Opponents
Story Mode
He's the opponent of the story mode, singing "Familiar" and "Hero's Doom". He also appears as the opponent of the All-Stars song "Merry Massacre", and gets a few sections in said song as a playable character.
- Evil Is Bigger: In his true form, he stands at 12 feet tall, in contrast to his False Hero form's 6 feet.
- Off with His Head!: In "Hero's Doom", he uses a decapitated Toad's head as a microphone, and the body of said Toad is visible behind him in the background.
- One-Winged Angel: In "Hero's Doom", MX drops the disguise and reveals his more monstrous self.
- Mall Santa: Is dressed as one in "Merry Massacre".
- Promoted to Playable: Albeit only temporarily, MX is the player character for I HATE YOU Luigi's segments in "Merry Massacre".
- Would Hurt a Child: The opening cutscene for the Story Mode shows him about to attack Lucas just like in their game of origin, only stopping due to Boyfriend's arrival.
All-Stars
- Adaptational Context Change: How he ends up burning alive. Whereas in the original story it was because Mario knocked him into the lava by accident, here, he falls in due to the platform he was standing on collapsing under him.
- And I Must Scream: If his Skyward Scream at the end of "Burning Hatred" is any indication, he's still alive after literally falling into lava, and can feel the burning on his charred flesh.
- Bad Job, Worse Uniform: Implied in "Merry Massacre", in which he's the only character present that's not in the Christmas spirit, outright saying he hates his job and calls said job "stupid".
- Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: His idle pose after burning has him perpetually pointing at Boyfriend with his left hand.
- Harmless Freezing: On the receiving end of this in "Merry Massacre", courtesy of Lucas using an Ice Flower on him. After this, he's absent from the rest of the song due to him falling over.
- Oh, Crap!: As he notices that the platform he's standing on is about to break, he starts to panic, culminating in him screaming as he falls into the lava and burns alive.
- Rage Breaking Point: In the final minute of "Burning Hatred", he outright screams at Boyfriend to "DIE!". He also gains the ability to drain the player's health when he sings, likely showing how badly he wants Boyfriend to die.
- Skyward Scream: Towards the end of "Burning Hatred", he screams "IT BUUUUUUUUURNS!", indicating he still feels the sting of the lava against his charred flesh.
A giant floating Wario head that manifests in certain personalised copies of Super Mario 64. He's the opponent of the song "Ground Zero", in which he chases Boyfriend and Mario down a seemingly endless hallway.
- Advancing Boss of Doom: He's always behind Boyfriend and Mario, with his exact distance from the duo determined by the player's health. The lower the player's health gets, the closer he is, and the higher their health, the further away he gets.
- Non-Standard Character Design: He's rendered in 3D, like everything else in "Ground Zero", in contrast to the rest of the mod, which is in 2D.
A mysterious entity inhabiting the forest that is either the ghost of Princess Peach or a demon assuming her appearance (No one knows for sure). Either way, she claims to be the god of the forest. She's the opponent of the song "Pink Forest", in which she faces Girlfriend rather than Boyfriend.
- A God Am I: Like in her game of origin, she claims to be the god of the forest.
- Ambiguous Situation: It's never clarified if she is the actual Princess Peach reincarnated as a ghost or a supernatural entity assuming her appearance.
- The Cameo: In "Merry Massacre", Coronation Day Peach can be seen in the foreground, holding up a camera is if she were a mother about to happily take a picture of her kid on Santa's lap.
- Designated Girl Fight: "Pink Forest" is between her and Girlfriend. In the mod's current version, she's the only character that gets to fight Girlfriend.
- Interface Screw: Press the root notes that appear throughout "Pink Forest", and Coronation Day Peach will summon roots to block the player's view.
A version of Mario that rules the Mushroom Kingdom with an iron fist. He's the opponent of the song "Cover-Up".
- Adaptational Context Change: His line "You tried to FUCK me. Goodbye, old friend". In his video of origin, he said this to Sonic when he was about to have the hedgehog executed over an old SEGA console. Here, he says it to Boyfriend likely out of fear over Friday Night Funkin's popularity.
- A Lighter Shade of Black: He's no supernatural monster, unlike the rest of the opponents that appear in this mod, but he is a ruthless dictator that tries to have Boyfriend shot dead.
- Good Smoking, Evil Smoking: Smokes a cigar, befitting his cruel disposition.
- Token Human: The only normal human opponent in the mod as of it's current version.
An unusual entity who at first looks just like Princess Daisy, but is in fact hiding something considerably more optical in nature. She's the opponent of the song "Blinked".
- Ascended Glitch: Her true form is based on a texturing error found on Daisy's trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee, which took the form of her having a Third Eye visible on the back of her head, behind her hair.
- Distaff Counterpart: In a way, she's one for MX, as she's a supernatural entity that disguises herself as a normal Mario character (In her case, Daisy), but is revealed to have a more monstrous true form, though unlike MX Dais-eye reveals her true form within the same song.
- Eyes Do Not Belong There: In her true form, she has additional eyes on the gems on her crown and dress, on her earrings, on the hem of her dress, and in her hair.
- Humanoid Abomination: The simplest way to describe her is Princess Daisy but with Extra Eyes all in the wrong places.
- Original Generation: While she's based off of Daisy's trophy from Super Smash Bros. Melee, Dais-eye herself, along with Endgame, was created for the mod.
- Punny Name: Daisy + Eye = Dais-eye.
- Heel Realization: Endgame found out he's a video game character, and is not taking it well.
- Evil Is Bigger: In his disfigured appearance, he's much taller than before.
- Fallen Hero: Ever since he learned he's just a video game character, Endgame's lost any traces of heroism he once had, going out of his way to make every game's code break down, just like how he broke his own code.
- Game Face: Midway through "Victimized", he sheds his appearance to reveal his face's horrendously-damaged state, with this also serving as a sign that he's no longer playing around.
- Go Mad from the Revelation: Endgame's discovery that his existence was all part of a video game caused him to go mad, resulting in him killing several of his friends and mutilating himself.
- Hell Is That Noise: Not too long after going One-Winged Angel, Endgame lets out a particularly unpleasant scream.
- The Unsmile: In his disguised state, he's always smiling, though given how he's gone mad from the revelation, he's anything but happy, as shown by him being a Perpetual Frowner in his corrupted state.
- Original Generation: While he's based off of the MARIO creepypasta, Endgame himself, like Dais-eye, was created for the mod.
- Wham Shot: Once he goes completely off the deep end and reveals his Game Face, it's clear exactly who Endgame is; it's Mario himself.
- Denser and Wackier: He hails from a parodic YouTube animation, in contrast with the rest of the mod's cast, who all hail from much darker media.
- Death Seeker: In his series of origin, the reason behind him begging Mario to jump on him was due to being suicidal.
- Stylistic Suck: He's drawn in a poorer artstyle than the rest of the mod, keeping in line with his series of origin, which was also crudely drawn.
- Token Good Teammate: In a sense, in that he doesn't want to kill anyone, instead wanting Mario to jump on him.
Secret
A recoloured Mario from a bootleg of a Flintstones game, he became a popular meme thanks to Vinesauce and SiIvaGunner. He's the opponent of the mod's secret song "A Grand Ol' Time".
- Denser and Wackier: He's a literal meme in a mod filled mostly with characters from creepypastas and dark parodies.
- Lethal Joke Character: He may look and sound goofy, but he does not mess around when it comes to singing.
- Secret Boss: He's unlocked by pressing '7' while on any menu, after which a list of "Mario Games" will appear. The first 6 options are just memetic sound effects, while the 7th option will take the player to "A Grand Ol' Time".
- Shout-Out: Each of his poses references a different meme:
- His left pose makes his face resemble a Trollface.
- His down pose is based off the Family Guy death pose.
- His up pose references the jump pose artwork◊ he's most famous for.
- His right pose turns his face into Shoop Da Whoop.
- Token Good Teammate: The only character in the mod who means no harm to either Boyfriend or Girlfriend.
Playable Characters
The spunky blue-haired rapper himself. He was just playing Super Mario Bros. with his girlfriend, only for MX to pull their souls into the game. He's the player character for all songs except for "Pink Forest", "Pissed" and "Merry Massacre".
- Adaptational Dye-Job: Thanks to MX pulling his soul into the game, Boyfriend is given a Mario-esque outfit, swapping out his usual white shirt, blue pants and red shoes for a blue shirt, white overalls and blue shoes. His cap is also completely blue instead of red with a blue brim and he wears white gloves. "Cover-Up" makes his eyes white.
Boyfriend's, well, Girlfriend. She was just playing Super Mario Bros. with her boyfriend, only for MX to pull their souls into the game. While for most of the mod she takes her usual place sitting on top her speakers and cheering Boyfriend on, she becomes playable for the song "Pink Forest", in which she fights Coronation Day Peach.
- Adaptational Dye-Job: Thanks to MX pulling her soul into the game, Girlfriend is given a Mario-esque outfit, swapping out her usual red dress and heels for a red shirt, maroon overalls and red shoes that look similar to her heels. She also gets a red hat with "GF" on the emblem along with white gloves, and has her hair tied into a ponytail.
- Adaptational Modesty: Her plumber outfit covers up her legs, as opposed to her usual attire.
- Designated Girl Fight: "Pink Forest" is between her and Coronation Day Peach.
- Promoted to Playable: In "Pink Forest", she's the one doing the singing, whereas Boyfriend is absent for the duration of the song.
- Non-Standard Character Design: He is rendered in 3D like everything else in "Ground Zero", in contrast to the rest of the mod, which is in 2D.
- And Now for Someone Completely Different: His ordeal with the goomba is disconnected from the rest of the mod, with no appearances from Boyfriend or Girlfriend whatsoever.
- Censor Box: A big black rectangle is permanently present right where his dick is.
- Stylistic Suck: Like the Goomba he's singing against and keeping in line with the original series, he's drawn in a cruder artstyle than the rest of the mod.
A young boy who received a copy of Super Mario Bros. as a birthday present from his Uncle Mark, only for said copy to be inhabited by MX, who killed the boy with an epilepsy attack and pulled his soul into the game. Now Lucas is trapped in a Luigi-shaped vessel and doomed to an endless game of being chased down by MX. In this mod, he appears as the audience for the story mode songs and becomes playable for the Christmas song "Merry Massacre".
- Adaptational Dye-Job: In "Merry Massacre", Lucas is dressed for the holidays, wearing an orange-and-red sweater with a goomba on it and a green scarf. His shoes also have laces.
- Harmless Freezing: Inflicts this on I HATE YOU Luigi in "Merry Massacre", freezing the grouchy, charred plumber in a block of ice using an Ice Flower.
- Meaningful Background Event: In "Hero's Doom", Lucas hides behind the brick staircase, obviously out of fear of MX.
- Promoted to Playable: He gets the spotlight for "Merry Massacre", in which he's celebrating Christmas with MX.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: "Merry Massacre" is this for Lucas, as for once, MX isn't trying to kill him, instead happily playing the role of a Mall Santa and celebrating the holidays with the little kid. They even take a postcard together!
