House of Champions
The Members of the House of Champions
- Cast Full of Gay: With Rosa as the exception, none of them are straight. So far, it's confirmed that Touya and N are bisexual and Brendan, May and Wally are in a polyamorous relationship.
- The Chosen Many: Yuki seems to think this of them, given his experience with Team Rainbow Rocket.
- Cutting Off the Branches: To a slight degree — the author shows which versions of each game is canon to this story through subtle details:
- Ethan mentions capturing Lugia, referencing SoulSilver.
- Brendan mentions that he battled Team Magma and can summon a Latios with the Eon Flute, alluding to the events of OmegaRuby.
- Dawn states that she obtained Dialga, meaning that her story was Diamond.
- Touya and N are referred to as the Heroes of Truth and Ideals respectively, making the events of Black and by extension Black 2 canon here.
- Calem is noted to have caught Yveltal, referencing Pokémon Y.
- Yuki obtained Lunala, making Moon canon to this story, though there is also some Canon Welding with Ultra Moon, since he also talks about defeating Ultra Necrozma and Team Rainbow Rocket.
- Nora says that she caught Zamazenta, a reference to Pokémon Shield.
- Kid Hero All Grown-Up: With Yuki and Nora as the exceptions, all of them are adults who had previously saved the world as teenagers.
- Red Baron: The ones who are currently standing champions have these.
- Dawn: The Queen of Time.
- Calem: The Stylish Boy Who Reaped the Reaper.
- Yuki: Alola's First Ever Champion.
- Nora: The Heroine of the Shining Shield.

The famed silent hero of Kanto.
- Ambiguous Situation: Whether he’s mute or simply chooses not to speak has so far been left unclear. He does however, communicate with sign language.
- Brother–Sister Team: With Leaf.
- The Dreaded: Downplayed. Everyone is fine with palling around with him, but no one except Ethan wants to battle him. Even Nora has an "AVOID AT ALL COSTS" note next to him on her battle board.
- Half-Identical Twins: Averted. Red and Leaf are fraternal twins.
- Meaningful Name: "Yamaguchi", his surname, is not only an unused "default" name for the character from the original games, but also means "mountain entrance", reminding us of Red's True Final Boss battle on Mount Silver, as well as being a name of a staff member in a similar way to "Satoshi" and "Shigeru".
- Nice Guy: He’s friendly towards the others, though he’s still got a competitive side.
- Official Couple: With Misty, though she has yet to appear.
- Painting the Medium: His sign language is rendered through italics.
- Signature Mon: Both Pikachu and Venusaur.
Blue Oak
Red’s best friend and former rival.
- Competition Freak: Still competes with Red sometimes. During breakfast, the two even race each other to the table and start competing over who can eat the most pancakes.
- Deadpan Snarker: One of the snarkier members of the group.
- Fiery Redhead: Has red hair and a strong competitive side.
- Lethal Chef: During the Curry Cook-Off, he ends up burning his curry and gets Koffing Class.
- The Rival: To Red, though he’s mellowed out since they were kids.
- Signature Mon: Charizard and Pidgeot.
Leaf Yamaguchi
Red’s sister.
- Brother–Sister Team: With Red.
- Half-Identical Twins: Averted. She and Red are fraternal twins.
- Signature Mon: Blastoise and Clefable.
- Team Mom: So far comes off as such, both to Red and Blue and to the rest of the group.
- Women Are Wiser: Significantly less competitive than her brother and his rival.
Ethan Gold
Johto’s hero and now a Pokémon Ranger.
- Composite Character: With Kellyn.
- Large Ham: He’s very dramatic.
- Mad Scientist: Used to be one in his youth. His love of science never waned, but he’s more focused on the environment now.
- Nice Guy: Snarky and passionate though he is, he loves Pokémon and hates seeing any harm brought to them. He's also quite romantic, as his girlfriend Jasmine can attest to.
- Signature Mon: Meganium.
- Supreme Chef: Turns out to be a pretty good cook, getting Charizard Class in the Curry Cook-Off.
Brendan Landis
Son of Gym Leader Norman and Hoenn’s premier contest star.
- Idol Singer: His contest persona invokes this, anyway.
- Meaningful Name: "Landis", referencing Groudon (the embodiment of the Earth's land).
- Polyamory: With May and Wally.
- Signature Mon: Blaziken for battles and Dustox for contests.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Quite literally — he’s afraid of snakes.
May Birch
Daughter of Professor Birch and a professor in training herself.
- Absent-Minded Professor: Comes off as such, being a quirky girl who is also a scientist.
- Genki Girl: She’s quite energetic.
- Polyamory: With Brendan and Wally.
- Signature Mon: Swampert.
Wally Greene
Successor to Gym Leader Norman.
- Polyamory: With Brendan and May.
- Shrinking Violet: Not to the extent he used to be, but he's still somewhat shy.
- Signature Mon: A shiny Gallade.
- Supreme Chef: Knows a great recipe for potato mochi. He also gets Charizard Class in the Curry Cook-Off.
Dawn Diamond
Champion of Sinnoh.
- Action Girl: She didn't become Champion of Sinnoh for nothing. Being able to go toe to toe with Cynthia proves her to be this.
- Alliterative Name: Dawn Diamond.
- Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: She’s a stoic, dark-haired woman.
- Lethal Chef: She's self-admittedly not much of a cook. Her curry in the Curry Cook-Off ends up undercooked and she gets Koffing Class because of it.
- Only Sane Woman: Typically the one who tries to keep everyone focused on the task at hand.
- Signature Mon: Empoleon.
Touya Hilbert Black
The Hero of Truth and one of the saviors of Unova.
- Brainy Brunette: Has dark auburn hair and is a highly intelligent scientist.
- Nice Guy: Kind to his Pokémon and his boyfriend.
- Official Couple: With N.
- Omnidisciplinary Scientist: Subverted. He’s just called a scientist at first, but it’s later shown that his specialty lies with paleontology.
- Signature Mon: Serperior.
- So Okay, It's Average: In-universe; during the Curry Cook-Off, this is Nora's assessment of his curry. Touya considers this to be more embarrassing than if she just told him it was bad.
Natural Gropius "N" Harmonia
Former King of Team Plasma, the Hero of Ideals and one of the saviors of Unova.
- Cuddle Bug: Not just with Touya, but with his Pokémon. They all form a cuddle pile with him he minute he sees them again at the House of Champions' pastures.
- Friend to All Living Things: Pokemon all over adore the guy.
- Official Couple: With Touya.
- Signature Mon: Zoroark.
- Sleeps in the Nude: As poor Calem learns the hard way when sent to wake him up, N sleeps au naturale.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: He can talk to Pokémon.
Rosa White
The manager of Join Avenue and the third savior of Unova.
- Girlish Pigtails: Very long ones, mixed with Odango Hair. She has the girly girl personality to match.
- Grade-School C.E.O.: She was sixteen when she became Join Avenue's manager.
- My Card: Introduces herself this way. Fitting, since she's a businesswoman.
- Signature Mon: Samurott.
- Young Entrepreneur: Surprisingly business savvy for her age.
Calem Reyes
Kalos’ champion.
- Ambiguously Brown: He has a darker complexion than the others. The author comments that he sees him as the Pokémon equivalent to Filipino.
- The Fashionista: Rare male example — he loves fashion, and is described by an announcer at one point as "stylish".
- Humble Hero: Maybe a little too humble, since he rarely takes credit for his own accomplishments.
- Lethal Chef: His curry in the Curry Cook-Off gets Koffing Class, along with Blue and Dawn.
- Shrinking Violet: He's a bit more introverted than his fellow champions.
- Signature Mon: Delphox.
Yuki Miyamoto
The first champion of Alola.
- Ambiguously Brown: Described as having tan skin.
- The Baby of the Bunch: He’s the youngest of the standing champions, at only twelve years old.
- Delinquents: Played with, he has joined Team Skull but is still a pretty friendly guy.
- Signature Mon: Decidueye.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: Like N, he can talk to Pokémon.
- Young and in Charge: He has a lot of authority as Champion of Alola, though his youth means that he needs to defer to the Elite Four until he comes of age.
Nora Armour
Champion of Galar.
- Action Girl: To be expected when you combine "Pokémon trainer" with Passionate Sports Girl.
- Boyish Short Hair: A tomboy (bordering on The Lad-ette) with a pixie cut.
- Feminine Women Can Cook: Subverted; she can and does cook, but she's anything but feminine.
- Hot-Blooded: The rage of Galar’s highlands consumes her.
- The Nicknamer: She calls Yuki "Skull Boy" for example, since he’s a part of Team Skull.
- Passionate Sports Girl: Regarding Pokémon battles.
- Signature Mon: Cinderace.
- Supreme Chef: She loves making curry.
- Young and in Charge: At sixteen, she’s the second youngest of the champions.
Noteworthy Protagonists' Pokémon
Bobbie the Pikachu
Red's Pikachu and one of his signature Pokémon.
- Action Girl: Among Red's Pokémon, she's one of the strongest alongside his Venusaur.
- Gender Flip: Red's Pikachu in most media is always male. Here, however, she's a girl. The author has stated elsewhere that this is based on his own playthrough of FireRed, where the Pikachu he caught was female.
- Shock and Awe: As always, an Electric-type.
- Undying Loyalty: She's always by Red's side.
Global League Champions
The Global League
- Asskicking Leads to Leadership: Part of the way that the Champion position works — the strongest trainer in the region is the one in charge.
- The Federation: Essentially a Pokémon United Nations.
- Red Baron: They all have one.
- Lance: Master of Dragons.
- Wallace: Artist and Lover of Water.
- Iris: The Girl Who Knows the Hearts of Dragons.
- Young and in Charge: Some of the Champions gained their positions at rather young ages — Dawn, Iris, Calem, Yuki and Nora noteworthy among them. That said, when Champions are deemed too young for complete authority, they have to share the power with the Elite Four (or it's equivalent in the case of Galar) until they come of age.
Lance Amachi
Former leader of the Indigo Elite Four and current Indigo League champion.
- Hidden Depths: Surprisingly good at cooking, as shown during the Curry Cook-Off.
- Smug Super: Implied. Ethan describes both him and his Pokémon as having an "air of smug superiority".
- The Stoic: Generally comes off as this.
Wallace Stone
Former Gym Leader of Sootopolis and champion of Hoenn.
- Camp Gay: Well, Camp Pansexual, but you get the idea.
- Happily Married: To Steven.
Iris
Former Gym Leader of Opelucid City and Champion of Unova.
- Genki Girl: She’s a tenacious, energetic girl.
- Only One Name: She's the only member of the Global League with no surname.
Former Champions
Professor Samuel Oak
The top Pokémon Professor in Kanto and former Indigo League Champion.
- Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Red comments about him being weird though it doesn't change that he's a competent professor.
Noteworthy Heroes
Lucas Pearl
Formerly Professor Rowan's assistant, Lucas is Dawn's step-brother and hero of Hisui.
- Break the Cutie: His time in Hisui predictably left some scars and affected how he originally viewed Professor Rowan and Cynthia in some level. Because of this, he was brought to have constant therapy sessions by the time of the fic.
- Composite Character: With Rei.
Barry Blanchard
The new Sinnoh Tower Tycoon and Dawn’s former rival.
- Took a Level in Badass: He’s succeeding his father as the head of Sinnoh’s Battle Tower.
- Composite Character: With the GO Protagonist as the Pokeverse Profiles confirms that Chase will eventually grow up to join Team Instinct and work under Professor Willow.
Gym Leaders
Jasmine Steele
Ethan’s girlfriend and Gym Leader of Olivine City.
- Extra-ore-dinary: She specializes in Steel-type Pokémon.
Other Characters
Florian Ortega
A young trainer from Paldea whose journey is just beginning.
- Adaptational Gender Identity: They’re non-binary here.
- Cutting Off the Branches: Florian is later confirmed to have Koraidon as the Ride dragon that they will befriend and that Florian's story will follow Scarlet.
- Hero of Another Story: The start of their story is approaching around the time this story begins.
- One-Steve Limit: Averted Trope. They share a similar surname to Team Star's own Ortega (Who has said name as his first name rather than surname) and Florian had to remind and clarify others who ask that they are not in anyway related to the Ruchbah squad's boss.
- Refusal of the Call: The first chapter focusing on them reveals that they intend to do this. And that one of the Legendaries of the region does not intend to let them.
- Retcon: On December 16 2022, post-release of Scarlet and Violet, the author made a slight alteration to the chapter that first introduces Florian, changing the reference to their legendary dragon to instead being a reference to the mysterious Sequel Hook Pokemon from the Scarlet/Violet book.
