Luz's Mindscape

    In General
"As for where you are, you are within a dimensional space known as The Vestige World. A construct created by the Quirk known as All For One."
All For One to Julia.

A mysterious realm that exists as Luz's mindscape. Its where All For One resides and she can be brought here anytime he wants when she falls asleep.
  • Afterlife Antechamber: This place is it for Shigaraki, who appeared here after All Might killed him.
  • And I Must Scream: All For One almost says this word for word to describe the incomplete Quirk vestiges trapped in Luz's Mental World.
  • Astral Checkerboard Decor: After Luz's Quirk Awakening, the ground of the Vestige World becomes this.
  • Home Base: The Quirk hosts a dark dimension within itself where Luz can meet the previous user of All For One. So far, she has yet to learn how to willingly enter the dimension, only Shigaraki can bring her there when she falls a sleep. The mindscape resembles an incomplete room floating in the darkness, with her predecessor sitting on a red leather chair with another for Luz to sit on next to a fireplace surrounded by the vestiges of the Quirks Luz stole in steel cages.
  • Many Spirits Inside of One: A side-effect of her stealing Quirks is that Luz inherits black, human-like shaped vestiges of their personalities. When Luz gives that Quirk to someone else, she loses those traits as well. They are incomplete when the person who Luz took the Quirk from is still alive. She's creeped out by them especially when they start moaning in pain as it reminds her of people she killed.
  • Mental World: Shigaraki resides in Luz's after his death in his own world. Luz is not at all happy to have the spirit of a Card-Carrying Villain in her head that can drag her here anytime she falls asleep. It resembles a black void with two chairs, a red carpet, a fireplace and cages contains the vestiges of the Quirks Luz has taken (which resemble shadowy blobs). After Luz's "Quirk Awakening" it transforms, resembling a more regal throne room with a firepit much to All For One's delight.
  • Prison Dimension: Shigaraki notes this is pretty much this to him, as he can't leave it or directly interact with the physical world, yet.
  • Purgatory and Limbo: Again, this applies to Rikitasu Shigaraki, as well as Julia.
  • Shout-Out: All For One notes in chapter 16 the incomplete Quirk vestiges in the mindscape had no mouth, and could not scream.
  • Transferable Memory: The metaphysical realm of All For One is not an afterlife - the actual Quirk wielders are dead. The Vestiges are something between a copy and a memory, more of an interactive user interface rather than a stored soul.
  • Year Outside, Hour Inside: Downplayed. In Luz's dreamscape, 5 minutes here, is about 50 minutes out in the real world.

"W- Who are you? W- Where am I?"

Debut: Chapter 2/ Episode 2: The "Not-So-Dull" Summer Camp - Part 1

Quirk/ Superpower: Vines (Formerly)

A formal and devoutly religious member of The Alpha Squadron, daughter of Tyler Wittebane and the first friend that Luz ever made. She was murdered by Darlene in the Death Camp arranged by Governor Maxwell and her father and returns as a vestige in Luz's mind not long after she took back her Quirk and awaken her own Quirk.

Her Quirk was called "Vines", and allowed her to grow long, thorny vines from her hands that she could extend and control at will.

One For All's Torch Bearers

    In General

Debut: Chapter 8/ Episode 8: Search and Steal - Part 2

Component Quirks: Quirk Bestowal (Yoichi Shigaraki), Stockpile (All For One's Stolen Quirk)

A unique Quirk that's been passed on for many generations. It was created around the time Quirks first surfaced and All For One decided to forcefully implant the "Stockpile" Quirk to his Quirkless younger brother. However, it turned out he did possess a Quirk of his own, Quirk Bestowal, a seemingly useless Quirk that allowed him to pass his Quirks onto others. The two Quirks fused together to create "One For All", a Quirk that grows stronger as it gets passed down.

  • Fling a Light into the Future: All the wielders fought and died to All For One develop and pass on a power that might someday grow enough to defeat the villain once and for all. It took 7 transfers and over a century for One For All to become powerful enough to achieve this goal with All Might.
  • The Immune: They're the only ones who can fight All For One because One For All can't be forcibly stolen, due to the mechanics behind both its passing and the users' willpower resisting it. All For One believes that he can bypass that rule and steal the Quirk through brute force, and was so invested so much in Tomura Shigaraki for that purpose. Now, he intends to do this through Luz via The Power of Hate and her awakened All For One Quirk.
  • Legacy of the Chosen: Each one was chosen by the previous wielder to fight All For One.
  • Posthumous Character: They're all by the time the story begins.
  • Super-Strength: All of them had this power, each one stronger than their predecessor.
  • Superior Successor: Due to One for All's Stronger with Age mechanism, each of them was this to their predecessor. The Quirk's power isn't the only thing that improves, as its ability to allow multiple souls to exist in one body developed as well.

The First Wielder - Yoichi Shigaraki (MAJOR SPOILERS)

Yoichi Shigaraki

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yoichi_talks_to_izuku.png
"Brother! For the last time, I will not aid you in this… in this massacre!"

Debut: Chapter 8/ Episode 8: Search and Steal - Part 2

Quirk/Meta-Ability: One For All note  (Formerly)

"'I’ve known, since the very beginning, that deep down there is a spark of good in you. It’s just buried deep within that hateful soul of yours. I know you’re better than this, Brother. We can both be better than this."

The first wielder of "One For All", and the younger twin brother of All For One who had a strong sense of justice.

Because his Quirk was completely unnoticed, Yoichi was thought to be Quirkless and could only watch his brother commit atrocities one after the other. Eventually, in a twisted showcase of affection, his brother decided to forcefully give him a Quirk, forming "One For All". Yoichi was able to pass his Quirk down to successors hoping one day it will grow powerful enough to defeat his evil brother.

  • Ambiguous Situation: While its certain his vestige inhabits Izuku's Mental World, its also possible his spirit resides in Amity's head, too. In chapter 28, it's cormfirmed that he's the only One For All vestige that can, due to to being the original wielder.
  • Born Unlucky: Yoichi's life was not great. With nobody except his heinous supervillain brother to raise him (which to his credit did genuinely love and took care of him the best he could), and lived in squalor throughout his childhood. In his adulthood, he found out he and Rikitasu were Child by Rape and witnessed his big brother murder their birth father despite his protests. All For One revealed his desire to take over the world and eventually forcing a Quirk upon him in the aim of making him join him. After he was rescued, he ended up dying from an infection anyway, which his brother feared he would due to his weak immune system, albeit having passed One For All on and starting a chain that would hopefully defeat his brother one day.
  • Cain and Abel: He's the Abel to his brother, the villainous All For One.
  • Child by Rape: Yoichi was not happy to learn that he and his brother were a result of this.
  • Delicate and Sickly: He was born this and didn't get much better in adulthood even with weights training. With Yoichi's hemophilia, Rikitatsu feared his little brother would die not long without him, which eventually came true in this story.
  • Determinator: Despite being physically weak, Yoichi continued to oppose his extremely powerful supervillain brother to the bitter end.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: In the manga All For One killed his own brother a case of If I Can't Have You… no one can 2 months after his escape. Here Yoichi died of natural causes not long after running away due to his failing immune system.
  • Disappeared Dad: His father was never around for him or his brother, and likely didn't know they existed until the two tracked him down when became full-grown men in their mid-20s.
  • Disappointed in You.
    • Subverted. His frown at witnessing Amity accidently killing her opponent wasn't out of disappointment, but out of concern for the girl's wellbeing.
    • Played Straight with Rikitasu. He expresses his great dismay to his brother on how he squandered his own Quirk and his potential to be a good person. All For One had such a great capacity to do good with his power, and instead chose to inflict suffering by taking everything he could get his hands on for himself and Yoichi. He flat out told All For One that countless lives could have been saved if he chose to be a force for good.
  • Doom Magnet: Thanks to his psychopathic brother's obsession with him, being the only other being on the planet he can love in any capacity besides himself, anything related to Yoichi became this.
  • Due to the Dead: Averted. He along with his Evil Twin brother left their father's corpse in an alleyway where Rikitatsu murdered and robbed him.
  • Everyone Has Standards: While he wanted to give his deadbeat dad an ass-kicking for what did to their family, he was not in board with his brother plan to just straight up murder the man.
  • Even Evil Can Be Loved: Yoichi is likely the only person in the entire world to have any real love for his brother All For One, even if he's accepted him as Beyond Redemption and needed to be stopped.
  • Flashback: Yoichi presents one to Luz thanks to All For One to show his backstory, as well as the chain of events that led to One For All's creation.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Despite being disturbed by his brother killing him, he admits if it wasn't his weak body he'd join Rikitatsu in giving their father a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown for what he did to their birth mother.
  • Greater-Scope Paragon: Yoichi was the one that started the line of the One for All torchbearers, and passed the Quirk down when it became obvious he was not strong enough to stop his brother even if he wasn't dying from a sickness.
  • Hates Their Parent: Not to the same level as Rikitasu, but he admitted he would have given his father a trashing for the suffering he caused his mother, brother and himself.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: On its own, Yoichi's Quirk Bestowal was basically useless, only giving him the ability to pass his Quirk on to another. However, once combined with the "Stockpile" Quirk, it allowed generations of strength to be continuously passed on from one user to another.
  • Heroic Bastard: His mother was a sex worker who died giving birth to him and his Evil Twin.
  • Magical Homeless Person: Yoichi spent most of his childhood living on the streets with his big brother until Rikitasu was old enough to get a job and could buy them a house. Although, he had no idea he even had a Quirk until near the end of his life.
  • Morality Pet: Downplayed. He was the closest All For One had to caring about someone else. Unfortunately, he wasn't a Morality Chain to him, too.
  • Not Quite Dead: Generations after his death, Yoichi's soul was dormant within One For All and is woken up by Amity.
  • Parental Abandonment: Yoichi was left alone with his big brother to take care of him on streets of Japan by themselves by their biological father after their mother died giving birth to them.
  • Polar Opposite Twins: Yoichi and All For One are twin brothers, and it's made clear that they couldn't be more different. Yoichi is kind, noble, and brave despite his frail constitution and possessing One For All when it was at its weakest. All For One, by contrast, is a callous, vain, and narcissist who strives to enhance his and, later, Shigaraki and Luz's bodies in order to become invincible. He also held the most versatile and dangerous Quirk in the story that proves a significant problem even a hundred years after Quirks first came to be and after he died as Luz inherited it along with his spirit.
  • Psychic Link: He's developing one with Amity: a One For All user not part of the original chain.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Literally. Yoichi did have a Quirk; the power to bestow a Quirk to others, except he needed another Quirk in the first place to pass on. Once All For One gave him a Stockpile Quirk to try to make him more obedient, this enabled him to use his own Quirk.
  • Spirit Adviser: He plans to act as this for Amity.
  • Super-Empowering: Yoichi's initial Quirk allowed him to transfer his abilities and his consciousness to another person via DNA.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Yoichi's Last Words to his brother was that there was some good in him and that he only needed to act on it.
Yoichi: I’ve known, since the very beginning, that deep down there is a spark of good in you. It’s just buried deep within that hateful soul of yours. I know you’re better than this, Brother. We can both be better than this. So please, stop this! Stop doing what you’re doing. Stop hurting people, and help out! Don’t be cruel to the world just because it was cruel to us!
  • You Could Have Used Your Powers for Good!: All For One recalls the time when his younger twin brother that could be better than a wannabe villain by using his Quirk to help to genuinely help other people instead of hurting them. It was a bunch of nonsense to the Evil Twin.

The Second Wielder - Kudo Bakugo

Kudo Bakugou

Debut:

Quirk/Meta-Ability: Gearshift, One For All (Formerly)

Yoichi's successor. He was once a leader of a rebel group that opposed All For One in his early villain days. He and his comrade, the third user, rescued Yoichi from his captivity.

His Quirk is Gearshift, which lets him increase a target's speed up to four stages, all while making it ignore the laws of inertia to do so.

  • Named by the Adaptation: The second One For All user is given the last name Bakugo.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: He led the résistance and broke Yoichi out of All For One's captivity. However, Yoichi didn't live long afterwards, because of compromised immune system causing his body to be unable to clot blood, which was why the villain kept him there in the first place.
  • Rebel Leader: He was the initial leader of La Résistance dedicated to All For One's downfall and initially came across an imprisoned Yoichi during a raid on the villain's headquarters.
  • Related in the Adaptation: To explain his strikingly similar appearance to Katsuki, it's implied that the two are related as ancestor and descendant.
  • Super-Speed: His Quirk, Gearshift, enables the user to alter the speed of whatever they're touching by several levels (like the gears akin to a car), such as using it on himself to travel faster and objects into dangerous projectiles.

The Third Wielder - Atsushi Kinokage

Atsushi Kinokage

Debut:

Quirk/Meta-Ability: Fa Jin, One For All (Formerly)

Shinomori's predecessor. He was a comrade of Kudo and they saved Yoichi from All For One's clutches.

His Quirk is Fa Jin, which stores up kinetic energy through repeated motions before releasing it in bursts.

  • Charged Attack: His Quirk, Fa Jin, stores and releases kinetic energy in different parts of the body, which can be used for attack via directly striking a foe or defense by using the burst as a movement boost.
  • Named by Adaptation: The third One For All user is given the full name Atsushi Kinokage instead of Bruce.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: His rescue of Yoichi led to his death.
  • Number Two: He was this to Kudo, being both his successor and his only companion during the rescue of Yoichi from Akll For One's imprisonment.

The Fourth Wielder - Hikage Shinomori

Hikage Shinomori

Debut:

Quirk: Danger Sense, One For All (Formerly)

The fourth wielder of "One For All" and the longest to hold it until All Might was granted it. Shinomori cultivated One For All for eighteen years before dying at the age of 40, although he transferred it to Lariat before his demise of old age.

His original Quirk, "Danger Sense" that gives him the ability to sense when his or a nearby person's life is in imminent danger.

  • Spider-Sense: His Quirk, Danger Sense, warns him if he or someone else's life is in imminent danger. The sensation is painful and numbs the other senses. This was how he was able to avoid All For One.

The Fifth Wielder - Daigoro Banjo

Daigoro Banjo - Lariat

Debut:

Quirk: Blackwhip, One For All (Formerly)

The fifth wielder of "One For All", a past hero from the past known as in his time. He's kinda on the aggressive side, though.

His original Quirk, "Blackwhip", could create dark tendrils for restraining and movement purposes.

  • Combat Tentacles: His Quirk, Blackwhip, lets him manipulate tendrils of darkness from his body to grab his enemies and maneuver mid-air.

The Sixth Wielder - En Tayutai

En Tayutai - Smoke-Eater

Debut:

Quirk: Smokescreen, One For All (Formerly)

The sixth wielder of "One For All", and Daigoro's colleague. He dresses with an extremely high collar.

His original Quirk, "Smokescreen", that produces thick smoke layers.

  • Smoke Out: His Quirk produces a green smog that obscures the vision. It works for sneaking around.

The Seventh Wielder - Nana Shimura

Nana Shimura

Debut:

Quirk: Float, One For All (Formerly)

She's All Might's teacher, Tomura's grandmother and the seventh wielder of One For All. Nana died decades ago in battle against All For One, but not before passing her Quirk to All Might first.

She also possessed the Quirk "Float," which allows her to maintain her elevation in the air at will without falling.

Eda's Mindscape

    The Owl Beast (MAJOR SPOILERS)

The Owl Beast

Debut:

Quirk/Gift: Quirkless

A mysterious owl-like monster that appears in Eda's mind every time she transforms into her Cursed Form, often taking over her body. It was initially assumed to just be the manifestation of the curse, but its actually a separate entity before being trapped in a scroll and unwittingly sealed inside Eda by Lilith.

  • Demonic Possession: For most of her life, it attempted to take over its host, Eda, causing her to transform into a monster similar to itself. However, she's learning how to control it.
  • Ominous Owl: As its namesake, the Owl Beast is a quadrupedal griffin-like demon with large bird wings, a head resembling a barn owl's, a Jagged Mouth with a beak on its upper jaw, and solid black eyes.
  • One-Winged Angel: Its this to Eda since during the 10-year war with All For One. However, she's yet to fully control it.
  • Super-Empowering: Sometimes the Owl Beast would attempt to take over Eda's body, transforming her into a demon resembling itself with a monstrous version of her own face. In the rare instances during the Ten-Year War, where Eda was able to regain control of her body, she was able to use her demonic form's claws, fangs, wings, and immense strength to her advantage. Even in her human form, it grants its host a Healing Factor to stop her from dying.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Eda still sees it as this but believes she can train to control it.
  • Transformation of the Possessed: When Eda's curse acts up, she transforms into a 4-legged winged monster closely resembling her inner demon, while keeping her regular face, and the Owl Beast takes over her body, often rampaging and attacking everything it comes across. Occasionally, Eda can take back control.
