, he has a habit of pulling some pretty evil looking faces, and his story ends with him beginning to rise in popularity, which is treated ominously. His arcade mode ending also has him gain a load of followers (including Dan, Hakan and Elena), and it's still unclear whether or not his intentions are pure. Dhalsim's winquote against him states he is unable to sense any evil in G, although it's unknown just how accurate Dhalsim's ability to detect evil is.
    • He’s considered to be part of the "legacy boss" group of fighters—which include fellow villains Sagat, M. Bison, Gill, and Seth, further putting his allegiance in question.
    • He’s allegedly meant to be the Final Boss of the game as a whole. Whether that means he truly is villainous, or if he's meant to be a final test for whichever World Warrior ends up facing him (since he'd want a protector of his world being truly strong enough for the job) is debatable.
    • Not even Rose can confirm or deny whether his intentions are evil or not, but what she can confirm is that G has seen the same future that Rose has: the end of the world.
  • Ambiguously Human: While G looks (mostly) human, some features of his personality and powers are strange enough that rampant speculation about his origin abounds.
  • Ambiguous Situation: By far the most prominent questions regarding him are whether or not he's actually Q from 3rd Strike, or if he's even connected to Q at all. The world may never know...
  • Animated Tattoo: The tattoo of the world on his arms actually revolves like a globe.
  • Artistic License – Martial Arts: One of his moves looks like a Question Mark Kick that has two hits. That said, the first, the Snap Kick, isn't meant to hit, merely be a feint, in real life.
  • Authority in Name Only: He's already declared himself President of the World, although nobody is really taking that seriously.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: Aside from the lack of sleeves, he wears a full suit, including a long coat with a vest, a top hat, an old fashioned bolo-tie, and he even has a gold watch and chain dangling from his pocket.
  • Barrier Warrior: G's V-Skill I, G Barrier, creates an energy shield around his body that can absorb one-hit projectiles, and can even be performed in the air. It also hits opponents if he performs the move close enough to them, and when fully powered up by his V-Trigger I, he fires the shield itself as a projectile after using it.
  • Berserk Button: The only thing to crack G's friendly and respectful attitude is Vega's insinuation about beauty.
What is beauty? The answer is simple! It is nothing without me! NOTHING!
  • Beware the Silly Ones: He's a weird looking old guy and has a hammy personality, always acting like he's giving a speech to the people of Earth, though he’s immensely powerful. Rashid initially fights G for amusement, and Menat initially thinks he's an idiot, but G wins both fights and they're both left questioning what his deal is.
  • Big Good: Certainly sees himself as such, going by his versus quote to Cody.
You care for your citizens, so you are mayor. I care for the Earth's citizens, and so I am their president!
  • Boxing Battler: His stance is based on 19th-century boxers, especially notable in his character intro.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: When playing G's Demonstrations, he talks to the player, explaining how his moves work.
  • Broken Record: He really doesn't talk about anything other than how he's President of the World and how we're all one. Even when directly confronted by Gill, G does nothing to answer Gill's questions and always changes the subject to himself and his cause.
Gill: Let me ask. What is it you see when you gaze upon me?
G: What is it that I am seeing? There is no point discussing that. My vision, and what we have been searching for, have always been one!
Gill: Your answer is most obtuse. I'll rephrase. What do you wish for my "Gate of Harmony"? What are your plans?
G: Good sir, we are all earthlings, and therefore must all have one wish. And that is... to become one with the Earth, and I, who is President of the World!
  • Catchphrase: "We are one", which he treats like a campaign slogan.
  • Chrome Champion: He has gold coating on parts of his face and arms. Look closely, and you'll see that they form a world map. When in his V-Triggered state, his tattoos turn black while the rest of his skin becomes gold.
  • Coat, Hat, Mask: His Story outfit has him don a trenchcoat, fedora and mask that all make him look suspiciously similar to Q. Color 15 is even colored the exact same way as Q's outfit.
  • Color Motif: Black and gold. He wears a black outfit and the tattoos on his arms are gold. When he's in his V-Trigger I state, his skin becomes gold while his tattoos become black. Interestingly, this color motif matches the game's character select screen, which includes a globe in the center with gold continents and black oceans.
  • Connected All Along: Gill has seen G's powers before, though he does not remember where.
  • Cosmic Entity: Because G is not only the President of the World, but also of the entire universe, G is one such being. This has been l confirmed by Capcom, who said “G is a cosmic-like power that we have so little knowledge of”.
  • Crushing Handshake: He uses one on Rashid after their fight. His Arcade Mode ending has him shake hands with Dan, Hakan and Elena much more calmly.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: G's playstyle revolves around raising his Presidentiality to level 3, which enhances the strength of his special moves. Getting knocked down will lower his Presidentiality by one. Thus, maintaining a Level 3 Presidentiality throughout the fight can be tricky for first timers. Once that hurdle is jumped, however, G can overwhelm his opponents with immense pressure, attacking with a relentless assault of enhanced special moves.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: His projectile attack has him create a miniature meteor from smaller rocks and fire it at an angle towards the ground. When fully powered up, the impact creates a splash of lava.
  • Eagle Land: Though he is a citizen of the Earth, his aesthetic borrows heavily from Abraham Lincoln and Uncle Sam.
  • Egomaniac Hunter: G's Battle costume is a vintage hunting outfit, complete with a rifle hanging off his shoulder.
  • Elemental Powers: He utilizes magma in his moves, and he gains his strength from the Earth itself.
  • Elemental Punch: His V-Trigger II, Dangerous President, ignites his fists aflame.
  • Eloquent in My Native Tongue: G's Japanese voice is hammy, somewhat off-beat, and leans heavily on Gratuitous English. His English voice on the other hand, is eloquent and well-mannered in the fashion of a man giving a speech.
  • Energy Absorption: His G Charge move has him absorb energy from the Earth itself, which increases his Presidentiality up to three levels and enhances the strength of his special moves.
  • Fictional Social Network: When G first arrives on the scene, his FooTube page isn't doing well, but he gains traction pretty quickly. The first video shown only has 104 views and 2 dislikes. However, Rashid finds the video and thinks he's interesting, and decides to challenge him for his "Let's Fight" series. G's video of him and Rashid fighting gains 2249 views, with 8 likes and 2 dislikes, and has evidently been viewed by Karin, Kolin, Dhalsim, Zangief and Mika. Then he gains Menat's attention and fights her. The last video has 28789 views with 2805 likes and 3 dislikes. Eventually, he gains the attention of none other than Gill, who decides to fight G and use his series to expose his existence to the public.
  • Final Boss: According to the developers, G is intended to be the boss of V as a whole. However, he was not part of the roster during the release of A Shadow Falls—the only true story mode within the game at the time that statement was made—thus M. Bison appeared to more aptly fulfill the role.
  • Finger Gun: His Critical Art, Pangaea Burst, is fired from his index finger in this style.
  • Foil: He serves as one to Urien. Both are powerful fighters who aspire to rule the world and both have the ability to coat themselves in a hard substance (Gold for G, Metal for Urien). However, G claims to have the Earth's best interests at heart and is an all-around affable man while Urien cares for no one but himself and is an arrogant and violent individual. Also, G holds power over fire and magma while Urien holds power over electricity. Both characters can erect a barrier as part of their movesets that can also be used for offensive purposes, but Urien's Aegis Reflector can only defend against frontal attacks while G's G-Barrier can defend against attacks from all sides. G's trailer and Character Introduction videos play this up by having Urien be G's opponent.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: At the EVO 2018 world finals, G's English voice actor appeared in full cosplay, interrupted series producer Yoshinori Ono, and gave a speech in-character introducing himself and his motivations before the trailer showcasing his moveset was played.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: In this Bengus poster, also present in his Story costume.
  • Gold-Colored Superiority: He's the "President of the Earth" after all. His powers include being able to harness gold to perform all sorts of elemental attacks like firing liquid gold projectiles, creating barriers, and enhancing his strength to perform devastating punches. Parts of his skin appear to be covered in some kind of gold coating in the shape of the world map — both American continents are depicted on his right arm, for example, and it lights up whenever he activates his V-Trigger.
  • Golden Super Mode: G's V-Trigger I coats his skin in gold, while his tattoos turn black.
  • Good Counterpart: If his claims regarding his intentions and powers are true, then he can be seen as this to M. Bison. Both are men who strive to unite and rule the Earth, and are stylized after world leaders (Bison is a dictator while G considers himself a president). They also use powers that draw strength from the world around them, and gather allies through charisma and politeness. However, while Bison wants to rule all nations and peoples for the sake of power, G wants to guide and protect humanity. While Bison wields Psycho Power, which becomes stronger by feeding on the negative emotions of others, G wields the power of Gaia, which draws strength from the Earth and its citizens. Finally, Bison has no qualms about forcing individuals to work for him should his attempts at persuasion fail, while G wants people to follow him of their own accord. G also sees himself as the series' Big Good, which contrasts Bison's role as its Big Bad (barring III and IV). There's also the fact that Rose said in IV that only The Fool can put an end to Bison. This was heavily implied to be Ryu, and while Ryu did manage to destroy Bison's physical form, Bison still lives on in a phantom-like form. G is outright stated to be The Fool in his story, implying that he'll be the one to put a permanent end to Bison.
  • Good with Numbers: One of his listed special skills is mental calculation.
  • Grapple Move: G Rage, a move exclusive to his V-Trigger II, has him grab his opponent and powerslam them into the ground.
  • Gratuitous English: He still uses English in his Japanese voice. Whenever he says "Earth", due to Japanese pronounciation substituting "th" sounds with "s" sounds, it turns into a very... unfortunate and hilarious pronounciation.
    POWAH TO ZE ASS!
  • Hand Blast: His Critical Art, Pangaea Burst, charges his hands with lava, which he then fires like a gun.
  • Handshake Refusal: His taunt has him offer the opponent a handshake, only to pull his hand back after the opponent doesn't shake it and say they disappoint him.
  • Home Stage: He apparently made enough money through his streaming to buy his own Space Station, the "Ring of Galaxy" stage.
  • Ice-Cream Koan: Many of his win quote speeches make absolutely no sense, aside from sounding vaguely "inspirational".
  • Idle Animation: G has a particularly long one with a lot of buildup. After about 20 seconds, he'll clear his throat. Another 20 seconds later, he'll change his standing pose. After about another 20 seconds, he'll do a disco pose, and his Earthly energy will explode from his finger, causing a whopping 600 damage and 600 stun.
  • Image Song: G's trailer has one in the form of a rap performed by Dan the Automator, Domino, and Del tha Funkee Homosapien.
  • In the Future, Humans Will Be One Race: His aim is to lead and unite the entire global population under one nationality — that of simply “The Earth” — and so his own birthplace is simply listed as such in his official bio.
  • It's All About Me: Since he believes he's the representative of the Earth itself and that all life on Earth is connected, he tends to make everything about himself.
(Vs. Blanka) Be they beast, all that lives know I am all.
(Vs. Dhalsim) Close your eyes. In your mind's eye picture me there!
(Vs. F.A.N.G) Now do you see? All poison and all medicine, all life and death... All are me!
(Vs. Kolin) Citizen of Earth, wander no more! For I am here!
  • Large and in Charge: The President of the Earth stands at an impressive 6' 6" (200 cm) tall.
  • Large Ham: The way he talks is like he's giving a presidential speech.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: The beginning of his forward walk animation has him wave to the camera, although this might be justified by G's tendency to record his fights for his FooTube channel. Also, in the Demonstrations section, G's tutorial is the only one that is written in first person.
  • Let's Fight Like Gentlemen: G's fighting style is modeled on old-timey gentlemen's boxing. More directly, he often thanks his opponent for the battle after his wins, particularly in the cases of Ryu and Sagat.
  • Magma Man: A number of his attacks utilize lava as they get more powerful, and his Critical Art causes columns of lava to shoot out in front of him.
  • Master of All: His fighting style is listed as being all martial arts from around the world.
  • Meaningful Name: He manages this in droves with his single letter name.
    • G as in Gold & Globe: Parts of his skin appear gold. These parts of his skin also form a map of the globe, and he's shown standing in front of a globe in the intro. This also has the benefit of being a pun on a famous real-life film and television award show.
    • G as in Gaia: He claims to wield the power of Gaia, AKA the power of the Earth and all of its people. Gold is a natural mineral, and the other element of his power is magma, which flows through the Earth.
    • G as in Government: He calls himself the President of the World, which would theoretically make him the head of a world government.
    • G as in God: The sum of his win quotes would have him boast himself as being omnipresent in absolutely everything, putting himself on par with a capital God.
    • G & Q: As an enormously tall man of mystery with a one-letter name, G evokes Q. Their names combined also form a pun matching the name of a famous men's magazine.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: G has his own "Presidentiality" level next to his V-Gauge. He begins at level one, and by absorbing energy from the Earth, he can increase his level up to three. The higher his Presidentiality, the more effective his attacks become. However, getting knocked to the ground will cause G to go down one Presidentiality level.
  • Mysterious Past: Nobody knows who he is, where he came from, or how he got his powers. He just suddenly appeared and declared himself the President of the World.
  • Neck Lift: G raises his opponent over his head one-handed before performing a backbreaker on them in his back throw.
  • No Historical Figures Were Harmed: Not only does he look a lot like Abraham Lincoln, but he also gives epic speeches and has wrestling moves (the real Abe Lincoln was a wrestler in his youth). His long beard combined with his declaration of being the President of the World also calls Emperor Norton to mind.
  • Non-Answer: As much as G talks about being President of the Earth and wanting to bring the people of Earth together as one, he never actually gives a clear answer on who he is and what his motivations are.
  • One-Letter Name: Much like Q.
  • One-Steve Limit: G is also the name of one of the low level thugs in Final Fight 3, although there is no connection between them.
  • Optional Boss: He acts as a secret opponent for the V path in Arcade Mode, similarly to Q in 3rd Strike.
  • Order Versus Chaos: Due to the fact that it is widely accepted that Chaos existed long before the Cosmos, also called the Universe, G is one to Seth. This is why Seth appeared in Street Fighter first before G did.
  • Outside-Context Problem: He is not a member of any established faction in the Street Fighter universe, and there is zero explanation for what he is or where he gained his powers. The only leads are his possible links to Q and Gill.
  • Parts Unknown: His actual country of origin isn't specified, which fits with his theme of uniting all countries into one, but his bio at the official Japanese site avoids the typically boring "unknown" listing against his nationality and uses the characters for "The Earth" — 地球 — in reference to his own global view. The flag shown above is therefore the flag of Earth, as opposed to any specific nation. It’s possible he chose his Abraham Lincoln-esque, Southern gentleman aesthetic as being the most "publicly recognizable" stereotype of a president, especially if he is not a human at all but something else masquerading as one while having only a glancing understanding of human history and culture.
  • Physical God: He’s described as a Cosmic Entity whose powers we can't fully comprehend, and his magma powers, as well as his gold tattoos matching up with the continents, suggests he's a spirit of the Earth itself, along with its president.
  • Power Glows: When powered up by his V-Trigger I, his tattoos turn black while the rest of his skin becomes gold.
  • Practical Taunt: G's taunt moves him forward slightly, which can actually be handy in catching the opponent off-guard. There's also his special move Message to the People, where he stops in the middle of a fight to give a speech, which fills his EX gauge the longer it goes on. His V-Skill II also acts as one, allowing him to keep his Presidentiality level after one knockdown, and buffs his defense up to three levels like Q.
  • President Evil: He intends on reuniting the nations of the world into becoming Pangaea with him as President, and with his big top hat, beard and suit, he resembles an evil Abraham Lincoln or Uncle Sam. However, at this point he seems to be more Ambiguously Evil than anything.
  • Public Secret Message: Leading up to his reveal, Capcom handed out pieces of a manifesto to certain players and each one posted their piece on Twitter. Eventually, they could be pieced together and the full thing could be read. The first letter of each sentence of his manifesto leading up to his reveal spell out T O P 1 + 7 A T E V O. Top 8 at EVO.
To the people of Earth who yearn for unification
Only you have discovered the knowledge I have bestowed upon you
Presented with this knowledge, you will now understand my purpose
One voice plus the seven continents to carry mankind
All that divides us, I will Smash Over and Under to Burst
The Impact of my dream will charge us with the power of Earth
Every charge you build will strengthen my voice
Victory will be achieved once we become Pangaea once again
One world where I will be President
  • Rousing Speech: G has a special taunt in which he can give one of three speeches. Doing so will raise his EX gauge, but leaves him vulnerable to being attacked.
  • Rule of Symbolism:
    • His shtick is being the president of Earth, so he is associated with gold (a natural mineral) and magma (which flows through The Earth).
    • He's a man who claims to be the President of the Earth and his playstyle revolves around raising his Presidentiality to level 3 and maintaining it throughout the fight, much like how a real-life presidential campaign requires momentum to keep it going.
  • Seemingly Profound Fool: One of the questions that is raised about him is whether he's just some foolish man with delusions of grandeur who has been blessed with some strange powers, or if there really is something to his plan for global unification.
  • Shoryuken: G Explosion, a move exclusive to his V-Trigger II, has him perform a flaming uppercut.
  • Signature Headgear: Wears a very tall top hat for his default, a fedora for his Story costume, and a newsboy cap in his Battle costume. Every other costume has some kind of hat for him as well.
  • Sleeves Are for Wimps: He has his sleeves rolled all the way up in his default costume. This is even mentioned in his Image Song.
  • Southern Gentleman: G has a noticeable Southern-American drawl, and always speaks to his opponents with the utmost respect.
  • The Spook: Absolutely nothing is known about G beyond what the audience and the in-game characters are given at face value. Namely, that he's a guy claiming to be "President of the World" that uploads videos of himself partaking in fights against skilled warriors. Not even Shadaloo or Gill's Secret Society have any real information on him.
  • "Staying Alive" Dance Pose: G poses this way after using his projectile attack, G Burst, while in Presidentiality Level 3. He also does this pose at the end of his Idle Animation, which causes a burst of energy to release from his finger that does a ton of damage to anyone standing too close.
  • Stone Wall: G's V-Skill II is essentially a less powerful version of Q's defense buffing taunt. It can be stacked up to three times, and decreases the amount of damage G takes, and allows him to keep his Presidentiality level if he's knocked down. However, unlike Q's taunt, which lasts the whole round, G loses his buff if he gets knocked down, so he'll have to keep using the V-Skill to keep his defense up.
  • Stroke the Beard: His idle stand on the character select screen has him do this.
  • Super Mode:
    • His V-Trigger I, Maximum President, turns his entire body gold while increasing his Presidentiality to its max level. It also lets him turn his barrier into a projectile and lets him cancel his special moves into one another.
    • His V-Trigger II, Dangerous President, ignites his fists aflame and grants him access to two new special moves: G Rage, a command grab, and G Explosion, a flaming uppercut.
  • Super-Speed Reading: One of his listed special skills.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: A cross between Q and Gill. From Q he gets many of his moves and animations as well as his story outfit. From Gill he gets the Messiah complex, flowery speech pattern, hammy speeches and fighting with two elements.
  • Sweeping Laser Explosion: G's Critical Art, Pangaea Burst, has him charging his hands with lava and then firing a small laser from his finger that causes geysers of magma to erupt.
  • Symbol Motif Clothing: The continents are incorporated into his design. His default costume obviously has the tattoos, but each of the buttons on his coat also has an image of a continent on it. His necktie in his Story costume also has an image of the American continents.
  • Take Over the World: He wants to unite every nation in the world into one and declare himself President.
  • Tarot Motifs: G represents The Fool in the 30th Anniversary Tarot Deck. The Fool is a symbol of the Wild Card, mystery, and infinite possibilities. G is a mysterious man with a goal that will surely put him in strange encounters with the rest of the cast. This card is actually shown in-game when Menat looks at him through her crystal ball. She takes it to mean that he's stupid, but after he beats her in a fight, she's unsure of what to think.
  • Theme Naming: All of his moves either begin with the letter G for Gaia or contain the word president.
  • Uncle Sam Wants You: He does this pose in the Arcade Edition intro, his Critical Art and his win pose. The fact that he has a top hat and beard helps to seal the image.
  • Underestimating Badassery: While G is a potential candidate for being one of the series' most powerful fighters, most of the cast see him as an utter goofball and are often left perplexed after fighting him.
Guile: I have no time for this nonsense, "Mr. President".
Ryu: I'm not sure how I should feel about this victory...
Urien: You lead the world? Tell me another one, clown!
  • Use Your Head: His V-Reversal, G Revenge, has him take a bow, striking the opponent with a headbutt.
  • Walking the Earth: G is shown in his Arcade Mode ending to be travelling the world and winning people over with his speeches and Street Fighting skills. He meets Dan in Japan, Hakan in Turkey, and Elena in Kenya.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: He has ambitions of ruling the world, but he seems to want the best for humanity, and promises to be a loving father to the people of Earth.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: His Destroy President throw has him hoist his opponent over his head and perform a backbreaker on his knee. His exclusive V-Trigger II move G Rage has him grab his opponent and powerslam them into the ground.
  • You All Share My Story: G is insistent that everyone and everything on Earth is connected directly to him, with "We are one" being a slogan of his.

Characters debuting in Street Fighter V: Season 4

    Kage
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kage_alt_pic.png
Your heartbeat... I will stop it!

Origin: Japan
Fighting style: Unknown (martial arts rooted in Ansatsuken)
Appears in: SFV (DLC)
Voiced by: note

Fully named Kagenaru Mono ("The Shadowy One"). When Ryu attained the Mu no Ken during his battle with Necalli, he was able to fully purge the Satsui no Hado within himself. However, that energy had become powerful enough to sustain its own existence outside of Ryu's body, and took on a life of its own, manifesting in the real world as a Living Shadow. Essentially, he is Evil Ryu given physical form. He claims to be the embodiment of the Satsui no Hado itself, existing only to kill all who would oppose him. Angry with Ryu suppressing and finally rejecting him, he now sets his sights on defeating Ryu's greatest rivals - Sagat and Akuma, wanting to prove to Ryu that he is nothing without the Satsui no Hado as a part of him.

Kage is a relatively balanced fighter with a focus on power and tight execution for explosive combos. As Evil Ryu's physical incarnation, Kage's fighting style takes inspiration from his former self, but with some interesting twists. In a bit of a cruel subversion, many of Kage's attacks are rather pitiful, being instead based on those of Joke Character Dan Hibikinote . His attempt at a fireball is basically a Gadoken in all but name, his Shoryuken resembles the old Koryuken, and his normal attacks are all lifted straight from Dan's appearance in IV, being flawed, incomplete versions of the traditional Shoto normals. However, he retains Evil Ryu's Ryusokyaku axe kick and has the ability to shoot aerial fireballs, but in a horizontal motion rather than at the angles that Akuma can shoot them at. His replacement for the Tatsumaki Senpukyaku, the Kuenjin, is a singular spinning kick that launches on hit and allows him to combo afterward. His V-Skills are both rather basic attacks that get enhanced during his first V-Trigger, which grants him access to a special version of Akuma's teleport that he can use in the air and is able to cancel attacks from. His V-Trigger 2 grants him access to the dreaded Misogi chop as well as the Raging Demon.

For Evil Ryu, check Ryu's entry at the Street Fighter page.

  • Air-Dashing: Like Akuma, he can use "Ashura Senku" to move around in the air and approach opponents from above.
  • Alternate Company Equivalent: Thanks to his story in V, Kage has essentially become Capcom's version of Omen from the 2013 Killer Instinct game.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: Kage's Battle Outfit dresses him like an oni from folklore, including blue skin for the default color, and the other color options change his skin tone to other bright colors.
  • Ambiguous Situation: Whether Kage is truly physically real or entirely a figment of his opponent's imagination fueled by the Satsui no Hadou is left up in the air. He defeats Akuma and Sagat and could easily kill them, but when they do not acknowledge him, he simply fades away. Spiritually enlightened or divine characters such as Necalli and Gill note Kage has no soul and isn't real.
  • Attack! Attack! Attack!: Compared to other shotos, his defensive game is quite poor, but his offensive game is defined by insane pressure, the ability to glue himself to an opponent, and ridiculously flashy and showy combos that rip through lifebars like a plasma cutter through butter.
  • Ax-Crazy: Easily the most brutal and bloodthirsty character in the series by far, even surpassing maniacs like Vega, Juri, Necalli and even A.K.I.. Kage utilizes the purest, most primal form of the Satsui no Hado and implements it into Ansatsuken to create a fighting style that is no longer about winning at all costs and killing the opponent efficiently, but inflicting as much pain and suffering on them as possible while doing so. Kage is less like a martial artist and more like a wild animal that just broke loose from its cage. Best demonstrated in his Raging Demon where he begins by efficiently striking his opponent's vitals like Akuma, but after four hits, he completely loses it and just savagely claws his opponent to death as he lets out an incoherent, inhuman roar.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: Of the Satsui No Hadou within Ryu.
  • Back from the Dead: After Ryu purged the Satsui no Hado from his body, effectively killing Evil Ryu, it took on a life of its own as Kage.
  • Badass in a Nice Suit: His CPT 2019 costume puts him in a tuxedo.
  • Battle Aura: Like Evil Ryu and Oni in IV: Arcade Edition, Kage has small crimson flames wisping off his back to signify the essence of the Satsui no Hado within him.
  • Big "WHAT?!": When crush-countered, he screams this.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: Than any other character in the series, even Oni. Kage's supers seem to physically tear the opponent open and spill blood. In his Raging Demon he attempts to literally claw his opponent into pieces, and the way his Metsu Shoryuken is framed gives the impression that he ended up decapitating his opponent.
  • Blood Knight: The essence of Ryu’s unyielding desire to grow through battle, sans his honor and humanity, given form in the living world.
  • Critical Existence Failure: He fades into nothingness at the end of his Character Story, after Ryu remains unafraid of Kage's power and chooses to see Kage as a separate being instead of as a part of him that he threw away.
  • Death by Irony: His entire motivation is to get revenge on Ryu by making him admit that he is nothing without the Satsui no Hado as a part of him. Ryu refuses to accept that Kage is a part of him, and instead treats him as a completely separate entity. Despite winning the battle, Kage loses the war and has a meltdown that causes him to fade away into nothingness.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype: Of Evil Ryu as a Superpowered Evil Side and Enemy Within to Ryu. The Satsui no Hado within Ryu attempted to corrupt his mindset and act through him as a means to achieve victory at any cost, trying to make him believe that the answer he seeks is to fight opponents to the death and crave destruction. However it still retained its host's nature of seeking to fight stronger opponents, instead making him veer more towards Akuma's route. When Ryu finally purged himself of the Satsui no Hado and obtained the Mu no Ken instead, it became a separate entity named Kage. But without Ryu's desire to fight stronger opponents and improve himself, Kage completely loses any connection he may have had to his former host, and becomes his polar opposite in every way. Kage is a savage, bloodthirsty beast whose only motivation is to kill and destroy everything to prove that death is the answer that lies in the heart of battle, that he is already the strongest due to being the embodiment of the Satsui no Hado and that people should fear him for it. In other words, without Ryu to humanize him, Kage is a Generic Doomsday Villain, exactly like Necalli. And it is precisely because he has no character, no soul, that no one else acknowledges him and he ends up going insane and destroying himself.
  • Divergent Character Evolution: While to a lesser extent than Evil Ryu in IV, Kage looks much more monstrous, with ogre-like horns and fangs, and wears Ryu's headband like a scarf.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": He's a Living Shadow whose name means "Shadow". In the Japanese version, however, he is given the full moniker "Kagenaru Mono", which means "The Shadowy One", which has slightly more subtlety.
  • Enemy Without: He's the personification of the Satsui no Hado within Ryu, which has given itself a body and name and exists outside of Ryu. Two of Kage's Arcade Mode endings — which show Ryu transforming into Evil Ryu in II and Evil Ryu's IV ending — further cement that he's Evil Ryu having manifested a body of his own.
  • Evil Laugh: Unlike his past existence as Evil Ryu, Kage is more fond of doing this. Hell, it's the very first thing he does when you select him.
    BWA HA HA HA HA!
  • Evil Versus Evil: If his Arcade Mode ending is canon, he fights Oni in order to discover the true meaning of power over death.
  • Fangs Are Evil: Has a pair of small tusk-like fangs similar to Oni's.
  • Glass Cannon: Terrifying damage, offensive pressure, and mixups, but with 900 health, he goes down fast, and with lacking footsies compared to the other shotos, he has to get in someone's face and stay there to really do well.
  • Gory Discretion Shot: Invoked. Both of his Critical Arts turn the screen red with black silhouettes, along with black splatter and smear effects that make it look like he's either decapitating his opponent or so savagely beating them that their blood is splattering everywhere. They're shown intact once the effect fades, but still leaves a very gory implication regardless.
  • Hades Shaded: His body is created from the dark energy of the Satsui no Hado, and he's noticeably more tanned than Ryu.
  • High-Class Glass: His CPT 2019 costume gives him a monocle.
  • Horns of Villainy: He's Evil Ryu manifest; fittingly, he has glowing purple horns.
  • Humanoid Abomination: He's Evil Ryu given physical form, but said form isn't remotely human by any stretch of the imagination. He's made out of pure darkness and manifests himself as a shadow, allowing him to phase in and out of reality like a ghost.
  • I'm Not Afraid of You: Kage wants Ryu, Sagat and Akuma to fear him and acknowledge him as the most powerful fighter, and that without him, Ryu is nothing but an empty shell. He doesn't get his way, with Sagat and Akuma both unafraid of him and calling him a mere shadow of Ryu. Ryu's lack of fear causes Kage to go through a Critical Existence Failure.
  • Ironic Echo: Kage's pre-battle quote against Ryu is "The answer lies... in DESTROYING EVERYTHING!"
  • Living Shadow: His name literally means "Shadow", and in his character story, he makes his entrance several times in the form of a shadow. This piece of concept art shows he was originally going to have a more shadowy, wraith-like appearance.
  • Martial Arts Headband: Wears a red headband like Ryu, except it's fallen around his neck, making it look like a scarf.
  • Meaningful Name: He's a Living Shadow whose name means 'Shadow'.
  • Obviously Evil: He's Ryu's Enemy Without, and it shows. Hades Shaded, glowing horns and fangs, and red eyes with black sclerae. As if to hammer the point home, he is one of the few characters who has a positive winquote against M. Bison, encouraging the dictator to continue his evil ways.
Yes, seek power, fear, death! BWA HA HA!
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: He delivers one to Akuma, mocking him for fearing the Oni he would become if he fully gave in the Satsui no Hado. Akuma, however, disregards him.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: It might look like a scarf, but it's actually Ryu's trademark red headband that has fallen around his neck.
  • Screaming Warrior: Kage screams the name of every attack at the top of his lungs. During his Raging Demon, he completely loses it and just roars like a rabid beast.
  • Shirtless Scene: He's shirtless by default.
  • Shotoclone: Unlike Evil Ryu, Kage has some significant differences, even though he uses the same style at the end of the day.
    • His Hadoken is done one-handed (like Gouken or Oni) but doesn't travel at all, which means it's more of a Gadoken. He uses two hands to perform the Shakunetsu Hadoken, however, and that one travels at full screen (though it must be charged briefly first, akin to Akuma's). He also throws his airborne Hadokens horizontally instead of Akuma’s diagonal Zanku Hadoken.
    • His Shoryuken is done front-handed (which, incidentally, is like how Dan performs the Koryuken in IV). He switches hands during the EX version, the Messatsu Gou Shoryu, similar to Akuma's EX Gou Shoryuken (but with the hands flipped, so lead with the front and then follow up with the reverse).
    • He lacks a Tatsumaki and instead has the "Kurekijin"; a leaping kick where he swings his back leg around once.
    • He has Evil Ryu's "Ryusokyaku" (aka "Axe Kick") from his IV appearances.
    • He does use some of the "lethal" Ansatsuken techniques such as the Ashura Senkuu and Misogi (both available only when he is in V-Trigger I or II, respectively; he can also do the Ashura Senkuu airborne) and his Critical Arts are the Metsu Shoryuken (Ryu's old Ultra Combo II from Super IV) and the Shun Goku Satsu/Raging Demon (V-Trigger II-exclusive).
  • Slasher Smile: Whenever his expression isn't a Death Glare, it's this. It also helps serve as a stark contrast to when he was a part of Ryu. Despite his more violent tendencies, Evil Ryu still had some of Ryu's stoicism. When separated from Ryu, Kage is a savage, bloodthirsty psychopath who delights in the agony and suffering of his prey.
  • Talking the Monster to Death: At the end of his Character Story, Ryu's words seem to cause Kage to fade from existence entirely.
  • Uncertain Doom: Even after Ryu overcomes the Satsui no Hadou in the events of A Shadow Falls, the intro to Arcade Edition shows Ryu still struggling to suppress it. Then it's shown that the Satsui no Hadou has actually manifested itself as its own being called Kage. However, Kage's own story mode ends with Ryu Talking the Monster to Death, with Kage seeming to fade from existence as quickly as he appeared. This seems to put an end to him, but this isn't the first time Ryu's Satsui no Hadou issues have been dealt with, so it's unclear if he'll come back again.
  • Villainous Breakdown: When Ryu refuses to fight him and accept that he shouldn't have cast him aside, he gets pissed. When Ryu decides to treat him as a separate being entirely, he completely loses what little composure he has and fades away screaming, unable to comprehend his own existence anymore.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He is introduced and (possibly) killed off within his own Character Story.
  • Wild Hair: Evil Ryu's long-haired outfit returns as Kage's Story costume in V.
  • World's Strongest Man: Deconstructed. He defeats Sagat and Akuma with relative ease and, if his V arcade ending is to go by, can go toe-to-toe with Oni. However, for all his power, he only craves acknowledgment and fear that his opponents don't ever give him. This drives him mad.

    Lucia

Capcom Fighters Network

Do the crime, you do the time.

Origin: USA
Fighting style: Police Training
Appears in: SFV (DLC)
Voiced by:note

Full name Lucia Morgan. Crossing over into the world of Street Fighter from Final Fight 3, Lucia is an officer of Metro City's Special Criminal Investigation Unit. With the reputation of her department restored after Mike Haggar cleaned up the corruption of the Mad Gear gang, she later succeeded in dismantling the Skull Cross gang along with Haggar, Guy, and a fighter named Dean who had a personal vendetta against the gang for killing his family. By the time of V, Lucia remains as dedicated as ever to upholding the law in Metro City. She has received orders from Haggar himself to investigate those involved with Mad Gear, and report her findings to Cody, who became Haggar's successor as Mayor of Metro City.

  • Accent Adaptation: Her Japanese voice actress uses a Kansai accent as a stand-in for her Puerto Rican accent.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Lucia is a lot more upbeat and enthusiastic in V compared to Final Fight 3.
  • Americans Are Cowboys: Her swimsuit costume is a skimpy cowgirl-themed outfit.
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: According to her profile, Lucia has a tendency to slack off at times. That said, she is not someone to be crossed while on duty, since she's a very talented fighter.
  • Brooklyn Rage: Very aggressive when enforcing the law and sports a strong Nuyoricannote  accent.
  • The Bus Came Back: Prior to her reappearance in V, Lucia had fallen off the radar since her debut in Final Fight 3 in 1995, save for the rare background cameo in spin-off media.
  • Commonality Connection: With Chun-Li, over them both being law enforcement.
Lucia: It's always nice to meet a fellow protector of the peace.
  • Cool Shades: Her default has her wearing a pair above the brim of her hat, while her Battle Outfit has her actually wear them over her eyes.
  • Fair Cop: In stark contrast to the other police officers seen in her home series such as Edi E.
  • Fragile Speedster: She retains her high mobility from Final Fight 3 as one of the fastest fighters in the game.
  • Glass Cannon: Lucia is very fast, has long range, and incorporates powerful mixups into her moveset. The catch? She has the lowest health in the game along with the likes of Cammy and Kage.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: She tells Cody that if he gets careless, things can get al garete (messy or disastrous)note  real quick.
  • Hurricane Kick: Her moveset incorporates several of these, more than her original incarnation.
  • Kick Chick: Lucia's style focuses heavily on kicks, and because of this she has some of the longest-reaching attacks in the game.
  • Lawman Baton: Her signature weapon, which she pulls out during her 2nd V-Trigger.
  • Lethal Chef: Hinted at in the manual for Final Fight 3 and her bio in that game's Attract Mode. Her hobby is cooking, but her bio admits she's not a very good one. Her favorite food is listed as Instant Noodles. As of her V profile, she dislikes cooking now, but she still likes that ramen. Her V arcade ending suggests that the reason is her inability to follow recipes (as opposed to rules, as the game points out).
  • Ms. Fanservice: Lucia is incredibly muscular and buxom, and several of her outfits feature Cleavage Windows and put heavy emphasis on her legs and abs.
  • Playing with Fire: Her staple element. Her 1st V-Trigger enhances almost all of her moves with fire effects.
  • Race Lift: Somewhat. In Final Fight 3, it’s heavily implied she is a white American girl, with the surname "Morgan" suggesting she has Welsh ancestry, but in SFV it's heavily implied she has Puerto Rican ancestry.
  • Retcon: Her story in V mentions her battling the Mad Gear Gang. However, in Final Fight 3, her only appearance prior to V, she didn't fight the Mad Gear Gang, but the Skull Cross Gang, who attempted to take over Metro City after the fall of Mad Gear. She also mentions battling them alongside her old friend Cody, even though she and Cody never had any interaction with each other in the Final Fight series, with Cody only appearing in the first game and Lucia only being in the third game.
  • Ship Tease: Menat's win quote against Lucia seems to imply that she and Dean from Final Fight 3 are going to end up together, or possibly Cody, what with the apparent retcons to her backstory turning her and Cody into old friends.
Menat: I can see into your future... there's a meeting... with an old friend... and possibly... love?
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Lucia's play-style bears a number of similarities to El Fuerte from IV: both characters' move-sets are built around a special move which involves running forward at high speed which allows them to access additional moves. Both characters also happen to be Lethal Chefs and utilize wrestling moves.
  • Suplex Finisher: One of her throws.
  • Youthful Freckles: She has some freckles around her nose and the spunky attitude to match.

Characters debuting in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition / Season V

    Akira
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/akira_alt_pic_7.png
(When not wearing her brother's old biker outfit) If I go too far... Please forgive me!
(When wearing her brother's old biker outfit) Get out of my way... or get hurt!

Origin: Japan
Fighting style: Hakkyokuken / Bajiquan
Appears in: SFV (DLC)
Voiced by: note

Full name Akira Kazama. A Japanese student who attends Seijyun Girls High School and first appeared in Rival Schools. While her exterior projects an image of coarse toughness as a biker, getting to know her reveals she is actually a rather withdrawn and quiet, yet kind-hearted person. While the main story of Street Fighter ran its course, a series of mysterious occurrences surrounding several Japanese high schools took place. Akira initially set out on her own, donning her brother Daigo's old motorcycle outfit and disguised herself as a man in order to uncover the truth behind his disappearance by enrolling in Gedo High, an all-male school of delinquents. With the help of Daigo's fellow gang members Eiji "Edge" Yamada and Gan Isurugi, Akira found and rescued her brother, who had been kidnapped and brainwashed by a prodigy from Justice High named Hyo Imawano, a member of a ninja clan that sought world domination. However, not even a year had passed when another member of Hyo's clan, Kurow Kirishima, decided to continue what Hyo started and brainwashed Daigo again. Akira fought once more to save her brother, this time with the aid of her Seijyun High classmates Aoi "Zaki" Himezaki and Yurika Kirishima, the latter of whom was Kurow's kind-hearted sister. Some time after these events, she receives an invitation from her old friend Sakura Kasugano for a reunion party at the Kanzuki mansion.

  • Apologetic Attacker: Just like in her home series. She even does this as soon as her battle intro, as seen at the top of her profile here.
  • Assist Character: One of her V-Triggers involves her summoning her brother Daigo for a Dynamic Entry-esque Goomba Stomp.
  • Badass Adorable: An adorable, kind-hearted young lady with a bit of a shy demeanor outside of battle, but skilled in fighting nonetheless.
  • Badass Back: When she summons him, Daigo uses a combination of his Earth Stab and True Massive Back techniques from the Rival Schools games. After stunning an opponent with nothing but his fist, he turns his back to them and summons a geyser of pure energy to engulf him, sending the opponent flying.
  • Badass Biker: Motorcycles are one of her primary interests, but despite the hellish appearance of her motorcycle gear (her helmet is adorned with a skull and the shoulder pads of her jacket are studded with spikes and the same skull design as her helmet), she's actually not that intimidating as a person. In fact, she's quite kind-hearted and is something of a Shrinking Violet at worst. In any case, her Battle Intro animation has her arriving on her bike and disembarking.
  • Beach Episode: Her story mode ends on this where she, Sakura, Ibuki, and Karin travel to Kanzuki Beach for a beach party hosted by Karin.
  • Big Brother Worship: To say that she looks up to her big brother Daigo immensely might even be an understatement...
(Vs. Akira) A-Agh! Imposters! My brother's a lot cooler-looking than that!
(Vs. Akuma) Your scary face's got nothing on my brother's when he's mad!
(Vs. G) You're the President of the World? Never heard of that. My brother's a better leader than you!
(Vs. Sagat) Looks like you need more training. I'll let my brother know you're going to need his help.
(Vs. Laura) Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu? Sorry, but my jam's the legendary Daigo Kazama Style!
  • Big Brother Instinct: According to Dan's description of Akira's Summer outfit, Daigo is rather quick to beat up any boy that shows off even the slightest interest in his little sister. Going by the aforementioned description, Dan himself can apparently testify to this. Heck, one of her V-Triggers weaponizes this, making Daigo dive in to help, and he helps out in her Critical Art.
  • Canon Welding: Despite Sakura being in both games, Capcom originally confirmed the events of Rival Schools to take place an Alternate Continuity. Here, however, Akira's story mode firmly plants Rival Schools into the ever growing and modular extended universe of Street Fighter.
  • Characterization Marches On: Prior to V, she was noted to have severe aquaphobia. Come V and she's swimming alongside Sakura and the other beach party attendants like she never feared swimming in the first place. Sakura questions this as she was aware of her fear, to which Akira simply replies that someone taught her how to swim properly during the interim between Project Justice and V.
  • Clothing Reflects Personality: Just like in her home series, Akira acts as if she may as well be two completely different people depending on whether or not she's wearing her brother's biker outfit. When not wearing it, she's about as sweet and shy as can be. But when wearing it? It's almost jarring how aggressive she becomes. Go ahead and compare her Battle Intro quotes above to get an idea of the difference in her personality.
  • Costume Inertia: Daigo Kazama was known as Gedo High's banchou, the strongest banchou around the district, his fame as a the ultimate banchou pretty much relegated him to be always be seen wearing his classic uniform no matter what Akira herself is wearing, the guy either has become a serial repeater or he just doesn't care and continues to wear his uniform well after graduating.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: One of her costumes is her classic Biker Outfit, which looks outright intimidating. She's still a Nice Girl underneath, either way. This actually ends up coming into play during her Character story where Ibuki attacks her under the pretense of thinking that Akira was a brutish biker who arrived at the Kanzuki residence to stir up trouble.
  • Dude Magnet: According to Dan Hibiki, Akira's Summer costume has apparently turned some heads, much to her big brother's chagrin.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: How Akira and Sakura came to know each other prior to V. During the events of Rival Schools, Sakura had trained Akira a bit upon the latter's request.
  • Gameplay and Story Segregation:
    • Despite the implications that Daigo is always in the background to assist, Akira is still the subject of victory screens where the winner brutalizes the loser. Particularly egregious is with Necalli, a villainous character who plans to kill her horribly.
    • A minor example in her story mode is when she fights Sakura in a flashback set during the first Rival Schools game. Akira wants Sakura to train her in her quest to find her missing brother...and yet Daigo still appears to assist her during her 1st V-Trigger and Critical Art.
  • Gender-Blender Name: "Akira" can be both masculine and feminine, as exempliefied by fellow Bajiquan practitioner Akira Yuki. It goes a long way considering she is meant to be posing as a boy when wearing the helmet.
  • Guest Fighter: After Sakura paid a visit to Rival Schools, Akira returns the favor in V: Champion Edition (although, as a Shared Universe, her appearance here is more akin to the Final Fight characters who crossed over from that series).
  • Home Stage: Akira is accompanied by her own Rival School-esque stage, which is set on an Artificial Riverbank in Japan at sunset and features her Gedo High School cronies, Edge and Gan, cheering her on.
  • Idiot Hair: Has a noticeable cowlick, but doesn't display the typical character traits associated with it.
  • Late-Arrival Spoiler: After Rival Schools: United By Fate, most media featuring Akira doesn't even really try to hide the fact that she's a girl from the start and apparently V is no different, barring Akira's first meeting with Ibuki (who initially thought Akira was a boy) in the former's Character Story.
  • Launcher Move: Her second V-Skill, "Tsutenda", launches her opponent into the air, while she jumps after them to execute an aerial combo. This hearkens back to Rival Schools and Project Justice, where such abilities were standard among the cast.
  • Male Might, Female Finesse: She's the Female Finesse to the Male Might of her brother Daigo, whom she can summon with one of her V-Triggers. She's a Bare-Fisted Monk who beats down foes with skillful Hakkyokuken/Bajiquan, Daigo just outright stomps onto the enemy and explodes with Muscle Power.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: She brings the Aerial Raves from Rival Schools into this very ground-based fighter.
  • Meido: Her Nostalgia alternate costume has her wearing her maid outfit from Nekketsu Seisyun Nikki 2 (the Updated Re-release of Rival Schools: United By Fate that was only released in Japan).
  • Nice Girl: Despite what her intimidating appearance (and to some extent, her personality) when wearing her brother's biker outfit may have you believe, she's actually a very sweet young lady, if not rather shy.
  • Samus Is a Girl: Much to Ibuki's surprise.
  • School Uniforms are the New Black: While Akira's story makes it clear Sakura's appearance in her home series was years ago, thus meaning Akira right now likely has already graduated, Daigo on the other hand remains with his classic uniform, as the eternal banchou, he either has been repeating years for a long time or he has taken his banchou role for life even as a graduate.
  • Shrinking Violet: When she's not wearing her brother's old biker outfit, she's more or less a downplayed take on this trope.
  • Sweet Polly Oliver: One of her alternate costumes consists of her wearing her big brother's old biker outfit which she used to disguise herself as a boy during the events of Rival Schools: United By Fate due to her brother's school being an all-male high school. In V, Ibuki initially thinks Akira is a boy due to said biker outfit's rather intimidating appearance, at least until Sakura cleared up the confusion. It doesn't exactly help that "Akira" can be both a male and a female name in Japanese...
  • Shout-Out: There's plenty of Rival Schools lore-based references in Akira's story:
    • Akira’s text box during her story mode is unique, being that of Nekketsu Seisyun Nikki 2 exclusive stories.
    • When Akira removes her helmet to reveal her gender, Ibuki has the same reaction as Edge and Gan from Akira's ending in the first Rival Schools game.
    • Akira and Sakura's duel referenced to how Sakura was a playable Guest Fighter in the first game.
  • Sweet Tooth: Carrying over from her home series, Akira is noted to have quite the adoration for sweets, as seen in her character story where she gets rather excited at the prospect being allowed to eat from Karin's buffet spread, which consisted of many baked goods.
  • Tough Spikes and Studs: Akira wears a biker jacket with spiked shoulder pads wrapped around her waist.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Carrying over from her home series, she really loves her baked goods, chocolate cake and cheesecake in particular.

    Eleven
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eleven_alt_pic.png
Eleven's duplication capabilities have been successfully implemented. It is with this ability the strongest warriors could be mass manufactured.

Origin: Illuminati
Appears in: SFV (DLC)
One of the results of the Illuminati's G-Project, and the precursor to Twelve. It is fought by Urien in his story mode, who deems Eleven a failure after he defeats it. It is included as a bonus 6th "character" for those who purchase Season V. While it has a unique character model, Eleven does not actually fight in its main form. Instead, it shapeshifts into a random character and has a randomly selected V-Skill and V-Trigger, making Eleven the first "mimic character" to ever appear in Street Fighter.

  • Black Eyes of Evil: Has pure black eyes, and is allied with Gill's Secret Society. This trait stays even when transformed into other characters.
  • Competitive Balance: In official Capcom sanctioned tournaments, a winner using Eleven must switch to the character he took the form of if the loser decides to change their character; Eleven does not change characters upon selecting rematch, only on the character select screen. This is to remove the unfair element of a loser being unable to properly counterpick, as the winner in a fighting game tournament must stick with who they won with until they win the set, reset the bracket, or lose a match.note
  • Ditto Fighter: Mokujinner type, and the first of its kind in a Street Fighter game. As opposed to its successor Twelve, who is a Dittomediate. When chosen, Eleven will transform into a random character, with a randomly-selected V-Skill and V-Trigger.
  • Doomed by Canon: V takes place before III, and by the time of Third Strike, Eleven has been made obsolete by the creation of Twelve.
  • Flat Character: Unlike Twelve, Eleven doesn't have a unique moveset, and is also the only fighter to not have their own character story, and isn't even playable in Arcade Mode, so it exists less as a character and more as a gameplay mechanic.
  • Flawed Prototype: It lacks its own moveset, unlike Twelve, and its transformation into other fighters remains for the duration of the match. Although, since its transformation is automatic and not the result of using meter, it can copy opponents' Critical Arts.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Eleven is the random select function... with style, and usable in Ranked and Casual matches which do not allow players to set their preferred character to random for some reason.
  • Plant Person: It was apparently created out of reformed plant matter, rather than animal matter.
  • The Voiceless: It doesn't speak at all if it isn't transformed into somebody else.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Its primary ability, which became the basis for Twelve's X.C.O.P.Y. ability.
  • You Are Number 6: Eleven, actually. It's the eleventh result of the G-Project, and it's replaced by Twelve shortly after.

Street Fighter V

When you go looking for strength, it's not like a game. This journey doesn't have a real ending.

Origin: USA
Appears in: SFV (DLC), SF6
Voiced by: note

Full name Luke Sullivan. The fifth and final new character introduced in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, and the final DLC character for V as a whole. A mixed martial arts fighter who is aspiring to become as strong as his father. During his childhood, a mysterious incident occurred involving his father Robert, wherein he saved Luke and a crowded mall from an I.E.D. planted by terrorists at the cost of his own life. Inspired by the sacrifice, he joins the military and serves under Guile's unit seeking strength, but comes to believe that his path may lie elsewhere. As of 6, his experience as a PMC eventually led to him becoming an MMA instructor.

Luke plays as an aggressive all-rounder, able to pummel his opponent up close or zone them out from afar with his "Sandblaster" projectile. His attacks generally grant him a lot of forward momentum, including normal attack that advance him toward the opponent and a variety of gap-closing specials like Flash Knuckle and Avenger. And while not specialized in defensive play, he can still get by with his aforementioned projectile and Rising Uppercut for defending against aerial approaches. Serving as a gateway between V and 6, V grants him a recharging V-Trigger gauge as a nod to the future Drive system, building charge by dealing general damage and depleting whenever he takes hits or using enhanced specials. This gives him a huge amount of potential for burst damage thanks to his unique V-Triggers which empower his already strong special moves.

  • Alternate Company Equivalent: To Terry Bogard. Like Terry, Luke is a blond American street brawler with a friendly disposition, a star motif, a love for video games and junk food, and a motivation driven by the death of his father. In 6, Luke even gets his own take on the Power Dunk.
  • The Apprentice: He trained under Guile, and as such his appearance and fighting style bear similarities to his commanding officer, such as having Anime Hair and nods to the Sonic Boom and Flash Kick with his Sand Blaster projectile and the Flash Knuckle, the heavy version of which is an overhead punch that moves in the inverted shape of the Flash Kick. His first V-trigger, Fully Armed, is a flashier, slightly faster, but less versatile version of Guile's Solid Puncher.
  • Art Evolution: While recognisably the same character, his design changes quite drastically between V: Champion Edition and 6, mostly to suit the more realistic art direction of the latter. His haircut is more realistic, his facial structure is different, he has more scars on his face and arms — likely due to the large time skip between the fifth and sixth games — and he has less tattoos over his body, specifically his forearm stars are no more; that’s a design difference not easily explained by passage of time, and it was later explained in a developer column that he had them removed. As noted below, his 6 incarnation was designed first and later modified for his appearance in V.
  • Berserk Button: Jamie Siu; whenever he sees Jamie, the pair will fight. This has been going on since childhood and is mostly played for laughs.
  • Big "NO!": He sometimes yells this out when he is knocked out.
  • Big "WHAT?!": He sometimes yells out "WHAT?" when he is knocked out.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: He sounds like he's having the time of his life in any given fight, and talks quite highly of his capabilities.
Let's do it. I'm always ready for a fight!
    I'll never lose to anyone!
    Here's my special! Booyah!
  • Book Dumb: Luke has a slightly air-headed, dude-bro vibe, as seen in the prequel comics for 6, where he claims that Nigeria is a country in South America, and he's actually shocked when Mel corrects him, but he makes up for his lack of book smarts with raw capability and potential. He also builds home computers in his spare time because a friend got him into it, implying he's very tech-savvy but never hit a home run with his studies.
  • Boots of Toughness: Luke's costume 2 in Street Fighter 6 has him wearing military-style boots.
  • Character Development: According to his English VA, Aleks Le, Luke decided to take on the world after the events of V. In his travels, he lost fights against many opponents. The experience humbled him as he returned to the States to train and improve himself and train a new generation of fighters in his role as a coach for Buckler Security. This growth is also reflected in his voice, which, in 6, is notably deeper and calmer.
  • Character Tics: Luke's signature pose is a Finger Gun style point, usually but not always done with both hands. It's seen in his character art and versus screen intro for 6, his victory pose for both games, and several cutscenes.
  • Charged Attack: His Flash Knuckle can be held down, with its properties changing depending on the button strength held. His V-Skill I, Hard Shot, allows him to perform the charged Flash Knuckle without holding down the button while doing so yields an even stronger version of the attack.
  • Cool Teacher: As the player's coach in World Tour, he's incredibly chummy, complimentary, and spends much of his time preparing you for traveling the world.
  • Costume Evolution: His costume in 6 builds on top of the pretty minimal attire he had in V. Alongside a new bouffant quiff hairdo, he's got a sleeveless hoodie, an athletic shirt, and different colored pants (still no shoes though). He also notably has scars that weren't present in his V design (and were eventually explained in the 6 prequel comic). It's somewhat Inverted in that his 6 design was actually created and finalized before his V design was.
  • Dash Attack: His Fierce Flash Knuckle lets him close the gap between him and the opponent very quickly. If the V-Skill enhanced version is held down, he'll even be at a huge advantage right in the opponent's face if it's blocked. As of 6, he can also perform it in the air, just like how Ryu can perform the Tatsumaki Senpukyaku in the air.
  • Decoy Protagonist: Of 6. Luke serves as the poster boy for the game alongside Jamie, his rival, and even the box art is entirely dedicated to him, making it appear as though he's going to be the hero of the story. His actual role, however, is to be a Mentor Archetype for the player's own custom-made avatar, who is the real protagonist of the World Tour mode. Also, Luke's arcade mode does nothing to advance the overall story. It shows his continuing development as a street fighter ending with a battle with Jamie, his Sitcom Arch-Nemesis, as his Final Boss. If he defeats JP during the arcade mode, Luke refuses to take revenge, despite the fact that Luke has legitimate beef with JP, noting that Ken, the real protagonist of the arcade mode, has much more right to revenge than he does.
  • Didn't See That Coming: In the prequel comic's final issue, he and Ken duke it out thanks to JP's manipulations, with Luke looking to arrest him for alleged terrorism. The only reason Ken initially struggles is because of his own mental turmoil; the moment he realizes Mel is safe and watching the fight, Luke can't even scratch Ken, and he goes down very shortly after, massively humbled and showing he still has a long way to go as a fighter.
  • Difficult, but Awesome: Flash Knuckle's "Just Frame" Bonus, especially in 6. It's not something that'll be easy to pick up on the first try, but once you get used to it, Luke can very quickly rack up damage faster than a pinball racking up a billion points, especially in the corner. Even better, but rather impractical to attempt, time your Perfect Flash Knuckle to an incoming projectile, and you can actually No-Sell it as you smack the opponent square in the face.
  • Dreamworks Face: His default expression most of the time, and the one he pulls for his appearance on the 6 box art.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: What his appearance in V retroactively amounts to, since he was originally meant to debut in 6, and he very much embodies the more grounded "new generation" approach of the latter game, in contrast to the heavily stylized direction of V. This was hinted at when he was first revealed, as the developers claimed that he would play a major role in the future of the series shortly before 6 was officially announced. This also applies to his Leitmotif, "Taking Aim", which he's kept in 6 and stands as the only returning character theme whereas series mainstays like Ryu and Chun-Li receive entirely new themes. Capcom's Takayuki Nakayama confirmed in an interview that he is considered a guest character from 6, with Matt Edwards from Capcom UK also confirming that Luke's design in 6 predates his V variant.
  • Embarrassing Tattoo: It's explained in a developer column that Luke removed the star tattoos he had on his forearms in V out of embarrassment. Originally, each star symbolized a tournament win for Luke, but he later found out that his father had similar stars embroidered on his jacket, but each of those stars symbolized a comrade he couldn't save.
  • Even the Loving Hero Has Hated Ones: Luke is a chilled, happy-go-lucky guy, who's nice to almost everyone unless there's a good reason for him to be angry with them. For example, he always starts a fight with Jamie whenever the two encounter each other due to their long-standing rivalry, and he's outright hostile to villainous characters like JP or Juri.
  • Every Scar Has a Story: The scar over his right eye is a direct result of his fight with Ken in Nayshall during the events of the prequel comic. It's unknown if the other scars on his face are from the same fight (though the similar amount of fading makes it a good bet).
  • Final Boss: To Ryu and Jamie Siu in 6.
  • Foreshadowing: Luke's V-Triggers regaining meter when not in use is a preview of 6’s universal Drive Meter system.
  • The Gadfly: Luke is charming, cheeky, and occasionally impertinent, approaching any situation he finds himself in with an upbeat, satirical vibe, which provides great contrast with the series' more gravely serious heroes (Ryu, Guile, Alex etc). One of his taunts (back plus all buttons) against Ryu features him sarcastically imitating Ryu's classic Hadoken move in the most hilariously disrespectful tone and manner imaginable.
  • Global Ignorance: In a wry nod to the stereotype that Americans suck at geography, in the Days of the Eclipse prequel comic for 6, all-American boy Luke confidently notes that "Nigeria is a country in South America”. Even Mel Masters, around 9-10 years old, knows Nigeria is in Africa.
  • Good Scars, Evil Scars: In 6, he has a large scar running over his right eye. This was courtesy of Ken in the prequel comics, with JP manipulating them to fight each other; it doesn't even take a Shoryuken to inflict the wound, Ken is just that angry and Luke happened to be in his way thinking Ken was a terrorist.
  • Hero Antagonist: He's Ken's final physical opponent in 6's prequel comic, having turned against Ken after being misled by JP into believing Ken was behind the terrorist attack occurring in Nayshall. By the actual events of 6, however, his head's cooled off enough for him to agree that Ken was framed.
  • Heroic Build: Par for the course with almost every heroic-aligned SF character, Luke is totally shredded, with special emphasis placed on his rather exaggerated, Popeye-like forearms.
  • Hidden Depths: If this is any indication, he's really good at singing.
  • Jack of All Stats: His overall stats are in line with Ryu's (average vitality and stun, good range and techniques, mediocre mobility), being very well-balanced while also being more than capable of pumping out as much damage as Guile throws out Sonic Booms in a single match.
  • "Just Frame" Bonus: Flash Knuckle in 6 has a particular instance where, if you hold and release the input at just the right time (think Vergil's Judgment Cut), he'll yell, "PERFECT!", as the move gains altered properties on hit and on block. Not the least which includes more combo potential or extra frame advantage on block.
  • Kamehame Hadoken:
    • "Sand Blaster", which is on the stronger side compared to a regular Hadoken (fast travel speed, range dependant on the button pressed, nullifies other projectiles, etc) and its EX version causes knock down on hit. His V-Trigger I enables "Rock Smasher", which fires three Sand Blasters or if he activates it after an EX Sand Blaster, it becomes "Thermobaric Thrash" which fires five.
    • Thermobaric Thrash becomes a standalone super in 6, now called "Vulcan Blast". Functionally, nothing changed.
  • Last Episode, New Character: Appears in the final season of V as the final character for the game. According to game director Takayuki Nakayama, Luke is "important to the future of Street Fighter" and sure enough, he was shown in the 6 reveal trailer alongside Ryu.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Some of his quotes reveal his knowledge of video game terminology, which he uses appropriately.
(Vs. M. Bison) Hoo yeah! I took out the Final Boss!
(Vs. F.A.N.G) A poison debuff? You like a mid-level boss or something?
(Activating Critical Art) Here's my special!
(Winning a round) Easy mode much?!
  • Like Father, Like Son: Strives to become like his father. His Character Story in V is even subtitled as such, verbatim.
  • Lovable Jock: He's a bit of a meat-headed gym bro a lot of the time (he even spends most of his time in World Tour in a gym), but a very friendly and righteous dude for the most part.
  • Mascot: In a departure from series tradition of having Ryu headline every game, Luke serves as the face of 6, having his face on the game's cover and playing a pivotal role in the new World Tour mode.
  • Mechanically Unusual Fighter: One of the main weaknesses of the V-Trigger system is that it runs on a timer, allowing players to stall out their opponents and cause them to lose valuable comeback potential. Unlike every other character in V, however, Luke is the only one who gains V-Trigger timer when not using any moves that draw from it as a resource, rendering stall strategies ineffective against him. The only way to stop Luke from potentially having an infinite V-Trigger is to land hits on him.
  • Megaton Punch:
    • Flash Knuckle. Regardless of the version held down, if it lands, it will hurt.
    • Eraser (formerly Annihilator) in 6 caps off with a very gratifying one.
  • Mentor Archetype: In 6, Luke acts as the player's tutorial instructor as they start in World Tour, teaching them the basics of fighting.
  • Nice Guy: He's a little on the hot-headed side, but he means well and is pleasant around everyone he meets — except Jamie Siu, or villains such as Juri or JP.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown:
    • His Critical Art, Annihilator (Eraser in 6), where he ruthlessly wails on the opponent before finishing them off with a hook to the jaw.
    • Pale Rider, his Critical Art in 6, is similar, only this time he wails on his opponent while they're on the floor, UFC-style.
  • One-Steve Limit: Shortly after his reveal, game director Taka Nakayama quickly clarified that he is not the same Luke as the concept character for Capcom Fighting All-Stars (who is also known as 'Rook').
  • Pop-Cultured Badass: Luke is an avid gamer with a tendency to use gen-Z lingo, and his dancing victory pose when scoring a perfect in 6 wouldn't be out of place on TikTok.
  • Private Military Contractors: Luke is an employee of Buckler Security, a mercenary outfit, in 6.
  • Pubescent Braces: He wears braces in V and is one of the younger members of the roster. He no longer needs them by 6 as he's older.
  • Pursuing Parental Perils: Played With. He was inspired to join the Special Forces because of his father's Heroic Sacrifice but becomes disillusioned with the army and ultimately decides to part ways and fight on his own terms.
  • Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: Rock Smasher (and Thermobaric Thrasher) fires a series of Sand Blasters in rapid succession, basically being a projectile variant of the trope.
  • The Rival: To Jamie Siu. The two hate each other and will fight whenever they are near each other.
  • Shoryuken: His Rising Rocket (later Rising Upper) is unique in that all strengths of the normal version beats out aerial attacks. He also gains a new follow-up in 6 where he performs a slam dunk at the apex of the jump, much like Sean's Dragon Smash in New Generation and Second Impact.
  • Shotoclone: He has a projectile to zone with (Sand Blaster), a dragon punch (Rising Rocket), and an attack that lets him cover distance quickly (Strong/Fierce Flash Knuckle).
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Just running into Jamie is enough to get Luke ready to brawl and argue. And judging by their arcade endings, they've been at this since they were kids.
  • Signature Move: Considering how he has a V-Skill (Hard Shot) and V-Trigger (Vanguard) that gives him more utility and enhances the move, Flash Knuckle is very much Luke's own equivalent of Guile's Sonic Boom or Ryu's Hadoken. 6 allows him to do his signature Flash Knuckle in the air, akin to Ryu and Ken having aerial variations of their Hurricane Kick, further cementing this.
  • Symbol Motif Clothing:
    • Or rather tattoos. Luke is associated with stars, with large stars tattooed on each shoulder, arrays of smaller stars on each forearm, and he has some stars shaved into the sides of his hair. In his initial announcement trailer, the Capcom logo is also displayed in front of a star.
    • His outfit in 6 features a star design on his shirt, similar his tattoos in V.
  • Three-Strike Combo: "Triple Impact", which is one of his signature Target Combos, where it is performed by pressing Jab (Light Punch), Strong (Medium Punch), then Fierce (Heavy Punch) in quick succession.
  • Variant Power Copying: Luke's Sand Blaster, Rock Smasher and Thermobaric Thrash/Vulcan Blast, are variants of Guile's Sonic Boom and Solid Puncher, which in themselves are variants of Charlie's Sonic Boom and Sonic Break.
  • Wake-Up Call Boss: Fighting Luke for the first time in World Tour is a huge difficulty spike compared to the generic NPCs populating the world, with way higher damage output and stats. Not even having Bosch with you makes it much easier.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: His win quote against A.K.I. reveals that he is afraid of poison.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: 6 introduces a DDT follow-up to his Overdrive Flash Knuckle, performed by pressing two punch buttons after the first hit connects.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!:
    • His win quote against Ibuki in V.
Frickin' ninja kids messing 'round with bombs...
    • He sometimes yells words to the effect if he's KO'd in 6.
      You're kidding me!
