Locked Pages: Lock, UnLock and Edit requests

Go To

This thread is for requesting edits or unlocks to Locked Pages or for requesting locks. It can also be used for technical requests to moderators such as:

  • creating new pages in the Main/ and other restricted namespaces without going through Trope Launch Pad
  • moving discussion pages
  • moving reviews

Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  1. Check Locked Pages and Permanent Red Link Club first. They can provide guidance on what are good and bad requests.
  2. Include working links in your request to the page(s) in question.
  3. If asking for edits, state your changes exactly as they should appear on the page, including proper Example Indentation, namespacing, and pothole and quote formatting. And make sure that what you want to add is actually a valid example.
  4. We do not edit archived articles, even to correct links.
  5. If you need to have the capitalization of a page title or namespace of a work fixed, ask here.
  6. If you need to remove a ghost wick, go here.
  7. To request a page to be moved along with its history, go here.
  8. Some locked pages have ongoing cleanup threads, like Complete Monster (Thread), Five-Man Band (Thread), and Magnificent Bastard (Thread). Other than purely technical requests, edits to these pages ought to be discussed in these threads first.
  9. Also, we do not do direct edits (other than changing wicks) to Magnificent Bastard or Complete Monster example lists. Rather, you need to do the edit to a sandbox page that follows the format Sandbox.Magnificent Bastard<Name of the example subpage> and Sandbox.Monster<Name of the example subpage> (e.g for Monster.Disney it's Sandbox.Monster Disney) and ask for it to be swapped in on Saturday for Magnificent Bastard and on Monday for Complete Monster.
  10. Inappropriate pages that keep being recreated, pages banned under The Content Policy and subpages that are disallowed (like Headscratchers pages for tropes) are valid reasons for requesting page locks.

NOTE: Edited with OP's permission.

~Fighteer

For Tom Cruise I'd actually argue he be cut, since he's managed to pull off a pretty good Career Resurrection even though he's still the butt of jokes (mostly regarding him being a scientologist).

Lindsay Lohan's would be a bit more detailed. Should I give you or another mod what I would put as a revised entry?

This wouldn't be the proper place to make your argument as to why Cruise no longer qualifies. Try the Discussion page. For those other examples, please post the exact new text you want to replace the existing ones.

~Fighteer Okay, here's Lohan.

Lindsay Lohan had a decent start to her career as a child actress and model, with well-received performances in The Parent Trap, Freaky Friday and Mean Girls making her a star. She even carved out a decent career for herself in music with her album Speak, which went platinum. Through the early-mid 00s, she was one of several hot young "It Girls" poised to take Hollywood by storm, and she became a paparazzi magnet thanks to her glamorous partying lifestyle. However, as her career went into overdrive, so did Lohan herself. The first sign of serious trouble came in 2006, when a letter from the head of the studio filming Georgia Rule went public, in which he angrily called Lohan out on frequently missing shooting days with false claims of illness due to heavily partying the night before. And despite praise for her acting talents from her co-stars (most especially Meryl Streep), her subsequent performances in films like Bobby and Chapter 27 went largely unnoticed. Between her out-of-control behavior showing no signs of slowing down despite the clear and negative impact it was having on her career (and her looks for that matter) and troublesome brushes with the law, it didn't take long for Lohan to become known better as tabloid fodder. Studios and directors grew wary of casting her in anything and she was deemed "uninsurable" as a result.

After seeming to hit rock bottom with the universally panned I Know Who Killed Me, Lohan went through rehab and publicly stated that she let success go to her head and she would try to maintain a better public image from then on. However, her numerous attempts at a Career Resurrection - a recurring role on Ugly Betty, the ABC Family TV movie Labor Pains, a side role in Machete (where critics and audiences noted that she was essentially playing herself), the Lifetime channel TV movie Liz & Dick, and the direct-to-DVD erotic thriller The Canyons - failed to get her career back up off the ground, all the while continuing reports of her unprofessional, diva behavior and constant trips in and out of prison and rehab likewise did not help her reputation. Possibly the final nail in the coffin came with her documentary series on the Oprah Winfrey Network, simply titled Lindsay. The series, which followed Lohan as she tried to get her life and career on track, suffered through mediocre ratings and behind-the-scenes problems, and Lohan herself did not come across as particularly sympathetic to the few viewers watching. After reports came out that Lohan faked a miscarriage to explain why she disappeared for two weeks, the show was cut short at a mere six episodes.

Having gone from a hot rising talent to yet another example of a Former Child Star turning into a mess as an adult, Lindsay Lohan regarded as a cautionary tale at best and a snarky punchline at worst. Mean Girls is still beloved and stands up well on its own merits, and her earlier Disney films are still popular with the nostalgia crowd, but besides those, her filmography is either completely forgotten or has become even more fodder for jokes about how this once-promising starlet now has to take side roles in movies like Inappropriate Comedy and Scary Movie 5 for a quick paycheck. Many former fans that idolized her growing up have completely turned against her to the point that some argue that her acting wasn't even that good to begin with, while much of the general public barely has much (if any) sympathy left for her. While "never say never" is the motto of the entertainment industry, her chances at making any sort of return are virtually nonexistent, as numerous actresses have arisen over the years to fill the void she left behind with her squandered career.

Requesting Web Novel as a redirect to Web Serial Novel. The former is the term used in Japan, where many are picked up for serialization as Light Novels, so editors of LN-related pages might reference web novels without realising we have a page for them.

EDIT: There also seems to be an orphaned ShipTease.Web Novel page which should be deleted.

At Transformers, please change the Unicron Trilogy group as follows (there's gonna be another Anime entry next week):

Anime

  • Unicron Trilogy
    • Unicron is a powerful and ancient Transformer who feeds upon worlds and the negative emotions of others. Disguising himself as one of Cybertron's moons, Unicron created the Mini-Cons to escalate the war between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Hoping to consume both sides once he regained enough power from their conflict, Unicron's plans were foiled when the Mini-Cons gained free will and abandoned Cybertron. Unicron slumbered for millions of years before the Mini-Cons were discovered on Earth. Unicron soon sent his herald Sideways to Earth to keep the war going and help restore him to his full power. Once fully awakened, Unicron attacked Cybertron, killed Starscream, and briefly stripped the Mini-Cons of their free will. Although he was defeated thanks to the combined efforts of the Autobots and Decepticons, Unicron returned with a vengeance. Before the events of Energon, Unicron devoured the home world of Alpha Q and all of its inhabitants. Unicron was heavily damaged when Scorponok blew up the planet in order to stop him, but he was eventually revived by Megatron, who had hoped to turn him into a weapon. Unicron instead possessed Megatron and went off to destroy several planets that Alpha Q had managed to restore. Despite having the ability to restore the planets that he had previously destroyed, Unicron instead prefers to use his god-like powers to achieve the destruction of space itself.
    • The aforementioned Megatron, later known as Galvatron, is the brutal commander of the Decepticons. While he was arguably a Noble Demon in Armada, and a lesser evil than the aforementioned Unicron, Megatron still committed a number of crimes in that series, such as enslaving Mini-Cons to use against the Autobots in his war of conquest, trying to kill the Autobots' human allies, murdering Smokescreen with the Requiem Blaster, and trying to destroy Earth with the Hydra Cannon, only showing remorse when Optimus Prime sacrificed himself to prevent the final act. Upon his resurrection in Energon, Megatron discards any redeeming features he once had in his quest for power and domination. Leading his forces in destructive raids for Energon, Megatron plans to use the element to revive Unicron and use him as a weapon. Now a callous Control Freak, Megatron uses Unicron's power to subvert the wills of his followers, notably enslaving Scorponok and Starscream and trying to do the same to Inferno, torturing the Autobot to the brink of insanity. In Cybertron, Megatron, having developed a god complex, seeks to use the Cyber Planet Keys to accelerate the Unicron Singularity's expansion to end reality and reconstruct it in his own image. To this end, Megatron views his followers as utterly disposable, cruelly manipulating them, as well as several others, to serve his mad goals. Along the way, Megatron brutally guns down three Autobots, nearly killing them, to test his new weapon. In the end, when questioned on how his minions will survive his apocalyptic plan, Galvatron admits that he doesn't care if they do, proving himself to be a truly selfish monster. A power-hungry, uncaring, self-obsessed narcissist, Megatron demonstrates the worst that someone can sink to when they care only for themselves.

Please change the Vocal Minority and What Measure Is a Non-Human? sections on Double Standard to this:

  • Vocal Minority: The more vocal side of an issue is the one to get the most Demonization, even if the other side can be just as guilty (if not more so) of an action. While this definitely can apply to Gender roles, it can apply to all sorts of other issues, too, like Race, Religion, and even fandoms.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Carnage and Bloodless Carnage against humans is definitely something that bumps the rating up to "R", but you can mutilate, smash, and slice apart other types of creatures (robots especially) and still get a PG or PG-13 rating. Real Life animals might be an exception, but not always.

Another change to Double Standard (I just noticed it, sorry!); put can before definitely on Vocal Minority, and change Subbing vs. Dubbing to this:

  • If a change was done from the manga to the anime, it inevitably gets blamed on the Dub, even if it was there in the original version. For example, if a character is a Bratty Half-Pint in the dub, it's clearly the dub's fault (If not, then the voice actor's), even if they were written that way in the original anime. Also, references to western culture or the like is clearly the dub's fault, even if it was in the sub too.
