Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

So apparently we're supposed to request redirects on the Main namespace in this thread now? Trying to edit a page in Main that doesn't exist yet kicks you to YKTTW, so I checked Redirects Are Free, which lead me to Creating New Redirects, which has a link to this thread.

I wanted to add Initial Equipment as a redirect to Starter Equipment, as I'd searched for the former before and found nothing, and just happened to stumble across Starter Equipment today.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

Nobody is exempt from the Main/ block right now. You need to create a (broken) redirect on a random page (e.g Sandbox.Initial Equipment) then ping a moderator to use a command to move the broken redirect into Main/ and activate it.

A private query #39174 (https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/query.php?type=wl&status=all&sort=date_desc&page=3#39174) to exempt moderators is pending in Wishlist, right now the admins are focusing on Bugs but maybe I can get ~drewski to fast-track this one.

We're in the heart of the 2016 election cycle and Antonin Scalia has just passed away, which means things in American politics are changing very fast. American Political System has been locked for a few years (on FE's direction for being "complete", whatever that means), but with the current situation in so much flux, I think it's past time the page be unlocked. I'll keep an eye on it and squash anything obviously biased like a bug, of course, but I'd like to be able to edit it to reflect current events as needed.

The rationale given in the locked pages report is "Preventing further bloat".

At X-Men, for Apocalypse, please replace the current entry with this (spelling issues):

  • Apocalypse: An Ancient Egyptian who gained his powers from Celestial technology, En Sabah Nur ("The First One"), better known as Apocalypse, is one of the oldest, and one of the most evil, mutants in existence. Believing that the strong must dominate the weak, Apocalypse aims to test humanity. Those who survive the process will be allowed to live as his servants, those who fail, die. Apocalypse has a history of granting powers to other unscrupulous individuals, transforming Nathaniel Essex into the mad geneticist Mister Sinister (in exchange for Sinister agreeing to unleash a plague that would exterminate most of humanity), and empowering terrorist leader Moses Magnum, in exchange for the latter winnowing out the strong from the weak. His other crimes include, infecting the infant Cable with a techno-organic virus, turning Cable's clone, Stryfe, into the monster he is today; trying to force humanity to reduce its own population by ninety percent or face the wrath of another meta-plague; and effectively killing Stryfe by bodyjacking him. That's without getting into the Bad Future, where he rules most of the world and has effectively run it into the ground, or the Age of Apocalypse timeline, where he devastated North America with nuclear weapons, reduced the human population by purges, and gave free reign to like-minded psychopaths Sinister, Holocaust, and Mikhail Rasputin, effectively destroying civilization. Believing wholeheartedly that those he considers weak must be slain, Apocalypse is well-deserving of his name.

[up][up]...which affects how rapidly facts are changing exactly how?

I'm genuinely not trying to be snarky here. I'll keep an eye on the page and phone a mod if things are added (as opposed to changed to reflect current events), but things are in flux and running every single proposed change through this thread would take up unnecessary time, especially since the page doesn't seem to be particularly prone to Flame Bait.

And slight rewrites to the Supernatural tree at Live-Action TV:

  • Supernatural: Many villains come very close to this trope. After all, they are, for the most part, monsters, and that's what they do. Here are those who go the extra mile:
    • Lilith from seasons 2 through 5 is the oldest demon in existence, and one of the worst. She massacres a police station, killing everyone that Sam and Dean had just finished saving, uses her position as the holder of Bela's contract to try and force her to kill Sam, and keeps a personal chef on hand to prepare human infants for her to eat. Lilith also has a thing for possessing little girls, destroying their families from the inside out for her own personal amusement. In the season three finale, she holds a family hostage, killing the grandfather for making her mad, and has Dean dragged off to Hell, laughing the entire time. Reappearing in Season 4, Lilith reveals that her current plan is to free Lucifer, bringing about The End of the World as We Know It. When she discovers that freeing Lucifer will ensure her death, she tries to back out, offering to put off the apocalypse if Sam and Dean will let her kill them. Defeated by Sam in the Season 4 finale, Lilith goads him into finishing her, knowing that her death will result in the deaths of all humanity.
    • Alastair from season 4 is Hell's "Grand Inquisitor downstairs", and is responsible for supervising the torture of newly-arrived souls. When Dean arrives in Hell, Alastair tortures him for thirty years, offering to stop if Dean will accept his offer and torment other souls on Alastair's behalf. When Dean accepts, one of the seals imprisoning Lucifer is broken, a fact that Alastair frequently taunts Dean about during their subsequent encounters. During the hunt for Anna Milton, Alastair captures Ruby and begins cutting pieces away from her with her own knife, before trying to overpower and murder Castiel. He murders several Reapers later in the series, and does his best to kill Sam and Dean and banish Castiel, before being finally put out of commission. An utterly sadistic bully, Alastair is one of the worst demons in the series.
    • The leader of the Leviathans from season 7, commonly known by the assumed name Dick Roman, not content with simply lurking in the shadows to feed on humanity, planted his minions in key positions, murdering and devouring every human in the way. Taking control of a major company, Roman began to place chemicals in corn syrup so humanity would be rendered helpless as cattle for the Leviathans to feed on. The Winchesters, who he knew could prove an issue, he framed for a nation-wide killing spree. Other monster species were seen as "competition," with Roman planning to exterminate them as well after manipulating them into helping him. A Bad Boss even by the show's standards, Roman was known to devour his minions in a fit of rage or "bib" them: forcing them to devour themselves. Few villains on Supernatural have managed to inspire the same fear or hatred as Roman did, and his killing of Bobby Singer only deepened the hatred the Winchester brothers had for him.
    • Abaddon from seasons 8 and 9 was one of the Knights of Hell, demons handpicked by Lucifer to be his strongest and most evil enforcers. She was trained by Cain, the original Knight, but when he fell in love with the human Colette he grew tired of his evil ways and atoned for his crimes. Abaddon tricked Cain into murdering Colette with the First Blade to spite him for choosing a human over her, earning his undying hatred. After millennia of rampaging across the Earth under Hell's banner, she kills a priest in 1958 who was investigating a demon cure before possessing Josie Sands instead of her companion Henry Winchester to infiltrate the Men of Letters. Abaddon notes how Josie is secretly in love with Henry and takes her as a vessel solely to hurt them both. She wipes out the Men of Letters completely in a massacre before traveling into the future where she kills Henry anyway after going back on a deal she made with Sam and Dean. After learning that Hell has been brought under the command of the more pragmatic Crowley in her absence, she sets out to remove him from his position to become Queen of Hell and start a new blood-filled reign of terror on Earth, with torture, murder, and baby-eating in abundance for all her minions. After Crowley regains his human emotions, she kidnaps his son Gavin from 1723 and proceeds to torture him in front of his father. He caves in to her demands and helps her to defeat the Winchesters, but then she decides to kill both Crowley and Gavin anyway.

Better late than never.

Place this in ThatOneBoss.Pokemon, under the Sabrina entry.

  • Lance in Yellow. All of his Pokémon have been given upgrades to their Red and Blue movesets, making them much more threatening due to the wider range of moves. His Dragonite in particular has the strongest Fire-, Ice-, Electric-type moves available backed by its high stats to ensure that the player has a hard time trying to take it down.

Can someone add, on Zero Punctuation:

  • cricri3007: I want to add his Call of Duty: Black Ops III review to the list for not mentioning you can play as a female Player Character. When a part of the marketing was built around finally playing as a woman in a Call Of Duty game, he should have at the very least mentioned it as a possibility, even if just for complaining about some of the issues with the female PC writing. Doubly so since he talked about the Nightmare mode (playable only with a female PC) but didn't said a word about it. That little thing made me lose all respect I had for him as a professional critic.

[up] Leaving aside the fact that I'm not sure new entries for that page are being accepted, that entry has numerous spelling and grammar errors. (Although if new entries are indeed still being accepted for that page, perhaps DMoS isn't held to the same spelling and grammar standards as the rest of the wiki?)

A quick question: the new functionality that Main/ articles need to go through YKTTW before being launched is surely useful to prevent clueless editors from putting work pages in Main/ or creating useless redirects, but it has a tiny drawback:

When there is a ghost wick or ghost redirect (like a ptitle) in Main/, now we cannot simply recreate the page just to cutlist it and exorcise... ahem... get rid of the ghost.

So, is it okay to ask on this thread for those ghost wicks to be taken care off?

Please replace Vitoria's writeup at Batman with this:

  • Red Robin: Vitoria, alias The Wanderer, was born in Brazil. As a young girl, she was abused by the men in the village. One day, while running from the men, she fell into a pit of venomous spiders. However, instead of dying, she gained the power to kill with a touch. After killing the men—which was justified—Vitoria murdered her mother, then went on a killing spree across South America, slaughtering people at random. When she grew bored with this, she recruited a band of likeminded Psychos For Hire, which she names the Council of Spiders, and attacked the League of Assassins for sport, butchering dozens of its members in the process, and caring not a whit for any innocents who got in the way. Buried Alive after her plot failed, Vitoria killed the man who rescued her, before announcing her intention of moving on from targeting assassins to targeting heroes.

Please edit Maax's entry with this.

  • The Beastmaster: Maax was the High Priest of Aruk prior to being banished by King Zed, who learned Maax was planning to sacrifice Zed's unborn son. In retaliation, Maax ordered his witch servants to magically extract the infant from his mother's womb and kill him anyways. The infant, Dar, only survives because local villagers rescued him. Years later, Maax led the Juns in conquering Aruk, blinding and imprisoning Zed. Maax presides over brutal oppression of the kingdom, regularly sacrificing children to his god, Ar. He wipes out Dar's village, leading him into conflict with Dar himself. When Dar enters Maax's prison to free Zed, he discovers that Maax has innocent people tortured and transformed into mindless beasts to serve as his guards. Maax later attempts to have Zed, his young son, and his cousin Kiri sacrificed to Ar. He then taunts Zed by revealing Dar is his son before killing him.
