Trivia tropes

  • Acting for Two:
    • Masato Tsutamune pulls sextuple duty as Da·Paan, Shirowe, PunkJack, the Saboten Knight Jyamato, Nadge-Sparrow's, and the Marrella Jyamato's suit actor. Justified with the first three, given that they're Palette Swaps of each other.
      • In fact, even Nadge-Sparrow is justified because with Lopo, he's just like Keilow with Letter: a new pair of Riders introduced in a new arc, after proof of the incompatibility of the previous Riders who have lost (Shirowe, Mary, Da·Paan).
    • Takuma Komori is the suit actor for Mary, Glare, the Kakurenbo Bishop Jyamato, Seeker, and Gazer.
    • Danki Sakae is suit actor for Ginpen, Ziin, and Brali.
    • Yuki Miyazawa is the suit actress for Na-Go and Beroba!Glare2.
    • Takahiro Yoneoka is the suit actor for Chirami!Glare2, the Knight Jyamato mimicking Toru Imai, and Cross Geats.
    • Mutsumi Igarashi is suit actress for Letter, Hakubi, and Premium Beroba, the first two sharing a helm design.
    • #38 has Hideyoshi Kan play both Ace and his inner self, with Yuji Nakata serving as stunt double for both.
    • Yuya Nawata is suit actor for Buffa and Gya-Go.
    • Kokoro Aoshima plays both Tsumuri and her clone.
  • Actor-Inspired Element:
    • Michinaga was originally written to be an overtly scary and intimidating thug with an appropriate appearance. This changed with the casting of Kazuto Mokudai, leading to Takahashi rewriting him to be a quieter, more subtly threatening character, as well as lowering his age from 23 to 21.
    • Keiwa’s Transformation pose was choreographed by his actor Ryuga Sato himself, who is a long-time Kamen Rider fan and used past Riders as inspiration. He also boasts that he perfected a 0.45-second long version of the pose, nicknamed the “Normal Full MAX Version” by Mokudai.
  • Actor-Shared Background:
    • Neon's actress Yuna Hoshino is a popular social media figure like she is.
    • Rina Onuki has been a professional basketball player for 11 years, sharing her character Sae's athletic background.
  • Cast the Expert: The movie-exclusive Kaima Todoroki/Kamen Rider Seeker is a retired professional boxer. His actor, Yusuke Onuki, was cast due to his performance in the Fist of the North Star musical.
  • Content Leak: Streaming sites had accidentally uploaded #34 instead of #33, resulting in the new episode being out a week in advance.
  • Cowboy BeBop at His Computer: An earlier leak had stated that Kaima Todoroki/Kamen Rider Seeker from the team-up film with Revice and Ryuki would return and use the Fantasy Buckle. This would be proven to be blatantly false, though in hindsight, the user of the buckle, Kousei Kurama/Kamen Rider Gya-Go, does use a retooled version of Seeker's helmet in his Rider form.
  • Creator Couple: Koda Kumi, the main singer of the series' opening "Trust・Last", is married to the song's composer Hi-yunk.
  • The Danza: Eitoku portraying Kazunori Nagayama/Groovy from #33; Nagayama's full name in kanji is 永山 一徳, which contains the characters for Eitoku (永徳) being read a different way.
  • Defictionalization: The DGP hoodie-type jackets are sold by Bandai online along with other competitor uniform garments and a full cosplay outfit for Tsumuri.
  • Digital Destruction: Starting with episode 20, TTFC’s encodes of the episodes use a different software that results in the picture becoming distorted if it gets ripped from the site. As a result, the majority of the fansubs for this series have stopped using it, switching to other sources.
  • Follow the Leader: the Vision and Zillion Drivers have a similar role and function to the Demons and Vail Drivers from the previous series, in that they are powerful Drivers used by the villain Riders, with LED screens forming images (even if the Demons Driver was originally used by an heroic Rider). This will also be repeated by the the Dreadriver.
  • God Never Said That: Many fans and fan websites have referred to Buffa's Jyamashin!FeverZombie Form as "Buffa Musou", presumably due to the title of its debut episode. Officially, the form is still called FeverZombie.
  • Inspiration for the Work:
    • The development team cites Fortnite and Apex Legends as major influences.
    • In an interview with Figure King, head writer Yuya Takahashi states that Squid Game and Kaiji were his main inspirations when writing Geats, both being stories about a Deadly Game where people stake their lives in the name of a grand prize.
    • Kazuto Mokudai watched Kamen Rider Ex-Aid in preparation for his role as Michinaga/Buffa; particularly, he took notes from Genm, another zombie-themed Rider.
  • Irony as She Is Cast:
    • Yuna Hoshino, who portrays Neon/the cat-themed Kamen Rider Na-Go, and was additionally shown in a cat café at the end of #1, is actually allergic to cats.
    • Tsubasa Sakiyama, an established musician with an Avex contract, plays Win Hareruya, a Jaded Washout who never got his career off the ground.
    • This is the third time in the franchise veteran suit actor Eitoku is given a non-suit role as a hopelessly-outclassed fighter (the first being his As Himself appearance in Super Hero Taihen and the second being Eifuku/a Battle Raider in Kamen Rider Zero-One.)
  • Life Imitates Art: The key flaw of the DGP supporters is that they are a Deconstruction of the Audience Surrogate, who all possess toxic and destructive habits around the Riders they rally behind due to the fact that they Cannot Tell Fiction from Reality. Ryuga Sato revealed after the airing of #42 that he has received death threats of a similar nature due to his performance as Keiwa, whose portrayal in the Genesis arc is a Hate Sink that is just as much in the wrong as the people who goaded him into being that way.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • Hikaru Okada substitutes for Suzuka Usami as Lopo's suit actress in #18, due to Usami being busy with #44 of Donbrothers at the time; Okada fully takes over from #19 onwards.
    • The Dunkleosteus Jyamato has gone through no less than four suit actors in succession: Yuya Nawata (#30), Takuma Komori (#31), Kai Kitamura (#32), and Danki Sakae (#35-#36).
    • Kenya Saito replaces Masashi Takada as Suel's physical and suit actor from #47-#49.
  • Promoted Fanboy:
    • In an interview with Yahoo Japan, Hideyoshi Kan (Ace) stated that he grew up watching Kamen Rider Den-O and Kamen Rider Kiva and that being a Kamen Rider was a dream for him. He also mentioned that his parents bought him a DX Henshin Belt that he practiced transformation poses with.
    • Yuna Hoshino (Neon) stated that she and her brother used to watch Kamen Rider as kids and they would often buy the toys. With that, she has said that she remembers watching Kamen Rider Kabuto the most.
    • Or "Further Promoted", in the case of Tom Constantine (Neon's bodyguard John);note  in Geats he plays a Recurring Character, while his previous roles were one-shot characters or cameos. On top of that, #14 reveals that John used to be a Rider himself.
    • Ryuga Sato (Keiwa) used to watch Kamen Rider Blade as a child.
    • As a child, Kazuto Mokudai was a fan of Kamen Rider W and Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, even owning a DX ShodoPhone.
    • Michael Kinder (Ben)'s first foray into tokusatsu was Kamen Rider BLACK.
  • Prop Recycling:
    • The prop team resorted to this early this year, as the Armed Weapons all came from Toei's previous tokusatsu works given monocolor paint jobs. Raise Hammer is Kamen Rider Gridon's Donkachi hammer, Raise Water was part of Kamen Rider Build's Firetruck armor (and given new gun and faucet handles), Raise Arrow is the crossbow once wielded by Kamen Rider Zamonas, Raise Shield is Kamen Rider Fourze's Shield Module, Raise Claw was part of Kamen Rider Valkyrie's Justice Serval form, Raise Chain Array is SD Wald's D Ball, Raise Drill is Kamen Rider Birth's Drill Arm, and Raise Propeller is Kamen Rider Build's Batrotor Blade.
    • Shirowe and PunkJack's helms are recycled from Da·Paan's.
    • The helms of the past DGP Riders who indirectly cause Tohru's death are reused from Kamen Rider Imperer's helm and the Elephant Amazons' head.
    • Keilow and Nadge-Sparrow's helms are recycled from Ginpen's.
    • Letter, Hakubi, Turbon and Brali's helms are recycled from Mary's.
    • The Gigant Sword is a modified ToQ-Oh's Railway Crossing Sword, the Gigant Hammer is Dyrandoh's mallet, and the Gigant Blaster is a combination of the ZECTroopers' Machinegun Blade and KishiRyuNeptune ShadowRaptor's Kurayami Gun.
    • This is averted with Kamen Rider Gazer; at first glance its suit appears to be recolored from Glare's, which would be justified as they both use the exact same driver. However, later episodes make it clear that Gazer is an entirely new suit made from the same mold.
      • Played straight with Glare2, which is simply the Glare suit with white glitch pixels around the suit.
    • The CGI for Beroba, Kekera and Kyuun’s Rider forms are respectively remodeled from Kamen Rider Zero-One Breaking Mammoth Form, Kurogane Oogama, and Beast Chimera. As such, they do not have motion capture actors, but are able to move with computers.
    • Buffa Ouja form reuses Ouja's chest armor.
    • Suel's mask is basically Colus's with an altered jawline.
    • Buffa's Jyamashin form retools the horns from Crushing Buffalo Raider’s and the cape from Calibur Jaou Dragon.
      • Though the horns are retools, they're not actually the original costume part, as is usually the case. They had to be remade due to structural integrity issues.
    • Groovy and Butchi's helms are remodeled from Lopo's.
    • Tycoon's Kamen Rider Shinobi form repaints Kamen Rider Woz's Futurering Shinobi form, the Zombie form mouthpiece, the armguards from the Ninja Players, the yellow eyes from the Armed, Fever and Boost forms, and the kunais are repainted from Kamen Rider Aguilera's Needle Kunai (themselves repainted from Kamen Rider Gaim Ichigo Arms's Ichigo Kunai).
    • Hattari Yami and Geronimo suits are retooled from Baridero and Izanagi.
    • Geats Boost MK III is a white and red repaint of the regular Boost form, with the exhaust pipes being Orleans switch white panels.
    • Geats IX reuses the Boost Form legs, painted white. Geats Buster is a retool of the Magnum Shooter with a blade.
    • Suel Gazer reuses the Gazer suit with red lines on the visor.
    • The chest armor of Tycoon's Bujin Sword form is his Command Form painted black, while the llegs are retooled from Ninja form legs, the forearm armor are from the Ninja Players, and a brand new cape and shoulders are added.
    • The summer movie Rider, XGeats, uses a recolored Geats IX helmet and cape but uses the torso and thigh armor of Kamen Rider Vulcan Lone Wolf and the forearm and calve armor of Kamen Rider Revi Volcano Rex Genome. His weapons are also recolors of the Geats Buster QB9 and the Raising Sword.
    • Keiwa's outfit post-#43 is reused from Hiryu Kakogawa's outfit from Zi-O's #41-43.
    • Gya-Go's helm is recycled from Seeker's, with Fantasy Form's chest and shoulder armor retooled from Brave Taddle Fantasy and the sleeves reused from Holy Live. The Fantasy Raise Buckle itself is a modified Ninja Raise Buckle.
    • Regad reuses the Vision Driver Riders' suit design, along with Kamen Rider Vulcan Lone Wolf's chest armor. The Zillion Driver and Sirius Card are also a retooled Vision Driver and Providence Card.
    • Buffa's Plosion Rage Form is a combination of reused parts:
      • his helmet reuses his Jyamashin form horns, recolored black, along with Command Form's visor and Ninja Form's mouth crusher.
      • his cape is directly resued from Jyamashin.
      • the shoulder armor is taken from Command Form.
      • the form reuses Monster Form's leg armor without the shoes.
      • the torso and forearm armor are taken from the Ninja Players, as well as Gamedeus' Deuslasher shield, with added chainsaw blades to evoke the Zombie Breaker and Berserclaw.
    • Dooms Geats is a recolor of the XGeats suit, giving a gold and black color scheme, and giving the eyes a red color. it also uses a golden Geats Buster.
    • In the Kamen Rider Geats final stage show, we get Kamen Rider Jyamato Gazer, which is a recolor of the Vision Driver suits, with green and white coloring, and vine symbols of the Jyamato.
    • In the Gazer special, we see Gazer Zero, which appears to be another repaint of the Glare and Glare2 suits but in the color of Sakurajima 1, complete with a red scarf. He also uses the Zillion Driver.
  • Real-Life Relative: Not within the show per se, but with its Super Hero Time counterpart in Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. Keiwa's sister Sara is played by Nene Shida, the real-life sister of Kohaku Shida (Haruka Kito).
  • Real Life Writes the Plot:
    • Despite gaining more focus beyond a normal DGP participant, Masato Tsutamune's role in King-Ohger caused Daichi to become Out of Focus and stop transforming into Nadge-Sparrow starting from #25.
    • Ziin being Put on a Bus at the end of #28 is attributed to Fuku Suzuki focusing on other projects.
    • Mitsume speaking to Ace through telepathy was a mix of avoiding Lip Lock and covering up that the actress had braces.
  • Role Reprise:
  • Spoiled by the Merchandise: The Desire Driver is the first primary driver since Kamen Rider Build to rely entirely on pins and/or rails for gimmick use while also storing almost all relevant sounds on the belt itself (sans those associated with upgrade forms.) As a result, toothpicks and jigs can be used to datamine all of the Armed Weapons, all of the Legend Rider Raise Buckles, and all of the larger Raise Buckles.
  • Throw It In!:
    • PunkJack swatting Morio back in #5 was an ad-lib, as was Morio's reaction. Some behind-the-scenes pictures show Tsutamune apologizing to Abe for this.
    • Michinaga accidentally tripping Keiwa while trying to chase Ace during the ending of 4 Aces and the Black Fox was not scripted, as revealed through a behind-the-scenes reel. Hideyoshi Kan and Ryuga Sato, for their part, spent no shortage of time ribbing Kazuto Mokudai for letting it happen.
  • Underage Casting:
    • In a quite extreme example, Hideyoshi Kan, who was 19 when the series first started airing, plays the over-2,000 year old Ace. This is explained in-series with the implication that Ace is The Ageless.
    • While Michinaga is 21 years old, Kazuto Mokudai was 18 when the series was airing.
    • Tasuku Maekawa was 16 when he played the 20-year old Tohru.
    • Another extreme example is Ayaka Namiki, who was 15, portraying Beroba, who is stated to be 350 years old in #28.
    • An even more extreme example is Mitsume, who is presumably older than the 2,000 year old Ace due to being his mother; Nana Isaki was 18 at the time of filming. Ironically for the characters they portray, she is younger than Ace's actor.
  • What Could Have Been:
  • Word of God:
    • According to the Kamen Rider Official blog post for #16, Geats has No Fourth Wall, with the "audience" mentioned at the end including the show's real viewership.
    • According to an interview with Yuya Takahashi, the only characters considered main Riders in Geats are Ace and Keiwa. Characters like Neon and Michinaga are part of the main cast, but their participation is secondary to their more general roles in the story.
  • Word of Saint Paul: According to Hideyoshi Kan, Ace’s previous incarnation Ace Lee lived in Elizabethan England and knew Shakespeare personally.

    • Tom Constantine (John) previously appeared as a gamer in #3 of Kamen Rider Zi-O and a resistance member in Kamen Rider: Reiwa the First Generation.

Other trivia

  • The Vision Driver users are the first Kamen Riders to lack an official unique symbol in a situation where they would normally be given one. The Legend Rider Ride Chemy Cards in Kamen Rider Gotchard reveal they use the DGP logo in place of unique assets.
