A member of a royal family of werewolves who are close friends with another royal werewolf family, the Labonair Family.
- Arranged Marriage: He would have been Hayley's husband if her family hadn't been slaughtered and displaced. They eventually do get married in 2.15, as part of a ritual to give the New Orleans wolves Hayley's hybrid ability to turn at will.
- Perfectly Arranged Marriage: He and Hayley eventually fall in love with each other.
- Bash Brothers: With Oliver.
- Did You Just Flip Off Cthulhu?: He's unafraid to stand up to the Originals and tell them exactly what he thinks of them: he despises them.
- Fantastic Racism: He absolutely despises vampires, and it's actually understandable considering Marcel cursed his entire tribe. Of course, the specifics are unclear about just how the feud began.
- Finger in the Mail: His heart is sent to the Mikaelsons as a warning from the Stryx, with the threat that Hayley's will follow.
- Friend to All Children: He says he's good with kids, and proves to be very attentive and caring towards Hope.
- Foil: He's actually this for Klaus himself. Klaus sees in Jackson the type of man he would have been if he'd been raised by his biological father, and is both threatened by and jealous of him. Tellingly, Ansel actually took Jackson in for several months and gave him long-forgotten wolf lore, something he could have shared with Klaus if he hadn't killed him.
- Killed Off for Real: His heart is ripped out by the Stryx after he and Hayley get captured.
- The Leader: The rightful alpha of the New Orleans pack.
- Nice Guy: One of the few unambiguously heroic characters in the show.
- We Used to Be Friends: With Oliver.
Oliver

A werewolf and a member of the Crescent Wolf Clan.
- Bash Brothers: With Jackson.
- Big Bad Wannabe: Oliver strives to become a powerful leader, but he's always second-best to someone else. He's served as Number Two to Jackson and The Dragon to Francesca Correa and Finn Mikaelson.
- The Charmer: With his good looks, Oliver can be very charming when he wants to be. It's what makes him such an effective Honey Trap for Rebekah.
- The Dragon: For a time, he was demoted to being this for Francesca Correa. He was very unhappy about it.
- Even Evil Has Standards: Oliver might be willing to kill without mercy, but he draws the line at recruiting teenagers to his cause.
- Fantastic Racism: Like the rest of his pack, Oliver hates vampires with a passion.
- Heel–Face Revolving Door: Oliver does change allegiance with some frequency, but he's mostly motivated by a desire to keep his pack strong.
- Honey Trap: He acts as one to trap Rebekah.
- Hunk: He's got the build, and plenty of Shirtless Scenes to show it off.
- I Did What I Had to Do: The reason he gives for bombing his own people, and killing Eve.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Oliver is aggressive and irritable toward Hayley, and refuses to make any kind of compromise. As of Season 2, Oliver has not only started to treat Hayley with respect, but he has also started to show a lot of selflessness when his pack is involved. For example, he was willing to perform a Heroic Sacrifice to save a group of young wolves from turning.
- Mr. Fanservice: Invoked, see Honey Trap above.
- Number Two: To Jackson, for a time.
- Redemption Equals Death: Oliver's attempts to redeem himself and protect the pack from Esther ultimately leads to his death at the hands of her spell.
- Shaming the Mob: He does this to the group of wolves ordered to kill him.
Aiden

Played By: Colin Woodell
A leader to the werewolves led by Esther Mikaelson and Finn Mikaelson, however, he was not fond of their actions. Aiden is also the boyfriend of Josh.
- A Death in the Limelight: He gets his first key role in the larger plot towards the end of the second season. He's violently killed by Dahlia before the end of the episode.
- Everyone Has Standards: Despite working with the wolves that are working for Esther, Aiden is horrified at the idea of turning children into soldiers.
- Hidden Heart of Gold: To his enemies, he can appear harsh and nasty, but he's actually a caring leader who's doing his best to protect his people.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Was this when leading the pack in Jackson's absense.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: With Josh; Aiden is a werewolf, Josh is a vampire. There's a deep enmity and distrust between wolves and vampires.
- Straight Gay: There are zero stereotypical homosexual mannerisms present in Aiden, and nothing to indicate that he's gay beyond the simple fact of it.

An untriggered werewolf banished by Marcel Gerard and who had been living in the Bayou. Eve was a member of the Labonair Family one of the royal werewolf bloodlines. As part of this family she was therefore also a member of the Crescent Wolf Clan.
- Nice Girl: Eve is kind, considerate and patient. She's also the only untriggered werewolf in her pack, meaning she's the only one who hasn't killed someone.
- Vorpal Pillow: How Oliver kills her.
- Token Human: She never triggered her gene and thus is this.

A tough, no-nonsense werewolf elder and Jackson's grandmother, who will do literally anything to ensure the safety of her pack.

- Nerves of Steel: She isn't afraid to stand up to Klaus Mikaelson: one must have these in order to do so.

North East Atlantic Pack

A werewolf, and a very distant relative of Ansel, Klaus' biological father and his family. He is currently a member of the North East Atlantic werewolf pack. This pack can be traced back to the beginning of werewolves. It is confirmed by Niklaus Mikaelson that he is a direct descendant from Klaus' father through one of his children, who survived Mikael's slaughterings against the werewolf family.
When the Mikaelsons first met Cary, he wore a ring around his neck; the ring belonged to Esther who gave it to Ansel. The ring had been spelt to permit Ansel to control when he changed into his wolf form and have full access to his powers moonlight ring. When Cary eventually met with Klaus, he asks Cary for information on the ring so to create multiple moonlight rings for the Crescents.

A werewolf and the former leader (Alpha) of the North East Atlantic Pack with whom Esther had an affair with and made for him the first Moonlight Ring. He is the biological father of Niklaus Mikaelson as well as at least one other child who's descendants sired Cary, the grandfather of Hope Mikaelson, he is also an ancestor of Cary.
- Back from the Dead: He and most of his pack were killed by Mikael after he found out about Esther's infidelity. She brings him back from The Other Side as it falls apart.
- Daddy Had a Good Reason for Abandoning You: According to Esther, she convinced Hansel to never claim Klaus as his own, because Mikael would have killed both her and her son for her infidelity.
- Foil: To Mikael.
- Good Parents: He clearly wants to bond with Klaus, having watched him suffer since he got turned.
- The Leader: He was the Alpha of his werewolf pack, and according to Esther was a wise and just leader.
- No One Gets Left Behind: While he's unimpressed with Oliver's betrayal of his pack, he refuses to leave a fellow wolf to be a captive of witches and helps Hayley rescue him.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: With Esther.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: Ansel is killed just one episode after his formal introduction.

"Please, boys. At least fight over something interesting. Me, perhaps?"
The owner of the Palace Royale casino, a dedicated philanthropist, the matriarch of a sizable drug trafficking empire throughout New Orleans, and actually a member of the formerly believed to be extinct Guerrera Werewolf Family.
- Ain't Too Proud to Beg: According to Hayley, she begged for her life.
- Bad Boss: She casually slashes an underling's throat without a thought to trigger her transformation.
- Big Bad Ensemble: Of the first season, along with Esther.
- The Chessmaster: She uses and discards her minions, and Oliver is just one of her pawns.
- Corrupt Corporate Executive: Of the Palace Royale casino.
- Deadpan Snarker: She has some of the best lines, even among such snarky characters, and isn't afraid to verbally hold her own against incredibly powerful creatures like Klaus and Elijah.
- Dirty Coward: In the gap between Season One and Two, Francesca has become reclusive and paranoid. She sends others to die to protect herself, choosing to barricade herself in her home while her henchmen are slaughtered in the street.
- Faux Affably Evil: Sure, she's a ruthless monster who doesn't bat an eye at killing hundreds, but she's also a witty, flirty and charming woman...at least until she's ready to show her true nasty colors
- Manipulative Bitch: Francesca expertly manipulateseveryone on a staggering level. She outfoxes other masters like Klaus, Elijah and Marcel by pitting them against each other, ultimately causing a borderline vampire genocide and eliminating many of her enemies in a single night.
- Massively Numbered Siblings: She has a dozen brothers, all of whom act as her henchmen.
- Oh, Crap!: The look on her face is something to behold when Elijah reveals he's able to enter her home without invitation.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When control of New Orleans is wrested from her by Klaus and Elijah, Francesca decides to skip town in hopes of surviving. Unfortunately for her, Hayley catches up to her rather quickly.
- Smug Snake: Despite her skillful manipulations, she proves to just be a high-functioning one of these in the Season 2 premiere, as her arrogance, unpleasantness, and paranoia serve to do her and her thugs in.]]
- Surprisingly Sudden Death: After the last few episodes of Season 1 set her up as the next Big Bad, she and all her minions are taken out in the first episode of Season Two. She doesn't even get to die onscreen.
- The Vamp: Despite being a werewolf, she's a vamp. Francesca is fully aware of her immense sexiness, and she isn't afraid to use it.
- Villain Decay: Francesca has lost much of her confidence between Season One and Two, having become paranoid, irritable, impulsive and reclusive due to her continuing fear of Klaus' retaliation.
Tien Pack

"There is no room for weakness in this pack."
A werewolf and Alpha of his pack. Jed's father governed his pack using old ways of werewolves including practices such as the deliberate activation of the werewolf gene as a Rite of Passage, and removing the weak from their ranks. He was an abusive man whom firmly believed in the ways of his pack, and wanted Jed to make him proud by killing his friend Trey whom the pack had decided was too weak to stay.
- Might Makes Right: Like many werewolves, the strongest and most brutal fighter of the pack is Alpha and Jed's father prides in this.
- Proud Warrior Race: The pack has a proud, yet violent and cutthroat, inner-culture and seem to regard it in a Good Old Ways manner.
- The Spartan Way
- Abusive Parent: Jed's father is shown to be verbally, emotionally and psychologically abusive to Jed, and by extension his friend Trey.
- Patricide: He attempts to make Jed fight his crush in a Duel to the Death that results in Jed turning the bat on him.
- Would Hurt a Child: Threatens Trey's life if Jed doesn't kill him.

- Childhood Friends: Trey was Jed's best friend when they were children.
- Puppy Love: Jed admits to having had a crush on Trey when he was a child, but it's unclear if this was requited.
- More Expendable Than You: Trey more or less says this to Jed during their Duel to the Death
- The So-Called Coward: Trey is deemed by the pack to be weak and a coward, but is later acknowledged by Jed's father as a form of Badass Pacifist when he's prepared to Face Death with Dignity.
