Rock, Paper, and Scissors

    General

Our three heroes. A group of roommates and longtime buddies who frequently bicker over petty things and get themselves into all manner of wacky shenanigans. But despite everything they go through on a weekly basis, they're utterly inseparable.

  • Freudian Trio: Rock is the Ego, Paper is the Superego, and Scissors is the Id.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: Rock is nice, Scissors is mean, and Paper is in between.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: Rock (sensitive), Scissors (manly), and Paper (manly to Rock and sensitive to Scissors).
  • True Companions: Despite their differences and more-than-occasional bickering, the three of them are always there for each other in the end.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Sure, they bicker and fight, but when they're not going at each other's throats, they truly are best friends.

    Rock
Voiced by: Ron Funches

An anthropomorphic rock and aspiring male model. He's not very bright and rather childlike, but makes up for it with his massive heart, even if he does tend to be very emotional and quite sensitive.

  • Berserk Button: Do not cover him in glitter, or he will hunt you down and make you pay for it.
  • Big Beautiful Man: While "Beautiful" is not the right word. Appears to be overweight but is cute.
  • Big Fun: Appears to be overweight and has a fun-loving excitable personality.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Tends to be the most out of touch with reality.
  • The Cuckoolander Was Right: Turns out he was right about the dinosaurs being wiped out from swordfighting with each other instead of an asteroid, much to Paper's bafflement.
  • Drives Like Crazy: He once got a citation in the mail for running a red light, with the picture showing a crazed look on his face while he's doing it.
  • The Fashionista: Aspires to be a model and wears hats and wigs and costumes and makes poses sometimes.
  • The Fool: The phrase "dumb as a rock" literally applies to him as he is ditzy sometimes, but he does have his moments.
  • The Heart: Of the trio, he's the one that keeps the group together and stops Paper and Scissors from fighting.
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: He has his ditzy moments, but is sweet, kind and helpful.
  • Mood-Swinger: Is claimed by Paper in "The Birthday Police" to be this.
Paper: (About himself, Scissors and Rock) Separately, we're a mess. I'm a big hypocrite, Scissors is too chaotic, and Rock's an emotional rollercoaster.
Rock: (Yelling) I am not! (Crying) I'm sorry! (Smiling) I love you guys!
  • Nice Guy: Is sweet, kind and helpful.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The Sensitive Guy to Scissors' Manly Man.

    Paper

A bespectacled roll of paper who dreams of becoming a famous inventor, despite the fact his gadgets rarely work. He fancies himself as the most intelligent of the trio, and while that is true from a relative perspective, he's still very prone to daftness and incompetency.

    Scissors
Voiced by: Carlos Alazraqui
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rps_scissors.png
A humanoid pair of scissors who dresses like a greaser and presents himself to the world as a tough guy. His "bad boy" persona and self-centered attitude is pretty much a coverup for his many insecurities, especially since he does not have a life goal like Rock and Paper do.
  • Be as Unhelpful as Possible: He made a vow as a kid to never help anyone with anything after doing so caused him to lose his chance for ice cream. Most of his Mental World is in agreement, save for the few nicer parts.
Nice Scissors: (In regards to whether real-world Scissors should help Rock and Paper bring in groceries) I think maybe this time... we could help!
Scissors #1: Are you out of your mind!?
Scissors #2: But how does it benefit us!?
Scissors #3: They bought the groceries; they should bring them in!
Nice Scissors: I don’t see what the big deal is! It’s just putting away some groceries!
Scissors #1: Oh, sure! First, you’re putting away groceries. Next, you’re donating a kidney!
  • Brilliant, but Lazy: He's shown to actually be pretty smart with a few hidden talents, but most of the time he's too unmotivated and/or immature to put in any real effort unless it benefits him in some way.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Isn't very successful at attracting women.
  • The Charmer: Is good at manipulating to get his own way.
  • Con Artist: If his subscription to Scammin' the Elderly Magazine is any indication.
  • Expressive Mask: Wears expressive sunglasses.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Is often a jerk, but is against sending glitter bombs in the mail.
  • Eye Glasses: Wears expressive sunglasses.
  • Fearless Fool: He's always forcing Paper and Rock into dangerous situations.
  • Frivolous Lawsuit: One of Scissors' main sources of income is through fraudulent lawsuits that he usually manages to win every time. He even makes and wins ones against his own lawyer and the judge.
Scissors: (falls down clutching his arm after sticking it out to get lightly tapped by a bus) Ow! My arm or something!
  • Hidden Depths:
    • He's often a jerk, has a big ego, and desperately wants to be cool. But deep down, he's emotionally insecure and wears sunglasses so no one can see him cry.
    • He's an expert bowler, if only so he can exploit the bowling alley's promotion of offering free games and curly fries if you get a perfect score. According to the owner, he hasn’t paid for a game in over two years and is driving the place out of business because of it.
  • Inferiority Superiority Complex: He's often a jerk, has a big ego, and desperately wants to be seen as cool, but he does this to cover up his emotional insecurities and wears sunglasses so no one can see him cry.
  • It's All About Me: Is selfish and can be egotistical at times.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He's often a jerk with an ego problem, but he's shown to be caring towards Rock and Paper.
  • Lovable Rogue: Is a bad boy, but has a charming personality keeps him likeable.
  • Manchild: Paper once refers to him as being an "insecure child".
  • Manly Tears: He wears sunglasses so no one can see him cry.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Often manipulates to get his own way.
  • Mr. Vice Guy: Is a bad boy, a jerk, has an enormous ego, and is selfish and manipulative, but he truly cares about Rock and Paper.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The Manly Man to both Rock and Paper's Sensitive Guy.
  • Too Dumb to Live: He once had the idea to tint a car's windows on both the outside and the inside, leading to him crashing into a building at high speed from being unable to see where he's driving. However, he survives.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: Has been this to Rock and to a lesser extent Paper on more than one occasion, talking them into bad and/or dangerous ideas that pan out horribly for them.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: One offhand comment implies Scissors to have a troubled relationship with his father.

Supporting Characters

    Pencil

A female anthropomorphic pencil who lives down the hall from the main trio. Paper has a massive crush on her, but due to the fact she is much smarter than him, he frequently lies about his genius in an effort to impress her.

    Lou
Voiced by: Eddie Pepitone

An anthropomorphic trash can who is the landlord of the main trio and Pencil. He is an ill-tempered and unsophisticated slob who will find any excuse to increase his tenants' rent.

    The Rat Bros
All of them voiced by: Ray Chase

A group of four cocky and party-loving anthropomorphic rats who live upstairs directly above Rock, Paper, and Scissors.
