    Woodrow "Woody" Waylon Johnson
Voiced by: Tom Kenny
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/woody_johnson_transparent.png
The head of Brickleberry's ranger station, Woody is a very amoral man who cares only about maintaining his job. He's also a former porn-star, US Marine and veteran of Iraq who's also a war criminal, and Malloy's owner.
  • Acrofatic: Despite being overweight, he retains all the combat skill he was taught in the army, and can move very quickly for a man his size.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: After the Secretary of the Interior demotes him, a night at Firecracker Jim's place is horrible enough to get him to beg her to give him his old job back.
  • Amusing Injuries: When he is forced to walk off the plank by Pirate Steve:
    Woody: Goodbye cruel wooorld!
[lands feet-first into surprisingly shallow water]
Woody: Aww, I broke my goddamn ankles!
  • Ax-Crazy: His anger issues, hedonism, and greed has resulted in countless deaths, mostly the visitors at his park or other innocent bystanders.
  • Bad Boss: He constantly abuses his employees, especially Steve.
  • Calling the Old Woman Out: He has it out with his mother at the end of "That Brother's My Father" before literally throwing her out of his house.
  • The Chew Toy: He's suffered tons of beatings, mutilations, and humiliations, which are usually brought upon himself with his greed and bigotry.
  • Child by Rape: A strange example. While Woody originally wasn't conceived via rape, after some Time Traveling in the Armoogeddon comics, Anita (his mother) raped him after he passed out which impreganated her.
  • Child Hater: To say the least, he doesn't have a high opinion of children, often beating them up and insulting them.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: But only for the episode "Trip to Mars". He also believes that climate change is a hoax made up by liberals such as Al Gore.
  • Cuteness Proximity: When first introduced to the squabbit, Woody clearly finds the creature precious.
  • Deadpan Snarker: While usually bad on the "Deadpan" part, he still has his snarky moments.
Malloy: [To Connie.] Don't let [Ethel] get in your head; you're a star.
Woody: Yeah, cuz people go blind when they stare at her.
  • Deranged Park Ranger: He is a quick-tempered, antisocial conspiracy theorist and, ironically for a park ranger, a climate change denier.
  • Dirty Coward: In "Old Wounds", it revealed he abandoned a fellow soldier to a grenade to save himself, despite claiming to be blood brothers with said soldier.
  • Dirty Old Man: He is a 55-year-old man who has had sex with many woman over half his age, including the 18-year-old Tiffany who, to his horror, was actually his daughter.
  • Dumb Blonde: Downplayed. He is nowhere near as stupid as Steve, but he's nonetheless ignorant and careless himself.
  • Enraged by Idiocy: The main reason he is so aggressively hostile towards his workers is because they constantly bring shame to the park with their incompetence, especially Steve. That being said, Ethel, despite being the Only Sane Employee, still isn't immune to his scorn.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Despite his cold-hearted behavior, he does seem to genuinely care for Malloy.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • As abrasive and corrupt as he is, Mayor Ford's anticsnote  are enough to be too much for him to handle.
    • Despite being a Dirty Old Man, he was horrified upon realizing Tiffany, the 18-year-old girl he had sex with, was actually his biological daughter.
  • Evil Is Petty: Plenty of examples, but intentionally increasing his carbon footprint with a factory of fossil fuels and cows (among other things) solely to spite Ethel certainly deserves special mention.
  • Fat Bastard: He's overweight and is a complete dick to his employees and everyone around him.
  • The Fundamentalist: He's a right-wing conservative Christian who believes in God, is against Catholicism, and rejects scientific ideas that go against his beliefs like climate change and the Earth being more than 10,000 years old. He is also willing to use his religion for monetary gain, such as the titular "Miracle Lake".
  • Gagging on Your Words: When he tries to apologize to the governor he offended. He just ends up insulting her again.
  • Gag Lips: Invoked by Malloy when he manipulates Woody into getting massive, ridiculous-looking lips as part of his ploy to get him to look like a huge fish so he'd win a Bass Masters Championship.
  • Gag Penis: If the black bar in his porno movies is to be believed, his dick almost reaches his knees. Woody even described it as "a dishonest Pinocchio nose."
  • Greed: It's clear he cares more about making money than the safety of his workers.
  • Grumpy Old Man: This seems to be how Malloy views Woody, as he once described him as "so old and cranky".
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He can barely go five seconds without something sending him into a rage.
  • Hates Their Parent: He makes it abundantly clear in every episode regarding his mother Anita that he absolutely hates her from the bottom of his heart. Makes sense considering how abusive she is.
  • The Heckler: He becomes one at a rally for a female governor candidate. His behavior results in her approving a highway that runs straight through Brickleberry.
  • High-Pressure Blood: Literally. When Dr. Kuzniak tries to draw some blood after he had a stroke, it sprays out across the room.
  • Hidden Depths: Was a professional level gymnast when he was younger, but was banned from competing due to going on a murderous rampage after losing the gold medal in the Ranger Games to Yellowstone.
  • Hilariously Abusive Childhood:
    • Though your mileage may vary on how "hilarious" it is. The first and second episode revealed that Woody's father dressed him up like a woman and sexually abused him after (he falsely claimed) his mom died and that Woody's mom never loved him, which gave Woody post-traumatic stress disorder (then again, so did joining the Army and participating in active combat) that drove him to dress up like a Nazi officer with a Kermit the Frog puppet urging him to kill himself. Fortunately, the PTSD went away after he adopted Malloy.
    • A later episode showed that his mother gave him a hooker for his eighth birthday and forced him to have sex with the hooker so he doesn't "turn into a queer" and "That Brother's My Father" showed that she shoved Woody in a closet filled with birds and bees after catching him masturbating to a National Geographic magazine with African tribeswomen and had him breastfed until he was 17.
    • His cousin Randall later treated him like shit weeks after living with him, and was later neglected by his aunt for most of his life living with them until his mother got out of rehab.
  • Insufferable Imbecile: While he's not quite as dumb as Steve, he has demonstrated poor judgment on several occasions and often prioritizes short-term gain over everything else.
  • It's All About Me: No matter what situation he's in, his only concern is how he can benefit from it.
  • Jerkass to One: Although by no means a saint, he is particularly abusive toward Steve and will even put the latter's life in danger when it serves his purposes.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Anytime he seems to have a Pet the Dog moment, it either doesn't last or isn't related to the actual matter. Nevertheless, he's always shown back to being an asshole again straight afterward.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: He has endured a lot of bad luck (usually from Malloy or Steve), but it's generally deserved since he is a such a greedy, uncaring sociopath.
  • Lack of Empathy: If you aren't Woodrow "Woody" Waylon Johnson (or Malloy), don't expect him to ever genuinely care about your feelings.
  • Large Ham: Courtesy of Tom Kenny, he is quite loud and bombastic for the most part.
  • Laughably Evil: He's the kind of person that you would never want to meet in real life, but he's hilarious to watch.
  • Like Parent, Like Child: More like "Like Mother, Like Son"; Woody and his mommy Anita are both bigoted jerks.
  • Money Dumb: He wastes the park's fundings on drugs, birthday party decorations, fossil fuels, plastic surgery, etc. The only times he shows concern with his money is when Malloy uses it on weapons and junk food without his consent.
  • Narcissist: He has a very high opinion of himself and gets angry whenever others criticize his actions.
  • No Indoor Voice: He seems to be incapable of speaking in anything other than a full-throated shout.
  • Nominal Hero: He's a greedy, bigoted, selfish, narcissistic man who only tries to keep the park running so that he doesn't lose his paycheck.
  • Only Known By His Nickname: Is typically just called "Woody" instead of his real first name ("Woodrow").
  • Parental Substitute: He adopted Malloy after his biological parents died, though the feelings are obviously mutual.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Downplayed. While he isn't always in a bad mood, he is usually shown to be quite sour, especially when things don't go his way.
  • Plot Allergy: He reveals in "Obamascare [sic]" that he's highly allergic to crab cakes. Unfortunately from him, Steve then exploits this to get revenge on him.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: He's a racist, classist, homophobic, misogynistic, child hating, egocentric ex-Marine who tries to keep the park in order despite his horrible personality. However, at his absolute worst, he can be a Politically Incorrect Villain instead.
  • Pointy-Haired Boss: He started a forest fire to impress a higher-up, siphons park funds for his birthday party, keeps a bear cub as a pet after one of his workers ran over and accidentally shot the cub's parents, signs permits indiscriminately (and often under the influence), keeps a bunch of grossly incompetent employers around (even though Ethel is said to be the only one who actually does her job and can be trusted with responsibilities, and he can't fire Denzel since there's a high chance he'll sue for racial discrimination), etc. Really, it's a long list.
  • Porn Names: When Woody was a porn star, he went by the name "Rex Erection". Ethel points out that "Woody Johnson" would've been a good porn name on its own, but Woody doesn't get it.note
  • Psychopathic Manchild: He belittles anyone he considers beneath him, has a callous disregard for others, throws destructive temper tantrums when things don't go his way, and always feels it should be all about him. Basically a grade school bully inside a middle-aged man's body.
  • Pushover Parents: He spoils Malloy with junk food, video games, and weapons while letting the latter walk all over him.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The rage-filled and melodramatic Red Oni to Malloy's relaxed and deadpan Blue Oni.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: He is a millionaire who can be rather harebrained (albeit not to Steve's extent), frequently being careless with his own cash.
  • Serial Killer: It hasn't been the focus of an episode, but he apparently has a kill count of several ex-girlfriends, a lot of prostitutes, and opposing candidates for a club membership he wanted. He also works as a hitman for hire.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Him and his cousin Randall are both short-tempered, jerkish, and politically incorrect.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: Having Malloy as a stress pet is the only thing keeping Woody from a complete breakdown, due to his unstable mental state after his experiences in the army. On the occasions where Malloy is gone, his PTSD quickly resurfaces, and he has serious war flashbacks.
  • Skyward Scream: Combined with a Big "NO!" when he sees that a highway has been built over Brickleberry.
  • The Sociopath: A low-functioning example. He mistreats his employees — Steve in particular — on a regular basis and is even willing to put their lives in jeopardy when doing so would benefit him in some way or will amuse him. He never expresses regret for his actions. He has a constant need to be the center of attention and is prone to having destructive tantrums when things do not go his way. He also mistreats children and women, having enslaved, abused, and even killed a good amount of them. In several flashbacks from his time in the military, he is shown abandoning his comrades to their deaths, even after claiming to be blood brothers with one of them.
  • Sociopathic Soldier: While it's never elaborated upon, he mentions committing several war crimes during his time in the Marines.
  • Sore Loser: An extreme case; Woody once went on a murderous rampage when he lost a gold medal during the Ranger Games.
  • Straw Character: A stereotypical right-winger who endorsed John McCain and Sarah Palin in the 2008 presidential election, is a member of the NRA, thinks climate change is a hoax, and is a loud-mouthed critic towards Barack Obama, the Democratic Party, liberals, and left-wing ideals such animal rights and feminism.
  • Straw Misogynist: He's incredibly misogynistic. His misogyny ended up biting him in the ass, as after making fun of Governor Melcher in "My Way or the Highway"; she ended up creating a huge traffic free way in the park and near his house, much to his chagrin.
  • Would Hurt a Child: As several episodes have shown, he has no issue assaulting children, even babies, if they so much as get in his way.
  • Villain Protagonist: He is amoral, callous, self-centered, and arrogant; he frequently treats his employees badly and is more than willing to risk their lives in exchange for a mere paycheck.

    Steven "Steve" Jonah Williams
Voiced by: David Herman
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/steve_williams_transparent.png
The show's main protagonist. He's a park ranger who has won the Ranger of the Month award every month since he was hired. How he's always Ranger of the Month is a mystery (that only Woody knows) because he's very bad at his job.
  • Abusive Dad: His father is implied to have robbed him of his money and beat his mom, then lied and said a ghost did it. Steve was in complete denial over it, though. Subverted as it's revealed his father is innocent and a ghost really did rob him and beat his mom.
  • Accidental Hero: In "Cops and Bottoms", he accidentally rescues someone and defeats the crook who was holding her hostage.
  • Ambiguously Bi: Normally he's only seen interested in ladies. But at one point when he's trying to get Denzel off weed, Denzel says he'll suck his dick if he lets him have some. Steve tells him that he can suck his dick, but he's not giving him any weed. Then he spreads his legs. At another point, him and Denzel are forced to take part in bondage games and told to act like dogs. When Steve sniffs Denzel's butt, Denzel tells him that just because they were ordered to act like dogs doesn't mean he has to go that far. Steve was unaware that he had been asked to do anything.
  • Animals Hate Him: Several instances involve him being attacked by animals. In the pilot, for example, he gets surrounded by animals... and the only one that didn't attack him peed on him instead.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Is shown to have a completely one sided crush on Ethel all the way.
  • Baldness Angst: He's not happy about being a Prematurely Bald, as "Steve's Bald" reveals. Granted, he eventually gets over this.
  • Blatant Lies: Generally, it's clear when he's lying. However, the others characters don't think so.
  • Boob-Based Gag: A downplayed variant. While his manboobs aren't exceptionally large, they're responsible several (but not many) of the series' jokes.
  • Book Dumb: He shows shades of this as he can't spell "either" and he can only count up to 92.
  • Brainy Brunette: He inverts this; he's brown-haired and is easily one of the least intelligent characters in the show.
  • Break the Haughty: He is shown to have a big ego and a penchant for bad luck.
  • Broken Pedestal: Was traumatically exposed to the fact that his childhood idol Flamey the Bear was a drunken, drug-addicted, hedonistic asshole, though what broke him was when Flamey signed the back of his album ("Flamey the Bear: Jazz in Your Face") with the message, "I had fun fucking your girlfriend. Suck my dick, Flamey the Bear", and when Flamey confessed that he had sex with his mother the day he met him at the opening of a Winn-Dixie.
  • Butt-Monkey: Second only to Connie. He gets humiliated and injured on a daily basis, mostly from his own stupidity.
  • The Chew Toy: Most, if not all, of his misfortunes Played for Laughs. He's also this In-Universe, especially to Malloy.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: He has very strange perceptions of the outside world, to say the least.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right:
    • He believes a ghost was responsible for the black eyes his mom received and robbing him of his Christmas gifts. Turns out said ghost was Real After All.
    • He also assumed his Swiss replacement was some sort of terrorist. Turns out the guy actually was a terrorist.
  • Didn't Think This Through: He never plans anything out in advance because he is so stupid. He made the decision to abuse steroids the Ranger Games in order to increase his strength. Of course, since he didn't exercise while on them, he became morbidly obese instead of muscular.
Connie: Did you work out at all?
Steve: You have to work out? What the hell good are steroids, then?
  • The Ditz: Being the stupidest of the main cast, he has frequently endangered the safety of himself and others. Not to mention that he cannot count past 92 nor tell fiction from reality.
  • Does Not Like Spam: His response to tasting a blueberry in "Woody's Girl"? He spits it out in disgust and flat-out states he hates it.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Quite downplayed as he doesn't look feminine. However, in "In Da Club" a group of Butch Lesbians mistook him for a Lady Looks Like a Dude.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Although he lives up to the first part, he does have his moments of making accurate statements. For instance in "Crippleberry [sic]", he pointed out to Denzel that it wouldn't be safe for him, a paralyzed man, to drive.
  • Extreme Doormat: He mostly does whatever Woody tells him to, no matter how sick or demeaning. In "The Dam Show," he tried to establish himself as leader of the flood survivors, but ended up letting them walk all over him and do whatever they felt like.
  • Fake Ultimate Hero: He pretends to be Big Foot in "Steve's Bald".
  • Fat and Proud: He proudly admits to being fat at the end of "Steve's Bald".
  • Fat and Skinny: The fat to skinny Denzel.
  • Fat Idiot: He's definitely an idiot, and while he probably doesn't look very fat next to Woody or Connie, he still has an obesity problem which garners its own episode in "High Stakes".
  • Freudian Excuse: It's implied his selfishness and arrogance are a result of him getting treated like shit by the people around him.
  • Hairstyle Inertia: Had the same haircut as a kid as he does as an adult, even though "Steve's Bald" revealed that he lost the hair on his head the day he hit puberty and had to wear a toupee through his teen years.
  • Hermaphrodite: Implied, but ultimately subverted. While he's stated to have a Teeny Weenie and a couple Fan Disservice shots reveal he does have testicles, Denzel once described his gentalia as a "ball-gina". However, the comics reveal he isn't intersex.
  • His Own Worst Enemy: Many of his problems are due to his stupidity, naivete, inability to learn from his mistakes, and to a lesser extent his ego. In "Two Weeks Notice", Dr. Kuzniak sorta even calls him out on his self-destructiveness.
  • Humiliation Conga: Many moments in the series are the writers trying to knock Steve down a peg.
  • Idiot Hero: He is the main hero (technically speaking), and yet he is so stupid and thoughtless that he puts himself and others at risk.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: There are hints of it, at least.
    • The pilot (and to a much lesser extent "Amber Alert") suggest Steve likes being the only ranger who consistently wins the Ranger of the Month award. When he thinks Ethel was planning on stealing it from him, he goes from trying to impress her to being antagonistic. When he thinks she was going to win it and there was nothing he could do about it, it's implied he started (or was going) to drown his sorrows.
    • When Steve thinks in "Write 'Em Cowboy" he hadn't accomplished diddy-squat with his life and therefore nobody will remember him when he dies, he decides he needs to "make [his] mark on the world". He even tries to accomplish a world-record via shoving many rolls of dimes up his butt.
    • He's clearly upset upon learning he never fairly won a single thing in "Amber Alert"; all his accomplishments were due to his mother sleeping with innumerable men. (Yes, really.) He even later breaks down in tears about the fact she had sex with Woody so he'd give him his job and reward him with the Ranger of the Month award every month. Afterwards, he decides to start "taking [his] life back" and earn everything he received in life by himself.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: When introduced, he's shown to be an overconfident and occasionally condescending ranger with a clear-cut case of Small Name, Big Ego. However, there are instances (often setbacks, like being exposed as Prematurely Bald) which reveal this actually hides a vulnerable and insecure man. In "Hello Dottie", Steve even gets called out on the fact he doesn't actually respect himself. As a part of him Taking a Level in Kindness, though, the "Superiority" part gets dialed down.
  • Innocent Bigot: Played for Laughs variation, although he's not as "nice" as some cases.
    • One of his Ranger of the Month pictures reveals he once tried to celebrate Black History Month... by putting himself in black face. Denzel (who is a man of color) even tells him, "If you weren't so dumb I might be offended.".
    • In "Race Off!", he seems to be trying to give a black man (Denzel) an Apology Gift,... which was a pimp cup. He was offended by this.
  • Insufferable Imbecile: He's very stupid and generally puts himself before others.
  • Iron Butt Monkey: Recovers from a lot of things that ought to have killed or permanently disabled him. Hell, his paralysis in "Crippleberry" didn't last.
  • It's All About Me: Doesn't give two-shits about anything but himself. Ethel and, to a lesser extent, Denzel even call him out on this trope.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: He's no All-Loving Hero, but sometimes he actually says something accurate. In "Welcome to Brickleberry" for instance, he states that Malloy is a "dick". While he was kinda harsh, it's still made extremely clear that Malloy is a textbook jerkass.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's a rude, selfish, and narcissistic person who, at least a couple times, has been called out on the "Jerk" part (though it later gets toned down). He also can be a decent friend when he feels like it and is often shown to be often cordial to his co-workers and seems to care about them. He even tried to save the park by disguising himself as a poacher and raising animals so he can pay the reverse mortgage.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: Played for Laughs a couple times. After getting his Ranger of the Month badge back in the first episode, for instance, he seems like he was going to give it to Ethel... then he puts it on the other side of his shirt. She sorta calls him out on this.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: A zig-zagged example. He's one of the show's biggest punching bags for sure given how frequently he's subjected to painful injuries and humiliation. Some of it is karmic, like being Chased Off into the Sunset by Ethel after he accidentally confesses to drugging her coffee. Other instances, however, aren't karmic (e.g. being manipulated by Malloy).
  • Lethally Stupid: His stupidity has caused countless deaths, billions of dollars worth of property damage, and major harm to others. Turns out his stupidity was also what killed Malloy's parents, turning Malloy into the Jerkass he is now.
  • Loser Protagonist: He is a complete idiot who cannot do anything right, has no social skills, and gets treated like crap by just about everyone (especially Woody and Malloy).
  • Manchild: Can act like a child stuck in a grown man's body.
  • Mister Seahorse: When Ethel has their baby aborted, Steve pays Dr. Kuzniak to have the embryo put in him. Subverted as it turns out it was an ovarian cyst.
  • More Hypnotizable Than He Thinks: In one episode he visits a hypnotist to help him get over his fear of flying. He starts to say that he doubts someone with a will as strong as him can be hypnotized, but the hypnotist snaps his fingers and Steve is under before he can finish his sentence.
  • Narcissist: Is more into himself than women. Taken to extremes in Little Boy Malloy, where he hooks up with a school teacher who looks exactly like him, and even acts like him.
  • Never My Fault: He thinks everyone around him has problems except him.
  • Nominal Hero: He only saves the day either by accident, when he actually feels like it, or gets arm-twisted into doing it.
  • Only Known By His Nickname: He's generally called "Steve" instead of his actual first name, "Steven".
  • Pink Is Erotic: Steve's album, "Wholesome Country Songs", features all sorts of innuendos and erotic wordplay. Steve wears a sparkly pink and white cowboy suit while performing, his band wears pink suits, and they all perform on a pink stage.
  • Prematurely Bald: He went bald sometime during puberty, according to "Steve's Bald".
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: A Played for Laughs case; he's sometimes shown to have a high-pitched scream, especially in the intros (sans the one to "Write 'Em Cowboy") when Malloy bites him in the groin.
  • Shameless Fanservice Guy: Though he's an example in which using the term "Fanservice" is misleading.
    • Played for Laughs in "Two Weeks Notice"; before he starts doing some very "messed up shit [he] always wanted to do", he strips naked, despite apparently knowing he'd be in public for most of it.
    • In "Baby Daddy", Steve has no issue with Ethel seeing him butt naked.
  • Small Name, Big Ego: Despite him believing he's "a great ranger", he's anything but. In "Steve's Bald", he even mentions he's the best-looking, most badass ranger around and everybody knows it. He later states he's been "cultivating an image of the coolest guy in the park, an object of desire for women and confused animals". He's completely wrong, even on the last thing.
  • Smug Snake: Particularly when he starts gloating like a Saturday morning cartoon villain about how Ethel doesn't know he spiked her coffee. His Oh, Crap! when he realizes he said that out loud makes it even sillier.
  • Snark Ball: Occasionally makes snarky comments, despite generally being shown to be the opposite of smart.
Ethel: [While she was the head ranger instead of Woody, and after Steve rescued some tourists] Oh god, you had me worried. I thought you were gonna do something stupid.
Steve: Sorry to disappoint you "boss".
  • Spell My Name with a "The": Calls himself "The Steve" after taking steroids, and the other characters follow suit.
  • Straw Loser: His stupid, pathetic nature only makes his dysfunctional teammates look brilliant by comparison.
  • Teeny Weenie: Its been mentioned in a few episodes and straight out shown in the comic book's 1st issue that he has an abnormally small penis. However, in "Animals Strike Back" after Steve put his dick in a yellow jacket bee hive, it did grow 6 inches.....wider. Oh, and according to Denzel in "Daddy Issues", he has a "ball-gina".
  • Temporary Bulk Change:
  • That Man Is Dead: He has this response to Malloy asking him how long he's going to pretend to be Bigfoot.
Steve: [...] Steve is dead. I'm going to be Bigfoot forever.
  • This Loser Is You: His stupid, careless, immature, self-centered nature has classified him as a loser by the rest of the cast.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Considering his colossal stupidity, it's astonishing he even manages to stay alive. According to "Two Weeks Notice", he has contracted multiple STDs from injecting himself with an unused syringe, eating a homeless man's sandwich in exchange for five bucks, and becoming blood brothers with a bunch of African tribe members.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: Steve becomes more kinder and helpful and is less narcissistic in Season 3. One bright example would be in "Obamascare" where he decided to share his liver with Woody, and treats him like a loving friend.
  • Troll: Played for Laughs in "Woody's Girl" when he chases Connie with a raw fish (which she's afraid of) for the lulz.
  • Unsympathetic Comedy Protagonist: Most of his misfortunes are rather deserving due to how self-centered he is.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: As shown in "Cops and Bottoms", all he wants is for his dad to be proud of him.
  • "World's Best" Character: He's the "Best Park Ranger on Earth"...in his head.

    Malloy
Voiced by: Daniel Tosh
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/malloy_transparent.png
A bear who hangs out with the rangers. Was adopted by Head Ranger Woody Johnson after Steve unintentionally ran over his parents and accidentally shot them while trying to run for help.
  • Absurd Phobia: Is scared of cows. Though it becomes less "Absurd" when it's revealed he was right about them being evil.
  • Abusive Offspring: Even though Woody is his Parental Substitute, Malloy still treats him horribly, making him his indentured servant, stealing his kidneys, chasing him with a loaded gun, tricking him into hurting himself out of amusement, and being more than willing to endanger his life when it suits him.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: A subverted example when he's forced to go to school in "Little Boy Malloy". When he arrives, some kid kicked him while he was swinging. And some brat tried to give him a "Reason You Suck" Speech with (at least some of) his friends cheering him. However, Malloy manages to steal all his friends and become well-liked amongst his fellow students.
  • All Take and No Give: His relationships with Woody and Anita involve them spoiling him while he gives them nothing in return. Also, when he learns the latter no longer has any money, he outright abandons her and tells her to "choke on [his] balls".
Malloy: [After Woody finally kicks Anita out.] No, Gam Gam, don't go! I-I need more presents. [briefly starts stammering] I mean I love you.
Anita: I don't have anymore money, Malloy.
Malloy: Choke on my [while abandoning Anita and rolling his eyes] balls.
  • Ax-Crazy: While he's generally better at hiding it than Ethel was in "Steve's Bald", Malloy still has an unstable side. For example, he once ran over several people just because he didn't want to pay them.
  • Baby Talk: In his younger years, he spoke in baby talk.
  • Badass Adorable: Sure, he's a cute little bear. However, he's not be taken lightly, especially if he has a gun...
  • Bad Boss: If you're unfortunate enough to work under Malloy, chances are that he'll treat you like scat.
  • Bears Are Bad News: An unconventional example of this trope; he's not a physical threat to any of the main characters, opting instead to be a spoiled, insulting jerk who only cares about himself. Played completely straight, however, whenever he has an enemy his own size, such as an obnoxious 1st grader and a group of actor midgets.
  • Big Eater: He consumes a large amount of junk food that he orders through Woody's credit card.
  • Big Ol' Eyebrows: His eyebrows are drawn thicker than the other characters', even the one's drawn with bushy, nappy eyebrows to begin with.
  • Black Comedy Rape: Doubles as Double Standard: Rape, Male on Male, partially because it was essentially dismissed afterwards. On the first episode, Malloy gets subjected to a Played for Laughs variation of I Have You Now, My Pretty, due to Bobby.
  • Blood Knight: Has shades of this; when fighting against some cows, Malloy is about as happy as Denzel is when he's high.
  • Blood-Splattered Warrior: He gets some blood splattered on him while fighting some cows.
  • Body Pocket: He stuffs some vibrator batteries into his "pocket" in episode one.
  • Brainy Brunette: Kinda. His fur is brown and he's often a fine (if lazy) schemer who's good at manipulating people.
  • Break the Cutie: It's revealed in his backstory that he was a cheerful, rather sweet, and even cuter cub... who found his beloved parents after they were both shot in their heads and he watches his mother pass away as she says her Famous Last Words, "Son, never forget us. Never forget where you came from.". Not so much with his present self; while bad stuff can happen to him, he's also now one helluva jerkass who long since lost "The Cutie" partnote .
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: He is smartest of the characters (alongside Ethel), but he prefers to lounge around watching TV, playing video games, and eating junk food.
  • Brutal Honesty: Big time. One of Malloy's most noticeable traits is that he's anything but afraid to speak his mind.
Astral: Malloy, I'm hoping that we can be friends.
    Malloy: Fuck off, weirdo.
  • The Bully: He takes joy in tormenting the Brickleberry crew, Steve in particular.
  • The Caligula: He describes himself as this when wondering if the cows would give him his own country in the future; he states he'd be "a mix between Kim Jong and King Joff" (who are both examples of this trope themselves). And that's his definition of being "a fair ruler". He also has several other traits associated with this trope.
  • Card-Carrying Jerkass: He shows shades of this; at least once he's snarkily called himself a "stinker". However, calling him that is an understatement.
  • Cheerful Child: It's shown in flashbacks that he was cheerful when he was a cub.
  • Childish Tooth Gap: When he was a cub, Malloy had tooth gaps, at least in the flashback from "The Animals Strike Back".
  • Chronic Pet Killer: He's killed a goldfish, puppy, toucan, and hobo. All ended up being flushed down the toilet after they died. The only pets he had that didn't die from being neglected by him were a hamster and a horse (both of which killed themselves).
  • The Comically Serious: Most of his blunt remarks towards others are rather chuckle-worthy.
  • Cold Ham: Although he is rather deadpan for the most part, Daniel Tosh's bombastic acting props still show.
  • Cute Is Evil: He may be rather adorable, but he's still a horrible excuse for a living being.
  • The Cynic: He is almost always shown contemplating all sorts of stuff that is stupid, horrible, or uninteresting.
  • Deadpan Snarker: He often insults everyone with sarcastic comments. Woody once even lampshaded it via (affectionately) calling him a "sarcastic little asshole".
Warden Smalls: Anyway, I run a fair and honorable Christain prison here. Rule number one; no sarcasm.
Malloy: [In a heavily sarcastic tone.] Aw that's a great rule.
  • Didn't Think This Through: In Season 3 he tries going solo without Woody twice ("Write Em Cowboy" and "Baby Daddy") despite that Woody is his sole source of food and shelter. In "Baby Daddy" when he abandoned Woody to stay imprisoned in a mental asylum we see that Malloy takes food for granted when he opens a fridge to find it empty and asking "Why isn't this fridge magically filling itself?" before the house goes dark from being shut off by the power company.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: He pulls this off on a daily basis. In "Miss National Park", he murders a wheelchair-bound kid simply because he was humiliated by him in a video game.
  • Does Not Like Magic: Quite downplayed as this series isn't magic-centered. However, he flat-out states in "Write 'Em Cowboy" that it "sucks".
  • Entitled Bastard: Malloy continually calls Ethel a slut and generally treats her like shit. He still expects her to let him live with her in the governor's mansion if she is elected governor despite putting on a clear Bitch in Sheep's Clothing act. Even worse, he had the audacity to become upset when she politely declined his advances.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: A downplayed example as he's more of a jerkass. However, "The Animals Strike Back" reveals he does love his biological parents. He's also openly angry with Steve when he finally learns that he's their killer and later gets "even" with him via making him watch as he kills his parents.
  • Expy: He serves as this to Eric Cartman; they're both politically incorrect, manipulative, snarky, and lazy Spoiled Brats who show symptoms of Anti-Social Personality Disorder, display all Seven Deadly Sins, and are victims of sexual violence. They're also both some of (if not the) most rotten and amoral characters in their respective shows, although they still do have their reasons why they're like that.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: He has shades of this; while he's cute on the outside, the same cannot be said for the inside...
  • Faux Affably Evil: He will act cordial whenever it suits him, but it's clear he never means it.
  • Freudian Excuse: The deaths of his parents when he was a cub didn't do him any favors.
  • Groin Attack: He bites Steve on the penis in every show opening (sans the one to "Write 'Em Cowboy"), although it looks more like he's biting him in the thigh. However, at least twice, this trope has happened to him.
  • Hates Everyone Equally: Has no respect for women (even hot ones), different races, gay people, rednecks, and other animals (bears included).
  • The Hedonist: His loving junk food, porn, apparently being addicted to Video Games plus his phone, and having a sadistic streak altogether point to him being hedonistic.
  • Height Angst:
    • Type I. Malloy is exceptionally small for a 6-year-old bear (meaning he's no longer a cub).
    • A downplayed case in "Write 'Em Cowboy" as he doesn't seem insecure about his small stature. However, he does wish he was taller so he would no longer be infantilized. It ultimately becomes a Type II when he decides he hates being tall, courtesy of a Be Careful What You Wish For scenerio.
    • Implied in the Armoogeddon comics when he suggests he was hoping his future self would be much bigger than his present self.
  • Hollywood Atheist: He declared in "Two Weeks Notice" that there is no god, despite their being god in the Brickleberry universe.
  • Humiliation Conga: Despite typically being a Karma Houdini, he experiences this trope big time in "Write 'Em Cowboy". Complete with being infantilized, laughed at, peed on, etc.
  • Hypocrite: He harasses others online (including a cancer patient), but when he gets harassed by someone else online, he doesn't take it well, to say the least.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: Basically his VA Daniel Tosh in cub form, if Tosh was a completely irredeemable human being.
  • Ironic Allergy: Despite him being a bear, he reveals in "Squabbits" that he's allergic to bees.
  • It's All About Me: You're not Malloy's top priority if you're not Malloy.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Yea, he's a jerk alright, but he still can make accurate points.
  • Jerkass to One: While he is needlessly unpleasant towards everyone, his favorite target is Steve whom he humiliates mercilessly on a daily basis. It doesn't help that Steve was the one responsible for death of his parents.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Jerk:
    • He's selfish with an acerbic personality type who also treats everyone like shit, including his owner Woody. If Malloy opens his mouth, chances are he's insulting you, or about to screw you over. And, almost every time he seems like he's going to show a nicer side, he soon reveals that's not the case.
    • There are several instances when Malloy seems like he's going to have a Pet the Dog moment, but it gets subverted in some way. In "Miracle Lake" for instance, he originally seemed like he was going to use a rope to help Denzel and Ethel escape an ice chasm they fell into. Instead, he drops it in the chasm with him, where it's completely useless. He even tells them they should use it to hang themselves and then abandons them without looking back.
    • Almost every time Malloy does something nice, he has an ulterior motive behind it. In "Miss National Park", for instance, he agrees to help Connie win a beauty pageant. However, this is only because he wanted the prize (a ticket to China) so he could travel there and get disproportionate vengeance on a Bratty Half-Pint.
  • Just One More Level!: He lives a very sedentary lifestyle sitting around playing video games all day and gets violent and irritated if someone disrupts him.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: For all the times he has gotten away with heinous acts — whether it's playing a corrupt lawyer or insulting people — there are an equal amount of times where he does suffer, even if through no fault of his own.
  • Karmic Butt-Monkey: To a lesser extent than Steve or Woody, but he does tend to receive much well-deserved torment, such as being punched in the eye, being tossed out of a glass window, being manhandled by wild animals, being held captive by Bobby, etc.
  • Killer Rabbit: He's a small, cute, and furry critter... but don't give him a gun.
  • Lack of Empathy: Dear god does this bear not care about the well being of anyone but himself.
  • Laughably Evil: He is, to put it mildly, quite unpleasant and ruthless, but his blunt remarks and childish antics with the other character do make him rather entertaining to watch.
  • Lazy Bum: He slouches around munching on junk food, watching TV, and playing video games.
  • Loves the Sound of Screaming: If that smile he gives while listening to one of Woody's girlfriends scream says anything.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He's surprisingly good at manipulation and trickery.
  • Mask of Sanity: He's normally good at hiding the fact he's unstable.
  • Mister Big: He becomes the leader of Latin Kings (a prison gang) in "Sacred Straight", seems to be its smallest member, and is The Napoleon.
  • Morality Pet: He is the only thing keeping Woody from becoming even more unstable and manic than he already is. Malloy is even referred to as Woody's "therapy pet" on several occasions.
  • The Napoleon: Tiny and has his moments of being pushy towards others.
  • Never Gets Fat: Despite his diet consisting of nothing but junk food, he still remains in decent enough shape.
  • Nice Guy: Flashbacks reveal he was rather nice when he was younger. Nowadays, however...
  • Oblivious to His Own Description: He outright describes Cheng as a "dick" in "Miss National Park", while apparently not realizing that's also his character in a nutshell.
  • Older Than He Looks: Looks like a cub, but is 6-years old in bear years, which would already make him an adult at this point.
  • Online Alias: He goes by "MalloyTheTalkingBear12" on eBay. Denzel sold him a jetpack without realizing who he was.
  • Only One Name: Unlike the other main characters (who all have last namesnote ), Malloy's name is just... Malloy.
  • Only Sane by Comparison: Despite his utter immorality, callousness, and laziness, he is the smartest and most logical of the cast alongside Ethel.
  • Perpetual Frowner: He is usually only shown smiling when someone getting maimed or killed in front of him.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: He's a solid marksman who happens to be a tiny bear.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: He's a racist, sexist, homophobic, classist, ableist, and misanthropic individual who's the closest thing to a recurring Big Bad in the series.
  • Promiscuity After Rape: Implied example. He sometimes shows during the series that he's a sexual sadist who's into porn. This is also after he Bobby raped him in the first episode. However, the fact he seemed familiar with a sex toy Ethel had before he was violated could indicate he was already this way. Also, this show (being what it is) doesn't take any of this seriously.
  • Psychopathic Manchild: Malloy is an adult in bear years (being very small notwithstanding), yet he is obsessed with video games and junk food, always wants to be the center of attention no matter what, throws violent temper tantrums when he doesn't get his way, bullies others for his amusement, and has committed countless crimes (murder included). He was even disguised as a child in "Little Boy Malloy" and fit in perfectly with the other children due to his own immaturity.
  • Raised by Humans: He's a bear who was raised by Woody, a human, for most of his life.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The relaxed and deadpan Blue Oni to Woody's rage-filled and melodramatic Red Oni.
  • Sadist: He's got his moments, like he's clearly happy when Steve gets stung by yellowjackets. Also, he apparently Loves the Sound of Screaming.
Malloy: [While watching beauty pageant contestants kill each other.] Now, this is what I call a pageant.
  • Seven Deadly Sins: Envynote , gluttonynote , greednote , lustnote , pridenote , slothnote , and wrathnote  all rolled into one bear.
  • Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: While Malloy doesn't really like anyone other than himself, he for some reason hates Steve more than anybody and works to make Steve's life miserable on a daily basis especially by biting Steve on his penis everyday when the show's intro occurs. Justified, as Woody hates Steve just as much as he does.
  • The Slacker: Spends all day eating junk food, playing video games, and talking and treating everyone like shit.
  • The Sociopath: He lacks empathy, is cunning, remorseless, and extremely self-centered, takes advantage of people, and doesn't give a damn about following the law. Because he is a Sadist and a hedonist, fiercely unstable at his heart, and occasionally exudes superficial charm, he has a strong need for stimulation. Even his affection for his biological parents, which is made clear, is frequently disregarded.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: He almost never raises his voice, even while he is brutalizing others.
  • Spoiled Brat: Much of Malloy's attitude problem seems to come from Woody spoiling him with junk food, firearms, and video games.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: For him, it's everyone around him just by living their pointless lives.
  • Thinking Tic: A few times he touches his chin when thinking.
  • Tiny Tyrannical Girl: Gender-flipped and downplayed. He has a small stature and can be quite bossy.
  • Token Evil Teammate: In a main cast already comprised of jerkasses, Malloy really stands out as being the most abrasive, sadistic, and sociopathic.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: While he was rather sweet in his younger years, you can use one hand to count the times his present self is genuinely nice.
  • Took a Level in Smartass: He wasn't a Deadpan Snarker when he was younger, but the same cannot be said for his present self.
  • Tranquil Fury: He rarely, if ever, raises his voice when he's angry. Special mention goes to when he finds out that Steve was the one who (albeit accidentally) killed his parents.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Being grateful seems to be a foreign concept to Malloy.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Despite being rude, cynical, and unstable now, several flashbacks show he didn't have these traits when he was younger and that he was a Nice Guy. For instance, the beginning of "Woody's Girl" shows a flashback when Malloy was a baby, and he tells Woody he loves him. In the present, Malloy is chasing Woody with a gun.
  • Villain Protagonist: Is the closest thing to a recurring Big Bad in the series and is one of the main characters of the show.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: Has shades of this in "The Animals Strike Back" in which he wants to kill the ranger who killed his parents. Also, as awful as his actions are, his Freudian Excuse is genuinely tragic; when he was a cub, he found his parents after they were shot in their heads and he watched his mother die while she told him not to forget them and where he came from.
  • Villainous Glutton: He frequently uses Woody's credit card balance to purchase all sorts of junk food.
  • Vocal Dissonance: He has quite a deep voice, courtesy of Daniel Tosh, for a three-foot-tall bear. It does fit his personality, though, and does make it clear he is actually an adult.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Played for Grim Laughs once or twice, though he throws a stone at a woman in one episode. Given his sexism, this fits him.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Has zero qualms using violence on children. Special note goes to when he he killed a kid in a wheelchair (Cheng) after being insulted by him online.
Malloy: Oh, my God! I had no idea... it was going to be this easy!

    Denzel Jackson

One of the rangers who work at the station and Steve's best friend. He is a total fuck up at his job since he's a complete coward who's afraid of the forest and all wildlife in general.
  • Black and Nerdy: Secretly a huge Lord of the Rings fan after getting introduced to the stories by Steve.
  • Black Is Bigger in Bed: Fulfills the comedic version of this trope, though ironically, he does not have the biggest genitals on the show, or even of the main cast, with Woody, being an ex-porn star, holding that role.
  • Butt-Monkey: It never fails. At least once an episode, Denzel is the butt of a racist joke.
  • The Casanova: When it comes to old white ladies, Denzel is a real macho motherfucker.
  • The Chain of Harm: Despite falling victim to countless incidents of racism, Denzel himself is racist against Mexicans, treating them the same way white people treat him. In "Race Off!", he was pissed off about becoming white but decided to deal with it, when learning his only other option was becoming Mexican. In "Write 'Em Cowboy", Steve's song about a kid named Billy Black was misconstrued as racist and Denzel asked himself why that kid couldn't have been named "Billy Mexican".
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Despite his own faults, he is this to Steve, such as when he tries to help him with his diet. He even has to remind Steve that he is consuming bear semen, not yogurt.
  • Color Me Black: The inverse happened in "Race Off!", when he became white.
  • Con Man: Plays this role every now and then, when he sees an opportunity to bank off of stupid people. Most notably, in "Squabbits", when he started a secret business, where he sold Squabbit merchandise.
  • Crazy-Prepared: One episode reveals he brings an "EMERGENCY SEX PACK" with him wherever he goes, just in case he finds a gal who he wants to hit on.
  • Dirty Coward: The reason why he is completely terrible at his job is that he's afraid of the forest, darkness, and wild animal such as spiders, snakes, and just anything related to wildlife in general.
  • Extreme Libido: No matter the weather, he's always out for grabbing some saggy flapjacks.
  • Fat and Skinny: The Skinny to Steve's fat.
  • Fish out of Water: When he's in the forest. He thought trees were hairy telephone poles and an owl was a flying mailbox.
  • Functional Addict: Is a weed-smoking pothead but still works perfectly fine. Not that he works though.
  • Greed: Denzel is very money-hungry. In "Squabbits" for instance, he sold Squabbit merchandise, to make bank off of Brickleberry's park mascot. However, he kept it a secret from Woody, knowing that if Woody was made aware of this, he'd have to share his earnings.
  • The Hedonist: Would rather have sex with elderly women, smoke weed, or slack off with Steve than do his work.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Steve.
  • Jive Turkey: He constantly peppers his dialogue with slang.
  • Lean and Mean: The slimmest of the main cast (alongside Ethel) and is a perverted, self-absorbed hedonist who lusts after elderly women and hates Mexicans.
  • Likes Older Women: Is into old, white women. Exaggerated when he had sex with a Neanderthal woman he found in an ice cave and got in the Guinness Book of World Records for having sex with the oldest white woman ever. He's also been on the receiving end of several comedic injuries due to his preferences, such as almost dying in an explosion after his post-coital cigarette ignited his latest bedmates oxygen tank.
  • Morality Pet: He serves as this to Steve, as the latter goes out of his way to help him out more than anyone else.
  • N-Word Privileges: Despite being opposed to white people using the N word in "Race Off!", he goes back on his word in "Amber Alert", when he gives Amber a pass "because she's hot." note
  • Nightmare Fetishist: He's the only one who liked PETA's punishment on the rangers in "Squabbits", having various cosmetics tested on them including have lipstick shoved up his urethra.
  • Noodle People: Has a very scrawny physique.
  • The Prankster: Denzel is always pulling pranks on his co-workers and laughing his ass off about it.
  • Serial Homewrecker: Has destroyed several old men's marriages by sleeping with their wives. However, this was played with in "Global Warning", when it was mentioned by Woody that Denzel was beaten up by angry old men at least twice a day, followed by gags of old men walking up to Denzel and smacking him with their canes because he ruined their marriages.
  • The Slacker: Wastes his time doing jack-shit, unless it's anything to do with old white women, smoking weed, or hanging out with Steve.
  • The Stoner: Loves smoking weed. When Denzel gives up weed for the first time in "Old Wounds", he started to have withdrawals a-la Trainspotting.
Secretary of Interior: From here on, we're gunna start drug testing the rangers.
Denzel: Well, it's been a pleasure working here, but I'm gunna have to leave. Bye.
  • Token Minority: The only black main character on the show.
  • Troll: He spends an entire morning trying to anger Woody in "Woody's Girl" but to no avail. He also messes with him in "That Brother's My Father", like when he gloats to him about the fact he had sex with his mother.
  • With Friends Like These...: To Steve.

    Connie Cunaman
Voiced by: Roger Black
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/connie_cunaman_transparent.png
A female ranger who has a crush on Ethel.
  • Absurd Phobia: She's afraid of raw fish, as "Woody's Girl" shows.
  • Abusive Parents: Her WASPy parents basically disowned her after she came out as gay. Although considering the "winning" personalities THEY have, it's questionable if this really counts as abuse or as a bright spot in her otherwise miserable life. Her mom also pushed her to do pageants as a child with emotional manipulation and encouraging her to do drugs and binge and purge to stay thin.
  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: After becoming famous, Connie becomes a diva with an A God Am I complex. Guess what later happens...
  • Ambiguously Bi: In "That Brother's My Father", Connie was madly in love with Pat Sajak.
  • Ascended Fangirl: She's a massive Wheel of Fortune fangirl and she becomes the co-host of said show.
  • Big Beautiful Woman: Despite her being overweight, Ethel (only when the gay bomb turned her into a lesbian) and Obama think she's this as they clearly view her as a Ms. Fanservice.
  • Big Eater: She's got a big appetite.
  • Brawn Hilda: She's butch, unattractive, masculine-looking, has Super-Strength, and is the cause of some Vulgar Humor.
  • Butch Lesbian: She's so butch that another lesbian thought she was a man.
  • Butt-Monkey: The biggest punching bag in the show, as she has been insulted and assaulted on sight by everyone in the show.
  • Catchphrase: "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!"
  • The Eeyore: Positive and chipper she isn't.
  • Expy: Of Meg Griffin. Both are the biggest punching bags in their respective shows and both mocked for their fat and ugly appearances, although Meg's appearance is more of an Informed Deformity while Connie is legit very fat and ugly.
  • Fan Disservice: Her fat body is so repulsive that seeing her naked or in revealing clothing can cause something to clean their eyes with bleach.
  • Gamer Chick: She shows shades of this; the season 3 finale reveals she adores some Flappy Bird parody.
  • A God Am I: Non-villainous equivalent. While under some Acquired Situational Narcissism, she outright states she's a goddess, although she clearly isn't.
  • Gonk: While the show's art-style is far from visually pleasing, she's by far the ugliest character in the entire show. Many of the insults targeted by her is about her hideous appearance.
  • Hidden Buxom: Invoked in "Little Boy Malloy"; she hides her large breasts while going Sweet Polly Oliver.
  • I Was Quite a Looker: As a child, she was rather cute-looking. Then puberty hit...
  • Lady Looks Like a Dude: She's masculine-looking, particularly compared to many other female characters, and has even been mistaken for a man even by a Butch Lesbian.
  • Multiboobage: She has a pair of tits on her back as well.
  • Perpetual Frowner: It's often rare to see her smiling in some episodes. Her ugly face could be a cause since she's so ugly that other lesbian women don't want her either.
  • Single-Target Sexuality:
    • Is madly in love with Ethel and obsesses over her and only her.
    • Few episodes have given her lovers of the day, (i.e. Trudy from "The Dam Show", Pat Sajack from "That Brother's My Father", Alexa from "Steve the Fearless Pirate", Amber from "Amber Alert", and Gina Jabowski from "Paradise PD Meets Brickleberry".
  • Stalker with a Crush: Has shades of this; Connie really wants Ethel to herself and she has no issue stalking her, though season two doesn't have this as much. She also does the same thing to Amber after falling in love with her in "Amber Alert".
  • Super-Strength: Her Lesbian Strength power. When she was turned straight by the gay bomb, it cause it to remove all of her strength.
  • Token Minority: The token lesbian of the team.
  • Vocal Dissonance: For a woman, she has an exceptionally deep voice.
  • "Well Done, Daughter!" Girl: It's revealed in "Gay Bomb" that all she wanted was for her mother to accept her.

    Ethel Anderson
Voiced by: Kaitlin Olson in season one; season two, by Natasha Leggero
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ethel_anderson_transparent.png
The sane, sometimes sensible, employee on the staff, formerlly from Yellowstone. She was fired from there because of her alcoholism.
  • The Ace: Despite her alcoholism which got her fired from Yellowstone and temporarily got her fired from Brickleberry, she's still a much better employee than everyone in the main cast.
  • Affectionate Nickname: In "Baby Dady", Steve once affectionately (and/or teasingly) called her "Love Bagle".
  • The Alcoholic: She has drinking problems which is why she was fired from Yellowstone.
  • Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: Does a lot of stupid shit when intoxicated, the worst being in the pilot, where she was driving a helicopter that resulted in the deaths and destruction of many people and places.
  • Animal Lover: Cares very deeply for animal wildlife in general.
  • Ax-Crazy: In "Steve's Bald" in which she starts killing animals for fun after blowing a deer's brains out.
  • Big Little Sister: She's somewhat taller than her sister Lucy who's implied to be older than her, at least when they were in prom (though she could've been wearing shoes which made her seem taller).
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Despite her alcoholism and other quirks, she is the only consistently competent worker in Brickleberry.
  • The Conscience: She tries to be this towards Woody and the rest of the crew. Unfortunately, they never listen.
  • Even the Girls Want Her: A subversion. While Connie can't stop trying to get in Ethel's pants, it's later made clear she's not the only woman she's shown to be attracted to.
  • Foil: To both Steve and Woody. The former due to his stupidity and selfishness and the later because of his far-right political views, his greed, and for being a misogynistic, racist asshole.
  • Girl on Girl Is Hot: Had sex with the curvaceous Amber in "Amber Alert", much to the arousal of Connie.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: Downplayed in that she isn't completely innocent herself (especially when alcohol is involved), but she is certainly much nicer than the rest of the Brickleberry crew.
  • Has a Type: As demonstrated in "Daddy Issues", she always dates jerks.
  • Informed Attractiveness: Is supposedly a very attractive woman, but due to the show's art style, she is very plain-looking. It's notable that as soon as the sexier girl, Amber, shows up, everyone starts treating her like she's some kind of filthy creep.
  • Jerkass Ball: While normally the voice of reason amongst the main cast, she still has plenty of moments where she will engage in heinous acts alongside the others.
  • Naked People Are Funny: In the first episode, she wore no pants while drunk. In another, she shows herself naked and drunk at a party to convince the public she's unsuited for public office due to her drinking problem.
  • Nice Girl: While she can be Not So Above It All at times, she's otherwise rather mild-mannered and friendly, showing more care towards wildlife than the other characters.
  • Noodle People: Like Denzel, she has a very slim physique.
  • Not So Above It All: At times, she can be just as crazy and amoral as the rest or the crew, particularly in season 2. She also often takes shots at Connie alongside the others.
  • Only Sane Employee: More like "Only Competent Employee", though season two had her as base and depraved as everyone else. She is also the only ranger in the park that has any sort of moral standards.
  • Pink Means Feminine: She has a pink gun holster.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: In one episode, she has no issue flashing her breasts to an audience.
  • Soapbox Sadie: She stands for a lot of environmental issues, such as endangered animals and global warming. Of course, her efforts almost always end in vain, mostly due to her co-workers' antics.
  • Speaks Fluent Animal: Talks to all forms of animals from the forest.
  • Strong Family Resemblance:
    • A downplayed case with her sister Lucy as the two have similar (but not identical) faces.
    • A flashback shows that Ethel looks kinda similar to her mother, at least when the former got older.
  • Temporary Bulk Change: In "Woody's Girl", she fills in for Woody after the latter takes a break from duty in order to control his stress, only for the staff to become so unruly that she begins stress eating to the point where she becomes almost as heavy as Woody.
  • Token Good Teammate: Downplayed. She isn't without her own faults, but she's still has the strongest moral compass (although that really isn't saying much) amongst the main cast.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Played for Laughs and heavily implied, if not outright stated. "Cops and Bottoms" reveals she has a sign saying "FREE Pussy". According to Denzel, she had it back when she was in middle school.
  • Women Are Wiser: She is the voice of the reason amongst the Brickleberry crew (especially compared to Steve and Woody) and is the only one who properly keeps things in order.
